An Essay on a Day Without Electricity [PDF]

Essay on a Day Without Electricity feature image

Imagine sitting a dark, confined space in absolute silence and no human being around. That’s how it would feel to live a day without electricity.

Firstly, let me list out what all I would not be able to do. I would have to say goodbye to my daily morning coffee as, without the help of my refrigerator, my milk would have gone bad. And black coffee is an atrocity that I cannot face, forget tasting.

With a grumpy start to my morning, I would enter my washroom to shower only to realize that today would be the day I freeze to death as my instant geyser would not be working.

With my body shivering and my teeth chattering, I would rush to my room only to realize that my phone is on 10 percent battery and my hairdryer will not switch on today. What a miserable situation it would be.

After getting ready somehow, I would rush downstairs to realize that after a long time, I will need to eat some fruit or ready-made items due to the uselessness of my toaster I would have to forgo my usual toast and jam for the day.

As I reach school, I realize it would turn out to be a fun day as due to the absence of electricity, we could be out of our classes for the entire day. It would turn out to be an unintentional picnic by itself. Well, the food may not be up to the mark due to obvious reasons but we would manage with what we have.

The ride back home after our usual class hours would be tiring and sweaty due to the lack of air-conditioning inside the bus, leaving us to battle the city’s humidity and pollution through the panes of our open bus windows.

On a much larger scale, there would be a global crisis as no electricity would mean complete darkness after sunset. It would also lead to a lapse of our economy as online trading and e-commerce would suffer losses of high stakes and fail to record every move or change in numbers and keeping track of the ever-changing stock market would be a whole new nightmare.

It would lead to various complications in the Healthcare industry as most Intensive care units rely on ventilators and various other pieces of equipment that rely on electricity to work and keep patients alive.

On a global stage, there would a standstill situation as getting messages across from one place to another would not be able to take place at a drop of a hat. Likewise, news agencies would have to step down for a day as neither would they be able to shoot any content nor would they be able to broadcast it for a day.

On an industry basis, there would be a huge slow down as almost all technology and machines would shut down for a day leaving production output to zero. Every IT company would face horrors as they would not be able to even implement their basis work for the day, leading to various complications and unwanted situations creating liabilities for the company.

While all of this would be on, there would another face to the entire situation as a whole.

Industries that implement and propagate usage of solar-powered systems would be able to work as usual without any hindrances. For various institutions, sustainable developments would be given first priority and put into use to set off the process of manufacturing again.

And while a majority of the population would miss out on the latest meme, or the launch of the latest song, they would feel a sense of gratification towards having reduced usage of electricity and leading the way to a more sustainable and pollution-free way of life.

So how was this essay on a Day Without Electricity? Please share your thoughts on the comment section.

A Day Without Electricity

Of all the inventions during the last two centuries, the invention of electricity has been the most wonderful and useful. Everywhere we find ourselves amid the. various kinds of appliances based on electricity. But seldom do we realize, how much we depend on it for the comfort of our daily life. This is because electricity is easily available to us. We realize its importance only when for a moment it stops working. I happened to realize its importance and power when in the month of July, we had to go without electricity for a full day.

It was 7.30 p.m. when there was a power break-down following a heavy thunder-storm. It not only uprooted the electric poles but damaged the transformer which supplied electricity to our locality. We had to live in dark for the whole night. We reported to the exchange but the response was more irritating than satisfying, as it would take twelve hours or so to regain the power supply.

We were to a great hardship. At night I could not study, though I tried to study in candle light but found myself unable to concentrate. There was hardly a speck of light visible. The whole colony was enveloped in “eternal gloom”. It looked like the city of the dead. There was no activity in the market too with all the shops closed.

The next morning newspaper reported several cases of accidents and incidents of robbery in various parts of our locality. As in the absence of light robbers had a golden chance to rob. In the absence of street light, the fast moving vehicles collided and led to serious accidents. All the road crossings where automatic signals were installed went out of order.

In school we could hardly concentrate on our lessons. The time seemed to drag on forever while we perspired in the humid atmosphere. On account of electricity failure, we missed our television lesson too. The power failure did not only cause inconvenience to students but to officers, factory owners and factory workers too. The house wives and cinema goers also suffered. As most of the factories had to close down and cinema halls had to postpone their shows.

When after about eighteen hours power supply was restored, I realized, how much we depend on this mysterious force of all machines and modern life.

