  • Most of the boss has a weak point, this is " They always weak and easier to die when you knife them ". There are two ways to kill him easily : _ Knifing Saddler ( Safest way ) : Run near the small room in floor 2, jump down to the ground then turn back, Saddler will jump down like you. Now start to knife him, remember to do the command L1+R1 or square, X to dodge the attack that crush your face to the ground. When you press the command L1+R1 about 7 or 10 times, the command will change to square, X or maybe they will not change. Knife him about 13 times ( three hit in once ) and he will die. _ Shooting Saddler ( Safer way ) : Stand in place that you start in this fight then wait until Saddler jump in this area and. Dodge the attack L1+R1 or square, X . Run near Saddler and aim the Shotgun in his head, wait until the command L1+R1 appear on the screen, quickly shoot in his head and press X near him to cut. Repeat 17 times and he will die. krauser1989 - 14 years ago - report 10   7
  • The fastest way I've found to beat him is at the start of the match let him jump up top to meet you. From there snipe him once in the head, then he'll dip down and to the right for his counter attack, when he does take the second head shot (this is crucial it has to be two consecutive headshots) then he'll open his mouth, run up and stab him using the action key. Do this once more and after that unload all you got (perfect time for the crossbow) he should fall not too long after the second stabbing. Hope this helps Snakecob - 5 years ago - report
  • I unloaded 21 bow gun arrows on him and then stabed his eye and killed him. I was literally blinking red health when I started so I know it's possible Legendary_Pyro - 14 years ago - report 5   5
  • I havent gotten to that part yet but iv watched mah friends play and the fastest way is to simply spray all tmp ammo in his face then shotgun close to head as many times as u want and if u run out of ammo stab the sh!t outta him.my friend was literally blinking red hp wen he startedand it wasnt hard at all (4 him at least) to dodge every attack. so it is 100% possible to kill saddler without being hit. easy. gater228 - 14 years ago - report 7   7
  • Just shoot him him (in the head) with everything you've got, and stab him (when you have the chance)... Udin_Petot - 14 years ago - report 4   5
  • you can knife him by running up really close to him he will always use the same attack if you do it right u can evade it by L1 R1 if your life is getting low step back and finish with the shotgun lerhone - 14 years ago - report 5   7

How to Beat Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways

During Chapter 7 in Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Separate Ways DLC , Ada will face Osmund Saddler after helping Leon and Ashley escape. Although the cult leader won’t shapeshift into a hideous beast, he is still a challenging boss with various moves that can easily kill you.

RE4 Remake Separate Ways Saddler Boss Fight Guide

The cramped boss arena is the biggest challenge you will face in this boss fight. You won’t have much room to move, which can increase your difficulty dodging Saddler’s attacks.

When the fight begins, I recommend immediately heading to the back of the room and grabbing all the loot inside the barrels . You probably won’t get this chance when Saddler starts attacking you with his tentacles.

I suggest staying near the two pillars at the front and using them as your cover. You can also use the platform near the altar as an alternative, and it will also give you a slight height advantage.

Saddler has several moves, but the most dangerous one is the rain of bullets that he will send toward you. He will usually perform this move when you have put enough bullets in his body. Luckily, you can avoid this attack by staying behind a pillar .

RE4 Remake Separate Ways Saddler Boss Fight.

The boss also has a familiar vomit attack that you previously encountered during Ramon Salazar boss fight . Like the rain of bullets, you can avoid damage by hiding behind a pillar or crouching .

The final dangerous move you must be wary of is the tentacle attack . Saddler will attempt to stab you several times using his tentacles, but you can deflect this move using your knife . Just repeatedly smash the L1 or LB button, and you should be safe.

Although you’ve beaten Saddler and completed the Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Separate Ways DLC , you can still do various things in the game. For example, you can get extra gameplay time by completing all CP Challenges and obtaining S+ ranks on all difficulties .

In the concluding chapter of the Separate Ways DLC, Ada gets her final opportunity to snatch the Amber from Saddler. However, her first task is to find the Sanctuary, which she believes is where Saddler and Leon are located. For those looking to complete this mission, the RE4: Separate Ways walkthrough on this page explains all the objectives and reveals all hidden treasure locations on the Island.

In the fifth chapter of Separate Ways, Ada faces the biggest challenge of her career, the Pesanta; here’s how to deal with it.

