The internal audit manager cover letter salutation: how to address hiring managers

After covering the format of your internal audit manager cover letter, let's look at the salutation.

Back in the day, the cordial "To whom it may concern" or "Dear Sir/Madam", might have worked out fine.

But, nowadays, your cover letter should approach hiring managers on a more personal basis.

So, what to do about your cover letter salutation ?

If you've messaged the recruiters and are on a first name basis or a more formal one, use the hiring manager's name in the greeting (e.g. "Dear Sophie," "Dear Ms. Givens", or "Dear Mr. Everett,").

Always aim to make the effort to find out the name of the hiring manager, who'd be assessing your application. Search on LinkedIn, double-check the advert on the corporate website, or message the brand on social media to find out more about the role.

If you can't find the hiring manager's name (and still want to sound professional), use "Dear HR Team,", "Dear Hiring Manager,", or the likes.

List of salutations you can use

  • Dear Hiring Manager,
  • Dear [Company Name] Team,
  • Dear [Department Name] Hiring Team,
  • Dear [Mr./Ms. Last Name],
  • Dear [Job Title] Search Committee,
  • Dear [First Name] [Last Name],

Use your internal audit manager cover letter introduction to share something memorable about your experience .

Choosing your best achievement for the middle or body of your internal audit manager cover letter

Now that you have the recruiters' attention, it's time to write the chunkiest bit of your internal audit manager cover letter .

The body consists of three to six paragraphs that focus on one of your achievements.

Use your past success to tell a story of how you obtained your most job-crucial skills and know-how (make sure to back these up with tangible metrics).

Another excellent idea for your internal audit manager cover letter's middle paragraphs is to shine a light on your unique professional value.

Write consistently and make sure to present information that is relevant to the role.

Two ideas on how to end the final paragraph of your internal audit manager cover letter

Closing your internal audit manager cover letter , you want to leave a memorable impression on recruiters, that you're a responsible professional.

End your cover letter with how you envision your growth, as part of the company. Make realistic promises on what you plan to achieve, potentially, in the next six months to a year.

Before your signature, you could also signal hiring managers that you're available for the next steps. Or, a follow-up call, during which you could further clarify your experience or professional value.

Lacking experience: here's how to write your internal audit manager cover letter

As a candidate with no experience, it's important to be honest from the get-go of your application .

Use your internal audit manager cover letter to sell your unique talents. Choose an accomplishment from your academic background or your volunteer work to show the skills that are relevant to the role.

Focus on your career objectives and how you see the job to align with them. Be specific and, at the same time, realistic about where you picture yourself in five years.

Key takeaways

Winning recruiters over shouldn't be difficult if you use your internal audit manager cover letter to tell a story that:

  • Is personalized by greeting your readers and focusing on key job skills greets;
  • Isn't spread all over the place, but instead focuses on one key achievement and selling your value as a professional;
  • Introduces your enthusiasm for the role, passion for the job, or creativity in communication;
  • Is also visually appealing - meeting the best HR practices;
  • Ends with a nod to the future and how you envision your growth, as part of the company.

  • Hoolitse paigutuse eest Teie kaaskiri peab olema kooskõlas teie CV-ga.

How to create a good cover letter for an internal auditor: free tips and tricks

Seasoned professionals as much as entry level professionals may have trouble drafting anything more than some bland, generic phrases to introduce their resumes. With a little nudge from us, you can easily compose a job-winning text. Just follow our recommendations for standard business style writing. You’ll find the internal auditor cover letter example below.

Do some preliminary work. Before you even sit down to draft a document, do some research. Study the job posting long and hard. Find out the names of key figures in the company. Make sure you get the recruiter’s name right.

Don’t see the document as a mere formality. Many hiring managers testify that sifting through a pile of letters is a first step in the recruitment process. Skipping, or failing to treat it seriously, a job application document, you are losing good chances to find a perfect job.

Be formal in formatting and structure. Even if you copy-paste the content pdf file into the body of the email, make sure you include your contacts and stick to a formal letter format, with greeting, introduction, main part, and conclusion.

Don’t be too formal in your attitude. Don’t use too formal grammar constructions and clichéd expressions. What sounds better? “I wish to cordially express my sincere gratitude” or “I am thankful for your time”? Use simple, everyday language.

Use a strong opening and closing sentences. Instead of boring clichés, mention that you have long been a fan of the company and can share your numerous ideas at an interview.

Don’t be negative. It’s obvious that you should not say bad things about your past employers and colleagues. However, neither should you badmouth yourself. Always write in positive terms about yourself.

A strong cover letter can set you apart from other applicants and help you land an interview. Here are some common mistakes to avoid when writing a Internal Auditor cover letter:

  • Not Customizing the Cover Letter: No matter how much you want to rely on a template or pre- written cover letter, it is important to customize your cover letter to the job you’re applying for. Make sure to include information that pertains directly to the Internal Auditor role.

How to Write an Internal Auditor Cover Letter?

An Internal Auditor Cover Letter is a document that individuals can use if they would like to apply for a job as an Internal Auditor. The purpose of the letter is to introduce the candidate to their potential employer and convince them to schedule an interview.

As a general rule, individuals use this type of cover letter to tell their potential employer about themselves, their work experience, skills, and qualification. With this letter, you can show yourself as a worthy candidate who will fit in perfectly. An Internal Auditor Cover Letter sample can be downloaded below .

A cover letter can help you to stand out from other candidates and highlight the things that make you a valuable employee. Some individuals opt-out from writing a cover letter, however, if the employer stated in the job offer that they would like to receive a cover letter from you do not ignore it and prepare a cover letter.

Wiring your cover letter can be intimidating since it is hard to decide what exactly you should include in it. Usually, a Cover Letter for an Internal Auditor can consist of the following parts:

  • The Greeting . Commonly, individuals start their letters by greeting their potential employer or interviewer. You can use a neutral greeting such as "Dear Sir/Madam," or you can address the receiver of your letter by name if it was stated in the job offer;
  • Introduction . Here, you can introduce yourself and state the reason for writing. This section is not supposed to be too long, a candidate only needs a few sentences to mention their qualification, work experience, and the position they are applying for. In addition to this, you can mention more things (like skills or other relevant information) that you think will help to describe you best.
  • Information About the Candidate . Generally, this is the biggest part of your letter and it can be divided into several sections. Each section can be dedicated to a different subject, i.e. your qualification and educational courses, your work experience and obtained skills, your professional achievements and other accomplishments, etc.
  • Conclusion . Make sure you include your contact details at the end of your letter so that your prospective employer or interviewer will know how to reach you. You can also express your hope to hear from them soon and assure them you are ready to meet.

After you have finished your cover letter, you can attach your resume to it and send it to your potential employer. Nowadays most job applications are sent online, however, if you submit your documents on paper do not forget to include information about the addressee and sender in it.
