It was a cloudy day when I took my first step into the compound of my school. I was carrying a new backpack that was filled with notebooks. Though the backpack was a bit heavy, instead of focusing on the weight, I was excited about the beginning of my journey on my first day in school.

My classroom was at the end of the corridor. As I entered my classroom, my class teacher introduced me to the class and made me feel welcome. Activities like reading, solving problems in groups, and sharing our lunch boxes slowly and steadily transformed the new student with a sense of belonging.

The whole day progressed with mixed excitement as well as emotions. As the bell rang, declaring the end of the school day, the school felt like a world of possibilities where the journey was more than textbooks.

The corridor was filled with the echo of students. As I entered the classroom, wearing a mix of curiosity and excitement, my classmates and class teacher welcomed me with a warm smile. After a round of introductions and some warm-up activities, strangers gradually started tuning into potential friends. At lunchtime, the cafeteria was filled with the smell of delicious food. However, I hesitated before joining the group of students but soon enough, I was laughing with my new friends and sharing stories. The unfamiliar were now my friends and transformed my mixed emotions into delightfulness.

My First Day at School

Essay No. 01

After about two months of summer vacation, our school reopened on the 16th of July, the 15th of July being the Sunday. After a long relaxation of two months inhabits to wake up late in the morning, I got up early in the morning. I took my breakfast and left for school. The school was to open at 9 a.m.

On one hand, I seemed to be quite enthusiastic to be again with my friends whom I really missed during the vacation but on the other, I seemed to be averse to the routine of the school which was not so exhilarating for its disciplined code of attending classes and reading lessons, solving sums and doing laboratory work Still there was something which made this routine somewhat worth doing.

On the way to school, I met my friends. Everyone looked cheerful. As we reached the school gate, we heard the ringing of the call bell. We first buried to our classrooms to keep our bags and then to prayer ground to attend the prayer. At the end of the prayer, our Principal addressed the boys. In his address, the Principal mentioned Wordsworth’s observation, “A twig is bent, so the tree will grow”. In relation to tender and delicate students he said that the minds of students were like photographic plates, whatever impressions are left on them, they retain it. So he advised us to cast the impressions which would include love of the motherland, devotion to duty, regularity, and punctuality. Then at the end of his address, we all went to our classes.

On the first day, we did not have our regular studies. Most of the teachers were busy with new admissions. Moreover, the students were also not in the mood to study. The students were talking about their experiences of the summer vacation. I told them about my visit to Ajanta, Allora, and stay in Nanital for a fortnight. In school, 1 found a large number of changes, broken window panes had been replaced, rooms were whitewashed and the furniture repaired. Everything looked new. The thing which I liked most was the water cooler, which was a great comfort to us in summer.

While we were enjoying gossiping in the class, the bell announced the beginning of the recess period. This year a new canteen was installed in the school. It was run by ‘Students Cooperative Society”. I went to the canteen with my friends. The tea, coffee, cold drinks, and snacks all were available at cheap rates. I had a cold drink and some snacks there. In the meantime, the call bell rang and we all went back to our classes.

After the fifth period, all the students assembled in the hall. The new corners were seated on the stage. At first, the Principal welcomed the new students. Some of them seemed to be very active and smart. They told about their likings and hobbies, which were admirable. In the end, the Principal welcomed the teachers. Soon the function came to an end. returned home with the sweet and happy memories of the day.

Essay No. 02

My first day at school was the beginning of my life. The day was significant for me and my family. My father had been looking forward to this day with great hope as he wanted that I should adjust in my class and rise in life, through hard work and co-operation.

Early that morning there was much stir in the family. My elder brother was particularly happy. That made him look responsible as I was kept under his charge. My father bought candies and we proceeded towards the school.

I was taken to the Principal’s office. The Principal was a big man with heavy, and bushy eyebrows. I almost dreaded him in the beginning. But soon I found that under those bushy eyebrows he had one of the softest pairs of eyes. And he spoke softly. He patted my back and asked me questions. I answered his questions without any feeling of fear. He talked to my father. Then my father took me to another gentleman who I learnt later was my class teacher.

