Adolescent Care Committee Plan of action • National level Training of Trainers (ToT) for one/two resource persons nominated by state IMA • State/Zonal level ToT for one resource person per branch • The module prepared by the national committee to be used for training at all levels- suitably modified and tailor-made to the audience

Adolescent Care Committee Activities • Each branch to adopt one or more schools in each academic year • Conduct Adolescent counseling and training programs in each selected school, in batches of 50 students per session- one hour each • The resource persons should also conduct at-least one awareness session for school teachers under their area- three hours session, to enable the teachers to understand and manage adolescent issues- as a batch of 30 teachers • Resource persons should also conduct sensitization for the branch members as to how to identify and manage adolescent issues at the primary care level

The hand that rocks the cradle, the hand that nurtures the womb, the hand that nurtures the whole world; what an irony for providence to nip this pulse in the bud!

Tragically enough, this remains the horrific irony of the unfortunate girl child, even in today’s supposedly futuristic and gender-neutral society.

It is an oft-seen clipping in all the nooks of media even today. Female infants are still being found abandoned in trash by the numbers, while unborn fetuses are still being sniffed in the womb, despite the outcry for gender equality and law enforcement. 

The society lends a harsh hand to the girl child, starting even before birth and continuing right till the end of life, riddled with discrimination and prejudiced by traditions.

The Save Girl Child Foundation brings the world to you, from the eyes of the girl child, protected in ink, yet cowering in the real world, aware of the dangers to her dignity, independence and outright survival!

Charisma in the eye but remorse in the spirit; the Indian girl child, a portrait of dismay!

Save Girl Child is a humanitarian project run by The Organization for Eradication of Illiteracy and Poverty (OEIP).

‌The Campaign

India reports a ghastly rate of 2 million abortions of female fetuses, every year! The Save Girl Child Foundation is a one-of-its-kind, pioneering organization that pledges to raise the widespread woes and discrimination meted out to the girl child, right from the womb to the grave. It tends to raise awareness against the ongoing tirade against the endangered girl child and aims to mobilize resources to stage a war against the same.

The skewed sex ratio and a widening gap between the numbers poses a grave threat to the Indian society, going far beyond the threat of poverty and even illiteracy! To ensure a safe world for the downtrodden girl child To mobilize international thought and action towards the said objective

‌Education & Self Awareness

The massive media outcry that occurs from time to time, along with legislative safeguards to protect them, has given Indian women the courage to speak up and fight against the pervasive and shameless abuses perpetrated against them.

Here’s a bird’s eye-view of the outcomes:

• Emerging legal complaints sparked by the encouraging administrative action.
• A significant reduction in foetal sexing, with the propensity to minimise the rising number of female infanticide cases
• Opportunities to rectify imbalanced CSR rate.

Overall, nearly 45.8 million females are ‘missing’ in Indian demography in the year 2020, mainly due to pre- and post-birth sex selection practices stemming from son preference and gender inequality, as per the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

• International Issues

Illiteracy – The Bane

A 2013 report by UNESCO found that 31 million girls of primary school age have never attended school.

Shockingly, one out of every four young women in developing countries had never completed their primary school education. A report suggests that educated women are more likely to get married later, survive childbirth, raise healthy kids, find work, and earn more money, among other positives.

Employment Opportunities

Even in a country as wealthy and developed as the US, women still experience major inequality in the workforce. Globally, women earn only $0.77 for every $1 earned by men.

Reproductive Health & Rights

A whopping 225 million women in developing countries have an unmet need for family planning. This eventually results in 74 million unplanned pregnancies and 36 million abortions every year!

Child Marriage

An estimated 140 million girls became child brides between 2011 and 2020.

Girls who marry before age 18 are typically denied an education, at risk of complications related to premature pregnancy and subsequently, more vulnerable to intimate partner violence.

Female Genital Mutilation

Procedures that intentionally alter or cause injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons

Ridden by ongoing and often violent conflicts, the state of Kashmir has seen unprecedented turbulent times in the past. Unfortunately, the girls and women have been the worst effected, as rights to education remain severely effected. The pioneering program, DAUGHTERS OF KASHMIR – OUR PRIDE, intends to take up suitable initiatives for the upliftment and suitable rehabilitation of the traumatized young girls and women of the state.
