‘‘ಬೊಂಬೆಯಾಟವಯ್ಯಾ’’ ಅನ್ನುವ ಹಾಡಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳಲು ಹೊರಟಿಲ್ಲ, ನಾನು. ಬಾಳಿನುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲ ಚಲನವಲನಗಳನ್ನ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಮನೋಭಾವದಿಂದ ನಡೆಸುವುದರಿಂದ ಏನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಎಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಿದೆ- ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯಬಯಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಂತೂ ಬಹುತೇಕ ನಮ್ಮ ನಿತ್ಯ ಜೀವನದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ಒಂದಲ್ಲ ಒಂದು ತರಹಾ ‘ಆಟ’ವೇನೇ! ನಾವು ‘ಮಾಡು’ವುದೆಲ್ಲವೂ’ ‘ಆಟ’ದಲ್ಲೇ ಅಂತ್ಯವಾಗುವಂತಹವು! ಓಡಾಟ, ನಡೆದಾಟ, ಅಲೆದಾಟ, ತಿರುಗಾಟ, ಸುತ್ತಾಟ; ತಡಕಾಟ, ಕುಲುಕಾಟ, ಒದ್ದಾಟ, ತೊಳಲಾಟ, ಕೂಗಾಟ, ಕಿರುಚಾಟ, ಹೊಡೆದಾಟ, ಬಡಿದಾಟ, ಕಾದಾಟ, ಗುದ್ದಾಟ, ಬಿದ್ದಾಟ, ಕಚ್ಚಾಟ, ಕಿತ್ತಾಟ, ತಿಕ್ಕಾಟ, ನುಗ್ಗಾಟ; ಹಾರಾಟ, ತೂರಾಟ, ತೇಲಾಟ, ಓಲಾಟ, ಜೋಲಾಟ, ತುಂಟಾಟ, ಚಿನ್ನಾಟ, ಚಲ್ಲಾಟ-ಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಒಂದಲ್ಲ ಒಂದು ಬಗೆಯ ಚಿಕ್ಕಾಟ, ಸಣ್ಣಾಟ, ದೊಡ್ಡಾಟ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಬಯಲಾಟಗಳೇ.
ನಾವು ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗಲೇ ಇದು ಶುರು. ‘‘ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಚಿಕ್ಕಂದಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಕ್ರಮಬದ್ಧವಾದ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚುಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಬೇಕು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಅವರ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಅಂತಹ ವಾತಾವರಣ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ಹೋದರೆ ಅವರುಗಳು ಎಂದೂ ಸದ್ವರ್ತನೆಯ ಗುಣಶೀಲ ನಾಗರಿಕರಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಾರರು’’- ಇದು ಗ್ರೀಕ್ ತತ್ವಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಸಾಕ್ರಟಿಸ್ನ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ.
‘‘ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳ ಸಮರ್ಪಕ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನದಿಂದಲೇ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಬೇಕು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಿದೆ, ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ಆಟಗಳಿಗೂ, ಮುಂದೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬೆಳೆದು ದೊಡ್ಡವರಾದಾಗ ಅವರು ಅನುಸರಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಕಾನೂನಿನ ಪಾಲನೆ ಅಥವಾ ಶಾಸನ-ಭಂಗಕ್ಕೂ ನಿಕಟ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಇದೆ.’’- ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಗ್ರೀಕ್ ದಾರ್ಶನಿಕ ಪ್ಲೇಟೊ.
