Essay On Transport

Essay on Transport: There are four transport modes: air, water, land and rail. Railways and roads are the most commonly used modes of transport. The Grand Trunk Road or the GT Road is one of the world’s oldest roads and the largest in Asia. Since the domestication of animals in the Mesolithic period, humans started to work on different types of transport mechanisms. Developments in transport systems have come a long way. Today, aeroplanes and jets are the fastest modes of transport. Humans have built jets. Some of the fastest planes and jets are the USAF X-15, SR-71 Blackbird, and MIG-25 Foxbat.

History of Transport

The earliest modes of transportation were walking and animal riding. The invention of the wheel by the Sumerian people in Mesopotamia changed the entire game. It allows the transportation of heavier loads with ease. Intercontinental roads like the Silk Route and the Grand Trunk Roads were constructed.

Major changes in transportation occurred in the 18th and 19th centuries when railways were introduced. The invention of the Steam Engine by James Watt was a major turning point in the history of transportation. After this invention, railway lines were set up for the first time in 1825 from Stockton and Darlington in England. Today, after almost 200 years since the invention, steam trains have evolved into hypersonic bullet trains.

Another invention in the field of transportation was of aeroplane. Aeroplanes were invented by the Wright brothers in 1903, when the first flight took off from North Carolina, USA. Aeroplanes are the fastest mode of transportation, allowing us to travel overseas within just a couple of hours.

Different Modes of Transport

The different modes of transportation are road, rail, sea and air. Roadways account for 87% of passenger traffic and 67% of freight traffic movement. On the other hand, railways are cheaper means of transportation for both humans and goods.

Air and Sea transports are used to travel to distant places or different countries. Travelling by sea is environmentally friendly as other means of transport use fuels like petrol and diesel, which release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

In recent years, governments have focused on building electric and sustainable modes of transportation, such as electric cars, bicycles, and public transit. This shift is driven by concerns about environmental sustainability and the impact of traditional transportation on climate change.

Latest Developments in Transportation

Bullet trains, drones, submarines and space rockets are among the latest developments in transportation. Recently, amazon , an e-commerce company, has started delivering via drones. Companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Boeing, etc. are building futuristic cars and spacecraft, which will cover thousands of miles in an hour.

High-speed rail projects, Urban Air Mobility, Electric and hybrid aircraft, bicycles, electric scooters, and other micro-mobility solutions were gaining popularity all over the world.

Ans: Transport refers to the movement of humans and goods through different means. There are different modes of transport, such as roads, railways, air and sea. Early humans used to walk to travel to different places. Later on, with the domestication of animals, people started to ride large animals like horses and elephants. Modern transportation is the result of inventions like wheels, steam engines and aeroplanes. Roadways and railways are the most popular and commonly used means of transport. Air and Sea transports are used to travel to distant places or different countries. Travelling by sea is environmentally friendly as other means of transport use fuels like petrol and diesel, which release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Ans: Road, rail, air and sea are the different modes of transport.

Ans: The oldest mode of transport includes walking, running, swimming and animal riding

ABSTRACT Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to produce an upper garment model for three-dimensional (3D) pattern making. This model will take into account ease allowance and silhouette, and will be used to propose a size-changing method. Design/methodology/approach – The authors used two real garment bodices with a surface suitable for pattern development. The garments were fitted to a designated dummy body and scanned. Using the scanned data, the authors made those upper garment basic models suitable for 3D pattern making. Using one model, the authors produced two bodice patterns, one with the original seam lines and the other with seam lines that differed from the original ones, and then compared them with the original jacket bodice. To construct garment models that were different in size from the basic model, the authors calculated multiplication factors of cross-sectional dimensions (in the front, back and lateral directions) between the basic garment and the actual garment shape worn on a body for each basic model. Using the multiplication factors, the authors made two different size garment models from two different size dummies for each basic model. The authors used these models to make patterns and garments. Findings – The reproduced jackets had similar shapes, silhouettes and ease allowances to the original jacket. Two garments of different sizes for each original jacket were made using the multiplication factors, and these garments also had similar silhouettes to the original jacket. Research limitations/implications – The implications of the work could be the new size-changing method. Originality/value – Using the modeling method, the authors were able to make complex new garment models that take into account ease allowance and silhouette. The ability to size these models up or down using multiplication factors could be a substitute for the grading method.

Covid-19 has appealed to teachers around the world to adopt a new era of online teaching-learning methods instead of traditional teaching methods. It is a challenge for teachers to engage students in the learning process and measure outcomes with proper tools. The use of online platforms forced every teacher to redesign teaching strategies. A teacher has to think about online learning platforms and design instructional strategies. Different tools are available to make online learning interactive. The selection and application of tools is a skill of the individual teacher. In the present work, outcomes of the course Engine Design (ED) are mentioned. The course is taught online using the MS-Teams platform. During course delivery, various instructional strategies like, Games, quizzes, Discussion forums, Polls, etc. are used. Outcomes, of course, taught using an online platform and active learning tools (batch 2020-21) are measured using attainment of course outcomes CO’s and course end...

Carbon nanotubes offer a new regime for adsorption experiments in the one dimension limit, with much basis for comparison to pure two dimensional adsorption on graphitic surfaces. Using a single suspended carbon nanotube as a tuned resonator allows for sensitivity on the scale of single atoms. The relative shift in resonance frequency with the introduction of He gas was used to detect adsorbate coverage of the tube. Data of the first successful adsorption isotherm of He on a single suspended carbon nanotube is presented, as well as figures for the isosteric heat and a simple theoretical model for comparison. Marked difference between the two suggests that the quantum nature of helium must be taken into account in calculating the binding and zero point energies of He on a single nanotube.

Gingival fibromatosis (GF) is a rare condition with an estimated incidence of 1750,000 in autosomal dominant cases and is supposedly genetic in origin. Gingival fibromatosis (GF) may occur as an isolated finding (Idiopathic gingival fibromatosis or IGF) or in combination with additional clinical problems that is, giving rise to syndromic forms of the disease. It usually is triggered when permanent dentition starts to erupt and can cover crowns of the teeth. Gingival fibromatosis occasionally manifests at birth or affect primary dentition. This enlargement may cause mal-position and diastema. Surgical excision of excessive fibrous tissue is the only treatment but it recurs. We are presenting here a case of 5 year old patient presenting with severe idiopathic gingival fibromatosis covering crowns of primary teeth and causing functional impairment.

