How to submit an Assignment on myModules

Follow the steps below to complete an Written Assignment assessment:

• Open the Assignment  assessment.

• Complete the Take-Home assessment in MS Word or on paper. Note: MS Word documents needs to be saved as a PDF document and paper based answers needs to be scanned in to a combined PDF document.

• Note the file requirements such as:
• File size limit.
• Number of files that can be submitted.
• File formats allowed.

Assessment Settings - Submission Types

Common questions, assignment settings - submission types.

• Video Assignment - upload a video file to the UniSA Media Library.  This is the supported method for video assignments as it is automatically configure to provide the correct access to teaching staff in the relevant course.  
• File submissions - upload a file or multiple files depending on the other Submission type settings.  You can also use the Accepted file types option to specify the type of file required for the assessment.
• Mahara ePortfolio - link to an ePortfolio page or collection.  This option allows students to prepare their assessment submission in UniSA's ePortfolio - Mahara.  Note: until the submission is graded the student's submitted page / collection will be locked for editing.
• Online text - enter text directly into the assessment window.
• *Maximum number of uploaded files option limits the number of files that can be uploaded by an individual student. The default is one file. 
• *Maximum submission size  limits the file size that each student can upload. The default size is 100MB. 
• *Accepted file types  allows you to restrict the type of file students can upload by entering a file extension or clicking the Choose button to select from a list of file extensions.  If the text box is left empty, then all file types are allowed and this is the default setting. 
• Site  only applies if you have selected the Mahara ePortfolio box in the Submission types.
• Lock submitted pages applies to the Mahara ePortfolio submission type.
• Word limit option is only applicable if the Online text submission type is selected, it is used to create a maximum number of words that each student can submit.

They're critical and compulsory - you won't be allowed to write the examination unless you complete the relevant assessments (where applicable). They also contribute to your final mark, so it's vital that you complete them according to the specified guidelines.

Always keep a copy of your assessment in case you are requested to re-submit a copy.

Tips for completing assessments

Completing your assessments successfully involves

• reading the assessment instructions and questions .
• collecting the evidence , including photos, specimen documents and artefacts.
• compiling a structured response using study guides, lessons/study units, prescribed books, readings, observations, discussions, consulting a workplace mentor/learning supervisor and the internet ( please ensure that you are aware of what plagiarism is and avoid plagiarising the source materials ).
• using headings and subheadings (your assessment should include an introduction, a main heading, a description of the key facts, a conclusion and proper referencing, including in-text citations, a bibliography and acknowledgement, where applicable).
• providing as much factual information as possible, so that the marker can easily identify your knowledge and experience.
• ensuring that you refrain from academic dishonesty practices .

Remember: It's your responsibility to ensure that you assessments are received by Unisa . Do not wait until the closing date to submit your assessment. To check that Unisa has received your assignment, login to myUnisa , click on "myAdmin", "Assessment Admin" and then "Assignments submission".

You will only be allowed to resubmit assignments under the following conditions:

• You submit your assignment by the due date (no late submissions will be permitted).
• You do not submit the same assignment via myUnisa and mail.

Assignment results

Assessment results can be viewed on  myUnisa via myAdmin. To download marked written assessments, log onto your myModule site and follow these instructions. You will not be able to download the marked written assessment via myAdmin and the Assignment view. Marked final assessment files will not be available to download.

Unisa prescribes a set of minimum standards (academic progression rules) with which students must comply to ensure their continued registration with the university. These are set out in the Admission Policy.