ಬೇಟೆಯೇ ಬಹುಶಃ ಮಾನವನ ಮೊದಲ ಆಟ ಆಗಿರಬಹುದು. ಓಡಿ ಬೆನ್ನಟ್ಟುವುದು, ಜಿಗಿಯುವುದು, ನೆಗೆಯುವುದು, ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈಜುವುದು. ಹೀಗೆ ಜೀವನದ ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳೇ ಮುಂದೆ ಆಟದ ರೂಪ ಪಡೆದವು. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಬಂತು ಮಲ್ಲಯುದ್ಧ. ಸಾಹಸಿಗಳಿಗೇ ಉಳಿವು ಎಂಬ ಕಾಲವೊಂದಿತ್ತು. ಅಂದಿನ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಶಾಲಿಗಳಿಗೇ ಗೌರವ, ಶಕ್ತಿವಂತರಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಕ್ರಿಯಾಸಂಪನ್ನತೆಗೇ ಮನ್ನಣೆ ಸಹಜವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದದ್ದು, ಗ್ರೀಕ್ ದಂತ ಕಥೆಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಕ್ರಿ. ಪೂ. 1253. ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲೇ ನೋಡಿ, ಸಿಂಧೂ ನದಿ ಕಣಿವೆ ನಾಗರೀಕತೆಯಲ್ಲೂ, ಸುಮಾರು 4500 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಸಹ ಈ ನೆಲದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಆಟಿಕೆಗಳ ಅವಶೇಷಗಳು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿವೆ. ವೇದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೂಜಾಟ, ಪಗಡೆಯಾಟ, ಧನುರ್ವಿದ್ಯೆ, ಬೇಟೆ, ಕುದುರೆ ಸವಾರಿ, ಅಂಗಸಾಧನೆ, ಓಟ, ಈಜು, ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯವಿತ್ತು. ಭಾರತದ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯ (ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ನಲಂದಾ ಮತ್ತು ತಕ್ಷಶಿಲಾ) ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಶರೀರ ಬಲ ಸಂವರ್ಧನೆಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಹಲವು ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ದಿನನಿತ್ಯ ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಧಾರ ಇದೆ. ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಈಜು, ಪ್ರಾಣಯಾಮ, ಯೋಗಾಸನ, ಸೂರ್ಯನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಅಮೇಲೆ ಜಿಗಿತ, ಚೆಂಡಾಟ ಕಹಳೆ ಊದುವುದು ನಕಲಿ ನೇಗಿಲು ಉಳುವ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ, ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರಿಕೆ, ಗೋಲಿ ಆಟ, ರಥ ಓಡಿಸುವುದು, ಆನೆ ಸವಾರಿ, ಕತ್ತಿವರಸೆ, ಕುದುರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ರಥಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ಓಡುವುದು ಕುಸ್ತಿ, ಮುಷ್ಠಿಯುದ್ಧ- ಇವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದಿನವೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಆಟಗಳು. (ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ, ಕೇಳೀ, ಖೇಲಾ, ಖೇಲನ, ಖೇಳನ, ಕೂರ್ದನ, ಲೀಲಾ- ಎಂಬ ‘ಆಟ’ದ ಪದಗಳಿವೆ.) ನಲಂದಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿಯೇ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಂಗಣ ಇತ್ತು- ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಸಂಶೋಧಕರು.
ನಿರಂಜನರ ಸಂಪಾದಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಬಂದ ‘ಜ್ಞಾನಗಂಗೋತ್ರಿ- ಕಿರಿಯರ ವಿಶ್ವಕೋಶ’ದ ‘ಕ್ರೀಡೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮನೋಲ್ಲಾಸ’ ದ ಸಂಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿರುವಂತೆ, ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇಳಿರುವುದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಶರೀರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಬುನಾದಿ- ಎನ್ನಬಹುದು.
ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ‘ಒಳಾಂಗಣ ಆಟ’ ಮತ್ತು ‘ಹೊರಾಂಗಣ ಆಟ’ ಎಂದು ಸ್ಥೂಲವಾಗಿ ವಿಂಗಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಒಳಗೂ ಹೊರಗೂ ಆಡಬಹುದಾದ ‘ಉಭಯಾಂಗಣ ಆಟ’ಗಳು ಹುಡುಗ-ಹುಡುಗಿ ಯಾರು ಬೇಕಾದರೂ ಉಡಬಹುದಾದ ಕೆಲವು ಮಾದರಿಯ ಉಡುಪುಗಳಂತೆ ಅಷ್ಟೆ!