It has been argued that hallucinations which appear to involve shifts in egocentric perspective (e.g., the out-of-body experience, OBE) reflect specific biases in exocentric perspective-taking processes. Via a newly devised perspective-taking task, we examined whether such biases in perspective-taking were present in relation to specific dissociative anomalous body experiences (ABE) - namely the OBE. Participants also completed the Cambridge Depersonalization Scale (CDS; Sierra and Berrios, 2000) which provided measures of additional embodied ABE (unreality of self) and measures of derealization (unreality of surroundings). There were no reliable differences in the level of ABE, emotional numbing, and anomalies in sensory recall reported between the OBE and control group as measured by the corresponding CDS subscales. In contrast, the OBE group did provide significantly elevated measures of derealization ("alienation from surroundings" CDS subscale) relative to the control...

Describe your favourite means of transportation

9IELTS

Describe your favourite means of transportation.

You should say:

  • when and how often you use it
  • why you use it

and explain why it is your favourite means of transportation.

Model Answer 1: Well, as much as I love driving, I must say that train is, and always has been, my favourite means of transportation. In fact, I have been travelling by train since my early childhood when my father needed to take us (me and my little sister) to our grandparents because they (my grandparents) just loved us too much.

But, that’s just a long time ago when I still didn’t know much difference between travelling by bus and train. All I knew back then that I just loved the rhythmic sound (some would call it “noise”) of a moving train while whistling through the tunnels and trees. Now, add to it is the excitement of meeting grandparents and their spoiling love, there just didn’t seem to be anything better than a train journey.

But, now, of course, I am much older and as such just don’t have the same kind of excitement. Rather, I have a great sense of security when travelling by train. After all, the train is probably the only public means of transportation in my country which provides a very high standard of travel safety and security at a very reasonable price. However, the problem is that in my country, there are not enough trains for short commuting, probably because there is just too much pressure of long-distance travellers on this popular means of public transportation.

So, I can’t really use this transportation as often as I would like to.  In fact, I use the train mostly when I travel a long distance in order to meet my friends and relatives, and that too not more than once or twice in a few months.

Anyway, the train is my favourite means of transportation, mainly because it offers me a great sense of comfort and safety at a rather affordable price. After all, a train is more spacious with bigger seats.  It is my favourite means of transportation also because it offers me some good freedom to do other things, like reading and chatting with my friends, in my privacy.

Model Answer 2: Favourite means of transport? That’s easy! I love going off on adventures, and there is one particular form of transport that I strongly associate with starting off on a voyage of discovery. I wonder if you will feel the same way about it, or whether you might think I’m a bit odd for thinking about it in such a romantic way!

I’ll tell you what it is, when and how often I use it as well as why, and try to convey to you why it is my favourite way to travel, even if the reality isn’t always as magical as my imagination would like it to be.

My favourite means of transport is the train! I don’t really use the train all that often, but that is part of the attraction. For day to day getting about town I tend to walk, or use the local bus, or if there is no public transport where I want to go then I’ll take my car. However, if I’m heading off further afield I always like to take the train, so that might be just a few times a year, and always for a longish journey – perhaps three hours if I’m going to London, but a lot longer if I was travelling right up to Scotland for example.

I use the train for lots of reasons. The practical reasons are that it is usually a comfortable way to travel as long as you go off peak. (I DO NOT enjoy being packed on a commuter train in the rush hour – that is a completely different railway experience). In cars or coaches, I can get a bit travel sick if I’m a passenger, but there is something soothing about the trundle of a train. I never feel ill journeying that way. Trains are also reasonably efficient at getting you from city to city towards your final destination, and you don’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic, so although it can be an expensive way to get about, it is always reassuring that you will probably get to wherever you are going on time to say catch your flight or make your meeting appointment.

Those are the practical reasons, but there are more emotional reasons why I like train travel. It is the anticipation you get sitting on a train, heading for a maybe new city, or to get a plane to an unknown destination and you start to think about all the exciting possibilities ahead. It is the first step into the unknown of travel, and it makes you feel alive!  Then, there is the joy of seeing new scenery unfolds as the train passes through towns, cities, countryside. Even if the route is familiar, it will always look different on any day depending on the time of year, the weather, the time of day. You get little snapshots of other people’s lives as you can see into their back gardens, watch them walking through the countryside, or even (if I’m honest) peering into their houses. The view from the train window may not always be beautiful, but it will always be interesting.  Depending on my mood, I like to look at the other passengers and imagine what their stories and destinations might be.  Some travelling alone like me, maybe carrying suitcases or backpacks and will be going off on holiday somewhere. There might be others wearing suits and clutching briefcases trying to get to important work meetings. Screeching groups of friends could be on their way to a reunion or party, and then there are quieter couples of individuals who might be going to the shops, visiting a friend or family member in a hospital. I like it when you see gangs who are clearly on their way to the same destination such as a day at the races (all wearing enormous hats and ‘posh’ clothes that would normally be out of place in the middle of the day). Sometimes it might be fans going to a concert or people from one particular profession heading to a work conference. I try and guess where they are all heading.

Amongst this throng of fellow travellers, you sometimes strike gold. British people have a reputation for not talking on trains, and generally, this is true. You do have to be a bit careful about how you read other people’s body language before you strike up a conversation. However, sometimes something will happen – the train is delayed, or you have to talk to each other as you are finding your reserved seat, and then to coin a phrase you’ve ‘broken the ice’ and talk flows.  I’ve had some of the best conversations and experiences of my life talking to strangers on a train. I have a theory that if you are talking to people you will probably never see again, you can be honest and direct in a way you would never risk in ‘normal’ chit chat. I can recall a few. One day I was on a train that was delayed for several hours due to an accident on the track ahead. Probably a suicide I think, although the announcements were a bit vague. This delay led to me having a really profound talk with the woman alongside me. We discussed quite literally attitudes to life and death, personal experiences of dealing with family illnesses, and notions of identity. We also had much more light-hearted conversation about fashion malfunctions and embarrassing stories about ourselves! We talked for hours, but at the end of our journey said our goodbyes and I don’t even know her name. I’ve had other amazing conversations too, one with a guy who claimed to provide personal banking services to millionaires – I’m sure it wasn’t true, but it was fascinating hearing him tell his tales ‘in confidence’ trying to impress me. On another occasion, I met an elderly woman who said she’d been a spy in the war – doubtful, but great to hear her stories all the same. Then there was the youngish man who chose me to unburden his soul to about his relationship problems with his girlfriend. I was surprised by the intimacy of his disclosures, but nosy enough to listen to it all anyway!

So trains are great.  They not only take you to glorious destinations, they are in themselves a snapshot of the world. If you are cautiously open enough to engage with others around you, you can gain insights into other worlds and experiences. You might even get some good advice along the way!

