i have not submitted any of the assignment of nptel due to my institute final exams but i have filled the exam form too! I'm not understanding what to do?

Dear student hope you are doing well.

It's crucial to take the necessary actions to ensure that you can participate in the exam and complete the course requirements if you haven't turned in any of the assignments for an NPTEL course but have filled out the exam form. What you can do is:

Message NPTEL Support here: As soon as you can, get in touch with NPTEL's official support or contact channels. Describe your circumstance and get advice on the best course of action. Based on company regulations and procedures, they might be able to provide you options.

Describe the Situation: Inform NPTEL of the delay in submitting the assignments (your institute's final exams) in your correspondence. Be truthful and offer any pertinent supporting evidence or paperwork.

Request for exemption: Ask politely if there is any chance of getting an exemption so you can take the exam even though you haven't turned in your assignments. Some platforms might have protocols in place for dealing with such circumstances on an individual basis.

Examine the course policies and guidelines on the NPTEL site to get a sense of how they feel about assignments and tests. Assignments may be necessary in some classes before the exam, while others may be less rigid.

Communicate with Your Institute: If your institute's final exams were the cause of the issue, you could want to talk to the academic department about it. They might be able to speak with NPTEL on your behalf or offer support.

Tips for passing the courses offered by NPTEL

I’m happy to inform that I have passed the Introduction to Internet of Things course offered by NPTEL with Elite + Gold certification.

What is NPTEL ?

NPTEL is an acronym for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology ( IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. NPTEL provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Science and humanities streams.

Course contents will be useful for training the faculty members and through them improve the quality of students. You can join/register NPTEL courses and access the materials for free. You have to pay a nominal amount only if you are registering for exams, leading to certification in your chosen course. Also, most of the institutions refund the amount that you have paid for NPTEL certification.

Advantages of Earning Certification from NPTEL

Most of the NPTEL courses are offered by premier institutions like IITs and IISc.

NPTEL certifications have become mandatory for promotions in most of the academic institutions and recruiters prefer students with NPTEL certifications.

Few universities are also asking their students to take up and get certified as part of their course work.

Credits earned from NPTEL courses are also recognized by most of the universities.

NPTEL Certifications are also approved and recognized as Faculty Development Programme ( FDP ) by AICTE .

So, NPTEL offers a scintillating opportunity to move our career forward and also to enhance our knowledge at our own pace and at less cost.

Here are few tips to ace the NPTEL courses drawn from my personal experience.

Rather than watching the videos, download the transcripts in PDF format. Personally, I feel it is easy to go through the transcripts.

Take the printouts of all the PDFs beforehand itself. Do not wait for the arrival of the mail saying that video has been released for the particular week. You can find the PDFs of all the week at the beginning of the course.

Try to solve the assignments religiously. Remember that for

4 week courses, only 3 best assignments are considered out of 4 assignments

8 week courses, only 6 best assignments are considered out of 8 assignments

12 week courses, only 8 best assignments are considered out of 12 assignments

As you can see, you can miss few assignments but DO NOT if you are really serious about your course. Try to submit the assignments within deadline as there will not be any extension.

For NPTEL courses, assignment marks contribute 25% of the final score and exam marks contribute to 75% of the final score. NPTEL Final Score = 25% of Assignment Marks + 75% of the Exam Marks

With good effort, you can easily crack most of the courses as the pass percentage is 40% (Assignment Marks + Exam Marks).

By analyzing the assignments questions, you can gauge the kind of questions that will be asked in exams.

These NPTEL courses are part of a life long learning process. Prepare notes for each unit. You can always come back and refer these notes whenever necessary.

Most of the courses have questions in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) format.

Programming courses tend to be a little difficult in comparison to theoretical courses. You need to put a lot of effort into understanding the basics of programming concepts.

Usually, NPTEL allocates exam centers at different locations rather than nearer to the residential/office address that you had provided while registering for your exam. Plan and Schedule your travel appropriately.

Revise your course notes the previous day of your exam and get good sleep.

Do not forget to drink lots of water.

All I say is, take the course that is of interest to you, put effort and hope for good.

NPTEL Swayam Pass Mark 2023 (Check Here) | Get Pass Percentage

Nptel swayam pass mark 2023 | nptel certificate minimum pass mark | nptel passing criteria 2023 | nptel pass mark out of 100 | how to get pass mark in nptel exam.

NPTEL Swayam Pass Mark 2023: The SWAYAM evaluation process is now being completed, and once the results are ready for all of the courses, the relevant authority will post them online. Only those applicants who achieve the minimum required marks set by the exam’s conducting authority will be deemed qualified. SWAYAM candidates need to earn a minimum of 40% in order to be eligible to take the test. Those who qualify the exam are awarded the SWAYAM certificate by the Ministry of Education. Following the release of the results, the certificate is issued online. Students who have logged in can download it. At the exam time candidates are mainly searched for NPTEL Swayam pass mark and its minimum pass mark to check their scores if they are passed or not.

