The Art track of the Fine Arts Doctoral Program centers on art praxis, which we define as theoretically informed action aimed at creating change in academic, social, and community contexts. We have chosen the word "praxis" instead of "practice" to signal a different relationship to theory than assumed by the theory-practice binary, and to indicate a fundamental difference between MFA programs in studio practice and the PhD. For Aristotle, praxis meant an action that is valuable in itself, as opposed to that which leads to creation, and for scholars of modernity from Marx to Lefebvre, praxis was, and remains, infused with an ethical and political imperative, and designated a more grounded and intentional mode of social and political transformation.

The Art track is part of a College-wide Fine Arts Doctoral Program , which includes students focusing on music, theatre, dance, and visual art. All areas of the Fine Arts Doctoral Program require a series of core courses that bring together students from across the College for innovative interdisciplinary and collaborative inquiry. These core courses support the art area's commitment to blurring disciplinary boundaries through original modes of investigation.

Students conduct interdisciplinary research integrating methodologies from a home discipline related to Art with methodologies from disciplines of Music, Theatre, and Dance housed at other Schools in the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts or the University at large. Such interdisciplinarity is not simply additive, but transformative, blurring the chosen disciplines and even fundamentally altering them.

This program is for

• studio artists who want to transform their approach to making into a methodology for research,
• scholars who want to intervene in their home discipline by proposing novel ways of conducting research,
• curators and cultural practitioners who want to do community-engaged projects, and
• educators who want to rethink inquiry and develop meaningful practices organized around art and images that transform engagement through interdisciplinary initiatives.

How to apply.

Interested candidates applying for admission to the Fine Arts Doctoral Program for Fall 2023 can do so through the Texas Tech University Graduate School portal.

A complete application - via the Graduate School application portal - will include the following:

• Official transcripts of all previous college-level study
• Official G.R.E. score report (The GRE score requirement has been waived for Fall 2024-entering applicants)
• 3 letters of recommendation
• Current resumé or curriculum vitae
• A scholarly writing sample (10-30 pages of academic writing)
• Art portfolio (optional)
• Statement of intent (800 words maximum; see tips on writing statements of intent). Please indicate in your statement the faculty members in the FADP(Art) program (see below) with whom you would like to work.
• For international students: passport and additional documents that prove your eligibility to study in the United States
• Registration fee

ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS

For acceptance into the doctoral program, the applicant must have completed a master's degree, or its equivalent, with emphasis in some area of the visual arts. Every effort is made to select candidates who show strong scholarship and professional competence.  Applicants who have not taken at least 15 hours of art history, art criticism, art education, arts administration, aesthetics, and/or visual culture courses at the college level may be required to meet the 15-hour minimum in the form of leveling courses taken here at TTU, which will not count toward the 60-hour minimum in the doctoral degree plan.

While the Fine Arts Doctoral Program (Art) takes applications year-round, please take into consideration the following dates:

Edinburgh College of Art PhD Scholarships

Edinburgh College of Art is delighted to announce its next round of scholarships to applicants for PhD programmes in our five Schools: School of Art; School of Design; ESALA (Architecture and Landscape Architecture); History of Art; and the Reid School of Music.

Our Schools offer a rich and vibrant postgraduate research community with a broad range of academic research interests. ECA is proud of its world-leading research, which stretches across and beyond the disciplines of its five Schools covering Architecture and Landscape Architecture, Art, Design, History of Art, and Music.  

Applications are invited for research projects that take advantage of the leading research expertise across the ECA Schools. ECA will aim to provide a supervisory team which will consist of at least two supervisors. Applicants may indicate potential supervisors in their application.  

Scholarship award holders are expected to be energetic members of our postgraduate community, and engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award. We offer our postgraduates a range of training and development opportunities appropriate to their programme of study .

The scholarship award provides full tuition fees (Home or Overseas level) with an annual stipend for three years full-time or six years part-time study pro rata. The stipend will be set to the UKRI level for 2024-25. The UKRI level for 2023-24 is currently £18,622 for full-time students, or the pro rata equivalent for part-time students.

Eligibility

Applications are open to new PhD students (Home and Overseas fee status) commencing study in September 2024 (full-time and part-time study). On campus and PhD by Distance applicants are eligible to apply.

If wishing to commence a new programme of study in September 2024 you must ensure that you have fully completed and submitted your PhD programme application for admission using the University's online system by no later than    18th  January 2024 .

Applicants must have submitted their fully completed PhD programme application in order to be considered for the scholarship.

This is the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH) assessment criteria for AHRC SGSAH PhD Studentships.  The ECA Selection Panel will meet in late March 2024 to review the scholarship applications.  All scholarship applicants will be contacted with the outcome by mid- April 2024.

Please note: if successful in obtaining funding from any other University of Edinburgh or Research Council funding source, recipients of the ECA PhD Scholarship must relinquish their ECA PhD Scholarship.

There are five categories (creative writing, dance, music, theater, and visual art scholarships), each requiring an original submission.

Against The Grain Artistic Scholarship

Deadline: May 31, 2022 Amount: $1,000 This communications and art scholarship is open to Asian-American college students (at least 50% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity) pursuing a major in performing arts, visual arts, journalism, or mass communications. The recipient must be either a high school senior or a full-time college student at a U.S. vocational school, junior college, or college/university, and must be a full-time, degree-seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year.

AIGA Worldstudio Scholarships

Deadline: TBD Amount: Up to $6,000 These scholarships for artists go to students studying fine art, graphic design, illustration, or photography, and who have at least a 2.0 GPA. Applicants must display financial needs and submit a portfolio of original work. Minority status is a significant factor in award decisions.

Catherine W. Pierce Scholarship

Deadline: May 19, 2022 Amount: Up to $3,600 This scholarship for the arts is open to college students majoring in art or art history. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or over. The application includes a one-page essay.

CBC Spouses Visual Art and Performing Art Scholarships

Deadline: January 2022 Amount: Varies This broad arts scholarship is open to African-American or black students majoring in the visual arts (architecture, ceramics, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, video production, etc.), or in the performing arts (theater, drama, comedy, music, dance, opera, marching bands, etc.). Students must be or plan to be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program.

Deadline: TBD Amount: Varies One of the few art graduate school scholarships, this option is open to both undergraduate or graduate students in a BFA, BA in Studio Art, MFA, or BA/MA in Music program at an accredited college or university. The art scholarship portion of the fund is limited to those studying painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, or printmaking. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required.

Dorian De Long Arts & Music Scholarship

Deadline: March 1, 2022 Amount: $1,500 to $2,000 This art scholarship is open to graduating high school students who intend to pursue advanced education in the study of arts and will be majoring or minoring in either the visual or performing arts.

Esther Kanagawa Memorial Art Scholarship

Deadline: February 15, 2022 Amount: Varies Open to current high school seniors living in Hawaii who plan to major in fine arts at an accredited college or university. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher and demonstrate financial need.

Florence Lemcke Memorial Scholarship in Fine Arts

Deadline: April 25, 2021 Amount: $1,000 Open to graduating high school seniors in Washington State who are studying the fine arts (painting, drawing, photography, literature, architecture, sculpture, poetry, music, dance, or drama). Applicants must also be the child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a veteran.