He was tall, lean, and bespectacled. He greeted my father. He stretched his long arm and took me under his arm. He talked politely to me. My -father gave him the packet of candies and requested him to introduce me to the class and distribute the candies among my classmates. My father then took leave of him.

My teacher took me to my class. He told the boys that I was their new classmate. He then distributed the candies my father had given to him.

I was given a seat in the class. It was a new place and soon I started feeling lonely. Nobody in the class was known to me and no one talked to me. By recess time I was almost fed up with my school. I wanted to go home. The bell rang for recess. The boys from all the classes ran out. They flooded the school courtyard. But I stood alone in the crowd of strangers. I still remember how small I was then. Being unable to bear it any longer I began to cry. It was only a few minutes but it seemed ages before in brother arrived there. With him was another boy whose brother was also studying in my class. He brought him and introduced him to me. This was my first acquaintance in school. After the recess, we re-entered the classroom.

My teacher was told how I had cried during recess. He spoke politely to me. I liked him. I liked my new acquaintance also. Soon I felt calm and since that day I had never cried in school.

My First Day in School

When I passed class V, my father took me to Jain Happy Senior Secondary School, Daryaganj, Delhi.  My father took us there in his car. The sight of the grand building made me nervous. I entered the main gate. Many boys were sitting there in a group.

We went to the Principal. My father had a talk with him. My father filled out the admission form. He admitted me to the sixth standard. Then my father left for his office.

My elder brother was in the 8th grade in the same school. I still remember my first day in school. It was an interesting day for me. I was nine years old at that time.

There were about 3o students in the class. They were in their uniforms. They were reading the first lesson from the English Book. The class teacher was kind. She made me sit in the first row. She introduced me to other boys. Then there was teaching for four periods. The students were nice and friendly.

At recess, I went to the canteen. My brother was already there. We had our refreshment together. We played with toys.

At 12.30 the bell rang, and the school was over. My mother came to take me home. I always remember my first day in school.

Essay No. 04

Life is full of new experiences. One of them is going to school for the first time.

A school is a place of learning for a child, where they form new associations and come in contact with other children of their age, who may be of different temperaments or status from each other but are placed equally. It is here that they prepare themselves for their future life. This is the reason it is said that the education received in the school is the foundation of a child’s career.

I remember I was only five when I first went to school. I was very excited. It was a primary school. The experience of the first day at school is still fresh in my mind after all these years.

I was admitted to the K.G. Class. The school was small with eight rooms and there were about twelve or fifteen teachers in total.

My Class Teacher Miss Gupta was a very nice and soft-spoken lady who treated all the children like her own. Since I was a bit nervous in the new environment, she encouraged me to open up with the other students of the class.

In school, I got my first lesson on the alphabet in English and after those other lessons on Hindi and Maths. But the lesson I enjoyed most was the drawing, in which we could play with the colours. I also enjoyed other activities like clay modeling, building things with blocks. I would especially like to mention the fun I had on different types of rides and swings.

My first day at school was full of joy.

Whenever I ponder over my school days, the reflection takes me to a meek quiet boy. A reserve guy with quiet habits, feeling shy of everything. I find him dressed in khaki shorts and a white shirt, a pair of bright shining shoes with white socks. Well combed hair and slightly oiled face may be due to perspiration or nervousness. My father was transferred to Jalandhar from Shimla. The transfer came in the mid-session of the fourth class. I moved quite extensively from corner to corner with my father for admission, but everywhere, the answer was negative. It was after laborious efforts that D.A.V. Public School accepted to accommodate me in the new class.

