  • Search for the information that may be related to the problem you have selected. Remember to ask your professor about the types of sources you can use. • Do not focus on the information you have found during your preliminary research solely. It is important to state your personal opinion in the paper and support it with evidence. Avoid repeating the points mentioned in the literature without adding your commentary on them.
  • Remember that an outstanding essay should be easy-to-understand. Avoid using unnecessary complex sentences, and define all terms that you want to include. Your goal should be not to show your knowledge but raise the audience’s awareness of the issue you are discussing.
  • A globalization essay conclusion should include all of the important points you have made throughout the paper. You can also provide recommendations in this paragraph if necessary.
  • Make sure that you use correct grammar and sentence structures in your essay. Grammatical mistakes may make the reader think that your opinion is not credible. It is better to check the essay several times before sending it to your professor.

9 Examples Of Outstanding Dissertation Topics On

Globalization is the concept of culture, knowledge and experience no longer being restricted to its original location in the world, but can now be transferred globally via various means as a result of advancements in our communications and transportation technology. Previously isolated countries and cultures are now easily able to interact with the entire population of the world, form trade relationships and share ideas. Here are nine examples of dissertation topics on globalization:

  • Threat to tradition

Many traditions are kept alive by being passed from parent to offspring for generations. As children today are exposed to the internet and television, they may not want to follow traditions since they have so many other, more interesting distractions.

  • Interracial marriages

Historically most countries were made up of a population of a specific race, with very little variation. As people from different locations are easier able to meet and communicate, the rate of multiracial marriages has increased.

  • New type of relationships

Before you had to arrange a date with a romantic interest and meet at the predetermined location to pursue the relationship. This is no longer necessary, two people can meet via video chat from completely different locations.

  • Changing religious views

Some religions have been isolated for generations and only recently has the followers been exposed to other forms of spiritual practices. Though, no religion has been completely dissolved yet, there are many converts due to globalization.

  • Objectification of things considered holy

Some cultures have sacred practices that may seem quite weird to the rest of the world. When images or videos of these people are seen by foreigners, a curiosity rush can be created sometimes forcing these people into hiding.

  • Human trafficking

Exotic females spark interest and desire in some men and so a market is created, one that illegally supplies these men with the exotic fantasies they desire.

  • Business opportunity

Developed countries often have access to common items that are rare in other, less fortunate locations. Many business investments have been known to flourish in newly discovered economies.

  • Health risks

It is much easier for someone to travel from one country to another and take any disease they may be afflicted with to the new destination.

  • Trade of labor

The population of a less developed country is often willing to work for much less than those in wealthy countries and so the labor trade is very common today.

Dissertation in globalisation and multinational corporations.

dissertation topics on globalisation

Key information

Module overview.

An initial dissertation research proposal (1,500 words) is submitted in Term 1 (Term 1, Year 1 for Part Time students), allowing for the allocation of academic supervisors, followed by a 15,000 word dissertation which must be submitted by 8 September in the final year of study.

Dissertation topics can be wide-ranging reflecting the breadth of disciplines and topics, including the fields of public policy, advocacy, economics, international law and multinational enterprises.

Objectives and learning outcomes of the module

The research and writing of the MSc dissertation is a crucial component of postgraduate study. At the end of the module, students will have:

  • A solid foundational knowledge of the relevant theories and their application to a particular area of political and economic management and regulation of multinational corporations.
  • A comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of the role and dynamics of large corporations in the global economy and international affairs.
  • Developed the skills to pursue independent research from secondary and in some cases primary sources in this field.
  • Learned how to organise their data and articulate their arguments coherently and clearly.

There will be an initial introductory lecture at the beginning of Term 1.

Through Term 1 students will be supported by dedicated Tutors through the VLE, and peer support throughout. Students will develop key research skills, and an awareness of research methods through these supported activities.

Each student will have the opportunity for three 1hr supervision sessions with their supervisors.

Scope and syllabus

The dissertation is a core module of the MSc in Global Corporations & Policy; and will be taught through a variety of approaches.

