Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is a degree focused on building leadership skills and learning business principles amongst the students. But for the majority of student, MBAs offer much more than that like a stronger professional network, access to job opportunities, a bigger pay etc.

WHY MBA PROJECT WORK IS TAKEN UP?

In most of the University, as part of their curriculum during the last Semester, students are required to take up project work in their area of specialization for the successful completion of the MBA Program.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MBA PROJECT?

The basic purpose of MBA project is to help learners develop an ability to apply multidisciplinary concepts, tools and techniques to analyse and logically approach the organisational problems. MBA Project study should be on a topic preferably from the area of specialisation in MBA program.

WHAT IS MBA PROJECT?

A project is a scientific and systematic study of real managerial issue or a problem. The project intends to investigate and suggest suitable managerial interventions to resolve the underlying managerial issues. The problem can be from any functional domain of management like Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance & Accounting, Operations or Business Analytics. Ideally, the project should be related to your chosen area of specialization. The essential requirement of an MBA project is its Research methodology adopted i.e it should entail scientific collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to reach valid conclusions. Research methodology is the implementation of methods or techniques to efficiently solve a research problem, which helps the reader to assess the validity and reliability of the study.

Following are 15 steps to complete Research Methodology of an MBA Project 

  • Research Methodology forms the crux of the MBA Project report. It should clearly identify the Problem, the main objectives of the study, the scope which indicates the usefulness of the project, how applicable it is, and how it can be used by the organization for improved performance.
  • Research Methodology of the MBA Project Report must have elaborate detail of all the components of the methodology.
  • Research Design: Descriptive, Conclusive, Causal or Exploratory.
  • Nature and Source of data/information collected.
  • Sample and Sampling method with rationale - Probability or Non-Probability.
  • Details of the tools i.e. the Questionnaire and other methods used and their purpose .
  • Reliability and Validity of the tools used.
  • Administration of tools and techniques.
  • Data collection- Tools used for data collection (for eg: questionnaire, survey, etc).
  • Data Handling, Statistical tools used for Data Analysis- Hypotheses Testing.
  • Data Interpretation and Findings- Classification and Tabulation of data.
  • Summary and Conclusion- Based on the research study done, the recommendations are based on the conclusions of the study. It is important to indicate that a set of recommendations should follow from the conclusions inferred. The recommendations should have value to the organization. If possible quantify the benefits that can be gained from following the recommendations.
  • Recommendation: Suggestions based on critical analysis of the results. It is important to indicate that a set of recommendations should follow from the conclusions inferred. The recommendations should have value to the organization.
  • Limitations of the Project- If any should be highlighted.
  • Direction for further research- Like findings of this research work, other similar organization can carry out similar research, which may be useful also.
