The best presentation software in 2024

These powerpoint alternatives go beyond the basics..

Hero image with logos of the best presentation software

The latest presentation apps have made it easier than ever to format slides and create professional-looking slideshows without giving off a "this is a template" vibe. Even standard PowerPoint alternatives have updated key features to make it easier than ever to collaborate and create presentations quickly, so you can spend more time prepping for your actual presentation.

If, like me, you've used Google Slides unquestioningly for years, it's a whole new world out there. The newest crop of online presentation tools go way beyond the classic slideshow experience, with new features to keep your audience's attention, streamline the creation process with AI, and turn slide decks into videos and interactive conversations.

I've been testing these apps for the past few years, and this time, I spent several days tinkering with 25 of the top presentation software solutions out there to bring you the best of the best.

The best presentation software

What makes the best presentation app, how we evaluate and test apps.

When looking for the best presentation apps, I wanted utility players. After all, slideshows are used for just about everything, from pitch decks and product launches to class lectures and church sermons. With that in mind, here's what I was looking for:

Pre-built templates. The best presentation tools should have attractive, professional-looking templates to build presentations in a hurry.

Sharing and collaboration options. Whether you plan to share your webinar slides later, or you just want to collaborate with a coworker on a presentation, it should be easy to share files and collaborate in real-time.

Flexibility and customization options. Templates are great, but top presentation apps should enable you to customize just about everything—giving you the flexibility to build exactly what you need.

Affordability. Creating compelling presentations is important, but you shouldn't have to bust your budget to make it happen. With capable free tools on the market, affordability is a top consideration.

Standalone functionality. There's no reason to use multiple tools when one can do it all, so I didn't test any apps that require and work on top of another presentation app like PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Familiar, deck-based interface. For our purposes here, I only tested software that uses slides, with the familiar deck-based editor you expect from a "presentation" tool (versus, for example, a video creation app).

Beyond that, I also looked for presentation apps that brought something unique to the table—features above and beyond what you can get for free from a legacy solution like PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Here's what my testing workflow looked like:

I went through any onboarding or guided tutorials.

I created a new deck, scanning through all available templates, noting how well-designed they were (and which were free versus paid).

I added new slides, deleted slides, edited text and images, and played around with other content types.

I changed presentation design settings, like color schemes and background images.

I reviewed and tested the sharing and collaboration options.

I tested out presenter view (when available).

After my first round of testing, I went back into the top performers to test any unique or niche features, like AI, brand settings, and interactive content. With that, these are the best presentation apps I found—each one really brings something different or radically easy to the table.

Canva, our pick for the best free presentation app

Canva pros:

Excellent free plan

Tons of amazing templates for all use cases

Feature-rich

Canva cons:

The AI tools aren't groundbreakingly useful

Canva offers one of the most robust free plans of all the presentation apps I tested. The app delays account creation until after you've created your first design, so you can get started building your presentation in seconds. Choose from an almost overwhelming number of beautiful templates (nearly all available for free), including those designed specifically for education or business use cases.

Anyone who's accidentally scrolled too far and been bumped to the next slide will appreciate Canva's editor interface, which eliminates that problem altogether with a smooth scroll that doesn't jump around. Choose from a handful of preset animations to add life to your presentations, or browse the library of audio and video files available to add. And Canva also has a number of options for sharing your presentation, including adding collaborators to your team, sharing directly to social media, and even via QR code.

Present directly from Canva, and let audience members submit their questions via Canva Live. Once you share a link to invite audience members to your presentation, they can send questions for you to answer. As the presenter, you'll see them pop up in your presenter view window, so you can keep the audience engaged and your presentation clear. Alternatively, record a presentation with a talking head bubble—you can even use an AI presenter here—to share remotely.

Canva pricing: Free plan available; paid plans start at $120/year for 1 user and include additional features like Brand Kit, premium templates and stock assets, and additional AI-powered design tools.

Beautiful.ai pros:

True AI design

No fussing around with alignment

Still allows for customization

Beautiful.ai cons:

No free plan

If you're like me, editing granular spacing issues is the absolute worst part of building a presentation. Beautiful.ai uses artificial intelligence to take a lot of the hassle and granular design requirements out of the presentation process, so you can focus on the content of a presentation without sacrificing professional design. If I needed to make presentations on a regular basis, this is the app I'd use.

Many apps have recently added AI design features, but Beautiful.ai has been doing it for years—and they've perfected the experience of AI design, ensuring the tool's reign as the most streamlined and user-friendly option for AI design.

The editor is a little different from most presentation apps, but it's still intuitive—and you'll start off with a quick two-minute tutorial. When creating a new slide, scroll through "inspiration slides" to find a layout you like; once you choose, the app will pull the layout and automatically adapt it to match the design of the rest of your presentation.

With 10 themes, several templated slides, over 40 fully-designed templates, and more than 20 different color palettes to choose from, Beautiful.ai strikes a perfect balance between automation and customization.

While Beautiful.ai doesn't offer a free plan, paid plans are reasonably priced and offer sharing and collaboration options that rival collab-focused apps like Google Slides. And speaking of Google, you can connect Beautiful.ai with Google Drive to save all your presentations there.

Note: I re-tested the generative AI feature (called DesignerBot) this year. It's great for adding individual slides to an existing presentation—automatically choosing the best layout and matching the design to the rest of the deck—but as with most other apps, it struggled to pull in relevant images.

Beautiful.ai pricing: Plans start at $12/month for unlimited slides, AI content generation, viewer analytics, and more. Upgrade to a Team plan for $40/user/month to get extra collaboration and workspace features and custom brand controls.

Prezi pros:

Doesn't restrict you to standard presentation structure

Lots of customization options

Prezi Video lets you display a presentation right over your webcam video

Prezi cons:

Steep learning curve

Struggling to squeeze information into a basic, linear presentation? Give Prezi a try. Unlike nearly all other presentation apps on the market, Prezi Present doesn't restrict the structure of your presentation to a straight line. The editor focuses on topics and subtopics and allows you to arrange them any way you want, so you can create a more conversational flow of information.

With the structural flexibility, you still get all the same customization features you expect from top presentation software, including fully-editable templates. There's a learning curve if you're unfamiliar with non-linear presentations, but templates offer a great jumping-off point, and Prezi's editor does a good job of making the process more approachable.

Plus, Prezi comes with two other apps: Prezi Design and Prezi Video. Prezi Video helps you take remote presentations to a new level. You can record a video where the presentation elements are displayed right over your webcam feed. Record and save the video to share later, or connect with your video conferencing tool of choice (including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet) to present live.

Prezi's generative AI feature works ok, but it's more useful as a wireframe. When I asked it to create a presentation about the Stanley Cup Playoffs, for example, the resulting content read a lot like a student writing a term paper in the broadest strokes possible to avoid doing any actual research.

Powtoon pros:

Timing automatically changes based on the content on the slide

Can toggle between slideshow and video

Can orient presentation as horizontal, vertical, or square

Powtoon cons:

Limited free plan

Powtoon makes it easy to create engaging videos by orienting the editor around a slide deck. Editing a Powtoon feels just like editing a presentation, but by the time you finish, you have a professional video.

You can edit your slides at any time, and when you hit play, a video plays through your deck—the feel is almost like an animated explainer video. Each slide includes the animations you choose and takes up as much time as is needed based on the content on the slide. Powtoon figures the timing automatically, and you can see in the bottom-right of the editor how much time is used on your current slide versus the total presentation. If you ever want to present as a slide deck, just toggle between Slideshow and Movie.

You'll likely need to subscribe to a paid plan to get the most out of Powtoon—like creating videos longer than three minutes, downloading them as MP4 files, and white-labeling your presentations—but doing so won't break the bank. Plus, you'll unlock tons of templates complete with animations and soundtracks.

One of my favorite Powtoon features is the ability to orient your video: you can choose horizontal orientation (like a normal presentation) or opt for vertical (for mobile) or square (for social media). When your presentation is ready, you can publish straight to YouTube, Wistia, Facebook Ads, and any number of other locations.

Pitch, our pick for the best presentation software for collaborating with your team

Pitch pros:

Google levels of collaboration

Assign slides to specific team members

Excellent generative AI feature

Pitch cons:

User interface is a little different than you're used to

Need to collaborate on presentations with your team? Pitch is a Google Slides alternative that gets the job done. As far as decks go, Pitch includes all the beautifully-designed templates, customizability, and ease of use you expect from a top-notch presentation tool. But the app really shines when you add your team.

The right-hand sidebar is all about project management and collaboration: you can set and update the status of your deck, assign entire presentations or individual slides to team members, plus comment or add notes. Save custom templates to make future presentations even easier and faster.

You can also invite collaborators from outside your company to work with you on individual decks. And if you opt for a paid plan, Pitch introduces workspace roles, shared private folders, and version history.

Pitch also offers one of the most impressive generative AI features on this list. It still struggles to pull in relevant images, but I found the AI-generated written content and design to be top-notch.

Gamma pros:

Creates fully fleshed-out presentations from a prompt

Conversational chatbot-like experience

Can still manually edit the presentation

Gamma cons:

Not as much granular customization

I tested a lot of apps claiming to use AI to up your presentation game, and Gamma's conversational AI features were head and shoulders above the crowd.

Simply give the app a topic—or upload an outline, notes, or any other document or article—approve the outline, and pick a theme. The app will take it from there and create a fully fleshed-out presentation. It's far from perfect, but Gamma produces a very useful jumping-off point. (Last year, it was by far the best, but this year, other apps are catching up.)

Here's the key: Gamma is much more geared toward the iterative, chatbot experience familiar to ChatGPT users. Click on the Edit with AI button at the top of the right-hand menu to open the chat, and you'll see suggested prompts—or you can type in your own requests for how Gamma should alter the presentation.

Once you've done all you can with prompts, simply close the chat box to manually add the finishing touches. While you do sacrifice some granular customizability in exchange for the AI features, you can still choose your visual theme, change slide layouts, format text, and add any images, videos, or even app and web content.

Mentimeter, our pick for the best presentation software for audience engagement

Mentimeter pros:

Tons of audience engagement features

Simple for participants to interact

Mentimeter cons:

Less granular customizability

Bit of a learning curve

If you need to engage with an audience during your presentation, Mentimeter makes that easy. The app is designed around interactive elements like quizzes, surveys, Q&As, sliders, and more (even a Miro whiteboard!).

Each of these is included in a number of different, professional-looking templates, so you can build a fully interactive presentation super quickly.

When it's time to present, your audience members can scan the QR code with their phone cameras or type in the URL and access code to participate. There's one code per presentation (so they won't have to do this on every slide), which gives access to each slide as you move through the presentation.

There are two main drawbacks to this one, though. First, there's a bit of a learning curve and less familiar editing interface (but I found it pretty easy to learn with some practice). The other drawback is that you can't get as granular with the visual customization as you can with many other presentation tools.

Tome, our pick for the best presentation software for generative AI

Top-tier generative AI features

Simple, customizable templates

Intuitive doc-style editor

There's definitely a learning curve

Tome is one of the new additions to this list that I'm most excited about. If you're looking for generative AI that just genuinely works , it's definitely worth a look. The editor is a bit more stripped down than most presentation apps but intuitive nonetheless—it's almost a cross between your standard deck editor and a Notion-style doc.

To generate an AI deck, click Generate with AI in the top right, and either write your own prompt or choose from the example prompts that cover a handful of common use cases, like sales enablement and company pitches. Edit or approve the suggested outline, then generate the full presentation.

From there, you can edit each slide as a doc via the right-hand menu—without limits on how much information you can include. During the presentation, you simply size down any slides that take up more than the standard amount of space. It's super simple but somehow feels revolutionary in a presentation app.

What about the old standbys?

You might notice a few major presentation players aren't on this list, including OGs Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, and Google Slides. These apps are perfectly adequate for creating basic presentations, and they're free if you have a Windows or Mac device or a Google account.

I didn't include them on the list because the presentation space has really developed in the last several years, and after testing them out, I found these behemoths haven't kept pace. If they weren't made by Microsoft/Apple/Google, I might not even be mentioning them. They're pretty basic tools, they're behind the curve when it comes to templates (both quantity and design), and they don't offer any uniquely valuable features like robust team collaboration, branding controls, video, and so on.

In any case, if you're reading this, you're probably looking for an alternative that allows you to move away from one of the big 3, and as the presentation platforms featured above show, there's a ton to gain—in terms of features, usability, and more—when you do.

What about PowerPoint and Google Slides add-ons?

While I focused my testing on tools with full feature-sets—those that can serve as your sole presentation tool—there are a ton of add-on tools you can use atop big name tools like PowerPoint and Google Slides.

When talking about PowerPoint alternatives, Prezi is one of the most popular ones. This presentation software became known for its non-linear layouts and unique take on presentations.

Unlike PowerPoint and many other alternative presentation software we’ll go through in this list, Prezi doesn’t use presentation slides. Instead, it works with a “canvas,” where the presenter can zoom in and out.

This makes Prezi presentations feel more fluid and “free-form” than your typical presentation.