The submission of the research proposal allows for allocation of supervisors by the module convening team and the supervision to begin (The allocation takes place annually in January, allowing approximately 9 months FT or 21 months PT 2 yr). On the basis of supervised research the student is expected to write a 15,000 word dissertation which:

  • meets acceptable standards of academic writing and presentation;
  • shows a critical understanding of the relevant literature;
  • illustrates develops a focused and clear argument, supported by the relevant use of theoretical material and evidence;
  • makes an original contribution to the area of research;

The original component of the dissertation can be satisfied in a number of ways, among them, the presentation of new data/evidence, (re)analysis or further development of existing analyses, and the critical re-evaluation or re-interpretation of existing theoretical material with reference to the topic of focus

Method of assessment

15% dissertation research proposal. Each student will submit a 1,500 word dissertation proposal in December of Term 1 (Term 1, Year 1 for all Part Time students).

85% dissertation. Each student will submit a dissertation of no more than 15,000 words in September of their final year of study. Re-submission of coursework regulations apply.

Critical Perspectives on International Business

ISSN : 1742-2043

Article publication date: 12 October 2020

Issue publication date: 12 August 2021

The rise of the global economy has been an essential element in the international business (IB) agenda since the 1980s, and the topic of globalisation has not failed to captivate the attention of IB researchers and practitioners alike. Globalisation has impacted on such diverse issues as trade relations, geopolitical boundaries, social class, human rights, environmental commitments, religion, ethnicity, sovereignty and conservation of culture. The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the current state of IB research on the topic of globalisation and to guide researchers who are new to IB research as to which journals and authors to consult when studying this phenomenon.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper presents a bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science database. A multiple correspondence analysis provides a map of keywords and authors, as well as a framework to track the globalisation literature over the 26-year period, 1993–2018.

The findings identify several fundamental themes and significant gaps in the extant literature; the most alarming gap centres around the effect of globalisation on social issues and, consequently, the rise of the anti-globalisation crusaders.

Research limitations/implications

The literature review produced 529 articles listed only in the Web of Science Core Collection in the period 1993–2018.

Practical implications

A distinctive contribution of this study is that it investigates the intersection between globalisation and IB. This paper seeks to expose the intellectual structure of globalisation research, identify existing and emerging themes of globalisation research and discuss future research streams.

  • Social implications

The findings show the rise of the globalisation sceptic and reveal the mounting concerns regarding the unequal benefits of globalisation.

Originality/value

There are two key benefits of this review. First, the theory extends by identifying a swing from an alignment with the transformationalist theory to sceptical theory. Second, the review has the potential to guide scholars on precisely what needs to be explored in IB globalisation research.

  • Hook . Start with an intriguing piece of information that makes your audience interested in reading your text. You can cite some shocking statistics or tell a little-known fact.  Only 1 of 7 billion people on the planet live in comfortable conditions.
  • Background information. The next 1-3 sentences need to contain the necessary info about the topic the readers need to know before continuing with your paper.  It may seem like a small number, but it is enormous compared to the situation humanity faced 100 years ago. However, with the rise of globalization, people started learning more and more about those living abroad. Citizens of countries with poor living conditions discovered that their lives could be much better. This discovery forced some governments to improve their citizens’ state of being by using rich foreign countries as an example.

Some of the essential variables that researchers can use include:

  • Economic variables: The global economy is an essential aspect of globalization, and studying economic variables is a crucial part of understanding globalization. Researchers can use economic variables such as trade flows, foreign direct investment, income inequality, and labor mobility to study the economic impact of globalization.
  • Cultural variables: Cultural variables are an essential component of globalization. Students can utilize variables such as language, religion, art, music, and cuisine to study the cultural impact of globalization. For instance, studying the spread of American culture through Hollywood movies and popular music could be a variable to investigate.
  • Political variables : Political variables are also critical in understanding globalization. Researchers can analyze variables such as international institutions, trade agreements, political stability, and governance to study the political impact of globalization.
  • Social variables: Social variables such as education, health, and social welfare can also be used to study globalization. For instance, studying the impact of globalization on health outcomes in different parts of the world could be a research variable.
  • Technological variables: Technological variables are also essential in understanding globalization. Researchers can exploit variables such as the internet, social media, and other communication technologies to study the impact of globalization on communication and information sharing.