How to Complete Separate Ways Chapter 7

The ultimate goal in the final chapter is taking the Amber back from Saddler . To accomplish this, players must first locate the Sanctuary, fight off Saddler, and help Leon kill him.

Head for the Sanctuary

image showing the underground path in separate ways.

Start by clearing out the enemies in the Underground Passage and ride the elevators to the top. Note that enemies in this RE4 section are skippable. All players need to do is run past them and close the elevator door before they can get in.

Defeat Saddler

Inside the Sanctuary, players must face off against Saddler , the game’s final boss. To defeat him, they will need to shoot the glowing eye in his mouth .

In the battle, Saddler unleashes six moves against players: Lunge, strike, grab, ground attack, poisonous vomit, and tornado strike. Dodging the first five is possible by crouching, parrying, or swiftly retreating. However, the final move, tornado lunge, necessitates pressing RB (R1 on PlayStation) to grapple away from him.

Each time Saddler is stunned, players must stab the eye in his mouth by pressing the RT or R2 button.

Give the Powerful Weapon to Leon

After being rescued by Leon , Ada must find a powerful gun to help defeat Saddler’s final form. For that, she must ride the elevator to the top of the Guard Tower and locate the Red Warhead Rocket Launcher.

The special rocket launcher is guarded by soldiers and Brutes, and Ada has only 4.5 minutes to retrieve it. Evading enemies and utilizing her grappling abilities is the key to success.

Once the rocket launcher is in hand, players must target Saddler's tentacles in the eye to unblock the path. Finally, by pressing the crane button, they can deliver the rocket launcher to Leon , concluding the final chapter.

All Treasure Locations in Separate Ways Chapter 7

Players can claim four treasures in the final chapter of the Separate Ways DLC. Here’s where to find them:

  • A Velvet Blue is on top of the elevator that helps Ada leave the Underground Passage.
  • The Staff of Royalty is in the chest near the same elevator.
  • The Justitia Statue is at the entrance of the Sanctuary.
  • A Ruby is on the ceiling of the tunnel that leads to the Sanctuary.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Separate Ways DLC is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler fight - keeping the first form at bay

Saddler once held sway over the island as Los Illuminados’ cult leader, but here he discards all pretence of charisma and control, letting the parasite run wild and using sheer brute force in an attempt to take you down.

You’ll have a great deal of freedom in how you move around during the fight, so be sure to take advantage of it. The arena is littered with crates to restock your ammo if you’re running low, and you’ll often need to make space to stay out of Saddler’s way as he advances.

Saddler Boss Tips – First Form

Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler fight - Leon aims at the large eyes on Saddler's mutated body

The main eye inside Saddler’s mouth will be your main target throughout this part of the fight. While smaller than the eyes on his extremities, hitting this with your strongest weapons should be your priority.

With a steady aim, you can keep your focus on the main eye with powerful and accurate weapons like the Killer7 oe Stingray. But if you want an easier time targeting it, destroy each of the larger eyes around the body to temporarily stun Saddler andset him up to take massive damage.

Partway through the fight, Saddler will summon a swarm of Novistadors to attack and slow you down. These foes have been an annoyance through all of Resident Evil 4 Remake, and it’s no different here. If you don’t want them tripping you up at a key moment, alternate between keeping an eye on Saddler and picking off the swarm.

Alternatively, if you keep moving the Novistadors will have a harm time getting in close enough to damage you, keeping your distance and focusing down Saddler is a valid tactic.

Saddler's final form

The majority of the battle is done after Saddler’s first form is defeated, but he still has a trick up his sleeve. For the final stage of the fight, Saddler will morph into a writhing mass of tendrils with his original body at the core.

As soon as this stage begins, start firing with whatever you have left at the core. It’s almost impossible to miss at this point. Don’t spend all your time aiming, however. Tendrils will periodically slam down on your platform, requiring Leon to keep moving or take heavy damage.

Your shots won’t initially be doing much, but that’s because you aren’t using the right tool for the job. After surviving for a short amount of time, Ada will throw Leon the series’ staple rocket launcher. Pick up the launcher, aim it at the core and fire to finish Saddler for good.

