భర్త ప్రభు డివోర్స్ అడిగాడని, తాను కూడా తమ ఇల్లీగల రిలేషన్‌షిప్ గురించి చెప్పినట్లు రిషితో నిధి చెబుతుంది. దాంతో నిధిపై రిషి ఫైర్ అవుతాడు. రోడ్డు మీద వదిలేసి వెళ్లిపోతాడు. కట్ చేస్తే రిషి, ప్రభు ఇద్దరూ కలిసి తమ ఎఫైర్స్ గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటూ డ్రింక్ చేస్తుంటారు. అక్కడికి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చి కాసేపు ఫన్ చేద్దామని మాట్లాడిన నిధి వాళ్లిద్దరిని గన్‌తో షూట్ చేస్తుంది.

లవ్ (LOVE) అనే పదం ఇంగ్లీష్ లెటర్స్‌ను రివర్స్ చేసి చదివితే ఎవోల్ (EVOL) అని వస్తుంది. "ఏ లవ్ స్టోరీ ఇన్ రివర్స్" అనేది ఉపశీర్షిక. అందుకే టైటిల్‌ను అలా పెట్టారు. టైటిల్‌గా సినిమా కూడా రివర్స్‌గా సాగుతుంది. నిజానికి సినిమా మొత్తం కథ అరగంటలో అయిపోతుంది. కానీ, ఎమోషనల్ సీన్స్, రిపీటెడ్ బోల్డ్ సీన్స్, ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్, రిలేషన్స్ ఏర్పడటం వంటి సీన్లతో మరో అరగంటసేపు సాగదీశారు.

మొదటి అరగంట

భార్య నిధికి తన ఎఫైర్ గురించి ప్రభు చెప్పడంతో సినిమా ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది. భర్త డివోర్స్ ఇస్తాననడం గురించి ప్రభు ఫ్రెండ్ రిషితో తమ ఇల్లీగల్ రిలేషన్‌షిప్ గురించి చెప్పినట్లు చెప్పడంతో మరింత ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌గా స్టోరీ నడుస్తుంది. మొదటి అరగంట ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌ సాగిన తర్వాత చాలా వరకు బోర్ కొడుతుంది. అడల్ట్ కంటెంట్, గతం గురించి చెప్పే విషయాలు కొంతవరకు బాగానే ఉన్నా మరి సాగదీతలా అనిపిస్తుంది.

ఎఫైర్స్ తప్పా

ఒకేసారి ఒక్కరితో కాకుండా అంతకంటే ఎక్కువమందిని ప్రేమించడం తప్పా అని ప్రియుడితో నిధి అడుగుతుంది. ఇదే కాన్సెప్ట్‌తో సినిమా మొత్తం నడుస్తుంది. అయితే, ఈ మూవీ వుమెన్ ఎంపవర్‌మెంట్ కోసం తీసినట్లు, భార్యలను భర్తలు బాగా చూసుకోవాలి, వాళ్ల ఫ్రీడమ్ వాళ్లకు ఇవ్వాలి అనే ఇంటెన్షన్‌తో తెరకెక్కించినట్లు డైరెక్టర్ చెప్పారు. కానీ, మూవీ చూస్తే ఇదేనా వుమెన్ ఎంపర్‌మెంట్ అనిపిస్తుంది. సినిమాలో ఇల్లీగల్ ఎఫైర్స్ తప్పా ఇంకోటి కనిపించదు.

నాన్ లీనియర్ స్త్రీన్‌ప్లే

భార్యకు భర్త ఇచ్చిన ఫ్రీడమ్.. తను కూడా ఇంకో అమ్మాయితో ఎఫైర్ పెట్టుకోవడం కోసమే అన్నట్లుగా ఉంది కానీ, నిజంగా భార్యకు స్వాతంత్య్రం ఇచ్చినట్లుగా లేదు. సినిమాలో విపరీతమైన పచ్చి అడల్ట్ కంటెంట్‌తో నింపేశారు. అయితే అది చాలా రిపీటెడ్‌గా వస్తూనే ఉంటుంది. మూడేళ్ల క్రితం, రెండేళ్ల క్రితం, ప్రస్తుతం అంటూ నాన్ లీనియర్ స్త్రీన్‌ప్లేతో విసుగుతెప్పించారు. వాళ్లు ఎఫైర్ పెట్టుకోవడంలో కూడా కొత్తదనం ఏం చూపించలేదు.

ఊహించని క్లైమాక్స్ ట్విస్ట్

రొటీన్ స్టోరీకి ఇంటిమెట్ సీన్స్ యాడ్ చేసి తీశారు. ఇల్లీగల్ రిలేషన్‌షిప్‌లో సాటిస్‌ఫ్యాక్షన్, ఎంజాయ్‌మెంట్ గురించి వచ్చే కన్వర్జేషన్ ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్‌గానే ఉన్నా లవ్ అని చెప్పే ఎమోషన్ కన్విన్సింగ్‌గా లేదు. ఇక వీటన్నింటికి తోడు క్లైమాక్స్ ట్విస్ట్. ఈ ట్విస్ట్ కోసమా ఇదంతా చేసింది అనే డౌట్ వస్తుంది. అలాగే అది నిజమా.. ఏది నిజమా అనే మరో కన్‌ఫ్యూజన్ ఏర్పడుతుంది. అసలు ఏం చెప్పాలనుకున్నారో అర్థం కాలేదు.

