A screen appears on your iPhone named "Apple Watch Pairing," and hit on "Continue."

Afterward, select the option from "Set Up for Myself" or "Set Up for a Family Member." The next thing you have to do is place the Apple Watch animation below the iPhone's camera and in the frame on the screen. This will connect your Apple Watch with your iPhone. Then, access the Apple Watch app and install the PowerPoint app on your Watch.

Step 2. Connecting to PowerPoint

After getting the “PowerPoint” application on your Apple Watch, launch it. For this purpose, hold the Apple Watch and press the digital crown to enter the home screen. There, hit the PowerPoint icon to launch on the Apple Watch. Here, a screen appears displaying "Open a Presentation in PowerPoint for iPhone to Continue."

Now go to your PowerPoint application on your iPhone and press to open it. Next, select the PowerPoint presentation file that you intend to control. As you open that file, your Apple Watch will display an orange play button on the screen. To start controlling the presentation, tap the "Play" button on the Apple Watch.

Step 3. Using Apple Watch to Control PowerPoint

Two buttons will appear on the Watch screen that can be used to control the presentation. The larger forward button on the Watch is used to move on to the next slide. In comparison, the smaller back button on the Watch is to go to the previous slide. Simply use these navigations to move forward and backward to the slides.

In addition, a timer will be displayed at the top side of the Watch screen. It shows how much time we have spent on the presentation so far. Moreover, users can track the slide number at the bottom of the Watch screen. Lastly, press the “End Show” option after presenting, and the presentation control will end.

Now you can control your PowerPoint presentation with your Apple Watch

Microsoft has today updated the iOS version of Powerpoint to allow you to use your Apple Watch as a remote, to start presentations, navigate to the next slide and track your progress by viewing elapsed time, current slide number and total number of slides. The watch app currently only controls the iOS version of Powerpoint, not the OS X version.

Microsoft added support for iCloud and other third-party storage services back in February.

Powerpoint is free for iPhone and iPad, but you’ll need an Office 365 subscription to unlock the full functionality. You can download it from iTunes , and you may like to check out our guide to the best Apple Watch apps available to date.

How is this simpler than using a clicker? The watch basically requires two hands to do this…

This only seems useful if you….take the watch off and hold it in your hand and use it like a clicker

This makes no sense. You can do the same thing, single-handedly, using your iPhone, without killing your Watch’s limited battery life. Also, I think fiddling with your watch every time you want to change a slide is going to be awkward and distracting for the audience.

Agreed. I’m not sure this is such a good idea. And while I thought the idea of controlling Keynote was cool I’m rethinking that as well.

With the iPhone app you can circle or laser-dot information. Doubt you’ll have that same functionality from Apple Watch and if you did, as you said, fooling around with your watch every few seconds would be pretty distracting.

That doesn’t mean I won’t try it out once my Watch arrives but the workflow and use case doesn’t seem very useful.

How many people here use their iPhones or iPads to connect to projectors when doing presentations? I mean this as a genuine question, as at least 8 out of 10 times when I do PP presentations on client sites their projectors are limited to VGA.

I wonder if Apple Watch can control the KEYNOTE with a unique gesture so you can do it nonchalantly when you flip to the next slide. If Apple can invent a remote for it, why not gesture. I use my iPhone all the time when I use it for Preaching but I want something a little discreet.

You can now control PowerPoint presentations with your Apple Watch

In what may be one of the most useful Apple Watch apps yet, Microsoft has added the ability for Apple Watch owners to control presentations using their brand new wearable devices.

The update to the existing PowerPoint for iPhone app allows users to switch between slides or check, with the quickest of glances, just how much time has elapsed during a talk, or the total number of slides you have left to show.

I envy the first person in each office who gets to show this off in a board meeting!

There are a few limitations. Currently you can only control presentations stored on an iPhone using the Watch, although since Microsoft has added the ability for Windows Phone and Android users to access and control presentations stored on a PC, it’s not out of the question that this feature could also be added for Macs at some point in the future.

This isn’t the only bit of support Microsoft has offered Apple Watch owners, either. Earlier this week, Microsoft updated its OneDrive cloud storage service app to allow Apple Watch owners to view, search, and delete photos stored in OneNote albums using their wearable.

An update for PowerPoint for iOS brings support for Apple Watch.

Even if the Apple Watch doesn't prove to be a success for Apple (which is highly doubtful), the fashion bracelet at least has Microsoft's support.

Over the past few days we've seen a number of Microsoft apps updated to support Apple Watch activity. A couple days ago, OneDrive was updated with viewing and editing features for Cloud stored photos and yesterday an update to OneNote was made available that gives Apple Watch users the ability to read and dictate notes.

Now, Microsoft has submitted a PowerPoint update into the mix – and really, this might be the first logical feature available for the tiny screen. Using the Apple Watch with the updated PowerPoint app you can control presentations (advance slides) and view elapsed presentation time. Still, if you've ever attended a technical conference presentation and observed a speaker annoyingly keep looking down at his/her watch, you wonder if the speaker has somewhere better to be.

