University Degrees, Careers and Distinguished Degrees in The Sims 4: Discover University explained

The new world of Britechester introduced in the pack is a traditional college town that is home to two centres of higher learning, alike in dignity but with very different histories, aesthetics, and expertise.

University of Britechester is a venerable institution specialising in the arts and humanities, while Foxbury Institute is a newer but no less prestigious seat of learning with a particular focus on science and technology.

In Discover University there are thirteen degrees to choose from. Both University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute offer all thirteen subjects to study, but with their respective specialisms in arts and sciences, there are differences between the quality of the degrees on offer.

The degrees particularly associated with each school's specialisms are known as 'distinguished degrees'. While earning a degree from either institution will greatly benefit your Sim's career prospects, graduating with a distinguished degree will give your Sim an extra advantage.

However, distinguished degrees also carry higher entry requirements, and being accepted onto one is not guaranteed.

Each university also has three organisations that are only open to students at that institution. Choosing to join these student societies and attend their events confers benefits such as gaining extra credit for associated classes; increasing skill development; and unlocking unique social interactions, clothing and decorative items, and free skill-building objects.

The following outlines the degrees and organisations on offer at the two universities:

How to apply to and enrol in a university in The Sims 4

To apply to university, click on a computer and select 'University > Apply to Universities'. Your Sim's application will automatically be considered for all degree subjects by both University of Britechester and Foxbury Institute.

After one to two in-game days, your acceptance letter will arrive in your household mailbox, informing you of which degrees you have been accepted onto at each university. You can also check back in on your application status using the computer, which can potentially give you an earlier answer.

Once you have received news of your acceptance, you can enrol in university using the computer, mailbox, or cell phone.

How to choose a suitable University Degree to suit your Sim's skills and career in The Sims 4

Perhaps you already have a vocation in mind for your Sim: either because their Aspiration requires them to pursue a specific career, or just because you've got a story you want to tell for that particular character.

On the other hand, maybe you haven't decided everything about their future yet, but have an idea of what skills you'd like them to focus on. Or maybe you've already got your Sim's ideal degree subject in mind, but aren't sure what to do after graduation.

The table below shows every degree subject in Discover University alongside the skills it develops, and the careers it allows graduates improved access to.

Note: Careers listed under 'other packs' require you to have separately bought and installed the relevant add-on pack in order to access them after graduation. All core skills developed as part of a degree are from either the base game or Discover University. If you have other packs installed, elective (optional) classes are available upon enrollment for many skills added in those packs, which contribute grades and credit towards your degree.

Extracurricular career benefits

Keen-eyed Simmers may have noticed that there are three career branches from the base game that have no associated degree:

  • Athlete - Professional Athlete branch
  • Culinary - Mixologist branch
  • Tech Guru - eSports Gamer branch

However, budding Pro Athletes and eSports Gamers should still consider enrolling in university, as participating in the Soccer Team Player and E-Sports Competitor extracurricular activities will respectively provide the same benefits as a degree for these careers.

Your Sim just needs to be enrolled at either university studying any degree in order to access these activities, which can be joined by "Searching for Job" on a phone - they're under the After School Activity category, and basically function like a part-time job (but unpaid, of course).

Aspiring Mixologists hoping that there are similar non-academic benefits to university are, unfortunately, out of luck. It seems that in the world of The Sims 4, Mixology is the only career that's considered a full-time vocation and yet not at all an academic pursuit.

(Which is potentially a bit hurtful to all the professional bartenders out there... especially when even career criminals are having their dreams taken seriously.)

What are the benefits of getting a University Degree in The Sims 4?

After they graduate with a degree, embarking upon any of the associated careers listed above will allow your Sim to enjoy a series of perks, namely: higher pay; easier promotions thanks to increased performance; more vacation days; and a signing bonus (up to one per in-game week if you choose to change careers). If only the real-life graduate job market was this good.

Your graduate Sim will also have the opportunity to enter those careers at a higher level: in most cases, this means being able to choose a career branch straight away.

the sims 4 university

Ordinarily, in most careers a Sim would choose their branch somewhere between promotion levels 5-8, after working their way up from the generic entry level; but since degrees are branch-specific, having one allows you to start at the point where your education can begin to pay off immediately.

