I want to thank Dr. Agarwal at New Hope Çancer Research for her endeavour in helping her patients. You have taken care of my dad since 2017 and always have your clients best interest. I want to especially thank Nancy for helping me obtaining documents also thank Jose and Catherine for being so quick with the referrals. On behalf of my dad and I.. Thank you. We'll be seeing you soon. The reviews before me do not reflect any experiences I have seen since we started going there and it's so sad that's how they feel.

I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother, who gets treated worse than a stray animal here at this office. Some backstory: My mom has been with this physician for 30+ years. She doesn't want special treatment; she just would like some common courtesy, reasonable follow up time, and a degree of acknowledgment at the office with the PAs in regards to appointment details and arrangements, setting straight information for insurance providers, and other essential medical details. To be treated so condescendingly on every occasion, and to have the PAs respond so dismissively - it ultimately (and this is sad to report) falls on the shoulders of the physician herself, Dr. Vandana Argawahl. She has been informed of Lupe and Priscilla's recent actions, comments, and atrocious attitudes in the office, to which Dr. Argawahl replied, "I've heard of similar stories, and I've been meaning to do something about it." The PAs, Lupe and Priscilla, have no business working there. In fact, they have no business working in this field. They treat my mother like dirt, ignore her calls or in-person requests, lie about making phone calls to insurance providers, and send wrong diagnosis to requesting insurance providers on multiple occasions. I've even called and left two messages and they ignored them. At one point the head PA, Lupe, lied about the insurance provider (SCAN) not being reachable (she even said, "it was the wrong number"), but then my mom called SCAN right there in the lobby in front of Lupe to prove a point that they WERE in fact reachable and that it in fact WAS the right number, to which Lupe had no response or apology, and then just proceeded to get back on the phone to pretend like she was busy and that my mother was just a complete waste of her time. I'm sick to my stomach hearing of these stories that my mom reports to me. My mom doesn't complain much, yet here she is trying to reason with a couple of egotistical narcissists who think they have every right in the world to be dismissive and rude, while literally putting my mom's health (and others' health after reading these other reviews) in constant danger with their lack of concern, compassion, and basic professionalism in this field. Shame on the both of you! You've left me with NO choice but to report you specifically to the Physician's Assistant Board of Medicine, to which myself and my mother will follow up this week with yesterday's incident - as well as other documented incidents in the recent past. It's quite unfortunate that it has come to this, when my mother and myself were making attempts to reason with forthright communication (which Lupe and Priscilla simply ignored).

This place is a joke do not come here They have the worse patient service they don't care about the patients and do not wanna bother helping those in need I am glad I will not be returning here my life is more important than the crappy service they have. The doctor is very rude so off to another place

GREAT DR, but the front office staff very rude and unprofessional. If it wasn't for Dr I'd be gone!!!!

My father went in for an infusion. He was weak. Has severe anemia. He has full benefits with no copay which we verified and he himself verified. He has never paid for an infusion. Benefits do not change at this point in the year I know this as I am a benefits specialist. He was refused service because he did not pay $10. He merely was questioning why he was being charged $10 and nobody could give him an answer other than "that's what the doctor is charging". Mind you, full benefits, no copay it is even on his current benefits card. I understand it's only $10 but to someone who is on a limited, fixed income this means groceries, gas for his car, simple necessities. He ended up going to the emergency room where he was properly rendered services with no copay.

Photo of Rene A.

This Place is Horrible. The doctor has no Patience for people and I was Told I couldn't ask more then one Question. I would have to make an Appointment for each Question I have for her. A. Vandana is a Horrible Doctor. She lost her Faith and Heart to help people when she saw the Money not the Patient. The communication between her and the front Desk is Just as Bad. If it's not the Gossip or the Starbucks they don't listen even pay any attention to the Patient. The wait time is Ridiculous If your on time they're late If your late they're to busy all of a Sudden to see you. Then you Extra Wait.

Photo of Lisa T.

This place should be shut down. My father, was refused his treatment because of an apparent past due amount of $10.05. He didn't refuse to pay, but asked what it was for since his insurance leaves him with zero copays. The front receptionist repeatedly said " it's the doctor's policy". REFUSED HIS TREATMENT. The receptionist that's short, dark with bleach blonde hair. How dare this medical office refuse the elderly their needed treatments and fail to explain a charge. Because of them turning my father away, he was taken to an emergency room at his nearest hospital. The receptionist and doctor should not be in patient care. Advice for everyone : DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE.

I was employed here for two weeks. Dr.Agarwal is very rude due her being this way her physician assistant Jackson quit. Being a new employee and in training when asking doctor any questions she would get upset and if she was in a bad mood her PA would have to see her patients. She refused chemo for a patient stating she wasn't doing or running charity that he needed to pay copayment of 10.00 while patient didn't own anything he was refused service twice. She is only in it for the money. I can see why her previous employees have quit and resign. Her patients when I was bringing them for vitals also said the same thing " let's see how long you last because she fires anyone". She does not know how to run an office. Please do not come here find another doctor. Her referral authorization person submits authorizations wrong and can only be contacted via email.

Photo of Laura M.