One of the best features of this PowerPoint alternative is that it allows free plans and work online. However, it’s important to note that presentations created through free plans are public and can’t be saved as private , which can be a deal breaker for people working on presentations with sensitive information.

Main features :

  • Cloud and desktop app access
  • Images and templates library
  • Zoom, Google Meets, and Microsoft Team integrations for virtual presentations
  • Prezi Video puts presenters next to their graphics in real-time
  • Freemium (up to 5 projects)
  • Individual prices begin at $9/mo. (billed annually)
  • Enterprise solutions begin at $15/mo. (billed annually)

Not only that, PowerPoint presentations are easy to convert to and from Google Slides. This means that you can use the vast array of presentation templates for PowerPoint, which is a huge bonus compared to other presentation software alternatives in this list.

While it offers business plans for higher storage capacity, most users will find the free plan of 15GB is more than enough and offers all the main features for creating presentations.

Where there's a need for an app, Google seems to have it covered. Google Slides is its PowerPoint equivalent and it's a lot like Microsoft's app. Very simple to use and offering full compatible with the alternative, you can access Google Slides via your browser and easily create custom presentations with audio and your own images, all entirely for free. It also offers great live collaboration features for teamwork purposes.

The only minor downside is you need an internet connection to at least get started but the service does also work offline with presentations syncing once you're back online.

Best for Designers: Prezi

Video editing included.

Can easily make data visualizations.

Stylish user interface.

Free option is pretty basic.

No support.

Presentations viewable by all.

Prezi is a great option for designers who have a vision but aren't technically proficient at achieving it. Its simple drag and drop interface makes it a breeze to organize your presentation just how you want it. Backed up with other Prezi apps that mean you can create videos or more stylish data visualizations than simple graphs, it's ideal for industries that are more visual than others. A series of pre-made templates makes it all the more attractive.

Prezi isn't as free as it seems though. To get the full wealth of features like advanced image editing, offline access, and narration, you'll need to pay a subscription fee.

Best for Quick Results: Zoho Show

A theme for every occasion.

Quick to create something.

Intuitive interface.

Need to be online to use it.

Simple to use yet highly effective is the sweet spot for quick results, and that's certainly the case with Zoho Show. You might need to be online to use it, but it's worth the connection with an intuitive user interface that adapts to what you need to do. You can easily embed videos, tweets, and images into your presentations with some neat transition effects making things more interesting.

Collaboration tools further sweeten the deal with annotation features meaning you can work together well as a team and fast.

Best for Animations: Powtoon

Great animation tools.

Easy to use.

Can export to social media platforms.

Branding applied on free presentations.

More about animations than slideshows.

PowToon tackles PowerPoint presentations from a slightly different angle than a lot of its competitors. It's primarily great for creating full animations and videos rather than presentations that you would click through and present yourself. That lends itself perfectly to the internet which is why it's so useful that you can export your presentations to various forms of social media.

With a drag and drop template, you can create something within about 20 minutes from your browser. The free version bundles in branding logos so viewers will always know you've used PowToon to create them but that's a small price to pay for an otherwise very accessible and simple to use piece of software.

Best for Mass Branding: Renderforest

Plenty of options for expanding branding.

300MB cloud storage for free.

Unlimited exports.

Exports can be low in quality.

Content is watermarked.

RenderForest thinks of itself as more than just a PowerPoint alternative. It tackles everything you might need from creating logos to designing promo videos, music visualizations, landing pages, and websites. That's on top of its extensive animations and intro creation. That might sound intimidating but the service keeps things simple, so it won't take you long to mock something up and develop it.

Stick to the free version and there are some restrictions such as branding on your videos, lower quality logos, and so forth, but it's a solid start for an otherwise entirely free service. In particular, if you just need to concoct a quick 3-minute video for a presentation, RenderForest has you covered.

Best for Non-Designers: Visme

Plenty of templates to choose from.

Can set up five projects at once.

Charts and widgets support.

Limited cloud storage.

Visme branding on free plan.

Been asked to make a presentation and you don't know where to start? Visme is perfect for those that aren't well versed with graphics as it offers an extensive template library. The free plan limits your options a little but there are still some decent choices here. In addition, the service provides cool ways to make stats and data look exciting thanks to chart and widget support. It's all done through a simple drag and drop interface too that makes it super simple to add video and embed other content.

Just bear in mind that storage options are a little limited and everything on the free plan will contain Visme branding.

Best for Office Replacement: LibreOffice Impress

Full program rather than browser-based.

Extensive support.

Similar experience to Microsoft Office.

Requires installation.

Not quite as intuitive as alternatives.

LibreOffice is a popular free alternative to Microsoft Office, so it makes sense to use LibreOffice Impress if you want the closest experience to Microsoft's package. Unlike most of the others here, you need to install LibreOffice on your PC or Mac which means it's no good for Chromebooks or moving between different systems. However, in exchange, you get an intuitive experience that makes it simple to create slideshows, whether you're handing them out to a class or conference afterwards, or simply projecting them on screen.

Bear in mind you have to seek out templates yourself though which may be off-putting for the least technically minded user out there.

Best for Apple Users: Keynote

Simple to use.

Apple Pencil support.

Cloud based as well as app based.

App is only on Apple devices.

Keynote is Apple's direct competitor to Microsoft PowerPoint and it's a great alternative, especially if you're a Mac user. With app support for iOS and Mac, it takes seconds to get started. Alternatively, PC users can use Keynote via the iCloud website and easily work across multiple devices.

One of the best features is the ability to use the Apple Pencil on an iPad to create diagrams or illustrations making it great for skilled artists. As well as that, Apple provides plenty of convenient templates for personal and professional projects.

How did we pick the top presentation software alternatives to PowerPoint?

Diverse feature set:.

The presentation landscape has diversified, with tools now offering a variety of features, from animation to interactivity. We prioritized software that presented a comprehensive suite of innovative features, allowing users to craft presentations that stand out.

User-Friendly Interface:

The best tools should enhance creativity, not hinder it. We evaluated software based on user-friendliness, ensuring that even those new to presentation design could easily navigate and utilize its features.

Client Showcase:

A software’s reputation often lies in its users’ creations. We critically examined user showcases, searching for software that enabled users to produce exceptional, engaging presentations beyond the standard slide format.

Cost-Effectiveness:

While many professionals and startups seek high-quality tools, budget constraints are real. We ensure our selections offer value for money, delivering outstanding functionality at prices that cater to a range of budgets.

How to choose the right presentation software alternative to PowerPoint for you?

Clarify your needs:.

Understand the nature of your presentations. Are they for educational purposes, corporate pitches social media presentations, or interactive webinars? Recognizing your specific needs will help you select software with features tailored to your requirements.

Identify Your Audience:

The demographics and preferences of your audience can greatly influence your software choice. Tools that engage millennials might differ from those that resonate with a more mature audience. Understanding your audience ensures you can create presentations that are both relevant and engaging.

Seek Recommendations:

Leverage your network. Ask colleagues, peers, or industry connections about the software they use and why. Personal recommendations can provide insights into ease of use, effectiveness, and any potential challenges they’ve encountered.

Take Advantage of Trials:

Most software providers offer free trials or limited versions. Before committing, try out a free version of a few options to get a feel for their interfaces, features, and any limitations they might have.

Check Compatibility:

Consider where and how your presentation will be viewed. Ensure your chosen software is compatible with various devices and operating systems, especially if presenting to a remote or diverse audience.

Understand Pricing Structures:

While some tools offer one-time purchase options, others may have monthly or yearly subscriptions. Additionally, consider any add-ons or premium features you might need. It’s essential to find a tool that offers the features you need within your budget while also providing good value for the cost.

How much does it cost to invest in top presentation software alternatives to PowerPoint?

Venturing into the world of presentations, startups, and professionals often grapple with budget considerations. Leading presentation software alternatives in the US or EU can range between $10 to $50 per month for individual licenses, reflecting their advanced features and dynamic designs. However, more cost-effective alternatives are available from various global sources, although these might occasionally compromise on certain advanced functionalities. Users must balance their financial capacities with desired features when choosing a presentation program.

When is the right time to transition to a new presentation software?

For companies, startups, and professionals alike, discerning the right moment to switch or adopt a new presentation platform is paramount. The ideal time often arises when the presenter feels limited by their current tool, needing more advanced features or a fresher design palette. However, just feeling the need isn’t sufficient; it’s also essential to ensure that transitioning won’t disrupt ongoing projects or presentations. Most professionals consider making a shift during a lull in their presentation schedule or when starting a fresh project. Such periods allow them ample time to acquaint themselves with new features and design nuances. Once a presenter recognizes the need for elevated aesthetics and functionality and has the time to adapt, transitioning to one of the best presentation software alternatives can significantly enhance their storytelling prowess.

Interactive presentation tools vs. in-house development

Every forward-thinking company or individual presenter grapples with the choice: invest in the best presentation software or build an in-house presentation app. On the surface, a monthly subscription of $10 to $50 for a leading presentation software might appear more than reasonable. Yet, this fee unlocks a world of features, from seamless animations to intuitive design interfaces, crafted by experts with years dedicated to perfecting the user experience. Conversely, if you were to develop a proprietary in-house presentation app, the costs of hiring experienced developers, designers, and testers would likely far exceed those monthly fees, without the guarantee of achieving similar sophisticated features or reliability.

Furthermore, established interactive presentation tools benefit from continuous feedback from a vast user base. This means their features and functionalities are regularly updated and refined, ensuring you’re always working with cutting-edge tools. An in-house team might not have this breadth of exposure, potentially leading to a more narrow toolset.

Most common presentation tools

  • PowerPoint Presentations: A staple in the presentation arena, PowerPoint offers a comprehensive suite of slide design and animation tools. Companies often turn to this Microsoft product for its familiarity and robust features, ensuring their ideas are conveyed clearly and effectively.
  • Interactive Presentations: With the evolving need for dynamic and engaging content, interactive presentations have surged in popularity. Tools that offer features like clickable elements, embedded videos, and real-time audience polls can significantly enhance audience engagement and retention.
  • Slide Design Templates: Companies looking for consistency and brand alignment often invest in slide design templates. These pre-designed layouts ensure every presentation adheres to the branding, enhancing recognition and professionalism.
  • Webinar Platforms: As remote collaboration becomes more prevalent, companies are leveraging webinar platforms. These tools allow for live PowerPoint presentations, interactive Q&A sessions, and real-time audience engagement, ensuring a more immersive presentation experience.

How do you select the best presentation software alternative to PowerPoint?

  • Competitor Usage: Explore the presentation tools your competitors prefer. Understand their choices to gauge which platforms might give you a competitive edge.
  • Industry Trends: Survey the broader presentation landscape, pinpointing emerging trends and software functionalities that resonate with contemporary audiences.
  • Integration Capabilities: Determine which software integrates seamlessly with other tools you use, ensuring a streamlined workflow and enhancing efficiency.
  • Audience Engagement Features: Assess how different software options facilitate audience interaction. Consider features like real-time polling, Q&A modules, and interactive animations to ensure your presentations captivate and engage.

6 things to discuss with a presentation software provider before making the switch

1. preferred communication channels:.

In our connected era, there’s a plethora of ways to stay in touch, ranging from traditional emails to more advanced collaborative platforms. Before committing to a presentation app, ascertain the primary mode of communication for support or queries. Is it through direct emails, platforms like Discord, or a ticketing system within the software itself? A consistent mode of interaction ensures prompt support, clarity, and efficient problem resolution. Moreover, have contingencies in place for pressing issues or if there are any technological disruptions.

2. Primary Point of Contact:

It’s vital to know who you’ll be communicating with when you have queries or need assistance. Will it be a dedicated customer success manager, a support team, or a community forum? Identifying the primary source of help ensures swift solutions and a deeper understanding of how to harness the best presentation software’s full potential. Your point of contact should be knowledgeable, reachable, and have an in-depth comprehension of the software’s functionalities.

3. Frequency of Software Updates:

Regular updates are crucial for software applications to stay relevant and bug-free. Clarify how often the software receives updates—are they monthly, quarterly, or based on user feedback? Frequent updates reflect the provider’s commitment to offering the latest presentation templates, tools, and features. It’s also a chance to discuss the inclusion of new features or any bugs that might affect your future presentations.

4. Transparency in Pricing Structure:

While you may have a grasp of the basic costs, probe deeper into any additional or hidden fees. Are there extra charges for premium presentation templates, additional user licenses, or specific integrations? Being fully aware of the cost structure ensures there are no unwelcome financial surprises later on. A transparent financial discussion fosters trust and sets the stage for a seamless partnership.

5. Metrics for Presentation Success:

It’s essential to understand the metrics the software provides to gauge the effectiveness of your presentations. Discuss available analytics: does the software offer insights into slide engagement, viewer retention, or interactive element usage? Having a shared perspective on what metrics are essential ensures your presentations can be optimized for maximum impact.

6. Software’s Scalability and Adaptability:

As your presentation needs evolve, the software should be able to keep pace. Address how the software adapts to changing trends in the presentation world. Can it handle more extensive audiences, integrate with newer platforms, or offer advanced interactive features down the line? Ensuring the software is future-proof and can scale with your requirements guarantees a lasting and fruitful relationship.

