What Our Clients Say...

We've worked 1:1 with 3000+ students . Here's what some of them have to say:

David's depth of knowledge in research methodology was truly impressive. He demonstrated a profound understanding of the nuances and complexities of my research area, offering insights that I hadn't even considered. His ability to synthesize information, identify key research gaps, and suggest research topics was truly inspiring. I felt like I had a true expert by my side, guiding me through the complexities of the proposal.

Cyntia Sacani (US)

I had been struggling with the first 3 chapters of my dissertation for over a year. I finally decided to give GradCoach a try and it made a huge difference. Alexandra provided helpful suggestions along with edits that transformed my paper. My advisor was very impressed.

Tracy Shelton (US)

Working with Kerryn has been brilliant. She has guided me through that pesky academic language that makes us all scratch our heads. I can't recommend Grad Coach highly enough; they are very professional, humble, and fun to work with. If like me, you know your subject matter but you're getting lost in the academic language, look no further, give them a go.

Tony Fogarty (UK)

So helpful! Amy assisted me with an outline for my literature review and with organizing the results for my MBA applied research project. Having a road map helped enormously and saved a lot of time. Definitely worth it.

Jennifer Hagedorn (Canada)

Everything about my experience was great, from Dr. Shaeffer’s expertise, to her patience and flexibility. I reached out to GradCoach after receiving a 78 on a midterm paper. Not only did I get a 100 on my final paper in the same class, but I haven’t received a mark less than A+ since. I recommend GradCoach for everyone who needs help with academic research.

Antonia Singleton (Qatar)

I started using Grad Coach for my dissertation and I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for them, I would have really struggled. I would strongly recommend them – worth every penny!

Richard Egenreider (South Africa)

Have A Question?

Here are some of the most popular questions we get asked.

Dissertation Coaching

How does coaching work.

Working with Grad Coach means you get a dedicated, highly-qualified research specialist to help you through any stage of your research.

Whether you just want a little initial guidance to make sure you're headed in the right direction, or you want hands-on, ongoing support throughout your entire research journey, your coach will be there for you whenever you need help.

Your dedicated coach will work with you using three channels: live sessions, content reviews and email support.

Live Coaching Sessions

A live coaching session is a real-time online meeting (audio or video) with your coach. In these sessions, you can discuss anything you need assistance with. For example, you might discuss topic ideas, how to structure your next chapter, how to undertake a specific analysis, etc.

Content Reviews

A content review is an offline review, where you send your document to your coach and they’ll meticulously review it at the scheduled time. They will provide extensive commentary within the document (including what’s wrong, why it’s problematic and how to correct it), and then email it back to you (see an example here ). If you want to have a call in addition to the content review, you can do that too.

Email Support

In addition to these two options, you can also email your coach at any time to ask any questions you have, so you'll never be left feeling unsure.

How is coaching different from a university-allocated supervisor?

There are a few key differences:

On-demand access

A university-allocated supervisor can only spend a limited amount of time with each student and their support is usually limited to a certain amount of time per section of content. Also, support is often limited to one or two formats (e.g., email).

Conversely, we provide unlimited , multi-channel, on-demand support . You can book a live coaching session anytime you need to, get your work reviewed as many times as you like (see an example here ) and drop us an email whenever you have a question or concern.

Plain-language advice

Supervisors often communicate in complex “ivory tower academic-speak” that is difficult to understand and not particularly actionable. Students often struggle to make sense of their supervisor’s advice and feedback, due to this language barrier and experience gap.

Conversely, we provide you with plain language, actionable advice and feedback, with lots of examples and analogies to help you grasp concepts as quickly and easily as possible.

A safe, confidential space

The supervisor-student relationship is a tricky one to navigate, as the supervisor is often the first/primary marker or will be assessing you in some way. This creates an awkward dynamic, where it can feel somewhat risky to ask certain questions or propose ideas.

Conversely, your dedicated coach is your “partner in research” and there are no power dynamics. We create a 100% safe, comfortable space for you to ask questions, learn and grow. No question is a "stupid question".

Combined research expertise

Your supervisor will generally be allocated based on your area of research (your topic), not your methodology. This means that oftentimes (not always) they are not methodology experts and cannot provide the best possible guidance regarding your research design.

Conversely, the Grad Coach team consists of methodology experts across the spectrum of qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods. While you'll usually only work with one dedicated coach, you'll have access to the combined knowledge pool, which means you'll get the best possible advice.

How is coaching different from editing and proofreading?

Editing and proofreading services focus purely on language, formatting and technical presentation requirements, such as referencing. In other words, the focus is on the language , not the content itself. As a result, a dissertation can be perfectly edited and proofread but still fail, as the content itself is poor.

With coaching, on the other hand, the focus is on content . In other words, we focus on the quality of the research itself. For example, we look at things like:

  • Is the research topic well-defined and justified?
  • Are the research aims, objectives and research questions well-articulated and aligned?
  • Is the literature review comprehensive, integrative and well-structured?
  • Is the methodology well-considered and executed?
  • Is the analysis sound and do the conclusions make sense?

Simply put – coaching focuses on the things that earn the majority of the marks . Additionally, we do offer a separate editing and proofreading service to polish the document, once the content is finalised.

Is coaching allowed by universities?

Yes . In fact, many universities refer students to us and some institutions even use our content (articles and videos) as part of their curriculum.

We provide dissertation coaching to help you improve the quality of your work. Importantly, all work must be your own – we do not write for you . While there are organisations that will cross this ethical boundary, we refuse to engage in any activity which may be considered as academic misconduct.

WARNING - If you are considering any academic writing service, please be aware that the use of such services can lead to expulsion or even revocation of your degree years after the fact. Many websites offering such services provide extremely low-quality work that is unlikely to pass and some websites are outright scams preying on desperate students.

What's included in the (free) initial consultation?

The purpose of the initial consultation is for us to assess your specific situation , needs and wants, and then e xplain how we can help you .

Please note that the initial consultation is not a coaching session. Naturally, we cannot provide accurate guidance without first having a sound understanding of your project, and we need to charge for such services.

Why should I work with Grad Coach specifically?

There are a few factors that distinguish Grad Coach from the alternatives:

On-demand, online service

Grad Coach was built to give you the help you need, whenever you need it, wherever you are. You can book live audio/video sessions, get your written work reviewed and sent back to you, or just drop your coach an email whenever you have a question. 1-on-1, hands-on help is always just a click away.

Friendly, plain-language coaches

At Grad Coach, our goal is to bring academia "back down to earth". While our coaches have over 100 years of combined experience within academia (including dissertation supervision, marking and lecturing), we always aim to simplify the content as much as possible, using plain language, actionable advice and feedback. You can download a sample content review here to see this in practice.

