For students who are permanent residents of Bihar, here’s a list of scholarships offered by the state government. Apply for these scholarships before May 31, 2023.
Among all the states of India, Bihar has the lowest literacy rate. A large percentage of the population in the state are economically weak and people find it difficult to fund even the basic education of their children. In order to bring such underprivileged children and students into mainstream academics and provide them with proper education, the Government of Bihar offers many scholarships right from junior classes to postgraduate and Phd.
Careers360 has listed below those scholarships which have a deadline of May 31. Apart from the below listed scholarships, every year, the Government of Bihar offers many other scholarships like Pre-matric scholarship for OBC students, Post-matric scholarship for OBC students, BC & EBC post-matric scholarship, SC/ST post-matric scholarship, Post-matric scholarship for students with disabilities and many others.
Read below to explore these Bihar state government aided scholarships and apply according to your eligibility.
Bihar Board 10th 1st Division Scholarship or Mukhyamantri Balak/Balika Protsahan Yojna
This scholarship is provided by the government of Bihar to those students, irrespective of their category, who have passed their matriculation or Class 10 with first or second division from Bihar School Examination Board, commonly known as Bihar Board.
Eligibility:
Must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
Must have passed Class 10 with either first or second division from Bihar Board.
Must be unmarried.
The annual family income of the student should not be more than 1.5 lakhs.
The bank account should be active and must be in the name of the student applying for the scholarship.
Only two students from a family can apply for this scholarship.
What It Covers:
A one-time sum of Rs 10,000 to all those students who have passed Class 10 with first division from Bihar Board.
A one-time sum of Rs 8,000 to those girl students who passed Class 10 with second division from Bihar Board.

Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojna - Mukhyamantri Balika Inter (12th) Protsahan Yojna
The government of Bihar provides this scholarship to encourage girl child education in the state. Under this scholarship, all the unmarried girl students who have passed Class 12 from Bihar Board will get a one-time financial aid of Rs 25,000.
Must be a girl student.
Must have passed Class 12 or Intermediate from Bihar Board.
Only two girl students from a family can apply for this scholarship.
A one-time sum of Rs 25,000.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojna – Mukhyamantri Balika Snatak Protsahan Yojna
To encourage girl students to continue their higher studies and become self-dependent, the government of Bihar provides this scholarship to all those girl students, irrespective of their category, who have passed their graduation form a government recognised college or university. This scholarship has been started under the initiative ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.
Must have passed her graduation from a government recognised college/university.
Only two girl students from a family are eligible for this scholarship.
A one-time sum of Rs 50,000.
Mukhyamantri Medhavriti Yojna
The government of Bihar provides this scholarship to girl students of SC/ST category who have passed Class 12. The aim of this scholarship is to encourage girl child education in SC/ST category and motivate girl students belonging to this category to pursue higher studies and fulfil their dreams.
Should be a girl student.
Must belong to SC/ST category.
Must have passed Class 12 or intermediate with first or second division from a government recognised school or college.
A one-time financial aid of Rs 15,000 to all those SC/ST girl students who have passed Class 12 with first division.
A one-time financial aid of Rs 10,000 to all those SC/ST girl students who have passed Class 12 with second division.

Visit the official website at scholarships.gov.in.
Find and click the 'New Registration' option on the home page.
It will take you to a new page with some guidelines. Please read them thoroughly and check the disclaimer box.
Then click the proceed option, which will take you to the registration form.
Select Bihar from the list of domiciles, then select the category to apply for the Bihar scholarship 2024.
Enter the student's name and choose 'Scholarship scheme' from the scheme types list.
Fill in the blanks with your contact details, bank details, ID details, and the captcha code.
Submit it by clicking the register button after accepting all the disclaimers.
Take note of the application number generated and show the screen.
When you click the continue button, you will be redirected to the login page.
Login to Bihar Scholarship 2024
Students must log in using their credentials after registration.
In the login window, they must enter their application number.

- The applicant must be from Other Backward Classes (OBC) category
- The applicant should study at the pre-matriculation level i.e., class 1 to class 10
- The applicant should be a resident of Bihar
- The annual family income must be under the limit of INR 1.5 lakh

Application Process
- Visit the National Scholarship Portal’s official website
- Click the New Registration link as appears on the main page of the portal
- An application form with empty spaces for details like your mobile number, Aadhaar number, name, email id, qualification, etc., will open
- Enter all the details and upload all required documents as required
- Click on register
- Now you successfully registered for the Bihar pre-matric scholarship scheme under the OBC category.
The only difference between this scheme and the OBC Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme is that OBC Post-Graduation Scholarship Scheme exclusively provides scholarships to candidates pursuing post-graduation courses. The above scheme, however, only provides scholarships to students studying pre-matric classes.

