I Love You Idiot Movie Review: ప్ర‌స్తుతం తెలుగులో మోస్ట్ బిజీయోస్ట్ హీరోయిన్‌గా కొన‌సాగుతోంది శ్రీలీల‌ (Sreeleela). పెళ్లి సంద‌డితో టాలీవుడ్‌లోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన ఆమె ఎనిమిది సినిమాల్లో న‌టిస్తోంది. టాలీవుడ్ కంటే ముందు క‌న్న‌డంలో కిస్ అనే సినిమా చేసింది.

ఈ మూవీని ఐ ల‌వ్ యూ ఇడియ‌ట్ పేరుతో తెలుగులోకి డ‌బ్ చేశారు. విరాట్ హీరోగా న‌టించిన ఈ సినిమాకు ఏపీ అర్జున్ ద‌ర్శ‌క‌త్వం వ‌హించాడు. రొమాంటిక్ ల‌వ్ ఎంట‌ర్‌టైన‌ర్‌గా రూపొందిన ఈ సినిమా ఆహా ఓటీటీలో (Aha OTT) రిలీజైంది. శ్రీలీల డెబ్యూ మూవీ అయిన ఐ ల‌వ్ యూ ఇడియ‌ట్ ఎలా ఉందంటే...

నందిని అల్ల‌రి...

నందిని (శ్రీలీల‌) ఆర్కిటెక్చ‌ర్ స్టూడెంట్‌. ఎప్పుడూ ప‌గ‌టి క‌ల‌ల్లో మునిగితేలుతుంటుంది. కాలేజీ ప్రిన్సిపాల్‌పై కోపంతో నందిని చేసిన ఓ ప‌ని కార‌ణంగా అర్జున్ (విరాట్‌) అనే డ‌బ్బున్న యువకుడి కాస్ట్‌లీ కారు డ్యామేజీ అవుతుంది. ఆ కారు రిపేర్‌కు డ‌బ్బులు చెల్లించ‌డానికి బ‌దులు అర్జున్ ద‌గ్గ‌ర 72 రోజుల పాటు అసిస్టెంట్‌గా ప‌నిచేయ‌డానికి సిద్ధ‌ప‌డుతుంది నందిని.

తొలుత అర్జున్‌ను ద్వేషించిన నందిని అత‌డి మంచిత‌నాన్ని గ్ర‌హించి ఇష్ట‌ప‌డుతుంది. త‌న ప్రేమ‌ను అత‌డికి వ్య‌క్తం చేయాల‌ని అనుకుంటుంది. అర్జున్ త‌న‌ను ప్రేమించ‌డం లేద‌ని తెలుసుకొని ఆ మాట చెప్ప‌కుండానే అత‌డి నుంచి దూరంగా వెళ్లిపోతుంది. నందిని దూర‌మైన త‌ర్వాతే ఆమె ప్రేమ విలువ అర్జున్‌కు అర్థ‌మ‌వుతుంది.

ప్రేమికుల మ‌ధ్య గిల్లిక‌జ్జాలు, అపోహ‌లు, అపార్థాలు అన్న‌ది ఎవ‌ర్‌గ్రీన్ ఫార్ములా. కాలానికి అనుగుణంగా ల‌వ్ స్టోరీస్‌ను స్క్రీన్‌పై ప్ర‌జెంట్ చేసే తీరు మారింది త‌ప్పితే ఈ పాయింట్ మాత్రం అవుట్‌డేటేడ్ కాలేదు. వారినికో ల‌వ్‌స్టోరీ రిలీజ్ అవుతూ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని మెప్పిస్తూనే ఉన్నాయి.

ఐ ల‌వ్ యూ ఇడియ‌ట్ (I Love You Idiot Movie Review)అలాంటి క‌థే. ఓ జంట ప్రేమ‌ప్ర‌యాణానికి ఫ‌న్‌, ఎమోష‌న్స్ జోడిస్తూ ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు ఏపీ అర్జున్ ఈ సినిమాను తెర‌కెక్కించారు. ఫ‌స్ట్ హాఫ్ హీరోయిన్ పాయింట్ ఆఫ్ వ్యూ నుంచి ల‌వ్‌స్టోరీ సాగితే ద్వితీయార్థంలో మాత్రం హీరో కోణం నుంచి ల‌వ్ స్టోరీ న‌డుస్తుంది. ఒక‌రి ప్రేమ కోసం మ‌రొక‌రు ఎలా త‌పించారు? త‌మ ప్రేమ‌ను ఎలా గెలిపించుకున్నార‌న్న‌దే ఈ సినిమాలోని మెయిన్ పాయింట్‌.