There won’t be a follow-up exam if the candidate doesn’t pass the first one. Students can sign up for the next SWAYAM exam. Any correspondence regarding the result will be taken into consideration, and the course coordination’s decision regarding the outcome will be final.

NPTEL Certificate Minimum Pass Mark 2023/ Swayam Pass mark

The process of Swayam pass marks are given below.

Subject Matter Experts (SME – faculty from IITs or partner institutes with input from industry) create recorded video content for courses.
The course is uploaded on the portal and opened for enrollments, which is free.
Every week, about 3 hrs of video content is released along with an assignment , which is evaluated and provides the student with a score.
Teaching Assistants (TAs) and the faculty members support the discussion forum – answering questions and clearing doubts.
hese certificates are envisioned for use in credit transfer to universities or for making the student more employable or for enhancing their growth in their current place of work.

NPTEL pass mark out of 100/ NPTEL Passing Criteria

If someone wants to get a certificate from the IITs/IISc after doing the course, he/she should register for the in-person proctored certification exam that is conducted in 170+ cities across India and in select cities outside India too in collaboration with an exam partner.
For learners in many other countries looking to get certified, online remote proctored exams are also administered. The certification exam is not free but has a nominal fee of Rs 1000.
A learner will pass and be certified only if Average assignment score (out of 100) >= 40 AND Final exam score ( out of 100) >= 40.
The NPTEL Swayam pass mark out of 100 should be 40.
If you are one of them who are searching for NPTEL passing criteria then you have to use this section to get your NPTEL minimum pass mark clearly.
E-verifiable certificates are made available inside the candidate login. Only e-certificates will be published. Hard copies of certificates will NOT be printed. The pass criteria depends on the courses.
The above mentioned is applicable for most of the courses but for those courses which have non proctored programming exams and for courses in other disciplines, the pass criteria may be different.

How to get pass mark in NPTEL exam

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course. Note:- YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. By using this method you can pass NPTEL Swayam. Who can register for the course? NPTEL online courses are open to everyone. The courses in programming, data structures and algorithms are aimed at undergraduate college students (any engineering or science stream) in their 2nd year or above.
What will be the duration of the course? The course duration will be for about 10 to 11 weeks.

Is there a last date for signing up? Yes, you need to sign up before a last date for every offering of the course. The last date will be displayed prominently in the portal.
Will the same course be offered again in the future? Yes, we have plans to offer the course again. More details will be available later on in the portal.
Can I take a course more than once? Yes, you can sign up every time the course is offered. You'll begin each new session with a blank record.
Can I access the course content after a course ends? Course lectures will be made available online even after the course ends.
What if I sign up and do not watch the lectures or attempt the assignments? If you watch the lectures and submit assignments in the first two weeks, your registration in the course will be confirmed. If you do not login to the portal and submit assignments in the first week, your registration is likely to be cancelled.
I am final year in mechanical stream. I have no strong command over the basics in programming. Does the course start right from basics? Yes. This course can be taken by any student from their 2nd year onwards, from any discipline or stream in science or engineering.
I have to go to college from 7am to 5pm. When can I access this content? The course content is available on the portal at all times of the day. You can watch it whenever you have time from anywhere with an Internet connection.
What is the fee for the certification exam? The fee will be posted on the portal prominently. We expect it to be around Rs. 2000.
What is the certification exam? Where should I write the certification exam? The certification exam will be conducted in the following 10 cities this time (May 31, June 1, 7, 8): North: Lucknow (there is some chance that Delhi will be added) East: Kolkata, Guwahati West: Mumbai, Thane, Ahmedabad South: Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram When you register for the exam, you will be able to pick the centre. The exam itself will consist of programming questions similar to the ones you will answer in the online course.
I am not free during the dates of the certification exam. What can I do? The certification exams are on Saturday and Sunday. We do hope you can make it on one of the four days. If it is not possible, you will have to appear for the exams offered in the future.
What is NPTEL and who are your partners in this program? NPTEL stands for National Programme for Technology Enhanced Learning, and it is a joint project of seven IITs and IISc Bangalore funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. In this certification effort, the entire portal onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in is powered by Google as part of their continuing partnership with NPTEL. NASSCOM is a partner in the program, and NASSCOM member companies such as TCS and CTS have participated in syllabus and content creation.

Hope you are safe and doing fine in the current situation.

This is with regard to the Jan-Apr 2020 NPTEL exams. Based on the feedback received the last couple of days from several stakeholders such as learners, colleges, etc, we have decided on the following:

The exams scheduled on 23/24/25 June, stand cancelled and the choices learners had opted for - In person exams or Refund, stand cancelled.

We will issue an attested assignment score sheet letter, regardless of your assignment score - which can be used as appropriate.

We will calculate the Average Assignment score as follows:

- Average of the best 3/6/8 assignments for courses of duration 4/8/12 weeks (or as announced apriori in the course in case of changes)

- If this score >= 40/100 (which is also one condition for certificate eligibility), we will issue a modified Pass certificate.

- If this score < 40/100, this certificate will not be issued.