Introduction

It’s hard to imagine a day without electricity. We rely on it so much that when the power goes out, it can be a real inconvenience. In this essay, we’ll explore what a day without electricity might be like and some of the things we would have to do differently.Topic:

The Pros and Cons of Social Media Intro: social media is a platform that can be used for good and bad. It helps people stay connected and share important news, but it can also be a breeding ground for negativity and drama. In this blog post, we will explore the pros and cons of social media to help you decide if it’s right for you.

A Day in the Life without Electricity

A day without electricity would be very difficult. Most people rely on electricity to power their homes and appliances. Without it, we would have to find other ways to cook our food and stay warm. We would also have to use candles or lanterns for light.

The Aftermath of a Day Without Electricity

A day without electricity can be a hassle. No lights, no air conditioning, and no way to charge your devices. But what if the power outage lasts longer than a day? How do you keep food from spoiling and stay cool in the summer heat?

Here are some tips for dealing with the aftermath of a day without electricity:

  • Keep food in a cooler with ice. If you don’t have a cooler, put food in covered containers and store them in the fridge.
  • Don’t open the fridge or freezer too often. Every time you open them, cold air escapes and warm air enters, hastening the spoilage of food.
  • Use battery-powered fans to stay cool. If it’s really hot, wet a few towels and hang them around the room. The evaporating water will help cool the air.
  • Light candles or use flashlights for light at night. Be careful with candles, though, and make sure they’re extinguished before going to bed.

How to Prepare for a Day Without Electricity

If you live in an area that is prone to power outages, it is important to be prepared. Here are some tips on how to prepare for a day without electricity:

1. Charge all of your devices before the power goes out. This includes your phone, laptop, and any other devices you may need. 2. Fill up your car with gas in case you need to use it for transportation or to generate heat. 3. Have cash on hand in case businesses are not able to accept credit cards. 4. Stock up on non-perishable food items and water so that you have something to eat if the power is out for an extended period. 5. Keep a flashlight and batteries handy so that you can see in the dark if the power goes out at night.

A Day Without Electricity – The Scenario

Most of us cannot imagine a day without electricity. It has become such an integral part of our lives that we cannot do without it. Even for a few hours, a power outage can disrupt our daily routines and cause inconvenience. But what if there was no electricity at all? What would a day without electricity be like?

Imagine waking up in the morning and not being able to switch on the lights or the coffee machine. You would have to get dressed in the dark and eat breakfast by candlelight. Then you would have to find your way to work without any traffic lights or streetlights to guide you. Once you got to work, you would have no computer, no internet and no air conditioning. In fact, most office buildings would be closed because they rely so heavily on electricity.

You would probably spend most of your day outdoors since there would be no TV or internet to keep you indoors. Depending on where you live, it might be quite pleasant outside without all the artificial light and noise pollution. Or it could be swelteringly hot with no fans or air conditioners to cool you down.

At night, things would be even more challenging since there would be no streetlights or headlights to help you see where you’re going. You would have to rely on moonlight and starlight to guide your way home – which could be beautiful but also potentially dangerous if you’re not used to it. Overall, a day without electricity would be very difficult

The Impact of a Power Outage

A power outage can have a major impact on both businesses and individuals. For businesses, a power outage can mean lost revenue and productivity, as well as increased costs from having to use backup generators or other alternative sources of power. For individuals, a power outage can be an inconvenience, but it can also be dangerous if it results in a loss of heat or refrigeration for food. In extreme cases, a power outage can even lead to death.

A day without electricity is a day where we are forced to slow down and connect with the world around us in a different way. It is a day where we are reminded of how much we rely on electricity and how much it has become a part of our lives. For some, a day without electricity can be an inconvenience, but for others, it can be a refreshing change of pace. What would you do if you had to go without electricity for one day?

A Day without Electricity

In an age of machines and a techno savvy generation the above sentence can evoke a shocked response. Rather, it would better be on the lines of —”we don’t won’t to imagine a day like that.” Electricity is an indispensable part of our life today. But supposing you do try and picture that scenario how different could your day be? Initially we would all fret and fume because it seems that life would come to us standstill. But it could also lead us to explore alternative avenues to spend the day.

Television watching would be drastically reduced. People working long hours on the computer could afford to stretch a bit and not be part of the “stiff neck clan’ for a day. Many tasks would have to be done manually and that would drive home the point as to how dependent we are on gadgets for our daily chores. The industrial sector which is largely ‘power driven’ would come to a grinding halt. Essential services like hospitals and transport would be badly affected. But the day could motivate us to take up our activity for which we rarely find time.