Sadly, not all train experiences are like this. Some are crowded, exasperating, squashed up against the armpits of others, getting increasingly annoyed at the fumes from the overflowing loo and being angry at the noisiness of drunken youths a few seats down. On those journeys, I try to close my eyes, concentrate on the rhythmic rocking of the train and imagine myself back on one of my more life-affirming journeys. Maybe next time I get on a train it will be like that all over again!

Sample Answer 3: Transportation is a great issue to consider here in Jakarta, Indonesia. It is really hard to move with public transports and meeting deadlines for reaching office. So, I have my own transport. I will describe the topic here and would like to thank you for this nice topic.   I work for a multinational company headquartered in Indonesia. In fact, I am the country manager for the company here and have been assigned to deal with lots of issues together. Earlier, before having the car, I used to ride on public transports. But it was difficult for me to reach the office in due time and complete my responsibilities. Even though I got out of the home about one and a half-hour before the office hour began, I was unable to reach by 9.00 am. The sluggish movement of the transports and congestion on the roads caused the delay. So, I bought a Fiat 500L. Now it is no more a problem for me to reach office. Further, I can use the car after my will and the movement inside the city has become easier for me now.

I use the car frequently. Actually, I rely on it for my movements inside and outside of Jakarta. Often I have to move for visiting markets and production plants. And at the same time, I have to meet some strict deadlines. I use the car almost every day in the week. Mostly I use it for visiting my office. The car is kept in the office garage during my office hours. Generally, I move from my home to the office in the morning. I start my journey at 8.10 am and reach the office by around 8.50 am. It takes almost half of the times than public transport.

I use the car for different purposes. When I did not have the car, I was unable to do everything so exactly as I am doing now. I failed to attend meetings in time, missed the deadlines of reaching in production plants and so on. Moreover, I had to wait for a bus or taxi which was also difficult. But waiting did not ensure that I would be able to ride on the bus while the taxi drivers demanded three times more than the usual fare. Riding on a crowded public bus was really a trouble for me. But now, they have vanished. I also use the car for moving to any parts of the city with my family. It is really a great advantage for me. It appears that I have got freedom.

The car is my favourite transport for many reasons. First of all, while riding a car, you do not need to think overreaching the destination in time unless there are no accidents of huge traffic congestions on the roads. The public transports make the delay as it carries a large number of passengers and they need to ride or get off to different destinations. Besides, the transports wait for the passengers in the stoppages which also play an important role to kill time. As a result, a huge number of working hours are wasted. But with the car I own, there are no such issues. I can start and stop the journey at any time or at any place I need. Moreover, I drive the car and use apps to avoid traffic congestions on my way to the destination. For all such reasons, the car is my favourite mode of transport.

Describe your favourite means of transport

You should say:

  • when and how often do you use it
  • why you use it
  • And explain why it is your favourite transport

Sample Answer 1

In my nation, there are several modes of transportation. Residents in metropolitan regions often own vehicles or take public transportation, whereas people in rural areas prefer to go by bicycle or tractor. People use the modes of transportation that are most convenient for them. However, the metro is my preferred mode of transportation.

I use the metro on an almost everyday basis. I normally use the metro instead of driving to work or anywhere else, for that matter. When I need to travel to a market in a densely populated location, I take the metro since it ensures to help me reach on time and without any hassles, and I won’t have to worry about finding a parking place for my car.

It appeals to me since it is a highly practical and pleasant mode of transportation. I don’t have to worry about traffic, and I’m confident that it will allow me to get to my intended location on time. I can get on and go. Additionally, metro seats are extremely comfortable and air-conditioned transportation in India. In metro cities, metro trains are the most common mode of intercity transportation. Besides, travelling by metro is simple because the fares are low and accessible to anyone.

In order to make it run quicker, the metro is powered by electric engines. It consists of many compartments and goes along railway rails. It is spacious and can transport a large number of people. Long-distance and short-distance metros are available. Many people in my nation like to travel by metro since it is convenient and well-maintained. Moreover, the metro produces no air pollution and much less noise pollution. Therefore, I prefer it more than other modes of transportation.

Sample Answer 2

Regardless of whether it’s public transport or a personal vehicle, transportation plays an important role in our lives. Here, I’d like to talk about my favourite mode of transport. Amid different types of transportation, I prefer the bus, because travelling on the bus is very affordable and it saves money on gas and from the hassle of driving in traffic. I often commute from my house to the office, which is approximately 5kms away, using the bus. I believe that travelling in a roadworthy vehicle driven by a licensed and well-trained driver seems like a good idea all around instead of worrying about driving distractions. There are several reasons why I travel by bus and why it’s one of my favourites because firstly, I can complete my pending tasks. Secondly, I get to meet new people from around the city. These meetings will mature into long-lasting friendships at a later point in time. Also, the seats on the bus are spacious. Besides the low cost and convenience, buses contribute to less pollution. Most importantly, buses are a safer mode of transport as most accidents occur due to the negligence of an individual’s careless driving. Overall, the bus is my favourite means of transportation as it offers a great sense of comfort and safety at a relatively affordable price.

1. Affordable

  • Meaning : inexpensive; reasonably priced.  Eg : My mom bought the necklace as it was affordable.
  • Meaning : irritating inconvenience.  Eg : She hated the hassle of shifting from one place to another.
  • Meaning : travel some distance between one’s home and place of work regularly. Eg : Rose commutes from her village to the city by train.

4. Negligence

  • Meaning : failure to take proper care over something.  Eg : Mary’s negligence led to the accident.

5. Comfort

  • Meaning : a pleasant feeling of being relaxed and free from pain:  Eg : Rose loved working from home as it provided her comfort and convenience.

IELTS Speaking Part 2&3 #7 Describe your favorite means of transportation

  • Post category: ielts speaking 2019 past
Describe your favorite means of transportation. You should say: What this transport is When you began to use it The advantages and disadvantages of using this form of transportation And explain why it is your favorite form of transportation.

Sample Answers:

There are many means of transportation in my country. People in the urban areas usually have their own cars or they use the public transport whereas the people in the rural areas tend to travel on bicycles and tractors. People in this world use the means of transportation which are suitable for them. The previous mentioned means of transportation are used to travel within the country whereas the airplanes are used to travel from one county to another.

My favorite means of transportation is a car. I got this car when I was 19 years old. First I used to travel on a bus, but after getting the car my life got a lot of easier and felt that car was a necessity rather than a luxury. First I used to travel on a bus and I never reached my destination on time. There was a day when I missed a bus and due to that I also missed my exam so I got a zero on my exam. I think that the use of a car enables a person to reach on time and it also protects a person from bad weather. There are also some disadvantages attached to the use of car as it is very expensive to keep a car and a person also has to pay for the maintenance charges. Cars also create pollution and traffic congestion. I still feel that the benefits of using a car outweigh the drawbacks and more and more people in this world are trying to get their own car.

