Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) Program

In our hybrid online Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program, you’ll become an exceptional practitioner in a short timeframe by completing coursework without needing to relocate for classes. You’ll gain the knowledge and skills to assess and treat people with communication and swallowing differences and disorders using real-world evidence-based approaches.

By studying a masters in speech-language pathology online and in-person, during 4 on-campus residencies, you’ll break the barriers of communication and empower people with tools that positively impact their lives. Job Outlook – Employment of speech-language pathologists is projected to grow 19 percent from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations. Unique Features of our MS-SLP Program

  • The MS-SLP program is an immersive speech pathology master’s program that’s primarily online. Complete your coursework online and then attend the Austin, Dallas or San Marcos campus for three days, four times out of five trimesters, for on-campus residency experiences focused on clinical skills training.
  • The hybrid online SLP graduate program at our three campuses is designed to span just five trimesters (1 year, 8 months)*.
  • While most speech pathology masters programs online offer one intake, we have intakes in Spring, Summer, and Fall.
  • GRE scores are not required for admission to our speech-language pathology graduate program.
  • You’ll gain hands-on experience in real and simulated clinical settings, and you’ll practice using state-of-the-art endoscopy equipment—a rare feature among speech-language pathology master’s program.
  • You will engage in clinical practica, both virtually and in person, with populations of all ages as you work toward earning 400 clinical clock hours.
  • You’ll have a chance to participate in our speech-language pathology pro bono clinic, in which SLP students assess and provide therapy to people from the local community via telehealth.
  • You will earn a certificate in cultural and linguistic diversity.

MS-SLP Clinical Practica

USAHS has a diverse range of clinics, hospitals and schools* (depending on your state of residence) where you may be assigned to complete your clinical practica. The clinical practicum courses in ourhybrid online speech-language pathology program will help you to develop essential professional skills and determine what setting best fits your career goals. Clinical placements are determined by USAHS based on the student’s academic needs and to provide the best educational experience. Students should plan on the need to travel and/or relocate for clinical experiences. Please visit the “ MS-SLP Accreditation ” page for more information on states from which we are currently accepting applications for enrollment .

* Note: Some states require an additional certification or license in order to work in a school setting. Students should be advised that the program is designed and intended to prepare graduates for SLP licensure in many states. However, graduates may need to complete additional requirements to be eligible for a license or certificate to work in a school setting or to have the ability to complete practicum in a school setting in his/her particular state of residence or school district, depending on the state and/or school district’s unique requirements. Students should contact the state board of education or his or her school district directly to determine if the program meets the requirements for state SLP certification or licensure in a school setting.

MS-SLP Leveling Courses

USAHS has designed several leveling courses to serve as a pathway to the master’s program for undergraduates with a degree in something other than Communication Sciences and Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology or for an equivalent degree whose program did not include one or more leveling courses. The leveling courses also provide applicants with the necessary prerequisites to enter the hybrid online Master of Speech-Language Pathology program at USAHS.

Courses are available in the Spring term (January), Summer term (May) & Fall term (September), 15 weeks in length, asynchronous & synchronous learning.

Each leveling course costs $550. Note, these courses are not eligible for federal financial aid. Payment is required at the time of registration which begins approximately 30 days before the term start. A copy of your transcript demonstrating an awarded bachelor’s degree is required for enrollment. Please be sure to upload it as part of completing your registration form below.

SLP 5003 – Introduction to Audiology

This course presents concepts and rationale underlying the measurement of hearing and balance disorders, with special reference to hearing science, anatomy and physiology, and measurement techniques.

SLP 5005 – Aural Rehabilitation

This course involves an introduction to the field of audiologic rehabilitation and examines the treatment of hearing disorders across the lifespan. Students study hearing technology, educational considerations, and nonmedical rehabilitation options for the treatment of audiological disorders.

SLP 5008 Speech Anatomy and Physiology

This course involves the study of the anatomy and physiology of the speech and hearing mechanisms. Students will study the structure and function of the skeletal, neurological, and muscular systems for respiration, phonation, articulation and resonation, as well as mastication and deglutition and the hearing mechanism. The organization and physiology of related nervous systems and functional implications will be explored.

SLP 5014 Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders

This course introduces students to the professions and field of communication sciences and disorders (CSD). Basic concepts related to communication, speech, and language; typical development, anatomy, and physiology; as well as communication disorders occurring across the lifespan will be examined. Cultural differences, communication disturbances and disorders related to identification, assessment, and evidenced-based treatment will be explored.

SLP 5026 Phonetics

This course involves phonetic analysis of normal and disordered speech, including training in transcription using the international phonetic alphabet. The motoric aspects of speech sound production, including a concrete description of the distinct properties that are associated with the production of these speech sounds will be explored.

SLP 5032 Normal Speech and Language Development

This course involves theoretical concepts and research findings concerning the normal developmental processes of speech and language learning and provides an understanding of child speech and language from infancy through adolescence, focusing on normal development. Students will study language and literacy development for monolingual and bilingual children.

MS-SLP Scholarships

Scholarships are available for new students admitted to the MS-SLP program for the Fall 2024 term. The application deadline is August 1, 2024.  A separate scholarship application is required for these awards.  We encourage you to review the eligibility requirements and apply for these scholarships.

Note on Licensure, Authorization, Endorsement, or Other State Credential Necessary to Practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist

Each state board that is responsible for regulating the practice of speech-language pathologists has its own academic requirements and issues its own license to practice in that state. Most state licensing boards require that Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program graduates graduate from a CAA accredited or Accreditation Candidate status Speech-Language Pathology program and pass the Praxis Speech-Language Pathology exam to apply for an intern/provisional license while working on their Clinical Fellowship (CF) for national certification (Certificate of Clinical Competence, CCC) requirements. Licensure requirements may vary in school or other settings. The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).

It remains the student’s responsibility to understand, evaluate, and comply with all requirements relating to field education experiences, licensing or certification, authorization or endorsement for the state in which she or he resides.