Final Thoughts on Presentation Software.

Think of presentation software as the visual storyteller of today’s digital age. It’s the nexus between the traditional lecture methods of yesteryear and the interactive engagement of modern times.

A presentation tool serves as a digital canvas, allowing ideas and information to come alive in a visually captivating manner. Whether you’re a solo entrepreneur or a multinational enterprise, this software empowers your audience members and narratives with clarity and dynamism. Just as a canvas transforms mere colors into art, presentation software elevates simple data into compelling visuals and stories. In a world dominated by screens and short attention spans, the significance of a versatile, intuitive, and captivating presentation platform is paramount.

presentation software except powerpoint

It’s 2023, and I still meet people who can only name one presentation slideshow tool. Guess which one! Yup, the almighty Microsoft Office PowerPoint. While that isn’t a problem per se (PowerPoint has earned its reputation), it also means people may not be using the tools they need for their specific situations.

So, in this article, I’ve tested and created a list of the best PowerPoint alternatives and presentation tools of 2023.

I’ll emphasize the following:

  • Pricing – Subscription or one-time fee? Free as in free beer, or free with ads/watermark?
  • Ownership of presentation media – Can you save your presentations offline, or are they stored in the cloud?
  • Presentation portability – Are your presentations created in a proprietary closed format, and can they be exported to standard file formats like PPTX, PDF, etc.?
  • The provider’s track record – Has the provider been around for a long time, and does it have a reputation for treating their customers well?
  • Features – Do the tools stand out as rich in useful features for presentation authors?
  • Supported operating systems – Is the presentation software available on several platforms? If not, do they provide a compatible presentation viewer on other platforms?

Ready? Let’s dive in!

The Easiest PowerPoint Alternative #1: Google Slides

presentation software except powerpoint

Google Slides is very similar to PowerPoint, except it’s all in your browser . Unlike Office 365, Google Drive is free as long as you have a Gmail/Google Workspace account.

If you’re fine with your presentations being stored on Google’s servers (and in your Drive account, where you can make files available online), Google Slides is a good alternative to PowerPoint. However, you can always download and export your presentations as PDFs, PPTX files, or images.

No software downloads means you can access and edit your slides from any device with an internet connection.

Another reason to consider Google Slides is the real-time collaboration feature and the integration in the Workspace ecosystem. Again, think O365 – but Google’s. If your whole team is already using Google Workspace, it makes sense to use Google Slides, too.

It’s not too shabby when it comes to features , either:

  • Templates, slide transitions, and animations
  • Media integration to insert images, video, and audio into presentations
  • Commenting and real-time collaboration
  • Embeddable presentations
  • Q&A and polls
  • Export presentations as PDFs, PPTX, images, etc.
  • Access presentations offline with the offline editing feature enabled in Google Drive

Alternative #2: Apple Keynote for Mac Fans

keynote presentation tool

Some folks are die-hard Windows users; others prefer Mac. If you’re in the latter group, you might switch to Apple Keynote as your go-to presentation tool. And guess what? No fees. If you’ve got an Apple device, Keynote is 100% free .

Storing your presentations? Keynote syncs through iCloud , so your creations remain within your Apple ecosystem. The offline editing feature ensures you’re not bound by Wi-Fi. You’ll also be able to export your presentations as PPTX, PDF, movie, animated gifs, images, HTML, and other formats.

(Unfortunately, glitches can pop up when exporting, so double-check before you present.)

The features are nothing to scoff at, either:

  • Live collaboration
  • Control the presentation from an iOS device using Keynote Remote
  • Presenter view
  • Templates, effects, animations, graphic assets + Apple Pencil
  • Multimedia: live video feeds, and YouTube and Vimeo videos
  • Support for OS X
  • Export to PPT (possible glitches), PDFs, and more

Alternative #3: LibreOffice Impress for the Budget-Conscious Presenter

presentation software except powerpoint

While LibreOffice Impress is not as sleek as some other options, it’s a robust choice if you seek functionality without breaking the bank. Since it’s an open-source tool, LibreOffice is free .

Another pro is that if you’ve danced with other office suites, Impress’s interface will feel like an old friend. It offers a layout very similar to Microsoft PowerPoint’s. Unfortunately, the interface lacks the sleek polish of some commercial alternatives.

Its cloud integration is clunky, too, so you might need to jump through a few hoops to get your presentation online. Otherwise, it will be stored on your PC.

Of course, the good thing is that you can export your presentations as a PowerPoint file, PDF, or even in HTML format. Plus, LibreOffice Impress plays well with all operating systems : Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Sounds good so far? Check out the features, and tick off the ones you’d like in a PowerPoint alternative:

  • Media integration for images and videos
  • Export to various formats, including PowerPoint and PDF
  • Cross-platform compatibility (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • A wide array of formatting and design options
  • Integration with other LibreOffice tools

A Note on SlideDog, the Most Powerful Addition to Your Presentation Toolkit

presentation software except powerpoint

Let me jump in real quick to say that if you’re looking at PowerPoint alternatives, consider the reason you’re trying to find them. Is it just the availability online and a few extra features, or is it the fact that your presentations need more power ?

SlideDog allows you to combine PowerPoints, Prezis, PDFs, live web pages, and many more elements into one easy-to-create playlist. You don’t have to switch between different apps during your presentation just to maintain your audience’s attention.

As soon as the playlist is loaded, your content will play back as if it’s just one seamless file.

Why Should You Try SlideDog?

SlideDog features include:

  • Real multimedia support: Combine PowerPoints, Word and Excel files, videos and YouTube videos, live websites, and much, much more in one seamless playlist.
  • Live sharing: Send your participants a link to your online channel, and they’ll be in with a click.
  • Interact with your audience: Engage your participants with polls, Q&A, and audience chat features.
  • Remote control: Control your presentation from any web-enabled device and maintain full control via the SlideDog Remote app.
  • Digital signage support
  • Store your files locally or in your online storage (Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive)

SlideDog comes with a free version to test it. The paid options start from $19/month for 2 seats, free upgrades, and the complete feature set.

PowerPoint Alternative #4: Prezi for Visually Engaging Presentations

prezi presentation tool

With Prezi , you’re not just walking down linear roads but soaring through dynamic skies. Prezi focuses on interaction and engagement with its zoomable presentations and interactive infographics and charts, which makes it a great PowerPoint alternative for situations where attention is what makes or breaks your presentation.

The side-by-side display of your presentation while you narrate through video is a really nice touch, too!

Prezi is cloud-based , making it accessible from anywhere with an internet connection. However, if you need to access or present your content offline, you’ll need to upgrade to one of the higher-priced plans.

You can export your Prezi presentation as a PEZ (Prezi) file, PDF, and a few others, such as an .EXE file that you can load into a SlideDog playlist . Unfortunately, you can’t directly export to PowerPoint, and the exact file formats you’ll be able to export greatly vary depending on your plan.

Finally, Prezi isn’t free. The plans start from $5/month and increase depending on the features you’d like to get.

Are the features worth it? Let’s take a look:

  • Zoomable, interactive presentations
  • Display your presentation alongside your video
  • Interactive infographics
  • Web-based app
  • No direct way to export to PPT
  • Plans start from $5/month

Ultimately, Prezi is worth it if you’re a pro presenter, but if you’re not – well, you might not always want to jump through the hoops of their pricing plans.

Alternative #5: FlowVella for Digital Signage

presentation software except powerpoint

When talking to presentation makers, I typically recommend FlowVella when they need digital signage. The functionality is great – but the presentations look good, too. The navigation bar is a neat trick, too, as it can make your presentations more engaging.

(Yep, when you’re in the presentation world, differentiating is the name of the game. If it looks like something your audience has already seen, you’ve already lost them. Familiarity is good – but only up to a point.)

Since you might need to get out in the field (especially if you’re a real estate agent), you can present without WiFi. If that’s easier, you can also export your FlowVella presentations to PDF, PowerPoint, and other formats.

FlowVella also plays well with Windows, Mac OS, and mobile devices . There’s no truly free option, but the paid plans start from $10/month (or $60/year).

Key FlowVella features include:

  • Multimedia presentations – PDFs, navigation bars, videos, and more
  • Offline and online access
  • Export to PDF, PPTX, etc.
  • Support for Windows, Mac OS, and mobile
  • Pricing starts from $10/month

Alternative #6: Zoho Show

presentation software except powerpoint

If you primarily need a PowerPoint alternative for business presentations, Zoho Show is a good option. The strength of Zoho Show lies in its ability to strike a balance between functionality and aesthetics. The platform doesn’t just get the job done; it does so with finesse. Think Google Slides, but with a few extra shiny objects – all 100% free .

My favorite part is the navigation feature. Similar to FlowVella, Zoho Show offers a way for the audience to interact with your presentations, which is a good option when you’re sending them as marketing or sales collateral.

Another standout aspect is Zoho Show’s adaptability. The presentation tool allows you to present without the need for a continuous internet connection. And if you need to share your work in various formats, Zoho Show lets you export your presentations to multiple formats including PDF and PowerPoint, ensuring compatibility.

Finally, Zoho Show’s compatibility isn’t limited to just one operating system. It seamlessly integrates with Windows, Mac OS, and mobile devices, and you can use it as a web-based app.

You might like the following features :

  • Templates and design tools
  • Interactive navigation options
  • Offline presentation capability
  • Export to various formats
  • Windows, Mac, and mobile device-compatible
  • ZohoShow is free

Alternative #7: And Now for Something Completely Different with Mentimeter

presentation software except powerpoint

When the goal is to transform a run-of-the-mill presentation into an interactive and engaging experience, Mentimeter emerges as a great PowerPoint alternative. From live polls that gauge instant feedback to dynamic quizzes that challenge your audience’s knowledge, Mentimeter offers a plethora of tools to stimulate interaction .

The interactive setup looks like a great PowerPoint alternative for educators, but I can assure you I’ve seen more than a few HR presentations where the audience kept their eyes peeled just because the data was visualized dynamically.

When it comes to access, you’ll need an internet connection to run your Mentimeter presentation. Plus, it won’t be easy to export it as anything other than a PDF or a set of images , which can put a dent in your grandiose presentation plans.

Still, it’s a web-based app , so you can use it regardless of your operating system.

Finally, let’s talk money. Mentimeter has a free plan for up to 50 monthly audience participants. However, if you want access to audience analytics and other snazzier features, you’ll need to consider the paid plans , which start from €11,99/month.

Speaking of features specifically, Mentimeter offers:

  • Real-time interactivity with Q&A, polls, and quizzes
  • Interactive slides
  • Cloud-based
  • Free plan (paid options from €11,99/month)

PowerPoint Alternative #8: Ludus for the Design-Savvy Presenters

ludus presentation software demo

When I imagine graphic design presentations, I imagine that the designers are using Ludus as their PowerPoint alternative. Going beyond the ordinary, Ludus redefines the concept of presentations, transforming them into immersive visual journeys. You get a lot more control than you would with PowerPoint, including the ability to create dynamic presentations, use blending modes, manage fonts, and more.

Plus, you can collaborate with your team in a very Figma-like way.

Now, Ludus looks great – and that’s its main selling point. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to present offline unless you export to HTML. However, you can export to PDF and images, too.

Since it’s web-based, you can use Ludus regardless of your OS, but it doesn’t come for free. The plans start from $14,99 /person/month. That’s why, personally, I only see it used in graphic design settings where the visuals are the money-makers through and through. If you only need business presentations that engage your audience, you’ll find much more affordable PowerPoint alternatives in this list.

The features sure are fancy, though:

  • Creative design features and animations
  • Multimedia integration, including live web pages
  • Live collaboration, Figma-style
  • Export to HTML, PDF, or images
  • Plans start from $14,99/month/user

Which PowerPoint Alternative Will You Choose?

That depends on you! Mainly, I recommend looking at your presenting style, needs today (and tomorrow), and pricing. Ideally, you’ll find a tool that fully supports you at a price point you can stomach.

However, make sure you try before you buy! That’s why I made sure we offer a free version for SlideDog.

Give different tools a whirl and find the right fit!

Perfect slideshows for speeches, talks, and presentations

  • How we test

We list the best presentation software, to make it simple and easy to make and manage slideshow presentations to display to an audience.

Presentation software runs at the heart of business sales, management, and development, so it's important to ensure you have the best presentation software for your needs. This is especially when looking to share ideas, concepts, and workflows, and the ability to present these in a simple and understandable way is essential.

However, while presentation software has been traditionally limited to text and images, it has widened its ability to work with different media such as video and audio.

Therefore it's important for the best presentation software to not simply be easy and simple to use, but also be able to support additional media so that presentations can be more engaging, lively, and ultimately serve their purpose in educating and updating their intended audience.

Below we've listed the best presentation software currently on the market.

We've also listed the best free presentation software .

The best office software in the world is: Microsoft 365

The best office software in the world is: Microsoft 365 There are many different office software suites out there, but Microsoft Office remains the original and best, offering an unsurpassed range of features and functionality that rivals just can't match.