ಇನ್ನು, ಆಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರೇ ಆಡಬಹುದಾದದ್ದು ಕೆಲವೇ ಕೆಲವು: ಅಂಗಸಾಧನೆ, ಈಜು, ಉಯ್ಯಾಲೆ, ಕುದುರೆ ಸವಾರಿ, ಗಾಳಿಪಟ ಹಾರಿಸುವುದು, ಗೋಲಿಯಾಟ, ಚೆಂಡಾಟ, ಜಾವಲಿನ್ ಎಸೆತ, ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರಿಕೆ, ಬುಗುರಿಯಾಟ, ಬೇಟೆ, ಭಾರ ಎತ್ತುವಿಕೆ, ಮೀನುಹಿಡಿಯುವುದು, ಷಾಟ್ ಪುಟ್, ಸ್ಕಿಪ್ಪಿಂಗ್, ಸ್ಕೇಟಿಂಗ್-ಮುಂತಾದವು.‘ಅಂತ್ಯಾಕ್ಷರೀ’ ಆಟವನ್ನ ಒಬ್ಬರೇ ಆಡಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇನು? ಇಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ಬೇಕು, ಅದಕ್ಕೂ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಆಟಗಳಿಗೂ: ಇಸ್ಪೀಟ್, ಕರಾಟೆ, ಕವಡೆ ಆಟ, ಕುಸ್ತಿ, ಕೇರಂ, ಚೌಕಾಭಾರ, ಚೆಸ್, ಟೆನಿಕಾಯ್, ಟೇಬಲ್ ಟೆನ್ನಿಸ್, ಪಗಡೆ, ಪದಜೋಡಣೆ, ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್, ಮುಷ್ಠಿಯುದ್ಧ, ರನ್ನಿಂಗ್ ರೇಸ್, ಲಾನ್ ಟೆನ್ನಿಸ್, ಷಟಲ್ ಕಾಕ್- ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ.
‘ಇಷ್ಟಿಷ್ಟೇ ಮಂದಿ ಇರಬೇಕು’- ಎಂಬ ನಿಯಮವುಳ್ಳ ಆಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶ ಸಿಗುವುದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಪುಣ್ಯ: ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್, ಟೆನ್ನಿಸ್, ಥ್ರೋಬಾಲ್, ಫುಟ್ಬಾಲ್, ಪೋಲೋ, ವಾಲಿಬಾಲ್, ಸಾಕರ್, ಹಾಕಿ- ಹೀಗೆ ಕೆಲವು.
ಎಷ್ಟೆಷ್ಟು ಜನವಿದ್ದರೆ ಅಷ್ಟಷ್ಟು ಚೆನ್ನ, ಈ ಆಟಗಳಿಗೆ: ಅವಧಾನ, ಆಕಾಶಬುಟ್ಟಿ ಆಟ, ಅಪ್ಪಾಲೆ-ತಿಪ್ಪಾಲೆ, ಕಣ್ಣಾಮುಚ್ಚಾಲೆ, ಕಬ್ಬಡ್ಡಿ, ಕಂಬಳ, ಜಲಕ್ರೀಡೆ, ಕೋಲಾಟ, ಖೋಖೋ, ಗಾಲ್ಫ್, ಜೂಟಾಟ- ಈ ರೀತಿಯವು ಹಲವು.
ಕೆಲವು ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಆಟಗಳಿಗೇ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ, ಕೆಲವಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆ; ಉಳಿದವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕಷ್ಟೆ. ‘ಆಟಕ್ಕುಂಟು ಲೆಖ್ಖಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲ’. ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ‘ಹಾಕು ಮಣೆ, ನೂಕು ಮಣೆ, ತಕ್ಕೋ ಮಣೆ’-ಗಳು ಉಂಟು. ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಆಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಯಮಗಳ ಅಲ್ಪಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ, ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಟಗಳ ನಿಯಮಾವಳಿಗಳು ಅಂತರಾಷ್ರ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಗದಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿವೆ. ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆಟಗಾರರು ಬಲ್ಲವರಾಗಿರಬೇಕು.