Follow-up questions:

  • What types of transport are there in your town? In Manchester I think you can find every form of transport apart from an underground system. You can drive around the city by car or get on a bus; there are even free buses that take people between the train stations. Manchester also has a tram system, and of course there are taxis too.
  • Have the types of transport people use changed much over the last few decades? Option 1: I don’t think they have really. We’ve had the transport I mentioned before for many decades now in my country, and it is much the same today. Of course cars have become much more popular as people’s incomes have risen which accounts for the problems we see on the roads today such as congestion and more accidents and pollution. This has probably led to some changes within cities. Many have now introduced environmentally friendly forms of transport such as trams and guided buses that don’t run on gas and mean that people can travel without the use of the car. There has also been an increase in air travel, but like I said, this is quite expensive in my country so most cannot afford it. Option 2: Yes I think so. There has been a significant rise in private vehicles used for leisure journeys and work journeys. The reason is that people in my country is becoming wealthier. However, among young people, using public transport is an increasing tendency. Part of the reason is that they are more aware of the positive impact of public transport on reducing the number of private vehicles, air pollution and protecting the natural environment. Also, due to the rising costs of oil and legal insurance, many young people choose to use public transport.
  • What kinds of improvement have there been in transport in your country in recent years? Option 1: There has been several ways that transport has improved. More major roads have been built which means it is easier to travel long distances, though of course some would argue that more roads are not an improvement. They can be an eyesore in the countryside and they have encouraged more people to drive which may mean these improvements ultimately don’t work because there are more cars using the roads. As I mentioned before, there has been the introduction of mass transit in many cities, such as trams and trains. In our capital city they have also extended the underground system so it now links many more areas of the city. This has helped many people as commuting times are horrendous if you have to travel on the roads. Those are the main improvements. Option 2: The number of domestic and international airports have increased, which contributes to the growth of the tourism industry. Along with airports, the number and quality of sea ports, freeways and railways have gone up as well. Coaches and buses have been improved, allowing people to travel around a city and between cities in Vietnam. A good example is the introduction of high-quality in-city bus routes in Ho Chi Minh city that allow passengers to travel from and to Tan Son Nhat airport.
  • What do you think of public transport in your country? It has been improved so much over the past few decades but still does not meet international standards and needs of people in Vietnam. Currently there are no tram and underground systems therefore bus is essentially the only option of public transport. With respect to buses, many vehicles are not so clean and timely. I think a possible solution is to privatize the bus industry. Because of the profit motives, bus companies will try to find ways to improve the quality of their services.
  • Do you think that the government should invest more in transport projects? I think that developing transportation system will improve the capacity and efficiency of the Vietnamese economy. However, the problem of political corruption may kick in. Also, due to the huge costs of those projects, it is reasonable for the government to encourage private-sector investment. In the situation of Vietnam, my opinion is that much more money should be spent to improve public transport systems and make it more affordable to people from all social classes.
  • What types of transport do you think we will use in the future? I’m not sure, but hopefully we’ll have cars that drive themselves and never crash. I think we’ll probably fly more, and it might become normal to have your own plane. On the other hand, many cities are building more bicycle lanes, so maybe we will use cars less for getting around towns and cities.

Traffic and Transport Essays

Should only electric cars be allowed on the road?

Some people think that only electric cars should be allowed on the road by 2040. Do you agree or disagree? There are a lot of discussions about if there should only be electric cars on the road in the future. Electric cars are one of the most innovative inventions that were done in the XXI century. Despite the fact that many people think there would be lots of positive aspects, In my view it also has enough drawbacks. First reason why I disagree with this statement is the high price of electric cars. Electric cars are not only expensive by themselves, but also are rather complicated to maintain. Even if there would be analogs for Tesla, the most popular electrocar company, they require electrical charge, which surely costs more than simple gasoline cars. Moreover not every country in the world has electro-stations as it can be unprofitable and cost too much money. That means, it would be very hard to force people to refuse ordinary cars, and not every country would be able to afford it. Second thing I need to say is that electromobiles have limited speedrun up to 500 kilometers for premium brands, hence the cheaper the automobile, the less time it can last. It can be changed in the future, but nowadays they are not efficient in terms of daily lasting. On the other hand, electromobiles are obviously the best type of cars that can be offered in today's market for the environment. Although they require a lot of energy, it is generally better than gas and petrol that pollute the air with chemicals. Usage of electric automobiles can reduce carbon footprint. As well as that they can be charged with renewable energy and use things like solar power. In conclusion, this statement has both advantages and disadvantages. However, I suppose, it will take too much maintenance to change the whole car industry, as electric cars still have their downfalls.

Reliance on Cars

I am taking IELTS this coming Saturday and in need of comments for my essay writing. Please help! More and more people are relying on the private car as their major means of transportation. Describe some of the problems the reliance on cars can cause, and suggest at least one possible solution. The increasing preference of using private vehicles as the means of transportation has caused an array of issues in many parts of the world. This essay will examine some potential impacts that this trend has on society and suggest some feasible solutions to ameliorate such backlash. Predominantly, the rise of private vehicles has led to a number of issues which severely affect the quality of life of the people. To begin with, this trend is the root cause of traffic congestion in many metropolitan areas. More vehicles simply mean more traffic; road infrastructures are unable to keep up with such a sudden increase, thus lead to traffic jam. In addition, this malpractice is one of the contributing factors to pollution which affect us day by day. For example, the amount of burning fossil fuels significantly increase in order to fire up the engines of the millions vehicles. This translates that the severity of the pollution to the environment are gradually rising due to the amount of carbon dioxide being emitted to the atmosphere. Apart from this, noise pollution is also derived, though partially, from the increasing number of vehicles, and it tremendously degrades the quality of life people used to have before the advent of the development. This, however, is not an impossible-to-solve issue if proper measures have been in place by the government and individuals. First of all, heavy tax can be introduced by the government in order to deter commuters from tempting to use their private means of transport, due to its high cost. At the same time, it also encourages people to start using public transportation. Individual people can also contribute to solving this matter. Carpooling, for example, is an effective solution to traffic congestion, and should well be adopted by many, so that, instead of one car for one person, a group of four or five and share if their destination is identical. In conclusion, although increasing number of vehicles poses some serious issues to the society, it can still be easily resorted if everyone join hands and take some serious steps to solving it.

