Apple Cutter Surprise

Bring in a paper towel and cover 1 half of a plate. Bring in an apple cutter and place on top of a paper towel. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the plate. Remove apple cutter and paper towel. Place a swiss roll slice on the opposite side of the powdered sugar pattern. Decorate the plate with fresh raspberries.

Eel Sauce Sine Graph

Dip potato masher in eel sauce and imprint masher on a plate. Finish with sushi, ginger, and wasabi.

Double Swirl

Squeeze chocolate sauce and raspberry puree dots on the edge of a wide soup plate. Using a skewer draw the swirl according to the technique. Decorate with raspberry cheesecake in the center of a plate.

Toasted marshmallow tree

A memorable meal can be defined simply as one that tastes great,  though  we all know we also eat with our eyes. Think of all those social media posts of beautiful food, creatively composed with visually stunning bursts of color  and  inviting  ar rangements   that make you crave a dish you may have never tasted  before .  

  Wouldn’t it be great to have a few food  plating  and presentation ideas to use at home? Let’s face it, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, more and more of us are eating dinner at home .   A nd whether it ’ s food we cook  ourselves  or  meals we  take out from our favorite restaurant, it ’ s a nice touch to plate  servings   well  to   enjoy the entire dining experience.

There are several food  presentation  and plating formulas,  serving  rules  and  even  complete culinary  courses  on  the visual aspect s  of  the dining experience . Start with a  Visually Pleasing Menu  

The secrets to professional – looking food presentation and gorgeous ly  plated food  begins  with planning the meal. Before cooking begins ,  be sure to :  

  • Choose foods with different textures and colors. When planning on  silky mashed potatoes  or a velvety parsnip puree, compliment their creaminess with a crispy element on the dish  such as frizzled  leeks  or  crispy bacon bits .  
  • Chop or slice vegetables  in similar sizes but use various shapes. For example, if carrots are cut into coins then chop celery  at an angle  into batons .  
  • Consider the color  a  food  might   transform into  after  the  cooking  process . Planning on using  vibrant  green vegetables? Make sure to prepare them by using a  method like steaming   and not  overcooking  them,  to ensure they keep their gorgeous green

Decide on a  Plating Method

T he utensils you have in  your  kitchen right now are  probably  great basic tools  you can use to   carefully arrange  foods for   plating and presentation for dinner at home. To really raise your game,  however,  consider adding the following items:  

  • Reusable s queeze bottles for sauces, condiments  and olive oil  
  • Pastry brush es  to spread sauces  artistically  o ver  plate s  
  • Various sized  tongs for careful placement  of  food  
  • A ring mold   to be used for plating rice or other  starches  
  • A grater or  microplane   for zesting and garnishes  
  • Vegetable peelers  to create edible  veggie  ribbons or chocolate shavings  (pro tip: chill chocolate  prior to garnishing)

Garnish with  Purpose   

Simply sprinkling parsley all over a dish might  often  be the perfect   familiar  garnish  –  but consider other alternatives.  

  • Sauces not only add dimension and moisture to a dish, but they can be carefully arranged to create visual interest. Includ e  two  sauces of complimentary  and contrasting colors and flavors. Examples can  even  include  swirled  condiments ,  like  steak sauce  and mustard, or prepared barbecue sauce  and  ra nch dressing .  
  • Finely chopped, minced  or grated ingredients added after the dish has been plated are common garnishes. Consider green onion s or chives , grat ed  hard cheeses like parmesan  or Romano ,  or  lemon  or lime zest as a finishing touch.  
  • Seasonings  such as  freshly  cracked black pepper,  a sprinkle of vibrant  paprika, or  a pinch of  dried spices like oregano can also be  colorful   as well as  delicious.  
  • Herbs  including  classic parsley, dill, cilantro   or  mint are all  flavorful  garnish options.  

Create  Height  

Stacking  servings  is a trick many restaurants use to create  a little  drama .   

  • When building a plate from the bottom up, begin with a sauce or broth.  
  • The next layer is  usually  a carbohydrate  (like  rice) ,  but any component that would taste great with the base is best  (such as  spinach souffle) .  
  • Finish with a protein either directly on to p  or leaning  slightly  over the middle layer. If the protein is steak, consider placing horizontally cut slices as the last step.  
  • Top with some  slivered  herbs or   a sprig .

Control  Portion Sizes  

T ake a moment to consider portion sizes for the plate.  Doing so can  prevent  overfilling the  plate as well as overeating. Recommendations vary according to the dish, but for the most part aim for half the plate to be vegetable s , one quarter carbohydrate s  and one quarter  protein s .