Speech-Language Pathology in a School Setting

Some states require an additional certification or license in order to work in a school setting. Students should be advised that the USAHS’ MS-SLP program is designed and intended to prepare graduates for SLP licensure in many states. However, graduates may need to complete additional requirements to be eligible for a license or certificate to work in a school setting or to have the ability to complete practicum in a school setting in their particular state of residence or school district, depending on the state and/or school district’s unique requirements.  Students should contact the state board of education or his or her school district directly to determine if the USAHS’ MS-SLP program meets the requirements for state SLP certification or licensure in a school setting.

Note on ASHA Certification

Speech-Language Pathology program graduates must hold a degree from a Speech-Language Pathology program that is accredited or in Accreditation Candidate status by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA), and complete the Clinical Fellow (CF) experience, in order to be eligible to apply for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech and Hearing Association’s (ASHA) Council for Clinical Certification. This credential is required in order to practice as a nationally certified speech-language pathologist in many settings in many states. The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences MS-SLP program is accredited by the CAA.

All states require that SLP graduates pass the Praxis Speech-Language Pathology exam in order to be eligible to practice as a licensed speech-language pathologist.

Mission :  The mission of the Masters of Speech-Language Pathology program at USAHS is to graduate clinicians who can identify and manage a full range of communication conditions across the life span. Admission requirements.

Q:  What if I completed my prerequisites more than 5 years ago?

A:  We recommend that prerequisites for the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) be completed no more than 5 years prior to enrollment—but c ontact an enrollment advisor to discuss your situation.

Q:  What if my GPA for my prerequisite courses is under 3.0?

A: Contact an enrollment advisor to discuss the admission requirements. Our Enrollment team will advise you about courses you can complete—or possibly retake—to increase your prerequisite GPA.

Q: Is the GRE required for admissions to the program?

A: No. The GRE is not required for admission to our MS-SLP program.

Q: Do all applicants receive an admission interview?

A:  Applicants who meet our admission requirements receive an interview as part of the admissions process.

CSDCAS Application

Q: If I’m missing observation hours, how do I complete them for the application?

A:  You can complete your observation hours by taking a leveling course with USAHS. Reach out to an enrollment advisor to discuss options.

Q: Do I need to send transcripts to the University and CSDCAS?

A:  No — please submit your transcripts directly to CSDCAS with your application.

Q:  What should I write about in my personal essay?

A:  When you fill out the CSDCAS application, you will receive the essay prompt, “Why do you think you can make a difference in speech-language pathology?” Your response should be approximately two pages, double-spaced.

Q: Can I submit the application with missing requirements?

A:  Yes—you can submit your application with as many as three pending items. Reach out to an enrollment advisor to discuss the pending items and develop a plan to complete them.

Q: Can I apply for admission to all of the campuses – Austin, Dallas and San Marcos ?

A:  No—you can apply to only one campus. Please speak with an enrollment advisor for help in designating your campus preference.

About the MS-SLP Program

Q:  What tools are available to help me succeed in an online speech pathology program?

A:  The Student Readiness Orientation includes information about how to use Blackboard, how to create videos for assignments, study skills tips, library tips, and more. Beyond the orientation, USAHS offers several resources to help our students succeed in their online studies, including a writing center, an extensive virtual library, and tutoring services. During the admissions and enrollment process, you can seek guidance from your enrollment advisor; once you begin classes, please reach out to your student success advisor or faculty advisor.

Q:  What are the differences between the Austin, Dallas and San Marcos campuses?

A: All of our campuses offer a unique and vibrant experience. But take our virtual tours of the Austin , Dallas and San Marcos to see the difference for yourself!

Q: How many students are admitted per cohort?

A: Cohort sizes range between 30 to 55 students.  You will enter with a cohort and progress through the speech-language pathology master’s program together, collaborating and bonding.

Q:  How competitive is it to get into USAHS’ master’s program in speech-language pathology?

A:  The hybrid online speech pathology program is competitive, as is the field of SLP in general. You can meet with an enrollment advisor to discuss any specific questions.

Q: Is it easier to gain admissions for the Fall, Summer or Spring term?

A:  The SLP field is competitive by nature, regardless of the term start date.

Speech@NYU is the online SLP master’s program offered by the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders.  It is designed for aspiring speech-language pathologists who want the flexibility to pursue fulfilling careers in a variety of settings.

The online modality of the SLP master’s program is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and prepares you to work toward speech-language pathology certification. Clinical Training in the Online Master’s in Speech Pathology

In the speech-language pathology program, you are assigned a dedicated placement specialist who will work with you to find NYU Steinhardt faculty-approved clinical field placement sites in or near your community.

With Speech@NYU, you will receive the in-depth training to provide forward-thinking, culturally competent care to clients of all ages without having to relocate.

As a student, you will complete a five-part sequence of on-campus clinical practicum and clinical field placement experiences at your placement site.

Clinical Immersions

Before beginning field placements, you will attend two immersions to help adequately prepare you to conduct clinical diagnostics in speech pathology and work more independently in your clinical experiences.

During these immersions, you will:

  • Provide language, hearing, cognitive, and/or swallowing screens to diverse communities.
  • Receive dedicated supervision and receive on-the-spot feedback from speech-language pathologists.
  • Participate in specialized workshops relating to topics such as language screening, instrumental assessment of voice disorders, dysphagia screening, and aphasia treatment.

You have the flexibility to pursue your SLP graduate degree  full time or part time based on your scheduling needs . Speech-Language Pathology Prerequisites (SLPP) Program

Students complete core leveling (BA-level) courses in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) in this online, non-degree program. Students complete 8 courses (24 credits) in 4 semesters (summer, fall, spring, summer), enabling them to apply for Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) certificate programs and/or Master’s programs in Speech-Language Pathology.

Program Cost The SLPP courses are offered through Continuing Education. The tuition rate is the same for in-state and out-of-state students. The current tuition for each 3-credit course is $1,140 ($380 per credit) so the cost of the entire program is approximately $9,120 for in-state or out-of-state students (without textbooks or potential materials costs). Tuition rates are subject to increase.

Financial Aid Students enrolled in the SLPP program are eligible to apply for the limited federal aid (loans only for a maximum of three semesters in a 12-month period) available to students who are not formally admitted to a degree program. Students from BOCES, high-needs, inner-city and rural districts are encouraged to talk with district personnel about financial support to complete the program.

