The primary purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of green human resource management practices on environmental sustainability performed in various organizations in Bangladesh. Organizations are giving more emphasis on financial profits, but they should be concerned for the impacts at their attaining environmental sustainability. To handle this crack, the present study allows a taxonomical literature review. The study analyzed different factors affecting environmental sustainability in the organizations. The total 200 responses have been drawn from 20 industries in Bangladesh. Factor analysis is presented to get the significant components which increment environmental sustainability. The determination of this inquiry divided into seven factors like green culture, green job design and analysis, green recruitment and selection, green training and development, green performance appraisal, green reward and compensation, green promotion and motivation that have a momentous influence on environmental sustainability. Similarly, it was also revealed that green performance appraisal should be developed for environmental sustainability. The study advised the employers, employees, policy makers, BGMEA, BKMEA, entrepreneurs and investors to focus on key variables of green HRM affecting the environmental sustainability of the organizations of Bangladesh.

In recent studies, researchers agree that there is a substantial gap between research and practice in the field of human resource management (HRM). The literature exploring the causes and consequences of this gap does not represent a finely structured discourse; it has focused on analysing the gap from the practitioner side, and it is based on opinions and theoretical discussions rather than on empirical evidence. In this paper, we try to shed some light on this so-called “valley of death”. We attempt to identify the causes underlying the disconnect between academics and professionals in our field by drawing on empirical qualitative evidence obtained from interviews with 15 expert academics in the field of HRM. Thus, the approach presented in our work differs from that of the prior literature in that it is focused not on the opinions of individual authors but on the personal experiences of a larger expert sample composed of independent, experienced scholars in the area. Based on in-depth semi-structured interviews, we analyse the factors explaining why academics are not always willing to focus their research on professional needs or orientate their research outputs to the practitioner community.

Main Concepts Definition Human Resource Management: The human resource management (HRM) is a set of practices of management aimed at mobilizing and developing human resources for greater performance of the organization (Jaeger, 1990). Organizational performance: According to Richard et al. (2009) organizational performance encompasses three specific areas of firm outcomes: Financial performance (profits, return on assets, return on investment, etc.); Product market performance (sales, market share, etc.); and Shareholder return (total shareholder return, economic value added, etc).The term Organizational effectiveness is broader (Richard, 2009). Developed Countries: Developed countries have a high income per capita, i.e., a higher average per capita income above $ 10,000 a year, a powerful and technologically advanced industry, a high standard of living, reflected in the development of infrastructure and in the quantity and quality of health services, educational, cultural, etc. Moreover, a good part of the population has a high level of consumption (Coyle, 2000). Developing Countries: The underdeveloped countries have low per capita income, which normally does not reach $ 2,000 per year, a small or emerging industrial development, but often depends on foreign investment and is based on labour and the high potato energy, natural resources primarily for export, a strong dependence on foreign technology, trade and credit, a reduced standard of living, with poor services and inaccessible to a large proportion of the population, poor infrastructure, a high rate illiteracy, a very high population growth, and low consumption (Gabris, Mitchell, 2005). In addition, political instability, corruption and social inequality are commonplace in these States (Mullins, 2010). Original research, increasing productivity of gen z employees: the role of flexible work arrangements and participative style, about the author(s).

Orientation:  Employee productivity is affected by various social and psychological variables. Flexible work arrangements (FWAs) and participative styles are expected to influence employee productivity.

Research purpose:  This study examined the effect of FWA and participative styles on employee productivity, specifically of Generation Z (Gen Z) employees. It also examines the mediating role of emotional engagement on the effect of FWA and participative styles on employee productivity.

Motivation for the study:  Gen Z workers have specific work-behavioural characteristics, including freedom and flexibility. This study provides empirical evidence of factors that increased the productivity of Gen Z employees by examining the influence of FWA and participative style.

Research approach/design and method:  This study was designed as explanatory. Data were collected using a survey involving 259 employees by purposive sampling technique. The data were analysed by the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the IBM AMOS 26 program.

Main findings:  Flexible work arrangement, participative style and emotional engagement affect employee productivity in direct and indirect relationships. However, there is no significant effect of FWAs on emotional engagement.

Practical/managerial implications:  Organisations need to develop FWA systems and more employee participation at work. It is expected to strengthen emotional engagement in their organisation and increase their productivity indirectly.

Contribution/value-add:  The study took Gen Z as the object of this research to support the assumption that this generation prefers a flexible way of working but still supports their productivity achievements.

Chief Medical Research Officer

Job summary.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Chief Medical Research Officer (CMRO), Division of Cardiovascular Sciences (DCVS). The CMRO offers an exciting opportunity to provide high level leadership, strategic planning, and detailed oversight and management for the entire extramural DCVS clinical portfolio in research on the causes, prevention, and treatment cardiovascular disease. DCVS assumes a major responsibility in supporting research to advance understanding of and interventions for promoting heart and vascular health across the lifespan. It also supports research aimed at preventing and treating pediatric and adult cardiovascular diseases, including heart attack, heart failure, arrhythmia, and congenital heart disease.