Building Railways or Roads

Governments should spend more money on railways rather than roads. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Since time immemorial, people try to find the most effective way for transferring goods as well as for travelling. Some of them prefer to use railways, another find more advantages by car driving. Whilst, I believe that there are strong arguments on both sides, I would suggest that it is more beneficial for national authorities to invest in railways building. Nobody can deny that spending money on roads is more profitable for government. First, all materials, which are necessary for such building, are usually cheaper to purchase than, for example, to buy rails or trains. It also should be noticed that during next five or ten years authorities could spend less money on roads reconstruction or repair. Moreover, the speed of the roads building is the factor of utmost importance. Due to the spending less time for the road creation, government, for example, can efficiently deliver all necessity goods and help to the citizens who suffer from earthquake or storm. Turning to the other side of the argument, railways continue to show their potential in developed countries. Modern trains, which are used only electricity, have a positive impact on our environment. Japan is the best example of how rational using of railways helps government to develop all areas of the country. New trains could be used by more than thousands people per hour, which allow workers to drive to their factories and offices at any part of the country. Despite the fact that the newest train’s speed is about 600 km per hour, Japanese railways are safety and very convenient. To conclude, both railways and roads have advantages and disadvantages for counties. However, I strongly believe that if the governments have enough money they should invest in railways rather than in roads, because modern trains are more reliable and faster than cars or buses. In long term perspective national authorities will spend less on environment protection as well as on attracting labor in small cities.

Paying to Maintain Roads

As the number of cars increases, more money has to be spent on road systems. Some people think the government should pay for this. Others, however, think that drivers should cover the costs. Discuss both views and give your opinion. Some today have argued that the funding for road systems should be the responsibility of governments instead of individuals. In my opinion, although maintaining roads can be considered a public service, private motorists should pay in order to more generally benefit society. Proponents of governments assuming road costs argue this is a basic service tax-payers expect. In all countries, working adults must pay a certain percentage of their monthly salary to the government. From these contributions, individuals justly feel entitled to a variety of public services ranging from police and fire departments to affordable hospitals and safe infrastructure. Roads are a key component in this contract as most people drive in order to go to work, see friends, and take holidays. The government will itself benefit not only from fulfilling this mandate but also in terms of the financial byproduct of consumers being outside actively contributing to a market economy. However, forcing drivers to pay these costs will greatly discourage private automobile ownership. This disincentive is crucial today because cities are overcrowded and private vehicles contribute to rising pollution levels. In large cities such as New York City and Tokyo, it is nearly impossible to traverse the city by automobile at peak rush hours. If there were fewer cars on the road, then people could travel more freely on bicycles, on foot, and using public transportation. Additionally, private vehicles are inefficient. Other forms of travel leave relatively small carbon footprints but cars, often carrying only one or two passengers, use more petrol than would normally be required to transport people. Replace cars with more efficient transport options and there would be a marked decrease in the consumption of fossil fuels. In conclusion, despite the strong argument that tax-payers deserve public infrastructure such as roads, it is more important to discourage individuals from purchasing cars. In the long-term, this will greatly benefit cities and the world as a whole.

✍️ Transportation Essay Outline & Writing Guide

Now that you’ve chosen a perfect transportation topic, you’re ready to learn how to plan your essay. Similar to any other type of academic writing, a transportation essay consists of three main parts:

The picture shows a transportation essay template.

Now, let’s see how to write each essay part.

Transportation Essay Introduction

An introduction is the first part of the essay. Its goal is to let the reader know what they can expect from this work. Try to make your introduction as brief and straightforward as possible.

Since the introductory paragraph starts the paper, it has to draw the reader’s attention. The most effective way to achieve it is by using a hook . A question, an interesting fact, or statistics can work as a hook:

Why is public transportation important?

Did you know that in 2019 Americans took around 9.9 billion trips using public transportation?

After you’re done with the hook, do the following:

  • State what your paper is about. The reader needs to know the essay’s main topic and why it is important.
  • Provide some background information. It will help you to establish the issue.
  • Finally, build a strong thesis statement. Want to know how? Read the following section.

What Is the Strongest Thesis for an Essay on Public Transportation?

A thesis statement is a sentence that contains an answer to your paper’s central question. It helps you organize and develop your arguments and ideas. It also makes it easier for the reader to follow your logic.

To generate a good thesis statement, think of a question you will answer in your essay. For instance, let’s say your topic is “Explain how using public transportation can benefit people’s health.” With a topic like this, you may choose a question such as “What are the health benefits of using public transport?”

After you have a question, you can think of some answers to it. For instance:

  • The possible health benefits of using public transportation are that it helps to be more active, reduces stress, and keeps the air cleaner.
  • Using public transportation can help people stay more active, avoid stress, and keep the air cleaner.

Keep in mind that a thesis statement shouldn’t be too general. Try to narrow down the topics so that it becomes more specific. Take a look at the following thesis examples:

Transportation Essay: Main Body

In the essay’s body, you prove your thesis and support it with examples. If you have a simple thesis, you probably won’t need many body paragraphs to explain your ideas. Usually, 2 or 3 are enough.

Each of the main body paragraphs should contain:

Transportation Essay Conclusion

In a conclusion, you go back to the main focus of your essay. When writing a concluding paragraph, make sure to:

  • Rephrase the thesis statement. Remind the reader of your main argument using the information you have discussed in the body paragraphs.
  • Summarize the points you’ve made. It’s better to avoid mentioning new information in your conclusion. Briefly summarize the points you’ve made and explain how they support your ideas.
  • Talk about the argument’s significance. Demonstrate why the discussion on this topic is important. For instance, you may demonstrate how your argument helps shed light on a neglected issue. You can also suggest what the reader can do with the information they’ve learned.

Means of Transport Essay | Different types of Transportation

December 2, 2017 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

Long before the advent of science and technology , the early men were wanderers with no means of transport. They would only move from one place to another by means of foot – walking or running. Eventually, as they started becoming more and more aware of their own supremacy and brainpower, they started taming animals like elephants and horses who could take them from one place to the other.

Slowly, as they started making tools, they developed machines called wheels, a new era began that ushered in faster means of transport with lesser time and labour.

Later, with more and more evolution, development of trade occurred which resulted in a never ending search for finding better and more efficient modes of transport for both carrying humans as well as good – a search that has not ended even today and perhaps will continue till eternity.

In the world we live in today, it is absolutely imperative to find newer techniques of transportation that entails lesser time, labour and money. Now there is also a search for cleaner and pollution-free transportation.

The transport systems that we see today are just an improvement over the basic principle of the steam engine. Although the first recorded steam engine dates back to 1 st century AD to the time of Romans, various improvements were made on it.