ప్రేమ‌క‌థ‌ల‌న్నీ దాదాపు ఒకే పాయింట్‌తో సాగుతాయి. వాటిని వెండితెర‌పై ఆవిష్క‌రించే తీరు కొత్త‌గా ఉన్న‌ప్పుడే ఈ ల‌వ్‌స్టోరీస్ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని మెప్పిస్తాయి. ఐ ల‌వ్ యూ ఇడియ‌ట్‌లో హీరోహీరోయిన్లు విరాట్‌, శ్రీలీల జోడీ బాగుంది. వారి కెమిస్ట్రీ బాగా కుదిరింది.

వారి ల‌వ్ స్టోరీలోని ఫ‌న్ కొన్ని చోట్ల వ‌ర్క‌వుట్ అయినా క‌థ‌లోని మెయిన్ కాన్‌ఫ్లిక్ట్‌లో విష‌యం లేదు. నాయ‌కానాయిక‌లు విడిపోవ‌డానికి గ‌ల కార‌ణాలు సిల్లీగా ఉంటాయి. నందిని ప్రేమ‌ను సొంతం చేసుకునేందుకు అర్జున్ చేసే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాలు సోల్ మిస్స‌య్యింది. డైలీ సీరియ‌ల్‌గా సాగ‌దీస్తూనే వెళ్లాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌.

శ్రీలీల ప్ల‌స్‌...

అల్ల‌రి మ‌న‌స్త‌త్వం క‌లిగిన అమ్మాయిగా శ్రీలీల త‌న అందంతో ఫుల్ మార్కులు కొట్టేసింది. ఈ సినిమాలో అంద‌రికంటే ఎక్కువ‌గా శ్రీలీల పాత్ర ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని అట్రాక్ట్ చేస్తుంది. విరాట్ యాక్టింగ్‌లో నాచురాలిటీ లేదు. కామెడీ వ‌ర‌కు బాగానే చేసిన ఎమోష‌న‌ల్ సీన్స్‌లో పూర్తిగా తేలిపోయాడు. ఈ ఇద్ద‌రి త‌ప్ప మిగిలిన క్యారెక్ట‌ర్స్ అలా వ‌చ్చి ఇలా వెళ్లిపోతాయి.

I Love You: What Works?

I Love You is the story of a psychopath lover, Rakesh Oberoi (Pavail Gulati), who is ready to destroy everything in order to receive the same love from Satya (Rakul Preet). These kinds of fiction might be available to watch online, but the makers have created the movie in such a distinguish manner that it will keep you hooked.

The unexpected change of the plot from the time when Rakesh abducts Satya in the office will definitely blow your mind away. To offer us the most exhilarating experience possible, several situations are meticulously planned and blocked in a small area. Director Nikhil deserves praise for crafting a gripping tale with accuracy in both intent and execution.

I Love You: What Doesn't Work?

More time should have been spent discovering the backstories of the main characters. Sometimes, the unneeded drama is vital to keep the plot moving. The film is only 90 minutes long, but it feels longer because of the two main characters' constant movement from one spot to another, one for survival and the other for hunting.

I Love You: Cast Performances

It is admirable that Rakul Preet chose a role that is very different from whatever she has played in her previous films. Rakul makes the most of her potential to show herself as a respectable performer in such a challenging area.

I want to give a particular mention to Pavail Gulati. He well grasped his role and played the part of a psycopath lover to the highest degree of perfection.

I Love You: Final Verdict

I thought everything about the movie, including the great performances by Rakul and Pavail and the complete star ensemble, was flawless. The title of the film could have been more appropriate given that it didn't fit the plot; instead, I would suggest making it more thrilling.

'Love Me If You Dare' Review: Complex And Confusing

Horror films always hold an edge at the box office performance. Even with slight positive feedback, they tend to do well in the end. Dil Raju's family hero, Ashish Reddy, has come up with one such film. Additionally, when 'Baby' fame Vaishnavi Chaitanya plays the lead role, it is obviously a pulling factor for a set of younger audiences.

Let us see if this film fulfilled the expectations of the audience.

Story: Arjun (Ashish) is a YouTuber who is always on a quest to uncover the truth behind unsolved mysteries and often does things against others' warnings. 

