The Department of Education embraces technology as the kto12 implementation arrived. The agency also devised a computerization program for all public schools as part of the program. The purpose of this needs assessment is to determine the level of competency of primary and secondary school teachers in Lingayen, Pangasinan as a basis for an extension program. Advanced training in installing computer systems and networks, diagnose and troubleshoot computer system, configure computer systems and networks and maintain computer systems and networks which are the four core competency of TESDA’s NC2 Computer Systems Servicing Course will be an extension program if there is a need for training. Based on the result of the study, the majority of the ICT coordinator of the primary and secondary schools are competent and expert in the field of Computer Systems Servicing, because high school ICT coordinators are the holder of National Certificate Level 2 in the field of computer systems servicing. It is concluded that teachers holding computer laboratory can sustain the need if the problems arise. It is recommended that no training needed for the teachers.

  • Emerson Punzalan

INTRODUCTION

Technology and Livelihood Education under the K-12 curriculum offers the subject Computer System Servicing for grades 9 and 10. The researcher as one of the teachers teaching this subject encounter different attitudes of students towards the subject. The factors teacher, competency, environment, and family were tested to know the highest factor affecting the students.

A descriptive method of research using a questionnaire was utilized to gather empirical data for the study on problems met by CSS students in learning the lesson. The questionnaire was used to make the survey on the most factor that affects the learning of students in the subject. The respondents of the study were forty-five (45) CSS students in GFLMNHS.

Most of the respondents were in the average age bracket, female, and single when it comes to their profile. They also agreed on the problems stated on the questionnaire giving all the factors the verbal interpretation of Agree in their composite mean. The teacher's factor which had the highest composite mean entails that the students were greatly affected by the way on how the teacher acts as the facilitator n class.

DISCUSSIONS

The result demonstrated the need for an action plan to be utilized in the field of Education where all the factors will be dealt with. Teachers, who had been the greatest factor, must be very careful in everything he does in the classroom to make the learning possible and easy.

Qualitative Research Topics

Qualitative research is a methodological approach that involves gathering and analyzing non-numerical data to understand and interpret social phenomena. Unlike quantitative research , which emphasizes the collection of numerical data through surveys and experiments, qualitative research is concerned with exploring the subjective experiences, perspectives, and meanings of individuals and groups. As such, qualitative research topics can be diverse and encompass a wide range of social issues and phenomena. From exploring the impact of culture on identity formation to examining the experiences of marginalized communities, qualitative research offers a rich and nuanced perspective on complex social issues. In this post, we will explore some of the most compelling qualitative research topics and provide some tips on how to conduct effective qualitative research.

Academic performance is complex student behaviour and underlies several abilities (e.g. memory, interest, temperaments, and etc. to name a few (Deary, Whiteman, Starr, Whally, and Fox, 2004). Explanatory sequential design was utilized to investigate the existing relationship of motivation, study habits, and teachers’ performance perceived by the grade-nine students of the Sisters of Mary School- Boystown, Inc. Tungkop, Minglanilla, Cebu. School Year 2016-2017. It used survey questionnaire in gathering the necessary data in the quantitative phase and semi-structured interview in the qualitative phase, to validate the quantitative findings, as research instrument. Moreover, 202 students are chosen to be the respondents in the first phase and 16 students are taken from the 202 respondents for the second phase. The findings of the study showed that motivation and study habits have significant relationship with the academic performance of the grade-nine students in the Sisters of Mary School-Boystown, Inc. with the correlation coefficient of 0.26556 and 0.27887, respectively and 1.39 as the critical value. The researchers also find out that teachers’ performance perceived by students has no significant relationship with the academic performance of the student-respondents with the correlation coefficient of 0.121976 with 1.39 as the critical value. Based on the result, the researchers recommended that the students should study well and be motivated to have a good academic performance in Mathematics.

Students’ preference to teachers’ teaching strategies is a study to learn the importance of teaching strategies towards the needs of the students. One of the areas that have been studied in the past to evaluate a number of these factors in relationship to teaching effectiveness is teaching styles. A teaching style, as defined in this study, includes a teacher's way of communicating with the students, the choices s/he makes to create a desired classroom climate, the level of directiveness taken, and the choices s/he makes in tools, methods, strategies, and evaluation techniques. In other words, teaching style refers to the beliefs of a teacher that translate into their classroom behavior and choices. Different teachers also have different teaching strategies, and that is the main reason why several students won’t participate during class’ recitation and activities. The study is important to help teachers to learn what students need to do in order to create relationship or connection towards each others’ learning benefits. This study will also show the benefit of teachers’ improvements needed to create the connection between students and teachers.

Stephen Bernz , Ma. Sarah Magallanes

The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between the effective teaching methods in Technical-Vocational Subjects to the academic performance of the students. The study investigated students’ perceptions of the third year and fourth year BBTE students on the relationship of effective teaching methods to their academic performance. This paper is relevant as the result of the study will help the teachers to identify the teaching methods that could be effective in teaching Technical-Vocational Subjects and will show a good result of their academic performance. Yet, findings revealed that there is no significant relationship between the teaching methods used in teaching Technical-Vocational Subjects to the academic performance of the students. It simply implies that whatever teaching method used by the teacher, it does not affect students’ academic performance. It is still depends on how the students acquire his/ her own knowledge skills and abilities.