Prerequisite Requirements Students have used the SLPP coursework to gain entrance to a wide range of programs, both in and out of state. However, students should verify with their intended program of study to ensure that the SLPP courses meet their requirements. Completion of the SLPP program does not guarantee acceptance into CU’s MA-SLP program, which is a competitive process each year.

In Calvin University’s online Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology program, you’ll gain clinical hours with our expert clinical faculty, practice providing care for patients, and study the causes and treatment of communication disorders — all with the supporting framework of the Christian faith.

Prospective graduate applicants with an undergraduate degree or equivalent coursework in speech pathology and audiology or with degrees in other disciplines/areas of study may apply to the online Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology program. Please note that simply meeting the criteria is not a guarantee of admission. As is the case with most graduate programs in speech pathology, admission is highly competitive. Admission to the Master’s program only is dependent on the criteria listed below.



The CSDCAS is required for pursuing a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology program.

It is recommended to complete the application (e-submitted, payment received, transcripts received) at least three to four weeks in advance of the deadline to ensure the application is verified on time by CSDCAS. The Master’s program requires that all transcripts must be submitted directly to CSDCAS, not to Calvin University.

You can complete the program in 2 years.

No, the MA in Speech-Language Pathology program is a full-time program. However, the MA can be completed in a 2-year or 3-year track. The 2-year track is accelerated and students generally take 2 didactic courses plus a clinic course in each 8-week block. The 3-year track is still considered full-time, but students only take one didactic course per 8-week block the first year, and one didactic course plus a clinic course per 8-week block in the second year and third years. Regardless of track, the final year of the program contains three clinical externship semesters which are full-time Monday-Friday experiences.

Baylor University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders brings 60 years of SLP education experience to online learners rooted in research, clinical experiences, and real-world competencies.

By pursuing a career as a speech-language pathologist (SLP), you’ll not only serve your community, but you will also join an in-demand field. Employment of SLPs is projected to grow 21 percent from 2021 to 2031.

From 2020 to 2023, graduates of Baylor’s online and residential CSD master’s programs had a 89.63% Praxis pass rate — and an employment rate of 96.8%.

Online Baylor CSD students learn from live instructors in the evening and spend their daily hours at placement sites, completing a minimum of 400 clinical hours.

Program Components

The 45-credit online CSD graduate program can be completed in five trimesters (full time) or seven to 11 trimesters (part time). As part of the program, you will be required to complete three clinical practica and a clinical internship. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders in children and adults with innovative clinical work and evidence-based practice.

The courses that make up the program’s curriculum integrate academic, research, and clinical experiences. As a student in the online CSD graduate program, you will be exposed to current theories, principles, cutting-edge technologies, research methods, and practices. As an online CSD graduate student, you will attend live online classes each week, facilitating face-to-face interactions with your professors and peers.

In addition to the leveling and graduate coursework, you will be required to have passed the four sciences required by ASHA for certification: biology, chemistry or physics, social/behavioral, and statistics. It is recommended that these courses be completed prior to starting the program, if at all possible.

The curriculum includes clinical experiences, providing ongoing, real-world experience and valuable networking opportunities. Students complete at least 400 clinical clock hours across one internship and three practica for nine credit hours in total. Each practicum counts as one credit hour and involves a weekly commitment of 24-36 hours. The internship counts as five credits and involves a weekly commitment of 35-40 hours.

Program Tracks

Hold a CSD bachelor’s degree or have completed required post-baccalaureate work in the speech field within the last five years.

Hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-CSD major and have not completed introductory courses in speech, language, and hearing; these applicants must complete leveling courses (available through the Baylor program) before starting graduate coursework.

  • Graduate Admissions

Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences maintains the same admissions standards for the SLP master’s online as it does for the on-campus program. In order to apply, students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. An undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher is preferred. About speech and language therapy degrees, what does a typical undergraduate degree cover, where can i study, funding your studies – england, funding your studies – scotland, funding your studies – wales, funding your studies – northern ireland.

In the UK, the title speech and language therapist is protected, so you must complete a registered, accredited degree-level course to practise as a speech and language therapist. This can be at university or as part of an apprenticeship .

University-based degree level courses can be completed at either undergraduate (BSc hons) level or postgraduate (PGDip or MSc) level.

The main differences and requirements for each are:

  • Undergraduate (BSc) – requires A level passes in various subjects. These are set by individual universities but, typically, subjects like languages (including English), biology, psychology, or sciences are accepted.
  • Postgraduate (PGDip or MSc) – requires a previous degree qualification in a related subject (check with the individual universities) usually a science, language or psychology degree. You will normally be required to have achieved a grade no lower than 2:1 in your previous degree to be accepted.

Undergraduate courses take between three and four years to complete depending on the university chosen.

Postgraduate courses usually take about two years to complete.

On successful completion, you’ll be able to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to register to practise as an SLT in the UK and to use the protected title.

What skills will I learn?

Communication – You will develop skills towards becoming an expert in communication and eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties Partnerships – You will learn to advocate collaboratively with service users, their families and other agencies and professionals involved in their care to transform their lives. Leadership and lifelong learning – SLTs are leaders in communication and EDS difficulties and lead the way in supporting service users to achieve their goals. You will start your journey of lifelong learning to provide evidence-based interventions for service users. Research and evidence-base practice – You will learn to search for, critically evaluate and contribute to the body of professional knowledge and best practice. Professional autonomy and accountability – You will learn about the scope of practice for SLTs and how to take responsibility as an autonomous and accountable professional.

Practical learning/ placements

Practice based learning opportunities are an integral part of pre-registration training.  Each learner must achieve at least 150 sessions of practice-based learning throughout their course.  One session is equivalent to half a day. Placements are either concurrent (you attend for 1-2 days per week over a period of several weeks with the remaining weekdays in university) or block (usually 3-5 days per week over a period of several weeks). More information can be provided by each institution.