It was not until James Watt invented the modern steam engine that is still used today that public transportation was just an unfeasible fantasy. James Watt’s steam engine used the steam pressure of the water vapour and converted it into kinetic energy by moving the piston which in turn rotated the crankshaft and through a mechanism similar to modern day differential, the power was transmitted to the wheels that moved the vehicle forward.

This was a revolutionary leap for mankind. After this, global transportation began to speed up and trade flourished. It was not until the 20 th Century that Internal combustion engines were invented that opened up a whole new realm of progress that mankind could tap on to.

Modes of Transportation

Today, there are several modes of transportation available at our disposal. These primarily include:

Through Roadways

means of transport

With numerous trials an error, man has been able to come to a solution about the material and component required to make proper, durable and paved roads that can take the beating of heavy tires and the mighty nature.

The cars and trucks and buses that usually take the roadways are a very effective and cheap means of transportation. They run on a variety of fuels, primarily fossil fuels – diesel and petrol. However, because of environmental pollution, newer, cleaner engines are being developed that run on a variety of natural gases as well as electricity. This causes lesser emission. And conserves the environment for the generation to come.

Through Railways

 Different types of Transportation

Diesel was used by these engines and they ran with speeds that were never before experienced by humanity. Today however, rail engines have undergone further development and they run on electricity which is faster, lighter and cleaner from an environment standpoint.

Further development has led to small scale and experimental introductions of ‘Maglev’ of Magnetic Levitation Trains which do not have wheels. These use similar poles of a magnet facing each other which creates an almost zero friction travel. This is however very costly and has not been used in large scale.

Through Waterways

 Different types of Transportation

The force of wind and the water current propelled them to their destination. Now however, turbine engines running n diesel are fitted into the ships that allow them to cut through the current and the ocean and make its own way.

This is however a comparatively slower means of transportation and it takes months to reach from one country to another. Passenger ships are almost obsolete these days, however, goods are shipped through this very economically,

Though Airways

Means of Transport Essay

As the World war resulted in scientific and technological advancements, airplanes were modified. Passenger jets were invented. These could travel thousands of miles in a matter of a few hours – by far the fastest mode of transport ever.

Space Travel

Means of Transport Essay

Just as per the writings of Jules Verne, man has devised capsules propelled by an explosion of gas and solid fuel which would pierce through the atmosphere and quiver into outer space. The National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) of the US was the first organization to ever send man into space in the mid-20 th Neil Armstrong was the first person to step on moon.

Today, however, these space travels have become cheaper and more common but it is yet to reach a point where it would be commercially viable. The rich and famous, all have invested in companies that are promising to take us to space in the coming few decades and start colonializing there.

Transport is a very essential part of our civilization and its progress. Man’s quest for finding better modes will perhaps never end. Transport is essential not only for our comforts, but for the global economy and business to flourish. Trade will be easier and quicker.

Better modes of transport will reduce overhead costs leading to a more prosperous economy. Faster modes of transport will reduce distances bringing the world closer and closer, making the concept of global village a reality.

Transportation in the past and present essay

Transportation in the past and present essay 16 models

Transportation in the past and present essay, through which we learn a lot of information about the means of transportation and how it evolved from horse-drawn vehicles until we reached the latest types of transport. All this will be learned here in Transportation in the past and present essay.

Transportation in the past and present essay

Transportation is one of the most important things that every day has a tremendous development. Here we will know how transportation developed and how it was in the past and how it has become in the present. All of this we will know here through Transportation in the past and present essay.

Transportation

Transport and communication are considered the cornerstones of many human civilizations because of their importance in linking neighboring cities and villages to each other.

Therefore, man has been seeking innovation and discovery for thousands of years to develop and improve these means.

Without transportation there is no Interconnection and communication between people. In this paragraph we will talk about transportation in the past and present.

Transportation in the past

The development of transport during the stages of history was very slow and difficult, as people were carrying their goods on their heads or on their backs or run on the ground.

In about 5000 BC, people began to use animals to transport loads and goods like mules and donkeys. After 3000 BC, the vehicles were invented. They were made up of four wheels without a motor.

Boats were also invented, and humans began using animals, vehicles and boats to carry loads to many places  faster and easier than before.

In the late 18th century inventors produced the first vehicles, and then the inventions in the means of transport until the fifteenth century AD,  Where improvements have been made in the construction of large vessels; to make long journeys possible across the various seas and oceans.

In the 18th century steam engines were invented, leading to the emergence of steam-powered vehicles and trains. In the late 19th century, oil and natural gas were discovered and harnessed to serve and develop various means of transport by building vessels and vehicles powered by gas and oil engines.

Transportation in the present

Today’s transportation has seen a significant leap forward, transforming the world into a small village,  These include:

Cars: The development of the world of cars has been a great speed, we are now witnessing many different shapes, types and designs of them, and the car companies are more competitive; to manufacture the latest cars and the fastest and most comfortable and safe.

Trains: trains are one of the most modern means of transport, through which thousands of people are transported through long distances and vast inside or outside their countries, and through which we transfer many different materials and goods, and at a lower price compared to other means.

Buses and trucks: Buses are one of the most important modes of mass transport, transporting many people to and from their workplaces. Buses are used as a public transport.  It is cheap and saves time and effort to move around.

How transportation has changed from past to present

When I wonder about how transportation has changed from the past to the present, I find there is a very wide difference in speed and comfort.

I find that the speed is relative to the person and the extent of his interest in arriving early. Because I see that there is always a lesson that we learn when we travel long distances and time does not go in vain. But there are always interesting events happening around us.

As for convenience, I can say that it has become very different between the past and the present. The old means of transportation were more difficult to move or rest periods in places that were not qualified for that.

Therefore, I find that the current amenities, such as comfortable chairs designed to suit your sitting for a long time, using the best and finest fabrics and materials, is very wonderful. Amenities vary according to the means of transportation, whether it is a plane, train, car, or steamer.

There is a vast difference that helps you spend a safe and comfortable travel. Therefore, it is great that we are living in this present time and enjoy all these convenient means of transportation.

Transportation in the past

In the past, transportation depended on a lot of hard work. Whether to prepare for it since a great time earlier. Preparing many items of food and clothing. And provide plenty of money so that a person can move. This is because of the distances and the presence of large areas that are not qualified for the population, which makes moving from one area to another difficult and fraught with many natural and abnormal risks.

One of the most famous ancient means of transportation was the horse or carts that were drawn by horses. Come later after that car or train.

And certainly cars were not made to carry heavy weights or travel long distances. Also, the roads were not qualified in all countries for movement.