Gold Grant Scholarship Award

Deadline: TBD Amount: $2,000 This art scholarship is open to full-time undergrad art majors, including graduating college seniors, enrolled in a community college or university in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho. Students must submit an application that includes five examples of their best work in non-digital 2D media, a letter of recommendation from a faculty member, an artist’s statement, and a biography.

Iowa Scholarship for the Arts

Deadline: April 1, 2022 Amount: $1,500 This fine arts scholarship is open to high school seniors residing in Iowa. Students must also be accepted to an Iowa college or university, and plan to major in fine arts.

Jay Franke Scholarship

Deadline: April 15, 2022 Amount: $4,000 Incoming freshmen with Type 1 diabetes who are pursuing a degree in music, theater, or dance can apply for this art scholarship.

Lois Livingston McMillen Fund

Deadline: March 15, 2022 Amount: $500 to $4,000 Open to women from Connecticut studying fine arts, with preference given to those studying painting or design.

Lyly Koenig Mendez Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: June 30, 2021 Amount: $1,000 This arts scholarship is open to Asian-American (at least 50% Asian and/or Pacific Islander) students pursuing a major in fashion and/or graphic design. Students must be full-time high school seniors or college students and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must also demonstrate community and extracurricular involvement.

Ritchie M. Gregory Fund

Deadline: January 31, 2022 Amount: Varies Open to college or university students and current Hawaii residents who are majoring in art and have a GPA of at least 2.7. Awards are given based on academic achievement, character, and financial need.

Sub Pop Loser Scholarship

Deadline: March 24, 2021 Amount: $3,000 to $7,000 Arguably the hippest art scholarship on this list, the Loser Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors living in Washington and Oregon who are on their way to full-time enrollment in university or college (though they need not necessarily be studying art). Applicants must write an essay about their involvement in their local art or music scene. Copies of their artwork, photos of community involvement, videos, etc. are also encouraged.

Zinggia Art Scholarship

Lucie Foundation Emerging Scholarships

Deadline: September 15, 2021 Amount: $1,000-$2,500 This photography scholarship is open to photographers 18 years and older worldwide who are enrolled as a student; in the first five years of their photography career; or do not earn the majority of their income from photography. Applicants must submit a project outline detailing how the scholarship money will be spent, as well as a selection of digital images.

National Press Photographers Foundation Scholarships

Deadline: TBD Amount: $2,000 Open to students enrolled full-time in an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. or Canada who show an aptitude for photojournalism. Students must demonstrate financial need and be able to use the scholarship at the beginning of the following semester.

Deadline: Multiple deadlines throughout the year Amount: $2,000 Open to dancers who have had a performing dance career for at least seven years (does not have to be consecutive), have gained 100 weeks or more of paid dance employment in the US, and have garnered total gross earnings of $56,000 or more over the course of the previous seven years.

Mary Benevento/CTAHPERD Scholarship

Deadline: June 15, 2022 Amount: $1,000 Open to high school seniors from Connecticut who plan to major in dance (or another physical/health education field) at a Connecticut college or university. Students will be judged based on academic ability, professional competence, and future career potential.

NYCDA Foundation College Scholarship Program

Deadline: July 6, 2021 Amount: $5,000 to $160,000 (most awards are between $5,000 and $25,000) This dance scholarship is open to applicants who have recently completed their junior or senior year of high school. Applicants must attend an audition and submit a letter of recommendation from a dance instructor. Scholarships last for four years of college.

Graphic Design Scholarships

Deadline: May 1, 2022 Amount: $2,000 Open to students pursuing a career within the document management and graphic communication industry. Applicants for the graphic design scholarship must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be a full-time student attending an accredited college or university for the upcoming fall semester.

Cheryl Lynn Rutledge Northern Indigenous Student Award

Deadline: May 1, 2021 Amount: $1,000 This graphic design scholarship is open to Indigenous students (with preference given to those from Yukon, Nunavut or NWT) pursuing full-time education in graphic or communication design at a Canadian college or university. Applicants must be a member of Graphic Designers of Canada, and must provide portfolio samples and a brief essay.

GDC Foundation Ray Hrynkow Scholarship

Deadline: May 1, 2021 Amount: $1,000 Another offering from Graphic Designers of Canada, this design scholarship is open to students entering the third or fourth year of a four-year undergraduate communication/graphic design program in Canada. Applicants must be a member of Graphic Designers of Canada. Applications must include a design project demonstrating problem-solving through communication design.

TLMI Four Year College Degree Scholarship

Deadline: TBD Amount: $5,000 Open to college juniors and seniors who are majoring in graphic arts, graphic design, or a different major, and who are interested in a career in the tag and label industry. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, supply three personal references, and submit an essay.

Film Scholarships

Francis d. lyon scholarship.

Deadline: March 1, 2022 Amount: $3,000 This film scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who have completed two full years of college by June 30 of the year the scholarship is being awarded. Awards are given based on evidence of talent (work samples are encouraged), academic excellence, and financial need.

UFVF/KODAK Student Scholarship Program

Deadline: TBD Amount: $2,000 to $5,000 This film scholarship, sponsored by film giant Kodak, is open to graduate or undergraduate university/college students in a number of countries worldwide. Prizes are awarded in filmmaking and cinematography.

Drawing Scholarships

Animation Scholarships

Deadline: TBD Amount: $5,000 Yep, that Mister Rogers. This scholarship, created in honor of TV personality Fred Rogers, is open to graduate students (Masters or Ph.D), or those about to enter graduate school, who are pursuing a career in children’s media, including animation. (This scholarship is based on project proposals, and may not be used for tuition.)

Randy Pausch Scholarship Fund

Deadline: May 31, 2021 Amount: $2,500 Open to students pursuing careers specializing in interactive entertainment, including art, animation, programming, engineering, game direction, game design, sound design, and music composition. Students must have a minimum 3.3 GPA and be either full-time undergraduate students starting their second year or graduate student.

Women In Animation Scholarship

Deadline: TBD Amount: $1,000 Open to female-identified, full-time students at an accredited school within North America that offers courses in animation. Students must be a member of Women In Animation, have a GPA of 2.85 or higher, and submit a portfolio of original work.

Performing Arts Scholarships

Deadline: March 1, 2021 Amount: Varies This performing arts scholarship is open to active student/individual members of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) studying performing arts. Up to 30 scholarships are awarded annually.

Donna Reed Performing Arts Scholarship

Deadline: July 30, 2021 Amount: Up to $1,000 This scholarship for the arts is open to performing arts students in Iowa. Applicants must submit a video audition, headshot, and a letter of recommendation from a drama educator to apply.

Educational Theatre Association Thespian Scholarships

Deadline: Depending on the scholarship Amount: $500 to $4,000 This group of performing art scholarships is open to students at various levels of theater study (from graduating high school senior to college senior).

Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship

Deadline: TBD Amount: $500 to $3,000 Open to student performers wishing to pursue further education and professional development. This theater scholarship offers roughly 16 regional awards ($500 each); select recipients are invited to take week-long, expenses-paid trips to Washington, D.C. for courses, and to present their scholarship audition to a panel. The top two will receive $2,500 scholarships.

Fashion Design Scholarships

Deadline: January 7, 2022 Amount: Up to $3,000 (renewable) This fashion design scholarship is open to students who are studying design with a focus on footwear. Applicants must be enrolled or be about to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school. Applications must include three design drawings and will be screened based on design potential and financial need.

Interior Design Scholarships

Asid foundation legacy scholarships.

Deadline: Spring 2021 Amount: $4,000 This interior design scholarship features separate prizes for undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants are asked to submit portfolios and letters of recommendation; the graduate scholarship also requires an essay. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic accomplishment and creative achievement.

Bienenstock Furniture and Interior Design Competition

Deadline: TBD Amount: $1,500 to $5,000 Open to junior, senior, or graduate students enrolled in an accredited college design program in the United States. Separate prizes are awarded for interior design and furniture design.

David Barrett Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Fall 2021 Amount: $12,000 This interior design scholarship, open to undergraduate and graduate students, recognizes those who “demonstrate an interest and ability in utilizing classical designs and traditional materials, including furniture and fabrics”. Applications must feature a portfolio and accompanying portfolio statement, a statement of your career goals, and a letter of recommendation.

IFDA Student Membership Scholarship

Deadline: March 31, 2022 Amount: $2,000 This design scholarship is open to students majoring in interior design or a related design/furnishing program, with extra consideration given to students who have volunteered in their community and shown leadership potential. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a current IFDA Professional Member, an essay, and two to three examples of design work.

Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award

Deadline: Spring 2021 Amount: Up to $5,000 This design scholarship is open to undergraduate or graduate students. Applicants must submit a research or thesis project that deals with wellness and design. Entries will be judged on the quality of content, breadth of material, comprehensive coverage of topic, innovative subject matter, bibliography, and references.

Kansas City IFMA Scholarship

Deadline: TBD Amount: $500 and up Open to students majoring in interior design, architecture, or a field related to facility management. Applicants must be enrolled in a Kansas or Missouri college or university, and are asked to include a letter of professional intent, two recommendation letters, evidence of extracurriculars, and proof of GPA with their application.

Robert W. Thunen Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2021 Amount: $1,000 to $5,000 Here’s an illuminating design scholarship: This award is open to full-time students (undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate students) hoping to pursue a career in lighting. Students must be attending an accredited four-year college or university in Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, or Washington. The scholarship covers all fields of lighting, including interior design and theater lighting.

Ruth Clark Furniture Design Scholarship

Deadline: TBD Amount: $3,000 Open to students majoring in interior design or a related design/furnishing program. Extra consideration is given to students who have volunteered and show leadership potential. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation, an essay, and five different examples of original furniture designs.

Wendy Jackson Hall Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: December 2021 Amount: $15,000 This one is for graduating high school seniors from a Washington State public high school who have been accepted into the art program of an accredited four-year U.S. college or university and intend to enroll as a full-time student the following year. Applicants must demonstrate talent in the visual arts, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and show financial need.

Whether you are a student, entrepreneur, or experienced artist, we want to support you.

A scholarship is a gift offered to someone (generally a student) worth money or other support, that does not have to be repaid. It typically covers tuition, books, and other expenses during the time the student is studying at school. Some scholarships not only offer monetary aid but also funding for living and travel expenses as well. Scholarships are awarded based on merit or financial need. 

Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are given to students who meet certain criteria set out by the scholarship program; usually, the criteria are based on academic performance or some other form of achievement. Merit scholarships can be awarded based on grades, test scores, leadership, athletic ability, or community service.

Financial need is typically determined by the student’s family income and assets. Financial need is calculated by subtracting an applicant’s estimated expenses for tuition, room and board, supplies, books, and miscellaneous expenses from the applicant’s expected family contribution (EFC) (which is determined by calculating the total income of both parents and subtracting certain allowances).

The scholarships featured below are offered exclusively on The Art Career Project. With these scholarships and others like them, you can greatly reduce the cost of your degree.

A scholarship is a type of financial aid that is awarded to an individual on the basis of ability, achievement, or merit. It is usually given without requiring repayment. In the United States, there are more than 20 million Americans who borrow money to pay for college. However, there are scholarships available for artists and creative professionals with exceptional talents in certain fields such as visual arts, music, and dance. To earn a scholarship for art, you should apply to as many programs as you can that award scholarships to top-performing artists and creative students. There are also many scholarships available for minorities, women, and religious groups.

Is art school expensive? – Yes, it can be! The cost of higher education has reached an all-time high. Education costs are rising every year, putting pressure on parents, students, and anyone who is interested in pursuing a higher education degree at the collegiate level. Thousands of students enroll in college with hopes of improving their lives and finding better jobs. Many of them attend schools that are at the top of the list in terms of cost. Art schools are no exception to this rule. But, there are many ways to reduce the cost associated with an art degree.

A scholarship is an award of financial aid available to a student on the basis of academic merit, need, or talent, that does not have to be repaid. There are many different types of scholarships: some awards for academic achievement, others based on membership in certain organizations, or leadership ability. Most scholarships provide monetary assistance for school costs, but there are also other types of financial aid that may be available in addition to the scholarship and in some cases, a scholarship award can be deducted from your financial need. Be sure to research all your options before accepting a scholarship and think about what costs you could cover on your own.

Graduate Scholarship

Academy of Art University is pleased to announce the 2022 Graduate Scholarship for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters, which offers a limited number of awards worth up to $2,000 each to assist prospective graduate students. Students who need to build their art and design portfolio or improve their career options should take advantage of this amazing scholarship opportunity. To be eligible graduate students must also complete an application and have a portfolio submission on file.

Award information.

• Current students at Academy of Art University, please review your scholarship opportunities today here .
• The Graduate Scholarship will be open from November 8, 2021 to August 15, 2022.
• A limited number of scholarship awards are available (up to $2,000). These funds can only be used to help pay for the recipient’s educational costs during their second full semester.
• A selection committee will determine the amount of each scholarship awarded based on a short essay submission and the recipient’s official portfolio submission through the graduate program.
• Recipients are responsible for the application and registration fees. Any additional costs and fees are the recipient’s responsibility.
• Scholarships are for the recipient only, are not redeemable for cash, and are not transferable to any other person or semester.