Odd  Numbers Are Even Better  

When plating foods that may either be counted or noticed by number, choose an odd number for visual impact. Just as the suggestion for the classic food plating method is broken into three areas on the plate, it is recommended to serve three or five jumbo  shrimp  rather than four ,   and  five rather than six spears of asparagus.  

Hot  S hould  Be Hot  &  Cold Should Be Cold  

Keep the temperature of the dish appropriate for the meal being served. A warm dish can ruin the presentation and food plating of a cold dessert and  con versely, a cool dish can bring the temperature of a dish down enough to make it unappealing or even cold when served.  Chill dishes  for cool foods  in the fridge and warm dishes   for  hot foods  in a low oven .  

Is  It  Practical ?  

The final consideration when plating food for others is  whether or not  a person can easily eat it.  A meal  composed of tasty ingredients  displayed in an artful way  is lovely, unless it’s nearly impossible to  enjoy . If any element on the plate needs to be sliced with a knife, the plate should be flat and  with a  large enough  area  for cutting. As mentioned earlier,  foods  with a lot of sauce or  an accompanying  broth should  ideally  be served in a bowl.  

The same food plating and presentation techniques can be used when  arranging   a buffet. Proteins,  carbs and  vegetable  side dishes  can each be  arranged  careful ly  according to the same guidelines  noted above  for  individual plate s .

8 Easy Insider Tips to Make Your Food Presentation on Point

After spending 45 minutes cooking dinner, it’s understandable that sometimes you just want to scoop up what just came out of the pan or oven, throw it on a plate and dig in with family, friends (or solo!). And sure, that’s NBD on weeknights when you’re more interested in filling stomachs, finishing homework and dealing with bedtime routines.

But other times — say, when you’ve spent a while preparing a nice dinner with your S.O. on date night in or when you’re having a couple of friends over for homemade brunch or appetizers — it’s nice to honor the time you spent on the meal by plating it prettily. It’s not just about looks (the more practical among us would argue that there’s no point dressing up our dishes at home because there’s no one watching and it’s about to disappear anyway). It’s about taking a moment to appreciate the ingredients and the work that went into making them delicious — and it doesn’t hurt that it makes it even more appetizing.

Since most of us probably don’t have the time to or interest in spending more than two minutes prettying up any given meal, regardless of the scenario, I asked pro chefs for their easiest, quickest, nonchef-friendly food presentation tips. Steal them, below.

Be organized in the kitchen

Do all the prep work — even grating cheese or chopping herbs for garnishes — in advance. That way, everything will be ready and you won’t be scrambling to figure out the final steps to make your food look good. “If all your ingredients are set up correctly, you can focus more on the plating itself,” says Chef Ricardo “Ricky” Arias of New York City restaurant Dinnertable .

Keep it simple

Don’t make it more complicated than it needs to be. Yes, the fancy food bloggers you follow on Instagram might have elaborate plating tricks that you’re tempted to try, but simple sophistication can be just as lovely. “Less is more,” says Arias. “Nobody needs tweezers and gadgets to make beautifully presented food. Practice simple platings with few components. Get comfortable with the basics: knife work, using your plating spoon, executing your food correctly, etc. Then move onto more complicated dishes. Start slow!”

Practice makes pretty

Then again, when you do feel ready to try more advanced stuff like creating artistic designs and patterns with spices, herbs, and sauces, don’t put too much pressure on yourself to get it right the first time. “Practice, practice, practice! The more you practice presentation, the more natural it becomes,” says Arias.

Pick fun dishes

While we’re fans of classic white bowls and plates (especially the super-affordable ones from Ikea, which cause zero stress when there are chips or breaks!) consider adding a few pieces with personality to your collection. “My biggest tip for presentation is to think about how best to showcase your dish,” says Executive Chef Travis Taylor of Oregon’s Sunriver Resort . “Choose an interesting plate or serving vessel.” And they don’t have to be expensive! Don’t take food too seriously — instead, think of the dish or bowl as a canvas where you can be as creative as you want. “Use interesting sauces or seasonal ingredients that bring out different aspects of the food or add beauty to the final presentation,” says Taylor. “This is your chance to tap into your inner artist — don’t be afraid to experiment, and above all, have fun!”