He discovers the existence of a ghost named Divyavathi in a deserted apartment who is known for causing the deaths of anyone who approaches her. 

Despite the danger, Arjun falls in love with this ghost and embarks on a journey to uncover Divyavathi's past by encountering numerous surprises along the way. 

Who exactly is Divyavathi? What events led to her current state? The crux of the film is how do Prathap (Ravi Krishna) and Priya (Vaishnavi Chaitanya) help Arjun in his quest to solve the mystery of Divyavathi? 

Artistes’ Performances: Ashish Reddy did his part as the protagonist, but his character and characterization didn't provide any opportunity to showcase his talent. It appears that any debutante could have played this role. For Ashish, who is striving to establish himself as an eligible hero, he should choose something different.

Vaishnavi Chaitanya is pleasing to watch. She has glamour, a natural photogenic appeal, and the ability to deliver subtle expressions, which she already proved with her previous film. Moreover, she has a unique physical appearance that suits characters of any age group. She makes an impact with her appearance.

Simran Choudhary played a never-before-seen character, a professional in skull reconstruction.

Ravi Krishna played another important role in the film, while Rajeev Kanakala appeared in a brief guest role.

Technical Excellence: The background score by MM Keeravani is good and perfectly in sync with the requirements of this film. However, the songs are poor and have no gripping appeal.

PC Sreeram's cinematography added significant value, and the production values are also good. But what is lacking is a proper script and a convincing flow.

Highlights: Nothing in specific

Drawbacks: Confusing narration Poor screenplay Contrived elements No gripping moments

Analysis: Horror films generally fall into two categories: serious horror thrillers and horror comedies. This film is neither. There is no room for comedy in this film, nor does it follow the path of a serious horror thriller.

Though the director tried to create something unique, he couldn't deliver the desired output, as the audience fails to connect with the narrative flow. The basic idea of the protagonist falling in love with a ghost is interesting, but this concept was recently explored in 'Om Bheem Bush' within the comedy-horror genre. Thus, the novelty in the concept cannot be felt here.

The narrative is not convincing but confusing. With too many female characters being introduced while trying to identify the ghost, the plot becomes irritating rather than mind-bending. The contrived elements in the script highlight a lack of creativity. Though the identity of the actual ghost is revealed at the end, along with a cold opening for a sequel, the emotion of the female protagonist fails to connect with the audience.

There is a line in the film that goes, "baadha em nerpinchadaaniki vacchindo adi nerpinchakunda podhu." Though this line is heard twice in the narrative, its real essence is not conveyed well.

It is shocking to see this kind of film from Dil Raju's production, especially featuring a hero from his own family who is struggling to establish himself in the industry.

Overall, this film disappoints horror film lovers. Even the young audience who admire the looks and performance of Vaishnavi Chaitanya will not feel fulfilled watching this film.

After a bumpy ride, the sequel is announced with the title "Kill me if you love." So, let us brace for the impact.

కథలోకి వెళ్తే, అర్జున్ (ఆశిష్) ఒక యూట్యూబర్. దెయ్యాలు, భూతాలు అనేవి లేవని.. అవి కేవలం మన భ్రమలని తెలియజేస్తూ, మూఢనమ్మకాలని పారద్రోలే విధంగా వీడియోలు చేసి ఫాలోయింగ్ ని పెంచుకుంటాడు. 

ఆ క్రమంలో దివ్యవతి అనే ఒక దెయ్యం ఒక మారుమూల పాడుబడ్డ బిల్డింగులో ఉంటోందని, అటుగా వెళ్లిన వారిని ఎవరినైనా చంపేస్తోందని తెలిసి, ఆ మిస్టరీని ఛేదించడానికి బయలుదేరతాడు. అనుకోకుండా ఆ దెయ్యాన్ని చూడకుండానే ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. ఇంతకీ ఎవరా దివ్యవతి? ఆమె ఆచూకీని, నేపథ్యాన్ని కనుగొనేందుకు అర్జున్ కి అతని మిత్రుడు ప్రతాప్ (రవి కృష్ణ), ప్రియ (వైష్ణవి చైతన్య) ఎలా సహాయపడతారనేది తక్కిన కథ. 