Note: Having a degree does not provide any career benefits for the following alternative money-making pursuits:

  • Part-time jobs from the base game (Babysitter, Barista, Fast Food Employee, Manual Labourer, Retail Employee) or the Island Living expansion pack (Diver, Fisherman, Lifeguard)
  • Sims who register as self-employed and/or sell items they've produced (e.g. paintings, harvested plants, etc.)
  • Sims who operate their own business (i.e. retail store from Get to Work, restaurant from Dine Out, or veterinary clinic from Cats and Dogs)
  • Sims who earn money via the Odd Jobs system introduced in Island Living .

Your Sim is still free to pursue these occupations after graduation, but won't receive any degree-related bonuses for doing so... except for the friends you made along the way and the lifetime of happy memories, of course.

What are the benefits of Distinguished Degrees and Honours Degrees in The Sims 4?

Whether or not your Sim got a distinguished degree and whether or not they graduated with honours (a final GPA of 3.9 or higher) determines the extent of their career bonuses.

There are some slight variations but, as a general rule, an ordinary degree without honours allows the graduate to begin a related career around level 6; an ordinary degree with honours, or a distinguished degree without honours, lets them start around level 7; and a distinguished degree with honours gives them the best opportunity, allowing them to jump right in at around level 8.

Other starting bonuses, such as pay and holidays, also enjoy accompanying increases.

How to get accepted onto a Distinguished Degree in The Sims 4

On the one hand, getting accepted into university in The Sims 4 is actually pretty easy: pay your seventy-five simoleon application fee, and your chances of acceptance are nigh-on guaranteed.

But, of course, there's a catch. You may have been accepted onto the ordinary degree courses offered at both institutions; but if you want to access each school's distinguished degrees and reap the greater benefits they offer, there are actual entry requirements beyond paying your application fees - which is something they don't tell you up front.

can't grade homework sims 4

To make matters worse, your rejection letter won't include any specific instructions, instead just advising you in vague terms to either accept a place on an 'undistinguished' degree, or else work on your skills and try again.

Hint: To avoid your Sim getting hit with the 'Undistinguished' moodlet (which will boost the Sad emotional state), ensure that they're likely to meet the criteria for acceptance onto at least one distinguished degree before applying to university.

can't grade homework sims 4

An obvious place to start is by improving the core skills associated with your chosen degree; however, things are not as straightforward as you might think. There are a lot of skills in The Sims 4, and proficiency in many of them will get your Sim some way closer to being accepted onto a distinguished degree.

Skill-based improvements to distinguished degree applications come in two varieties:

  • Base skills (which are often, but not always, the core skills for the degree itself), which provide growing benefits to the application as the skill increases. Work on building these skills to at least levels 3, 5, or 9 to enjoy ever greater improvements on your chances. Note: Due to being capped at level 5, the Photography skill will increase base skill improvements at levels 2, 3, and 5 instead.
  • Bonus skills (including several skills added in expansion/game packs other than Discover University), which provide a one-time boost once a low level (usually 3) is reached.

Progress towards a distinguished degree admission, including which skills are useful to improve, is hidden in-game and can't be tracked; so it's useful to plan ahead using a guide. For full details of which skills improve chances of acceptance onto distinguished degrees, see the table below:

The distinguished degree application is not awarded on a pass/fail basis, and therefore there's always an element of chance involved in getting accepted. Nevertheless, building your Sim's relevant skills to a high level dramatically improves the odds, to the point where you'd be very unlucky not to be accepted.

Hint: There's no denying that there are some odd omissions here: for example, why does the Guitar skill not improve a Fine Arts degree application, when all other musical instrument skills do - even the freaking Pipe Organ?!

Fear not: if your Sim has already put in their ten thousand hours perfecting the Guitar skill (or on nearly any other skill that doesn't directly affect distinguished degrees, such as Fishing or Video Gaming), you can still put it to good use by applying for a skill-based scholarship instead. Only two skills in the fully-expanded game (Dancing from Get Together and Media Production from Get Famous) have no effect on either distinguished degree or scholarship applications.

Other factors which influence acceptance onto Distinguished Degrees in The Sims 4

Teen Sims who are hoping to enrol in university upon reaching young adulthood would understandably do well to keep an eye on their grades.