Go for authentic garnishes

Chef Cal Stamenov of Lucia Restaurant & Bar in Bernardus Lodge & Spa in Carmel Valley, California, says where you shop for ingredients can impact how your food presents when it’s cooked. “Go to a nursery for herbs rather than Whole Foods,” says Stamenov. Not only will herbs at a nursery or local farmers market be priced cheaper, they’ll also have more flaws and character — which can give your dish rustic authenticity.

Play with scent

Though it may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about food presentation, scent is just as important to making a beautiful impression as aesthetics are. Stamenov has a few unique tricks to make your dishes extra-fragrant. “Before serving meat, add some dried rosemary or thyme sprigs, and then torch them like a candle for a great herb scent as you bring them to the table. You can put the sprigs in the oven for a short while to dry them out beforehand,” says Stamenov. “While slow-grilling meat, add citrus leaves, rosemary sprigs, wild fennel or even walnuts and almonds, as they give off a great sweet, nutty smoke.”

Avoid splatters

Taking a moment to wipe down the edge of a plate or bowl to get rid of drips can make a big difference. “When you think of kitchen tools, most people think of knives, spoons, or pots and pans, but one of the greatest tools in the Ai Fiori kitchen are plate wipes,” says Chef Scot Schneider of Ai Fiori in New York City. “We use a white textureless towel soaked in water and white vinegar. The vinegar helps to cut down any water streaks left on the plate. When a guest in our restaurant receives a dish, the food should be what the eyes see — not a finger print or sauce spot on the edge of your plate.”

Chopping and peeling fruits and veggies can be suuuuch a drag sometimes. It can take up so much of your time in the kitchen and even bring you to tears. Well, not any more! Use these chopping and peeling hacks and make your life easier.

  • Wanna know the easy way to cut a tomato? Slice the end off, then stand it on its end. Slice in one direction, without cutting it all the way through. Rotate 90° and slice in that direction in the same manner. Then, lay it on it's side and slice all the way through. So easy!
  • Put an onion in the freezer for 30 minutes before chopping and you'll have NO MORE TEARS! Say buh-bye to the goggles .
  • Use a glass to easily peel mangoes.
  • Quickly hull a strawberry by putting a straw in the tip and pushing it through the other end to remove the stem.
  • Use your pizza cutter to cut herbs. It's SO easy!
  • Mincing lots of garlic? Add a pinch of salt so you don’t have the annoying problem of garlic sticking to your knife.
  • Peel a kiwi with a spoon! Cut the ends off with a knife, then stick the spoon inside against the peel and go around until it's completely peeled.
  • Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over garlic before mincing and say BUH-BYE to sticky garlic all over your fingers and knife.
  • Use an apple slicer to cut your potatoes into wedges for steak fries.
  • Pit and peel an avocado with just a knife. Slice the avocado into quarters lengthwise to break away from the pit. Then, use the knife to peel back the tip of each section and peel it off like a banana.
  • Use a bundt pan to cut the kernels off your corn cobs. Stand the cob on the middle part while cutting and the pan will catch the kernels for you.
  • Use an egg slicer to slice mushrooms and strawberries.
  • Use two plates to slice cherry tomatoes in one motion. Put them on a plate, cover with another plate, and take your knife between the two plates to cut them in half. Voila!

  • Need to cut butter into your dough mixture, but don't have the right tool? Grate it ! It'll cut it into small enough pieces you can stir in without having to do much work.
  • Need to soften a stick of butter but forgot to set it out? Dice the butter into small pieces and let it sit on the counter for about 20 minutes. The smaller the pieces, the quicker it'll come to room temperature.
  • Or, soften cold butter in just a few minutes by placing a warm glass upside down over it. Warm the glass by placing hot water in it and pouring it out. A whole stick won't fit, but it'll be spreadable in just a few minutes!
  • Before grating semisoft cheese , like mozzarella, stick it in the freezer for up to 30 minutes.
  • No buttermilk? Vinegar can transform regular milk into buttermilk (1 cup milk + 1 tbsp vinegar, let sit for 10 minutes).
  • Grate blocks of cheese using a food processor . If you don't have one, spray your handheld grater with a little bit of cooking spray and the cheese won't stick to it.

  • Separate bananas when you get home from the grocery store so your kids won't bruise them when trying to take them apart.
  • After separating bananas, rinse the ends off and dry so fruit flies won't hatch!
  • Sprinkle a few drops of lemon and cover tightly to keep your guacamole fresh and delish!
  • Get more juice from lemons and limes by microwaving for 7-10 seconds. Then roll back and forth on the counter with your hand before cutting. You'll get more juice with less effort when you do this!

