National Overseas Scholarship for Minority Community Students, Karnataka
Run by the Directorate of Minorities, Government of Karnataka, the scholarship is applicable for graduates, postgraduates and PhD scholars of Karnataka domicile who also belong to the Minority Community. The selected scholars under this scheme can receive financial aid of up to ₹20 Lakh for up to 2 years to pursue higher studies abroad.
Scheme of Overseas Scholarships for SC/ST Students, Karnataka
This Karnataka scholarship scheme is meant for students of Karnataka who belong to the SC/ST category to allow them to pursue their master’s and PhD level of studies abroad. Functional under the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Karnataka, the scheme offers up to 100% financial assistance to selected students for their studies abroad.
Research Guidance PhD Fellowship for Backward Classes, Karnataka

This incentive scheme is run by the Minority Welfare Department, Directorate of Minorities , Government of Karnataka to help students of the minority community. Students who have passed class 10 (SSLC) and class 12 (2 nd PUC) with 85% of marks or above in the examinations conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board or Department of Pre-University Education will receive the benefits under this incentive scheme.
The top 1000 SSLC and top 1000 2 nd PUC students of the minority community can win one-time incentives of ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 respectively.
Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities of Karnataka
The scholarship scheme is being offered by the Directorate of Minorities, Government of Karnataka to encourage the students belonging to minority communities to continue their education without any financial constraint. The students of Classes 1 to 10 who have obtained 50% or more scores in the previous examination can apply for this scholarship. The scholarship covers the admission fee, tuition fee and maintenance allowance.
Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities of Karnataka
This Karnataka scholarship aims at encouraging and providing financial assistance to the students of the minority community of the state to allow them to continue their studies at the post-matriculation level. Applicable mainly to students of communities such as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, and Jains, the scholarship tends to cover the admission fee, maintenance allowance and tuition fee. Students studying in the Classes 11 to PhD level are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
MPhil and PhD Fellowship for Minority Students, Karnataka
With an objective to provide financial assistance to the minority community of the Karnataka state, the scheme has been introduced by the Government of Karnataka. The students belonging to Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi community who wants to study MPhil and PhD are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship for Minorities, Karnataka
This is a popular scholarship for students belonging to minority communities who are willing to pursue a professional or technical course. Run by the Directorate of Minorities, Government of Karnataka, the scholarship offers rewards up to ₹30,000 to students who secure more than 50% marks in the previous examination and have an annual family income of less the ₹2.5 Lakh.
Samagra Shikshana Karnataka Fellowship
Run by the Department of Education, Government of Karnataka, this fellowship program is applicable for students having a postgraduate/professional/any other degree in Social Sciences or Public Policy with relevant work experience of 3 to 10 years. The selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of ₹70,000 for the duration of the fellowship.
Karnataka Scholarships 2024 – Eligibility Criteria & Awards
Every scholarship has its own set of eligibility conditions and scholarship amount. Below is the detailed eligibility conditions of all Karnataka scholarships.
- The students of the Minority community (Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs and Parsis) can apply for the scholarship
- The scholarship is applicable to Master’s, PhD, and Postdoctoral degrees
- Your age should not be more than 38 years from the commencement of the course
- The marks scored in the last degree should be 60% or its equivalent grade
- The scholarship is applicable for selective courses only
- Scholarship up to ₹20 Lakh per annum (for 2 years) covering the cost of course, living expenses and one side airfare
- The students belonging to SC or ST community can apply
- The students should have an admission letter for courses from any reputed university in the world
- The streams of study that come under this scholarship are Humanities, Pure Sciences & Applied Sciences, International Commerce, Agriculture Sciences & Medicines, Engineering & Management, Social Science & Law, Accounting Finance, Fine Atrs, and Economics.
- The marks obtained by the applicant in the previous degree should be 55% or its equivalent grade for Ph.D and Master’s degree and 80% or its equivalent grade in qualifying exam for undergraduate courses.
- The candidate’s age should not exceed 35 years (for Ph.D and Master’s) and 21 years (for Bachelor’s) as of the first day of the month in which the notification is issued.
- Actual tuition fee (as charged)
- Annual maintenance allowance(accommodation and food) up to ₹8 lakhs or 75% of the approximate cost given by the University(whichever is less)
- Medical insurance (as charged)
- Books and miscellaneous allowance of ₹1 lakh per year
- Actual visa fees
- Airfare from India to current study destination and back to India
- The candidates engaged in a full-time PhD program under research guidance from a university or institution in Karnataka can apply
- The minimum percentage of marks obtained in the master’s degree program should be 55%
- The age of the candidate should not be more than 35 years
- You should also meet the income criteria as specified
- ₹10,000 per month
- You must belong to the Minority community (Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Sikhs)
- You must have passed class 10 th or 12 th with 85% marks or above
- A one-time incentive of ₹10,000 to SSLC students and ₹20,000 to 2 nd PUC students
- The scheme is applicable to Minority community students
- The percentage of marks obtained by the student in the previous annual examination should be more than 50% (Not applicable for students of class 1st)
- The students who are domicile of Karnataka but studying in some other state can apply
- The students belonging to other states who are studying in Karnataka cannot apply
- The family income of the applicant should not be more than ₹1 Lakh from all sources
- The scholarship covers tuition fees, admission fees and maintenance allowance
- Only minority community students can apply
- The students of class 11 th to PhD level can apply
- The marks obtained in the previous qualifying examination should be 50% or above
- The annual family income should not be more than ₹2.5 Lakh
- The students pursuing studies through correspondence or certificate/training level courses cannot apply
- It is applicable only to Minority community students
- The student must be pursuing graduation or post-graduation in a professional/technical stream
- The marks obtained in the previous examination should be more than 50%
- The total annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹2.5 Lakh
- Scholarships up to ₹30,000