The application procedure for this scheme is similar to the application procedure explained in the OBC Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme. Students are advised to check once the application procedure is stated in the above scheme. The only difference is that in the above scheme, the students will select classes 1-10 in the qualification area, where the candidates must select the post-graduation (PG) in this scheme.
Bihar Professional Scholarship
The Bihar Professional Scholarship is exclusively provided to candidates studying specialised courses such as MBA, engineering, hotel management and related courses.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be from the Bihar state
- The applicant must come from the BC, or OBC category
- The candidate must pursue the professional or technical courses
- Education certificate
- Admission proof
The application procedure for the Bihar Professional Scholarship scheme is very simple; you click register, fill in the details, upload documents, and submit the form.
Chief Minister BC Meritocracy Scheme
The amount of ₹ 10000 will be given to the outstanding students for their top performance in academics under this scheme. The reward is given to only the students who belong to Backward Classes (BC) category. This amount is given to the person who attains 1 st division in class 10. The motto behind this scholarship is to encourage students, especially students from rural areas, to continue further education.
Under this scholarship scheme, the amount of ₹ 10000 is awarded to the meritorious students who belong to the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) category. The only difference between this scheme and the above one is while EBC category students are awarded under this scheme, BC category students are awarded under the above scheme – Chief Minister BC Meritocracy Scheme.
Training Centres for the Budding Talents
The students from BC and EBC categories can avail the benefits of this amazing initiative taken by the Government of Bihar. Meritorious students who face financial problems with their tuition/classes fee will no longer have to worry as the government has set up pre-exam training centres to train the students free of cost. These pre-exam training classes will impart advanced skills and knowledge into the brains of budding talents and will teach candidates at the level of competitive exam training. Reimbursement of Exam Fee

- Now fill in the Home District, Block Name, enter User id or mobile number, and enter text to search
- Click Search and you will see Student’s Rejected Account List
View Rejected/Defective Institution List
- On the homepage of the PMS portal, select the View Rejected/Defective Institution list link in the drop-down list of the Reports section
- Now fill in the state, district, institution type, status, and filter type, and enter the search text
- Click Search and the Rejected/Defective Institution list will appear on your screen
Summary Report
- On the homepage of the PMS portal, click the Summary Report link in the Reports section
- You will be directed to a new webpage with important statistics relating to the post-matric scholarship scheme and institution details
- The total students and total applications with clear break up will appear on your screen
Registered User Login (SC/ST Student)
- Go to the official PMS portal
- On the homepage of the portal, select the Student Section and click on the Registered User Login (SC/ST Student) link
- Now click on the Login for Already Registered Students Link
- A Student Login will open
- Enter your User ID, Password and captcha code
- Now click the Login button and you will be successfully logged in to your account
- If you are a new scholarship candidate, you can newly register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
- Students can also recover forgotten User IDs and forgotten Password by clicking on the given links on the same student login page
Registered User Login (BC/EBC Student)
The login process for both SC/ST scholarship students and BC/EBC scholarship students is pretty much similar. However, the students from SC/ST categories are advised to log in through SC/ST link and the students from BC/EBC categories can log in through the BC/EBC link given on the PMS portal homepage.
Submit your Grievance (Student/Institution)
- Students can submit their grievances/suggestions by visiting the official PMS portal
- On the homepage of the PMS portal, click the Submit your Grievance link which will appear in the drop-down list of the Student Section
- Now a grievance form will open
- Fill in all the mandatory fields like type, name, mobile number, email id, type of grievance, etc.
- After filling in all the mandatory fields, click submit and your grievance will be sent to the concerned authorities
- The submission of the grievance process for both student and institution is similar with a little change in credentials
- However, care is to be taken in selecting the type, i.e., if you are a student, then select student type grievance form and if you are an institution, then select institution type grievance form.
Know your Grievance Status (Student/Institution)
- The Know your Grievance Status process is also same for both student and institution
- Click the Know your Grievance Status link in either of the student/institution section drop-down lists as per the case
- Now select whether to proceed with the reference number or mobile number as per your convenience
- Enter the selected credential and click search
- Now the status of your grievance(s) will appear on your screen

The eligibility criteria of post-matric scholarship are as follows:-
- If the candidate has cleared any course with the scholarship then he/she is not entitled to any other equivalent course.
- Only two male applicants of a family are eligible for the scholarship.