Even better, Microsoft 365 - previously branded as Office 365 - is a cloud-based solution which means you can use it on any computer, mobile device, or smartphone, without having to worry about compatibility. All your files are saved in the cloud and synced between devices, so you can begin work on a document at home or in the office, then continue working on it on the go.

You can sign up to Microsoft 365 here .

Best presentation software overall

1. PowerPoint

Our expert review:

Reasons to buy

For most people, Microsoft 's PowerPoint remains the original and best of all the presentation software platforms out there. While other companies have managed to catch up and offer rival products worthy of consideration, the fact is that PowerPoint's familiar interface and ubiquitous availability means it remains a favorite for the majority of people.

On the one hand, it's long been a staple of the hugely popular Microsoft Office suite, meaning that for most users this is going to be the first - and last - presentation software they are going to need to use.

Additionally, Microsoft has made PowerPoint, along with their other office products, available as free apps (with limited functionality) on both iOS and Android for mobile use, meaning it's even harder to avoid them. And this is before we even consider the inclusion of PowerPoint in Microsoft's cloud-based Microsoft 365.

It does everything necessary that you'd expect of presentation software, allowing you to add text and media to a series of slides, to accompany a talk and other presentations. There are easy-to-use templates included to help spice things up a little, but even a general user with little experience of it is likely to find themselves able to use PowerPoint without much trouble at all.

Overall, it's hard to go wrong with PowerPoint, and although Microsoft 365 has a nominal cost, the apps are free to use even if they do have more limited functionality.

Reasons to avoid.

It’s all too easy to end up creating a presentation that’s unappealing, and the last thing you want to do is make the audience fall asleep. SlideDog lets you combine almost any type of media to create a rich presentation that’s sure to keep the viewers’ peepers open, avoiding the ‘cookie cutter’ look that makes presentations seem dull.

Marketed as a web-based multimedia presentation tool, it gives you the ability to combine PowerPoint presentations, graphics, PDF files, Prezi presentations, web pages, pictures, videos, and movie clips. You can drag these into custom playlists and display them to your audience with ease.

You’re able to remotely control your presentations and playlists from your smartphone, the web, or a secondary computer, and there’s also the option to share slides in real-time. Audience members can even view your slide from their own devices by clicking a link. That’s a handy feature if you’re looking to create an immersive presentation experience.

SlideDog is probably the cheapest of the presentation software featured, with a free account that will cover the essential features. However, for live sharing and premium support, you need to upgrade.

Best unique presentation software

Prezi website screenshot

Prezi is one of the more unique presentation tools. Instead of presenting your graphics and text in a slide-to-slide format, you can create highly visual and interactive presentation canvases with the goal of “emphasizing the relationship between the ideas”.

Presentations can also be tailored to the specific audience, as this is a flexible platform that’s capable of skipping ahead, or veering off into a side topic, without having to flip through all the slides to get to a particular bit.

For business users, there are a variety of handy tools available. By downloading Prezi , you can build and edit presentations with your colleagues in real-time, which is perfect for companies with teams based around the globe.

When you have created a presentation you’re happy with, you can present it live (in HD) and send a direct link to viewers. There are some analysis tools here, too – you can see who’s accessed your presentation, which parts of it, and for how long. The app is available for Mac and Windows devices.

Best presentation software for branding

CustomShow website screenshot

4. CustomShow

Branding says a lot about a business, and it’s something firms need to get right from day one – from a good logo to a suitable font. CustomShow is business presentation software that puts all these elements of branding first.

Using the system, you can design and present customized, branded presentations that reflect your company and the products you offer, featuring the aforementioned logo and custom fonts. As well as this, you get a slide library and analytics to ensure your presentations are a success.

What’s more, you can import presentations into the software, and use it to tweak them further. There’s also integration with SalesForce , and because the platform is cloud-based, you can access your presentations on computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Considering the focus on branding, this offering could be good for marketing and sales teams, and it's used by major companies such as HBO and CBS Interactive.

Best presentation software for marketing

ClearSlide website screenshot

5. ClearSlide

Just like CustomShow, ClearSlide has a niche focus for companies. The platform is targeted at firms looking to generate successful marketing campaigns, pushing sales via presentations (and more), not least through a range of analytics and metrics to work for sales and marketing.

With the product, you can upload a range of files, including PowerPoint, Keynote, PDF, and Excel. ClearSlide is integrated with other platforms, including Google Drive, Dropbox, and Salesforce.

This system is pretty complex and may offer too many irrelevant features for some businesses, but you can create customized content that reflects your company and the message you’re trying to get out to customers. There are also some good metrics and analysis features, and you can sign up for a free trial before making any decisions.

The real strength of ClearSlide comes from its focus on sales and marketing data, not least being able to track user engagement alongside other metrics.

Best presentation software for themes

Haiku Deck website screenshot

6. Haiku Deck

Any presentation app will allow you to personalize your slides to at least some extent, but Haiku Deck goes one step further than the competition. It comes with a wide range of themes suited to different needs, and you also get access to 40 million free images from the Creative Commons collection.

When it comes to creating a presentation, you have the option to do so on the web, which means your presentation is accessible across a range of mobile devices as well as desktops. Regardless of the device used, you’re able to select from a variety of different fonts, layouts, and filters to make the perfect presentation.

The great thing about these various customization options is that they’re categorized into different industries and use cases. For instance, you’ll find themes for teaching, cooking, real estate, and startups. Most of the features require you to be online, but hopefully, you’ll have a sturdy net connection wherever you go.

Other presentation software to consider

Google Slides  is part of the Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) office platform intended as an online alternative to Microsoft Office. It may seem a little limited by comparison to PowerPoint, but as it's browser-based that means cross-platform compatibility. Additionally, it allows for collaborative work, and Google Slides really works well here. On top of the fact that it integrates with the rest of the Google Workspace apps, not least Google Drive, and you have a contender.

Zoho Show  is another of the many, many tools and apps that Zoho has made available for business use. It also operates in the cloud so it's accessible to any device with a browser, and it also allows for collaborative work. You can also easily share the link for users to download, or provide a live presentation online. The updated version has a simpler and easier to use interface and comes with a free version and a paid-for one with expanded features.

Evernote  is normally thought of as just note-taking software, but it does provide the option to create a presentation you can share online or with an audience. In that regard, it's a little more limited than the other options in not being dedicated presentation software. However, as an easy and handy way to pull together a presentation quickly, it could serve as a backup or last-minute option, especially if Evernote is already being commonly used by you.

LibreOffice Impress  is part of the open-source suite offered as a free alternative to Microsoft Office, and comes with a powerful array of tools and editing options for your presentation, not least working with 3D images. It's supported by a large community, so it's easy to find an array of additional templates. If there is a limitation it's that it's software you download and install rather than web-based, but any presentations created should be easily portable to the web if needed.

Adobe Spark  does things a bit differently, as rather than just use images it's geared toward video as well. This makes for potentially more powerful multimedia presentations, especially as Adobe also has a big selection of photos and images available for its users. There is a free tier for core features but requires a subscription for custom branding, personalized themes, and support.

Slides  comes with a lot of features in an easy-to-use interface, and involves setting up presentations using drag and drop into an existing grid. It's also internet-based so there's no software to download, and it only requires a browser to use and access.

Presentation software FAQs

Which presentation software is best for you.

When deciding which presentation software to download and use, first consider what your actual needs are, as sometimes free platforms may only provide basic options, so if you need to use advanced tools you may find a paid platform is much more worthwhile. Additionally, free and budget software options can sometimes prove limited when it comes to the variety of tools available, while higher-end software can really cater for every need, so do ensure you have a good idea of which features you think you may require for your presentation needs.

How we tested the best presentation software

To test for the best presentation software we first set up an account with the relevant software platform, whether as a download or as an online service. We then tested the service to see how the software could be used for different purposes and in different situations. The aim was to push each software platform to see how useful its basic tools were and also how easy it was to get to grips with any more advanced tools.

8 Alternatives to Microsoft PowerPoint You Need to Try

Megan Glosson

Microsoft PowerPoint carved out a niche for itself in the sphere of presentation. However, many people now see PowerPoint as outdated and expensive, especially given that the platform hasn’t really evolved with the times. As more people look for ways to engage audiences with narrative storytelling over boring slide presentations, they seek alternatives to PowerPoint that let them have greater control over their presentations. After all, shouldn’t we all be looking for cost-effective solutions as we choose value over dogma? Then look no further than these great alternatives to Microsoft PowerPoint.

1. Google Slides

3. libreoffice impress, 5. slidebean, 7. beautiful.ai, 8. zoho show, frequently asked questions.

Google Slides helps you tell stories that matter while enabling synchronization. It’s an incredible PowerPoint alternative that costs absolutely nothing to use.

Powerpoint Alternatives Google Slides Basic View

You can create easy-to-use visual presentations on Google Slides with its simple user interface. The PowerPoint-like design makes it a breezy transition for experienced PowerPoint users, but it’s also easy to navigate through the menus if you are new to making presentations.

With Google Slides, you have complete control over the page size and formatting. Although the text options are limited, there are many other standout design features included. You can choose from the preformatted slide themes or import your own backgrounds, then add slide transitions or object animations to enhance your presentation.

Powerpoint Alternatives Google Slides Format Options

You’re free to work from anywhere, as Google syncs all of your work to Google Drive, and you can gain access to your presentations from any device. Easily share presentations on the Web through the custom link or via email. You can even set the presentation up to allow multiple users editing privileges that sync in real time, which means you never have to worry about which version is the most recent.

The best part? Google Slides is a completely free-to-use app – all you need is a Google account .

If you want something a little less traditional than PowerPoint, Prezi is a great option. Many claim Prezi is more engaging and persuasive.

Powerpoint Alternatives Prezi Options View

Prezi takes a completely different approach to digital presentations. For instance, you can build a complete presentation structure on a single canvas, zooming in and out as you emphasize and de-emphasize facts. This way, you are controlling and guiding what your audience sees.

Unlike most other presentation software tools, Prezi gives you the option to make video presentations, interactive reports, infographics, and more.

Powerpoint Alternatives Prezi Design Options

Prezi is cloud-based presentation software, so you can access your presentations across many platforms. You can try Prezi for free, but it is extremely limited. For instance, you won’t be able to download your work or save it as a PDF. You can, however, create a presentation from scratch and use your laptop to quickly present it to your team. If you need more, you’ll have to upgrade. Prezi has three different pricing tiers for individuals: Standard ($5/mo), Plus ($15/mo), and Premium ($59/mo).

LibreOffice Impress is a part of the LibreOffice suite, an open-source alternative to Microsoft Office. When considering alternatives to PowerPoint, LibreOffice Impress is right up there with Google Slides, as it lets you open and save files in PowerPoint format or convert them to the OpenOffice extension.

Powerpoint Alternatives Libreoffice Design

On the surface, LibreOffice looks very similar to PowerPoint. It offers many of the same tools, and even the menu options and ribbon appear very similar to the well-known Microsoft product.

Powerpoint Alternatives Libreoffice Transitions

Format text, add images, set slide transitions and more with LibreOffice. You can also select from different aspect ratios, which can be important when using a different projector. Best of all, LibreOffice Impress is free to use!

Keynote , Apple’s alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint, offers a sleek, sophisticated approach to presentation design. Keynote users agree that it’s intuitive and easy to use.

Powerpoint Alternatives Keynote Opening

You can create beautiful presentations in Keynote without wasting time surfing for unique templates. This presentation tool has many eye-popping templates to choose from and offers most of the same features as PowerPoint, making it a great alternative.

Unlike PowerPoint, though, Keynote provides much more control over the text, images, and objects you insert into your presentations. Furthermore, you can save completed presentations in a variety of formats or export the files into images or a PDF.

Powerpoint Alternatives Keynote Design

The only drawback to Keynote is its exclusivity, as it’s only available on Apple devices. However, it is native to macOS, meaning it is free for Mac users who need presentation software.

If you only have a little time on your hands to design eye-popping PowerPoint slides, then Slidebean will be a good fit for you!

Powerpoint Alternatives Sidebeam Design View

With Slidebean, you only input content, while the software helps you design and format your content. You can also choose from hundreds of preformatted templates or start your own presentation from scratch.

Once in the design platform, everything is fairly straightforward. After the software preformats slides for you, click the text boxes to input your data. After you’ve typed everything in, click the AI tool to have it format everything for you or move objects manually.

Powerpoint Alternatives Sidebean Preview Testing

Sidebean does offer a free, basic version of their Web-based presentation tool. However, if you decide to upgrade to use some of the more advanced features, it will cost $299/year for the all-access version.

If you design social media graphics , you may have already heard of Canva , a highly recommended app in terms of entry-level graphic design. Even e-learning platforms like Skillshare offer classes that utilize Canva for social media marketing. However, this Web-based design suite isn’t just for creating social media posts – it can also be used to create presentations.

Powerpoint Alternatives Canva Home Page View

Within the “Presentation” section of Canva, you have the option to select different types of presentations, including widescreen (16:9), fullscreen (4:3), mobile-friendly, or game-like presentations. Then choose from the hundreds of predesigned templates or create your own presentation from scratch.