More than just coaching - a one-stop-shop

In addition to our flagship dissertation coaching service, we also provide a suite of time-saving services such as interview transcription, qualitative coding, survey design, statistical testing, and editing and proofreading. This means you get everything you need under one trusted roof. You can visit the services page to learn more about our full offering.

An accredited, award-winning operation

We take our work seriously, which is why we're accredited by the Tutors' Association UK and subscribe to their extensive code of ethics. We've also won multiple awards, including " Best Dissertation Coaching Service 2021 " (AI International), " Best Dissertation & Thesis Coaching Specialists 2020 " (MEA) and " Top 50 Student Blog " (Feedspot). To date, we've supported over 3000 students with private dissertation coaching and approximately 7 million students with video lessons.

To learn more about Grad Coach and the team behind it, visit the “About Us” page .

Which universities and degrees do you support?

We can provide coaching for a wide range of dissertations, theses and research projects/assignments at Bachelors , Honours , Master's and Doctoral -level degrees, especially (but not limited to) those within the social sciences.

Importantly, our expertise lies in the research process itself , especially research design, methodologies and academic writing – rather than specific research areas/topics (e.g. psychology, management, etc.). In other words, the support we provide is topic-agnostic , which allows us to support students across a very broad range of research topics.

If you’re unsure about whether we’re the right fit, feel free to drop us an email or book a free initial consultation .

Can I get a coach that specialises in psychology/marketing/etc.?

As we mentioned previously, our expertise lies in the research process itself , especially research design, methodologies and academic writing – rather than specific research areas/topics (e.g., psychology, management, etc.).

Simply put, the support we provide is topic-agnostic , which allows us to support students across a very broad range of research topics. That said, if there is a coach on our team that has experience in your area of research, as well as your chosen methodology, we can allocate them to your project (depending on availability).

Can I work with multiple coaches at once?

No. We work on a 1-on-1 basis, where each client has a dedicated coach assigned to their project, to ensure that they receive the highest possible quality of service.

How much does coaching cost?

Since our coaching services are completely custom-tailored for each student, they are billed on a time basis (as opposed to a project basis). This allows you to engage as much or as little as you want, with no long-term commitments or tie-downs.

The hourly rate itself depends on whether you purchase single hours or a discounted package. Please visit the pricing page for more information.

Do you have any testimonials or reviews?

Yes - you can view our Facebook and Trustpilot reviews here . You can also read about our accreditations and awards here .

Will my work be treated confidentially?

Absolutely. Your work will be treated completely confidentially and will not be shared with any third parties, nor published anywhere. We can sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) if you wish. Once you have completed your project, we can delete all content from our servers.

Do you offer other services?

Yes, in addition to dissertation coaching, we provide a suite of time-saving services , including:

  • Interview transcription
  • Qualitative data coding
  • Survey design and hosting
  • Statistical testing (SPSS & R)
  • Editing and proofreading

If you have any other requirements, feel free to contact us to discuss them.

Can you write (or rewrite) sections for me?

No - all writing must be your own. We can hold your hand throughout the research process, but we cannot write for you as that would constitute academic misconduct.

WARNING - If you are considering any academic writing service, please be aware that the use of such services can lead to expulsion or even revocation of your degree years after the fact. Many websites offering such services provide extremely low-quality work that is unlikely to pass, and some websites are outright scams preying on desperate students.

English is not my first language (ESL student). Can you help me?

Yes , we can. In fact, many of our students are international ESL students. We can assist both with the academic aspects (e.g., coaching) and the English communication aspects (e.g., editing and proofreading).

My work is due in the next few days. Can you help me?

It’s not ideal, but we will do our best to help. Please email us or book an initial consultation as soon as possible.

Can you help me apply for a degree programme?

If your application requires a research topic or proposal (as is common for Master's and PhD applications), we can assist with that aspect of the application. However, if you require admissions-specific advice and guidance, that is not our area of expertise.

Please book a free initial consultation with us to discuss.

I still have questions…

No problem. Feel free to email us or book an initial consultation to discuss.

Dissertation Consulting Services

A thesis or dissertation is an extended form of academic writing based on original research. It is for the conferment of a doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree - they are probably the most extended writing pieces at the college or university level.

Handling such a task can be intimidating, especially when you don't know where to start. That is why dissertation consulting services are necessary, not only for beginners but for pros as well. They help you work out your dissertation effortlessly to achieve the best results.

Dissertation Consulting – How We Help

Dissertation consulting services are necessary for crafting excellent dissertations. Starting from the conception of the research problem to content to copy, you need these services. Our company works with all levels of students at a much more economical price than other online firms.

Working with excellent (and expensive!) counselors such as ours ensures that you don't get stuck as you write your dissertation. We achieve this task by conducting the following activities:

  • We get aquatinted with the student – their biography, goals, and timeline.
  • Students then send us what they have at hand
  • Our dissertation coach gives feedback and comments
  • The student either incorporates our suggestions or not and returns the work to us.
  • We continue with the process until the student is satisfied.

Our dissertation consulting, therefore, makes your writing much more robust and smoother. Do you have an aspect of dissertation writing that you find challenging? Let us help you sail through this swiftly. In the end, you will come out more confident and happier in your writing.

  • You will use the method to draft a rough copy and then upload it for review
  • After going through it, our dissertation consultant will suggest any necessary improvements
  • You will then make a revision based on the suggestions and upload it
  • Our consultant will then provide you with a finalized dissertation
  • Consultation is complete, and you can rate your coach

The duration for the coaching dissertation session will vary depending on the pace of revisions. The longer the work you submit, the longer it may take to finalize the consultation session. However, time should not be a factor if you want quality work. Remember, good things take time.

2. What sets Rock your Thesis apart from other providers?

The market for consulting on bachelor theses can be confusing, with many providers whose services are not always clear. Students often report consultants who demand exorbitant prices and exploit uncertainties. Typically, there are two types of providers:

These consultants offer their services online, usually have only basic academic degrees, and rarely have the necessary expertise in specialized areas like engineering or natural sciences.

These platforms connect students with various consultants, without providing clear information about their qualifications. Often, detailed information about the consultants is lacking, making decision-making difficult.

Rock your Thesis stands out with clear advantages:

  • 1 Highly qualified bachelor thesis consultants: Our consultants have doctoral degrees or are in the process of obtaining one, and possess deep expertise and experience in their specialty areas.
  • 2 Transparency: We place great value on transparently presenting our consultants and their qualifications. Information about our consultants is easily accessible.
  • 3 Accessibility: Our consultants understand the challenges faced by students from their own experience and offer quick, straightforward help.
  • 4 Fair pricing: Our transparent pricing policy, often with the possibility of tax deductions, ensures financial clarity.
  • 5 Proven consulting program: Our scientifically based program is supported by leading institutions and has already helped many students achieve success.

With these distinct features, Rock your Thesis clearly differentiates itself from other providers in the field of consulting for bachelor theses.