Throughout your course, you will have the opportunity to see a variety of service users in a variety of settings.  For example:

  • children in a community clinic who have difficulties with their speech sounds
  • children with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties in special educational needs schools
  • premature babies in neonatal units who need help developing feeding skills
  • Public health placements encompass addressing wider messaging around developing communication and EDS awareness and intervention at a global level
  • adults nearing the end of their life in hospice placements having communication difficulties
  • people with communication and swallowing difficulties who have had a stroke in acute hospitals settings

You’ll practice a wide variety of practical skills during placements. If you feel that you would have difficulties with some of these skills, please speak to your prospective HEIs before applying.  They will be able to discuss reasonable adjustments available and how students are supported on placements and on the course.

Examples of skills:

  • looking in the mouths of children and adults to assess oral movements
  • cleaning an adult or child’s mouth
  • complete infection control procedures including hand washing and decontaminating equipment
  • holding babies
  • assisting in positioning a service user
  • assisting and/or feeding service users
  • touching a service users face and neck to assess movements
  • travelling to different placement locations
  • having difficult discussions with service users and their families
  • talking to service users about the results of an assessment and future intervention
  • being able to concentrate in a busy and noisy environment such as a nursery or hospital ward
  • being able to talk to people through different methods e.g. over the phone, through emails
  • composing reports

Students who have taken out a student loan are able to access another loan to study these courses. This is not the standard postgraduate student loan but the loan accessed by undergraduate students to cover tuition fees and support living costs.

In December 2019, the Government announced that, in addition to existing student support, from September 2020 students studying the nursing, midwifery and allied health subjects will receive a non-repayable and non-means tested grant of at least £5,000 a year.

We have confirmed that this funding will be available to speech and language therapy students. Funding will be offered to existing students as well as new course entrants.

There will be additional funding available to attract students to the highest-priority subjects based on the Government’s assessment of vulnerability and workforce priorities.

Additional funding will also be available for childcare and to support regional vulnerabilities. Total additional funding could come to as much as £3,000 per year for some students.

In Scotland, students are supported under the general funding system and can apply for bursaries and loans depending on status and income.

Additional allowances are available depending on circumstances such as:

  • dependants’ grant for carers
  • lone parents’ grant
  • disabled students’ allowance

The NHS Welsh Bursary Scheme is provided by Student Awards Services.  In addition to tuition fees, the NHS Wales Bursary Scheme includes a bursary for living costs:

  • a £1,000 non-means tested grant
  • a means tested bursary

Students are also supported for costs such as:

  • accommodation (while on placement)
  • disabled student allowance
  • dependants allowance
  • parental learning allowance

For students who have lived in Northern Ireland for the last three years, the Department of Health in Northern Ireland will pay tuition fees directly to the university. Students can apply for an income-assessed bursary to help with living costs and may also be eligible to apply for a reduced rate non-income assessed loan.

Students from EU countries who are ordinarily resident and studying in Northern Ireland may also qualify for financial support. The amount of bursary available to students will depend on an individual and family’s income.

The Master of Science degree with a major in Speech-Language Pathology prepares students to practice in public and private schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and private practice as speech-language pathologists. The educational program includes instruction in a broad array of diagnostic and treatment paradigms as well as supervised hands-on experience in the department's unique Center for Communication Disorders and at selected off-campus sites including schools and hospitals.

Individuals who enter the graduate program with all prerequisite coursework can complete the graduate program in five semesters, full-time (Fall, Spring, Summer, Fall, Spring). Individual programs for all students are designed to meet the requirements for certification in speech-language pathology by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Connecticut licensure, and special endorsement in speech-language pathology for Connecticut public schools. The Graduate Program Coordinator will review students’ prior coursework to confirm that all prerequisite courses have been completed and meet with students to plan their program. Students must maintain an overall and departmental GPA of 3.0 to remain in the program.   A “B-” or higher must be achieved in all academic courses and clinical practica.

Prior to the start of the graduate program in communication disorders, you must complete both ASHA prerequisite coursework and pre-professional coursework. Specific requirements for these prerequisites are outlined below.

ASHA Prerequisite Coursework

Prior to the start of the graduate program in communication disorders, you must complete courses in the following content areas:

  • Biological (human or animal) (1 course)
  • Physical Science (physics or chemistry) (1 course)
  • Statistics (1 course)
  • Social/Behavioral Science (psychology, sociology, anthropology, public health) (2 courses)

Pre-Professional Prerequisite Coursework

Prior to the start of the graduate program in communication disorders, you must either:

  • earn a bachelor's degree in communication disorders and sciences (speech-language-hearing sciences), OR
  • Phonetics and Phonological Systems
  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanisms
  • Language Development
  • Introduction to Audiology and Hearing Science 
  • Neurological Bases of Communication 
  • Speech Science 
  • Clinical Practice of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
  • Completion of all required and elective courses in a planned program with a GPA of at least 3.0 within the six-year limit.
  • Complete all clinical hours and practica requirements to meet ASHA and department standards.
  • Complete capstone - Either pass CMD 605 - Special Projects or successfully complete thesis (approved by School of Graduate Studies).

  • Apply for credentials to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist. The following are links to the agencies for licensure and teacher certification in Connecticut and for ASHA certification. Speech-language pathologists who work in Connecticut public schools must have school certification (Special Endorsement in Speech-Language Pathology). Although not required for admission to the graduate program, prospective students are strongly encouraged to complete the following coursework requirements prior to the beginning of their graduate studies. Once enrolled, the College of Education Certification Officer will review transcripts and communicate which course requirement(s) needs to be completed. The Graduate Program Coordinator can assist in locating courses as indicated by the Certification Office.

Application Process

As part of the  Graduate School  at Southern Connecticut State University, the Department of Communication Disorders offers a program leading to the Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Applicants must meet the admissions requirements of the Graduate School and the Department of Communication Disorders. A cumulative undergraduate degree GPA of 3.0 or higher is required for admission to the Graduate School. In order to be considered for admission, you must have either a Bachelor's Degree in CMD or have completed both ASHA Pre-Requisite Coursework and Pre-Professional Coursework for the SCSU CMD Graduate Program.