Which makes us feel grateful that we live in a time of more development in the means of transportation and also more grateful for the rehabilitation of all countries of the appropriate infrastructure to facilitate transportation.

Paragraph about transportation

There is no doubt that the means of transportation are of great importance in the growth of the economy of countries.

Man has known the importance of transportation since ancient times and used it to move from one place to another, in addition to using it to transport products and merchandise to the markets.

Transportation has witnessed a great development, as it has become more comfortable and faster than before, and has used clean fuels such as gas and electricity to maintain a clean environment and reduce diseases that were spread due to air pollution with car exhaust.

Car exhaust was causing chest and respiratory diseases as a result of emitting large amounts of carbon dioxide. In addition, car exhaust contains high levels of lead, which is very harmful to health.

Transportation in the past and present

Undoubtedly, the history of transportation development indicates the extent of technological development that occurred during the past few decades. A series of successive inventions have occurred that revolutionized the world of transportation.

Example of transportation in the past

About fifty years ago, my grandfather and my father used the steam train to travel, and its speed was slow as it covered a distance of 100 kilometers in several hours, and the seats were made of wood and uncomfortable, and this train was very noisy as it went, in addition to the smoke coming from it which pollutes the air

An example of transportation in the present

Today, we ride an electric express train, it runs 100 km in several minutes, and its seats are leather, which is very comfortable, and it does not pollute the environment because it uses clean energy, and it does not make noise while it is running.

Compare transportation in the past and present

Undoubtedly, we saw in the old films some of the means of transportation that our ancestors used, and we noticed the great difference between them and modern transportation.

The benefits of technological development in transportation

The technological development in the means of transportation has provided several benefits that have brought all countries economic progress and growth, such as:

  • Increasing the speed of transportation, which saved a lot of time, in addition to encouraging many people to travel and move from one place to another.
  • Transportation has become more comfortable, in terms of the quality of seats, in addition to providing places on long roads for passengers to rest for some time.
  • Transportation is now able to transport heavier loads than in the past.

transportation before and now

Every day scientists and engineers work to improve the properties of transportation. Almost sixty years ago, the steam engine was used in all means of transportation, such as cars, buses, trains, and ships.

This was considered a huge development in the transportation industry. Coal continued to be used to power the steam engine until the discovery of petroleum.

They used gasoline and gas as fuel to obtain the energy needed for the various means of transportation. Then another progress occurred, where gas was used instead of gasoline in many means of transportation.

Transportation past and present

Reduce costs and increase efficiency

The most important concern of scientists specialized in the development of transportation means is to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Because the most important goal is to improve the transportation service, while maintaining the reduction of transportation costs.

Because this is one of the reasons for the recovery of trade between countries, where the prices of goods do not increase by a high rate as a result of the high cost of transportation.

And the cost reduction leads to a boom in tourism as well, as the cost of transportation is within the reach of many categories of people.

Means of transportation in the past

What is the motivation behind the development of transportation

Global trade is the most powerful driver of transportation development. This trade began since ancient times, when commercial trips were to India to buy spices and fabrics, and transport them to the countries of the Middle East or to Europe. As well as trips to Africa to transport gold and slaves to Europe and America. The means of transportation used in the past depended on animals.

Till the invention of ships, cars and planes, and as a result exports and imports increased. The development of means of transportation had the greatest role in trade exchange between countries.

Transportation then and now essay

Roads and transportation

We cannot talk about transportation without talking about roads. Where there is a close link between road construction and transportation development.

Would it be useful to develop means of transportation without creating roads that allow transportation to move easily?.

Therefore, it has become necessary to establish new roads commensurate with the speed of transportation, as well as with the increasing number of vehicles.

Gas stations are also set up at suitable distances, especially on long roads. Some maintenance centers are also being established, and services are provided to travelers

Transportation today compared to the past

The first modern highway was designed in 1756-1836 by John Loudon Mack, using soil and gravel as paving. And when the means of transportation developed, especially in Germany in 1886 AD and the United States in 1908 AD, the need for the construction of asphalt roads increased accordingly.

The Red Cliffy Nottingham Road became the world’s first paved road. Iron bars were also used to construct the railways on which the trains travel.

Thus, the road and railways were expanded, which revolutionized the travel of people and the transport of goods.

Describe the evolution of transportation and travel essay

What are the benefits of the development of means of transportation and what are its harms?

Undoubtedly, we are benefiting from the tremendous development that has occurred in the means of transportation. It saves us time and becomes more comfortable.

We do not feel the trouble of traveling as our ancestors did in the past. Where travel has become an enjoyable journey, we can watch a movie or enjoy reading a book.

However, there are risks to our lives due to transportation, such as:

  • Frequent traffic accidents, which claim the lives of many people.
  • Severe congestion, the streets became crowded with public and private cars.
  • An increase in the level of pollution in the environment.

A comparison of past and present transportation methods

To compare the means of transportation in the past and the present, we can compare speed, effort, cost and risks.

Comparison in terms of speed

Transportation in the present has become very fast compared to transportation in the past.

Comparison in terms of effort

The current means of transportation provide us with comfort and enjoyment of travel.

Cost comparison

Despite the advantages of modern means of transportation, it is considered less expensive.

Comparison in terms of risk

Modern means of transportation have become more dangerous due to the huge number of means of transportation that are on the road.

Transportation changes from past to present

In the past, humans relied on animals to move from one place to another. Man used donkeys, horses, camels, and mules to move him or carry his goods. Also, some peoples were able to use elephants to move and carry goods.

Then the means of transportation developed little by little, until we reached the modern means of transportation with better quality and lower cost.

Also, we can transport thousands of tons of goods from one country to another with ease. This development had a significant impact on the flourishing of trade and the exchange of goods, whether at the local or international levels.

What is the difference between transportation then and now

The difference between the means of transportation in the past and the present is very big. Scientists will continue to work on the development of means of transportation in the future. As it is the most important reason for economic progress.

You find that local and international trade depends on the development of the transportation network, whether land, sea or air.

In addition to the movement of individuals from one country to another, whether for tourism, work or study. The lower the cost of transportation, the more people will travel and move from one place to another.

The best day of my life speech

Different Types of Transportation Essay

Land transport.

Land transport is the physical movement of goods and people from one place to another on land. Land transport takes place through road, railway, and pipeline.

Road transport

Roads are made to connect different places on the earth surface. There are different types of road surfaces with some made of sand, cement, coal tar et cetera . There are different types of vehicles used in road transport, which can be categorized into three groups i.e. man driven, animal driven, and motor powered vehicles (Hensher 124). In the recent years, the motor driven mode of transport has become the most popular and widely used in both rural and the urban areas. Motor vehicles are of different models, which include vans, bus trucks among others all of which are used to carry goods and passengers on roads (Maddison 67).