'A' students are more likely than their peers to be accepted onto a distinguished degree course; while leaving high school with a 'C' grade or lower actually has a detrimental effect on the chances of distinguished admission.

Additionally, with the Get Famous expansion pack installed, there are a couple of, let's say, 'unofficial' things you can do to increase your chances of being accepted onto a distinguished degree:

  • Flaunt Fame: If Sim is a celebrity, you can use this interaction (found on the cell phone menu under the 'Work' tab) to attempt to influence the admissions committee into a favourable decision. Success improves your chance as much as relevant a low-level skill would, but failure will lower your odds to a bit below the baseline.
  • Make a "Donation": Alternatively, if your Sim is both famous and wealthy, they can skip the niceties and just try to bribe their way onto a distinguished degree. This costs 2,000 simoleons and, unlike the Flaunt Fame interaction, can be used to benefit anyone in your household, not just the Sim making the call. Success gives a huge boost to your chances of admission, but failure is hugely detrimental... you are trying to buy the integrity of the admissions panel, after all.

can't grade homework sims 4

Then again, if you're too poor, obscure, and/or honest to try underhanded means to get what you want, you can always change universities down the line.

This will cause some loss of progress; but it will allow your Sim to start their university career right away regardless of their existing skills, and still earn their way onto a distinguished degree down the line.

Changing universities can be done upon re-enrollment after completing a term. After using the computer, phone, or mailbox to re-enrol, simply click the back arrow on the 'Degree Selection' page to return to 'Select a University'.

Our The Sims 4 cheats can help you fast travel your way to all sorts of bonuses in the game. Meanwhile, if you have expansions, we can help with becoming a werewolf , Fabrication in Eco Living , Tiny Living , how to become a Mermaid , how to become a Spellcaster , High School and attending prom and University Degrees and Distinguished Degrees . In June 2020, we also saw the free addition of ladders in The Sims 4 .

Distinguished degrees may carry a little extra prestige, but don't despair if your Sim doesn't make the cut. Being accepted onto a regular degree is almost a certainty, and there is nothing wrong with studying Computer Science at UBrite or Art History at Foxbury, for example.

You'll still come out with a degree that gives you a significant (though slightly smaller) head start in any associated careers; and though you might not find a student society quite so tailored to your interests at a university geared towards a different skill set, both schools have a Spirit organisation that can be enjoyed by anyone.

So if you're mainly interested in the social side of university life, or if you're quite content with the benefits you'll receive just from having graduated, there's no need to wait until you get onto a distinguished degree. Go ahead and enrol right away!

Complete Education Career Guide For The Sims 4

Quick links, education career overview, first levels of education career, administrator branch levels of education career, professor branch levels of education career, what are the education career rewards.

If your Sims are eager for knowledge and the college experience, then there's no better pack for you than The Sims 4: Discover University . Travel to the lively world of Britechester, join fellow students in pursuit of a degree, and attend some of the best parties.

The Sims 4 Create A Sim Kits, Ranked

However, for Sims who want to enjoy education beyond just college, there is the Education career included in the expansion pack. Your Sim gets to impart their wisdom to the youth with this career, going all the way from a simple substitute teacher all the way up to the very top of the Education career track.

The Education career track allows you Sim to become a teache r, and teach skills to younger Sims. The Education career has two branches to choose from: the Administrator branch, and the Professor branch.

Both branches come with increased pay and more perks. The Administrator branch will earn more Simoleons overall. However, the Professor branch has fewer work hours.

This career is great for Sims who are focused on knowledge, particularly the Research and Debate skill . However, your Sim will need to be good at both Logic and Charisma skills, too.

To join the Education career, go to any computer and click Career , then Find a Job. You will be able to scroll down and find Education, starting as a Substitute Teacher. You can also use your Sim's phone to get a job under the Business app.

Once you've accepted the career, it's time to get started on your journey in education.

To start, there are five levels of the Education career that are general before you pick a branch. Here are all the levels, including their work hours, pay, daily tasks, and promotion requirements:

How To Get Promoted In Early Education Career

To get promoted quickly, the best thing to do is to focus on increasing your required skills , specifically Research and Debate, and completing the daily tasks .

