Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 is an Assignment in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 assignment quest.
Location : The Library Annex -> Potions Classroom Quest Giver: Professor Sharp Requirement: Having Finished Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 Reward: Diffindo, 150XP Mission Info: Professor Sharp wants me to use a Thunderbrew Potion against some enemies. He also wants me to test an Invisibility Potion. I should be able to find potions and recipes at J. Pippins Potions. My Field Guide will not guide me through this assignment, but y map could still prove useful.
Objectives:
Acquire and use an Invisibility Potion
Acquire and use a thunderbrew potion against enemies, return to professor sharp, starting location: professor sharp’s assignment 2.
Now go to The Library Annex -> Potions Classroom and talk to Professor Sharp, he will teach you Diffindo now.
This finishes Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 Assignment Quest in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Unlock Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 ¶
This quest will unlock once you’ve completed the main quest, ‘Room of Requirement’. Professor Sharp will assign you these following tasks:
Where to Get an Invisibility Potion and Thunderbrew Potion ¶
Invisibility Potions and Thunderbrew Potions can be bought from J. Pippin’s Potions.

The Invisibility Potion will temporarily make you invisible (left), whilst the Thunderbrew will stun and damage nearby enemies. (right)
How to Unlock Diffindo Spell ¶
Once you’ve successfully used both potions, return to Professor Sharp in his Potions Classroom and tell him of your success. You’ll then get to learn the offensive spell, Diffindo. This spell has a long range and when used, it’ll send out a bright slash of white light towards the enemy, dealing slashing damage.

How to Complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 – Hogwarts Legacy Guide
There are many potions available in Hogwarts Legacy. And thanks to Professor Sharp’s Assignments, we will get the chance to try them all out! I would advise you to keep tabs on what you consume in the Wizarding World if it was real, but since this is a game, well, go ahead and continue your potion tasting. Here is how to complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2
In case you were wondering, yes, you will need to complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 to begin Assignment 2. Numbers! Anyway, this assignment will be really similar to the previous one. You will be tasked by Professor Sharp, our Potions Master, to go ahead and test two new potions. This time, we will test the Invisibility and Thunderbrew potions.
To get both potions, go ahead and travel to J. Pippin’s Potions, in Hogsmeade. You can either buy each potion or buy the recipe to brew them yourself. The former option is much easier and cheaper. One Invisibility Potion will cost 500 gold, with its recipe costing 800 gold. One Thunderbrew Potion costs 1000 gold, while its recipe costs 1200 gold. Once you have collected both potions, drink them and battle some enemies with the Thunderbrew. Then return to Professor Sharp to complete the quest and learn the Diffindo spell. Here is a table with both potion’s ingredients if you would like to know them.

Acquire and Use an Invisibility Potion
This is relatively straight forward and easy. If you haven’t done the quest A Demanding Delivery yet, this is the time because during the short quest you will use an invisibility potion, hitting two owls with one curse (is that the saying?). However, if you prefer a faster route, you can simply hop over to J. Pippin’s Potions and buy the potion for 500 galleons.
Yet, there is a bit of a trade-off with buying the potion. If you have the money, you might consider investing in the recipe for the potion instead. It is only 300 galleons more (800 total) and you will be able to make the potions at your discretion in the future. It will still be even more expensive though if you don’t have the ingredients, which you’ll have to buy.
If you choose the more expensive option and buy the recipe, you will need these ingredients to make the potion (note that you can buy them as well in Hogsmeade):
- Leaping Toadstool Cap (1) – 150 galleons (Pippin’s)
- Knot Grass Sprig (1) – 150 galleons ( The Magic Neep )
- Troll Bogeys (1) – 100 galleons (Pippin’s)
Acquire and Use a Thunderbrew Potion against Enemies
Just like with the invisibility potion, you can buy this potion at J. Pippin’s Potions, except this potion is much more expensive at 1000 galleons . Again, if you’re rolling in the galleons, then maybe buy the recipe instead for 1200 galleons.
Here are the ingredients you will need for the recipe:
- Leech Juice (1) – 150 galleons (Pippin’s)
- Shrivelfig Fruit (1) – 150 galleons (Magic Neep)
- Stench of the Dead (1) – 100 galleons (Pippin’s)
It is important to remember that you will need to use the Thunderbrew potion against enemies . This can be done expeditiously by fast traveling to the Forbidden Forest Floo Flame and strolling underneath the perilous canopy; there are plenty of enemies around there.