Complete Eligibility Requirements

• The monthly submission deadlines for the essay submission will be 11:59 PM on the 15th of each month until funds are no longer available.
• Recipients must apply and meet all eligibility requirements by the dates defined within the program.
• Recipients must submit all application materials, including those listed in the portfolio guidelines to be eligible. Portfolio work will be factored into the award amount.
• Recipients must be a first-time enrolled graduate student at Academy of Art University beginning in Spring, Summer, or Fall semester 2022.
• Recipients must be graduate-level degree-seeking (MA, MFA, MArch, MAT) students. Personal Enrichment students, Online Award of Completion students, and students earning a Certificate are not eligible for this scholarship.
• Recipients must be a US citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
• Recipients who, for any reason, are unable to maintain the requirements of this program are no longer eligible for future scholarships under this program.
• The recipient must be an applicant or registered student for either Spring, Summer or Fall 2022 at the monthly scholarship deadline to be eligible for that particular award amount. If the recipient is not a registered student by the aforementioned deadline then their submission will be rolled over to the following month until the scholarship award period is completed or the Graduate Scholarship is out of funds (whichever comes first).
• If a recipient cancels his or her application or registration, their full award amount will be relinquished and reallocated to other eligible recipients.
• The recipient (online, on-site, and hybrid) must still be enrolled in at least 2 classes (6 units) by the published semester start date, and must successfully earn a semester GPA of 2.0 or greater with a minimum of 6 units completed.
• The recipient must also be enrolled in at least 2 classes (6 units) by the subsequent semester registration deadline to be awarded the scholarship.

People are always saying that art doesn’t pay. Fortunately, they aren’t always right! Prospective art students will be happy to know that there are a multitude of art scholarships out there that will help pay for their education.

We have all the details on the best art scholarships below, so read on to see which scholarships are the best fit for you!

Who Should Apply for These Art Scholarships?

The following art scholarships are aimed at students who are creative and have spent time in high school developing their artistic talent. Art careers are not the easiest to pursue, so you’ll have to demonstrate a passion for your chosen art form in order to show that you have real potential.

Art scholarships can cover many different disciplines, including performing arts, fine arts, design, and more. In this list, I have covered available scholarships for the following disciplines:

• Performing arts , such as drama, film, television, and broadcasting
• Photography
• Fine arts , such as drawing, painting, and sculpture
• Video game design
• Music , including voice and instrumental
• Design, including graphic design , interior design , sound design, and industrial design

Scholarships that cover more than one area of art will be listed in each relevant category.

Though many art scholarships are specific to a particular college or university, the scholarships listed below can be used at many different schools. To earn the most money for college, you should apply to as many of these scholarships as possible and also inquire at your college about opportunities for scholarships for your particular program.

Be aware that this is not an exhaustive list of art scholarships. If you don’t see something that looks like it could be a fit for the kind of art you do, make sure you do more research about scholarships in your field. There are probably a few out there!

Also, keep in mind that most art scholarships are offered directly through universities. When you're considering applying to a school, be sure to ask about any art scholarships they might have that you'd be eligible for.

Performing Arts Scholarships

First, let's take a look at the best performing arts scholarships currently available.

Aiko Susanna Tashiro Hiratsuka Memorial Scholarship

This art scholarship is for active Student/Individual members of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). Applicants must be entering college freshmen, undergraduate, graduate, or law students; in the creative and performing arts; or demonstrating financial need.

• Deadline: March 2023 (for incoming college freshmen) and April 2023 (for all other students)
• Award Amount: Varies depending on scholarship

Archibald Rutledge Scholarship Program

South Carolina high school seniors may apply if they have attended a public high school in South Carolina for at least two years and plan to attend a college or university in South Carolina as well. There are five categories of scholarships:

• Creative writing: Any original composition utilizing any form of creative writing (including journal or diary entries, letters, memoirs, essays, poetry, storytelling, speeches, and free writing). Entry should not exceed two, double-spaced pages in length.
• Dance: A three- to six-minute original dance routine
• Music: A four- to 10-minute original composition
• Theatre: An original one-act play that is eight to 15 minutes long
• Visual arts: An original 2-D visual piece of art

Applicants are judged on creativity, originality, and quality.

• Deadline: Mid-February 2023
• Award Amount: $2,000 (five available)

Bruce Marson Memorial Scholarship

This performing arts scholarship is geared toward Fairfax County (Virginia) high school students (educated via either public school, private school, or home-schooling) who are seeking a degree in Technical Theatre Production.

• Deadline: May 2023
• Award Amount: $2,000

Case Western Reserve University Theater Scholarships

Case Western offers four full-tuition scholarships, as well as two $10,000 scholarships, for students who wish to major/minor in theater or pursue theater as an extracurricular. All students must complete an audition or present a portfolio of their work.

• Deadline: January 2023 for application packet; February 2023 for digital portfolio presentations and interviews and for in-person portfolio presentations and interviews
• Award Amount: Full tuition or $10,000

Congressional Black Caucus Spouses Performing  Arts Scholarship

To qualify, you must be a full-time undergraduate student or graduating high school senior and have a minimum 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA, and be pursuing a major and a career in the performing or visual arts. These scholarships are intended for African-American students.

• Deadline: Late April 2023
• Award Amount: Up to $5,000

Educational Theatre Association Thespian Scholarships

Each year, the Educational Theatre Association awards several scholarships to students in the performing arts. These scholarships are open to students ranging from high school sophomores all the way to college juniors! Note that some scholarships require attendance at the International Thespian Festival . Currently, there are 12 different scholarship opportunities available, and four grants to attend the International Thespian Festival.

• Deadline: April 2023, depending on scholarship

Florence Lemcke Memorial Scholarship in Fine Arts

This fine arts scholarship, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Washington, is for graduating high school seniors in Washington State who are also a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a veteran. Applicants must plan to pursue a degree in the fine arts, such as painting, drawing, photography, literature, architecture, sculpture, poetry, music, dance, or drama.

• Deadline: March 1, 2023
• Award Amount: $1,000

Georgia Thespian Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to 12 high school seniors who participate in Georgia Thespians. All auditioning students must be registered for GA Thespian Conference 2023 and pay a $25 registration fee. Award amounts are as follows:

• Gerald Ray Horne Scholarship: $2,500
• Yatesy Harvey Theatre Educator Scholarship: $2,000
• Frank Pruet & Eric Ebell Vision and Innovation Scholarship for Leadership: $2,000
• Pam Ware Leadership Scholarship: $2,000
• Linda P. Wise Performance Scholarship: $2,000
• Gene & Imelda Bell Service Scholarship: $2,000
• Dwight Gilstrap Technical Scholarship: $2,000
• Achievement Scholarships (5): $2,000

Iowa Scholarship for the Arts

This award is for high school seniors who are Iowa residents and excel in the arts. Students must be accepted to an Iowa college or university and plan to major in the fine arts, performing arts, or creative writing.

• Deadline: April 2023
• Award Amount: $3,000

Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships

This scholarship is open to high school seniors up through current graduate students. There are 16 regional awards and two national awards available. Note that the awards are not necessarily limited to education in the theatre arts.

• Award Amount: Varies from $500 up to $5,000

John L. Dales Scholarship Fund

Applicants must be active members of the Screen Actor’s Guild or children of members. Required materials include SAT/ACT scores and transcripts.

• Deadline: Late May 2023
• Award Amount: Varies

Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters Scholarships

OAB offers several scholarships to students enrolled in Oklahoma colleges or universities who are majoring in broadcasting. Students must be either juniors or seniors in college, have a minimum B average, and plan to work in broadcasting. Selection is based on students' extracurricular activities and awards, broadcast industry experience, financial need, and an essay.

