The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established in Kenya in 1979 through the Science and Technology (Repealed) Act, Cap 250 of the Laws of Kenya operated under the Science Technology and Innovation Act, 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out research in human health in Kenya. 1. Senior Research Administrator – The Senior Research Administrator will manage maternal health research studies, focusing on immunization and malaria during pregnancy. Working with investigators, they’ll oversee stakeholder engagement, protocol development, and staff training. Key duties include reviewing procedures and forms, coordinating fieldwork across sites, and managing protocol submissions.

2. Clinical Research Scientist – The incumbent will be the trial manager and co-investigator, responsible for overseeing all stages of the development of a first-trimester adaptive platform malaria treatment trial in western Kenya.

3. (A) Nurse – The Nurse will provide essential medical care and support to patients participating in research studies. This role involves patient monitoring, administering treatments, and ensuring the overall well-being of participants, all while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care.

(B) Laboratory Technologists – Laboratory Technologists at KEMRI will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests, analyzing samples, and maintaining laboratory equipment. They play a crucial role in the research process by providing accurate and reliable data that informs the outcomes of clinical studies. (2 posts)

(C) Fieldworkers – Fieldworkers are integral to KEMRI’s research efforts, as they collect data directly from communities and study participants. This role involves conducting interviews, gathering biological samples, and ensuring the accurate recording of data, often in challenging field conditions. (7 posts)

4. Senior Laboratory Analyst – Applicant should have at least four(4) years clinical or research laboratory supervisory or managerial experience.

6. Regulatory Coordinator – The Regulatory Coordinator is immediately responsible for all aspect of the ensuring regulatory compliance of the study intervention

7. Laboratory Analyst – The candidate will be responsible for validating and conducting laboratory analyses to support projects designed to test for micronutrients, detect phenotypic HRP2/3 gene deletions in Plasmodium falciparum using a novel multiplex bead-based assay (MBA) and genotypic confirmation using next generation sequencing (NGS) and other clinical and laboratory research-based assays.
