Suriya Compares Kanguva To Baahubali? Here’s What The Actor Said

Suriya said that he thinks Kanguva will do what Baahubali did for Tamil cinema.

The team of film Kanguva created a massive buzz in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. They visited the city for an event named Kanguva Vizag Meet. The event was organised by Studio Green, UV Creations, KVN Productions and Pen Studios. Directed by Siva, the film stars Suriya as the male lead; it also features Disha Patani. It is produced by KE Gnanavelraja and Vamsi Pramod. As a part of the film’s promotion, a media conference was held at the Novotel Hotel on Sunday. The event was attended by actor Suriya, producer KE Gnanavel Raja and actor Avinash. During the event, Suriya stated that the wait would be over on November 14. He expressed that the music by Devi Sri Prasad would be surely loved by the audience. Suriya also mentioned his fondness for Visakhapatnam, recalling the fond memories he has of the city. He recalled some moments which he experienced during the shooting of Singham 3.

Suriya said, “The 2012 film Baahubali laid the foundation for pan-India films from the South film industry. Thanks to director Siva for bringing the story of Kanguva to life.” He added that popular star Nagarjuna Akkineni also loved the film. “The film is set in the backdrop of a time 700 years ago and revolves around a battle of power and wealth,” the actor added. It should be noted that Bobby Deol is set to play the villain role in the film. Suriya said that he thinks Kanguva will do what Baahubali did for Tamil cinema.

KE Gnanavel Raja mentioned that the story is based on a conflict between five clans. With the trust of Telugu audiences our team is confident that the film will record a box office collection of Rs 2000 crore,” he said. Actor BS Avinash, who was also present at the event said, “We faced several challenges but despite those everyone worked with their full effort to make this film a grand success. We are sure that the fans will love it.”

Bollywood actor Disha Patani is elated to be a part of Tamil star Suriya’s next film tentatively titled Suriya 42. Disha will share screen space with Suriya in the Siva directorial.

The teaser of Suriya 42 released on Friday gave a glimpse into the larger-than-life period drama. While nothing has been revealed about Disha’s character, Suriya seems to be portraying the character of a prince. In the teaser, he is seen observing a war from the top of a hill.

Sharing her excitement about being a part of the film, Disha Patani said in a statement, “I am super kicked to announce my next with Suriya sir and Siva sir. It feels great to be a part of such a huge project that has got all the larger-than-life elements for the audience to experience on the big screen. Moreover, the character that I am playing is also quite unique and I am also excited to bring my never seen before avatar to the audience.”

Suriya had also taken to social media to announce Suriya 42. He tweeted, “We seek all your good wishes as we begin our adventure!” The makers announced that the film will release in 3D format in 10 languages.

Disha Patani was last seen playing a negative role in Ek Tha Villain Returns. Besides this, Disha also has producer Karan Johar ’s Yodha co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and Project K alongside Amitabh Bachchan , Prabhas and Deepika Padukone .

Suriya and Siva's ambitious project is touted to be a period action drama, which is set in two different timelines. Coming in as good news, the makers have announced the title and release date of the film. Taking to their social media handles, the makers unveiled the title "Kanguva". Dropping the teaser of title announcement, they captioned, "A Man with Power of Fire & a saga of a Mighty Valiant Hero. #Suriya42 Titled as #Kanguva In 10 Languages In Theatres Early 2024 (sic)."

Suriya 42: The Suriya and Disha Patani starrer titled Kanguva

Suriya ’s much-awaited film with Siruthai Siva was tentatively titled Suriya 42. On Sunday, the makers unveiled the film’s title with a motion poster. Titled Kanguva , the film is said to be a period film based on a fictional story.  

Releasing the poster on Twitter, Suriya wrote, “Sheer joy working with Siva & Team on this mighty saga. Happy to share the title look of #Kanguva.” The makers introduced the film’s motion poster as “A Man with Power of Fire & a Saga of a Mighty Valiant Hero.”

The period action film is slated to hit the theatres in early 2024 in 10 languages. The film co-stars Disha Patani (in her Tamil debut), Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, Anand Raj and Redin Kingsley. Devi Sri Prasad will be composing the music for the film.