The Apple Watch relies heavily on a connection with an iPhone, so don't expect the wristlet to replace a PC, tablet, or mobile device anytime soon. But, that has really never stopped users from trying. CEOs and the like have attempted to inject iPads into the workplace, yet iPads still aren't really considered capable work devices, either. Sadly, it won't be long before IT staff will be required to support these things along with the growing list of other connected devices not designed for the workplace.

And, of course, you have to have an Apple Watch first. The only consumers with the devices so far are celebrities like Beyonce . Normal users won't have them for another month or so and only a small subset of quick-clicking consumers will have them no later than April 28 through a just announced special opportunity . But, once the package arrives and the Watch strapped on, Microsoft Office apps will be ready.

How to remote control presentations with Apple Watch

Using PowerPoint or Keynote to deliver presentation slideshows just got easier with the Apple Watch. Now presenters can remote control slides right from the watch, with no other external remote needed. Keynote for iOS version 2.5.3 adds support for the Keynote Remote Apple Watch app. Previously, Keynote users could use their iOS devices to remote control a slide presentation on a Mac. Apple Watch functionality operates in much the same manner.

Once installed, the Mac computer and paired iPhone running the Keynote app must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Besides indicating the current slide number, Apple Watch will display simple buttons to advance, reverse or exit the slideshow while in progress. Keynote for iOS costs $9.99 but comes free with new iOS devices.

Microsoft has also integrated Apple Watch support into version 1.8 of its PowerPoint iOS app . Presenters can open a PowerPoint show on the paired iPhone and remote control the app using Apple Watch. PowerPoint Remote for Apple Watch provides forward and back buttons, slide number, and elapsed time that clocks the duration of the presentation. Microsoft PowerPoint is free, however a subscription to Office 365 can be purchased in-app to unlock more features.

Apple Watch lets you control PowerPoint presentations from your wrist

It seems as though everyone is getting ready for the Apple Watch launch, including Microsoft . Today, Microsoft released a new update to the iOS edition of PowerPoint. The update incorporates input Apple Watch, and lets you use it as a remote control for presentations. You will be able to start a presentation and navigate through slides by swiping the smartwatch face on your wrist, making it a neat trick that is equally fit for a college group presentation or a dynamic sales pitch.

Users will also be able to track how far along they are in presentations by looking at a wrist-side display of time elapsed since the presentation's start. So far, Apple Watch will only be able to connect with and control PowerPoint presentations from the iOS app of PowerPoint. Those using desktop OS X versions of PowerPoint won't be able to sync with the smartwatch.

Although PowerPoint is free on iOS, to use all of the features, like Apple Watch synchronicity, you will need a subscription to Microsoft Office 365 .

Personally, I'm glad to see remote control functions emerge from Apple Watch. I welcome the idea of remote controlling presentations at the flick of a wrist, but I can also see how clumsy presenters could get tripped up on this function and stare at their smartwatch stumbling through an awkward presentation.

It will be interesting to see just how far the inter-connectivity between iPhone and Apple Watch is developed down the road. You can download the latest version of PowerPoint from the iTunes store here .

Microsoft was quick to support Apple's new Watch with a OneDrive update, and the company is showing no signs of slowing down its backing of the new wearable. The software maker has updated PowerPoint for iPhone today to allow future Apple Watch owners to control presentations from their wrists. It's one of the more useful apps for the Apple Watch right now, with the ability to navigate between slides and see elapsed time or total number of slides in a deck.

While it might be useful for iPhone owners to remote control slideshows from their wrist, Microsoft isn't extending this new functionality to the PC and Mac. You'll only be able to control presentations on an iPhone. Microsoft does have similar Office Remote functionality for Windows Phones and Android devices to control presentations on a PC, so it's possible the company may enable the same features on the Apple Watch in the future. With the vast majority of presentations still operating from laptops with projectors and VGA cables, extending this remote control to a PC would make this Apple Watch app even more useful.

Use Keynote with your Apple Watch

You can control your Keynote presentation with your Apple Watch.

Get started

Here's what you need:

Your paired Apple Watch and iPhone .

Keynote for iOS 2.5.3 or later on your iPhone. Open Keynote for iOS 2.5.3 or later on your iPhone at least once before you use Keynote on Apple Watch.

Keynote on your Apple Watch. Use the Apple Watch app on your iPhone to install the latest version of Keynote. To make sure the app installed, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch, tap Keynote, then tap Show App on Apple Watch.

Keynote works best with these settings on your Apple Watch:

On your Apple Watch, tap Settings on the Home screen.

Tap General, then tap Wake Screen.

Scroll down, then tap Keynote.

Tap Custom, then tap After Crown Press.

You can also check these settings from your iPhone:

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab.

Tap General, scroll down, then tap Wake Screen.

Control a Keynote presentation from your Apple Watch

Your Apple Watch can control a presentation on your iPhone if:

Your iPhone is connected to an external display using an adapter or AirPlay .