3. Who is the consulting intended for and what benefits does it offer?

Our consulting service for bachelor theses is ideal for students facing various challenges: Some are still looking for a topic, others are new to academic writing, some need to balance study and work, or are under time pressure. Many aim for top grades, feel unsupported by their university, have a complex research topic, or need to conduct demanding empirical analyses. Other challenges may include lack of time due to a career change, uncertainties about research results, lack of direction, or the need to revise their thesis.

The reasons for using a consulting service for bachelor theses are as diverse as the benefits it brings. The key benefits of our consulting include:

  • 1 Efficient time management of the bachelor thesis: Especially for students who need to balance work and study or want to quickly enter the workforce, our targeted consulting is a great help. It provides the necessary motivation and support to successfully complete the bachelor thesis alongside professional obligations.
  • 2 Specific support: Given the often inadequate supervision or poor connection to the university, our consulting service is a valuable resource. It provides access to experienced consultants who offer continuous support on all questions and challenges related to the bachelor thesis.
  • 3 Achieving outstanding performance: Many of our consulting clients use their bachelor thesis to stand out in their cohort and qualify for leading positions in prestigious companies.
"I had no idea about academic writing, but now I have successfully completed my bachelor's degree with a good grade."

What Is a Thesis? | Ultimate Guide & Examples

A thesis is a type of research paper based on your original research. It is usually submitted as the final step of a master’s program or a capstone to a bachelor’s degree.

Writing a thesis can be a daunting experience. Other than a dissertation , it is one of the longest pieces of writing students typically complete. It relies on your ability to conduct research from start to finish: choosing a relevant topic , crafting a proposal , designing your research , collecting data , developing a robust analysis, drawing strong conclusions , and writing concisely .

You may have heard the word thesis as a standalone term or as a component of academic writing called a thesis statement . Keep in mind that these are two very different things.

  • A thesis statement is a very common component of an essay, particularly in the humanities. It usually comprises 1 or 2 sentences in the introduction of your essay , and should clearly and concisely summarize the central points of your academic essay .
  • A thesis is a long-form piece of academic writing, often taking more than a full semester to complete. It is generally a degree requirement for Master’s programs, and is also sometimes required to complete a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts colleges.
  • In the US, a dissertation is generally written as a final step toward obtaining a PhD.
  • In other countries (particularly the UK), a dissertation is generally written at the bachelor’s or master’s level.

The final structure of your thesis depends on a variety of components, such as:

  • Your discipline
  • Your theoretical approach

Humanities theses are often structured more like a longer-form essay . Just like in an essay, you build an argument to support a central thesis.

In both hard and social sciences, theses typically include an introduction , literature review , methodology section ,  results section , discussion section , and conclusion section . These are each presented in their own dedicated section or chapter. In some cases, you might want to add an appendix .

Thesis examples

We’ve compiled a short list of thesis examples to help you get started.

  • Example thesis #1:   “Abolition, Africans, and Abstraction: the Influence of the ‘Noble Savage’ on British and French Antislavery Thought, 1787-1807” by Suchait Kahlon.
  • Example thesis #2: “’A Starving Man Helping Another Starving Man’: UNRRA, India, and the Genesis of Global Relief, 1943-1947″ by Julian Saint Reiman.

The very first page of your thesis contains all necessary identifying information, including:

  • Your full title
  • Your full name
  • Your department
  • Your institution and degree program
  • Your submission date.

Sometimes the title page also includes your student ID, the name of your supervisor, or the university’s logo. Check out your university’s guidelines if you’re not sure.

The acknowledgements section is usually optional. Its main point is to allow you to thank everyone who helped you in your thesis journey, such as supervisors, friends, or family. You can also choose to write a preface , but it’s typically one or the other, not both.

An abstract is a short summary of your thesis. Usually a maximum of 300 words long, it’s should include brief descriptions of your research objectives , methods, results, and conclusions. Though it may seem short, it introduces your work to your audience, serving as a first impression of your thesis.

A table of contents lists all of your sections, plus their corresponding page numbers and subheadings if you have them. This helps your reader seamlessly navigate your document.

Your table of contents should include all the major parts of your thesis. In particular, don’t forget the the appendices. If you used heading styles, it’s easy to generate an automatic table Microsoft Word.

While not mandatory, if you used a lot of tables and/or figures, it’s nice to include a list of them to help guide your reader. It’s also easy to generate one of these in Word: just use the “Insert Caption” feature.

If you have used a lot of industry- or field-specific abbreviations in your thesis, you should include them in an alphabetized list of abbreviations . This way, your readers can easily look up any meanings they aren’t familiar with.

Relatedly, if you find yourself using a lot of very specialized or field-specific terms that may not be familiar to your reader, consider including a glossary . Alphabetize the terms you want to include with a brief definition.

An introduction sets up the topic, purpose, and relevance of your thesis, as well as expectations for your reader. This should:

  • Ground your research topic , sharing any background information your reader may need
  • Define the scope of your work
  • Introduce any existing research on your topic, situating your work within a broader problem or debate
  • State your research question(s)
  • Outline (briefly) how the remainder of your work will proceed

In other words, your introduction should clearly and concisely show your reader the “what, why, and how” of your research.

A literature review helps you gain a robust understanding of any extant academic work on your topic, encompassing:

  • Selecting relevant sources
  • Determining the credibility of your sources
  • Critically evaluating each of your sources
  • Drawing connections between sources, including any themes, patterns, conflicts, or gaps

A literature review is not merely a summary of existing work. Rather, your literature review should ultimately lead to a clear justification for your own research, perhaps via:

  • Addressing a gap in the literature
  • Building on existing knowledge to draw new conclusions
  • Exploring a new theoretical or methodological approach

Theoretical framework

Your literature review can often form the basis for your theoretical framework, but these are not the same thing. A theoretical framework defines and analyzes the concepts and theories that your research hinges on.

Read more about theoretical frameworks

Your methodology chapter shows your reader how you conducted your research. It should be written clearly and methodically, easily allowing your reader to critically assess the credibility of your argument. Furthermore, your methods section should convince your reader that your method was the best way to answer your research question.

A methodology section should generally include:

  • Your overall approach ( quantitative vs. qualitative )
  • Your research methods (e.g., a longitudinal study )
  • Your data collection methods (e.g., interviews or a controlled experiment
  • Any tools or materials you used (e.g., computer software)
  • The data analysis methods you chose (e.g., statistical analysis , discourse analysis )
  • A strong, but not defensive justification of your methods

Read more about methodology sections

Your results section should highlight what your methodology discovered. These two sections work in tandem, but shouldn’t repeat each other. While your results section can include hypotheses or themes, don’t include any speculation or new arguments here.

Your results section should:

  • State each (relevant) result with any (relevant) descriptive statistics (e.g., mean , standard deviation ) and inferential statistics (e.g., test statistics , p values )
  • Explain how each result relates to the research question
  • Determine whether the hypothesis was supported

Additional data (like raw numbers or interview transcripts ) can be included as an appendix . You can include tables and figures, but only if they help the reader better understand your results.

