The effects of homework are debated. Generally speaking, homework does not improve academic performance among young children. Homework may improve academic skills among older students, especially lower-achieving students. However, homework also creates stress for students and parents, and reduces the amount of time that students can spend in other activities.

What is Homework?
The homework definition refers to the work given to students after class. It is intended to make students capable of doing things on their own and to recollect what they have learned in class. It is based on the teaching provided to them in class. This can be in written form or they might be asked to memorize a lesson.
Homework is part of a traditional classroom teaching technique where the teacher moderates the information provided to the students in class and checks their retention rate based on their performance. The method of teaching is usually lecture-based and does not involve dialogue between teacher and students.
Homework has to be done separately from the regular classwork. It also enables the student to revise what they learned in class. This is necessary as it allows the students to properly understand the work being done in schools.
It also helps develop the study skills and good work habits while also helping them learn to work under deadlines, usually without a teacher’s help. It also allows the parents to be in the loop of what is going on in the school.
In order to maintain the effectiveness of the same, teachers can ensure that the work is purposeful and does not take a lot of time. This will ensure that the students do not feel burdened by the homework.
Types of Homework
Now that you know what does homework mean, let’s understand the different types of homework that a teacher can give to students.
Worksheets: These are printable or online homework in which students are required to answer questions or complete activities related to the topic that is being taught. This type of homework can include multiple-choice questions, fill-in-the-blank exercises, short answer questions, or problem-solving tasks.
Projects or Experiments- Such types of homework are given in subjects like science in which there is knowledge to gain via experiments and practical work. For such homework, the students are required to conduct research, do analysis, collect data, and then finally based on all collected information a report is made.
Group Assignments- As its name suggests group homework definition is that it is the type of homework that is given by the teachers to students to be done in groups. In such homework, students are divided into groups for n numbers of members who will conduct research, and bring ideas to create the final report.
Creative Assessments- These are types of homework that teachers assign to do creative work, such as drawing, model making, performances, and skits to teach students in a unique way. At the Jersey Shore, the last thing you want to be labeled as is a stereotypical "shoobie." But what does the "S" word even mean?
Well, after asking numerous beach lovers for their thoughts on the label (and more than 500 comments later) here's what we found.
To put it simply, a shoobie is a non-resident of the shore.
Many posters in public beach community Facebook groups classified the term ... or realized that they may be shoobies themselves.
"I live in interior NJ and never considered myself a shoobie," Sherri Lynn wrote in "Ocean City 08226," a Facebook group. "I always thought shoobies were visitors to the beach from out of state."
"Guess I was wrong," she added with a laughing emoji.
Others were of the opinion that you're a shoobie if you haven't spent a winter at the shore, don't pay taxes in the off-season or aren't from the town originally.
Whether a shoobie, a local or an "off-islander," as some suggested as a third, middle option, the discourse around labels at the Jersey Shore seems unending.
According to locals of Ocean City and Cape May, the term shoobie originated as an old nickname for vacationers who visited the shore from the Philadelphia area and would bring their lunches in a shoebox — hence, the shoobie name.
The label was also described as being rooted in classism, making fun of poorer tourists as opposed to those that could afford to live by the shore.
Now, however, the term has taken a much broader and more negative connotation.
If you were to ask how the locals feel about shoobies, you'd get a mixed bag of opinions.
"This could get ugly," Mary Farrell wrote in the Facebook group "Wildwood Talk."
It's not uncommon to see posts in these seaside-based Facebook pages complaining about shoobies, tourists or other non-locals. It can often seem like there's a rift between people who live at the beach and the tourists that spend their time (and money) there.
Some locals now use the term "shoobie" negatively to describe disrespectful tourists.
It's a name residents may use for visitors who are rude, who leave trash where it shouldn't be and who disrespect the town.
But as Diane Campbell-Sullivan pointed out in the "Ocean City NJ 08226" Facebook group: "There are good and bad behaviors exhibited by locals and non-locals. Labels aren’t going to change that!"

Nate Armstrong, a 21-year-old college student whose parents own a house in Ocean City and live there part-time, shared his thoughts on the topic.
"Shoobie is an umbrella term for tourists, day trippers, weekend warriors, and renters, commonly used by the local folks," he said.
He added, however, that he's often heard the word used in a derogatory fashion, especially when some tourists don't show respect for the local community.
Many locals that use the term, Armstrong said, are "self-righteous," or "seem to believe that they own the island simply because they live there," even though tourists bring money to the local economy.
"I do believe the term is used by the loud minority of locals," he said. "And, for the most part, locals love the shoobies and visa versa."
Armstrong's opinion seemed to be echoed by a lot of other people in Wildwood, Ocean City and Cape May groups.
"Tourism is the lifeblood of the community ... people should be welcoming and gracious to those that visit here," said Robert Pinto in the "We Love Cape May" Facebook group.
Other commentors and tourists throughout the different beach towns shared that they had never experienced as much negativity with locals in person as they've seen through social media.
And many locals admitted to loving the tourists that keep their towns busy and their "taxes low."
While there are likely true accounts of tourists earning some shoobie slander by disobeying local rules (written and unwritten), it seems safe to say that social media could make any frictions between residents and tourists more exaggerated than they are in reality.