Fall semester:  January 15 Spring semester : Not offered

In order to apply to our program, you must complete applications in  both  the  Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application (CSDCAS)  and  Southern Connecticut State University's Graduate Application Portal .  It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure ALL required documents have been received in both CSDCAS and the Graduate Application Portal by the January 15th deadline.  Applications not completed by the deadline will not be reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

GRE scores are NOT a requirement of the admissions process.  However, standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, GRE, or PraxisCore) must be submitted to the SCSU Graduate Application Portal in order to meet the CT State Department of Education Teacher Certification requirements.

CSDCAS Application Process

Create an account, complete application materials in  CSDCAS . Please read the directions outlined in CSDCAS carefully in order to complete your application.

Submit to CSDCAS:

  • Official undergraduate and graduate degree transcripts from  all colleges or universities attended . 
  • A resume, no more than 2 pages. See details in the CSDCAS portal.
  • A 250-300 word well-written essay. See prompt in the CSDCAS portal.
  • A brief, 2 minute video essay. See prompt in the CSDCAS portal.
  • Three letters of recommendation (LORs). Chosen recommenders should be able to speak to the applicant's potential for success as a graduate student, as a professional in the field of speech-language pathology, or both. Faculty and/or direct supervisors of work in a related field with whom you have an established relationship are good choices for appropriate recommenders.  Please be advised that if you choose to submit more than three letters of recommendation, the Admission’s Committee will only review the first three LORs listed in your application.
  • Foreign transcripts from WES. (International students only). 
  • GRE scores are not required. However, standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, GRE, or PraxisCore) must be submitted to the SCSU Graduate Application Portal to meet the CT State Department of Education Teacher Certification requirements. 

Office of Graduate Admissions Application Process

Submit the SCSU Graduate School application and fee via online submission. Once the Graduate Application is submitted, applicants will be given access to the Graduate Application Portal and will be responsible for submitting required materials to the Graduate School. Applicants MUST check the Graduate Application Portal to make sure all materials have been processed by the Graduate School. If you have any questions, please call the  Office of Graduate Admissions .

Submit to the Graduate Application Portal:

  • Official undergraduate and graduate degree transcripts from  all colleges or universities attended . Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.   • Please note, when confirming that your application is complete, if you are enrolled in a Bachelor’s Program at the time of applying, your file will indicate an outstanding requirement for proof of Bachelor’s Degree.  This is expected if you have not completed your degree. Your file will be reviewed as complete if this is your only outstanding requirement.  If you are accepted into the program, you will need to submit an official transcript showing proof of degree no later than two weeks prior to the start of the fall term.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR DOCUMENT SUBMISSION OUTLINED ON  CSDCAS  AND THE  GRADUATE ADMISSION WEBSITE . IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH APPLICANT TO REVIEW CSDCAS AND THE GRADUATE APPLICATION PORTAL TO VERIFY THAT ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS ARE RECEIVED BY JANUARY 15.

Admissions decisions are made on a competitive basis. By April 1, letters are mailed to applicants indicating that they have been accepted, wait-listed or denied acceptance to the program. Accepted students have two weeks to reply before their admission status will be revoked. Letters of acceptance or rejection will then be mailed to wait-listed applicants.

All students accepted to the Communication Disorders Program must subsequently be formally admitted by the Office of Graduate Admissions and the School of Education upon final review of transcripts and application materials in order to finalize the admissions process.  Admitted students will meet with the Graduate Program Director at the time of program planning during the spring or summer following acceptance into the program. Accepted students begin their studies in the fall semester. 

Do I need to have an undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders in order to apply to the Master's Program? You must either have an undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders or have completed both ASHA Pre-Requisite Coursework and Pre-Professional Coursework listed on for the SCSU CMD graduate program outlined  here .  For any questions about required coursework, please reach out to our Undergraduate Coordinator, Dr. Kelly Mabry ( [email protected] ), to create a personalized plan PRIOR to applying to our graduate program. Please note: Federal financial aid may not be awarded for undergraduate courses taken while enrolled as a graduate student. 

Do I need to submit GRE scores as part of the application process? No, GRE scores are not required, however, submission of standardized test scores is necessary for the Connecticut State Department of Education requirements for school certification.  In order to meet this requirement for admission, standardized scores from the GRE, PRAXIS Core, ACT, or SAT must be submitted as part of the application process to the Graduate School Application.  Scores do not have an expiration date for this requirement. 

Do I need to submit the PRAXIS® Core, formerly PRAXIS® I, SAT or ACT scores? No, however, submission of standardized test scores is necessary for the Connecticut State Department of Education requirements for Special Services Endorsement. All students complete clinical placements in a public school system, so all students must meet the University's requirements for school certification. Standardized scores from the GRE, PRAXIS Core, ACT, or SAT are acceptable. Scores do not have an expiration date for this requirement. 

Is there a minimum undergraduate GPA required in order to be considered in the admissions process? The minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA to be considered is 3.0, however, the average cumulative GPA of the incoming class is often higher than 3.5. 

Is the Master’s Program in Speech Pathology a full-time program? The Graduate Program in the SCSU Department of Communication Disorders is a full-time program and requires students to take a minimum of 9 – 12 credits per semester to successfully complete all 63 – 66 required credits within 5 semesters. Students enrolling in our program will want to be aware of the time and effort required to successfully engage in the academic and clinical experiences. How much do the courses cost?

Each course is $15 per CEU hour. For example, a .1 CEU course is $15, a 90 minute course is $22, a 2 hour course is $30, etc.

What do I do if I have technical problems with a course?

Do you do live presentations or present this information in person?

Questions About ASHA CEUs Requirements and Certificates

When are ceu courses reported to asha will i receive credit for the correct date that i took the course.

Reporting is done monthly. ASHA CE Providers have up to 45 days from the course’s end date to report your course completion. Once ASHA CE receives the reporting, processing time usually takes one week. During periods of heavy volume, processing time on their end may be longer.

Therefore, you may not see your course on the ASHA transcript immediately after completion. Your completion certificate accurately shows the date that you completed the course.

Although the courses are reported quarterly, the CEU credit on your transcript will reflect the month in which you took the course.