As far as the interface goes, the presentation creator works similarly to the rest of the Canva platform. You can add images or graphics, format text, and even insert audio or video. Furthermore, you can add animations, slide transitions, and even set the presentation to run automatically with timed slides.

Powerpoint Alternatives Canva Design View

Since Canva is Web-based, you can present your creations from anywhere as long as there’s an Internet connection. Unfortunately, Canva does not let you download your presentations as PowerPoint files – only image files or PDFs.

Canva does offer a free version with some limitations. If you decide you need more than that, upgrade to the Pro plan for $12.99/month.

Like Slidebean, Beautiful.ai is an alternative to PowerPoint that is designed to make your presentation design process take minutes, not hours.

Powerpoint Alternatives Beautifulai Starting

Unlike most presentation programs, Beautiful.ai is a tool that streamlines your design process. Set all of the formatting upfront, then put in your text while the tool helps you determine the best design. It adjusts your design in real time as you add elements to each slide so that you don’t have to ever worry about making everything fit.

Of course, Beautiful.ai’s primary goal is to help you create outstanding, appealing presentations that capture your target audience’s attention. Unfortunately, all of this comes at a premium. Beautiful.ai doesn’t offer anything more than a 14-day free trial. After that, pricing starts at $12/month (billed annually).

These 7 Underrated iOS 18 Features Are Worth Getting Excited About

5 reasons microsoft loop is underrated for collaboration, these 6 apps help me turn procrastination into productivity.

Microsoft PowerPoint has been around for a long while and so far it has served users well. However, because it's a paid program, not everyone can afford it.

Thankfully, there are many options available for users who want the functionality of Microsoft PowerPoint in a free-to-use package. In fact, some of them don't even require any downloads and are completely web-based.

1. Google Slides

Google Slides editing screen

By far the most popular PowerPoint alternative out there, Google Slides shines when it comes to collaboration. Multiple people can work simultaneously on a presentation and add new slides.

This is further strengthened by its availability. Google Slides works on your web browser and has apps for both iOS and Android.

Additionally, Google Slides keeps a record of all the changes users have made to a presentation, and you can easily restore your slideshow to a previous version. While anyone with a Gmail account can use Google Slides, G Suite users get added data protection.

Compared to PowerPoint, the number of templates, animation forms, and fonts is somewhat lacking. However, businesses tend to overlook these shortcomings on a day-to-day basis.

Canva Presentation maker.

While Canva is primarily known as a photo editor and design tool, it is also a competent MS PowerPoint alternative.

One of Canva's main strengths is its ease of use. There are many beginner tutorial videos on the website if users do not understand something. Complete beginners can easily navigate through the minimalistic interface.

With the free version of Canva, you get access to over 8000+ presentation templates that exponentially speed up your workflow. Additionally, Canva still remains one of the easiest services to create infographics and charts in.

The only limiting thing with Canva is that it offers a basic set of tools and transitions at users' disposal. It's apparent that the company places more focus on photo editing and design aspect than anything else.

Prezi presentation editing screen.

The Prezi presentation format is unique in the way that it lets you view slides. Instead of addressing multiple elements at once, Prezi gives viewers a single canvas that allows them to zoom in on different presentation parts. This provides a much more immersive experience.

Similar to Google Slides, Prezi supports the real-time collaboration of up to 10 users. Users can also add comments to indicate changes or report missing information. Prezi works on any modern web browser, and there are Android and iOS apps available as well.

Related: Powerful Google Chrome PDF Extensions and Apps

The Prezi software also has an analytics feature that helps users optimize their presentation by showing them which slides were the most viewed as well as which ones were skipped.

Even though the basic version of Prezi is free to use, it doesn't allow users to control the privacy of their presentation, which could be a dealbreaker for many. Additionally, due to the way Prezi works, there is a steep learning curve associated with it.

4. WPS Office Free

WPS Office Web Presentation maker

WPS Office is the closest alternative to PowerPoint when it comes to functionality and user interface. Plus, unlike the other web-based services on this list, you don't always need an active internet connection to use it.

With its complete support for PowerPoint files, users can edit existing PowerPoint documents with ease in WPS Office. They can also embed videos and animate individual objects, just like in Microsoft PowerPoint. It also offers many templates, so users can pick their favorite.

However, users should keep in mind that while the software is free, it is supported by ads, which may be a bit intrusive at times. In addition to this, collaboration is less straightforward than with Google Slides.

WPS Office is available across all major platforms such as Windows, macOS, Linux. iOS, and Android. There is a web-based version available as well. Alternatively, you can check out this handy guide to smoothen your transition to WPS Office from Microsoft .

Xtensio presentation maker web app.

Xtensio is one of the best options for business users. It has many templates available regarding various organization sections, such as marketing, UX design, etc.

With Xtensio's easy-to-use interface, even newbies can create professional-looking reports and presentations. Additionally, they offer even greater flexibility in terms of design. You can edit each object in a template to suit your specific needs.

But it does have some shortcomings. For one thing, users cannot export their presentations in PowerPoint format. Additionally, the free version supports only one user at a time with a storage space of 1MB.

6. LibreOffice

LibreOffice Impress Presentation Software editing screen

LibreOffice is open-source presentation software that does everything PowerPoint can do. Although it lacks functionality such as OneDrive Integration, its PowerPoint-like functionality more than makes up for it.

LibreOffice has its share of useful features, such as the ability to import Keynote files. In addition, LibreOffice has a vast collection of free templates that users can use to create their presentations.

If that's not enough, you can download additional templates from LibreOffice's online repository. LibreOffice is available across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

7. Zoho Show

Zoho Show presentation maker

There are several reasons to use Zoho Show for your next presentation. It's a great presentation tool that's similar to Google Slides, but even better. Users can also import and edit all their PowerPoint files in the online tool.

Users can create tables, infographics, and data charts within Zoho Show itself. In addition to this, the service also has in-built Google Image Search functionality that lets you search and insert images quickly.

Related: Tools to Give an Online Presentation From Anywhere

Additionally, Zoho Show supports collaboration in real-time and multiple users can edit presentations. Although there's not much to complain about in Zoho Show, many users would like to have more options when it comes to templates and animations.

Worthy PowerPoint Alternatives

Essentially, all these tools and services function the same way as PowerPoint without the cost. Furthermore, the web-based alternatives are more advanced such as automatic saving and cloud storage.

Despite this, PowerPoint remains the front-runner when it comes to presentation software. As such, it is important for users to know how to make the best out of its features.

How to Make a Better Presentation Without PowerPoint (+Top Alternatives)

Zach LeBar

  • Bahasa Indonesia

Do you have to make a presentation soon? It probably isn't your first. You know the drill:

  • Fire up PowerPoint, or Keynote.
  • Create some slides.
  • Try some new fonts.
  • Play with a new template.

And yet, you're still feeling unenthused. You want something new, something different.

Maybe you're putting together the monthly sales report, and you're presenting it to your bosses yet again. Or, you're pitching something to a brand new client and you need to make an impact. You know they've heard other proposals, and you want yours to stand out from the rest. Or, you're struggling to figure out how to get a PowerPoint presentation to look nice in the first place.

We've already looked at the absolute basics of making a presentation with PowerPoint:

But do you know how to make a presentation without PowerPoint?

In this article, we review a few different types of powerful alternatives to PowerPoint presentation software. We explore why you might want to use each of these options, and how you can quickly put them to work for you. We also take a quick look at how to make a presentation without PowerPoint. We'll explore creative presentation ideas other than PowerPoint or any other slide presentation software tool.

We also have a comprehensive eBook you can download for free:  The Complete Guide to Making Great Presentations .  It'll help you master the complete presentation process.

So, we've seen how you can make a great presentation in any app. But perhaps you want more. In that case, you need the " anti-PowerPoints ," the newest apps with novel approaches to presentations.

Let's dive in.

How to Engage Your Presentation Audience - Without PowerPoint

It's easy to think only of software tools such as PowerPoint when you consider giving a presentation. But there are many PowerPoint alternatives you can use to make an effective presentation. Some of those tools and techniques aren't even software oriented.

The main goal of any good presentation is to engage your audience. If you'll be giving a presentation, first consider using one or more of these creative presentation ideas without PowerPoint or the need for other software:

  • Props . Show and Tell isn't just for elementary school. If you bring an example of what you're talking about, your audience will be more receptive to what you're saying. Make sure that whatever object you use as a prop is large enough to be seen by everyone in the audience.
  • Q&A . Give your audience a chance to get involved in your presentation by scheduling a question and answer session as part of your presentation. Or, provide another twist on Q & A and let a panel of experts answer audience questions.
  • Videos . Slide presentations are great and so is added animation. But sometimes what your audience really needs is a quick movie. A short video presentation can increase audience interest when it's relevant to the point you're making.
  • Music . Research shows that adding music to your presentation helps your listeners remember what you're saying.
  • Humor . Adding a joke into your presentation can lighten your audience's mood and make them more receptive to what you've got to say.

To learn more about how to connect with your audience, and more creative presentation ideas without the need for PowerPoint, review this tutorial:

presentation software except powerpoint

Now that we've explored some non-technical PowerPoint alternatives, let's look at some great software PowerPoint alternatives.

1. Great Alternatives to PowerPoint: Google Slides & Keynote

Of course, there are many other alternatives to PowerPoint when it comes to selecting presentation software. Two of the most notable options are Google Slides and Keynote . Let's take a quick look at each of these tools:

Google Slides

Google Slides has come a long way since it was introduced as part of Google apps included with Google Drive. One of its strengths is that it's web-based. That makes it ideal for collaboration. If you need to work with someone else on your presentation, Google Slides may be the right choice for you.

Keynote is part of Apple's iWork productivity suite. The intuitive interface will be familiar to Mac users. But if you want to open a Keynote file on a PC you will need to export it to either a .pdf or .ppt file.

For a more in-depth look at both Google Slides and Keynote, as well as a comparative look at PowerPoint, review this article:

2. The Original Anti-PowerPoint: Prezi

Popular PowerPoint Alternative Prezi

When it comes to the "anti-PowerPoints,"  Prezi is king. It walks that fine line between being unique yet understandable, engaging and yet still comfortable. Prezi bills itself as a " nonlinear presentation tool. " That's an apt description for an app that flies in the face of traditional presentations' " stack of slides " metaphor.

Prezi Is a Powerful Nonlinear Presentation Tool

Instead of seeing each part of your presentation as individual slides, Prezi lets you lay out your entire presentation on one canvas, and then zoom in and out to see specific points or the bigger picture.

You've likely already seen nonlinear presentations during TED talks. Perhaps you've seen infographic-style videos that put info together for a big picture at the end. It can be an effective presentation style for conveying information that goes together—or just for spicing up a traditional presentation.

If you want to make nonlinear presentation, you'll find that Prezi is a great app for it. It's simple to use, with an interface that keeps enough of the traditional slide layout to make you feel comfortable with it, while giving you the simple tools you need to format your text and more.

As a web app, you can use Prezi from any computer, and collaborate with others on the same presentation. But then, that's not much different from Google Slides , Keynote for iCloud , and Microsoft's PowerPoint web app.

Prezi's main differentiator, of course, is its nonlinear presentation style. That's tough to really capture with mere words. So, check out the short video below to see Prezi in action, and how its nonlinear format changes the way you think about presentations:

presentation software except powerpoint

Isn't that cool?! Prezi really is a great solution when you feel like you've seen one-too-many PowerPoint presentations. The online tools are very intuitive and easy to use, you'll be creating Prezis in no time. It's the perfect first app to try if you want alternatives to PowerPoint for your next presentation.

3. Do-It-Yourself Animated Videos

This is an interesting segment of the " anti-PowerPoint " market. Tools to help you make those popular stop-motion animation films or hand-drawn cartoons that are so popular for advertising new apps these days.

As with any filming, hand-animated videos are difficult and time-consuming to make and need a ton of expensive equipment. That's clearly more work to take on than you want for your next presentation.

But with animation apps, you can get a similar effect far cheaper, and in far less time. That makes them perfect for something you'd otherwise have tried to describe with a PowerPoint slide deck. Plus, animated clips have the advantage of letting you step outside of the laws of physics and reality. They help you make an idea or concept more understandable than it otherwise would have been.

Now, if you're truly wanting a full-featured animated video, you'll never have a replacement for professional animators. Each of these apps, even though billed as " professional animated tools ," are simplified animation tools designed just for making a simple demonstration video. That's great if that's all you need, but don't dive in thinking you'll be able to make the next Paperman  in five minutes.

If you're wanting to make a much better presentation than PowerPoint—or Prezi—could ever allow, though, these tools are perfect. They'll let you put together a hand-drawn animated video in minutes, ready to show off your ideas better than bullet points ever could. Here's the best apps for that:

Vyond - Powerful PowerPoint Alternative

Presentation Alternative GoAnimate

In the realm of online do-it-yourself animation tools, Vyond  is at the top of its game. Its web app makes it easy to pull their wide array of animation styles and pre-made graphics together into an animated presentation. You can easily customize those graphics as well, so your finished product will look like your very own—even if it's built from stock graphics.