దెయ్యంతో ప్రేమలో పడడం అనేది నిజానికి రెండు నెలల క్రితం వరకు కొత్త కాన్సెప్టే. కానీ తాజాగా “ఓం భీం బుష్” చూసేయడం వల్ల అది పాత కాన్సెప్ట్ అయిపోయింది. పోనీ కథనం భయం గొలిపేలా ఉందా అంటే బిల్డప్పులు, కాస్తంత బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ గిమ్మిక్కులు తప్ప కథగా కనెక్ట్ అవడానికి డెప్త్ లేదిందులో. 

పైగా దెయ్యం అని చెప్పిన తర్వాత ఆ రూపాన్ని అందంగా బొడ్డు కిందకి చీర కట్టి కవ్విస్తూ పాట పెడితే ఇక భయమెందుకుంటుంది? దానికి తోడు అస్సలు కన్విన్సింగ్ గా లేని ఎపిసోడ్స్ ఈ కథని కనెక్ట్ అవకుండా చేస్తాయి. సమాధిలోంచి పుర్రెల్ని తవ్వుకురావడం, రీకన్స్ట్రక్షన్ పేరుతో ఆ కపాలాలకి రూపాన్నిచ్చి దివ్యవతి ఆచూకి కనుక్కోవడం వంటివి ఓవర్ గా ఉన్నాయి. 

హీరోతో గానీ, హీరోయిన్ తో గానీ ఎమోషనల్ గా కనెక్టయ్యి జర్నీ చేసే విధంగా లేదు ప్రేక్షకుడికి. అదే కథనపరంగా పెద్ద మైనస్. ఇక అక్కర్లేని పాత్రలన్నీ పెట్టి కథని మరీ కాంప్లికేట్ చేసి కథనాన్ని పట్టాలు తప్పించేసాడు దర్శకుడు. ఒక్క చోట కూడా థ్రిల్ ఫీలవడానికి గానీ, ఉత్కంఠకు గురికావడానికి కానీ అవకాశం లేదు. 

ఒక పాత్ర తన ఐడెంటిటీని మార్చుకోవడానికి అప్పటికప్పుడు ఫ్రెష్ శవాలు ఎలా దొరుకుతాయో అర్ధం కాదు. ఇలాంటి లూజ్ ఎండ్స్ అనేకమున్నాయి ఇందులో. 

పేరున్న నిర్మాత కుటుంబానికి చెందిన హీరో అని, తాజా సూపర్ హిట్ సినిమాకి చెందిన హీరోయిన్ తో కాంబినేషన్ అని, దానికి తోడు హారర్ కథాంశమని ఆసక్తిని, అంచనాల్ని పెంచుకుని వెళ్లినవాళ్లని షాక్ కి గురి చేసే చిత్రమిది. దిల్ రాజు బ్యానర్ మీద సొంత ఫ్యామిలీ హీరోతో సినిమా తీయడానికి ఇంతకంటే మంచి కథ దొరకలేదా? 

చూసేటప్పుడే ఇంత గందరగోళంగా ఉంటే కథగా చెప్పేటప్పుడు ఏం చెప్పి ఒప్పించి ఉండొచ్చు దర్శకుడు? ఈ ప్రశ్న ఆల్మోస్ట్ ప్రతి క్రిటిక్ మైండుని కుదిపేసి ఉండాలి. 

ఎందుకంటే ఇది పూర్తి స్థాయి హారర్ చిత్రమూ కాదు, అలాగని హారర్ కామెడీ అంతకన్నా కాదు. నవ్వుకోవడానికి, భయపడడానికి అసలు విషయమే లేకుందా ఉంది. పైగా ఇది చాలదన్నట్టు సినిమా చివర్లో “కిల్ మీ ఇఫ్ యు లవ్” అంటూ సీక్వెల్ కి ప్రకటన కూడా జరిగిపోయింది. ఎంత నమ్మకముంటే దర్శకనిర్మాతలు సీక్వెల్ కి ఒడిగడతారు! 

టైటిల్ కింద “ఇఫ్ యు డేర్” అనే దాంట్లోని అర్ధం సినిమా చూసాక కానీ అర్ధం కాదు. కాస్తంత భయపడదామని ధైర్యం చేసి వెళ్లినందుకు మెదడుకి మేత టైపులో నాలుగైదు స్త్రీ పాత్రలతో సెకండాఫంతా అయోమయానికి గురికావడం తప్ప ఏమీ మిగల్లేదు. 