Access Conditions : Complete “ Flying Class ” + Get an Invisibility Potion
Reward : Diffindo Spell
As part of this Assignment, first unlock the Side Quest “ A Demanding Delivery ” to get an Invisibility Potion, drink this potion during the aforesaid Quest and then go to J. Pippin Potions to get a Thunderbrew Potion ( pictures1-2 ).
Once this is done, find some enemies in the area and drink the Thunderbrew Potion, then you can go back to Sharp to learn the Diffindo Spell ( pictures3-4 ).

Hogwarts Legacy: Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2
This guide shows how to complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 in the Hogwarts Legacy game, which released on 10th February 2023. You will learn the Diffindo spell by completing the assignment.
Acquire and use an Invisibility Potion
Travel to Hogsmeade. Then go to J. Pippin’s Potions shop, which is on the northwest side of the area as shown in the pictures below. Talk to Pappy Pippin in the shop and you can purchase Invisibility Potion from him for 500 golds. Now simply consume it to complete the objective.
Acquire and use a Thunderbrew Potion against enemies
You can purchase Thunderbrew Potion from J. Pippin’s Potions shop for 1000 golds. Now simply consume it while in a battle to complete the objective. Make sure that an enemy gets some damage from its effect for it to count for objective completion
Return to Professor Sharp
Talk to Professor Sharp and learn Diffindo spell from him to complete the assignment.

Assignments are types of quests given to you by Hogwarts Professors that, when completed, reward you with new Spells . Professor Sharp's Assignment 2 Hogwarts Legacy Walkthrough

Professor Sharp wants me to use a Thunderbrew Potion against some enemies. He also wants me to test an Invisibility Potion. I should be able to find potions and recipes at J. Pippins Potions . My Field Guide will not guide me through this assignment, but my map could still prove useful.
You can travel to J. Pippins Potions in Hogsmeade to obtain these Potions ready-made or learn them to Brew them yourself by purchasing the Potion Recipes and collecting the required Ingredients . Once you have the potions, locate any enemy and use the Potions during Combat.
I've completed Profressor Sharp's assignment. I should return to the Potions classroom so he can teach me Diffindo.
Return to Professor Sharp
Travel back to Hogwarts Castle and speak to Professor Sharp . He will teach you Diffindo .

Hogwarts Legacy – Professor Sharp’s Assignments
As you progress through Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll receive assignments from Professor Sharp, who can be found in the Potions classroom in the Library Annex. You’ll receive the first assignment during the Complete the First Keeper Trial main mission. Below are walkthroughs for these assignments.
Assignment 1
Obtained: From an Owl Post after starting the Complete the First Keeper Trial main story quest.
For the first assignment, Professor Sharp will task you with acquiring and using a Focus Potion. You’ll also need to acquire both Maxima and Edurus Potions and then use them simultaneously. The easiest way to do this would be to purchase an Edurus Potion for 300 gold, a Focus Potion for 500 gold and a Maxima Potion for 300 gold from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade. You can then drink the potions to satisfy the condition of each task. With that done, the next step is to attend Potion Class in the Library Annex. After the class speak with Professor Sharp to learn the Depulso spell.
Assignment 2
Obtained: You’ll receive an owl post from Professor Sharp shortly after completing his first assignment
The second assignment from Professor Sharp tasks you with obtaining an Invisibility Potion and using it. You’ll also need to procure a Thunderbrew Potion and use it against some enemies. You can buy both potions from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade. The Invisibility Potion costs 500 gold and the Thunderbrew Potion costs 1,000 gold. You can use the Invisibility Potion anywhere to satisfy the task but for the Thunderbrew Potion, you’ll need to head to the world map and find a group of enemies then drink it near them. This will cause a small thundercloud to appear shocking your foes. With both tasks completed, return to Professor Sharp in the Potions Classroom and speak with him to learn the Diffindo spell.

Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 is one of the twelve Hogwarts Legacy Assignments available in the video game developed by Avalanche Software , and it allows you to unlock the Depulso Spell, as well as Sharp’s Second Assignment.
Depending on how you want to approach Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 in Hogwarts Legacy , this side quest can take less than 5 minutes to complete, or it can become a fetch quest focused on searching for brewing ingredients. Regardless, throughout the following guide, we’ll go over both options so you can pick the one that works best for you.
Aside from unlocking one of the 34 Spells in Hogwarts Legacy , you’ll also receive 150 XP at the end of this Assignment.
Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 is triggered automatically after you complete the Jackdaw’s Rest main quest via a letter you’ll receive through the Owl Post.
The letter, as you can see, is from Professor Sharp, and it reads:
“You need to learn Depulso, the Banishing Charm. Useful for pushing objects or adversaries away. Complete the required tasks and meet me in my classroom.”
After reading the letter, open your Field Guide, and in the Quests Section, you’ll find the tasks Sharp has for you:
- Acquire and use a Focus Potion.
- Acquire Maxima and Edurus Potions and use them simultaneously
As said, this quest can take less than 5 minutes to complete, depending on how you wish to approach it. So, let’s go over the fastest method first.
How To Acquire and Use a Focus Potion
To acquire and use a Focus Potion, first, you have to get your hands on it. And the fastest way to do that is by buying it from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade. So travel to Hogsmeade, then find J. Pippin, you may remember from the Welcome To Hogsmeade main quest . Talk to the shopkeeper, and from his inventory, buy one Focus Potion for 500 Galleons.
Great job. Now, let’s see how to use it to complete Sharp’s first task. After purchasing the Focus Potion, you have to exit the Shop. Remember that Potions act as Tools in Hogwarts Legacy, meaning you’ll need to equip it first. Therefore, press and hold L1/LB to open your Tools Wheel, then use the Right Thumbstick to select the Focus Potion below.
Release L1/LB after selecting the Focus Potion, and while standing outside the Shop, press L1/LB to use it, completing the first task for Sharp. If you don’t want to buy the Focus Potion, you can brew it yourself; however, first, you’ll need to buy the Focus Potion Recipe recipe from J. Pippin for 1,200 Galleons.
Then, you’ll also need to find the following ingredients:
- 1 Lacewing Flies – they can be captured from the glowing bushes
- 1 Fluxweed Stem – available for purchase from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade or obtained by growing Fluxweed at the Potting Table
- 1 Dugbog Tongue – obtained from the Dugbogs roaming in the swampy areas such as South Sea Bog
So, as you can see, the second method requires some work, and it is also a bit more expensive, but once you have all the ingredients, you’ll brew the Focus Potion. So equip it and consume it as explained above.
How To Acquire Maxima and Edurus Potion and Use Them Simultaneously
The Maxima and Edurus Potions you’ll need to consume simultaneously follow the same logic, meaning that you can buy them from J. Pippin’s Potions Shop. The Edurus Potion costs 300 Galleons, just like the Maxima Potion. If you don’t have enough Galleons, consider selling some of the gear you don’t need anymore.
After you buy them, exit the Shop and access the Tools Wheel. Equip one Potion at a time and press L1/LB to consume both. The order is not important as long as both Potions are active on you at the same time.
Like the previous Potion, you can brew Maxima and Edurus Potions, provided you are willing to spend some Galleons for the Recipes and time to get the ingredients.
The Maxima Potion requires the following:
- Maxima Potion Recipe – available at J. Pippin’s Potions Shop for 500 Galleons
- 1 Leech Juice – obtained from Leeches found near water sources (rivers/lakes)
- 1 Spider Fang – obtained from Spiders in the Forbidden Forest
For the Edurus Potion, you’ll need the following:
- Edurus Potion Recipe – Unlocked after completing the Potions Class main quest
- 1 Ashwinder Eggs – found while exploring the world, these orange eggs are very common
- 1 Mongrel Fur -obtained by killing wolves (mongrels)
Regardless of how you obtain these Potions, once you drink them, you’ll complete both of Sharp’s tasks. To finish the quest, however, you must return to the Potions Class using the Potions Classroom Floo Flame in The Library Annex. If you arrive during the night, you’ll also have to progress the time, and you can do this by opening your Field Guide and pressing the Right Thumbstick (Wait) while viewing the map.
After Professor Sharp arrives, talk to him, and he’ll teach you how to cast Depulso simply by completing a mini-game, which requires you to guide your wand and follow the pattern on the left side of the screen.