• Deadline: February 3, 2023
• Award Amount: Six awards of $2,000 each

Vivian Klemz Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be in high school (generally between the ages of 14 and 19). Students must write a 10-minute script (of any genre) that incorporates the theme of disability. Note that applicants must have a disability (or, if applying as an ensemble, at least one student must have a disability).

• Deadline:  January 2023

VSA Playwright Discovery Award

Applicants must be in grades 6 through 12 (ages 11-18 for non-US students). Students must write a 10-minute script (of any genre) that incorporates the theme of disability. Note that applicants must have a disability (or, if applying as an ensemble, at least one student must have a disability).

• Deadline: Mid-March 2023 
• Award Amount: Ranges from $3,000 to $20,000

Dance Scholarships

In this section, we introduce the best dance scholarships currently available to students.

• Creative writing: An original composition (journals/diaries, poetry, letters, memoirs, essays, storytelling, etc.) that is no longer than two double-spaced pages

Jean Lee/Jeff Marvin Collegiate Scholarships

Each year, Indiana SHAPE awards six scholarships to undergraduates who are attending an Indiana college or university and are majoring in health, physical education, recreation, dance, or exercise science. Applicants are evaluated on several factors, such as their GPAs, potential as professionals, financial need, and recommendation letters.

• Deadline: January 2023
• Award Amount: Six annual $1,000 awards

Mary Benevento/CTAHPERD Scholarship

This scholarship is for high school seniors from Connecticut who plan to major in dance or another physical/health education field at a Connecticut college or university. Students will be judged based on their academic ability, professional competence, and future career potential. Applicants must submit transcripts, a 300-word essay, and a letter of recommendation.

• Deadline: June 15, 2023
• Award Amount: Up to $1,000

NYCDA Foundation College Scholarship Program

For these dance scholarships, applicants must have recently completed their junior or senior year of high school and plan to pursue a performance-based major. In addition, they must attend an audition and submit a letter of recommendation from a dance instructor. Scholarships last for four years of college.

• Deadline: July 5, 2023
• Award Amount: Ranges from $5,000 to $25,000

Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship

Applicants must be members of SHAPE America, be majoring in dance or another physical/health education field, and be college juniors or seniors with GPAs of 3.5 or above. Selection is based on academics, leadership, community service, and character.

• Deadline: October 15, 2023
• Award Amount: $1,250 for undergraduate students and $1,750 for graduate students

Photography Scholarships

Now, we'll take a look at the best photography scholarships.

AIGA Worldstudio Scholarships

These scholarships are for students studying fine art, graphic design, illustration, or photography. Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA, display financial need, and submit a portfolio of their work. Minority status is a significant factor in award decisions.

Bodie McDowell Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students who are working (or plan to work in) in outdoor communications, which includes print, photography, film, art, and/or broadcasting. Eligible students must submit examples of work and letters of recommendation. Academic achievement is considered but isn't a major deciding factor.

• Deadline : March 30, 2023
• Award Amount: Varies, but usually is between $1,000 and $5,000

Fine Arts and Writing Scholarships

Here are some of the best scholarships for those majoring in writing or the fine arts.

Against the Grain Artistic Scholarship

This scholarship is open to Asian American and/or Pacific Islander high school seniors and college students who are majoring in performing, visual arts, journalism and/or mass communications. Eligible students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• Deadline : May 31, 2023
• Award Amount : $1,000

Beall Scholarship

Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Female, 35 years old or younger
• Member of the Presbyterian Church (USA)
• Resident of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia
• Demonstrate financial need

Applicants must be pursuing graduate study in the fine arts.

• Deadline: June 30, 2023

Cynthia and Alan Baran Fine Arts and Music Scholarship Fund

Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited college or university, be taking at least six credit hours, and be enrolled in a BFA, BA in Studio Art, MFA, or BA/MA in Music program. Students must be studying painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, or printmaking. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required.

• Deadline: February/March 2023

Esther Kanagawa Memorial Art Scholarship

Applicants must be Hawaii residents and undergraduate or graduate students majoring in the fine arts at an accredited college or university. They must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher and demonstrate financial need and good character.

• Deadline: February 1, 2023

Lois Livingston McMillen Fund

This scholarship is for women from Connecticut who are studying the fine arts. Preference is given to those studying the visual arts of painting or design.

• Deadline: March 15, 2023

Video Game Design Scholarships

AIAS Foundation Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is for students of any major who intend to pursue a career in the development of interactive entertainment, such as animation, programming, and game design. Applicants must be at least sophomores in college and have a minimum 3.3 GPA.

• Deadline: May 31, 2023
• Award Amount: $2,500

WomenIn Scholarship Fund

This award is aimed toward women who want to enter the interactive entertainment industry. This scholarship is open to women pursuing or intending to pursue careers in game development or the business of interactive entertainment.

• Award Amount : $2,500

Music Scholarships

Here are some of the best music scholarships you can apply for.

AMCA Music Scholarships

The Associated Male Choruses of America sponsors scholarships for students who will be majoring in vocal music studies or instrumental music (though preference is given to the former). Applicants must be sponsored by a member chorus of the AMCA and are required to submit an application, a transcript, and three letters of recommendation.

• Deadline: March 1 each year 
• Award Amount: $1,000-$1,200

Doris & Clarence Glick Classical Music Scholarship

This scholarship, sponsored by the Hawaii Community Foundation, is for students from Hawaii who are currently attending a non-profit college in the US. Students must be majoring in music with an emphasis on classical music, demonstrate financial need, and have a 2.7 GPA or above.

• Award Amount: Varies but is approximately $1,500

Glenn Miller Scholarship Competition

Scholarships are awarded annually to both vocalists and instrumentalists and may be used for any education-related expenses. Only high school seniors and college freshmen are eligible. Applicants must submit an audition CV with two tracks of contest-level material in contrasting styles as well as an essay. Finalists will have to perform in person. 

• Deadline: Early March 2023
• Award Amount: $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place, and $1,000 for third place

The John Lennon Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to student songwriters and composers who work in contemporary musical genres like alternative, pop, rock, indie, electronica, R&B, and experimental. In order to qualify, students must be between the ages of 17 and 24, a current college student or alumnus of a U.S. university, and have not worked previously with a major record label. Applicants must submit an original song win in order to apply.

• Deadline: Spring 2023
• Award Amount: $20,000

Nellie Love Butcher Music Scholarship

This scholarship is for students pursuing an education in piano or voice. Preference is given to students of the Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts in Washington, DC. Applicants must upload their audio material as an MP3.

• Deadline: February 15 every year 
• Award Amount: One-time award of $5,000

Women Band Directors International Scholarships

Women Band Directors International offers five different scholarships for women who plan on becoming a band director. A student in any college grade level may apply, though applicants must be majoring in music (any instrumental focus is okay). The application includes two letters of recommendation and a statement about why you want to be a band director.

American Institute of Graphic Arts Honolulu Chapter Scholarship Fund

Applicants must be residents of Hawaii, be attending college in the U.S., and majoring graphic design, visual communication, or commercial arts. They must also show financial need and have a 2.7 GPA or above.