How to beat the Saddler boss in the Resident Evil 4 remake

Image of Chris Carter

He’s back: in a grosser form

Well you’ve made it to the final Chapter 16 showdown in the Resident Evil 4 remake : Lord Saddler. Given that this is the final boss of the game (if you don’t count the boat!) you can unload on him to your heart’s content, and bust out all of the weapons from storage you haven’t been using. Here’s how to use said weapons to actually take him down.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Phase 1: Take out his eyes, then run up and knife his head

First things first: As a rule, you’ll want to keep moving down the linear path of the arena and finding new pickups/ammo for the fight. Saddler will often move this process along by jumping onto platforms or leaping all over the place, so follow him and keep blasting his eyes (located all over his body) along the way. This strategy also has the added benefit of utilizing multiple red explosive barrels that appear along the path to deal extra damage to Saddler.

In what is definitely a “giant enemy crab weak point” situation, you’ll need to take out Saddler’s eyes to put him in a downed state (which allows you to run up to him and use a prompted knife strike on his “main” eye). Any weapon will work for blowing up his ancillary eyes, but we fancied pistols/magnums at close range, and rifles at long range.

Saddler is extremely mobile, so you can’t always hang back and snipe him from afar. When he gets close, try and run behind him (or to the side of him) to get a better vantage point on his eyes: he’ll also get a bit confused when it comes to pathing, giving you a few extra seconds to react to his attacks.

When he summons bugs to his side as adds (additions) to the fight, you have two choices. You can keep focusing on Saddler, as he’s nearly ready to move into phase two at this point. Or you could quickly mow down some of the bugs, then re-focus up back on Saddler. Either strategy works well, especially since the bugs don’t do too much damage.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Phase 2: The tendril arena

This part of the fight is extremely simple and brief. Saddler will make one last ditch effort to take you out with his tendrils, which can be easily avoided (manually or with the dodge mechanic):

  • When a tendril is raising up on the left (like the one in the gallery above), head to the right side of the arena
  • When a tendril is raising up on the right, head to the left side of the arena
  • All other tendrils can be dodged when the dodge prompt appears on screen (circle/B)

Keep shooting at the gold orb. Eventually, Ada Wong will throw a rocket launcher down to the small arena. Take it and shoot it at said orb and you’re done with the boss battle. You’ll get the gold trophy/achievement “You’re Small Time!” as well. The only thing left for you to do is escape the island (by following the linear path) and riding the boat out.

How to easily escape the island on the boat

The main thing to note is that you have  plenty of time to escape, so don’t lay on the gas too much.

Instead, only accelerate when there’s a straightaway or there aren’t that many hazards in your way. Otherwise, lay off the gas and coast around some of the tougher sections, then hit the trigger throttle again. Rinse and repeat until you make the final jump and you’re out of there.

The first boss appears immediately after rescuing Luis in the Audience Chamber. This massive creature uses a powerful biological spear to swing at Ada from medium range. Stay far away and sprint [R1] before it can launch itself at you. You’ll also find some extra ammo in vases around the chamber near the two central pillars. Break them to grab Pistol and SMG ammo. For this phase, I recommend using the handgun.

Aim for the head and keep moving. Stop shooting and sprint away when it rears back — run left or right to avoid it. Alternatively, you can parry it. When it lunges forward with its spear, press [L1] or equivalent to draw your knife. If you time it right, you’ll block the attack. If you time the parry precisely as the attack lands, you will stagger the boss. Deal enough damage to stun him and break him out of any melee attacks. Once you deal enough damage, the boss will initiate Phase 2.

During Phase 2, the Black Robe summons copies of itself. These copies will dissipate after shooting them once. They can actually hurt you and will attack if you get close. Sprint away from them before they can box you in and look for one with glowing eyes. This is the real Black Robe — you can also spot the Black Robe as it will teleport ahead of the others and reappear near you. Use the TMP to quickly wipe out a crowd of these fakes if you’re about to be cornered. The boss is generally slower during this phase, so aim for the head and you’ll bring it down.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Black Robe Second Encounter

Black Robe reappears in the Town Square. It will immediately generate its illusion field but will use a wider variety of attacks — including its flesh spear lunge. You’ll also get a tutorial for parrying here — when it rears back and slides forward, you can parry by drawing your knife. Time your knife precisely to block. A perfect parry will stagger the creature briefly. If it swings left (instead of right) you’ll need to evade instead of parrying. Deal heavy damage to the head with the shotgun, rifle or grenades to stagger it quickly. Even from for away, Ada can use your grappling hook to perform melee attacks.