Vandana Argawal is a very unprofessional, rude, so called doctor. Took my dad for his appt today...after waiting for 45 minutes come to find out she's in a meeting...then she comes into the room with an attitude and as I asked questions she didn't like it so then proceeds to ask me if I have power of attorney and I laughed as to why I need it since my dad is sitting right next to me...then I asked another question and proceeds to tell me she needs power of attorney because she has been sued before for this...whatever she was talking about. Proceeded to explain my dads blood work and said no reason for him to go back, which I wouldn't take him back anyways, then showed the paperwork towards me and opened the door and as she walks out says DONT COME BACK!!! WTF!!! So I said well this explains why you get sued because you treat patients like crap! So I'm taking this as far as I can! I filed a grievance with Healthnet on my dads behalf and on all the other poor patients that have been treated this way by her and can't speak for themselves. IF ANYONE GETS REFERRED TO HER, DO NOT GO TO HER!!! People need to speak up against her!!!!

City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center

Founded in 1913, City of Hope began focusing on cancer research and treatment in the late 1940s. Receiving its NCI designation in 1981 and its designation as a comprehensive cancer center in 1998, City of Hope is today a biomedical research, treatment, and education center.

The Center’s more than 200 physicians and scientists are dedicated to developing innovative, disease-fighting strategies in the battle against cancer. In this multidisciplinary, interactive environment, basic, clinical, translational, and prevention and control scientists work closely together. Their work is a continuum, starting with research on the biomedical mechanisms of cancer genesis and progression, moving on to the development of new therapies, testing those treatments in clinical trials, and, finally, delivering the best in patient care and providing support and education to patients, their families, and the public. That work contributes to further understanding of cancer risk assessment and prevention. Examples of the basic research findings developed at City of Hope are recombinant DNA technology and monoclonal antibodies and these discoveries were then applied to therapy.

City of Hope houses the National Medical Center, Beckman Research Institute, City of Hope Medical Foundation and the Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences. Major facilities include City of Hope Helford Clinical Research Hospital and the Center for Biomedicine & Genetics, a manufacturing facility specializing in the production of pharmaceutical materials. Some of the cancers researched and treated at City of Hope include hematologic malignancies and solid tumors including breast, genitourinary/prostate, thoracic/lung, gastrointestinal/liver, musculoskeletal, gynecological, and brain cancers, as well as several pediatric cancers.

There are three major areas of research at the Center. The Cancer Biology program conducts basic laboratory research, contributing to understanding the underlying genetic, molecular, and biological bases of cancer. City of Hope’s clinical and translational research area consists of Developmental Cancer Therapeutics, Cancer Immunotherapeutics, and Hematologic Malignancies. These programs translate laboratory observations into patient treatments.

The third area encompasses the Center’s Cancer Control and Population Sciences program. It includes a broad spectrum of disciplines and is complemented by collaborations with physician investigators. This program focuses on four areas of concentration: host and environmental determinants of cancer; health-related outcomes and quality-of-life after cancer; interventional studies to reduce cancer-related morbidity; and educational initiatives.

Frequent interactions among investigators in the various City of Hope research programs result in shared insights. The research flow is circular, moving from prevention and basic discovery to treatment and providing insights back to basic and preventive research. These interrelated studies often link to Phase I and II clinical trials. They also are part of follow-up studies in survivorship and symptom management.

City of Hope collaborates with numerous other institutions through the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, the Southwest Oncology Group, the Clinical Trials Consortium, the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, and the Children’s Oncology Group.

Supercharging Breakthroughs

The answer to cancer is within each of us — our immune system.

New scientific breakthroughs have revealed that the immune system has the power to seek out and destroy cancer cells anywhere in our bodies. Immunotherapies are a new class of cancer treatments that mobilize our immune system and equip it to break through cancer’s defenses. As a result, millions of cancer patients from around the world now have more treatment options, more hope, and more chances of living a longer life.

Immunotherapy: A Treatment Unlike Any Other

Based on decades of scientific research, numerous immune-based approaches have been found to treat, and in some cases cure, some of the most prevalent and aggressive forms of cancers. Chemotherapy and radiation act directly on the cancer cells but also can damage healthy cells. The therapeutic activity of these older treatments is limited to the time of treatment. In contrast, immunotherapy helps the immune system specifically target cancer cells, sparing normal tissue.

A Universal Answer to Cancer

Immunotherapy has the potential to become a universal treatment for all cancers. The positive responses in millions of patients treated with immunotherapy have established proof of concept. Immunotherapy can be administered alone or in combination with conventional treatments, making it an effective and smarter way to treat cancer. We are certain that immunotherapy will one day prove effective in treating patients with any type of cancer.

Without further progress in cancer research, cancer is poised to become the number one cause of death worldwide. Immunotherapy research offers the greatest hope for a world immune to cancer.

Taking Action To Save More Lives

Working with our global alliance of researchers, supporters, patients, and advocates, CRI is able to identify and fund the brightest and most promising cancer immunotherapy scientists worldwide—all while promoting awareness, sharing up-to-date immunotherapy information, and inspiring lifelong advocacy for the cause.