Increasing the Research and Debate skill can be done easily through any mirror. Simply click on it and choose Practice Debate .

You can also use The Daring Debator Podium Set , but this costs 1,750 Simoleons. It can be found under Activities and Skills > Logic in Buy Mode.

If you want to increase your Research and Debate skills and your Logic skills faster, make sure your Sim is in a focused mood . This will increase the rate which they earn the skill at.

Your Sim won't have to work as hard to level up their Charisma and Logic skills, but don't neglect them entirely. It's best to get these leveled up quickly.

Logic skill can be increased by playing on any chessboard, and Charisma can be leveled up by practicing speech in any mirror.

Grading homework is easy. Open up your Sim's inventory, and you'll find the Teacher's Portfolio . Place it anywhere on the lot, click it, and choose Grade Homework .

There are five levels of the Administrator branch if you choose this for your Sim. Here are all the levels, along with their hours, pay, daily tasks, and promotion requirements:

How To Get Promoted In Administrator Branch

Once you choose the Administrator branch, you can forget about the Logic skill and focus on leveling up the Research and Debate and Charisma skills only. You will specifically want to level the Research and Debate skill.

Again, these can be done by practicing at a mirror, by Practice Debate or Practice Speech .

Having your Sim in a confident mood can help boost their Charisma skill. You can have your Sim brush their teeth at any sink to get a Confident moodlet.

Reviewing budget proposals is the other task that is important to getting promoted. You can do this by going to any computer, choose Career , then Education Career , then choose Review Budget Proposals .

Luckily, this task isn't difficult, and it will put your Sim in a confident mood once completed. You can take advantage of this moodlet by practicing the Charisma skill.

Just like the Administrator branch, the Professor branch has five levels to complete . Instead of working behind the scenes, Sims became a professor at a university to teach higher education.

Here are all the levels of the Professor branch, including their pay, hours, daily tasks, and promotion requirements:

How To Get Promoted In Professor Branch

Just like how the Administrator branch gets to stop building the Logic skill, Professor branch Sims no longer have to increase their Charisma skills.

Instead, they should spend their free time playing chess to increase their Logic skill, and continue to practice debating . This will make it much easier to advance in their career.

Professor Sims will also need to write scholarly papers to get promoted. This can be done by going to any computer, choosing Career , then Education Career, then choosing Write Scholarly Paper .

This task will only take one or two Sim hours to complete, so it's best to do it every day.

It helps to be in a focused mood when trying to level up Logic skills and write scholarly papers. Try enabling some emotional auras with your items to induce this mood.

There are plenty of rewards to earn as you level up in the Education career. Here are all of the career rewards , along with the level they unlock at:

As soon as you unlock the rewards, they will be available in your household inventory. Place them in Live Mode or Buy Mode wherever you'd like.

The Sims 4: Teenager Aspirations, Explained

Is your sim the center of attention or a total drama llama? Use teenagehood-specific aspiration traits to carve out a niche for your teens.

Quick Links

Teenager aspiration: admired icon, teenager aspiration: drama llama, teenager aspiration: goal-oriented, teenager aspiration: live fast.

The Sims 4: High School Years opens the doors of Copperdale High, letting you accompany teens to school for the first time in Sims history. From playing pranks to joining extracurricular activities, you've plenty to do between exam cramming sessions - that is, if you don't accidentally fall prey to that creepy urban legend you overheard the football kids talking about at lunch.

Related: The Sims 4: All Sim Deaths And How To Cause Them

There are four teenager-specific aspirations you can choose from to give your Sim a head-start into adulthood. To help you decide, let's take a look at each one.

If the thought of being Prom Royalty makes your golden heart flutter, and the idea of being the most popular face in school fills you with delight, you'll want to opt for the Admired Icon aspiration.

Strike up friendships with everybody, maintain a healthy Social Bunny presence, and be the talk of the town with your flawless fashion looks as a burgeoning entrepreneur on this pathway to Internet fame and glory.

Be sure you leave some time for your studies when you're not out grabbing boba with your posse! Even popular kids need to get good grades if they want to graduate with honours or become valedictorian .

Oh. My. God.

Gossip girls and bad lads watch out: there's a new Drama Llama on the quad.