I recommend repairing your Tactical Knife at the Merchant before initiating the fight. Parry is extremely useful here, as Black Robe attacks faster and is far more aggressive. After dealing damage, instead of summoning a swarm it will summon one extra copy. The copies are faster this time. The real one will only reveal its red glowing eyes when it gets close. After sustaining damage, it will also attempt a grapple attack. When it feints an attack by disappearing instead of attacking, quickly sprint away from your current location or it will grapple Ada and perform an instakill grab.

Like the first fight, the copy will disappear after taking damage. But, that changes in the final phase. Black Robe will summon two invulnerable copies that can’t be hurt. Shooting them will reveal the illusion but won’t make them disappear. Keep moving and shoot through the illusions to damage the real Black Robe. Once you deal enough damage, it will be vulnerable to a knife attack. This can be done from long-range just like melee attacks. Deliver the finishing blow with your knife to end the fight.

Village Chief

The Village Chief ambushes Ada after she finds evidence of Luis’s location. He’s an invulnerable stalker so there’s no reason to fight him or the Villagers that appear through the front doors of the Manor. Use Flash Grenades to stun and slow them down and escape to the south when he appears. The Village Chief will punch Ada and is only briefly stunned when hit with Grenades, Flash Grenades, or headshots. Fighting him is a waste of bullets.

Leave through the front door, then turn left and grapple to avoid the tripwire bomb. In the courtyard ahead, a villager is to your right. Stick to the left side and crouch to sneak past a second tripwire. You’ll escape after grappling over the locked factory front gate.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Approaching the Villa from the Farm at night, Ada will encounter her own El Gigante. The giant creature is joined by two villagers. This fight is actually very different from a normal El Gigante fight — while he has all the same moves, Ada can swing onto the nearby rooftops and use them to get easy shots on the exposed parasite of the giant. Shoot the parasite until the parasite emerges, then use the rooftops to easily hit it.

Don’t stay on the rooftops too long. The giant will smash the buildings by attacking them, knocking Ada over and dealing damage. If the structures take too much damage, they can be destroyed. Jump off or grapple onto another roof to avoid you take damage. If you deal enough damage to the parasite, you’ll stun the giant and leave it vulnerable to a knife attack. Ada can grapple onto the giant’s back and deal heavy damage even at range with her knife. Hit the parasite with two knife melee attacks to kill it.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Armored Garrador

A blind, armored miniboss appears at the end of the Gregorio’s Waterway section. In this arena, cultists will continuously drop in while you fight the Garrador. This blind enemy reacts to running footsteps and gunshots. When it hears a loud noise, it will charge wildly at the location. When swinging madly, it can damage or kill other parasite-infected enemies. New cultists will pour into the arena until the Armored Garrador is defeated.

The Armored Garrador can only be damaged by shooting the exposed parasite on its back. To quickly kill the Garrador, you can also use the Blast Crossbow — even from the front, the explosive blast will damage and often stun the Garrador. An upgraded rifle like the Stingray is very effective against the back of the Garrador. If you suprise the Garrador, it will be briefly stunned and thrash around, giving you a chance to shoot the parasite in the back again.

Use the large arena to sprint away and deal with the cultists. Because of the large open area, you can fire your weapon and then sprint to a new location to avoid the Garrador’s attacks. Weapons like the Crossbow and grenades don’t generate a noise at your location — they only make noise when they explode, allowing you to direct the Garrador away from you, or take out enemies without putting yourself in danger. Destroy the Garrador by shooting the back or by using Blast Crossbow bolts. There is a bundle of x3 Crossbow Bolts in the back-left corner of the arena, leaning on some crates. Use those to end the fight much faster.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

U-3 (Pesenta)

At the end of Chapter 5, Ada will face off against the Black Robe one final time. It will transform into the U-3 after losing its robes. This version is far deadlier with an array of special attacks in its first phase. It has a giant tail that can also be targeted. The two weak points are the mouth on the tail and the top of the head where the exposed brain is located.