In the next stage, my father left me at the school gate the next day and asked me, to proceed to my class. He perhaps felt that I was grown up enough to protect my own interest. I was moving towards the stairs with a very heavy and hesitant mind. Nobody was known to me except my class teacher who examined my papers for admission. He was perhaps sitting in the classroom because the morning assembly was already over. He was marking attendance as I stood at the entrance gate of the class. I was told that there were forty students in the class and myself was forty-one. Anyway, very reluctantly I peeped into the room. The teacher saw me and said, “Hello Sunil, so you have come. Come in and take your seat with Suresh on the first bench.” The only student on the desk accommodated me very willingly and provided me a seat with a helping and affectionate hand. Soon we were good friends. We were taught a new topic in the social study by the teacher. He asked some questions from the students which were not answered well. I took the initiative and answered all the questions to the best of my knowledge. The teacher was satisfied and enlisted me among the best ten students in the class.

It was recess time soon after and we all started playing in the central ground. Suresh introduced me to many other students of the class. The bell rang and we rushed to the class. Similar phases of the morning session repeated in the next period of Mathematics and English. The concerned teachers appreciated my capability at studies and this helped me to gain better confidence in myself. Soon the periods were over we were asked to pack up for return. My class teacher guided me to proceed towards the bus. The conductor shook hands with me and welcomed me for a good seat. It was a beautiful and well-provided bus. I reached home in an hour. My mother was waiting for me on the main crossing. She asked me about the school and its teaching staff. I gave all the best appreciation to my teachers and told my mother that I had formed a good number of friends and that I enjoyed the day very nicely. She was happy that my silence and hesitation has ultimately wound up for good. She felt happy that I could fit in well in the new setup and atmosphere.

My First Day At School After Holiday

Filed Under: Essays Tagged With: Education

It is natural on the part of every student to remember the first day at school. It gave me a terrible feeling of fear and anxiety as I went to school with my father. It was my mother who first thought of sending me to school.

Of course I was of the school going age. When my mother expressed it I thought that she was a heartless woman. My mind was disturbed at first. Although I had heard about school, I had not visited it earlier.

My father took me to school which was an unknown place for me. Teachers and students were strangers to me. When I entered the school I felt nervous. It was big building with a large compound wall. As a small child I could not feel stable at the sight of the building. The atmosphere of the school was calm and quite. I was not acquainted with such atmosphere earlier.

It was an old and reputed school in our locality. My father was a student there in his childhood and youth. The Headmaster was well known to my father and greeted him with a smile.

My father introduced me to the Headmaster and requested him to admit me to the school. Then I was enrolled as a student. The Headmaster allowed me to attend the class. I became nervous. My father left me in the class room and went away. I was about to cry.

However, the kind behavior of the Headmaster and the class teacher soothed my feelings. The quality of nervousness vanished from me. The class teacher asked my name and whereabouts. He patted me on my back. I replied some of his questions promptly. He became pleased. He also advised me to purchase the text books.

The Essay on Assimilation In Schools Language Students Class

I believe that the most common of these three is assimilation. At first, I was not able to understand why there were so many teachers. The bell rang. The class teacher left our class and another teacher came. All the students in our class again stood up. Other students looked at me curiously. The teacher wrote some words on the blackboard. He taught simple arithmetic’s. Then the bell rang. Another class began.

In that class, a new teacher asked us to read a passage from a book. Some of us faithfully read it one after another. After three consecutive classes there was a recess of half an hour. I rushed to the play ground along with my class mates. That day I became intimate to Sandeep who became my best friend later on. As it was my first day, I did not carry Tiffin. Sandeep shared it with me.

Only two classes were held after recess. We told stories. The last class was a drawing-class. The drawing teacher was highly pleased when I set aside my nervousness and drew the picture of a jug on the black board. The classes came to an end at about 4 P.M. I was not willing to return from school.

The memory of my first day at school is very pleasant. I feel proud when I describe it to others.

This kindergarten teacher’s sweet note made one mom cry

A tearful mom who dropped off her kids at kindergarten received the best encouragement from a teacher.