Candles, lanterns and earthen lamps would be used to drive away the darkness. Shops selling these would do brisk business and may put up a sign board saying ‘no stock’. Kids could get spooky ideas and enter into a realm of pure fantasy and indulge in pranks that could sometimes scare the daylights out of adults. The night sky would look so different. Stars above, but no neon lights blinking. The roads and the lanes bereft of street lights would look like a ‘no mans land’. Houses would be lit up with candles and lanterns whose flickering light would cast long shadows. Families and friends would sit together chatting or engaged in idle gossip and in-between lament about the fact as to “what a day it has been!”

It could also be used as a time to reflect on how our life sometimes falls into a particular pattern and only rarely do we deviate from it. When an aura of darkness envelops us, a ray of light brings in hope.

Essay on A Day Without Electricity

Essay on A Day Without Electricity

A day without electricity.

The modern world is so entwined with the constant hum of electricity that imagining a day without it seems like a journey into the unknown. Yet, envisioning a day without electricity provides a unique perspective on the simplicity and challenges of life without the conveniences we often take for granted.

As the sun rises on a day devoid of electricity, the absence of alarm clocks disrupts the usual morning routine. Without the electronic wake-up call, we rely on nature’s clock, waking up with the first rays of sunlight. The silence, unbroken by the usual hum of appliances, brings a strange tranquility to the surroundings.

In a world without electricity, the absence of buzzing refrigerators and beeping microwaves necessitates a return to traditional methods of food preservation and preparation. Iceboxes and manual gadgets become our allies, and cooking involves the use of gas stoves or open flames. The simplicity of the process, although time-consuming, brings a certain charm to the kitchen .

Entertainment takes a different form as televisions, computers, and gaming consoles remain dormant. Without the glow of screens, we turn to board games, books, or simply relish the pleasure of conversation with family and friends. The absence of electronic distractions provides an opportunity to rediscover the joy of shared moments.

The workplace undergoes a transformation as well, with the familiar hum of office equipment replaced by the shuffle of papers and the rhythmic tapping of typewriters. Without the luxury of email and instant messaging, communication becomes more deliberate, and face-to-face interactions gain prominence.

As the day progresses, the setting sun marks the end of a day lived without the luxury of electricity. While the challenges are undeniable, the experience offers a glimpse into a simpler, more mindful way of life. The day without electricity reminds us to appreciate the marvels of modern technology while also acknowledging the beauty of a life less reliant on its constant buzz.

essay writing on a day without electricity

Day without Electricity

Today as we live in a world of technology, one of the most basic necessities of life is electricity. Today we cannot imagine living without it. What if there was no electricity for an entire day! How would it feel? Well! It's Sunday morning and there's something different - no electricity the entire day. Life seems to have come to a standstill without electricity. My first custom of the day after waking up is to head towards the bathroom to brush my teeth, and have a shower. I experienced a chill when cold water hit me; I realized there is only cold water available. The geyser was not working as there was no electricity. Feeling refreshed and revitalized after a cold shower, I headed towards the frost free refrigerator for a snack, only to discover that the food in the refrigerator was warm and had been turned into something new. Refrigerators play an important role in food preservation, but without electricity they are useless. Surely a nice, hot cup of coffee would help me forget the ordeal that I was going through till now. So I ran to the coffee vending machine to have a cup of hot coffee, but realized that without electricity the coffee machine was anything but useful. My hopes of having coffee seemed more like a dream. Reading the Sunday newspapers I realized that there would be no electricity supply for the entire day. I could not watch my favourite TV programmes the entire day. The lift in my apartment was not working so I had to trudge up and down nearly becoming breathless. The exercise was helpful no doubt for my fitness! Just when I needed to send some urgent e-mails on my laptop, it shut down and I could not recharge the same. Co-incidentally, the gas also finished and neither did the induction cooker nor the microwave would work on account of power supply failure, and so I had to be satisfied with cold lunch. Well! Thank the weather, it was not so hot that day, or else I would have got roasted in the heat. Eventually, power supply was restored in the evening and the only thing that I could say was - what a relief! The incident also helped me appreciate the value of electricity as an essential resource. Going Off Grid Essay

The ‘Going off Grid” assignment was going to be a challenge to really see how much we rely on technology and electronics on a daily basis just to get us through the day. Not knowing what to think before taking part in this assignment I definitely had my worries that I would not be able to make it through a whole day without using any electronics. This 24-hour period was really eye opening to see how much we do use electronics without giving it a second thought. To start off the day I woke up at 11am, it was irritating not being able to see if I had any notifications on my phone. I decided that I would go make breakfast, usually I have some sort of background noise playing while I am cooking either Netflix or music, although not having that was quite weird to me sitting there in dead silence.