When the tail lunges into the ground, be prepared to Evade to dodge the attack. The tail can also fire ranged spines — when the creature roars, it will cause the spines to explode like mines. You can shoot the pulsating spines early to detonate them or wait for them to explode from further away. The boss will also lunge at you, swinging its tail wide. Time your Evade to just before it swings its tail to safely dodge. The Stingray and the Blast Crossbow are extremely useful for this fight. Aim for the head and expend any Blast Crossbow ammo you have left to make this fight much, much easier — the boss will be stunned with every explosive crossbow hit.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

After defeating U-3, it will drop a treasure and die. Collecting the treasure triggers the second phase of the fight. The tail detaches from the body and attacks Ada in an open Cavern environment. It burrows into the ground and attacks by launching spines. Like before, it will suddenly emerge from the ground and trigger an Evade warning. Evade at the right time to dodge the attack. The U-3 will also snake around the surface, leaving behind explosive biological mines. You can shoot the mines early or wait for the creature to trigger them by screeching. The screech will summon two flying bugs — take care of them fast so they don’t distract you.

There are two weak points on the tail. You can aim for the exposed spot on the belly when it stands tall out of the sand and shoots spines, or you can aim for the very end of the centipede. The ‘tail’ of the tail is an extreme weak spot, and is exposed for a good amount of time when it attempts to charge at you. If you avoid the charge, it will crash into the cavern wall and be stunned. Use the Shotgun, Blast Crossbow, or the Stingray to deal high damage. To stagger it completely, use powerful attacks on the exposed weakpoint on the belly — that’s the easiest time to deal high damage — and it will topple over. Use a powerful knife attack when it’s down. You’ll need to hit it twice with the knife to finish it.

The U-3 can also climb onto the ceiling and prepare a powerful attack. To stop it from lunging down at you and creating a shockwave, shoot the exposed weak point on the tail. This can be tricky, so use the TMP, Handgun or Stingray for accurate shots. The Blast Crossbow will also knock it down — as long as you hit near the centipede, it will fall.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Inside the Comms Facility, Ada will encounter an unstoppable creature called ‘Martinico’ — this thing is invulnerable to your standard weapons. Don’t even try to fight him. Just run! If it catches Ada, she’ll die instantly.

Get away from it and use the valve to disable the steam vents. Ahead, look left for an open bunker door Ada can squeeze through. Don’t run into the dead end or you’ll get trapped. You’ll need to navigate a sewer, but exiting an interior room, the creature will return.

Sprint away and use the keypad lock. Input the code [ 2-3-7-E ] and use the grapple point ahead to escape. For now. Later, after dodging through a laser grid and hacking into the Comms Facility, Ada will encounter Martinico one last time. Retreating from the facility, you’ll need to dodge through the laser grids to escape. Use [Evade] as it appears — evade through all three grids, and [Grapple] to escape the final blue lasers. Martinico is invulnerable against standard weapons, but lasers cut right into him.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Saddler is the final boss of the Separate Ways DLC . Like the True Form of Black Robe, Saddler has long tentacles he’ll swipe to hit anything in medium range. He can also burrow his tentacles into the ground, where they’ll attack you from below. When his tentacle burrows, watch for the [Evade] command and dodge to avoid.

Stay away from Saddler and always have a nearby piece of cover. Saddler will spray black bile and sweep across the arena. Crouch to avoid the attack. Saddler can also shoot your bullets back at you. When he extends his right hand, duck behind cover or a wall to avoid getting shot. He’ll do this increasingly more often as the battle progresses.

You can’t parry most of Saddler’s attacks or evade. Stay far away and keep moving, using cover and leading him in circles back and forth across the arena. Briefly, Saddler will open his mouth and reveal a yellow eye weak spot. If you can damage the eye, you can stagger him. Either way, applying enough high damage will stagger Saddler and leave him vulnerable to Ada’s knife attack.

  • Don’t miss the [ First Aid Spray ] to the right of the stairs. From the bottom of the steps to the altar, look right.

Saddler will charge and launch a massive attack that covers most of the arena — you’ll see two vortexes appear above him. Quickly hide behind one of the tall pillars to avoid taking damage. Perform three knife special attacks on Saddler to put him down.

To begin, walk north and you'll immediately find a Merchant shop. Make any purchases you'd like, break the barrels, then continue progressing through the Underground Passage while defeating any soldiers that get in your way.

When you reach the trip mines, crouch under them, and when the crossbow Brute charges toward you, lure them into the mine for an efficient kill. After taking down the Brute and his minions, hop into the elevator, and you'll be taken to the third floor.

Once on the third floor, break the crates, collect the Gunpowder , Yellow Herb , and Flash Grenade , then take a break for some quick Treasure hunting.

Enter the doorway at the end of the cavernous passage, and you'll trigger a brief cutscene.