Read more about results sections

Your discussion section is where you can interpret your results in detail. Did they meet your expectations? How well do they fit within the framework that you built? You can refer back to any relevant source material to situate your results within your field, but leave most of that analysis in your literature review.

For any unexpected results, offer explanations or alternative interpretations of your data.

Your thesis conclusion should concisely answer your main research question. It should leave your reader with an ultra-clear understanding of your central argument, and emphasize what your research specifically has contributed to your field.

Why does your research matter? What recommendations for future research do you have? Lastly, wrap up your work with any concluding remarks.

In order to avoid plagiarism , don’t forget to include a full reference list at the end of your thesis, citing the sources that you used. Choose one citation style and follow it consistently throughout your thesis, taking note of the formatting requirements of each style.

Which style you choose is often set by your department or your field, but common styles include MLA , Chicago , and APA.

Create APA citations Create MLA citations

In order to stay clear and concise, your thesis should include the most essential information needed to answer your research question. However, chances are you have many contributing documents, like interview transcripts or survey questions . These can be added as appendices , to save space in the main body.

Once you’re done writing, the next part of your editing process begins. Leave plenty of time for proofreading and editing prior to submission. Nothing looks worse than grammar mistakes or sloppy spelling errors!

Consider using a professional thesis editing service or grammar checker to make sure your final project is perfect.

Once you’ve submitted your final product, it’s common practice to have a thesis defense, an oral component of your finished work. This is scheduled by your advisor or committee, and usually entails a presentation and Q&A session.

After your defense , your committee will meet to determine if you deserve any departmental honors or accolades. However, keep in mind that defenses are usually just a formality. If there are any serious issues with your work, these should be resolved with your advisor way before a defense.

The conclusion of your thesis or dissertation shouldn’t take up more than 5–7% of your overall word count.

If you only used a few abbreviations in your thesis or dissertation , you don’t necessarily need to include a list of abbreviations .

If your abbreviations are numerous, or if you think they won’t be known to your audience, it’s never a bad idea to add one. They can also improve readability, minimizing confusion about abbreviations unfamiliar to your reader.

When you mention different chapters within your text, it’s considered best to use Roman numerals for most citation styles. However, the most important thing here is to remain consistent whenever using numbers in your dissertation .

A thesis or dissertation outline is one of the most critical first steps in your writing process. It helps you to lay out and organize your ideas and can provide you with a roadmap for deciding what kind of research you’d like to undertake.

Generally, an outline contains information on the different sections included in your thesis or dissertation , such as:

  • Your anticipated title
  • Your abstract
  • Your chapters (sometimes subdivided into further topics like literature review , research methods , avenues for future research, etc.)

A thesis is typically written by students finishing up a bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Some educational institutions, particularly in the liberal arts, have mandatory theses, but they are often not mandatory to graduate from bachelor’s degrees. It is more common for a thesis to be a graduation requirement from a Master’s degree.

Even if not mandatory, you may want to consider writing a thesis if you:

  • Plan to attend graduate school soon
  • Have a particular topic you’d like to study more in-depth
  • Are considering a career in research
  • Would like a capstone experience to tie up your academic experience

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any limitations as to which countries students can come from or which universities they are working with.

We especially encourage students from outside of Europe to take part in the Celonis STaR Program. All our materials are available in English.

However, Celonis is legally unable to transact (directly or indirectly) with the following countries: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. In addition, Celonis does not do business in Russia. If the institution you are studying/working at or with is located in/belongs to one of these countries, then you will need to wait until the situation changes to apply for Celonis STaR Program.

Can I schedule a personal meeting with the Research & Innovation Coordinator?

Due to capacity reasons, we do not schedule calls with students. For every question you have regarding your project with Celonis, please first read the FAQs and the information and instructions we have given you in our welcome package (you get this after signing up for our STaR program).

If you have questions that are not answered by the FAQs, please check our Celonis Community (you will get the information how to engage here in your welcome letter after signing up)

If you have still not received the information you are looking for, you can write an email to [email protected] and state as a Subject “STaR Program + (topic of your question)”.

  • Please tell us specifically what your question is and where you need support. Our team will then get back to you. Because we get many requests, following up on your request can take up some days.

Can you help me find an academic supervisor?

If you already know your topic but do not have an academic supervisor yet, we can check within our network whether we know a suitable researcher who can support you. We cannot promise you that we will find somebody, but in most cases this is feasible. It depends on your university whether external supervisors are accepted.

Please note that all communication and the checking of all regulations is in your responsibility. We can only support in making the first introduction.

Do I need to sign any documents to work with you on my project? What about Data Declarations and Non-Disclosure?

If you need to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) depends on your topic. If you only use our standard material and don’t need anything further you don’t need to sign any documents.

If you need access to internal information at Celonis and your thesis contains confidential information (technical data, customer data), you have to sign a Non-Disclosure-Agreement (NDA).

If your project will contain this internal information, your academic supervisor will have to sign an NDA as well, and the project must not be published.

Please also check the Thesis Guidelines in your Welcome Letter for specific information on Non-Disclosure Agreements and Data Security.

How can Celonis support my project?

Celonis can provide researchers and thesis students free access to the academic version of our software and help you analyze your own data. We can provide our expertise and help you get started by giving you access to our digital training platform. We will also connect you with fellow students and researchers through the Celonis community platform. This support is entirely provided online by signing up to our thesis program.

Please do not contact us directly, but first follow the steps of this program. In some cases, we can also provide further support such as contact to experts or interviews. In these cases, we perform a pre-selection of relevant topics through a pitch, for which you can access a template after registration.

How do I find a suitable topic?

You as a student are responsible for finding a topic you want to research on. As a company we have no resources to guide you in finding a research topic. Please frame your topic in agreement with your academic supervisor. If you are writing your thesis with a company, please also make sure that the research topic is in line with your company supervisor.

How closely are you working with external students on their projects?

External students (those not working at Celonis) need to be mainly supervised by their academic and/or company supervisors. We do not have the capacity to support every project extensively.

I am a working student at a company and I would like to use the Celonis Academic Intelligent Business Cloud for my project, which is at the same time a commercial project at the company I work for. Is this possible?

Yes, but only if you use the academic version of our software just for the scope of the project, and only you personally have access to the Celonis account. Any primarily commercial use of our academic version is prohibited, as stated in the terms of use.

Is it also possible to write a doctoral/PhD thesis with support by Celonis?

Yes! If you want to write your PhD Thesis using Celonis materials, please sign up for our STaR programme. You may book an appointment with our Research & Innovation Coordinator, who will be able to discuss the scope of our involvement. However, we do not give out any PhD scholarships or working positions only with the purpose of writing a PhD thesis.