• Deadline: January 31, 2023

This scholarship is for students of any major who intend to pursue a career in the development of interactive entertainment, such as animation, programming, game design, and music composition. Applicants must be at least sophomores in college and have a minimum 3.3 GPA.

ASID Foundation Legacy Scholarships

This scholarship is open to interior design students in their junior or senior year of college. To apply, students must submit a portfolio with 8-12 work examples, a personal statement, a letter of recommendation, a portfolio statement, a transcript, and a headshot. Scholarships are awarded based on the combination of applicants' academic accomplishment, creative achievement, and personal statement.

IFDA Leaders Commemorative Scholarship

For this International Furnishings and Design Association scholarship, applicants must be majoring in interior design or a related design/furnishing program. Extra consideration is given to students who have volunteered and demonstrated leadership potential. The application requires a letter of recommendation, an essay, and two different examples of your design work.

• Deadline: March 2023

IFDA Student Membership Scholarship

For this International Furnishings and Design Association scholarship, applicants must be majoring in interior design or a related design/furnishing program. Extra consideration is given to students who have volunteered and demonstrated leadership potential. The application requires a letter of recommendation from a current IFDA Professional Member, an essay, and two to three different examples of your design work.

IIDA Student of the Year Award

This scholarship was created to recognize a student who is a member of the International Interior Design Association and who has significantly impacted his or her school’s interior design program through leadership, insight, and involvement. Applicants must be IIDA student members in good academic standing.

• Award Amount: $5,000

IIDA Wilsonart Essay Competition

This scholarship recognizes a student member of the International Interior Design Association who has taken part in a student-mentoring week and who plans to have a career in interior design. This competition encourages leadership and mentoring between students and professionals. Students must submit an essay of 500-750 words about their mentoring experience.

• Deadline: TBD (submissions open Spring 2023)

Joel Polsky Academic Achievement Award

This scholarship is sponsored by the American Society of Interior Designers and is for students who have made academic contributions to interior design and wellness through print or digital communication. Applicants are required to submit a book, blog, or video, and the project must address the needs of the public, designers, and students in regard to design theory, education, business practices, and other related topics.

Kansas City IFMA Scholarship

This scholarship is for students majoring in interior design, architecture, or a field related to facility management. They must be enrolled in a Kansas or Missouri college or university. Applicants must include a letter of professional intent, two letters of recommendation, evidence of extracurriculars, and proof of GPA. Selected students must complete an interview.

• Award Amount: $500 or more

Ruth Clark Furniture Design Scholarship

For this International Furnishings and Design Association scholarship, applicants must be majoring in interior design or a related design/furnishing program. Extra consideration is given to students who have volunteered and demonstrated leadership potential. The application requires a letter of recommendation, an essay, and five different examples of original furniture designs.

• Deadline: March 31 every year

TLMI Four Year College Degree Scholarship

This scholarship is for college juniors and seniors who are majoring in graphic arts, graphic design, or a different major, and who are interested in a career in the tag and label industry. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, two recommendations, and submit an essay.

• Deadline: May 1, 2023
• Award Amount: Up to six awards of $5,000 are given annually

At UCA we have a number of scholarships and fee discounts available to assist you with the cost of your studies.

Here you'll find everything you need to know for your level of study - read on to find out whether you could be eligible.

Please note: the scholarships on this page are applicable for the 2024/25 academic year. If you are awarded more than one UCA scholarship or bursary, you will receive the fee discount or award highest in value, as only one fee discount can be applied.

UCA Creative Scholarships

Undergraduate creative scholarships 2024/25 entry, sir ray tindle scholarship (up to three available).

• Course(s):  BA (Hons) Journalism & Communications; BA (Hons) Television Production; BA (Hons) Digital Media & Magazine Publishing
• Value: £1,500 per year for the duration of the course
• Eligibility: Applicants or current students to any of UCA’s undergraduate media or journalism courses. Applications are welcome from UK, and international students
• Selection Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need
• Application: Download and complete the  application form and return to us by the application deadline of the 31 July 2024.

Elaine Thomas Bursary for Care Leavers

• Course(s):  Applications are welcomed from those entering embarking on their first year of an Undergraduate course as well as students continuing onto subsequent years (including part time).
• Value:  £1,500 per year for the duration of the course.
• Eligibility:  To be eligible for the Elaine Thomas Bursary for Care Leavers, you should normally have been in local authority care for a period of time since reaching the age of 14 and be in care on your 16 th  birthday. Applicants should also normally be under the age of 25 when entering the University. We do however aim to be flexible and respond to individual circumstances.
• Selection Criteria:  Confirmation of status and a local authority letter of support will be required at the time of application.
• Application:  Download and complete the  application form .   Applications   can be made to the Elaine Thomas Bursary for Care Leavers all year round.

Bashir Makhoul International Excellence Scholarship

• Value: Full fee waiver for the duration of the course.
• Course(s): All applicants for any full-time course.
• Eligibility: All international students.
• Criteria: Record of academic excellence AND demonstration of financial need.

Postgraduate creative scholarships 2024/25 entry

Fee discounts for uk students, partner scholarship.

£500 bursary to all students from a partner school or college who enrol onto any undergraduate course and pay the full fee of £9,250 per academic year. For more details about this scholarship please contact out admissions team: [email protected]

Grenfell Tower Scholarship

Full fee waiver for the duration of the course offered to any Category A Grenfell survivors. To apply and for more details about this scholarship please contact our admissions team: [email protected]

UK Excellence Scholarships

UCA is offering a £1,500 fee reduction for the first year of study to one student on each full-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate (taught) courses and four students on a Postgraduate (research) course.

Every student who applies, accepts their offer and enrols for the 2024-25 academic year, will be assessed by our Programme Directors and course teams for the scholarship, which is awarded for academic and creative excellence. Information in application forms and portolio/audition work on Applicant Days are used to form shortlists and make final decisions.

Vice Chancellor PhD Studentships

The studentship package includes a fee waiver for three years’ full-time study, and a stipend (currently £18,622 for 23/24) each year for three years (or equivalent for part-time study for Home students). The studentships recognise excellence in research and are highly competitive and limited in number. Applicants whose application passes an initial review will be invited to interview. Applicants who are successful at interview and offered a place will be put forward for consideration for the Vice-Chancellor’s Studentship awards. Studentship decisions are based on the relevance of the research proposal, and performance at interview. Find out more .

Masters fee discounts

A fee discount off the first-year tuition fee is available to eligible UCA students who match the following criteria:

• A current UCA student in your final year or have graduated from UCA up to five years ago.
• The course you completed (or will complete) was a BA/BSc (Hons) degree at UCA.
• Applying to study a postgraduate degree (such as a MA, MFA, MSc, MBM, MBA, MArch) starting in 2024

The discount available depends on the grade you achieved in your undergraduate course at UCA:

• If you achieved a 2:1 and above you will receive a fee discount of £2,000
• If you achieved a 2:2 you will receive a fee discount of £1,500

You do not need to apply. The discount will automatically be deducted from your fees before you enrol. The fee discount will be split over two years for part-time courses.