ఆశిష్ రెడ్డి తనకొచ్చింది చేసుకుపోయాడు తప్ప తనలోని నటనా ప్రతిభని వెలికితీసే అవకాశమేమీ దర్శకుడు కలిపించలేదు. ఇప్పుడున్న కాంపిటీషన్లో చొచ్చుకెళ్లి తనను తాను ప్రూవ్ చేసుకోవాలంటే తన ట్యాలెంట్ ని నిరూపించుకునే స్కోప్ ఉన్న చిత్రాలు ఎంచుకోవాలి. 

వైష్ణవి చైతన్య చూడడానికి బాగుంది. ఏ వయసు పాత్రలోనైనా ఒదిగిపోయే ఆంగికం ఆమెది. కానీ ఈ చిత్రం ఆమె కెరీర్ కి ఉపయోగపడేలా లేదు. 

రవి కృష్ణ ఓకే. రాజీవ్ కనకాలది అతిథి పాత్ర. ఇతర నటీనటులు పర్వాలేదు. 

కీరవాణి బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ బాగుంది కానీ పాటల విషయంలో నిరాశపరిచారు. పీసీ శ్రీరాం కెమెరా వర్క్ బాగుంది. ఆర్ట్ డైరెక్షన్ కూడా బాగుంది. ఎన్ని బాగున్నా సినిమాకి ఆత్మ అయిన కథా కథనాలే బలంగా లేవు. అందుకే మొదటికే మోసమొచ్చినట్టయ్యింది. 

“బాధ ఏం నేర్పించడానికి వచ్చిందో అది నేర్పించకుండా పోదు” అనే డైలాగొకటుంది. కథలో ఎవరి బాధ ఏమిటో, ఎవరు ఏం నేర్చుకున్నారో ప్రేక్షకుడి మనసుకి అందదు. 

ప్రేక్షకుల్ని మాత్రం బాధపెట్టి “బ్యానర్ పేరు, హీరోయిన్ ఫేం చూసి అంచనాలు పెంచుకోకూడదు” అనే సూత్రాన్ని నేర్పించింది ఈ సినిమా.

దర్శక నిర్మాతలకి ఏం నేర్పించిందో వారికే తెలియాలి.

The eerie setting and storyline of “Love Me – If You Dare” hint at a blend of romance set against a backdrop of horror. The film is releasing on May 25th in India,and on May 24th in USA.

In the rural village of Ramachandrapuram, villagers hear screams at night from an abandoned bungalow. A woman in the Bungalow dies, leaving her daughter as the lead character.

Arjun, Pratap, and Priya are YouTube content creators. Arjun seeks to uncover the whereabouts of Divyavathi. The rest of the story follows what Arjun discovers in the process.

The presence of renowned figures in the film’s production has sparked significant interest among the audience. Initially set in a rural backdrop, the movie transitions into an urban, contemporary narrative. However, the execution of the rural segments falls flat, with certain scenes, like the woman screaming nightly and self-immolating, coming across as immature.

Simultaneously, the director introduces the protagonist and their friends as part of a YouTube channel, exploring dark themes. While the concept of the protagonist falling in love with a ghost seems unconventional, its success hinges on solid reasoning or presentation. Unfortunately, the film’s peculiar ideas are undermined by confusing and unengaging storytelling.

Despite the involvement of notable talents such as Baby heroine Vaishnavi Chaitanya, M.M. Keeravani as the music director, and the skilled cinematographer PC Sriram, the film lacks compelling songs and fails to capitalize on its technical prowess. Ultimately, Director Arun’s storytelling abilities seem lacking, contributing to the film’s shortcomings despite its promising elements and talented crew.

Performances:

The main characters in this film are played by small time actors. Ashrith, Ravikrishna and Vaishnavi are adequate.

Weaknesses:

• Weak storyline
• Confusing direction
• Lack of suspense

Dil Raju Production’s “Love Me” is easily the worst movie in the recent years. It fails to meet even minimal standards. The main issue is the confusing direction – we bet that if the director watched the film as an audience member, he too would be confused by what he directed.

The dynamic duo, Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar, have reunited for Mr. Bachchan, which hit theaters today amidst high expectations. Without further ado, dive into our review to see how it fares.

Anand, aka Bachchan (Ravi Teja), is a straight-laced income tax officer suspended due to his unwavering honesty. Upon returning to his hometown, he falls in love with Jikki (Bhagyashree Borse), who soon reciprocates his feelings. Just as things start looking up, Bachchan is reinstated and tasked with raiding the home of a powerful local figure, Mutyam Jaggaiah (Jagapathi Babu). What follows is a daring mission that tests Bachchan’s resolve, revealing unexpected challenges and twists.