“She was so warm and welcoming,” Tavia Wade, a mother of three in Utah, tells TODAY.com .

Wade shared what happened in a TikTok video : “My daughter’s kindergarten teacher made me cry today ... I’m dropping my girls off for the very first time, they’re twins, it’s all-day kindergarten, emotional.”

According to Wade, one of her daughters’ teachers handed her a package of tissues attached to a note. “I dare you not to cry when I read this,” Wade said in the video.

The note read:

“I give you a little wink and smile as you entered my room today.

For I know how hard it is to leave and know your child must stay.

You’ve been with them for many years now and have been a loving guide.

But now, alas, the time has come to leave them at my side.

Just know that as you drive away and the tears down your cheeks may flow, I’ll love them as I would my own and help them learn and grow.

So please, put your mind at ease and cry those tears no more. For I will love them and take them in when you leave them at my door.”

The note was signed, “Love, Mrs. Durrant.”

Utah mom Tavia Wade received a kind poem from one of her twin daughters’ kindergarten teachers.

“I was immediately ugly crying,” Wade said in the video. “My husband and I couldn’t even lift our heads until we were halfway home ... we were both uncontrollably crying.”

She adds, “That poem is so sweet, it got me deep in the heartstrings and dropping your kids off at school for the first time is really hard and emotional.”

Wade, who also has a 17-month-old daughter, tells TODAY.com that her twin girls were excited to enter kindergarten. Mom, however, was “a ball of nerves.”

“The girls did preschool three days a week for two hours,” says Wade, “so this was definitely a big change and an adjustment.”

Unlike in preschool, Wade’s twins will be in separate kindergarten classes. Wade says when she handed off one daughter to a teacher named Katie Durrant, she handed her the note and tissues, a gift to all incoming parents.

my first day at school after vacation essay

“You try to keep it together for your kid, so I just smiled with my lip quivering,” says Wade.

Katie Durrant tells TODAY.com that she read the poem on the Instagram page of Maddie Ward , a fellow kindergarten teacher in Florida, who tells TODAY.com that she is unaware of the poem's original author.

Durrant, who has a 14-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son, recalls the anxiety she felt when her eldest started kindergarten.

“I followed the school bus!” says Durrant. “I had to see if she made it inside.” The kindergarten transition for her son was easier because he was a student in her class.

Durrant, who is entering her seventh year of teaching kindergarten, knows it’s hard to say goodbye on the first day.

“We wave and blow kisses to parents,” she says. “Most kids are excited but there can be tears (for both).”

Wade says the note made it easier to step away.

“It’s all you hope for as a parent, knowing your kid is in good hands,” says Wade. “I want teachers to know they matter and if you’re a crying mom, you’re not the only one.”

Set 4: Essay On My First Day in School

A lot of the things I did just yesterday I will have difficulty in remembering but many years ago my first day in school, I remember in every detail. It was a Wednesday morning in March at Mount Abu. It was a cold morning and I was shivering because I did not want anything to spoil the new school uniform I was wearing.

The previous day my Mother, Father and I had visited the school to see my class and meet my class teacher and so I knew where I had to go and who would be my teacher.

That day my mother woke me up very early. I was just two and a half years old and I cried when I was awoken so early. She reminded I had to go to school that day and I quietened down and went through the process of getting ready fast. My mother gave me a bath. That day she prepared my most favourite breakfast which I had happily. For my recess break too she prepared my favourite upma and packed it neatly into my new tiffin box and put it into my bag. I was ready and waiting outside before my Mum and Dad joined me. The taxi brought us to school well in time. My parents took me to my class where the teacher Mrs. Varghese stood with open arms to receive me. She was a very kind and gentle lady. I was the first student to reach her class. After speaking briefly to her my parents kissed me and assuring that they would return to pick me up, they went away.