I took a course before but have lost the certificate, can I get another one?

Yes, records are kept for three years. Contact us directly and provide your name, the name of the course and the date that you took the course.  We will produce a new certificate for you and email it for free.

How do we convert ASHA CEUs to hours (.1 CEU vs. 1 CEU)?

This is super confusing for most of us but here’s how it works. Within a 3 year cycle an SLP needs 30 hours of continuing education or basically 10 aSHA CEUs per year.  So one hour equals .1 CEU. Your certificate needs to say the correct decimal amount but it is easier to convert ASHA CEUs to hours for your records to know where you stand.

What is the difference between ASHA CEUs and other Speech Pathology CEUs?

ASHA approved CE providers must meet stringent standards set by ASHA’s Continuing Education Board. Only activities offering ASHA CEUs can be posted on your registry transcript. There are other types of Speech Pathology CEUs and credits in the marketplace. For example, some states offer speech therapy CEUs which meet their requirements but they have not submitted to meet ASHA CEUs requirements for maintaining your CCCs .

ASHA only regulates ASHA approved CEU courses and does not regulate other types of credit. We advise you to contact your state licensing board to see what other types of credit are acceptable toward your licensure requirements.

Will Bilinguistics speech pathology courses be recognized by my state?

If your state recognizes ASHA CEUs (which, to our knowledge, all of them do) then our courses can be used for maintenance of state licensure.

I didn't receive a CEU certificate in my email. What should I do?

First, please check your SPAM folder. The CEU certificate is generated as a .pdf file and some mail servers first treat it as spam. Additionally, your progress is always saved on your My Account page which you can access from the top menu and reprint your speech CEUs certificate at any time.

If you still cannot find your certificate, please email [email protected] with your name, course title, date you took the course and we will be happy to send it to you.

How do I receive my ASHA CEUs after taking a course?

Upon completion of a course, the certificate of completion can immediately be downloaded and is also emailed to you as a .pdf document.

You must provide your ASHA number in order to receive credit for any courses taken. You can check to make sure your ASHA number is correct and entered on your My Account page on the top menu.

About Postgraduate Speech Therapy

The field of speech therapy focusses on the assessment and treatment of speech and language disorders. It is a valued and highly rewarding career path that involves a lot of client communication, creating personalised treatment plans and implementing therapeutic interventions. The role often involves collaborating with other healthcare professionals, educators and family members and the results have a huge impact on the client’s wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of their families.

There are 16 universities in the UK which offer this course and 21 different courses among them. This is due to the various specialisms available at master’s degree level, such as forensic speed science, developmental psychology and language and acquired communication disorders. An upper second-class honours undergraduate degree is usually required to gain entry to a course.

What to Expect

A speech therapy master’s degree covers areas such as phonetics, language development, language pathology and bilingualism. Other areas of specialism include developmental and acquired speech, language and communication disorders, fluency disorders, aphasia, dementia and autism spectrum disorders. Expect a considerable amount of clinical practice, allowing you to build relationships with clients and build their confidence. Treatment is often a gradual process and consistency is important. Assessment methods can include supervised clinical placements, examinations and written essays on subjects of your choosing.

Graduates are prepared for roles as speech therapists, language pathologists and communication specialists, contributing to the improvement of communication skills and quality of life for individuals with speech disorders. Accredited by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) in the UK, this programme ensures graduates meet high professional standards in speech therapy.

Brief Description

The MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (Professional Qualification) is offered over two years full-time as a route to qualification for professional practice for applicants who have already attained an honours degree.

The MSc in SLT (professional qualification) programme is approved by CORU, the healthcare regulatory body of Ireland.  The MSc in SLT (professional qualification) programme is accredited by the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists, the professional body for SLTs in Ireland.

The Master of Science degree is undertaken through an intensive programme of full-time study involving academic and placement modules over two years including summer study periods. Placement components form a cornerstone of studies in Speech and Language Therapy.

Programme Aims

  • Provide graduate entry studies (NFQ level 9) in the clinical health science specialty of Speech & Language Therapy to suitable applicants, resulting in the degree of Masters in Speech & Language Therapy (Professional Qualification)
  • Prepare scientifically qualified practitioners who are ready to enter the challenging professional field of Speech & Language Therapy.
  • Develop and maintain high quality clinical science research and teaching in the specialist field of Speech & Language Therapy at the University of Limerick.
  • Provide graduates of the programme with the necessary academic qualification required to apply to register with the Speech & Language Therapy Registration Board.

On completion of the course, graduates will have the necessary skills to undertake :

  • Effective and competent Speech & Language Therapy practice

Minimum of a second class honours primary degree (2.2) (Level 8 National Qualifications Authority of Ireland) or a postgraduate degree (Level 9 National Qualifications Authority of Ireland). The type of previous undergraduate degree awarded is not a limiting factor in terms of eligibility. 

Candidates may apply to this programme in the final semester of an undergraduate programme and must produce evidence that all requirements for postgraduate study are met by the end of June in the year that the programme commences.

For candidates who meet this requirement, the HPAT (Health Professions Admission Test-Ireland) will be used as the sole instrument to select students for this programme.

Candidates applying to the MSc (Professional Qualification) In Speech and Language Therapy in UL must register for HPAT-Ireland + Written Component (Registration fee €160).  This exam will take place on one date only in a number of different centres around Ireland.

For international candidates the International Student Admissions Test; ISAT will be used to select candidates.  ISAT exam dates:  there are many exam dates from March to January each year.  Applicants must have sat the exam by 31st January in year of which they wish to apply.

Successful completion of the Garda Vetting process, Health Screening & Vaccinations Certification and CPR certification are programme requirements for this degree programme. Health Screening/Vaccination Certificates will incur costs to the student. Click for information on  Garda Clearance . 

Applicants should note that the Spelling and Grammar Waiver for students registered with the Disability Office is not applicable to the MSc Speech and Language Therapy (Professional Qualification) programme.