Positive Points:

When Mr. Bachchan was announced, many doubted the idea of remaking the hit film Raid. However, Harish Shankar manages to surprise by keeping the essence of the original while tailoring the story to suit Telugu audiences.

Ravi Teja shines in a role that seems custom-made for him. As the determined IT officer and the romantic lead with a deep admiration for legends like Kishore Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, he delivers a performance full of energy and charm. His on-screen chemistry with Bhagyashree Borse is delightful and adds a refreshing touch to the narrative.

Bhagyashree Borse is a standout in her role, bringing both glamour and emotion to the screen. Her performance is bound to catch the attention of many in Tollywood. Jagapathi Babu, too, leaves an impression, particularly in his intense exchanges with Ravi Teja. The rest of the cast did their part well.

The film’s comedy, led by Satya, hits the mark, and Mickey J Meyer’s soundtrack adds vibrancy, particularly in the lively and massy songs. The use of retro music during romantic scenes offers a nostalgic feel that fans of Amitabh Bachchan and Kishore Kumar will appreciate.

Minus Points:

Harish Shankar successfully blends elements like romance, action, comedy, and punchy dialogues to entertain mass audiences, particularly in the first half. However, the second half loses its way, straying from the main plot and introducing unnecessary comedy that dilutes the film’s impact. The absence of the same level of intensity and mass appeal that was present in the first half is noticeable.

While Bhagyashree Borse excels in her role, she is underutilised in the second half, with limited screen time that doesn’t do justice to her character. Jagapathi Babu’s character, initially portrayed as a formidable antagonist, fades in the second half, losing the impact built up earlier in the film.

The climax, unfortunately, feels outdated and implausible, even within the mass-entertainment genre. A more meaningful approach to the climax fight could have enhanced the film’s appeal.

Technical Aspects:

As a director, Harish Shankar does well in balancing mass elements with comedy and romance in the first half, but the second half’s pacing and coherence could have been stronger. As a writer, he could have focused more on refining the second half, but when it comes to crafting punch dialogues, he excels.

Cinematographer Ayananka Bose captures the film beautifully, especially during the song sequences. Editor Ujwal Kulkarni could have tightened the second half by cutting unnecessary scenes. Mickey J Meyer’s music stands out, offering a mix of energetic tracks that elevate the film. The production values are solid, and the art department’s efforts to create a retro vibe, particularly in the first half, are commendable.

On the whole, Mr. Bachchan has its moments but caters primarily to mass audiences. Ravi Teja and Jagapathi Babu deliver decent performances, and Bhagyashri Bose adds a touch of glamour, but the second half falls short due to unnecessary comedy and pacing issues. If you’re a fan of Raid, the original movie that inspired Mr. Bachchan, it’s best to temper your expectations.

I Love You review: Rakul Preet Singh and Pavail Gulati's 'stalking drama' fails in paying ode to 90s' Shah Rukh Khan

In the same way that the phrase "I Love You" has become diluted and meaningless in modern culture, so too has this film.

Satya (Rakul Preet Singh) is a top executive at a major company, and she and her fiance, Vishal (Akshay Oberoi), have big hopes for the future. On the eve of her trip to Delhi, Satya becomes stranded in the office building. Which threats does she face?

When I heard the title of the film, I Love You , for the first time, it reminded me of the Dumb Charades game in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai . Remember when Anjali (Sana Saeed) gives "I Love You" as a clue to her dad Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan)? He refuses to believe there's a movie title like that. Well, finally there is, after 25 years, and in today's times, it fits the bill. It's not a love story, but a thriller wrapped like pigs in a blanket.

The film is just one hour and 35 minutes long because there's not much to offer, to be honest. The age-old stalking drama that set Shah Rukh's career back in the 90s is brought back with a high-tech twist. Yes, mentioning him here is important because the film is definitely an ode to him and has songs by the superstar playing in the background throughout.

I Love You starts with Satya (Rakul Preet Singh) getting engaged in her office with her colleague and beau, Vishal (Akshay Oberoi). It's set against the backdrop of Diwali, and the whole office is going on leave, including the newly engaged couple. However, superficially, a huge building has only one man working with the security system, and that's Rakesh, aka RO (Pavail Gulati). There comes the too-good-to-be-true downfall. In no time, we see even the security guard locking the office and leaving to have dinner without any backup.