There was no current information at this point about what had occurred, or to explain the light, yet there was growing concern. 250 Words Essay on Life Without Electricity

Life without electricity, a thought that seems almost unthinkable in today’s technologically advanced era, was once the norm. It’s hard to imagine our lives devoid of the conveniences that electricity provides, from lighting to refrigeration, communication to entertainment.

The Impact on Daily Life

Without electricity, our daily routines would drastically change. The absence of electric lighting would alter our sleep-wake cycles, aligning more closely with the natural rhythm of the sun. The lack of electronic communication means returning to traditional methods of correspondence, such as letters, which would slow down the pace of information exchange.

Effects on Industries and Economy

Industries would face a significant blow. Manufacturing processes, reliant on electrical machinery, would have to revert to manual labor, reducing efficiency and output. The economy, in turn, would experience a downturn due to decreased productivity and job losses in sectors heavily dependent on electricity.

Environmental Implications

On the environmental front, a life without electricity could lead to a significant reduction in pollution levels. However, it might also result in increased deforestation and reliance on non-renewable resources for heat and light, such as coal and wood.

In conclusion, while a life without electricity seems daunting, it also offers a perspective on our heavy dependence on it. It underscores the need for sustainable and renewable sources of energy to ensure we can continue to enjoy these conveniences without compromising our planet’s health.

500 Words Essay on Life Without Electricity

The ubiquity of electricity.

Electricity is an indispensable part of modern life, powering everything from our homes to our workplaces, and even our modes of transportation. It is a cornerstone of our civilization, so deeply woven into the fabric of our daily lives that we often take it for granted. Yet, what would life be like without electricity? To fully comprehend this, we must delve into the profound implications it would have on our society, economy, and personal lives.

Impacts on Daily Life

Without electricity, our daily routines would be drastically altered. The absence of electric light would limit our productive hours to daylight, and the lack of electronic devices would mean a return to manual methods of doing work. Communication would be slowed down significantly, reverting to traditional methods such as physical mail. Entertainment would also be affected, as we would no longer have access to television, video games, or the internet. These changes would not only affect our productivity but also our leisure and relaxation.

Effects on Healthcare

In the healthcare sector, the absence of electricity would be catastrophic. Modern medicine relies heavily on electricity-powered equipment for diagnostics, treatment, and research. Without electricity, life-saving operations could not be performed, and the preservation of medicines would become a challenge. This would lead to an increase in mortality rates and a decline in overall public health.

Transportation and Economy

Transportation would also be severely impacted. Electric trains and vehicles would become obsolete, forcing us to rely on more primitive modes of transport. This would slow down the movement of goods and people, affecting global trade and economies. The economic impact would be profound, as industries that rely on electricity for manufacturing would cease to operate. Unemployment would rise, and the global economy could potentially collapse.

Environmental Impact

On the environmental front, life without electricity could have both positive and negative impacts. On the positive side, the cessation of electricity generation from fossil fuels would reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, the reliance on traditional methods like burning wood or coal for heat and light would lead to deforestation and increased air pollution.

In conclusion, life without electricity would be a significant step backward for humanity. It would transform our daily routines, hinder healthcare, disrupt the economy, and alter the environment. While it is crucial to recognize the environmental implications of our current electricity consumption, it is equally important to seek sustainable solutions rather than eliminating electricity altogether. As we ponder this hypothetical scenario, we must also appreciate the comfort and conveniences electricity has brought us and strive to use it responsibly.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

Short Essay on Life Without Electricity:

Life without electricity is unimaginable in today’s modern world. Almost everything we use and need in our daily lives requires access to electricity, from communication devices such as smartphones and computers to household appliances like refrigerators and washing machines.

Without electricity, these devices would be rendered useless, making life extremely difficult. In this essay, we will explore what life would be like without electricity and the impact it would have on our daily routines.

Firstly, one of the most apparent changes in our lives without electricity would be the lack of artificial light.

Before the invention of electricity, people relied on sunlight during daylight hours to complete their tasks. At night, they used candles or oil lamps for light sources. However, these were not as bright and efficient as electric lights. Without electricity, our days would become shorter as we would have to adjust our activities according to sunrise and sunset.