Sw chp7 - 19.png

When you walk through the doorway, Ada will provide covering fire that allows Leon to rescue Ashley and flee to safety. Unfortunately, this leaves Ada on her own to take on Saddler. To defeat the depraved cult leader, follow the tips in the list below:

  • Strategically use the pillars in the arena to avoid Saddler's standard tentacle strikes. Saddler's tentacle strike can also be blocked with your knife.
  • Try to bait Saddler into walking through the narrow corridor at the center of the stage. This will not only allow you to heal and reload but also enable you to line up shots with your weapon of choice.
  • Saddler frequently uses an underground strike, so prepare to Evade when you see him punch the ground.
  • When Saddler spews a stream of sludge, quickly duck behind cover to reload in safety.
  • When Saddler holds his hand facing the sky, hide behind a pillar to avoid his incoming projectiles.
  • Both ends of the stage have crates housing abnormally large amounts of loot.

Once you've seemingly defeated Saddler, Ada will retrieve the Amber. But while her back is turned, Saddler is reanimated and captures the covert operative.

After Leon rescues a tied-up Ada, Saddler transforms into his grotesque final form and splits up the reluctant duo. While Leon faces off against Saddler, you must search for a powerful weapon capable of taking down the seemingly unkillable monster.

Sw chp7 - 11.png

Break the nearby crates, then head to the southern vantage point and use Ada's binoculars to get a closer look at the soldier-occupied platform across from you. Here, you'll find the Rocket Launcher you need.

To get to the Rocket Launcher, grapple to the southern platform, and when you land, a timer will begin to tick down. Head southward toward the structure with the Rocket Launcher, and the enemies will start shooting rockets and arrows.

Sw chp7 - 12.png

Use the wooden panel to avoid their fire, quickly eliminate the soldiers, then grapple to the west. From here, head north and drop to the lower platform before advancing southward to land in the structure where the Rocket Launcher is found.

To reach the upper floor, walk to the western side of the structure, shoot the trip mine to deactivate it and trek up the southern staircase. In the following area, you'll get swarmed by soldiers and a crossbow-wielding Brute.

While you may feel tempted to shoot the Explosive Barrels immediately, it's best to wait for the Brute to enter the blast radius since he's such a tanky opponent.

Sw chp7 - 14.png

Defeat the final enemy protecting the door, then press X on the door to kick the lock until it breaks. Next, gun down the enemies with the Rocket Launchers while using the sandbags as cover from their missiles.

Sw chp7 - 15.png

Sprint to the southern end, grapple to the west to reach the top floor, then race to the Rocket Launcher. As you collect the powerful weapon, a cutscene will play.

Sw chp7 - 16.png

When it ends, quickly grapple onto the crane west of your location. As you prepare to grapple northward, Novistadors and Saddler will intervene. Wipe out the insects, then shoot the eyeball to clear a path forward.

Once you're on the northern platform, eliminate the various enemies guarding the area and head north to prompt Saddler to block your path again. Shoot the eye until the tentacle moves out of your way, and when it moves, more enemies will appear including a Brute.

Sw chp7 - 17.png

Wipe them out to advance and enter the elevator ahead. After a brief interaction with Ashley, grapple across onto the northern crane and pull the lever on the control panel.

Grapple again to land back on the shipping container and sprint to the end to trigger a cutscene before it's too late.

Sw chp7 - 18.png

As Ada chucks the Rocket Launcher down to Leon so he can finish off Saddler, congrats! You have just finished the RE4 Separate Ways DLC! Don't forget to stick around past the credits to watch the Separate Ways post-credit scene!

Resident Evil 4 Remake Chapter 16: How to beat Osmund Saddler

Let's finally get out of here.

At last, we have finally reached the ultimate chapter of Resident Evil 4 Remake . Leon (and Ashley) have dealt with a hell of a lot so far, with Leon beating giants, lake monsters, and multiple paarsites in the process.

Leon has one last thing left to do before taking Ashley home, however, and that's making sure this island and the Las Plagas parasite is gone for good. Alas, it's time for us to face Saddler and burn the island to a crisp. Here's the final chapter of Resident Evil 4 Remake , which explains how to beat Saddler and escape the island .