  • Not sure if your eggs are too old to use? Do the float test! Put them in a bowl of water see if they. If they do, it's time to throw them out.
  • Neutralize garlic or onion smells on your hands by rubbing them with lemon juice, baking soda, or stainless steel.

Can’t Find Eclipse Glasses? Here’s What to Do.

Reliable paper-framed glasses are by far the most popular option for safely watching the total solar eclipse on Monday. But they’ve gotten more difficult to find in some places ahead of the event.

If you’ve checked everywhere — your local planetarium, public library and even online — fear not: There is still a way to watch the eclipse safely, using items around the house. Here are a few options.

Use your hands

Palms up, position one hand over the other at a 90-degree angle. Open your fingers slightly in a waffle pattern, and allow sunlight to stream through the spaces onto the ground, or another surface. During the eclipse, you will see a projection of the moon obscuring the surface of the sun.

This method works with anything with holes, such as a straw hat, a strainer, a cheese grater or even a perforated spoon. You will also notice this effect when light from the partially eclipsed sun streams through leaves on a tree.

Set up a cardstock screen

For this option, you need a couple of white index cards or two sheets of cardstock paper. First, punch a small hole in the middle of one of the cards using a thumbtack or a pin.

Then, facing away from the sun, allow light to stream through this pinhole. Position the second card underneath to function as a screen. Adjust the spacing between the two cards to make the projection of the sun larger or smaller.

Make a box projector

If you’re up for a bit of crafting, you can make a more sophisticated pinhole projector . Start with a cardboard box — empty cereal boxes are often used, but you can use a larger box, too. You’ll also need scissors, white paper, tape, aluminum foil and a pin or thumbtack.

Cut the piece of paper to fit the inside bottom of the cardboard box to act as a screen. Use tape to hold it in place.

On the top of the box, cut two rectangular holes on either side. (The middle should be left intact — you can use tape to secure this if needed.)

Tape a piece of aluminum foil over one of the rectangular cutouts. Punch a tiny hole in the middle of the foil with the tack or pin. The other cutout will serve as a view hole.

With your back to the sun, position the foil side of the box over your shoulder, letting light stream through the pinhole. An image of the sun will project onto the screen at the bottom of the box, which you can see through the view hole. A bigger box will create a bigger image.

Enjoy the show through any of these makeshift pinholes. And remember, during totality, you can view the sun directly with your naked eye. But you should stop looking at the sun as soon as it reappears.

This is a place where luxury is king and where opulence takes a front seat in every aspect of life. The buildings are grand and imposing, the parks are luscious and enormous, and even the subway stations look different in Moscow than anywhere else in the world.

Walking around Moscow is also going through the tumultuous history of the 20th century, which had Russia as one of its main protagonists. After living in Russia’s capital as an ex-pat for four years, I got the privilege to experience not only the main attractions in Moscow but also the everyday life in this huge city and quickly found my sweat spots off the beaten tracks! So here is my list of my top 17 things to do in this exciting metropolis!

Attractions in Moscow

When visiting a famous city like this one, it’s a must to go through the most iconic landmarks first. Moscow has plenty of those, most of them in the center of the city, which is very well-planned for tourists.

1. The Red Square, Kremlin & Surrounding Area

No place tells the story of Moscow’s power in the past century the way the Red Square does. This is where the biggest political meetings in the USSR occurred for many decades, and you can feel the power on each step.

Here, you’ll also find the historic museum at the entrance, showcasing the decades of history behind this iconic landmark. The Lenin Mausoleum, perhaps the most famous resting place in the world and home to the remains of the former communist leader, is also here.

On one side of the Red Square you’ll find the Kremlin, the fortified complex that now hosts the presidential residence. This is also home to the most iconic of all Moscovite landmarks: St. Basil’s Cathedral, a 16th-century marvel of colors. This is the best spot to take a selfie and show the world you’ve reached the Russian capital!

3. Luxury Shopping at GUM and TSUM

While many might think of Moscow as the sad place with the long bread queues from the USSR days, it’s been quite the capitalist haven for a while.

If you’re up for some shopping, you’ll find one of the biggest luxury malls in town, TSUM, right behind the Bolshoi and GUM, at the red square. GUM is the most famous department store in town, where you’ll find luxury everywhere and all high-end brand. 

All in an imposing late 19th-century building with lots of history, worth a visit just for the design, its bridges and the glass roof even though you are not up for shopping!