Moreover, reading and studying at night would become a challenge, leading to a decline in education and productivity.

Secondly, life without electricity would also mean the absence of electronic devices. Our dependence on technology has increased tremendously in recent years, and our lives have become much more convenient because of it.

We use laptops to work from home, watch TV for entertainment, and rely on the internet for communication. Without electricity, these devices would become useless piles of metal and plastic.

This would not only affect our personal lives but also have a significant impact on businesses that heavily rely on technology. In today’s digital age, it is almost impossible to imagine life without electricity and electronic devices.

Furthermore, without electricity, access to clean water would also be a challenge. Most of our water supply systems are powered by electric pumps, which distribute clean water from treatment plants to our homes. Without electricity, these pumps would not function, and the only source of water would be natural bodies like lakes and rivers.

This could lead to an increase in water-related diseases and make basic hygiene practices difficult to maintain. Additionally, without electricity, modern plumbing systems would not work, making it challenging to dispose of waste and maintain proper sanitation.

In conclusion, life without electricity would drastically alter our daily routines. Our lives have become so intertwined with this essential resource that it is almost impossible to imagine a world without it.

The absence of artificial light, electronic devices, and access to clean water are just some of the challenges we would face in a world without electricity.

What Would be Life without Electricity:

Electricity has become an integral part of our daily lives. From powering our homes, to running advanced technologies and industries, we heavily rely on electricity for almost everything. But have you ever wondered what life would be like without this modern convenience? Let’s explore what life could be like without electricity.

The Impact of No Electricity on our Daily Lives

Without electricity, our daily routines would drastically change. We wouldn’t have the luxury of turning on a light with just a flick of a switch or using electronic devices to communicate and access information.

Instead, we would have to rely on natural sources of light, such as candles or oil lamps, and traditional forms of communication like letters and telegrams. This would greatly slow down our productivity and make it difficult to stay connected with others.

The Effects on Healthcare

Electricity plays a crucial role in modern healthcare systems. Without electricity, medical equipment such as MRI machines, X-rays, and life-saving devices like ventilators and defibrillators would not function. This could lead to dire consequences for patients who rely on these technologies for treatment or monitoring of their health conditions.

Additionally, without electricity, the refrigeration of medicines and vaccines would also be impossible, making it difficult to store and distribute them. This could lead to widespread outbreaks of preventable diseases.

The Impact on Transportation and Infrastructure

Electricity is also a major source of power for transportation, including trains, subways, and electric cars. Without it, our modes of transport would be limited to human and animal-powered methods such as walking or horse-drawn carriages.

This would greatly slow down travel and make it difficult to transport goods and resources. Furthermore, without electricity to power water treatment plants, sewage systems, and other critical infrastructure, public health would be at risk due to the lack of clean water and proper sanitation.

The Effects on the Economy

The absence of electricity would have a profound impact on the economy, as most industries and businesses rely heavily on it to function. Without electricity, factories and manufacturing plants would be unable to operate, leading to massive job losses and a decline in production.

This could also affect the supply chain, making it difficult for goods to reach markets and consumers. In addition, without electricity to power electronic banking systems, financial transactions would become nearly impossible, significantly impacting global trade and commerce.

In conclusion, life without electricity would be drastically different from the modern world we know. Our daily routines, healthcare systems, transportation and infrastructure, and economy would all be greatly impacted by its absence.

A Day Without Electricity

This essay is being typed on an electric device by someone sitting in a room lit by light bulbs. This system is comfortable and familiar to many people but for many more this is a dream that may take years of back breaking work to turn into reality and even then, it could just as easily never come true. The following is a snapshot of what 24 hours without electricity might feel like.

Waking before the sun rises in pitch darkness, the candles would have to be found and lit by sight. It is harder to get ready without the help of electricity so much more time must be allocated to every task, hence the early rising. If the resources for oil lamps are present these can be lit too but whatever is available would have to do. The clothing for the day would need to be ironed using a non-electric iron which needs constant reheating. If not, wrinkle free clothing must be source or the wearer looks disheveled. On dressing the rest of the day can begin.

Without refrigeration, sourcing food and keeping it edible becomes much more of a challenge. Leftovers become moldy or rotten quite quickly and fresh meat must be cooked and consumed shortly after purchase. Dehydrated fruits, meats and seafood become a huge part of the diet. In a cold country this might not be as harshly felt but in hot regions this could drastically decrease the amount of available calories and lead to unnecessary food wastage.