Is there a possibility to work with Celonis as a working student while I write my thesis?

At the moment, we do not offer working student positions only for the purpose of writing a thesis. However, you can check our career page for open internship or working student positions and then contact us to find out if a combination with your thesis topic is possible.

International Human Resource Management refers to activities that are designed to support organisations in managing human resources at an international level so that competitive advantage can be maintained at both the national and international level. The subject area includes understanding of culture factors, both in terms of beliefs and attitudes of international employees and in relation to international employment legislation. Studying the area provides insights into the way that corporate HR functions can contribute to international business strategy and build functional knowledge of the main developments in the management of expatriates and other forms of international management. Changing perspectives are crucial as more and more organisations operate on a global basis and have head offices in a home country and operational sites in host nations. Functionally this can involve expatriates but increasingly includes high usage of virtual technology to create links between home and host country operational sites. The following topics are an indication of key areas of current interest in the field.

  • What are the benefits and challenges of inter-cultural team working in virtual environments and how these teams influence competitive advantage.
  • Virtual working environments became something of a norm during the pandemic. Will this apply to home countries of international corporations as well?

Innovation has become a primary force driving the growth, performance, and valuation of companies. However, sometimes there is a wide gap between the aspirations of executives to innovate and their ability to execute. Many companies make the mistake of trying to spur innovation by turning to unreliable best practices, and to organisational structures and processes. Moreover, executives who focus on stimulating and supporting innovation by their employees can promote and sustain it with the current talent and resources more effectively than they could by using other incentives. This area focuses on innovation at the individual level and at the group level within organisations.

How to appropriately emphasize the importance of consulting more to a student?

I'm a PhD student and a full-time researcher in my uni. This year I was assigned with supervising of one Bachelor's thesis. My PhD supervisor invented a topic, which is really interesting, but a really difficult one for this level (combination of quantum chemistry and neural networks).

Student, who assigned for that, has a programming background, so he doesn't have much experience in mathematics or a theoretical computer science. Nevertheless, I believed he can catch up and I had some literature prepared for him.

At first he didn't contact me for the first several weeks, which made me pretty nervous and I wrote him a polite reminding e-mail with a consultation suggestion. He came and we agreed on some plan. Several weeks later, on our second consultation he showed just a little real progress, but I still considered it ok, believing, that he's studying the underlying theory beforehand.

The problem is now, that he didn't show up since and I had to contact him again, only to find out, that he was too occupied by his job and that he will be writing e-mails with his progress.

So, I'm afraid, based on his behaviour, that he tries to appear independent and to develop the software for the thesis on his own. That could be a real problem as he will progress too slow without any guidance (he has NO previous experience with his topic, except programming skills).

So, my question is - how can I politely persuade him to communicate with me more often? I really want him to successfully finish his thesis, both because of my "score" during PhD and because I would otherwise feel guilty of ruining someone else's career.

  • Is the student a full-time student with a part-time job or a full-time employee who's a part-time student? I think that could change expectations and timelines. –  mkennedy Commented Nov 13, 2017 at 19:20
  • @mkennedy He is a full-time student, who works in some small private company. In my country you're sometimes "forced" into similar situation, when you enrol to the full-time study programme and then you need suddenly more money. So, to be clear, I understand his possible motivation. –  Eenoku Commented Nov 16, 2017 at 12:23

I have a completely different background, I'm in the lab very often and so are my students. Still they can become quite independent and it can be hard to keep an eye on what they're doing exactly.

Suggesting to communicate more and persuading them to ask more questions is (in my opinion) the wrong way to approach your problem. You cannot expect a bachelor level student to learn - all by himself - both running a project and the science that goes with the project. Maybe that could work for the top 1% of students.

I'd start having weekly meetings, and then it's your job to ask them questions, teach them stuff and keep them on track. Suggesting someone to ask questions doesn't really work, so you should really ask questions yourself that force them to communicate about the project.

Really sitting down and discussing the project will lower the barriers on both sides. Your suggestions won't sound like orders, and there will be no e-mail record of their silly questions. Start slow before you start having any real expectations.

At the moment I'd be surprised if they even started with the project.

  • Right. Once per week meetings with clear intermediate deliverables on a specific timeline. –  Dawn Commented Nov 13, 2017 at 16:45
  • I'd say you don't have to push it that far. In this case ANY amount of clear deliverables, timelines and meetings would help the project along faster. –  VonBeche Commented Nov 13, 2017 at 17:39
  • Besides the push-oriented approach (definitely do create a plan, define deliverables, and ask questions), I would also invite him to sit in the lab with an agreed schedule. Besides helping him focus, it'll also make you available for questions. –  Vladimir Gritsenko Commented Nov 14, 2017 at 17:30

The Best Final Theses in 2022

March 27, 2023

Collage of the best final theses 2022 submitted at Munich Business School

More than 170 final theses were submitted to the examination office of Munich Business School in 2022. Four of them stood out in particular: They are the best theses of the year and were included in the MBS Outstanding Thesis series. In the blog article, we present the topics of the theses in more detail and let the honorees and their supervisors have their say.

As in the previous year , the best theses of 2022 demonstrate that bachelor’s and master’s theses are not only the icing on the cake on the way to graduation, but can also make a valuable contribution to research on current topics. “Best”, by the way, does not only refer to an outstanding grade; the theses should primarily convince through innovative approaches and methods as well as new findings.

And now, clear the ring for the best theses of 2022!

Mitigating, Managing and Moving Past Burnout: An Organizational Perspective on Mental and Physical Well-Being

Bachelor’s thesis by gavin trudeau.

Gavin Trudeau, graduate of the bachelor’s program International Business at MBS, deals in his bachelor’s thesis with the topic of burnout, which has become more present in society as well as in medicine and the workplace in recent years. On the basis that burnout is not just an isolated feeling of overwhelm, but a syndrome which is experienced after ongoing negative experiences that and poses great dangers to organizations and their employees, Gavin Trudeau discusses causes, symptoms, and prevention strategies. By combining a comprehensive literature review with empirical research consisting of a self-reporting survey and in-depth interviews, the bachelor’s graduate succeeds in painting a “holistic picture” that reveals “not only what causes stress at the workplace but also shows the drivers as well as appropriate measures at the company and their relation to avoid negative impacts” – say the thesis supervisors Prof. Dr. Arnd Albrecht and Evelyn Albrecht-Goepfert.

Portrait Gavin Trudeau

We asked Gavin Trudeau how he came to address the topic of burnout in his bachelor’s thesis:

“I have always been interested in psychology and the importance of mental health so it was important for me to bring those two elements into my thesis and relate it to current issues I had been witnessing in the business landscape. At the time I started thinking about my topic we were still in the depths of the pandemic, and working from home was still mandatory for most people. I was seeing and hearing so many examples of people from my network experiencing abnormal levels of stress at their jobs and having difficulties adapting to the new way of life and working, which ultimately led me to the topic of burnout prevention, stress reduction and health promotion. I thought these topics were extremely relevant and also forward thinking. The importance of mental health in the workplace is on the rise and starting to be seen as equally important as physical health. My motivation for this research was to be able to provide valuable and insightful data and recommendations so that CEO’s, managers, entrepreneurs and employees can integrate these learnings into their lives to create healthier and more positive work environments.”

