Channel 4 to Launch Junior Taskmaster, Taskmaster is Renewed for Three Years

Channel 4 and Avalon have announced the launch of new children-focused entertainment show Junior Taskmaster following the continuing success of ratings and critical hit Taskmaster , which is also renewed for a further six series by the broadcaster.

The PG and “Bleeped” (family friendly) versions of the BAFTA and twice National Comedy Award winning show have seen continual growth in popularity with younger viewers, parents and family audiences generally, while an increasing number of schools across the UK have also been taking Taskmaster into the classroom, either informally, or now via School Tasking , the not-for-profit primary school outreach project, and Taskmaster Education , which recently partnered with children’s mental health charity Place2Be. The brand-new eight-part series, Junior Taskmaster will see young people aged 9 to 11 bring their fledgling wiles, athleticism and creativity to the game that recognises genius at any age.  Hosts for the new series will be revealed soon.

Alex Horne, the show’s creator, said: “I've watched many, many comedians flounder when given simple instructions over the past few years and I fully expect the competitors in Junior Taskmaster to be both more competent and just as funny. For that series, I will be handing over my assistant's clipboard to someone equally as efficient and persistent as myself because I have a lot more admin to do with six further handfuls of supposedly talented adults. I live for bureaucracy so this is all excellent news”.

Greg Davies, the original Taskmaster, said: “My long-term contempt for young people is a matter of record but other people here at Taskmaster HQ seem convinced that they have merit. I am thrilled that two new team members are putting this questionable hypothesis to the test and will take on the challenge of corralling and assessing them on television. I will be watching closely to ensure standards are met. I am also delighted that Alex and I return to test the intelligence of comedians in the most scientific of ways. I’ll be pretty angry. It’s not even an act anymore.”

Tom Beck, Head of Events for Channel 4, said: “Taskmaster is the funniest, most creative show on TV and we’re so excited not only to have three more years of Greg and Alex on the brilliant original but also to expand Taskmaster. Junior Taskmaster is set to be hugely entertaining family-friendly treat with as much madcap nonsense as the main series and, who knows, it might unearth the comedy stars of tomorrow”.

Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment and Live Events for Channel 4 said, “We’ve seen some brilliantly memorable task-tackling talent in recent series and I’m delighted Alex and Greg are bringing our viewers even more of the award-winning Taskmaster. After the success of our Taskmaster’s New Years’ Treat specials to be able to extend the Taskmaster universe with Junior Taskmaster is incredibly exciting.”

Jon Thoday, executive producer, added: “It’s been a joy working with the team at Channel 4 - we’re delighted to be continuing the relationship and excited to be working together on Junior Taskmaster”.

Taskmaster is already watched by a broad multi-generational audience and in terms of profile was Channel 4’s youngest skewing series last year. In terms of audience share of young viewers (16-34) it is in the top three in the coveted 9pm slot, with Gogglebox and Derry Girls . Taskmaster is also hugely popular on All 4, where it is available for free and, since 2021, the average views per episode [0-7Days, O+O] have grown for the title with each series

Taskmaster is produced by Avalon and Executive Producers for the series are Alex Horne, Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, James Taylor, Jon Thoday and Andy Devonshire who also acts as Series Director, while Andy Cartwright will also continue as Series Producer. Taskmaster is commissioned for Channel 4 by Tom Beck, Head of Live Events and Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, with Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment and Events.

Logos Summer Training is intensive training for all who desire to acquire or improve their skills as classical and Christian educators, administrators, and board members.  Our Summer Training instructors are Logos teachers and administrators, and board members.  We’ve held this training annually for 29 years, except in 2020 which was canceled due to COVID shutdowns.  This training is officially endorsed by ACCS (the Association of Classical & Christian Schools).

We especially cater to new teachers, but half of our attendees are veterans.  Many come to Logos Summer Training again and again, since there is enough content that they don’t repeat.

Workshops will be offered in multiple tracks: Grammar (Elementary), Logic & Rhetoric (Secondary), and Administrative/Board.  Attendees are not locked into any one track; they may attend any session of interest. At check-in, you will receive a workbook with schedules, workshop outlines, maps, etc. Additional handouts will be provided for some sessions. Bring some pens, highlighters, and perhaps sticky notes.

Teacher training is designed for all major subject areas (grades PK-12) using the classical method. Workshops will include time to discuss the methodology of each concept and various methods of teaching the material.   Administrators and board members will concentrate on the practical and philosophical considerations of operating a classical, Christian school.

Every morning and afternoon will begin with a plenary session, followed by a choice of hour-long workshops.  We will allow time for Q&A in each workshop. Come prepared to interact! There will also be informal opportunities to get to know others and tap into their knowledge.

Airports :  We have 3 airports that are good possibilities:

1) Moscow/Pullman Airport (PUW). About 6 miles from the school. This is a small commercial airport served by Alaska/Horizon through the Seattle hub.  It is very convenient, but not always the cheapest; definitely worth checking because it’s so close.

2) Lewiston, Idaho (LWS).  About 35 miles from the school. This is a small commercial airport served by Delta and United.

3) Spokane, WA. (GEG). About 87 miles from the school, but there is never any traffic so it takes only about 90 minutes. This is a medium-sized airport, but the biggest in the whole Inland Northwest.  Airlines include Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, and United. Often this airport is the cheapest, because of the competition and volume.