Without the benefit of electronics, creating music that can be heard by people far away becomes impossible as does participating in jobs that take place predominantly online. The vast store of knowledge that is the internet becomes inaccessible and students and teachers alike struggle with obtaining resources for research.

After dark in a place without electricity, getting home can be very dangerous, especially for women. Without streetlights, the roads become very easy for people with criminal intentions to hide in. Stores are also much less likely to remain open so that the streets become deserted and a valuable source of revenue is lost out on by business owners.

Many aspects of modern life have become so commonplace to us that we barely realize how much they have changed what we can do and how we do it. To live without electricity for even a day would be a challenge.

A Day Without Electricity: What Would You Do?

' src=

Imagine a day without electricity. No electricity, no light bulb, no fan, no air conditioner, no access to any electrical appliance, it seems horrible right? We all know that electricity is an essential part of our daily life. Electricity has made our life very comfortable. Without electricity it is impossible to have a smooth lifestyle. Even the article you are reading right now would not have been possible without electricity.

We are completely dependent on electricity for our daily work, weather it is household work like washing or your daily job like working on a computer. From houses to factories to offices and hospitals electricity is required everywhere.

If there’s  a power cut for even one day it will be a massive problem. Factories and industrial work will stop. Production and many other things will stop. We will have to work under the candle light and no fans and air conditioner in summers. It’s hard to imagine to live without electricity for even one day isn’t it? In other words world runs on electricity but think about the people in many of the rural areas who don’t have access to electricity yet and areas where electricity is provided for few hours. Life must be very tough there, No access to any electrical appliances, not even a light bulb or fan.

Differences in urban and rural life due to electricity

In cities and urban areas life is very easy and comfortable as compared to rural areas. Urban areas are provided with twenty four hours of electricity. One can easily wash clothes in washing machine, can get cold water from refrigerator, use laptops and mobile phones, everything on the snap of their finger. But on the other hand life is tough in rural areas because of limited or no supply of electricity. A huge gap is created between urban areas and rural areas because of electricity.

In rural areas life is very difficult as they aren’t able to use several electrical gadgets because of the power cuts and very limited supply of electricity. Because of no electricity access to water is also difficult in rural areas. In current situation because of covid all the educational institute are running online but students in rural areas find it very difficult to attend the classes due to lack of electricity.

Years of struggling has made people in rural areas use to live without electricity. They don’t have any worries regarding to electricity because they are habitual of living without it, but what about urban areas? Forget about one day it’s difficult for people to live without electricity even for few hours. Urban life is so much dependent on electricity.

If we go hundred years back in past when there was no electricity in country. We think that life would have been difficult at that time but no, life was just as smooth as it is now. People were habitual of doing all their work without electricity. Introduction of electricity made their life more easy and it kept on making it easier and comfortable but don’t you think it has spoiled us? Humans are so much dependent on electricity that living without electricity for even one day is tough.

Dependence of humans on electrical appliances

World has become very advanced in technology but none of them will work without electricity. Nowadays everything runs online on our phones but without electricity phones can’t be used. In urban areas access of water is difficult if there’s a power cut. We need electrical appliances for all our works for example washing machine for washing clothes, laptops and mobile phones, light bulbs, fans, television, heaters and the list goes on. We are completely dependent on electrical appliances nowadays.

Overall we can say that electricity has became an essential part of our daily life just like water and air. World has become full of advanced technology but all the technologies run on electricity. From households to industries electricity is required everywhere. Electricity is so important but still there are rural areas where there is no electricity or very limited supply of electricity.

On the other hand urban areas are provided with 24 hours of electricity making the life of people living in urban areas very easy and comfortable as compared to areas but at the same time creating a huge gap in between. Humans are dependent on electrical appliances for almost all the works which somewhat spoiled us. Life will turn very hard if there will be no electricity so we should save electricity for our future.