Bootstrapping New Networks – Incentivization Strategies to Leverage Network Effects within Digital Platforms by Using Blockchain Technology

Master’s thesis by philipp wohlfart.

Portrait Philipp Wohlfart

Start-ups must deal with the “cold start” problem and especially for platforms that fight the “chicken and egg” dilemma, building an initial user base is a major challenge. Since new emerging technologies such as blockchain technology have so far received only little attention in research on this topic, although they promise attractive solutions, Philipp Wohlfart addresses this issue in his master’s thesis. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship graduate explores the question of how blockchain technology can help to bootstrap new networks by using token incentives when application utility is still missing. To answer the question, Phillip Wohlfart conducted six semi-structured experts interviews – with the result that token incentives can support in many ways.

“From the factual coverage to the method to the results, a truly outstanding work: logically argued, well researched, and very structured and transparently presented. Phillip Wohlfarts findings have both theoretical and practical implications for stakeholder management and alignment within platforms. They also provide insight into how to create, evaluate or analyze sustainable blockchain-based platform designs.” Prof. Dr. Anne Tryba, supervisor of the thesis and former Professor for Entrepreneurship at MBS

Analysis of the Impact of Customer Experience Management Among B2B Companies in the Construction Industry

Mba master’s thesis by sarim mehtab hasan.

While B2C companies have been firmly incorporating customer experience management (CXM) strategies into their business models for quite some time and there is accordingly sufficient research on the subject, the relevance of CXM in the B2B context has only recently been repeatedly emphasized. To investigate the importance of CXM in the context of his master’s thesis, Sarim Mehtab Hasan chooses the construction industry, for which the requirement of customer experience is even more vital due to diverse stakeholders. Interviews with senior professionals from construction companies show that the construction industry is still traditional, focuses on short-term returns, which doesn’t align with customer’s needs, and overall lacks awareness of CXM and its benefits. Sarim Hasan uses these – rather sobering – results to derive recommendations as well as short- and long-term implementation strategies for the construction industry in terms of customer experience, which earned his thesis the rating “outstanding”.

Portrait Sarim Mehtab

We asked Sarim Hasan what it means to him that his thesis in the MBA General Management was awarded as MBS Outstanding Thesis:

It was my first time writing a thesis and I learnt a lot during the entire process. Not only was I able to get an extensive understanding of the topic of CXM in the B2B environment but also improve my personal & professional skills. This, combined with the experience I gained from the business projects during my studies at MBS, really elevated my capability to manage projects effectively, which is something I currently apply on a daily basis in my full-time job. Getting this award gave a substantial boost to my confidence levels, especially to take on new risks for a higher reward, and validated the importance of CXM in today’s customer-driven business world. After working for almost 8 months in a customer-facing role post-MBA, I can undoubtedly confirm that my thesis has played a major role in my performance as a Customer Experience Manager at A2MAC1 and I hope that other business students find value in my research and take it even further.

Economic Evaluation of Digitized Health Data for the German Health Care System Using the Example of the Electronic Health Record

Mba master’s thesis by dr. sven grösgen.

Portrait Sven Grösgen

Dr. Sven Grösgen dedicates his final thesis to a highly topical and explosively discussed subject: Germany’s plans to introduce of an electronic patient record. Such a digital file promises not only to improve healthcare, but also to have a positive impact on the economy. However, the status quo is that only 1.8% of total annual spending has been devoted to driving digitization in healthcare, while per capita spending continues to rise at the same time. With a general analysis of the electronic patient record and a detailed cost benefit analysis, Sven Grösgen shows that digital storage of health data has potential to counteract inefficiencies in healthcare and that the costs would be offset within the first ten years. In addition, the MBA graduate advocates an “opt-out” instead of an “opt-in” model and provides further impulses on how the implementation of an electronic patient record can be increased and further developed into an electronic health record.

“The author provides a very good and knowledgeable overview of existing literature and discusses all relevant aspects of the topic. At the time of the research, various reservations of both medical practitioners and patients shaped the discourse, so the focus on the economic benefits is particularly enlightening. As the relevance of the topic has recently increased even more, reading this thesis can be recommended to anyone seeking a sound basis on this topic area.” Prof. Dr. Eva Stumpfegger and Prof. Dr. Florian Bartholomae about why they decided to nominate Sven Grösgen’s thesis as MBS Outstanding Thesis

💡 Background

🦾 who we are, 📚 further reading, 📄 requirements to any work, 📬 how to apply.

Both the revenue of the consulting industry and criticism of it are growing. Despite this seemingly contradictory statement consulting is forecasted to change fundamentally. New approaches, new requirements from clients, and new decision-making processes also require consulting to adapt. Firstly, there is the rising need for data science and the threat each industry faces when big tech takes on their business. Secondly, there is the ongoing criticism that consultant do not make real impact and scandals on consultancies overcharging public institutions. Thirdly, COVID has also shown potential changes to the profession, meaning fewer flights and more digital work.

These are just a few trends, you might want to examine. There are many more influences that you should collect and analyze. Write and visualize an outlook for the consulting industry in general or how consulting companies can adapt to certain pressures and client expectations. For example, in the form of a scenario analysis.

The Chair for Strategy and Organization is focussed on doing research with impact. This means we do not want to repeat old ideas and base our research solely on the research people did 10 years ago. Instead, we currently research topics that will shape the future. Topics such as Agile Organizations and Digital Disruption, Blockchain Technology , Creativity and Innovation , Digital Transformation and Business Model Innovation , Diversity , Education: Education Technology and Performance Management , HRTech, Leadership and Teams . We want to always be early in noticing trends, technologies, strategies and organizations that shape the future.

To make this possible, we provide in-class and digital language courses that are adapted to each student’s level during the three years of the programme. Moreover, starting from the second semester of the second year, some courses in Madrid and Paris will be taught in Spanish and French respectively.

The Bachelor thesis is a further opportunity for students to enhance the learning and skills gained from the programme and deepen both knowledge and understanding of their chosen field in management.

Each thesis project is supervised and guided by a member of the Faculty or expert in the relevant field. The thesis can be written in English, German, French, Italian or Spanish, and is guided by faculty in Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris and Turin - again reflecting the international dimension of the programme

Patricia Madej (Germany/Ukraine) – Bachelor in Management (BSc) - ESCP

Patricia Madej ( Germany/Ukraine ) Track: London - Madrid - Paris

" My studies at ESCP helped me find in which direction I wanted to go for my professional career, something I did not know back when I finished High School. Through internships, my interest in Finance became apparent, so I decided to do an Apprenticeship at a Fund Management Company in Paris. "

Graduate Students 2023

Internships and social impact projects.