Advantages of road transport

Road transport is relatively cheaper as compared to other means of transport such as air transport. This makes it economical to transport people and goods from one place to another.

Road transport can be used to transport perishable goods over short distances, for example, fruits and flowers.

Road transport is highly flexible as road network connects most places in the land surfaces, which makes loading and unloading possible. This makes road the most popular means of transport in many areas.

Road transport helps people to move from one place to another and transport their products to places not served by other means of transport. This makes road transport convenient.

The road transport requires less capital investment to set up as compared to other modes of transport such as railway transport and air transport.

There is less risk of damage of goods in transit in road transport when transporting delicate wares. This is because different vehicles are designed to transport different types of goods.

There is saving in packaging cost in road transport as product transported requires less packing as compared to other modes of transport.

Road transport acts as a feeder to other modes of transport as many goods transported by other means of transport usually use road transport at one point or the other. This may be by delivering goods to or from other modes of transport (Maddison 231).

Disadvantages of road transport

Road transport has a limited capacity making it uneconomical in transporting goods over long distances.

Transportation of bulky and heavy goods on road transport is expensive as compared to railway transport.

Road transport is affected by adverse weather conditions such as floods and landslides which causes disruptions of road transport.

Road transport is relatively slow as compared to air transport making it inappropriate in transportation of perishable goods over long distances.

Road transport is prone to accidents and breakdowns.

In most areas road transport is not very organized and different charges are usually paid within the same distance of transportation.

Rail transport

Rail transport is the transportation of people and goods in trains through railway lines. It is a dependable mode of transport and transports goods and passengers over long distances (Quinet 46). Railway transport has two types of trains; the passengers and the goods train. Passenger trains carries limited amount of goods. Trains in railway transport either use diesel engines or electric powered engines (Murray 48).

Advantages of railway transport

When transporting passengers or goods over long distances road transport is a convenient mode of transport.

The cost of transportation of goods and passengers through railway transport is cheaper as compared to road transport.

The operation of railway transport is not affected by adverse weather conditions.

It is suitable for transporting bulky and heavy goods over long distances.

Limitations of railway transport

Railway transport is relatively expensive in transporting goods and passengers over long distances.

Railway transport network is not available in most remote parts of the country.

The railway transport is not flexible in terms of time because it operates on a fixed time schedule hence not flexible for loading and unloading of goods at any time (Rohr 145).

Incase a train is involved in an accident it involves heavy losses in life and goods.

A Journey By Train Essay

Train journeys are indeed thrilling and exciting. The foundation of the transportation system and a key factor in fostering a sustainable economy are trains. India's regional trains are frequently packed and have few seats available. Not only do trains offer comfortable, safe, and economical travel, they are also one of the foundations of the economy. Here are a few sample essays on a journey by train.

200 word essay on a journey by train, 500 word essay on a journey by train.

A Journey By Train Essay

One of the most thrilling travel experiences is taking a train. It often comes in two ways: overnight excursions and short day trips. Because getting to sit on window seats on trains is such pure joy, kids often love taking them. Train rides offer a break from the routine. Children lustily yearn for the variety of available foods when riding local trains, which are designed to travel small distances. India's regional trains may not seem to provide much comfort, yet for many they are essential elements of survival, given that they are the quickest and least expensive form of transportation.

The most typical thing in the modern world is a train trip. We all require transportation since we need to travel long distances for various reasons, be it leisure or work. Among all of the available transit options, trains turn out to be the most practical and cost-effective choice. We like and experience exhilaration while travelling by train.

We must have all travelled by train when on holiday with relatives. Train rides are highly thrilling, fascinating, and cosy. One of the most convenient and affordable forms of long-distance transportation is by train. It's amazing how learning about different cultures, geographies, languages, and cuisines can be enhanced by taking a train. The trip is similar to reading a book that includes everything you need to keep you occupied until you get there. The possibility to engage with people from diverse language and ethnic backgrounds is another benefit of travelling by train.

While travelling by train, one can pass time by reading a book, listening to music, viewing movies, or relaxing pleasantly. In conclusion, travelling by train is absolutely unique. The train trip is unlike any other in that it is distinctive. The experience of taking the train is undoubtedly rich and unforgettable.

One of the most amazing experiences we ever have is travelling by train. It is thrilling, teeming with adventure, and a treasured memory. A train ride is adventurous and there is little chance of getting bored, whether it is a short trip or an overnight one. Children especially enjoy taking train rides, for they are fascinating and exhilarating.

A train is more than simply a vehicle. It carries feeling, the excitement of progress and the rush of speed. A short train ride may still be exciting, adventurous, and happy. There is a thrill of being on time, the adventure of exploring local sites and the happiness of being able to travel comfortably and safely.

Trains Are More Than Transportation

Not only is a train a means of transportation, it links individuals and gives them access to resources like employment, communities, and commodities. It provides necessary social services. We frequently read in novels and periodicals about the wonderful experience of using trains. Our hearts are filled with adventure, pleasure, and delight as we read them.

Benefits Of Travelling By Train

One of the main benefits of travelling by train is comfort. Most importantly, there is freedom of movement within a railway car. Additionally, there may be plenty of foot room in trains. Passengers travelling longer distances by train can also sleep cosily within a train.

An additional significant advantage of train travel is the stunning scenery one gets to see enroute to their destination. One may take in the scenery while the train goes, including views of the countryside, farms, woods, factories, etc. This makes train trips more thorough than those by air. There are several ways to spend time on trains. One could read a book, chat with fellow passengers, watch movies, or even play games. Trains usually provide a friendly atmosphere as people often gel with their fellow passengers and form new friendships.

My Train Journey To Shillong

One of my uncles manages a tea plantation in Shillong. He invited my family to visit during the harvesting season. We decided to go for a vacation. We arrived at the Kolkata train station at 9 am on the scheduled day and bought 3 tickets for the 11 am train. The station has improved significantly since it first started. Coming from Kolkata, it was a lengthy journey.

During my journey on the train, many hawkers entered while I was inside the train. They were selling a variety of goods. Some were selling candies and snacks, others were selling copies of documents, perfumes, and so on. These local railway hawkers were known for their ability to outsell any copywriter with their own sales pitch. They did not use boring or lifeless sales pitches.

While selling goods, some people performed songs while others impersonated politicians. They had a really unique appreciation for books. This journey was one of my core memories as it was my first train journey ever. Me and my family had a lot of fun on the train journey from Kolkata to Shillong.