Quest Objectives
Where to acquire a focus potion, alternatively: buy recipes and brew the potions yourself, use a focus, maxima, and edurus potion, attend potions class during the day, return to professor sharp.
For the quest “Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1” in Hogwarts Legacy your objectives are:
- Acquire and use a Focus Potion.
- Acquire Maxima and Edurus Potion, and use them simultaneously.
- Attend Potions Class during the Day.
- Return to Professor Sharp.
The first step is to get a Focus Potion. The easiest way is to buy it from a vendor. Travel to Hogsmeade and find “J. Pippin’s Potions” to purchase the Focus Potion.
Pippins sells all 3 potions you need. Purchase each of the following potions once to save time:
- Focus Potion (500 Galleons)
- Maxima Potion (300 Galleons)
- Edurus Potion (300 Galleons)
This will cost you a total of 1,100 Galleons.
Alternatively, Pippin also sells the recipes for:
- Focus Potion Recipe (1,200 Galleons)
- Maxima Potion Recipe (500 Galleons)
If you’d rather brew the potions yourself, you can purchase these two recipes for a total of 1,700 galleons. You should already be able to brew the Erdus Potion. In addition, you then need the ingredients for all 3 potions.
Now equip one potion after the other and drink them. This will also ensure you take the Maxima and Edurus potions at the same time as required by the quest.
💡 How to use a potion in Hogwarts Legacy?
To use a potion, you need to hold the key which allows you to select your potions (e.g. L1 or LB). Now choose a potion and release the button, so the potion is equipped. Now tap the same button (e.g. L1 or LB) once quickly to use the potion.
Focus, Maxima, and Edurus Potions are three potions in Hogwarts Legacy that are useful in battle. The potions have the following effects:
- The Focus Potion reduces the cooldown of your spells.
- The Maxima Potion increases your spell damage for a limited time.
- The Edurus Potion strengthens your defenses by covering you in stone skin.
Now travel back to Hogwarts. The flea flame places are ideal as a travel destination. Travel either directly to the “Classroom: Potions” or e.g. to the library. Classes will not start if it is nighttime.
💡 How to skip time in Hogwarts Legacy?
If you have a Hogwarts Legacy quest that can only be completed at a certain time of day, you can make the time pass faster. To do this, open the map and press the hotkey for “Wait”. On PC the hotkey is “F”, with a controller try the right thumbstick / analog stick.
Skipping times of day by waiting is useful for several quests, including Ghost of our Love .
Now return to Professor Sharp to complete the quest “Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1”. As a reward, you can now learn the Depulso spell (check our Hogwarts Legacy spell list to learn more about all the spells). Complete the little mini-game and then cast the spell on the book floating above your potion station in the same room.
In “ Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 ” you will learn more about the Invisibility Potion and Thunderbrew Potion and learn the spell Diffindo.