Beyond just the animated graphics, Vyond supports audio, too. You can give your characters dialog, uploading your own voice recordings—or outsourcing to professional voice actors. And those characters will automatically get built-in lip sync animations. But more than just the spoken word, Vyond offers a library of both music and sound effects, helping your animation really come to life. Once things are finished, you've got a wide array of one-click export options to various social networks. Or if you'd prefer, you can download an HD video file for use wherever you like.

The app  is very polished. If you're wanting to quickly make animated videos, it's a great option. All in all, Vyond's vast catalog of built-in customizable graphics and audio support with lip sync animations makes it a great PowerPoint Alternative if you want to animate your next presentation.

VideoScribe - Creative PowerPoint Alternative

PowerPoint Alternative VideoScribe

VideoScribe carved out a nifty little niche for itself by letting you create those fancy " whiteboard animations " that have become a huge hit across the Web. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about, have a look at this video, produced by VideoScribe . Cool, right?

I'm a big fan of this style of animation, but it can be a costly thing to produce custom. What VideoScribe lets you do is take a whole bunch of pre-drawn, pre-animated images, put them together in a way that best suits you and the message you want to convey. Then it turns the whole thing into a slick little animation. Where Vyond lets you make a cartoon-style video, VideoScribe gives you similar stock graphics that'll be drawn on-screen during your presentation with a real hand, to give the feel of someone sketching your presentation.

It's surprisingly simple to put together a VideoScribe—much like you might expect. You'll mainly drag-and-drop pre-made graphics into the storyboard. Then let the app work its own magic—and you can have something presentable worked up in a matter of minutes.

This sort of video will definitely make an impact if all your audience was expecting was a humdrum PowerPoint presentation.

4. HTML-Based Presentations With Reveal.js

Then, with the apps we've looked at so far being web apps, it's only fitting to look at the latest " anti-PowerPoint" : HTML-powered presentations. As you've perhaps seen from some Google IO conference presentations, there's plenty of web features today to turn basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into a full presentation that's just an animated website.

You can create your presentations in your favorite code editor, save them online in revision control tools like Git, and present them in any browser. Anything you can add to a website, you can put into an HTML presentation.

That's very cool, but it'd also typically take far longer to make presentations with raw code than it'd ever take to make a PowerPoint presentation. But thanks to  Reveal.js  and its web app counterpart,  Slides , it's as easy to make an HTML presentation as it is to make a presentation in any of the other apps we've looked at.

PowerPoint Alternative Revealjs

Reveal.js is an open-source framework for turning an HTML document into a killer presentation. It's pretty impressive. Just look at this introduction presentation to get a feel for what Reveal.js is capable of—especially considering it's all done with standards-compliant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It offers modern transitions, some subtly non-linear presentation features, and even a PDF export option.

If you're capable of hand-writing your own HTML code, then take a look at the documentation for Reveal.js on Github . With the help of some JavaScript code and specific tag attributes on your HTML elements, Reveal.js turns a typical HTML document into a fancy presentation, for free.

But then, everyone doesn't want to hand-code an HTML page each time they make a presentation, so that's where  Slides comes in. It's a hosted version of Reveal.js, combined with an elegant GUI. So, you can use its power to make your own slideshows with the simple tools you'd expect from any other presentations app. There's even the extra features, such as web fonts and CSS customization, that you'd expect from a web-powered presentation.

Both Reveal.js and Slides have lots to offer—the former's great if you're comfortable coding your own presentation. The latter's a perfect option if you're looking for a new, simpler presentations app that won't need any coding.

It is an open source office suite just like LibreOffice, but comes with a nicer interface (at least Microsoft Office users said that). OnlyOffice consists of three main components, one of which — of course — is a presentation maker tool. OnlyOffice Presentation also has a good compatibility with PowerPoint. In fact, it only supports Microsoft PowerPoint file format (PPTX). Not even ODP that is becomes the standard format of LibreOffice. OnlyOffice itself is available in two versions: desktop and SaaS . The desktop version of OnlyOffice is available for Linux, Windows and macOS as well.

5. Calligra Stage

presentation software except powerpoint

Calligra Stage is a free presentation make tool part of Calligra Suite, an open source office suite developed by the KDE community. Unlike four first presentation tools above, Calligra Stage doesn’t come with a compatibility with Microsoft PowerPoint. The tool only supports OpenDocument presentation (ODP). Calligra Stage has a bunch of ready-to-use presentation templates that you can use for free. Although the software is aimed primarily at Linux users, Mac and Windows users can also use it. You can download the Calliga Suite package here .

6. FreeOffice Presentations

presentation software except powerpoint

Miss the old look of Microsoft PowerPoint? If so, then FreeOffice Presentations is a worth-trying item. FreeOffice Presentations is a part of  FreeOffice , a free office suite developed by a German company SoftMaker. Although has an old-fashioned look, FreeOffice Presentations is capable enough of replacing the PowerPoint role in helping you creating presentation files. It also has a good compatibility with Microsoft PowerPoint. FreeOffice is available for Linux and Windows. So, sorry Mac users.

7. Zoho Show

presentation software except powerpoint

Lazy enough to install a new application on your computer? Then an online presentation maker is the best solution. One of the online presentation makers that has a compatibility with Microsoft PowerPoint and you can use for free is Zoho Show . Zoho Show is a part of a Zoho Docs, an online office suite from Zoho. Since it is an SaaS software, you don’t need to install any app to start using. Just launch your web browser and you can start to work. As I said, Zoho Show also has a good compatibility with Microsoft PowerPoint. You can open as well as edit a PPTX file using this tool. In addition, it also support OpenDocument Presentation forrmat (ODP).

8. Google Slides

presentation software except powerpoint

Google Slides is the closest competitor of Zoho Show. One thing that makes Google Slides slightly superior to Zoho Show is that you can enhance its functionalities by installing add-ons. However, the native features and capabilities of Google Slides are not much different to Zoho Show. This online presentation maker is also compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint. Furthermore, it also supports OpenDocument Presentation format.

Visme vs. PowerPoint: Which Presentation Software is Right for You?

Visme vs. PowerPoint: Which Presentation Software is Right for You?

Written by: Chloe West

visme vs powerpoint - header wide

Last Updated: 9/16/2019

The main difference between Visme and PowerPoint is that Visme has the capabilities for users to create stunning, dynamic, interactive and engaging presentations, while PowerPoint has limited features and design elements, leading its users to create more basic presentations.

While PowerPoint may have some redeeming qualities, we’re comparing it to our intuitive presentation design tool Visme to show you just how good things can get.

But first, here are some quick stats from G2 :

  • 93% of customers using Visme said they are likely to recommend it to other professionals , while only 91% of PowerPoint users said the same.
  • 99% of Visme users said that our team is easy to work with , while only 90% of PowerPoint customers said the same.

Ready to dive deeper into the comparison? Keep reading!

Visme vs. PowerPoint [Infographic]

There are many different reasons you may need a presentation, whether you’re giving a speech at a conference or networking event, presenting numbers or findings to your team or company executives, creating a project for class or giving a sales pitch.

However, finding the best presentation software that fits your needs and your design capabilities is important to make putting together your slides the easiest part of your prep.

Take a quick look at this infographic that shows how Visme and PowerPoint stack up against each other when it comes to the most important features in presentation design.

An infographic comparing Visme and PowerPoint's features.

Scroll down to read more about each feature in detail.

We have also included screenshots from each software to help you determine which platform is best for you to create your next presentation.

Let’s dive in, starting with creating your presentation and running through the end to sharing and presenting your slideshow.

1 Slide Layouts

First things first, you need to decide on what your slides are going to look like. This could entail your overall look and feel, a color scheme that matches your topic (unless you’ll be using your brand colors) and slide layouts that match the content you’ll need to include in your presentation.

On PowerPoint, you have about 24 built-in layouts/themes to choose from and use as the basis for your presentation design.

visme vs powerpoint - slide layouts 1

Once you choose a basic layout, you have the same nine slide outlines to customize to fit your presentation.

This is why nearly every PowerPoint presentation looks the same. You get a Title Slide page, a Section Header page, and just a handful of different Content pages.

visme vs powerpoint - slide layouts 2

With Visme, you’re able to choose between a presentation template and a presentation theme.

Templates are complete, pre-designed presentations with 3-15 different slides. Visme currently offers over 100 unique templates to choose from, and is always adding more options.

visme vs powerpoint - slide layouts 3

Visme’s presentation designer also offers a couple of different themes to choose from when creating your presentation. A theme includes 400-900+ different slide designs all with the same look and feel.

visme vs powerpoint - slide layouts 4

Ready to create your own presentation in minutes?

  • Add your own text, images and more
  • Customize colors, fonts and everything else
  • Choose from hundreds of slide designs and templates
  • Add interactive buttons and animations

The templates are more intricately designed and are perfect for presentations that match their intent. However, if you’re going to need multiple presentations for different things that all have the same look and feel, our themes are perfect for you.

Our Classic theme has over 400 slide layouts while our Modern theme has over 900 different slide layouts to help you find one that matches your exact vision for your presentation.

visme vs powerpoint - slide layouts 5

2 Slide Editor

After you have chosen the overall look and feel of your slide layouts, you need to edit your presentation slides so they fit your brand and content.

When editing and designing your presentation in PowerPoint, you’re extremely limited. PowerPoint’s slide editor really only allows you to edit in the content areas provided in the slide layout chosen.

visme vs powerpoint - slide editor

While you can always move those to a more ideal spot, or add more text and content boxes if you need to,  your range of customization is simply not what it could be.

Meanwhile, Visme gives you full range design options on your slide.

You can turn on the grid layout to align items and help guide margins, but you have no limitations to where any of your text, images, charts and other elements need to go.

Visme also has a drag-and-drop editor, allowing you to easily choose design elements, photos, content blocks and more from the left sidebar and quickly drag them to the area you want it to be on your slide.

3 Brand Kit

If you’re creating a presentation that will represent your business, it’s a good idea to have it match your brand . This includes your colors, fonts, logo and the like.

In PowerPoint, you’re automatically given a list of preset color schemes to choose from, but there’s no ability to add in hex codes.

visme vs powerpoint - color themes presentations

Instead, if you click on Customize Colors, you have to use a color wheel to find your colors or a color picker to grab them off an image.

However, it is possible to grab your brand colors if you input your logo onto the slide and then use the color picker to create a custom color scheme.

visme vs powerpoint - color picker presentations

Once you’ve chosen your colors, you are able to save them as a custom color scheme to go back to later.

Now let’s talk fonts. If you have a set font or two that your brand uses for its headers and body copy, you want to be able to use them within your presentation to help increase brand recognition.

You’re absolutely able to download fonts to your computer and use them in your PowerPoint presentation so that it’s customizable.

But if you’re sending that presentation to someone else or presenting it on a different computer that doesn’t have those font files, your custom and branded fonts disappear.

Furthermore, if you create a slide that you’ll need to use in multiple presentations throughout your business (like your thank you/contact page), you have no way of easily duplicating it without opening both files and copying and pasting your slide(s).

In Visme, you’re able to create an entire brand kit on your business account for you and your entire team (if you have one) to access.

visme vs powerpoint - brand kit

You can upload your brand fonts and use them within your presentation. And, unlike PowerPoint, your presentation is hosted online, which means your fonts of choice stay in place.

You are also able to upload various color schemes and themes to choose from in your presentation design. These remain in the color chooser for you to easily access throughout your design.

visme vs powerpoint - brand kit colors

Your brand kit also includes an area for you to add templates that you use often for your business, various logo files, and quick grab links for your website and social media platforms.

There’s another great feature called your Slide Library that allows you to create slides that you add across various presentations. If you create an end slide that you want to add in every presentation, simply save it to your library to access it later.

Now let’s say down the road, you’ve created a good couple of hundred different presentations, but you end up changing your Twitter and Instagram handles during a rebrand.

You don’t need to go through each individual presentation to update that information.

Jump into your slide library, fix the information there and it will automatically replace the old handles in every single one of your presentations.

4 Interactivity

Whether you’re giving a live presentation or embedding a slideshow on your website, interactivity is always a good idea . You can add interactivity by creating links, call-to-action buttons and more that allow your audience to engage with your presentation.

If you’re giving a live presentation, you might stop for a minute and click on a link to open a video. If you have a slideshow presentation embedded on a page of your website, it allows your audience to have more fun with your slides.

Keeping your audience engaged during your presentation is key. You don’t want to see people starting to pull out their phones and zone out from your speech.

When we think interactivity, there are a few things that come to mind. The ability to click around your presentation, for one. Like we mentioned, links and call-to-action buttons within your slides can be a great way to engage your audience.

However, adding in videos and audio narratives to your slides can also be a unique way to engage your audience and give them a different voice or perspective during the presentation.

In PowerPoint, you’re able to add in links by going to the Insert tab and clicking on Link.

First, you’ll want to select the text or object that you want to link and then add in a link to a web page, file, another slide or an email address.

visme vs powerpoint - interactivity 1

You’re also able to add audio clips into your PowerPoint by going to Insert > Audio.