Resident Evil 4 Remake Chapter 16

After taking Ashley to Luis’ laboratory in Chapter 15 , Leon will also succumb to the Las Plaga parasite. However, there’s no need to worry, because Ashley has us covered. At the start of Chapter 16, Leon will wake up right as rain again. Now, it’s time to make our way off this damned island.

Exit Luis’ laboratory and have Ashley lower the collapsible ladder on your left.

Go up the ladder and follow the path around into the Sanctuary. At the end of the Sanctuary, you can loot an Iluminados Pendant. On the right-hand side of the room, however, where there is seemingly a dead-end, you can grapple up a ledge.

Leon faces the ledge in the Sanctuary in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Continue through the next tunnel until you reach the Merchant . If you have any unfinished business across Resident Evil 4, he’ll now warn you that this is the time to tend to it.

Once we head outside and get Chapter 16 truly kicked off, there’s no turning back! That said, make sure to do everything you want to do with the Merchant right now, too, as we’re about to face the ominous Osmund Saddler.

When you’re ready, go outside and take the elevator down towards Ada.

How to beat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Following the cutscene, we’ll be fighting with Saddler-turned-spider, as his mutated form looks horribly like an alien arachnid. Let’s not also forget he has a dozen Novistadors around, helping divert your attention from shooting him.

Tackle the Novistadors as soon as they appear so that they don’t swarm you. The rest of the time, we want to be aiming at the glowing eyes on Saddler’s limbs. When you successfully damage all the eyes, he’ll stumble, giving us the opportunity to melee the eye on his head, or fire a hefty shot at it.

Saddler has a few attacks he can throw at us. Firstly, you’ll need to avoid some of his attacks by evading them when the prompt appears. Other times, he’ll swipe at you with his claws; you’ll want to run to evade these, or simply keep your distance. When he climbs around the arena, he’ll also throw debris at you, which you’ll want to avoid.

Leon faces a mutated Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Keep a keen eye out for him straight-up jumping atop Leon, and on occasion, he’ll projective vomit up some corrosive spit at you. Yum. Other times, he’ll try to slam you with one of his many sharp limbs. Ultimately, this fight is a lot of running back and forth, trying to find the right time to blast away those beady eyes.

As the fight goes on, Saddler will slowly break parts of the boss arena, gradually limiting you to a smaller space. So, run around and loot the area as early as possible if you’re short on ammo or medicine.

At short-range, I personally found my fully upgraded pistol to do the trick (I was using the Blacktail for most of my first run). When I struggled, the shotgun was better for ensuring you hit Saddler’s weak spots without needing precise aim.

At long-distance, when Saddler begins to climb the surrounding beams in the arena, I whipped out the Stingray rifle, with the Biosensor Scope still attached. This made targeting those eyes of Saddler’s super easy, and also super satisfying.

Don’t forget that you can use your grenades when Saddler is on the ground, too, for some extra damage. You might as well use everything you’ve got left!

After three melee attacks on the giant, a cutscene will play out. We’re then faced with the second phase of this right, which sees Saddler reduced to a huge pile of writhing tentacles. Shoot at him, and dodge his attacks, until Ada comes to save the day with a grenade launcher.

Leon faces Saddler while holding the grenade launcher in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Use the grenade launcher to then finish Saddler off for good.

How to escape the island in Resident Evil 4 Remake

After the next cutscene, it’s time for Leon and Ashley to flee this island before it explodes. You’ll have a short timer appear now, and all you need to do is run straight; the path from here to our ride out of here is completely linear, and there are no enemies to worry about!

When you arrive at the boat, use the key on it and hop aboard. Now, the fun begins! Ride out of the cave, while dodging any following rocks and taking care to not drive into any hurdles. If the boat becomes too damaged, your mission will be failed at the final hurdle, and we don’t want that.

For some reason, I couldn’t help but shake my controller like I was playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe each time Leon went over a ramp. I hope I wasn't alone in that. Anyway, have fun, and once you’re out of this cave, it’s all over!

Enjoy the final cutscenes, and make sure to wait for those credits to roll… you’re in for a nice surprise. Congratulations for completing Resident Evil 4, now do it again in New Game Plus !

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler Final Boss Guide

How to beat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler Final Boss Guide

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler is the main antagonist and one of the toughest bosses in the game. He’s responsible for the resurgence of the Plaga and leads the cult known as Los Iluminados, the same cult that kidnapped Ashley Graham.