To be eligible for this fee discount you will need to accept your offer by the 30 June for September entry or the 30 November for January entry. 

PhD fee discounts

For MPhil and PhD courses, the progression discount depends on the grade you achieved on your course at UCA:

Postgraduate students:

• If you achieved a Distinction you will receive a fee discount of £3,000
• If you achieved a Merit or Pass you will receive a fee discount of £2,000

Undergraduate students:

• If you achieved a first-class degree you will receive a fee discount of £2,500

This discount is off the fees of each year of the course you are progressing to and is available for graduates of all UCA undergraduate and postgraduate degrees who graduated within the previous five years of starting your research degree course. Fee discounts will be applied pro-rata for part-time studies.

To be eligible for this fee discount you will need to accept your offer by the 30 June for September entry or the 30 November for January entry.

Fee discounts for international students

We have a number of  fee discounts, also known as scholarships , available to new students from international countries who would like study with us.

Early-bird reduction

• Value:  £1,200 fee deduction for first year
• Course(s):  All full-time courses including PhD
• Eligibility:  All international students
• Criteria:  Deposit paid in full by 30th April (September start date) or October (February start date) AND first year tuition fees paid in full by the deadline of second instalment. Please see our fee regulations for additional payment options and conditions.

International Future Leaders of the Creative Industries Scholarships 

• Value:  £3,000 fee deduction for the first year 
• Course(s):  All full-time courses including PhD 
• Eligibility:  All international students 
• Criteria:  Academic and creative excellence, meet the English language requirements for direct entry to your course, deposit paid in full by 30th June (September start date) or November (February start dates) AND first year tuition fees paid in full by the deadline of second instalment. Please see our fee regulations for additional payment options and conditions.

UCA Creative Europe Scholarship

• Value:  Fee reduction to the equivalent of home student fee for duration of the course 
• Course(s):  All full-time courses including PhD (excludes International Foundation in Creative Practices)
• Eligibility:  All applicants who are a national of an EU country and a resident in the EU or UK.
• Criteria:  The scholarship will be automatically awarded if you meet all the eligibility criteria. You do not need to complete an application form.

UCA Merit Scholarship (September 2024)

• Value:  £4,500 fee deduction for the first year.
• Course(s): All full-time courses including PhD. 
• Eligibility:  All applicants who achieve 80% or higher in their entry qualification.
• For applicants from Nigeria and Ghana; £5,500 deposit paid prior to CAS issuance, and first year tuition fees paid in full by the deadline of the second instalment.
• For applicants from China; £2500 deposit paid prior to CAS issuance, and first year tuition fees paid in full by the deadline of the second instalment.
• For applicants from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei or Timor-Leste.; 50% of total first year tuition fees paid before CAS issuance and remaining 50% to be paid by end of enrolment.
• For all other applicants, the required deposit paid prior to CAS issuance and first year tuition fees paid in full by the deadline of the second instalment.
• Please see our fee regulations for additional payment options and conditions.

UCA Creative Development Scholarships (September 2024)

• Value:  £3,000 fee deduction for the first year for applicants from Nigeria, Ghana, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal or Bhutan. £4,500 fee reduction for the first year for applicants from Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei or Timor-Leste.
• Course(s):  All full-time Design programmes, Pathways and PhD for applicants from Nigeria and Ghana. For all other countries listed, all full-time courses including PhD.
• Eligibility:  All applicants who are residents of Nigeria, Ghana, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei and Timor-Leste.
• For applicants from all other countries listed; 50% of total first year tuition fees paid before CAS issuance and remaining 50% to be paid by end of enrolment.

UCA Excellence Scholarships (September 2023 onwards)

• Value:  £2,000 each year for the 2nd and 3rd years of an Undergraduate course.
• Course(s):  All full-time undergraduate courses
• Eligibility:  All international offer holders
• Criteria:   Students need to achieve 50% or above in the previous year of study. Please see our fee regulations for additional payment options and conditions.

Pathways to degree Scholarships (September 2024 onwards)

• Value:  If you received a scholarship for your Integrated International Foundation or Integrated International Pre-masters, you will receive a £3,000 fee reduction again in the following year of study.
• Course(s):  All full-time degree courses
• Criteria:  You will need to successfully complete and pass in your previous year of study. Please see our fee regulations  for additional payment options and conditions.

UCA International PhD Scholarship

• Value: £5,000 fee reduction for the 1 st year, £3,000 fee reduction for year 2 and 3.
• Course(s): All full-time PhD courses
• Eligibility: All international students
• Criteria: The scholarship will be automatically awarded if you meet all the eligibility criteria. You do not need to complete an application form.

Terms and conditions

Eligibility.

• Applicable for the stated entry points.
• The scholarship cannot be combined with any other UCA scholarship.
• Successful applicants will be expected to get involved in promotional activities.
• There are a limited number of each scholarship available and they are awarded on a first come first serve basis so long as you meet the eligibility criteria and you have been nominated by an academic.
• Scholarships are awarded based on the information provided. If any information is later found to be falsified/misleading, the scholarship may be removed if this means that an applicant no longer meets the above criteria.

How to apply

To apply for the International Future Leaders scholarship please complete the online application form . For all other scholarships listed in this section, you do not need to apply. They will be done automatically for anyone who is eligible.

We have a range of fee discounts, also known as scholarships, available to our current students from international countries who would like to continue studying with us and International alumni who graduated within the last five years.

To be eligible for a fee waiver discount under the new discount/ scholarship scheme, international applicants must have paid their deposit by the end of June .

You do not need to apply . The discount will automatically be deducted from your fees before you enrol.

Integrated Foundation to Undergraduate 

If you are progressing from the Integrated International Foundation to an undergraduate course, you can get a progression discount of £1,500 off the fees for the first year of the course you are progressing to.

For postgraduate taught courses, the progression discount depends on the grade you achieved in your undergraduate course at UCA:

• If you achieved a 2:1 and above you will receive a fee discount of £4,500
• If you achieved a 2:2 you will receive a fee discount of £3,000

This discount is off the fees of the first year of the course you are progressing to and is available for graduates of all UCA undergraduate degrees who graduated within the previous five years of starting your postgraduate course.

Pre-Masters to Masters

If you are progressing from the Integrated International Pre-Masters to an postgraduate course, you can get a progression discount of £1,500 off the fees for the first year of the course you are progressing to.

PhD and MPhil

For MPhil and PhD courses, the progression discount depends on the grade you achieved in your postgraduate course at UCA:

• If you achieved a first-class degree you will receive a fee discount of £4,500

This discount is off the fees of each year of the course you are progressing to and is available for graduates of all UCA postgraduate degrees who graduated within the previous five years of starting your research degree course.

UCA Partner Scholarships

Saïd Foundation scholarships

The Saïd Foundation awards fully-funded scholarships to outstanding individuals from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine who are looking to study for a master’s degree in the UK.

The Saïd Foundation has offered educational scholarships since 1984. This scholarships programme aims to empower people through educational opportunities and is targeted towards individuals who demonstrate the potential to become leaders and drivers of change within our target countries of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine.