ಯಾವುದೇ ಆಟವಾಗಿರಲಿ, ವಿನೋದ, ಚಿನ್ನಾಟಕ್ಕೇ ಆಗಿರಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಆಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿರುಚಿ, ಇಷ್ಟ, ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಇರಬೇಕು; ತೊಡಗಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಬಿಡದಿರುವಂಥ ದೃಢತೆ ಇರಬೇಕು. ಆಟವೆಂದೊಡನೆ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಾ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಜೊತೆ ಜೊತೆಗೇ ನೆರಳಾಗಿ ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ, ಇಲ್ಲ, ಒಡಗೂಡಿಯೇ ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತೆ. ಇದೇ ‘ಗೆಲ್ಲುಗಾರಿಕೆ’ಯ ಹಂಬಲ ಮುಂದೆ ಬೆಳೆದು ಕೊಲ್ಲಣ, ಕೊಲ್ಲಣಿಗೆ, ಜೂಜು, ಪಂದ್ಯ, ಪಂತ, ಪಂಥ, ಪಣ, ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ, ಪುರುಡು, ಪೈಪೋಟಿ, ಪೋಟಿ, ಬಾಜಿ, ಬಿಡಯ(ಸೆಣಸಾಟ), ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ, ಹುರುಡು, ಹೋರಾಟ; ಟೆಸ್ಟ್, ಸ್ಪೋರ್ಟ್ಸ್ ಮೀಟ್, ಅಥ್ಲೆಟಿಕ್ಸ್ ಮೀಟ್, ಮ್ಯಾಚ್, ಕಂಟೆಸ್ಟ್, ಕಾಂಪಿಟಿಷನ್, ಟೂರ್ನಮೆಂಟ್, ಡರ್ಬಿ, ಒಲಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್- ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ರೂಪ ತಾಳುವಂತಹವು.
ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಾಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಸಾಲದು. ಕೇವಲ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಇದ್ದವರು ಆಟಗಳ ಬರೀ ನೋಡುಗರಾಗಿ, ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿ ಉಳಿಯಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತೆ. ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆ ಇರಬೇಕು; ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ, ತರಬೇತಿ ಸಖತ್ ಬೇಕು. ‘ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ-ಅನುಸಾರಿಣೀ ವಿದ್ಯಾ’ ಎಂಬ ಲೋಕೋಕ್ತಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಶೇಕಡಾ ನೂರರಷ್ಟು ಸತ್ಯ. ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಂತೂ ಈ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಬಹು ಮುಖ್ಯ.
ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಆಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ಹಲವು ಗುಂಪು ಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಆಡುವ ತಂಡದ ಆಟಗಳು. ಆಟಗಾರನ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವೆಂದಾಗ ಅದು ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೇ ಒಟ್ಟು ತಂಡದ್ದೂ ಹೌದು; ಮತ್ತು ತಂಡದೊಳಗಿನ ಒಬ್ಬನ/ಳ ಸಮನ್ವಯತೆಯ ಚಾತುರ್ಯವೂ ಹೌದು. ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ತನ್ನ ತಂಡದ ಎಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಮೂಡಿಸಬಲ್ಲ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಷಮತೆ ಆಟಗಾರರು ಬೆಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ತಯಾರಿ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂರಕ ಮತ್ತು ಪೋಷಕ.
ಒಬ್ಬ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಆಟಗಾರನ/ಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಬೇಕಾದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಗುಣಗಳೆಂದರೆ ಯೋಜನಾ ಶಕ್ತಿ, ಮುಂದಾಗಬಹುದರ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ, ವಿವೇಚನೆ, ಕಟ್ಟೆಚ್ಚರ, ಏಕಾಗ್ರತೆ, ಸಮಯಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿ, ಎದೆಗುಂದದೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕೂಲ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುವ ಮನೋಭಾವ, ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಯ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಚಾಕಚಕ್ಯತೆಗಳು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕತೆಯ ಬಲ್ಮೆ (ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ) ಇದೆ; ಪಾಲುಗಾರಿಕೆಯ ಮೇಲ್ಮೆ (ಉನ್ನತಿ, ಏಳಿಗೆ) ಇದೆ; ಸಮಾನತೆಯ ನಲ್ಮೆ (ಸ್ನೇಹ, ಪ್ರೀತಿ) ಇದೆ, ಸಹಿಷ್ಣುತೆಯ ಒಳಸುಳಿ ಇದೆ, ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯ ಒಳಿತಿದೆ. ‘ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ, ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು’- ಎಂಬ ನೀತಿಯ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನದಿಂದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತ ರೀತಿಯ ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ಮತ್ತು ಎಂಥ ಬಲವಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದರ ಮನವರಿಕೆ ಆಟಗಾರನಿ/ಳಿಗೆ ಆಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