From there, you can choose to add in an audio file or record within your PowerPoint. This will add a speaker icon and playback controls to your slide. You can then edit the settings on your audio file to play automatically or upon clicking.

If you want to add a video to one of your slides, you can also use the Insert tab on PowerPoint. Then you can upload a video file or embed a video from YouTube or another online source.

However, it’s important to note that there is no Mac version of PowerPoint that supports embedding online videos. In that case, you must download your video file and upload it to your slide.

And on the PC versions, you’re required to have Internet Explorer 11 downloaded on your computer in order for PowerPoint to support embedded videos.

In Visme, you have a lot of the same interactivity options alongside a couple more.

There are three different link options: hyperlink, slide or pop-up. All you have to do is select your object or group of objects, and click on the hyperlink icon in the top navigation.

visme vs powerpoint - interactivity 2

All of your hyperlink options are right here in this easy-to-use tab. Link to a website and choose if you want it to open in the same window or a separate window.

You can also link to a different slide in the presentation. Or create a pop-up link, which means you essentially hide elements in your slide until you click on the object they’re linked to.

To do this, it’s a good idea to first turn on your objects list so you can rename various elements, or at least find their automated title.

visme vs powerpoint - interactivity 3

You’ll then select object(s) that you want to appear on click, choose the element you want to click on for them to appear and then tap on Apply.

This can be a great way to offer suspense to your audience and even give you interactive options like creating a quiz or Q&A within your presentation.

You can also add audio or video directly into your slide by going to the Media menu in the left sidebar. You’re able to easily insert a video link, add audio or embed online content without any workarounds or other software needed.

Visme doesn’t offer the option to upload videos directly to your presentation as that would increase your presentation size and cause potential loading issues. We recommend simply embedding an online video.

visme vs powerpoint - interactivity 4

When you click Add Audio, this also gives you the option of uploading an audio file or recording audio directly in your slide. Check out how this Visme user has capitalized on the recorded audio feature.

5 Animation

Another great way to spice up your presentation design and keep your audience engaged is by animating your slides . This can be transitions between slides or even animated elements on your slide.

Just remember that you want all of your animations to be consistent. Too many animations on a single slide looks messy and gives the opposite effect of what you’re looking for.

PowerPoint allows you to set animations for both your slide transitions and your elements within your slides. There are two separate tabs to do this: Transitions and Animation.

PowerPoint offers a lot of transition and animation options, but this is more of a curse than a blessing. When posed with too many options, users tend to go overboard with transitions and animations, ending up with a presentation with twelve different transitions and fifty different animations.

visme vs powerpoint - animation presentation transitions

We always recommend that you stick to a single one throughout your entire presentation.

Remember: less is more.

When editing your transitions in PowerPoint, you’re first able to choose your preferred transition before then selecting which part of the screen you want that transition to start.

visme vs powerpoint - animation presentation transitions 2

Your Animations tab is similar.

First, you choose from one of PowerPoint’s element animation effect options.

visme vs powerpoint - animation presentation transitions 3

Then you’re also able to click on the three tabs next to the choices to further edit Emphasis Effects, Exit Effects and your Path Animation.

There’s also an animation pane available so that you can see all of your animated elements at once and ensure none of them are happening on top of each other.

The purpose of Visme is to allow non-designers to create beautiful designs, whether it’s a presentation, an infographic or a social media cover photo. This is why we only provide a handful of transitions and animations guaranteed to impress.

In Visme, your transition and animation features are much simpler. We have eight different transition options for you to choose from, some that move all of your content as once, and some that also automatically move your elements in a cohesive transition.

visme vs powerpoint - animation presentation transitions 4

This means you can have a seamless transition that automatically transitions your slides and animates your elements with just a couple of clicks.

Tap the gear icon at the corner of your slide in the right sidebar, choose Change Transition, select your conditions and Transition style then click Apply to all slides. Voila, you’re all set!

Visme also offers some great animation options if you want to add extra emphasis.

Click on the element(s) that you want to animate, then just click the Animate option in the top settings bar to view your options.

visme vs powerpoint - animation presentation transitions 5

You can choose how your element enters and exits, set the time you want it to start and then choose your animation effect before clicking Apply.

We love the use of icons in any kind of design, whether it’s a presentation, infographic or a social media image. They can help visualize any topic or information without having a wall of text.

So when creating a presentation, you definitely want to take advantage of icons when it makes sense.

In PowerPoint, you can go to Insert > Icons to access 500 single-style icons to include in your presentations.

visme vs powerpoint - icons 1

While we love that the icons all match, you are limited with your options.

You can also change the color of your icons to match your brand or your presentation’s color scheme, but all icons are a single color.

visme vs powerpoint - icons 2

In Visme, we have over 10,000 different icons in four distinct styles: flat, multi-color, outline and isometric.

visme vs powerpoint - icons 3

You can access all of our icon options by navigating to the Graphics tab in the left sidebar. Browse through our categories or search for the type of icon you’re looking for.

When you click on a category, you’re also able to choose which style of icon you want to look through so that you can keep all of your icons consistent. Remember, just because you have more style choices doesn’t mean you want to use them. Consistency is key.

Furthermore, if you choose one of our multi-colored icons, you’re able to change each of the colors in the icon to match your branding and your presentation style.

visme vs powerpoint - icons 4

  • Customize anything to fit your design and content needs

7 Charts and Graphs

Including charts and graphs in your presentation is the perfect way to present data in a visual way and offer a compelling argument to your audience.

You want these visuals to be just as engaging and visually appealing as the rest of your presentation or they’ll seem out of place.

To add a chart in PowerPoint, head back to the Insert tab and select Chart. From there, you’re able to choose which type of chart you want to add, like a bar, line or pie chart.

visme vs powerpoint - charts and graphs presentation

You can choose which colors your graph elements should be, but you’ll have to edit your chart data in the Excel sheet that pops up. This means you’ll need access (and know-how) to both PowerPoint and Excel in order to add in any charts or graphs to your slides.

If you want to animate your chart, PowerPoint automatically just animates the entire object.

You have to go into the settings and choose to animate by series, category or element in order to make pieces of your chart become animated .

When creating a chart or graph in a Visme presentation, you have two options.

First, you can start with a premade Charts and Graphs slide from one of our themes. There are radials, statistical representations, thermometers, progress bars, bar charts, line graphs and more.

visme vs powerpoint - charts and graphs presentation 2

Or, if you’ve chosen one of our templates or are adding a chart or graph into a slide you’ve already created, click on the Data tab in the left sidebar to access all of our available data visualization tools.

There are over 50 different data visualization types to choose from so that you can represent any kind of numbers in front of your audience.

visme vs powerpoint - charts and graphs 3

Once you choose your data visualization tool, your Graph Engine will appear, allowing you to further customize your chart or graph. Add your data manually in the area provided or import it from a Google or Excel sheet, then update your settings to customize axis information and more.

visme vs powerpoint - charts and graphs 4

Visme also automatically animates your individual chart elements so that they grab your audience’s attention as they appear on the slide. You can choose from our four different chart animation options or turn the animation off in the settings tab as well.

8 Sharing Presentations

Of course, once you finish creating your presentation, it’s time to share it!

You might first want to share it with a colleague and hand off editing access so they can proofread after you. You may want to share it on your website or in an email with your customers. Or you could share it with the host of the event you’re speaking at so they can get it ready.

Regardless, there are many reasons you’ll want to share and show off all of the hard work that you put into your presentation.

In PowerPoint, you have three sharing options: Invite People, Copy Link, or Send a Copy. However, you have to log into and connect your app with Microsoft OneDrive first to upload the file.

To do this, click Share in the top right corner to log in before sending it off.

visme vs powerpoint - sharing presentations 1

This allows you to send off a single presentation at a time. PowerPower doesn’t offer the ability to collaborate on folders and multiple projects at once; only individual projects.

If you want to share a folder of projects, you’ll have to save each one into a folder on your computer, zip up that folder, and then go into your email client to send it to each person that needs it, rather than being able to do that all in one place and with minimal effort.

Remember that in PowerPoint, if you don’t want the person accessing your presentation to have editing access, you’ll have to mark your presentation as read-only.

You can do this by going to File > Info, then clicking Protect Presentation and Mark as Final.

Be sure you don’t delete your editable PowerPoint file after creating a final version or you’ll lose access to editing your presentation completely.

With Visme, you also have the option to send your presentation both for editing and view-only. Once you finish up your design and want to have a team member take a look at it, head back to your dashboard.

Click on the hamburger menu icon and then click on Share Project.

visme vs powerpoint - sharing presentations 2

This allows you to easily share your presentation with a team member so that they can also edit or make comments on your slides.

You can choose to share with specific people via name, email address or even groups of people in your team settings, so the entire marketing team can preview your presentation before you publish it.

With Visme Enterprise plans you can even create your own custom roles, giving larger teams with specific sharing requirements even more flexibility.

When you’re ready to share with your audience or want to send a view-only option, jump back into your presentation and click Share in the top right corner.

This will lead to a pop-up with three different sharing options.

You’re able to publish your presentation online and Visme will host it for you. You can share it privately with colleagues and connections. Or you can generate an embed code to place it on your website.

visme vs powerpoint - sharing presentations 3

One perk about Visme is the ability to share entire folders with your team. If you’ve created a folder of presentations surrounding a specific topic or type of report, you can easily share it with your teammates directly in the Visme dashboard.

You can also set user permissions, like giving editing access to the group of Admins on your team and view-only access to the group of regular users on your team.

Furthermore, you can embed presentations on your website for your audience to interact with or send presentation links in email newsletters without you or your reader ever having to download anything.

Visme also offers an HTML5 download feature for presenting offline, which comes in handy when you’re presenting in places where you’re unsure about the WiFi access. Although most locations have some sort of internet available, you can never be too careful.

9 Lead Generation

One great perk that Visme has over PowerPoint is the ability to be used as a lead generation tool.

Everyone has eBooks and digital documents as their lead magnet. And while these tools are still incredibly effective, why not stand out from the crowd and try something different?

Create a pre-recorded webinar or an interactive presentation with Visme and use it as your email list-building tool by sharing it with your audience upon registration.

When you hit Share in your presentation design, click Advanced Settings at the top of the pop-up. Go to the Social / Engagement tab and turn on the option to require registration.

visme vs powerpoint - sharing presentations 4

This gives you the ability to collect contact information from anyone who is interested in reading through or listening to your gated content.

You can then view your form results in your Visme dashboard to download the data and upload it to your CRM or email marketing platform.

10 Analytics

Visme also offers analytics for your projects, yet another feature PowerPoint is unable to offer.

Since PowerPoint only provides you with an offline file, there’s no way for them to supply analytics on views and interaction in your presentation.

But since Visme is an online software that hosts your projects for you, we can give you this data so that you’re able to see how successful your presentations, webinars and even your other projects are.

visme vs powerpoint - analytics

Our analytics will show you an interactive line graph with your data at a glance as well as a table with the name, type, views, unique visits and more for each of your published projects.

11 Non-Presentation Design

The last thing on our list covers the ability to design visuals other than presentations. And this is definitely where Visme has PowerPoint beat.

PowerPoint focuses on presentation creation, but you have to bring Excel in if you want to add a chart or graph to a slide, and you can't create many types of visual content other than presentation slides.

But Visme is a full range graphic design software, allowing you to create presentations, infographics, eBooks, reports, social media graphics and so much more. Browse through our thousands of available templates to see just how many different creations you can design.

The 11 Best Presentation Software to Use in 2024

best presentation software to use in 2024, presentation software list

The ability to effectively share ideas, illustrate a concept, and convince an audience is invaluable whether you’re a student or a C-level executive. These days, the presentation software you use to create presentations is just as important as your public-speaking skills.

On top of that, most companies have transitioned to remote work recently due to the current coronavirus situation, and now need to share their stories online through a virtual conference room with their distributed teams and external audience members.

That’s why we’ve come up with a list of some of the best presentation software available right now, so you can choose a compatible and innovative presentation maker that includes the best presentation tools to suit your specific needs.

Choose the best presentation software by weighing the pros and cons

You’ll see some of the most popular presentation apps: from free to paid subscription platforms, and slideshow applications to full-blown visual design presentation software with interactive features and more.

Each presentation software has its pros and cons, so it’s up to you to figure out which suits your needs best; consider the software learning curve, whether your company is made up of Mac users or Windows users and the software compatibility, if you need an enterprise account or free account, etc.

Let’s dive in!

1. Piktochart

presentation software piktochart, best presentation software

Piktochart is a presentation software that can create a variety of design visuals, from infographics to social media stories.

An area in which Piktochart shines is crafting unique presentations.

On Piktochart, users can choose from a wide range of professionally-designed presentation templates .

These custom templates include everything from monthly marketing reports to employee onboarding templates.

This broad selection of customizable templates is especially useful for those who don’t have much design experience or know-how but need to create a visually stunning unique presentation in a pinch.