Scholarships are offered for one-year master’s degree courses at our UK partner universities.

Applications in all subject areas are considered but candidates should demonstrate how their chosen course will help them to contribute towards the development of the region.

Who can apply?

To be considered for a Saïd Foundation scholarship, candidates should:

• Hold Syrian, Jordanian, Lebanese or Palestinian nationality and be permanently resident in one of these countries. The Foundation will consider Syrians residing elsewhere due to current circumstances in the country.

• Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK 2:1 or higher (or be in the final year of an undergraduate degree)

• Have work and/or voluntary experience relevant to their field of study and a clear career plan

• Demonstrate leadership potential in their chosen field

Candidates must also:

• Apply for a course at one of the Foundation’s UK partner universities

• Meet the Foundation’s English language requirement

• Submit all required documentation

JuventudEsGto Scholarship Residents of State of Guanajuato, Mexico, with an offer to study at postgraduate taught (Masters) and research levels (PHD) at the UCA are eligible for this scholarship.

Amount £4,000 scholarship per student for our postgraduate taught programs (Masters) and £4,000 scholarship yearly on our postgraduate research programs (PHD) against UCA’s standard International tuition fees for the duration of the JuventudEsGto-UCA Scholarship.

Department of Political Science Grad Wins Global Grant Scholarship for International Studies

“I am extremely grateful to be the recipient of the Global Grant Scholarship this year,” said Conover. “Above all, the focus of this scholarship is to support endeavors that will contribute to Rotary’s goal of improving lives and supporting peace efforts globally. To me, this scholarship is an affirmation of the work I have put in through my undergraduate career and of my passion to work in a field that is focused on advocating for the betterment of all people, and ultimately the world.

“It means a lot to me that this organization believes that I am capable of meaningfully contributing to these goals during my postgraduate education and beyond,” she continued.

Conover, who’s originally from Sturgis, South Dakota, earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies in December 2023. As a recipient of the Rotary International Global Grant Scholarship, she will receive $30,000 toward her graduate education. Conover plans to obtain her Master of Laws in human rights law from the University of Edinburgh, a public research university in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Conover will focus on international humanitarian law, or the law of armed conflict, and hopes to work with other scholars through the university’s Global Justice Academy.

“I am looking forward to the many opportunities offered by my program at the University of Edinburgh, primarily, the opportunity to specialize my courses and research in an area of my choosing,” said Conover. “Additionally, toward the end of my program I will get to pursue a work placement, as opposed to a conventional dissertation, with a number of renowned international human rights organizations.”

This is not Conover’s first time furthering her education on an international scale. As an undergraduate at USD, Conover engaged in several study abroad opportunities, including studying Russian in Kyrgyzstan through the nationally competitive Critical Language Scholarship . Conover also completed two Faculty Led Programs to Ireland and Georgia.

“I have been very privileged to have had so many great study abroad experiences during my undergraduate years, and these undoubtedly have had a significant impact on me personally,” said Conover. “The experience of studying abroad, no matter which place I have been, was always eye opening in new and staggering ways.

“From climbing a mountain in Ireland in the rain to participating in language immersion, I have grown immensely as a person and gained new levels of confidence that inspired me to go after opportunities I otherwise may not have,” she continued. “Ultimately, each experience reaffirmed my desire to continue exploring and expanding my worldview.”

In addition to studying abroad, Conover actively engaged with several campus and community organizations, including Student Government Association, USD College Democrats, Pi Sigma Alpha, USD Model United Nations Security Council, Peer 2 Peer Mentor program and Alternative Week of Learning. Her involvement combined with her classroom experiences and relationships with faculty more than prepared her to take this next step.

“Amazing faculty and courses fostered my passion for learning and pursuing a higher degree, and I can feel confident that I have the work ethic and educational background to succeed,” said Conover.

“I will be forever thankful for the many people who supported me through my undergraduate degree through consistent encouragement,” she continued. “All of the faculty I have worked with in the political science department at USD have taught me so much and helped prepare me for this next step. Specifically, I would like to thank Dr. Timothy Schorn, Ilmira Dulyanova and Sarah Whittmuss for their relentless support and encouragement while always pushing me to be my best.”

Conover’s ultimate goal is to pursue a career in human rights policy and research. She hopes to work with nongovernmental organizations, government entities or international bodies advocating for human rights protections and enforcements. With hopes to eventually earn her Ph.D. and become a professor of human rights and international law, Conover looks forward to what’s next.

• Norris to study Indigenous Peoples law

Law & Justice senior to study Indigenous Peoples law at Oklahoma

Shows such as "Suits" and games like "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" tend to present an exciting portrayal of the legal profession, yet often overshadow the diverse array of specialties within the field. J.W. Norris, a senior majoring in law and justice, is set to graduate and pursue a career in Indigenous Peoples law, a field that, while less commonly highlighted, holds significant importance.

Norris will attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue his certification in American Indian Law, a profession commonly focusing on natural resources, criminal jurisdiction, gaming law and the Indian Child Welfare Act.

"It's definitely not something you hear about all the time since it isn't super common. I think my family thinks I'm a little crazy because that's what I talk about," said Norris. "I want to end up way out west in Dallas, Texas, and hopefully land a job in some type of litigation after."

Norris' journey to Auburn was anything but conventional. Initially set on a path to play collegiate golf, he had his sights on smaller schools scattered across Mississippi. However, after immersing himself in the campus and culture, Norris decided to follow his great-grandfather's legacy and attend Auburn. 

While still aiming to attend law school, Norris originally studied history. After completing more law-based coursework, Norris discovered his passion for Auburn's law and justice path. 

"I really like history, but only specific periods. When I got here, I took a couple of the law and justice classes like evidence and legal reasoning," said Norris. "I realized that was more of the path I wanted to take, more of the way of thinking I wanted to study. I wanted to be a part of that community."

In complement to his studies, Norris undertook multiple internships within district attorneys' offices and with Make-A-Wish Alabama. Leveraging connections with faculty members and resources from Career Services , he garnered valuable experience inside and outside the courtroom spanning corporate and nonprofit law.

"My first internship was with the District Attorney's Office in Mobile. If you're interested in going to law school, it's like what you think being an attorney will be. It was six weeks of sitting in jury trials. I also did stuff like type witness lists, listen to jail calls and make reports on them," said Norris. "I never planned on it, but I also got an internship with Make-A-Wish Alabama where ​​I got to work very closely with doctor's offices and families. Nonprofit is an area I'm interested in doing after law school."

Norris is also an executive board member of Pi Lambda Sigma , a student recruiter in the College of Liberal Arts and executive editor of The Law Review at Auburn University. Through his curriculum and expansive involvement, Norris emphasizes the significance of Auburn's expansive faculty and alumni support network. 

"Dr. Armstrong-Wright is the pre-law advisor and she's looked over every application material I sent to law schools, which was so helpful. All my professors have been great. They're all just so passionate," said Norris. "I've also met so many alumni and guests that have actually reached out and helped me. You're surrounded by so many resources. If there's anything you want to do, you can accomplish it at Auburn."