The clinical trials research program in cardiovascular diseases has grown substantially. This mission-critical research area requires a special level of knowledge and active involvement of an experienced clinician with field knowledge of clinical research that involves patients receiving care and participating in research in outpatient, hospital, and critical care environments. This position requires exceptionally high levels of experience and skill regarding risk management and mitigations, as well as experience in the clinical care of those with cardiovascular disease.

The CMRO will be responsible for providing global oversight over clinical trials research management in the Division and contribute to the development of NHLBI-wide clinical research policies and processes with the NHLBI Office of Clinical Research and will have institute-wide leadership responsibility as a member of the NHLBI's clinical trials optimization and coordination team. 

Specific skills, education and experiences candidates must possess include:

  • M.D. with background in cardiovascular disease (cardiology, or primary care or related field with clinical experience in caring for individuals with cardiovascular disease)
  • Actively engaging in clinical research including the conduct of clinical trials and managing the regulatory, safety and data issues involved in those clinical trials 
  • Experience in applying quantitative and qualitative approaches or processes to programs to understand program success and threats (e.g. experience developing processes to program or systems of care to improve efficiency and ensure success/safety or with quality improvement at a health care institution)
  • Significant experience with regulatory requirements in research including experience in research ethics and compliance requirements involved in human subjects research (e.g., Institutional Review Boards, Data and Safety Monitoring Boards, and FDA regulations and polices including the Investigational New Drug application process)
  • High levels of experience and skill regarding clinical trials risk management and mitigations, as well as experience in the clinical care of those with cardiovascular diseases 
  • Experience in working with practitioners, patients and professional societies/advocacy groups in cardiovascular science communities
  • Managing/supervising faculty or staff clinically and in research programs
  • Speaking at or chairing major national or international meetings, committee, initiatives or symposia

If you are a current Federal title 5 employee, you must have one year of equivalent experience at the GS-14 level or above.  The successful candidate for this position will be appointed at a salary commensurate with experience and accomplishments , and full Federal benefits, including leave, health and life insurance, retirement and savings plan (401K equivalent) will be provided.

Required Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, or U.S. National. Foreign nationals or legal permanent residents are not eligible for consideration. Candidates must indicate their U.S. citizenship status on their CV or within their email application submission.

In order to qualify for this position, candidates must possess either a doctoral-level degree in biomedicine or a biological related field, or a master's level or higher degree in:

  • engineering
  • bioinformatics
  • or an emerging or related scientific field.

In addition, candidates must have at least one year of experience related to the position, including achievements in one or more of the following areas to demonstrate the individual has received recognition as an expert in the field:

  • Has significant experience dealing with complex, precedent-setting evaluation issues, including those arising during product development that involved significant scientific controversy, had far reaching implications for clinical research or resulted in a widespread economic effect in the health-care delivery system
  • Has taken an active role in the development of significant scientific or regulatory guidelines for clinical research evaluation
  • Received invitations to speak at or to chair major national or international meetings and symposia or
  • Meets other criteria demonstrating sufficient rigor or accomplishment in a relevant or closely related field that is necessary to the accomplishment of NIH's mission.

The need to determine the effectiveness of using technology in the students' performances is very timely to be able to give needed assistance and training. There is a need to equip learners with the necessary skills and experiences that will enable them to become contributing members of the global community. Technology in education helps students attain quality education, which in return helps them pursue their life goals and future careers. Technology in education can be a tool for every student's success. 

The researchers used a correlational quantitative research method in investigating and collecting information about the effectiveness of using technology on students' academic performance. To get the intended data for specific questions stated in the statement of the problem, the researcher used purposive sampling. Lastly, the researcher questionnaire was utilised to determine the general effectiveness of using technology towards the academic performances of the students. 

Based on the analysis, it was discovered that most devices used in online classes are cell phones. The researchers also discovered the problems encountered by the respondents, such as experiencing poor internet connection. This is found to be the leading problem or challenge for these students. Concerns in LMS in times of answering activities, examinations, and study cause interruptions. 

The assessment shows a significant relationship between using technology and academic performance. On the other hand, the researchers provided the following recommendations: 1. the researcher recommends students continue to use technology in their studies because it allows them to improve their cognitive skills, which in turn helps them improve their academic performance; 2. students must keep using cell phones in their online learning; 3. smartphone is carried on the person so it is accessible anywhere and at any time. This makes accessing learning content easy, regardless of the location or the time of day. It allows students to access the tools that expand their learning without interruption. Learning is available, literally at their fingertips.