Once researchers have identified the research variables they will use to study research topics related to globalization, they must also consider how they will measure or observe these variables. There are several ways that researchers can measure or observe variables , including:

  • Surveys: Surveys are a popular method for measuring variables in social science research. Surveys can be used to collect data on variables such as attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.
  • Interviews: Interviews are another method for measuring variables in social science research. Interviews help to collect in-depth data on variables such as experiences, opinions, and perceptions.
  • Observations: Observations involve watching and recording behavior in a natural or controlled setting. Observations is one of the crucial ways to study variables such as social behavior and cultural practices.
  • Experiments: Experiments involve manipulating one or more variables to determine their effect on other variables. Researchers can conduct experiments to study variables such as economic behavior and decision-making.
  • Secondary data analysis: Secondary data analysis involves analyzing existing data that was collected for another purpose. The students or scholars can employ secondary data analysis to study variables such as economic indicators, demographic trends, and health outcomes.

Conceptualising Globalisation LL.M. Law & Justice in a Globalising World

Profile image of Shriram Tiwary

Globalization is the spread of products, technology, information, and jobs across national borders and cultures. In economic terms, it describes an interdependence of nations around the globe fostered through free trade. Briefing of Both Research Paper on CONCEPTUALISING GLOBALISATION Since one and half decade globalization is changing rapidly and pointed the world at single place due to interconnection of economies. Some of the concepts came into light after globalization they are homogenization (same product), differentiation, hybridization (different type of product), plurality, localism etc.Globalization gave a mixed concept which is glocalisation. Robertson traced the phases of globalization through five phases: 1. Germinal Phase (1400-1750): the time of germination of new concepts like nationalism in Europe. In my opinion, it includes Renaissance period i.e. printing press, enhancement of trade, new connections were established. It was a period of nationalism, economies of several countries were started connecting. 2. The incipient (1750-1875): It was a phase of revolution, French revolution, American Revolution, initial phase of internationalism. 3. The take off (1875-1925): The world transformed into a single international society.Gobal calendar, First World War and due to this international migration occurred and this invited the global calendar with itself. 4. The struggle for hegemony (1925-1965): Emergence of third world war, organization like World Bank, and International Monetary fund, GATT, cold-war and UNO. 5. The certainty (1969-1992)/Phase of new-era, space of new technology, global mass-media. In the late 80s and early 90s, different incidents took place, like cold war, collapse of Berlin wall. Due to all the events, thoughts of western liberal economic spread. European commission has given a definition that market & production is increasing and trade of goods and services are interdependent. Heinrich Karl Marx Perspective of Globalization: Marx criticized capitalism and supported socialism. According to Marx theory, capitalism has its profound impact on social knowledge. He asserted that economic activities should be controlled by state. Karl Marx and Engles said that the market expanding on the globe is regulated by one group i.e. Bourgeoisie (Capitalist) according to Marx imperialism is an instrument to present state of Globalization. Wallerstien widened the Marxist theory and gave a world system theory refers to the divisior of the world into three economic categories of core, semi-periphery and periphery He was criticized because he did not suggested the global unification. According to UNDP, globalization expand the opportunities for unprecedented human advance for some but shrinks those opportunity for others.

The Scale of Globalization: Think Globally, Act Locally, Change Individually in the 21st Century

Gabriel Eštok

This work presents globalization as a historical process. We analyze and present some pieces of work of authors writing about globalization. This work is based on qualification of J. A. Scholte. We divide these authors to different groups according to period, when their works were written. The first group consists of authors who consider globalization as a historical process and this group is divided into two subgroups: authors who talk about globalization as an historical and linear process and authors who see globalization as an historical and cyclical process. The second group consists of authors who claimed that globalization is a process arising in the present. On the basis of this classification we present historical aspects of globalization which, in our opinion, appeared on the different levels in the human past, e.g. in integration processes, in politics, in economics, in society etc. in the antiquity, in the Middle Ages and in the modern times. In this paper we analyzeseveral cases of globalization based on selected indicators. We attempt to determine whether this phenomenon can be characterized as new, old or cyclically repeating. We conclude that aspects of globalization which are characteristic for globalization in the present, appeared in remote past and they repeat in human history cyclically. Key words: globalization, cyclical phenomenon, new phenomenon, linear phenomenon.