This certificate will not be counted towards the Domain certification as a completed course. Similarly, we will not be issuing an AICTE-NPTEL FDP certificate also based on this.

We will put up a pdf in which we will explain the assignment score sheet and the Pass certificate and request them to accept and process further. We will also independently approach the ministry, AICTE and UGC to convey this new process for Jan 2020 semester to all universities.

Independent of the Pass certificate and the Attested assignment score sheet mentioned above, in order to plan for a possible exam sometime in the future, we will share another form after the above activities are completed, with 2 choices:

a. Cancel and refund - Those who are very sure that they would not want to appear for regular proctored NPTEL exams and want a refund - can choose this. We will refund the money. We may not be able to open registrations again in this case if you wish to appear for it later.
b. NPTEL can retain fees for exams whenever organized for Jan 2020 courses -Those who would like to wait and take the exam with us - whenever we conduct it - can opt for this choice and we will keep the fees with us. Writing this and passing as per the certification criteria laid down will get them the regular NPTEL certificate. This will alone be counted towards the Domain certificate and issue of the FDP certificate.

NPTEL (Swayam) Course Examination Experience

NPTEL is an acronym for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science.

Many students who dream of attending scholarly institutions, through NPTEL will have access to quality content from them.

There are courses on multiple streams both technical and non-technical. The courses are for 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks usually.

I have taken many courses on NPTEL up until now but have taken exams for the following courses.

An introduction to programming through: C++ 12 Weeks (by Professor Abhiram G Ranade)
Programming in Java: 12 Weeks (by Professor Debasis Samanta)
Data structures and algorithms using Java: 12 Weeks (by prof Debasis Samanta)

Introduction to programming through C++: The procedures for all the examinations were similar, here I will be talking about “An introduction to Programming through C++”

The 12-week course was taught by Prof. Abhiram G. Ranade of the Computer Science and Engineering department at IIT Bombay.
It is a core undergraduate course where each week new topics were covered very thoroughly. Each week has assignments consisting of 5 coding questions and 10 MCQs of that week’s subject.
About the 10th-week applications for exams will be opened, and we will be asked to select our examination centers. The course is free to enroll but a fee of 1000/- is to be paid for the exam.
Prior exams we will be notified to download hall tickets and should take a physical copy of it and an identity card along with us to the exam hall.
The exam is for 3 hours, each of us will be assigned an individual computer. Exam will have mostly MCQs depending on the course and is for 100 marks. The questions are ranged from easy to hard and everything will be by the course itself.

Criteria to get a Certificate:

Average assignment score = 25% of the average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100
Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

You will be eligible for the certificate only if Average Assignment Score >= 10/25 & Exam score>= 30/75

An e certificate will be provided after the results are announced and the criteria’s fulfilled

NPTEL: Exam Registration is open now for Jan 2022 courses!

Dear Learner,

Here is the much-awaited announcement on registering for the Jan 2022 NPTEL course certification exam.

1. The registration for the certification exam is open only to those learners who have enrolled in the course.

2. If you want to register for the exam for this course, login here using the same email id which you had used to enroll to the course in Swayam portal. Please note that Assignments submitted through the exam registered email id ALONE will be taken into consideration towards final consolidated score & certification.

3 . Date of exam: April 23, 2022

4. Exam fees:

If you register for the exam and pay before March 14, 2022, 10:00 AM, Exam fees will be Rs. 1000/- per exam .

If you register for exam before March 14, 2022, 10:00 AM and have not paid or if you register between March 14, 2022, 10:00 AM & March 18, 2022, 10:00 AM, Exam fees will be Rs. 1500/- per exam

5. 50% fee waiver for the following categories:

Students belonging to the SC/ST category: please select Yes for the SC/ST option and upload the correct Community certificate.

Students belonging to the PwD category with more than 40% disability: please select Yes for the option and upload the relevant Disability certificate.

6. Last date for exam registration: March 18, 2022 10:00 AM (Friday).

7. Mode of payment: Online payment - debit card/credit card/net banking.

8. HALL TICKET:

The hall ticket will be available for download tentatively by 2 weeks prior to the exam date . We will confirm the same through an announcement once it is published.

9. FOR CANDIDATES WHO WOULD LIKE TO WRITE MORE THAN 1 COURSE EXAM:- you can add or delete courses and pay separately – till the date when the exam form closes. Same day of exam – you can write exams for 2 courses in the 2 sessions. Same exam center will be allocated for both the sessions.

10. Data changes:

Last date for data changes: March 18, 2022 10:00 AM :

All the fields in the Exam form except for the following ones can be changed until the form closes.

The following 6 fields can be changed ONLY when there are NO courses in the course cart. And you will be able to edit the following fields only if you: -

REMOVE unpaid courses from the cart And/or - CANCEL paid courses

2. SC/ST Proof

3. Are you a person with disabilities? *

4. Are you a person with disabilities above 40%?

5. Disabilities Proof

6. What is your role ?

Note: Once you remove or cancel a course, you will be able to edit these fields immediately.

But, for cancelled courses, refund of fees will be initiated only after 2 weeks.