Internships and Social Impact Projects are a crucial component of the BSc programme and are highly valued by potential employers.

Internships

Securing an internship during (or a job after) university is becoming increasingly competitive.

Thanks to ESCP’s strong links with the corporate world, students are offered internships across a range of sectors, including Marketing & Communications, Banking & Finance, Consulting, Food & Beverage, Luxury Brands, E-commerce & IT, Automotive, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Energy & Chemicals, and NGOs.

Recruitment processes are constantly evolving, focusing less on technical knowledge and more on assessing the applicant’s ability to work in a team, their analytical thinking, organisational skills and leadership potential.

For this reason, the BSc curriculum offers a number of personal or “soft” skills workshops to address areas such as presentation techniques and communication competencies.

Laurent Hoegl-Roy (Switzerland/France/Germany) – Bachelor in Management (BSc) - ESCP

Laurent Hoegl-Roy ( Switzerland/France/Germany ) Track: London - Paris - Berlin

" During my first year as a Bachelor in Management student I managed to land an internship with Airbus! I felt well- prepared for my interviews thanks to the Careers Service, and ultimately I was selected to do an internship at Airbus Defence and Space in Lean Management and Process Optimisation. My internship was even better than I imagined it; I not only gained some new skills, but I also learned a lot about the industry. "

Social Impact Projects

Instead of the second-year Internship, students can opt to complete a Social Impact Project, particularly relevant for students interested in future work with not- for-profit organisations.

Students are encouraged to reflect upon pressing social problems, and focus on the growing realisation that sustainable social impact can best be achieved by applying creative management solutions.

Apprenticeship Track (Third Year Paris Campus Only)

For their third year on the Paris campus, students can apply for the 12 month-apprenticeship track, the ideal way to combine study and professional experience. The apprenticeship track combines in-company work experience with academic coursework at ESCP. Apprenticeships are available in companies registered under French law, for all students (EU students and non-EU students) aged under 30 and who are fluent in French.

Why choose the Apprenticeship Track?

  • You work in a company and become deeply involved in day-to-day business.
  • You exercise day-to-day responsibilities under the guidance of a senior manager, with the support of a tutor.
  • You benefit from school fee exemption and a monthly salary from your company over the full period of the contract.

The Careers Centre hosts a range of events for students each year to help them define and refine their career plans, obtain valuable information, and learn about different job opportunities internationally.

Careers Events

These events include:

  • Career workshops
  • Company presentations, seminars, conferences, roundtables and interviews with recruiters
  • On-campus general and industry-specific job fairs attracting over 130 companies throughout the year
  • Bootcamps on Consulting, Banking, Tech and Marketing led by ESCP Alumni on how to be recruited by the leading companies in these sectors

Building relationships and networks is essential. The ESCP Alumni Association, through its 80,000+ active alumni in 190 countries, will help you build strong connections and gain valuable insight into companies and recruiters around the world. Our Alumni are involved with the Careers Service by attending career and networking events, and offering mentorships, company presentations and industry bootcamps.

How to choose a thesis topic

  • Fear of failure
  • Perfectionism
  • Procrastination
  • Relationship with your supervisor
  • Stress Management
  • Time Management
  • Writer’s block
  • Thesis bookshelf

Criteria to help you decide

Choose a topic you like.

This may be the most important criteria. It is often not an easy decision and requires time you have to invest in order to decide on your topic. Your (quality of) life will be much better if the hours spend on your project are spent enjoyably. What’s more, the quality of your research, writing, and arguments will be much better if you feel a genuine passion for your work. Choose a topic you find both fascinating and significant.

Seek feedback

Discuss your ideas with peers and others, make your ideas explicit and seek feedback. Know that the thesis is a major project, but it isn’t your life’s research. Adequate feedback should help you narrow down your topic to realistic proportions.

Consider your future career

Select a topic that will be helpful in your career path. If your goal is an academic career, pick a topic that you can easily modify into journal articles and maybe lends itself well to future research. If you are going into industry, choose a topic that will make you more marketable.

Select a manageable topic

Use the expertise you have gained in you study and avoid exploring a completely new idea. Do your research and find a topic that fits into existing bodies of literature, but that builds upon theory and expands it. In doing so make sure this topic has not been done before. Finally; think carefully before you choose a controversial topic, think carefully about whether it might restrict your employment, tenure, or publishing opportunities.

Theoretical background

A simplified but very usable technique based on this theory consists of listing the advantages and disadvantages of each option. The list will result in a T-model in which you indicate all the positive points of an alternative on the left side and all the negative points on the right side. Subsequently, you value each aspect by grading it with a number. Eventually, you count the numbers together for the two lists and you will see directly whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Questions to ask yourself

  • What are my major interests?
  • What major personal experience relative to my discipline do I have?
  • What courses were most exciting?
  • What theories and concepts are interesting?
  • What do I want to avoid?
  • What data do I need?
  • What research methods do I like?
  • What are my career goals? (Articulate and answer your individual questions too.)

Otto Taborsky model

The following model by Otto Taborsky displays stages you should go through while choosing your thesis topic.

  • Realise you have to choose
  • Accept the uncertainty of the decision you will have to make
  • Freely explore
  • Make a decision
  • Execution of your decision

Bachelor thesis.

The Bachelor Thesis Project ( MBLS-399 ) is considered to be the capstone project of your study where you will put all acquired academic skills to the test. Most students do their Bachelor Thesis Project at the end of their programme, but you are allowed to start in any other period as soon as you have obtained 120 ECs, and have passed all MBLS mandatory courses.

What is asked of you:

  • You will be embedded in the research environment of your first examiner to execute your bachelor thesis project.
  • You collect and critically read scientific literature on a specific topic, conduct experiments to answer a research question, interpret experimental data, draw conclusions, propose new experiments, and communicate your findings to others.
  • You will experience how it is to do research and to be part of a research group.

1) Find your own Bachelor Thesis Project

You as a student are responsible to find a Bachelor Thesis Project by contacting group leaders from research groups to inquire about the internship possibilities.

To find the bachelor thesis project of your liking we suggest you ask yourself these questions:

  • Which topic in modern-day Life Sciences inspires me the most?
  • Which course and researcher/teacher inspired me?
  • Which research and research environments fits best with one of the four MBLS profile I like the most?
  • Which Master’s programme would I like to pursue and/or which career perspective do I ambition?
  • Visit the U.L.S.V. Amino sessions to get informed about the research labs and internship positions.
  • What did my tutor advise me? Remember that your tutor is your personal coach. Make use of this!

It also helps to browse websites of our own research institutes and labs closely linked to MBLS, but also other research facilities on our Utrecht Science Park , and research labs elsewhere in the Netherlands, or even abroad. Below we provide several links which can help in your search.