Scholarships are offered to deserving and needy students to encourage them to take up Higher education. This incentive falls in line with the motto of Higher Education of the State: Access, Equity and Quality. Generation makes Nation. Therefore the Govt. of India and Govt. of Haryana are always putting their efforts to attract the students towards Higher Education.
"Har-Chhatravratti" is a centralized portal developed by the Department of Higher Education that provides one stop solution for end-to-end scholarship process right from submission of application, verification and disbursal to end beneficiary. Keeping in view the State Government’s commitment to make beneficiary-oriented schemes easily accessible, seamless and transparent, a centralized State Scholarship Portal has been developed by bringing in 15 scholarship schemes of 7 major department of the government under a single platform.
"Har-Chhatravratti" Portal emerges as one of the most prominent scholarship portal that offers three tier verification of the application. Student Application form got verified from three levels i.e. Institute, University/Nodal Body and Head Office thus ensuring the complete authentication of the applicant. This portal is also integrated with state flagship programme i.e. Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) scheme of Haryana Government. In order to avail the benefits of scholarship schemes of the state government, it is mandatory for each applicant to have Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP). Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) is mandatory for availing any Scholarship benefit. So Student are advised to make ensure their all particulars such as Name, DOB, Aadhar No. etc are fully updated in PPP before applying for any scholarship scheme. किसी भी छात्रवृत्ति लाभ का लाभ उठाने के लिए परिवार पहचान पत्र (पीपीपी) अनिवार्य है। इसलिए छात्रों को सलाह दी जाती है कि किसी भी छात्रवृत्ति योजना के लिए आवेदन करने से पहले अपने सभी विवरण जैसे नाम, जन्मतिथि, आधार संख्या आदि को पीपीपी में पूरी तरह से अपडेट कर लें।

This scholarship is offered by the Backward and Extremely Backward Class Welfare Department, Government of Bihar for the students who are domicile of Bihar state. it is applicable for the students belonging to the BC/EBC category. The selected students are provided various financial rewards under this scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a domicile of Bihar state.
- The applicant must to BC/EBC category.
- The applicant must be pursuing a post-matric level of education.
- The applicant must be pursuing a post-matric recognized course.
- Only the two male wards of a family are allowed to apply for this scholarship.

The Combined counselling Board Scholarship is awarded to the students of Bihar. Under this scholarship, those students who cannot afford their studies can get financial assistance. The combined counselling board has taken up the responsibility to provide this scholarship. The Application procedure for this Scholarship will start in October. this combined counselling board scholarship is available only those students who are following their diploma level, degree level or postgraduate level course and also they are required to pass the qualifying examination with minimum 40% to 50% marks.

BTSE Bihar Talent Search Examination
Organised jointly by the Lok Kalyan Parishad and Mployd Edutech Pvt. Ltd., this scholarship is available for students who qualify for the Bihar Talent Search Examination and are studying in Class 7 to 10. The selected students will receive financial assistance of up to ₹20,000 as well as gift items such as laptops, notepads, tabs, smartwatches and other gift hampers as part of the scholarship.
Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
This scholarship is for disabled students who are studying in Class 11 to postgraduation. The applicants for this scholarship must have at least 40% disability, be certified by the competent medical authority of the state government or UTs and have an annual family income must of less than ₹2,50,000. The amount of scholarship that the students will receive includes maintenance allowance, book allowance, disability allowance, etc.
Ministry of Labour and Employment Pre-Matric Scholarship
This scholarship is run by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. This scheme is for the students who are studying from Class 1 to 10 and are wards of Beedi/Cine/IOMC/LSDM workers. The selected students will receive a scholarship amount of up to ₹1,840 under this scheme.
Ministry of Labour and Employment Post-Matric Scholarship
Just like the pre-matric scholarship, the Ministry of Labour and Employment also offers a post-matric scholarship for students studying in Class 11 to postgraduation level (including diploma courses) who are the wards of Beedi/Cine/IOMC/LSDM workers. The scholars selected under this scheme will receive a scholarship of up to ₹15,000.

- Reimbursement for the mandatory non-refundable fees.
- INR 1,600 per year for study tour expenses.
- Up to INR 1,600 for thesis typing and printing costs (for research scholars).