Defeating Saddler, Resident Evil 4 Remake’s final boss, is crucial to completing the game, but it’s no easy feat. You’ll need to understand his attack patterns and weaknesses to come out on top. In this guide, we’ll provide you with tips and tricks to make the fight against Saddler easier, whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

In Resident Evil 4 Remake, the final boss battle against Osmund Saddler takes place in the Loading Docks from Chapter 16. Saddler transforms into a large monster with tentacles. To prepare for the fight, you should save the game, and keep this back up in case you fail so you can just restart from the beginning, then visit the store one last time to stock up on ammo.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Osmund Saddler final boss fight will be divided into two phases, keep these tips in mind to easily defeat Saddler:

  • Shoot his weak points which are his eyes.
  • Saddler also has additional eyes on his front legs which can be shot to make him stagger and fall down.
  • You can also use objects in the environment like gasoline barrels and cranes to stagger Saddler.
  • Be careful of the bridges that connect the two halves of the arena, as they constantly switch up and down.
  • Use evade to timely dodge swings and avoid being grabbed by Saddler’s tentacles, or the poisonous substance that it emits.
  • It takes only a couple of direct hits on Saddler’s main eye to trigger Ada to throw a rocket launcher for you to pick up, which you need to do so quickly.
  • Once Saddler is defeated, Ada will throw a key to a jetski for Leon to use to escape the island. You will have to weave through the river while avoiding obstacles and making sure that you get out of the island in time.

As Leon and Ashley attempt to escape the secluded island, they are stopped by Osmund Saddler who wants to eliminate them himself. Leon then saves the tied-up Ada and proceeds to confront Saddler who then turns into his mutated form, with an eye growing inside his mouth and additional appendages growing out of his body.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 1 - Resident Evil 4 Remake

Like many other bosses, Saddler has weak points which are his eyes. Aside from the one in his mouth, there are also eyes on his front legs. These eyes are usually shut, but once they open up, shooting them will make the boss stagger and fall down. At this point, the eye in his mouth will become vulnerable and you can shoot it to deal damage. Saddler can also summon flying creatures to help him, but it’s best to ignore most of them and kill only those close to Leon.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 1 - Resident Evil 4 Remake (2)

Aside from your guns and grenades, you can also use objects in the environment to stagger Saddler. There are barrels of gasoline that you can shoot to make them explode once the boss is near them. These barrels are effective even if none of his eyes are open. There are also levers on top of platforms on both ends of the arena. Pulling these will make the cranes carrying beams swing and hit the boss, causing Saddler to get staggered. You will have to wait for the boss to get on the main platform where you are on before pulling the lever to make sure that the beams hit.

One other thing to be aware of with the arena is the two bridges that connect the two halves. These constantly switch up and down, and if you are caught crossing it as it drops down, you will need to do a QTE to make Leon hang on to the bridge and climb back up the platform.

During the fight, maintain a safe distance from Saddler to avoid his charges and regular attacks. Shoot the big eyes on his body, but only when they’re open. After destroying several eyes, Saddler will collapse onto the arena. Quickly run up to him and use your knife to stab his central eye.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 2 - Resident Evil 4 Remake

In the second phase, the combat area is very limited, and Saddler will have two types of attacks: horizontal sweeps and vertical strikes. You must avoid Saddler’s horizontal sweeps and vertical strikes at all cost by dodging while shooting the core of the boss with any weapon.

It should just take a couple of direct hits on Saddler’s main eye to trigger Ada to throw a rocket launcher for you to pick up. Just make sure to have enough slots in your inventory to be able to pick up the weapon. Once you have it, aim at the boss and fire. You don’t have to wait for any of its eyes to be open. Once the shot connects, the boss goes down and dies through a cutscene.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 2 - Resident Evil 4 Remake (2)

Saddler then drops a sample of the Plaga, but just as Leon picked it up, Ada threatens Leon with a gun to hand over the sample to her. Leon complies and Ada flies away in a chopper, but not before activating the explosions set in the island and tossing over a key to a jetski for Leon to use. You will only have less than three minutes, so make your way to the lift to grab Ashley and head over to the jet ski. You will then have to weave through the river while avoiding obstacles and making sure that you get out of the island in time. The scene then ends with both Leon and Ashley escaping and the credits start to roll.

Rewards for defeating Osmund Saddler

Congratulations! After successfully defeating Osmund Saddler, you will receive the gold trophy You’re Small Time! for defeating the final boss.