My teacher showed me where to sit and made me comfortable. Just then a class mate of mine came, a girl by the name of Richa and she was crying loudly. Soon after her many came in with their parents and all were crying. I felt that there must be something that I am supposed to fear and so I too started crying. My teacher sang for us, played music for us, acted the clown for us but we just cried. In the end she started crying and then one by one we stopped crying. I went over to my teacher and told her not to cry. Then my teacher stopped crying and we did whatever she told us to do. We loved her because she was just like us.

My mother accompanied me to school on the first day. Other parents accompanied their children as well. We all waited in front of the school office.

Soon a teacher came and led us to some classrooms. There we were put into four separate classes. This was when some children began to cry as the parents were not allowed into the classrooms. I did not cry because I had been to kindergarten before. Actually my mother went home soon after for she knew I would be all right.

It was an enjoyable time for me as I got to know my new classmates. The teacher was very busy writing down our particulars so we had plenty of time to ourselves.

Meantime some children continued to sob while their parents looked in anxiously through the windows.

Soon recess came. Some of us headed for the tuckshop while the rest headed for their parents. I bought a drink with the money my mother gave me. Getting to know my new friends had made me thirsty.

After recess we went back to our classroom and my new friends and I managed to coax two boys to stop crying. In fact, soon we were laughing and playing together. Once in a while the teacher had to tell us to keep quiet as we were making too much noise.

Still some parents looked in anxiously through the windows.

Finally the bell rang for us to go home. Some of us relieved to be reunited with our parents. I too were very was glad to see my mother waiting for me at the school gate. I had made many friends. It had been a wonderful first day at school.

This is my third school. Yet, on the day I joined it, I was very nervous. We had shifted to Singapore recently and so I had to change to this school.

This school is very different from my previous one. It has a very grand and imposing building. There are big playgrounds on two sides and a beautiful garden in front. I was very happy to come to this school and had visions of all the games that I would be able to play. And yet I was full of apprehensions.

I saw some students walking around. They seemed to be quite indifferent to me. A few even stared at me insolently. It frightened me. How would I get along with these students? Just at that time, the class teacher of my class came out of the Principal’s room. She took me to my class, introduced me to the students, asked a student to give a seat to me and told me that I should sit there every day. That student did not even say ‘hello’ to me. All my apprehensions came to the fore. I felt very alone and stupid.

Then the bell rang. The teacher left the class. Some five-six students crowded round me, asking my name, telling me theirs, making fun of each other and pulling each other’s leg. Soon I was one of them. What I considered their aloofness was just discipline. How could they talk in front of the teacher! Now, I love my school.

A peon from the school showed my parents the way to the principal’s office. Now I was almost in tears. As we entered the room, the principal rose from his chair and walked up to me. He held out his hand and my father gave me a little push towards him. We shook hands and he welcomed me to his school. He was cheerful and tried to make me smile, putting some sweets into my pocket.

Then we were sent to the Primary Department as I was to start my first day in class III. The teacher greeted my parents, took me by the hand and led me to a desk in the first row. I looked at my parents and waved as they turned to leave.

The teacher introduced me to the class and all the children said a loud “hello” to me. At once I felt I belonged to the class. During the break, some boys gathered around me and asked me many questions. We talked for a while, then it was time for lessons again. Naveen, who sat beside me, very kindly shared his text books with me as my parents hadn’t bought my books, on the first day. During the last period we had a singing class. Set 12: essay on my first day in school.

My first day at school is a memorable one. I saw boys go to school and I also felt a keen desire to be among them. One day, when I was hardly seven, my father took me to the school in a neighbouring village at a distance of a kilometre and half from my own. It was a small primary school. There were two teachers, the head teacher and his assistant.

We went straight to the head teacher, as he was already known to my father. The head teacher scanned me from head to foot and remarked that I seemed to be intelligent and promising. My father offered him the sweets that we had brought with us. The sweets were distributed among the students of the school and I was admitted to the first infant class. My father left and I was sent to the assistant teacher.