4. Christ the Savior Cathedral

A newer addition to the gorgeous Moscovite cathedrals and my grandeur neighbor during my years in the city Don’t let the young age of this building fool you. After the perestroika in the early 90s, the newly revived Russian Orthodox Church received permission to build a cathedral on this site. They did the location honors and built the largest temple of the Christian Orthodox Church.

The façade is as grand as you’d expect, but it’s the inside that will mesmerize you, with its domes as tall as the skies in bright gold and gorgeous paintings and decor! Bring a shawl to cover your hair to adjust to the local tradition.

Head to the back of the cathedral and you will find one of the most photographed bridges in Moscow, the Patriarshiy Most. This is the perfect spot to get a good view and photo of the cathedral but also to see the Kreml and Gorky Park from a distance. Or why not just enjoy a moment watching the river and its boats!

5. Gorky Park

Cross the river and head to Gorky Park along the Moscow river. The most famous green area in town, similar to New York ’s Central Park and the weekend hangout for locals. There are many beautiful parks in the city, but if you’re only visiting for a few days, this is the unmissable one! 

With fair attractions to entertain children, beautiful artificial lakes and gardens, and lots of outdoor activities, it’s a lovely place to relax. A place of rest in the middle of the metropolis. The area in front of the New Tretyakov Gallery & the Muzeon Park of Arts is actually one of my favorite oasis as a bit more quiet and peaceful than Gorky itself.

Why not spend some time in the museum to get a great tour of Russia’s history through art or just enjoy the art exhibition outside where local artists spend their weekends. 

6. River Cruising

One of the best ways to experience Moscow is from the Moscow River. There are many stops for the boats and one is just next to Gorky Park. See the city from another perspective – and turn the ride into a romantic one by taking the evening cruise. Moscow is magic during the night.

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, take the Radisson Blu cruise – or the Erwin for a delicious seafood dinner. Both stop at Gorky or at the luxury Radisson Royal Hotel, set in one of the Seven Sister’s skyscrapers.

7. Metro Hopping

First inaugurated in the 1930s, the Moscow subway system is one of the oldest in the world, and certainly the most beautiful. Started under Stalinist times, each metro station is dedicated to grandeur and oozing personality.

Visiting the subway stops is an attraction in and of itself, and Komsomolskaya, Mayakovskaya, Kropotkinskaya are my favorites. Those surrounding the Red Square are also mesmerizing – in general, these are kind of like underground palaces.

Most of the signs at the Moscow Metro now have Latin letters, so it’s very easy to get around!Unfortunately, the trains are not as beautiful and pleasant as the stations but still, this is a true Moscow experience.  Take a guided tour of the 9 most beautiful Metro Stations including the award-winning art deco station. 8. Arbatskaya & Artsy Moscow

Novy Arbat Street is one of the most touristy areas in the city, with lots of shops and cafés directed at visitors. When you walk a little beyond, you’ll find a different part of town, where the hip scene thrives because so many artists live in the area. Just follow the small streets with fewer tourists!

9. Moscow State University View

In his effort to create a grander Moscow, Stalin had seven skyscrapers built in different parts of town; they’re called the Seven Sisters. The largest of these buildings hosts the main building of the Moscow State University, one of the most prestigious colleges in Russia – and the one with the best view.

Although this is a little outside the city centre, the sight from above is more than worth it, with the nearby fountains and park and then the whole of the city behind them.

10. Russian Market

If you love to visit markets wherever you go, Moscow has one of the most impressive ones in the world – the Izmailovsky. You can easily take the metro here and feel like you’ve been transported to another time.

This place was first built in the 16th century and retains the look of an old fairytale, with a lineup of colorful old castle. A lovely local experience beyond the confines of the bustling metropolis, where you can also try some delicious Russian barbecue.

Here, you’ll find beautiful souvenirs at great prices.

Off The Beaten Track Moscow

Once you’ve covered the most touristic spots, Moscow still has plenty to offer – and the places below will also be full of locals! Moscow is a city for hipsters, full of trendy and arty spots where you can literally feel the creativity oozing! So for some local vibes, I would strongly recommend my sweat spots below!

11. Patriarshiye Prudy

This is my favorite area in the entire city! While Moscow is generally a very noisy metropolis, Patriarch Ponds is far quieter, yet such a vibrant place. This is a very hip and trendy area making you think you are rather in Paris than in Moscow. Here the streets are narrow and full of chic eateries and clubs to see the local crowd.

A little bohemian and with an air of peace you won’t find anywhere in the city this is a great spot to spend an afternoon with your thoughts.