అదిరిపోయిన కెమెరా వర్క్

అడల్ట్ సీన్స్‌ను ప్రధానంగా తీసుకుని దానికి క్రైమ్, సైకలాజీ, కాస్తా హారర్ ఎలిమెంట్స్‌ను టచ్ చేశారు. కానీ, కెమెరా వర్క్ మాత్రం చాలా బాగుంది. చాలా కొత్తగా సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ ఉంటుంది. చాలా వరకు కెమెరా చూపించిన యాంగిల్స్ కొత్త ఫీల్ ఇస్తాయి. మ్యూజిక్ కూడా చాలా బాగుంది. ఫ్రెష్ మూడ్‌లోకి తీసుకెళ్తుంది.

బాగున్న యాక్టింగ్, డబ్బింగ్

Plot Keeps You Engaged Despite the Convoluted Narration

Plot: A failed businessman, finally tastes success in real estate. This turns into an obsession and now he would go to any extent to do business and not fail. An anonymous person threatens him to stop his successful business.

Rahul (a failed businessman) and Deepu (a drug dealer) go into hiding in Yemmiganur. Deepu is being tracked by Sameer, the brother of the man she killed in Hyderabad. Rahul, while trying to sell his house to leave the country with Deepu, cracks the real estate business and becomes a success. When Sameer comes looking, they kill him and bury him in a land that Rahul is selling. When everything appears to start going in Rahul's way, a stranger threatens him to stop his business. When Rahul begins to probe who the stranger is, he finds out more about himself and his past and their common history.

Performances: Vikas Muppala pulls off the complex role that doesn't have place for typical hero elements. He is vulnerable and nervous at once. He smiles rarely but doesn't overdo the anxiety innate to his character. Gayathri Gupta makes the viewer feel her suffocation. She pines for freedom from fear and the actress portrays her character's restlessness with nuance.

Sajiv Pasala, who plays the other Rahul, is subtle. The dialogue delivery and tonality maintained by all the artists suit the subdued, psychological mood of the film.

Technical Departments: Writer-director Bhanu Bhava Tharaka draws the best from cinematographer Raman, whose camera angles make us feel the psyche of the characters. Still camera movements and top-angle shots, for example, make sense.

This is an Editing-based thriller where Editor Vinay adheres to his director's vision. The shifting timelines don't confuse you if you keep track of the scenes without getting distracted. Art Director Shiva Kumar Macha ensures that the film attains a multiplex quality.

Composer Karthik Rodriguez does a good job of keeping the score measured. The brooding and frightening nature of the plot turns has been conveyed without run-of-the-mill notes. Nagarjuna Thallapalli and Sai Maneendhar Reddy's sound design is deft.

Analysis: The film is a commentary on human greed. Rahul's obsession with material success has been portrayed with a touch of surrealism. The commercial logic of real estate makes him believe that the dead don't deserve the graveyard. The poetic justice towards the end couldn't have been more poetic.

The protagonist's evolving psyche makes us wonder if 'Plot' is a coming-of-age drama masquerading as a neo-noir crime thriller. Rahul's day job is shown in all its everydayness. Marketing in the realty sector is tricky and is fraught with habitual lies. The emotions of customers are preyed upon as a ritual here.

With metaphors and rare themes like stolen identity, 'Plot' keeps us engaged despite the convoluted narration. Some elements like ego clashes between the two Rahuls make sense only in the climax.

Man, consumed with greed and ambition, lives in a state of denial. 'Plot' lends a philosophical undercurrent by making memory and delusions its central themes.

Verdict: If you are fascinated by psychological thrillers with dramatic and rare themes, 'Plot' is the one for you.

Continuing the trend of reviewing low-budget films, today, we look at Plan B. The film is out now and let’s see how it is.

The film is set in a small village in AP where none of the couples have children. A doctor enters the scene and treats everyone in the way that they have kids. But one couple still gets unlucky. So, the doctor uses the IVF technique and makes sure that the couple has a baby. This is also the time when Viswanath(Srinivas Reddy) and his wife deliver a baby. But the twist in the tale arises when both the babies of Vishwanath and the other couple look the same. If this was not enough, the issues in the village create confusion. How all this is solved by a cop played by Murali Sharma is the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Srinivasa Reddy plays the main lead and he does quite well. He had three shades to portray and the noted actor has done a good job. Surya Vashishta is also neat in his key role. Murali Sharma as the cop does what is needed.

The suspense, crime, and thrill factors have been used well for the most part. The background score plays a major role as it elevates the film quite well. The concept and basic story idea are also neat.

Minus Points:

The film starts on a confusing note. The serial murders look good on screen but their outcome and the story behind them are revealed in a confusing manner. This is because of the dull screenplay by director Rajamahi.

The first half is a bit dull and is filled with repeated scenes. The logic goes for a big toss and the emotions look forced. As said earlier, the screenplay does not allow emotions to connect with the audience.

Technical Aspects:

The camerawork of the film is impressive. The editing part is average as the first half could have been trimmed even more. The film has serial murders and the way they are unleashed is not good to see. The production values are just about okay and so was the production design.

On the whole, Plan B has an okay premise but is completely spoilt with a confusing narration. Though a few thrills are good, the logic goes for a toss and makes this film a confusing and botched-up thriller.