Piktochart’s presentation maker also makes it easy to edit presentations and include design elements such as lists, timelines, comparisons, graphs, and different types of charts through drag-and-drop tools.

You can even make visual maps and interactive charts to keep your audience engaged throughout your presentation.

And if your company uses a Piktochart TEAM plan , you can enjoy the platform’s ability to store brand assets , color schemes, and bespoke templates. Here, replicating company-branded visuals is a breeze.

Piktochart comes with a free version but with certain limitations. Active visuals are capped at five per month and published visuals have a Piktochart watermark.

If you want features such as team template collaboration, project sharing, and annotated commenting, you’ll have to get a Team account. To sum it up:

  • Lots of professionally-designed templates
  • Good for both design professionals and non-professionals
  • Easy to store brand assets and bespoke templates for future presentations
  • Access presentation tools from anywhere via a web browser
  • Free presentation app version available
  • Might take some getting used to if you’re used to PowerPoint presentations

2. Microsoft PowerPoint

microsoft powerpoint, powerpoint presentation

Microsoft PowerPoint is often the first presentation software that comes to mind.

Once considered the “O.G.” and best presentation software available, it is still widely used and has a familiar interface—which means most users are comfortable with it.

This presentation app has everything you need to create a presentation: from animated transitions for interactive presentations to pre-installed fonts and graphic elements.

Users can also upload their own fonts, graphics, and images into their finished presentation.

Lastly, it’s available as part of the Microsoft Office software package; and you can work on your presentations via the web and mobile devices, for offline viewing as well as online.

However, PowerPoint is no longer considered the best presentation software, as it has very few templates to choose from, and these tend to fall quite flat compared to modern apps and software.

It’s easy to fall back into boring slideshow PowerPoint files if you don’t know what you’re doing.

And because most people use PowerPoint, you’re likely using the same template as the next guy.

As standalone presentation software, PowerPoint is pricey at US$139.99—and accessible through only one device unless you upgrade your package.

And while PowerPoint is primarily a slideshow application and presentation maker, its strengths are limited to this category.

So if you’re looking for the best presentation software, and bang for your buck for a robust presentation tool, you might want to look elsewhere.

  • Market leader in slideshow applications to create slides
  • Widely used and familiar interface for the presentation process
  • Reliable and usable on most devices as well as being a desktop app
  • Flat templates
  • Limitations with its standalone-presentation software price

3. Google Slides

google slides, presentation software example

Google Slides is a slideshow application that is very similar to PowerPoint.  But there are three main differences: it’s fully online (while also allowing for offline viewing), collaborative, and free.

The great thing about Google Slides (besides the fact that it’s completely free for anyone with a Google account) is that you can log on via your browser or through its official app.

You can access all Google Slides presentations from any device (mobile, tablet, and desktop), and share them with other people so you can collaborate in real-time.

Google Drive allows all your presentations to live on the cloud, accessible to all marketing and sales teams, with unparalleled ease of use.

And there’s no need to worry about disruptions as all changes are saved as they happen, as long as you have an active internet connection.

Additionally, anyone familiar with PowerPoint will be comfortable using Google’s iteration and likely be delighted by Google Drive and the slide library available.

It’s also a lot simpler, so even those new to presentation-making will find it easy to navigate.

However, some might find Google Slides too simple as it lacks the wealth of features available on PowerPoint.

These include embedding videos from sources other than YouTube, plus adding audio tracks and sound effects, limiting the ability to create unique interactive presentations.

Some users also encounter issues with downloading and exporting to different formats, including PowerPoint.

Some slides may even turn out completely different from the original version.

All in all, Google Slides is a great option for those who are looking for a free application and only need to create simple presentations.

  • The free plan supports professional presentations
  • Web-based and collaborative to create presentations
  • Simple and familiar interface for an online presentation software
  • Too simple for advanced presentation making
  • Difficult to export to other formats
  • Limited templates and customization options for interactive content

keynote, keynote presentations

You could say Keynote is Apple’s version of PowerPoint. It’s also a slideshow application—but in typical Apple fashion, it comes with a sleek, minimalist interface and is considered one of the best presentation apps on the market.

There are 30 different themes to choose from, which serve as templates for those who need a quick fix. And it can do most of what PowerPoint can.

Keynote’s main perk is that it’s part of the Apple ecosystem.

That means it has built-in iCloud and Apple Watch support so users can control their presentation from their mobile device or even their wrists with just a click.

This presentation app comes pre-installed on most Mac devices. Otherwise, you can purchase it from the Apple store for just US$9.99 for mobile and US$19.99 for OS X.

The big downside is that Keynote is exclusive to Mac OS.

Non-Apple users can create, upload, and sync their own Keynote presentations through their iCloud Drive, but this presentation app is only truly helpful only for those who use multiple Apple devices.

And if you’re used to working on PowerPoint, you might find Keynote a bit confusing in the beginning, especially when editing presentations.

  • Sleek, minimalist interface
  • Free with most Apple devices
  • No access for PC and Android devices except through iCloud

5. SlideDog

Sliding away from straightforward slideshow applications and other presentation apps, SlideDog is a web-based multimedia presentation tool that lets users combine different types of media to create and edit presentations.

This includes everything from PowerPoint decks to videos and even PDFs that can all be played side by side without any awkward transitions.

It’s also extremely easy to customize a SlideDog presentation.

You just need to upload the files into the SlideDog web browser application, and then drag and drop them according to the order in which you want them to play.

You can control your presentations and playlists from another device, and audience members can view your slideshow on their devices by clicking a link.

SlideDog has a free presentation app version that provides all of the basic features.

However, live sharing and premium support are only available with a Pro account that costs US$99 per year, and not via the free version alone.

While SlideDog is technically considered presentation software, you can’t actually create presentations on it.

You can simply stitch together different pre-made presentations in various formats into what is essentially a playlist.

Lastly, SlideDog supports only Windows devices, so Apple and Linux users can’t use it.

  • Supports a lot of different media
  • Provides live-sharing
  • More dynamic compared to the usual slideshow presentation
  • Only collates media; doesn’t create them

6. Haiku Deck

haiku deck, presentation software example

Ever come across presentations with size-eight fonts and blocks of indecipherable paragraphs on each slide?

You can avoid such an unfortunate scenario with Haiku Deck.

HaikuDeck is a web and mobile application that favors images over text.

It works by limiting the number of words users can put on each slide, and allowing them to search for images on their platform related to the slide’s main idea.

This makes it ideal for those who want to simplify their thoughts and let the images do all the talking.

Users have over 40 million royalty-free photos to choose from, plus dozens of simple slide layouts on the platform itself.

While this certainly simplifies the process of creating a visually rich presentation, it can be limiting for those who need to include more information into their slides.

It’s a great option for someone giving a TED Talk, for example.

But for others who need to pass on more facts and figures, having a built-in word limit might be too restrictive.

  • Simple and easy to use
  • Access to millions of royalty-free stock images
  • May be too simple for some
  • No Android support
  • Limited features

7. Prezi Business

prezi business, business presentation software

Among the other presentation software on this list, Prezi Business might be one of the most unique presentation tools.

Rather than offering a regular slideshow format, Prezi looks more like a 3D interactive mind map where viewers jump dynamically from one idea to the next.

You can zoom in on one “slide” and then zoom out for the next.

Prezi has over 100 templates to choose from and comes with a very simple interface and a drag-and-drop style of editing.

It’s compatible with both Mac and PC desktops as well as smartphones.

It’s also similar to a regular PowerPoint deck in that you can jump back and forth from one “slide” to the next.

And like SlideDog, you can send viewers the link to the presentation as you’re presenting.

Also, up to 10 people can work on a Prezi presentation at the same time, one of its main selling points.

This is great for collaboration, but having so many hands-on deck at once can get messy.

  • Dynamic and immersive presentations
  • Highly visual
  • Easy to use
  • May not be appropriate for all types of presentations

screenshot of ludus presentation software

In a world of slides and presentations, standing out is the key. Ludus brings the flair of graphic design into the world of presentations.

At its core, Ludus is the bridge between presentation tools and design software. It enables users to infuse their slides with the kind of design elements you’d typically find in advanced design platforms.

Not only can you import assets from design giants like Adobe, but its seamless integration with tools like Unsplash and Giphy makes sourcing visuals a breeze.

It’s a fairly affordable tool for all its features compared to the other paid options in this list, as users pay 12.49 euros monthly (if billed annually).

However, while Ludus’ robust design capabilities can elevate the look of your presentation, those unfamiliar with design tools might find there’s a learning curve.

  • Merges presentation creation with advanced design tools.
  • Seamless integration with popular design platforms and visual databases.
  • Offers a unique edge in presentation aesthetics.
  • Might be a tad overwhelming for non-designers
  • Can have a steeper learning curve for those used to more straightforward platforms

9. Slidebean

screenshot of slidebean presentation software

Crafting a compelling presentation demands not only compelling content but also a design that can captivate your audience. Enter Slidebean.

Slidebean offers an intelligent design solution, using AI to transform raw content into professionally styled presentations. This platform streamlines the design process, allowing you to focus on the message rather than fretting over aesthetics.

The basic plan is free and allows you to create a presentation. But if you want to share or download your presentations, as well as unlock the full suite of features, you’ll need to sign up for the All-Access plan priced at $199 per year.

While it provides a quick and efficient method to produce polished slides, it also offers features for sharing, collaboration, and viewer analytics, adding an edge to your presentation strategy.

However, for professionals who prioritize granular design control, the automated design might feel limiting at times.

  • AI-driven design ensures visually appealing presentations.
  • Features for collaboration and viewer insights.
  • Efficient design process reduces time and effort.
  • Might not offer the detailed design customization some users desire.
  • Automated choices may not always align with specific branding or style preferences.

10. ClearSlide

screenshot of clearslide presentation software

Having great visuals to drive your point home can be the difference between getting a sale across the line or customers walking away. ClearSlide stands out in this area as a presentation tool for businesses laser-focused on boosting their sales and marketing game.

At its core, ClearSlide is all about leveling up business presentations. Whether you’re marketing a new product or tracking client engagement, it’s got tools that cater to every need.

Whether it’s a PowerPoint, a PDF, or something from Google Drive or Dropbox, ClearSlide makes it simple to upload and work with these files.

The unique edge? ClearSlide’s virtual meeting space pops open with just a click. It’s all about seamless, professional presentations without the hassle.

Beyond just slides, the platform dives deep into metrics and analytics, ensuring every presentation is backed by data-driven insights. And the tool is available for $35 per month, which isn’t too pricey for medium-sized businesses.

However, its complexity isn’t for everyone. For some, the variety of features might seem a tad overwhelming, and its focus on metrics might be a bit much for those just wanting a basic presentation tool.

  • Seamless virtual meetings and presentations
  • Integrates with popular platforms
  • Offers insightful analytics for sales and marketing
  • Might feel complex for some users
  • Limited transition and design effects
  • Mobile experience could be better

screenshot of vyond presentation software

Stepping into the world of animation, Vyond, once known as GoAnimate, allows users to turn their narratives into professional animated videos. For those looking to elevate their content without diving deep into animation complexities, Vyond can be the go-to tool.

This platform is more than just drag-and-drop animations. It integrates AI capabilities with Vyond Go, which transforms text prompts into rough-cut videos.

Fancy a quick draft for your upcoming project? This AI assistant is up for the task. And if perfection is your game, take it to Vyond Studio, filled with an array of characters, templates, and backgrounds.

The Essential Plan at $25 per month is suitable for individuals on a budget. However, if you want to export videos at 1080p and above, have collaboration tools, or different export options, you’ll need to sign up for the Professional Plan at $92 per month.

As robust as the tool is, there are still some kinks to iron out. AI voiceovers might still need some tweaks, and detailed color customizations can be a bit tricky, but the tool’s strengths, especially for businesses, are undeniable.

  • Hassle-free video creation for beginners to experts
  • Generous library of pre-made assets
  • AI-powered video and script creation with Vyond Go
  • AI voiceovers might feel a bit robotic
  • Some customization limitations for specific props and scenes

The best presentation software is…

 …completely up to you!

When it comes to presentation software, the world is your oyster.

Each of these tools either has a free or trial version for you to check out, so you don’t have to commit just yet.

When it’s time to choose, consider the following aspects to find the right presentation software for you:

  • Ease of use. Is it easy for you to understand or will it require lots of training before you can start creating presentations?
  • Accessibility. Can you access your presentation software from any device or are you limited to carrying your laptop to every presentation?
  • Real-time collaboration. Can multiple people work on the same project or do you have to keep downloading and emailing drafts?
  • Create design tools. Can you create presentations with dynamic design elements or are you stuck with the same kind of slide each time?
  • Template availability. Is this tool only accessible to a design professional or can anyone create stunning presentations through pre-designed and updated templates?
Piktochart , for example, would be a fantastic presentation software choice among the long list of PowerPoint alternatives for teams looking for a variety of eye-catching designs without requiring much technical know-how. Meanwhile, Microsoft PowerPoint might be the best presentation software for those who are just looking to play it safe.

Hopefully, this best presentation software list sheds some light on the tools at your disposal. Choose wisely!