12. ArtPlay

Barely 15 minutes away from the city center you’ll find the artsiest Moscow district: ArtPlay. For decades, this block was a factory, but it was renovated to become a hub for the arts not too long ago.

Now, you’ll find it’s full of exhibitions, showrooms and art schools – and some of the most creative people in town. Writers, painters, and young hip people use ArtPlay as a rendezvous, and you can feel the creative energy here. The industrial design with modern interior decoration is also a feast for the eyes!

13. Shopping Local Designs

If you’re into design, both international and local, you’ll find lots of cute things at Patriarshiye Prudy. Department store Podium Market is also a great spot for shopping, as a department store everywhere in town, with lots of local and international brands. There’s one in the Four Seasons Hotel next to Red Square. My favorite Moscow mall is Tsvetnoy Central Market, a cool spot with great brands, lots of inspo, and even a cute café!

14. Moscow City

Like many other great capitals of the world, for the past few decades, Moscow has hosted a super modern area full of modern skyscrapers – Moscow City. With a completely different vibe than the rest of town, it’s like a mini Dubai, with lots of impressively tall glass buildings. Here, you’ll find the best rooftops in towns, such as Ruski and Sixty they are perfect spots for dining or enjoying a glass of wine with a view. There are also a relatively new shopping mall with lots of international brands called Affimall!

Gone are the gloomy Moscow days – cold as it might be in the winter, Russia’s capital is a place for the senses. Great food and drinks abound – and the clubs are hot, too!

15. Where to Eat in Moscow

Moscow is a great metropolis where people love to dine out, and there are endless options for delicious food. The flavors are as diverse as you’d expect from a big city, with options of fine dining and little hipster eateries. 

  • For traditional Russian flavors, I can’t recommend Café Pushkin, Dr. Zhivago, and Turnadot enough.
  • When looking for international cuisines, Italian is always the way to go, and my local favorite is Probka.
  • Fine dining is best done among the clouds at White Rabbit, with European flavors.
  • As for the hip spots, you can spend a full day just eating around trendy places, from burgers to Asian fusion.

  • Patriarshiye Prudy offers a lot of small and classy spots with cool concepts, like breakfast restaurants I Love Cake and Fresh.
  • For dinner, I love the NYC experience of Saxon & Parole, and the wonderful trendy Pins, with its delicious food and drinks.
  • For delicious Asian food head to CutFish. 
  • Lastly, there’s a recent revival of food markets in Moscow, offering lots of great choices of international flavors at affordable places.
  • Don’t miss out the Vietnamese food stand at the Danilovsky market, and everything at Usachevsky!

16. Rooftopping

Big cities deserve to be seen from above, having a cocktail among the clouds. These are my recommendations for rooftop bars in Moscow.

  • As I mentioned in the Moscow City section, Sixty & Ruski are two of my favorites, overlooking the newest part of town. 
  • White Rabbit and its fine dining is also a lovely place for a fun dinner looking down on Moscow.
  • O2, in the city center, has an advantage above all others: amazing views of the Red Square.
  • Buono, above the Radisson Royal Hotel, might be the most romantic rooftop hotel in town, with its candlelit setting.
  • Also on the Radisson stands the Mercedes. It’s a luxurious and posh experience with delicious cocktails.
  • The Sky Lounge offers a peculiar experience, mixing an old Soviet building with futuristic additions.

17. Moscow by Night

Party the night away! The city is full of bars everywhere, but there are some areas where you’ll find more than others.

  • Patriarshiye Prudy has lots of hip and small clubs and great bars, including the super fun private club Clava, which has a great vibe and people from all walks of life.
  • For more hipster style bars, Red October is the place to go.
  • Streak is a summer favorite, with a lovely terrace to catch a beautiful sunset – plus, their mozzarella bar is delicious.
  • At night, Red October lights up with clubs everywhere, including the cool rooftop one Gipsy.
  • Jagger is also a great spot during summer with a more relaxed vibe in garden setting. 
  • For the traditional Russian luxury experience, go to SohoRooms, a whole other world including all-night go-go dancers.

There are so many things to do in Moscow at night and during the day, you definitely need several days to explore this exciting destination.

Moscow is a must-see city, a city like no other ! I hope you will enjoy this Russian metropolis as much as I did!

I hear Moscow is very beautiful at night. I hope to get out there one day. A friend of mine went to St. Petersburg and had a great experience. Despite all the tension we see on the news with Russia and other Countries like the U.S. I wonder what the sentiment is with Russians and foreigners visiting their country for tourism. Especially Americans.