The Masters in Science in speech and language therapy requires higher level English proficiency standards as set by the regulatory body CORU. The requirements include: IELTS Academic Overall score 8.0 (no element below 7.5), or Minimum of Grade C (Minimum Score of 185) on the Cambridge CEFR C1 Test, or Occupational English Test OET (Speech Pathology) A minimum of grade A (400) in three components and B (350) in one component (listening, reading, writing and speaking).

Applications must include:

  • Qualification transcripts and certificates with official stamps where required
  • A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate (long document)
  • Completed consent to  travel form
  • Applications which do not provide all of the above will not be considered
  • If your qualifications have been obtained in a country where English is an official language this will suffice

This is a selected entry qualification. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

To enter the Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy with Honours you will be selected into the qualification based on a selection process that will include:

  • a written application
  • criminal record check
  • referee checks.

You will need to provide the following documents: 

  • personal supporting statement
  • confidential school (if still at school) or other tertiary institution report
  • verified copies of academic records for study other than at Massey.

English language requirements

To enter the Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy you will have achieved an IELTS of 7.0 with no band less than 7.0 within the preceding two years if English is not your first language. You must attach a verified copy of your results to your application.

About the selection process

  • Applications received after the final application date will be considered but may have to begin study with a subsequent intake.
  • The first part of the selection process involves assessment of your written application by Massey academic staff. If the selection committee feel you potentially meet the selection criteria, you will be invited to an interview.
  • The interview is the second part of the selection process.
  • If after this interview the panel is satisfied that you are a suitable candidate you may be offered a place, depending on available places.

Referee reports

We require two people who can act as referees for you and who are able to provide informed responses on your personal suitability for the programme. A referee should be someone who has known you for one year or more in the capacity of employer, educator, work colleague or person of community standing, ie kaumātua, minister or similar. Your referee should not be a friend, flatmate, relative or someone who has not known you for at least a year. The information your referee supplies is confidential to those involved in the selection process.

A curriculum vitae

Please provide a full employment history, as appropriate for your life situation, please include brief details on recent formal and/or informal experiences and/or involvement in the following areas:

  • experience with children/young adults
  • community activities
  • school activities
  • other activities (such as music, drama, art)
  • exposure to or experience with children or adults with communication and/or swallowing needs.
  • exposure to or experience with individuals who have health or learning difficulties.
  • any interactions with or observations of speech-language therapists
  • other cultures
  • teaching/tutoring/coaching/mentoring
  • outdoor education.

Police consent form and report

  • a completed NZ Police Request and Consent form, along with two pieces of verified identification (one of which must be photographic) from the list of acceptable forms of identification
  • a copy of a police report from every overseas country you have lived in for more 12 months in the last 10 years.

Once you have accepted the offer of a place in the selected entry programme, you will be enrolled for the first year of study as outlined in the Letter of Offer. Once you have been granted entrance and admission to the University your enrolment will be confirmed.

Safety checks and disclosure of criminal convictions

  • All applicants are required to undergo a number of safety checks. This includes police vetting (including confirmation of identity) and further checks required under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014, Vulnerable Children Regulations 2015 and the Children’s Action Plan. You will be required to permit the University to ask the New Zealand Police to disclose any information held on the Police record system.

Time limits for Honours, Distinction and Merit

If you complete this qualification within the stated time limit, you will normally be able to graduate with a class of Honours.

Structure of the Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy with Honours

The Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy is a parts-based qualification. That means you must complete the first part, before moving to the second etc.

If you study full-time, you’ll take 120 credits per year or 60 credits per semester.

For progression to Part 4 of Bachelor of Speech Language Therapy with Honours, you must have maintained at least a B+ grade average in the Part 3 courses.

If you do not meet the progression criteria, or do not wish to study the Part 4 Honours courses, you will be able to enrol in an alternative Part 4. Upon completion, you will graduate with the Bachelor of Speech Language Therapy – without Honours. Whether you complete the degree with or without honours, graduates from the programme are eligible for New Zealand Speech-language Therapists' Association registration.

A part-time option is available for this programme with the requirement of completion in a maximum of 8 years. Consult with the programme team to ensure your part-time plan meets the programme progression needs.

Distance study

The BSLT(Hons) is taught via distance learning. 

Clinical placements

You must show a satisfactory level of performance in clinical practica and achieve the level of competency required for practicing as a speech-language therapist in New Zealand. You will be required to complete work integrated learning experiences within the community. You are responsible for all of the costs associated with being on clinical placements (eg travel, accommodation, required health screening).

This course examines formations of identity and belonging in relation to concepts of place and turangawaewae (‘standing place’). The multiple factors shaping identity formation, citizenship and public engagement will be explored, and students will develop awareness of and reflect on diverse perspectives regarding identity and citizenship, and apply this understanding to analyse issues in contemporary New Zealand society.

An introduction to the practice of professionals working with individuals and families who have multicultural backgrounds and diverse needs within education and health settings.

This course uses holistic and biopsychosocial frameworks to describe and understand the nature and impact of communication disorders across the lifespan. Environmental and conversational partner strategies are highlighted to promote communication access for children and adults with speech, language and communication support needs.

Explores communication development in children including communication milestones and the influence of sociocultural factors related to cultural and linguistic diversity and conversational partners' support.

The central goal of the course is to consider how knowledge is represented and processed in the brain. Students will be introduced to the mental processes involved in thinking and knowing, studied within a converging methods framework that includes evidence from experimental psychology, neuroscience, neuropsychology, and cognitive science.

An examination of speech sound acquisition and the impact of speech sound disorders in children. Assessment and intervention approaches will be evaluated and applied to partnership-oriented and culturally safe practice with children and their families/whānau.

This course introduces students to frameworks for planning and analysing assessments and provides supported opportunities to practice assessment procedures.

This course supports students to begin to apply their speech-language therapy knowledge and skills to practice in well-supported contexts. The workplace learning is primarily with adults and/or children and their families|whānau.

An exploration of language and communication support needs experienced by school-aged children and young people in educational and community contexts. Support for their participation and learning in these contexts is based on evidence, neurodevelopmental, ecological, and sociocultural factors.

A theoretical and applied overview of neurological communication disorders, including acquired aphasia and related disorders.