As Copperdale's resident troublemaker, this aspiration rewards you for playing pranks , ruining relationships , and stirring the pot in any way possible to make your oblivious classmates' lives a living hell .

Welcome to the ultimate pathway to becoming the most devious Sim in town.

Reading, 'riting, and 'rithmatic are the bread and butter of a swotty Sim who's on the Goal-Oriented aspiration path.

You'll want to spend a lot of time studying for your exams and doing homework in a timely manner since a key milestone involves maintaining straight A's for three whole days.

You'll also need to choose one of the after-school clubs to join; whether you're a sporty Sim or more into computer programming and chess , everyone knows colleges love a colourful academic transcript - and yours is set to dazzle!

If you're wanting to lead the rebellious life of a kid who loves a party, the Live Fast aspiration is the one for you.

With milestones such as Get Into Trouble and Sneak Out , your goal is to do as little work as possible and have the most fun (not) doing it.

Be prepared for slippery grades and a lot of Detention - if you're caught skiving too often, you may just get yourself expelled .

5 Crucial Tips To Surviving The Sims 4: High School Years Expansion Pack

Ashley Bardhan Avatar

But first, some context: the Expansion Pack’s release coincided with a major base game update that added, among other things, a layer of scruffy realism with maintainable body hair options, customisable sexual orientation, curved walls, and unwanted cases of incest. Yeah, you read that right. For a week, both the base game and High School Years have been patrolled by icky bugs, like Sims wanting to court their family members, ageing rapidly, and randomly becoming celebrities.

This isn’t a renewed season of an exploitive TLC series , though, it’s the Sims 4 . When the community cried out against the icky bugs, Maxis swiftly released some “growing pains” patches on August 2 . Sadly, much like cystic acne, some problems don’t clear up so easily. Creepy crawlies continue to run our High School Year s, I’ve noticed, but I’ll tell you what to look out for and what to expect from Sims high school. And then I’ll give you a wedgie.

Don’t be old

Teens rule Copperdale, the new world included in High School Years that has three major attractions — the pier, the school, and the shopping centre. All Sims can travel to these locations no matter their age group, but only teen Sims can attend class.

You can think of High School Years as a lifted veil. Typically, you ship teens off to school when prompted, they melt into the ether, and then they return home when school’s over. Now, you can check out what’s so interesting about the ether and guide your teen Sims through attending classes, studying for exams, extracurriculars, and even prom-posing.

But if your preferred Sim is a decrepit young adult, though you can’t engage in most of High School Years ’ actual high school stuff, you’ll still get access to a host of cute hairstyles, outfits, items, and Euphoria -ready makeup looks. Kids and toddlers can also cash in on some of those hairstyles.

Interestingly, young adult Sims can still join the high school cheerleading or football teams, which seems illegal. Young adult Sims can also get access to the High School Years careers “streamer” and “influencer,” which, as you know, anyone under 25 in the real world is mandated to pursue by divine law.

Lose your mind with meta screen time

High School Years introduces Social Bunny, essentially a Sims Twitter you can access by clicking the phone icon in the bottom left of your screen. Different events, like eating cafeteria food or reminiscing about a party, will prompt you to create different pre-written status updates that you can customise by setting a tone, like embarrassed or happy. You can also accept and send friend requests to Sims you meet and DM them friendly, flirty, or mean messages or tag them in posts. But think before you type — targeted messages can affect your relationship with Sims for better or worse.

Biff Beefers can't stop DMing himself. (Screenshot: EA / Kotaku)

Bug warning: I Social Bunny’d often with the hope of boosting my following as a career streamer, but despite all the angry emojis that got left on my homewrecking character Beef Beefers’ posts, that follow count did not budge. No hate follows? Very unrealistic, and, I suspect, a product of a bug.

I also noticed that sent DMs and their replies appeared out of order and that my Sim started DMing themselves. I know that social media can easily create a sick mind, but damn.

Buy new stuff

So dark academia cottagecore Trendi girl neon raver. (Screenshot: EA / Kotaku)

You’ll be cordially invited to ThriftTea, a new store where you can hang out with and meet your fellow kids, sip on eight-simolean teas and pick up new outfits to style and ship out on Trendi, a Depop-backed fashion resale app. Generating enough buzz for your looks earns you money, and more importantly, notoriety as a Simfluencer.