Benjamin Franklin: A World Without Electricity

Bam! Imagine living in a world without electricity. Most people today, don't even think about that. Most people today, don't even know how electricity was came to be. Benjamin Franklin, as smart as he is, did not invent electricity himself, but he had a key role in discovering what it has been broken down into today. Benjamin Franklin gave us many electrical terms that we used today like the "battery", "charge", "conductor", "condenser", and the "armature." First of all, lights run on electricity. Lights revolve around our classrooms, homes, and the places that we work at. Imagine sitting in your room at night without lights, of course you would feel lonely, but by having electricity, you feel comforted. Also, without lights we would be living in complete darkness. It is like having a flashlight with no battery, we cannot live without it. Lights help us in everyday life and in the world today are very important. Secondly, cars run on a battery. The battery in the car runs on electricity and helps the engine get started. Imagine not having cars. People don't really think about this, but without cars the world would be filled with many depressed spirits. Without cars, we would…

A Day Without Electricity

In this day in age most people are living in an ultra modern world, we are depending on electricity for our everyday lives becoming a basic necessity. We have come so adapted to this way of living if one day we did not have electricity we would become lost and have difficulty with our everyday lives. So how would a life of an average person change? Now we can’t think life without electricity. We may think it might be easy but we truly depend on electricity everyday. From starting in the morning till late at night our lives would change drastically if there were no electricity for us to use. Unless you have a rooster in your backyard you might have difficulty of getting to school. Without alarm clocks or smartphones we would need to be dependent on our own internal clocks to start our day. Once you have woken up you quickly feel a very cold chill. You than get up to look if there is any windows open but you remember that there is no heat, you than have to go outside in the -40 weather and get logs for a wood fire. Without our furnaces or air conditioning systems we would need to have wood stoves in our homes and refill them with wood every couple hours, which would take some time and energy than just touching a button to adjust the temperature. Next you go to the washroom and quickly jump in the shower because you know that you are late for school you than realize that there is no warm water. You are now running really late for school but you still haven’t had breakfast yet so you run to the refrigerator and pour some milk and pop a bagel into the toaster, you than take a sip of your milk and its warm and sour. Without electricity making breakfast would become more difficult and to make quickly, you would need to make meals in... ... middle of paper ... ...at there is no electricity so you than grab a candle and light it so you can continue your book. It is past your bedtime and you are tired, before you go to bed you refill the wood stove so you don’t wake up freezing like this morning. Before you go to bed you think about how much we use electricity on a day-to-day basis and how much we depend on it to make our lives easier. Electricity has become a basic necessity for most people all over the world. We are depending on electricity for our everyday lives and if one day we did not have electricity we would have difficulty going through the day. I think we need to be more dependent on things that do not use electricity and only use electricity sometimes as a treat so just in case if one day electricity all goes away we could still live comfortably and still have a great life even without it. Verlyn Klinkenborg's Falling Stars, Where Are You?

It is hard for our new generations to live with no light. They have been used to artificial light since they were born. Even though, in the older times people had more children but they still used candles. Cutting down completely on all artificial light would be great, but that’s impossible to happen. Technology is going to keep improving. However, if we don’t stop and try to cut down on some of the lighting we use, there will be consequences. Our upcoming generations might not be able to see stars in the sky anymore.

How Can the United States Lessen its Dependence on Fossil Fuels?

The greatest impact on reducing dependence on fossil fuels could begin at home. All around us are devices that consume energy even as we do nothing with them. Known colloquially as “vampire power”, these devices in standby power mode continue to consume energy as they are never actually “off”. Studies by Ross and Meier (2001) have shown that the average household can have up to 40 different devices consuming energy, from clocks to microwaves and DVD players to television, these devices add up to, between, 5% and 26% of the total electricity consumption in a household – energy likely produced at the cost of burning fossil fuels, both in production of the electricity and the transportation of the fuels themselves.

Personal Energy Audit Lab

We are dependent on energy for almost everything in our lives. When the outside temperature rises a little, we immediately switch on the air conditioner to keep our house cool. This is using up of energy. We have starting taking things for granted and we have started wasting energy unnecessarily. Energy is limited and hence to maintain the quality of life, it is important that we use our energy resources wisely. If we do not conserve energy, the energy will exhaust and we will have nothing to use.

Comparing The Veldt And There Will Come Soft Rain

Imagine what it would be like if everyone used technology to do all of their daily tasks. In the stories The veldt by Ray Bradbury he shows how people can get if they only have technology taking care of them, and in There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury he also shows that if we forget to take care of ourselves we will all die.

The Viability of Fission and Fusion for our Planet

As the global population increases exponentially, having passed six billion in 1999, the world population is expected to be 8.9 billion by the year 2050. The worlds energy consumption will increase by an estimated 54 percent by 2025. Energy demand in the industrialized world is projected to grow 1.2 percent per year. Energy is a critical component of sustained economic growth and improved standards of living. One of the major requirements for sustaining human progress is an adequate source of energy. As the world’s technological enhancements and standards of living improve, so too does their appetite for electricity.