This paper focus on the historical and contemporary globalization. It attempts to show how different scholars define Globalization in different perspectives. Globalization as a phenomena represents various processes of expansion across continents based on migration, trade, warfare, military alliances, conquest, exploration, colonization and technological advancement. Thus, it has a complex relationship with various contemporary aspects including the economic and financial dimension, the scientific and technological dimension and the interdependence of dimension. Generally, the aim of this paper is to analyse the similarities and differences of the two opposing school of thought (historical and contemporary) which view globalization as a process. This paper challenges the existentialist assumptions of the concept of globalization that are sacrosanct and frozen.

Globalization is support by integration. Both represent the progressive connection and the interaction for the development of the human societies. The European Union represents a symbol of globalization, in order to realise the transition to a " United States of Europe " in which the fundamental stick is the prosperity based on market economy. The paper deals with the most urgent and important problems of the world under globalization. The next part of the paper analyses the conceptual limits of the globalization. Globalization represents a step of the general process of the human socioeconomic and cultural development. Nowadays, globalization has to face with new challenges. An important actor in globalization process is world trade. We consider that only the world trade isn't able to resolve the challenges of the globalization. We concluded that globalization generates economic growth but it generates a status quo too. The poverty is not a result of an excessive globalization. It is a result of an insufficient globalization. The end of the 20 th century and the beginning of the 21 st century are marked by two complex and dynamic processes: globalization and integration. These processes argue the interdependence and the progressive connection in order to develop human society. This tendency is obvious in economic and politic climates, because economy and policy are able to allow the actions of a lot of actors; their effects are easy to see and to calculate in ordinary lifetime [1]. As a result, globalization represents the modality or the system of response and long term approach of the great contemporary problems which are determined by a lot of interconnected economic, ethnic, politic, social and cultural phenomena and processes. The solutions for these processes have to be found by the international community [2]. Globalization is able to dissolve the traditional economic, politic and social connections based on hierarchic public authority and to replace them with a horizontal structure, which is a flexible network leaded by a supranational power.

Mehlika Fathima

Jonathan V Beaverstock

Although in its simplistic sense globalization refers to the widening, deepening and speeding up of global interconnectedness, such a definition begs further elaboration. ... Globalization can be located on a continuum with the local, national and regional. At one end of the continuum lie social and economic relations and networks which are organized on a local and/or national basis; at the other end lie social and economic relations and networks which crystallize on the wider scale of regional and global interactions. Globalization can be taken to refer to those spatio-temporal processes of change which underpin a transformation in the organization of human affairs by linking together and expanding human activity across regions and continents. Without reference to such expansive spatial connections, there can be no clear or coherent formulation of this term. ... A satisfactory definition of globalization must capture each of these elements: extensity (stretching), intensity, veloci...

The field of business is vast and interrelated to so many other academic disciplines like  civil engineering ,  construction ,  law , and even  healthcare . That is why creating a business dissertation topic that is articular, sound, and actually solves a practical problem that may be rampant in the field is imperative.

We can’t stress how important it is to develop a logical research topic; it is the basis of your entire research. There are several significant downfalls to getting your topic wrong; your supervisor may not be interested in working on it, the topic has no academic creditability, the research may not make logical sense, there is a possibility that the study is not viable.

This impacts your time and efforts in  writing your dissertation , as you may end up in the cycle of rejection at the very initial stage of the dissertation. That is why we recommend reviewing existing research to develop a topic, taking advice from your supervisor, and even asking for help in this particular stage of your dissertation.

While developing a research topic, keeping our advice in mind will allow you to pick one of the best business dissertation topics that fulfil your requirement of writing a research paper and add to the body of knowledge.

Therefore, it is recommended that when finalizing your dissertation topic, you read recently published literature to identify gaps in the research that you may help fill.

Remember- dissertation topics need to be unique, solve an identified problem, be logical, and be practically implemented. Take a look at some of our sample business dissertation topics to get an idea for your own dissertation.