But if you’re more of an interior design girly, there’s stuff for you to buy, too. High School Years comes with a waterfall of new home and school items aimed at teen sensibilities, including cute figurines and a balloon arch to customise special events like prom, graduation, and weekly pep rallies. You can raze Copperdale High to the ground, rename it, assign it “characteristics” like “fast internet,” and remake it in Euphoria ’s image with all this stuff and an unlimited school budget. I installed a speaker in the cafeteria that only played electronica.

Ordering High School Years before September 8 will also get you a gaming chair, LED panels for your wall, and a wireless speaker. Play infinite mirrors with your gaming Sims and God, why don’t you?

Work hard, if you can

Get off your phone, Beef! (Screenshot: EA / Kotaku)

Grades in High School aren’t all that important. Virtue of being a little person in a computer instead of a little person in the world, I guess. There are two classes per day — you can check what they are by clicking on your Sim, selecting the “high school” option, and viewing your calendar — but there are only two classrooms in the school. Active Sims will always be in the left classroom, but the bell ringing and a flashing whiteboard will indicate when and where class is starting.

Class isn’t very enriching. All you need to do to attend class is sit down at the right time and pray your Sim takes their notebook out. Occasionally, you’ll be given prompts about what to do with a hard exam question. You can complete homework by choosing it in your inventory, but I’ve noticed my Sims sometimes do it on their own. You can also attend study sessions in the classroom on the right after school on Wednesdays, or choose to study on your own with the “high school” option. Make sure you’re ready for Friday exams — the game tracks your grades, but the worst thing that will happen to you if you’re a cruddy student is you’ll get a stern phone call from your principal. The principal can also give you detention if you’re caught outside of your classroom for any reason during class time, but as far as I can tell, all students are allowed to graduate no matter what. Must be a Montessori school.

Bug warning: I went to school. I went to class. I sat down. Nothing happened. I restarted the game. I restarted the app. Nothing happened.

For me, getting high school to work was the most frustrating and time consuming part of playing High School Years . The only thing I was able to do during an active class was “prank the white board” by presumably writing the b-word (“butt”) on it. I was able to study and do homework since you can manually control those things, but my Sim never, ever, not once opened their book during class time, and I couldn’t figure out why.

Play hard, if you can

In addition to landmark events like prom and graduation, there are plenty of on-campus leisure activities you can attend and control, like science fairs, career fairs, and pranks. Every Friday, there’s a pep rally of sorts with a football and cheerleading competition. You can participate by clicking on a football or cheerleading mat, which are also items you can buy from your locker.

To claim a locker, click on one in the school. You’ll be prompted to buy an item from it or customise its appearance with different styles like “dark academia,” “goth,” or “gamer.” Yes, teens love “gamer.”

You can sabotage someone else’s locker by clicking on it and selecting “stink capsule.” Don’t get caught in the stink cloud, though — your Sim will literally die , and your high school will likely have a negligence lawsuit on its hands.

If you survive to see another day and get invited to an epic nighttime event, teen Sims can now sneak out of windows, which is cool and sneaky. All Sims will also gain access to a number of new WooHoo or, for teens, “mess around” spots, including on fairgrounds or on campus. These WooHoo spots may lead to another lawsuit, but I tried to romance my Sims’ teacher and couldn’t, if that helps.

Bug warning: I had some issues with fairs not starting properly or starting only halfway. Like, on one Friday football competition, plenty of Sims were in attendance and one was giving a speech, but the food stalls never opened and no one touched the footballs. My Sim was forced to mourn the lack of veggie hot dog.

The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion Pack is full of fun new items, gameplay mechanics, and locations to explore, there’s no doubt about it. But it’s still encumbered with bugs that make exploration less satisfying. So if you’re looking to relive your high school but make it better, you probably won’t be able to here. You might, however, find a book called Love in the Time of Sandwiches in the school library and have fun anyway. At least I did!

The Sims 4: All Skill Cheats

Skill cheats allow Sims 4 players to adjust their Skills without spending in-game hours working on them.