The assistant teacher was a bug-bear for me. He carried in his hand a big cane. He now beats one boy most mercilessly and then another. I trembled with fear in my shoes. My blood curdled cold in my veins. I cursed my stars. At last, the teacher turned his attention towards me. He taught me the first few letters of the Urdu alphabet and asked me to memorise them. On a gloomy afternoon, with an aching heart, I was cramming the first few letters of the Urdu alphabet. What on earth did they mean? What was their sense? It all seemed absolute rigmarole to me. However, there was one thing I could always do; I could learn by heart. In due course, the teacher returned.

“Have you learned it?” he asked. “I think I can say it, Sir,” I replied. I gabbled it off. He seemed to be satisfied with it. My fears were a bit allayed. I hated the school. What a life of anxiety at the school! I wept in my heart at the loss of my freedom. I yearned for my mother’s kisses, love and tenderness. I badly missed the cakes and biscuits. I badly missed my friends. I was deprived of my games and pranks. I lost all smiles and joy. I counted the minutes and hours to the end of the daily round of school.

200 During the recess period, all my class fellows crowded around me. One pulled my ear, another my shirt and the third pulled my hair. A boy knocked me to the gro ground. I received bruises on my knees and elbows. I could not help crying.

At 4 o’clock, the last bell rang. I made for home along with my village fellows. I told everything to my mother. I wept but she consoled me and advised me to bear it all. My fears were not dispelled. But there was no way out of it. I must go to school and face the teacher’s rod.

My December Holiday Essay For Students

The winter holidays are an exciting time of year filled with fun traditions, tasty foods, and quality time with family and friends. Last December, my family and I took a holiday trip that I will never forget. In this essay, I will share some of the highlights from my December holiday. I will discuss our travels, the special celebrations we enjoyed, and what I learned from the experience.

Short Essay On My December Holiday

Travel plans.

As part of our holiday preparations, my family researched different destinations to visit over our school break. After much debate, we settled on a one-week road trip along the coast of California (Topic Sentence). For the first part of our journey, we packed up our suitcases and snacks and embarked on an eight-hour drive from our home in Northern California down to Los Angeles (Transition). Hitting the road for long periods of time can be tiring, so we listened to Christmas music and audiobooks to pass the time and keep our energy up. Taking breaks to stretch our legs at scenic overlooks also helped the drive feel shorter.

Arrival in Los Angeles

Upon arriving in LA, our first stop was checking into our hotel for a few nights of exploring the city (Topic Sentence). We spent one afternoon at Disneyland, enjoying the festive decorations and riding our favorite attractions like the teacups (Example). On another day, we toured Hollywood Boulevard and snapped photos beside the handprints of famous movie stars at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Our hotel was located near the Santa Monica Pier, so one evening we strolled along the beachfront shops and played amusement park games for prizes (Example). Los Angeles was bustling with holiday cheer and offered the perfect mix of activities to start our winter getaway.

Christmas Eve in San Diego

After a few enjoyable days in Los Angeles, we packed up and continued on to San Diego for Christmas Eve (Transition). We checked into a cozy hotel downtown and walked nearby to see the iconic San Diego Zoo all lit up for the night (Topic Sentence). What really stood out was attending midnight mass at a historic Spanish church near our hotel. It was a beautiful service with traditional carols and readings about the nativity story that put me in the Christmas spirit (Example). For dinner, my family cooked up a feast of tamales, potatoes, and fruit salad in our mini kitchen before exchanging gifts by the fireplace (Example). Spending quality time together made it feel just like Christmas, even though we were on vacation in a new city.

Our December holiday trip up and down the California coast was full of wonderful new experiences and memories. I learned that holidays are about more than presents or fancy meals—they are a chance to appreciate your family through shared moments of laughter and bonding (Topic Sentence). The natural scenery, festive celebrations in cities, and time unplugged from technology refreshed my mind and spirit. Looking back, that one special week created lasting memories that I will cherish for many years to come. I am grateful that my parents planned such a meaningful getaway for our family during my winter school break.