Research facilities on the Utrecht Science Park closely linked to MBLS:

  • Science 4 Life
  • Institute of Biodynamics & Biocomplexity
  • Bijvoet Centre for Biomolecular Research
  • Institute of Environmental Biology
  • Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Experimental (bio)physics groups within the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials
  • Research groups in the Life Sciences at the University Medical Center Utrecht

2) Look at the format MBLS Bachelor Thesis Project

An mbls thesis project is 15 ec (10 wks, full-time) and should include:.

  • The project should lie within the scope of Molecular Life Sciences.
  • The Bachelor Thesis Project can be done at the Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, or Faculty of Veterinary Medicine ( internal project ), but also outside the UU at another university in the Netherlands or abroad or even in a Biotech / pharmaceutical company ( external project ).
  • You conduct the bachelor thesis project individually*
  • 5-7 weeks of practical research work, which can be done in a laboratory, but also in the bioinformatics / data sciences.
  • 3-5 weeks of reading/writing/(literature) analysis
  • A single report formatted as a research paper. A literature study can be part of the thesis project (this is the standard at biology). If this is the case, it should address a question that is closely related to the research topic and be integrated into the text of the report ( e.g as extended introduction)
  • A final presentation in the research group of about 15-20 min including discussion.
  • Your grades are determined by your first examiner / supervisor, and the second examiner (only the writing part), who will be appointed by the MBLS BachelorThesis Coordinator.
  • The final grade is the weighted average of the practical work (50%), report (40%), and presentation (10%). In order to pass all partial grades should be ≥ 5.5.

*Depending on the capacity of certain research groups within the Biology Department or when you apply for a project within a Research Hub (Biotechnology Hub and/or Biomedical Research Project) it may be that you work together in a small groups of students on a similar project (max 3, preferably 2), but are still guided by one supervisor. However, each individual student addresses an individual research question and delivers an written report and/or literature thesis.

3) Apply for a bachelor research project

Once you have found an internship, you start the application procedure. The group leader, who is a faculty staff member ( Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor ) will be your first examiner and supervisor . Make sure to inform them about the MBLS Thesis format (see below), which is also on the cover page of the application form.

Follow these steps:

  • Download the application form [Word file] and together with the first examiner fill in all required fields.
  • You as a student send the application form as a word file to [email protected] .
  • The MBLS thesis coordinator reviews the application form and the topic that will be investigated for final approval.
  • Once the application is approved, the MBLS thesis coordinator assigns a second examiner, adds this second examiner to the application form, and initiates the signing procedure for all parties using the Valid Sign app.
  • Once the application form is signed, the MBLS thesis coordinator informs all parties by email and requests the MBLS student desk to register the student for the MBLS-399 course (Bachelor Thesis Project) in Osiris.

4) Finalize and assess the Bachelor Thesis project

Once your first examiner agreed with the final version of your report, the assessment procedure (see steps below) starts.

  • After approval from  your first examiner, send the final version of your report in one email to first examiner and second examiner (check your application form), and include Bachelor Thesis coordinator [email protected] in cc.
  • Make sure your first examiner has all the necessary forms to finalise the bachelor thesis project; assessment form first-examiner [Word file]; rubrics to provide feedback [pdf]; and if needed instructions for the plagiarism check in Urkund .
  • The first examiner and second examiner need to send their assessment form to the bachelor thesis coordinator [email protected] .
  • The Bachelor thesis coordinator will coordinate the signing of the final assessment (by the first and second examiner), will inform all parties (student, first and second examiner, student desk) about the completion of the bachelor thesis, and will add the final grade in Osiris.
  • ESPECIALLY FOR PERIOD 4: FRIDAY 16 th AUGUST 2024 IS THE FINAL DATE TO SUBMIT THE BACHELOR THESIS GRADE IN OSIRIS IN ORDER TO GRADUATE BEFORE AUGUST 31 st 2024!
  • To graduate during the remainder of the year, student desk performs graduation checks every month around the 15 th . When your bachelor thesis grade (or from another course) is registered in Osiris before the 15 th , you will officially graduate by the end of that month.
  • The upcoming MBLS graduation ceremonies are on Thursday 26 th September 2024, and Thursday 13 th March 2025

Download the Rubrics

It is recommended to download the Rubrics [pdf] of the Bachelor Thesis Project at the start of your project to learn what is expected from you. We also recommend to organise an informal midterm meeting with your first examiner about your progress and your functioning. You can use the Rubrics as a guideline for this meeting. During the project make sure you adhere to the timelines and deadlines you agreed upon with your first supervisor.

Remember, your bachelor thesis project is in principle 15 EC,  so the 10 weeks include the research, the report writing, and your final presentation.

Management Consulting Survey for graduates (Bachelor thesis)

Hello Reddit!

Please answer my survey if you have graduated university between 2018 and 2023 and work at a management consulting company (such as EY, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, BCG, McKinsey & Co etc...)

I am currently writing my bachelor thesis on corporate culture and the effect it has on work-life balance. The study focuses on graduates who are in their first years of employment at a management consulting company. This study aims to understand the intense work environment of management consulting and the unique company culture that compels so many young graduates to work for them.

The study is part of my bachelor thesis for the Human Resources program at Lund University (Sweden). The bachelor thesis will later be published through Lund University Publications Student Papers. The survey should take about 10-15 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous! I would be very grateful for any answers as I need all the data I can get!

Thank you very much for your time!

- Bocconi University Dissertations (Online) , all dissertations discussed at Bocconi University since 1977, divided between Dissertations 1988-2000 and Dissertations 2000- . Within each group you will find two boxes, one for the theses for which the author has authorized consultation ( Authorized Dissertations ), another for those for which consultation has not been authorized ( Unauthorized Dissertations ). In the latter case you will be able to see details about the dissertations (title, author, advisor, year), but not read the content.

- Bocconi University Historical Dissertations , that contains the texts of all the theses discussed at the University from 1906 to 1977. The dissertations are displayed according to a timeline that accompanies significant moments in the history of the University and its community. Historical dissertations are undergoing an important process of restoration and digitization for preservation purposes. This project is currently in progress and has been made possible thanks to the support of generous donors.

How do I search for a dissertation? Use the search bar in each section or scroll through the titles and choose the ones that interest you most. Either way, we suggest you to start with the sign in. You can also search for dissertations in SearchLib by author (student name or supervisor name), title or keywords within the title, but you will only be able to read dissertations for which the author has given permission for consultation. We suggest you to consult the Libguide Consulting Dissertations to best set up your research strategies.

Can I read dissertations in the Library?  Sure! Theses can be consulted in the Library from the dedicated workstations, which are located on the Library ground floor.

What if I am off campus?  If you are a student or Faculty member, you can consult the theses even when you are off campus at any time. Simply sign in and ... enjoy your reading!