The possibilities are almost endless in The Sims 4 for how players want their Sims to live. They can experience unique jobs, life events, and relationships while building their Sims' lifestyles and personalities. Skills are essential for Sim hobbies, jobs, goals, and certain storytelling elements. While Skills can be increased through gameplay in The Sims 4 , players can also use cheats and mods to speed up the process. This guide has all the Skill cheats available in every Sims 4 DLC pack.

The Sims 4: Best Cheats To Use In Build Mode

Updated on May 6, 2024, by Taylor Pittman: Using cheats is a common practice for many Simmers. Cheats can be used for needs, aspirations, simoleons, and skills. Skill cheats come in handy to save time and for story purposes if players want Sims to excel in certain things. The Sims 4 has received new DLC, so this article has been updated to include the corresponding skill cheats that came in those packs.

All Sims 4 Skill Cheats

Increasing Skills is an important aspect of The Sims 4 for many reasons. Sims with high skills sometimes get unique social interactions and have more options for higher-paying jobs. Alternatively, some Skills are related to crafting , so they can make valuable paintings, songs, and books to sell.

Learning Skills takes time and practice if Sims want to max them out. While certain emotions, lot traits, or potions can boost their Skill progression, it can still take several days of nonstop work to increase Skills. Luckily, players have a complete set of cheats dedicated to setting their Skill level.

How to Enable Cheats in The Sims 4

Before inputting cheat codes in The Sims 4 , console and PC players must ensure cheats are enabled in their game save. First, open the cheat console by hitting CTRL + SHIFT + C on PC or L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 on consoles. Next, input testingcheats true to enable cheats. Players can then enter cheat codes to change their Skill settings.

Skills are put into a few categories: Major, Minor, Child, and Toddler. Major and Minor Skills can be learned by Teens, Young Adults, Adults, and Elders. Once Children max out their Child Skills , they gain access to certain Major and Minor ones.

Major Skills have ten levels, and Minor and Toddler Skills have five, except for the Potty Skill, which maxes out at level 3. Doing activities and using objects related to the Skills will build them up, but players don't have to grind it out if they don't want to with cheats.

Most of the Skill cheat codes follow a formula of stats.set_skill_level (Skill Type)_(Skill Name) X, with X being the desired level, but there are some variations. See below for a complete list of all the Skill cheat codes in Sims 4 :

Major Skills

Minor skills, child skills, toddler skills.

Choose Your Own School Faculty in The Sims 4 High School!

ThatSimsLady 7 scaled

Customize your save… right down to the faculty!

We’ve told you how to make your own Principal’s Desks , but this time we’re explaining how to design your own faculty lineup! Janitor, Cafeteria Worker, Principal, and both Teachers included!

One thing that has been frustrating from the beginning about High School Years is the lack of customization. Although modders have done a lot to customize the school day, it’s sometimes nice to be able to customize a save without the use of mods. Here is how to replace the current faculty with Sims that you choose. Note: These sims do need to be the correct age for this trick to work.

Choose Your Own School Faculty in The Sims 4 High School!

Adding New Faculty

  • Place the faculty you want in either one household, the easiest way, or in multiple households.
  • Cafeteria Worker: traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_CafWorker
  • Janitor: traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Janitor
  • Principal: traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Principle
  • Teacher 1: traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Teacher1
  • Teacher 2: traits.equip_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Teacher2Note: Principal is spelled wrong in the cheat. This is how it needs to be spelled.
  • Do not travel with these sims. Go back to Manage Worlds and remove them from your favorites by selecting them in My Households within Manage Households. Then, click the Plumbob on the bottom of the pop-up screen. Finally, press the heart in the family’s box inside My Households so they’re no longer a favorite. This marks the household no longer as an NPC.

Removing Previous Faculty

  • Cafeteria Worker: traits.remove_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_CafWorker
  • Janitor: traits.remove_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Janitor
  • Principal: traits.remove_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Principle
  • Teacher 1: traits.remove_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Teacher1
  • Teacher 2: traits.remove_trait trait_Hidden_HighSchool_NPC_Teacher2
  • Once again, leave the household without traveling through Manage Worlds.
  • Remove the families from My Favorites. (As outlined previously.)
  • After following these steps, your faculty will now consist of your chosen faculty! Note: It is also possible to accomplish this by deleting the Sims.