Hotels : Several hotels are within walking distance of the school.  Make your reservations early!

A guest room block and special rates are being held at the Best Western Plus University Inn.    Prior to May 24 , please visit  Reservations   or call 208-882-0550 x 0 and mention Logos Teacher Training. When using the link,  please confirm your arrival and departure dates at the top of the first page . If the link is showing no availability, you are unable to book your required room type OR if making reservations after May 24 , please call the hotel directly.

  • Fairfield Inn & Suites (less than half a mile from the school)
  • La Quinta Inn and Suites (about 1 mile away from the school)

Within 10 miles of the school, there are another dozen hotel options.

Vendors will be at the conference, with booths set up in the back of the gym in until lunch each day.

  • Canon Press (Christian Publisher)
  • Picta Dicta (A Latin Learning Platform)
  • New Saint Andrews College (a classical college located in Moscow)

Chapman Testimonial

Classical Christian Education is the historic liberal arts tradition which cultivates free human beings and stands in opposition to the modern progressivists’ pedagogy designed to train compliant citizens who serve as consumers and cogs in an industrialized State.

At Kepler, we take the position that a truly Classical Christian Education is one that strives to glean the best of Western liberal arts education in every epoch. For this reason, Kepler teachers strive to foster conversation and dialogue in the true spirit of the academy where the free exchange of ideas offered respectfully and in good taste are welcome and put forth for the students' consideration and contemplation.

Learn more about Classical Christian Education .

Phil Ed Title

In short, instead of offering families another online school which limits their educational agency, Kepler offers families a way to connect with great classical Christian teachers so they can choose the best available options for their child.

The longer version is Kepler combines the firm biblical conviction that parents are the primary educators (Ephesian 6:4) with a strong desire to equip and support parents in their God-ordained task. Therefore, Kepler exists to make a Classical Christian Education available , affordable , and accessible to everyone who wants to possess such an education.

What is called Classical Christian Education today used to be called a liberal arts education . But like many words in a dynamic language, liberal arts education doesn't mean what it used to. A historic liberal arts education was the education of the free man, one who both ruled himself well but also influenced and ruled society well (thus, liberal from the Latin liberalis meaning free). Kepler makes what was once considered an elite education available to everyone who wants the liberating education of a free person.

Given that Kepler is an online platform—a consortium of independent highly-qualified teachers—and not a school, the Kepler model removes the bureaucracy and administrative costs and brings committed Classical Christian educators and families together. Kepler ensures Classical Christian Education is affordable by employing marketplace dynamics. At Kepler, vetted and qualified teachers set their own prices and schedules, and parents choose the right teachers and courses for their children. Kepler is, in essence, a free-market platform for Classical Christian Education.

Kepler leverages the best available technology to provide a teaching platform and community that attracts the best teachers in their field; thereby, Kepler makes Classical Christian Education not only available and affordable, but also accessible. Any student with a reliable internet connection and well-functioning computer can access some of the best classical Christian educators in the world from anywhere in the world.

Learn more about our philosophy of education from our short film, "We've Been Schooled!"

University Model Title

Kepler uses a “flipped classroom” or “university model” approach, where students read assigned material, watch pre-recorded lectures, and complete written assignments asynchronously throughout the week. The class then meets with their instructor online for about 90 minutes once per week to have Socratic dialogues or recitations. Students actually spend less time in the classroom or in front of a computer screen and more time actually learning from the great tutors like Plato, Aristotle, Edmund Burke, and C. S. Lewis.

Crawford Testimonial

All Kepler teachers are vetted by way of written and verbal interviews, third-party criminal background checks, and when necessary, by transcript and teaching experience reviews. We ensure every teacher on the Kepler platform is qualified to teach and ascribes to the Christian faith, classical pedagogy, and maintains a conservative worldview.

Mere Christian

Kepler teachers embrace those essential, common, and core beliefs left by Christ and the Apostles to the church catholic, the body of Jesus Christ on Earth, held through the ages by all orthodox Christian traditions alike. All Kepler teachers affirm the Nicene Creed as a minimum statement of their faith. Specific details of each teacher's statement of faith can be found on his or her teacher profile.

Broadly Classical

While it must be recognized that this great tradition of Classical Christian Education is mildly dynamic, developing over more than two millennia of Western civilization and expresses itself under a fairly broad tent of thought, Kepler teachers share a commitment to the Great Books of the Western tradition and engage students in the pursuit and acquisition of the liberal arts, that knowledge which is pleasurable for its own sake, and which frees the mind and prepares the soul to be wise and virtuous.

Historically Conservative

Kepler teachers recognize, value, and delight in the permanent things and believe the necessary and healthy pursuit of cultural reformation must accord with the contours of Scripture, natural law, and the created order. Kepler teachers strive to cultivate the same in their students.

Parent Testimonial 2

Kepler is inspired by the early modern scholar, Johannes Kepler, widely known for his commitment to Christ, the liberal arts, and the advancement of science in the West. While modern education argues over the value of STEM vs. Liberal Arts, men like Kepler embraced and advanced the integration of knowledge as essential to being an educated person. As Kepler seeks to champion this same integrated approach to learning, Johannes Kepler accurately exemplifies the courageous, innovative, and robust intellectual approach to education and human flourishing needed in the modern age. We are humbly attempting to cultivate such a spirit within Kepler's academic consortium.