There are no presentation devices , such as your Mac or iPad, paired with Keynote for iOS on your iPhone.

You have a presentation open or already playing in Keynote for iOS on your iPhone.

You can also use your Apple Watch to control presentations on another device, such as your Mac, if:

Keynote for iOS is open to the Keynote Remote screen.

There is a presentation device , such as your Mac or iPad, paired with Keynote for iOS on your iPhone, your iPhone isn't connected to an external display using an adapter or AirPlay , and you don't have a presentation open or playing in Keynote for iOS on your iPhone.

Play a presentation or go to the next slide or build

When your Keynote presentation is ready, open the Keynote app on Apple Watch:

Control PowerPoint With Apple Watch

There has never been a shortage of Android apps for controlling PowerPoint using a smart device, however, iOS users can now control PowerPoint right from their wrists! Surprisingly, it’s not an Apple but Microsoft based app which enables you to perform this feat. Microsoft recently released an update for the PowerPoint edition for iOS, making it possible to use Apple Watch to remotely control presentations.

How to Control PowerPoint Using Your Apple Watch

To get started, simply get the PowerPoint app for iOS . The updated version already comes with Apple Watch support, which enables you to control your PowerPoint slides, as well as to track the elapsed time for better time management of your slides.

• The ability to Start your Slide Show on your iPhone
• Navigate to Previous or Next slide

I seemingly had to search forever to find an app just like this. Everything seems geared toward PowerPoint and Keynote, ignoring the tremendous presence that Google Slides currently has in education! This app allows me to use my Apple Watch or my iPhone to complete the simple, but important, task of getting from slide to slide in a presentation. The Watch app lags just a little compared to the phone app, but not enough to cause any concern or frustration! Well done!

I’m always extremely wary when it comes to downloading additional apps to my computer. After testing it out on my work computer I fell in love with the simplicity. Works seamlessly and now I can give presentations using my phone! Recommend to any of you who are searching for a way to use your phone as a ppt remote.

This is a great app to remotely control a presentation even if your not in the same room, building, state, or even country!! If I had the ability and the funds, to write the developer a check for a Million Dollars, I WOULD!!!

5 Apple Watch apps to simplify your workday

Since its debut in 2015 the Apple Watch has become an industry leader , greatly surpassing the sales of competing smartwatches. It’s simple to use, provides nice benefits out of the box, and can have its capabilities greatly extended through apps–but the latter aren’t always easy to find.

Fitness features , phone calls, and text messages all work with little user setup, but it’s left to Apple Watch owners to sift through apps for WatchOS from your wrist. As great as the Apple Watch is, it can be hard to find useful apps on so small a screen. If you can’t find it on your wrist, you may have to scour the iOS App Store, where you’ll have to hope the app you’re interested in has a version for the Watch.

Business users who embraced the Apple Watch as a new productivity tool may be left wondering how to use it when the apps they need are difficult to locate. You can keep digging through the App Store for Apple Watch apps to simplify your workday, or you can try out one or more of these five options. Apple offers Voice Memos on the Apple Watch, but all it does is record audio and sync it between your Apple devices. If you want transcription, tagging, and other features you’ll have to turn to a third-party app.

Drafts is a free note-taking app for iOS and WatchOS that makes note-taking on your wrist dead simple: Just open the app, press the microphone button, dictate your note, tap done, and watch the note show up in the app’s inbox.

Notes can be tagged and sorted in a variety of ways, but those features are best done with the accompanying iOS app. The best feature of Drafts on the Apple Watch is how simple and accurate it is–I use it regularly to make myself quick notes from my wrist and rarely touch the iOS app to sort them.

For many kinds of work (especially in tech) it’s essential to keep track of time, and Hours is a cross-platform time tracking tool that can be a boon to those who frequently forget to log their hours on particular projects.

Using the Apple Watch version effectively requires setting up Hours on iOS, but once you do it’s worth it: Hours will remind you to start and stop timers if you schedule certain things for certain times of the day, add notes to entries, and (for $7.99 a month) automatically syncs your entries to its cloud-based server.

Hours is also available for teams, so everyone in your office with an Apple Watch can benefit from this useful tool.

I’ve covered IFTTT for TechRepublic before, but I didn’t mention how useful IFTTT can be on the Apple Watch.

You won’t be able to create workflows on your Apple Watch or use it to execute complicated tasks; what you can do is trigger single-tap actions just like those in the IFTTT Do Button , making the WatchOS version of IFTTT essentially an extension of the iOS widget.

4. Microsoft PowerPoint

If you’ve ever given a PowerPoint presentation, you know how important it is to have a reliable remote to move through your slides; you probably also know the presentation remotes can be unreliable and apt to disappear.

Microsoft’s PowerPoint app for iOS comes with a WatchOS version that makes the Apple Watch act just like a presentation remote, allowing users to advance and reverse slides, restart presentations, or end a slide show.

Professionals who have an Apple Watch and make frequent use of PowerPoint shouldn’t leave home without this app.