The Damnation Of A Canyon by Edward Abbey

Today, having power is what everybody in this country relies on day to day and couldn't function without it. Every year more and more dams are being built and more man made reservoirs are being created to provide this electricity needed. These dams are very important in my eyes but Edward Abbey carries a different opinion in his writing "The Damnation of a Canyon."

Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy

Our country is currently suffering energy-wise, we have been powering with inefficient sources for years now and the harm that it is doing to the country has started to become apparent. Renewable energy is the only way to stop, or at the very least set back the inevitable downfall of our ecosystem. I think that the next big breakthrough for renewable energy is implementing off-grid communities that use renewable sources as their main sources of power, so that we can potentially escape the energy rut that we got ourselves stuck in.

Electrical Dependency of California: Problem and Solution

Californians depend on electricity. It powers everything from the phone we use to the freezer that stores goods at the local grocery store. Electricity is part of the infrastructure of California, similar in nature to water supply and food supply. Without the electrical grid system, urbanized society will not function. Electricity is a commodity and a necessity. However, recent failures in power supply due to man-made errors and harsh weather question the stability of the power system.

Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Power

“Where does our power come from?”, when asked, many people would not know the answer to this question. Some might say wind, water, or solar, but the main providers of America’s power are coal plants and nuclear reactors running to keep the lights on. Unfortunately, there is no free energy, it comes at a cost to the environment and its inhabitants. So when the choice arises to change the way humanity looks at our consumption of power, why choose the way we do things? Because the time has come for us as a country and the world to make the switch from the old to the new.

Living Off The Grid

Platt, John. “Going off the grid: Why more people are choosing to live life unplugged.” Mother Nature

Dystopia's in the Opening Passages of "1984" and "The Handmaid's Tale"

In even the first page of 1984 the reader is met by an ominous intrusion into the life of Winston Smith by the mention of the electrical current being shut off during daylight hours. This seems odd in itself, seeing that Winston is a free citizen of Oceania and the fact that there was no electricity as part of a collective economy drive indicates a domineering government intruding even into the electricity levels of the city.

Persuasive Essay On Coal Pollution

We depend on energy; nothing in our daily lives could be possible without it. Electricity primarily comes from burning fossil fuels or using nuclear reactors. But the plain truth is, we are running out of fossil fuels. Our known oil deposits will run out in approximately 35 years, and if we increase the use of natural gas and coal to make up for the energy loss, our natural gas will last for 45 years and coal deposits will deplete in 75 years.

Solar Panels At My House

When picking an energy resource for the topic of this paper, I bounced around a lot of ideas. Then it occurred to me that I should write about what I will be living with in about a month. My mom just finished designing and building our earthbag, solar, off-grid house, a four-year endeavor. I will soon live in a place powered by one of the most common alternative energy resources, solar energy, so I should learn more about it.

Positive Impacts of Technology

The standard 21 year old adults have exchanged 250 thousand emails, spent 5 thousand hours video gaming and 10 thousand hours using their mobile devices (Lei, 2009). When people hear the word technology, they think of microwaves, televisions, cars, NASA, different types and transportation and more. For all that, technology has occurred long ahead these discoveries. Technology is an arguable matter amongst people. .In the old days, people lived an extremely simple life without technology. They used candles to light their houses and lanterns at the dark to travel, they used fire to cook and used newspapers and mail to share news. On the other hand, technology has seized an important place in our society. People are living in a stage of progressive technology. They are using all natural reserves applicable for making their lives better and easier. The society cannot picture life without electricity since it allows them to live through their everyday life. This paper argues that technology positively impacts people’s lives.

The first feeling was when my eyes were closed was that how can i do everyday life activity but after an hour I was comfortable being blind. This made me think that if I was really blind and how could makes my life goes on easily by not worrying that I am not going to bump into obstacles. My first accomplishment was I successfully walk from Ms.Kate class to the toilet by not using my helper and able to use the toilet fluently. I was confident that be able to walk fluently. This made know the feeling of the person who is blind and if a see a blind person I will be happy to know that they can live their life by not have their eye but it able them to be a good listener to us. People that don’t really know how the feeling of being blind is but if you try like what I do. They think being blind is easy for blind people but it is hard for them at first that they know that they are blind. It is difficult for them to adapt from having eyes to not having eyes. They needs time to be comfortable without having their and some people treat them badly. After all, being blind for them is harder then when you have an eyes. Being blind for a day made me understand how hard to be blind to inspire me that to take cares of your eye and use my eye wisely.