Yes, there's no indication of what the company is about or what these employees are up to. However, we are in a make-believe world, too, in Mumbai, where a building ends up looking stranded after a point in time.

Satya is left alone in the building, which doesn't have any other souls, and she calls RO for help. Ah, yes, of course, he is the brainchild behind getting her trapped. All this happens in the first 20–25 minutes of the film, and the rest of the plot is just a survival thriller set in just one location. Even if the film is about 90 minutes long, it's just a drag where the lead characters run from one place to another while one is an attacker and the other is an escaper.

Although it's a film with a short runtime, there could be more time invested in learning about the backstories of the lead actors. Sometimes, the unnecessary drama is important to keep up with the story and not make it something we know where it's heading.

Now that Black Mirror is out, I Love You seems like a 144-p version of one of its episodes, where an app gives you an easier hand in stalking someone by making your wall and ceiling the live stream of your stalkee's home. Yeah, full-on creep alert, as it's meant to be. However, it just gets funnier and not scary like SRK made us feel with his menacing eyes and devilish grin.

Well, the comparison is definitely unfair, but given that the film is an ode to the superstar, the inspiration for the stalker is quite uninspiring and amateur. What makes it feel so is mainly that there's no backstory and a very caricaturish performance.

Rakul Preet Singh, as the one who is getting stalked, tries to shoulder the film at full stretch, but the uneven performance of going from stressful times to having a smirk and also singing with her stalker on Tu Mere Saamne from Darr just doesn't land properly. The film was shot in quick succession, with many things happening at once, including showing her underwater and also using weapons. But all this doesn't work where those are just elements that are resourceful in a limited way.

On the other hand, Pavail Gulati as the stalker RO gives those vibes instantly, and his actions are enough to show what he is up to. There's nothing to predict as the film is linear, but not his performance. Pavail does give off weak vibes as an actor, and yes, the script is to blame to some extent. What more can you show as a stalker if there's nothing more to offer other than just expressive love and axing people around?

Nikhil Mahajan, who has written and directed the film, has previously helmed movies in Marathi. The filmmaker just took the opportunity to shoot an intense film that is a tribute to stalker-based movies but totally uninspired.

Just like how "I Love You" has lost its meaning in so many ways in this era, the film is also lost in translation and totally underwhelming.

Love Me Story: Arjun (Ashish) is a YouTuber known for seeking answers to unsolved mysteries and doing the very things people warn him against. He discovers a ghost named Divyavathi, rumored to have caused the deaths of anyone who approaches her. Despite the danger, Arjun falls in love with Divyavathi and delves into her past. The moment he does, things unravel on a crazy note. To know what happened and how the character of Vaishnavi Chaitanya is involved in all this, go watch the film.

Performances: This is Ashish Reddy’s second film as a lead actor. He appears handsome in the role of Arjun and demonstrates a mature performance, especially in the emotional climax scenes. Vaishnavi Chaitanya, known for her work in ‘Baby, ‘ delivers an acceptable performance as Priya. Ravikrishna’s role does not offer the same scope for showcasing his talent as in ‘ Virupaksha ,’ but he performs well within the given constraints. The rest of the cast also delivers satisfactory performances.

Technical Aspects: Given the weak writing, the music department could only do so much. The artwork is superb, and the visuals by P.C. Sreeram are top-notch, making the movie visually splendid. Keeravani ’s background score is decent, though the songs are bad. Credit goes to the legendary cinematographer for the fantastic visuals. The CGI is satisfactory. The editing is below par and the dialogues are a bit over the top.

Analysis: Love Me – If You Dare explores these fears and the illusions within us. Director Arun Bheemavarapu adds a horror twist to this theme. His story has substance, but the narrative is confusing. The characters, particularly the hero and heroine, are meticulously detailed, from the hero’s black attire to his barefoot wandering.

These details are intended to add depth and twists, but the rest of the plot is hard to follow. The film is filled with questions that lead to more questions, creating a sense of confusion. The second half drags significantly, and while the film starts off exciting, execution issues arise.

The identity of the ghost post-interval is particularly perplexing. However, the ending is strong, hinting at a sequel. Love Me stands out as a unique horror thriller amidst conventional commercial films. The concept is intriguing, but the narration is bad and takes the film down in no time.

Verdict: Overall, Love Me is a stylish film with great visuals and interesting points. However, the presentation and thrills do not impress, and the film ultimately becomes very confusing.

Bottom Line – Confusing and silly