An exploration of the auditory system and functions, how these may be disrupted, and the lived experience of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The course has a focus on assessment and support services, and strategies for facilitating communication across the lifespan.

An introduction to approaches and theories in applied linguistics with particular focus on language learning processes.

This course extends students’ clinical skills with an emphasis on holistic data gathering to inform intervention with particular attention to developing and consolidating intermediate-level clinical competencies, case management and responsiveness to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

A study of augmentative and alternative communication for individuals with complex communication needs.

An examination of neurological cognitive communication disorders as a result of acquired brain injury including right hemisphere disorders (RHD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and dementia.

An examination of motor speech disorders/disabilities (mainly dysarthria and apraxia) that result from brain injury. Motor speech disorders, as a communication disability in adults, will be addressed by applying assessment and management principles and practices.

An examination of the assessment, analysis and interpretation, planning and management of swallowing disabilities (dysphagia) in adults.

The study and application of research designs, relevant to current theory, research and practice, in speech and language therapy.

A research project based on systematic and analytical inquiry in an area related to speech and language therapy.

An advanced investigation of fluency disorders that occur during childhood and into adulthood with a focus on characteristics of fluency disorders and developmental and etiological factors. Evidence for assessment and intervention procedures will be critiqued, analysed, and applied to cases.

Advanced learning and inquiry related to specific communication needs in diverse contexts. Critical analysis of the evidence for support strategies and reflection on the practice implications related to principles, human rights, cultural diversity, interprofessional and collaborative models of practice.

The advanced study of neuro-anatomical and physiological principles of feeding and swallowing skills from a developmental perspective. Investigate specific developmental disorders and conditions that contribute or cause paediatric dysphagia and/or feeding disorders.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Speech and Language Therapy

Work with people experiencing communication impairments and difficulties with eating, drinking and swallowing, from children who stammer to adults recovering from brain injuries.

Speech and language therapists (SLT) are privileged to work with people throughout their entire lifespan, from neonatal to end of life care.

As part of this course you’ll:

  • Gain a professional qualification as an SLT in three years
  • Learn to provide assessment and intervention for communication impairments and difficulties with eating, drinking and swallowing
  • Study a variety of subjects such as psychology, linguistics and speech pathology
  • Attend guest lectures from specialist clinicians and medics to ensure your learning is current and to expand your networks
  • Experience ongoing and block placements through a mixed placement model

The funding system for students on nursing, midwifery and AHP pre-registration courses in England changed from 1 August 2017 and moved from NHS grants to student loans. University Funding PDF  for more information.

Occupational Health clearance and compliance with standard NHS immunisations requirements is mandatory and essential for placement attendance.

Your placements

We adopt a mixed placement model, which means that you'll have the opportunity to experience ongoing and block placements. An ongoing placement means that you are on placement one day per week, whilst in university the remaining days. On a block placement, you’ll spend all week on placement, with no lectures during these periods. You’ll be required to travel to placements independently and these will be located throughout the Yorkshire and Humberside region.

You'll undertake ongoing and block work placements in all three years of your course. You'll also be able to make the most of course-related opportunities such as campaigning and raising awareness of people with communication difficulties, getting involved in the speech and language therapy society and volunteering in the UK and abroad. You’ll gain a wide range of clinical experiences with both children and adults.

Selection Criteria

We will evaluate your personal statement in relation to your research into the SLT profession, experience relating to relevant client groups and evidence of interpersonal and teamwork skills. You may wish to include information such as how you have researched the SLT profession and a career in SLT, examples of how you have worked with relevant client groups or in related settings, how you have gained insight into the course (e.g. open days), your personal qualities which you feel are related to SLT, including what motivates you to choose SLT as a career.

Satisfactory enhanced criminal history checks will be required by all applicants prior to acceptance on the course, (processed through the University only). The University is unable to accept DBS checks obtained through another institution (this includes those registered with the DBS Update Service); the checks undertaken by the University are appropriate to the course of study and relevant regulated activity placements. Independent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Placement locations and experiences will vary throughout the course but any additional travel or dual accommodation costs will be reimbursed by the NHS Business Services Authority (applies to UK students only). You may also be eligible for a Child Dependants Allowance and Exceptional Support Funding dependant on your circumstances. Speech and Language Therapy placements are predominantly in a variety of NHS Trusts and schools across Yorkshire and the Humber, but alternative placements in private independent and voluntary organisations may be selected. If you are an international student, you must cover your own costs relating to placements (variable depending on location of placement)

  • Educational visits; the details and location will vary but the costs you will need to pay could include travel, accommodation and subsistence

Other study-related expenses to consider:  materials that you will need to complete your course such as books (whilst the library provides access to readings recommended for your modules, you may wish to purchase your own copies of some books); you can also make suggestions for books to be added to Library stock; placement costs (these may include travel expenses and living costs); student visas (international students only); printing, photocopying and stationery (you may need to pay for multiple copies of your dissertation or final project to be printed and bound); events associated with your course such as field trips; study abroad opportunities (travel costs and accommodation, visas and immunisations). Other costs could include academic conferences (travel costs) and professional-body membership (where applicable). The costs you will need to cover for graduation will include gown hire and guest tickets, and optional extras such as professional photography.

As well as your mobile phone, you will also need access to a desktop computer and/or laptop to complete assignments and access university online services such as MyBeckett, your virtual learning environment. You can book and borrow AV equipment through the media equipment service accessed online via the student hub and located in the library at each campus. Equipment includes: 360 Cameras, iPads, GoPros, MacBooks, portable data projectors, portable projection screens, flipchart stands, remote presenters, digital cameras and camcorders, SLR cameras, speakers, microphones, headphones, headsets, tripods, digital audio recorders and PC/laptops (a laptop loans service is provided on campus in the library on both campuses). Student laptops are also available from the laptop lockers located in the libraries.

Career Prospects

The strong clinical focus of the course will help you make the transition to clinical practice. Indeed, the majority of our students find work in either speech and language therapy or a related field within 12 months of graduating. As a newly qualified speech and language therapist, you might be employed by the NHS and may work in a range of settings including hospitals, community clinics or education. Some therapists also work in the criminal justice system and others are in private practice.
