The main objective of this study is to identify factors affecting the academic performance of undergraduate students of Raya University (RU), Maichew, Ethiopia. In order to achieve the stated objectives of the research a stratified sampling was used to select 146 students from 17 departments of the university. To analyze the collected data and to investigate factors affecting the academic performance of undergraduate students the ordinary list square (OLS) and Tobit regression methods were used. The findings reviled the existence of significance relationship between the student’s university cumulative grade point average (UCGPA) and preparatory CGPA, gender deference, place of origin, college of the student, mismatch between teaching and learning style and student’s expectation about their future job opportunity. The above independent variables are statistically significant and they are the major determinants of students’ academic performance. However, variables like, age, study hour, entrance exam result, participation in cooperative learning program, mother’s educational level and department choice were insignificant. Finally, the study recommends that Raya University, the Ethiopian ministry of education, students and students’ families, policy makers and other concerned body should work hard towards improving students’ academic performance, by considering aforementioned determinant factors.
This research was primarily aimed at providing information and knowledge of the influences, positive or negative, that students of the Ho Polytechnic are exposed to in the pursuit of their academic careers. To do this, 300 students were sampled from 10 departments to respond to a questionnaire designed for that purpose. Twenty eight original indicators (which are statements) were presented by the researcher and the respondents asked to rate their level of agreement with the statements with regard to its influence on academic performance. Eight salient factor were identified that could possibly be influencing the academic performance of students in Ho Polytechnic. The research has it that poor financial background and/or the pursuit of finances by students does not negatively affect the academic performance. It also appeared that even if they join any cult or engage in romantic relationships, they do not do that at the detriment of their academic excellence. It was also found that lecturers of the Polytechnic are doing their best and that failure cannot be attributed to them. Most students are also offering courses they had command on since their senior high school days, and that their past schools are also the share in their destiny. That students are healthy and so do not think that health problem could be blame for poor academic performance. Students however, could not tell whether stress however, do negatively influence their academic excellence. Therefore, the Polytechnic should think of instituting counseling sections, incorporated in the school’s curricula, for students in knowing how to manage stress and its related consequences.

This study tried to identify the factors that have effects on the academic performances of university students in the Sylhet Region. Student's perceptions were taken to determine the factors affecting academic performance. Independent t-test was used to find out the mean difference of academic results between two groups of students. Results showed that there is a significant difference between male and female students in the case of academic study time and CGPA; as the female students have higher CGPA than male students by utilizing most of the academic study time. To find out the effective factors, the result showed that students who attend class regularly, feel comparatively less academic stress, submit assignments in due time and spend more time for the academic study were found to have higher academic marks compared to others who do not. By assessing other factors, results showed the students coming from the nuclear family got good marks rather than the extended family. Besides, the students having sufficient access to healthy food, satisfied with the current accommodation level had good academic marks, and students who spent more time in unproductive activities got poor marks in academics. Improving these factors would also influence much of the academic success of students.

How I Overcome the Laziness (by Ummu Imro'atus Sholihah) People call it laziness, which according to Cambridge School Dictionary, it is the time where you do not want to working or using any effort. I realize that this laziness leads me to the lacks of good productivity.
The study aims to identify factors that cause laziness and how they impact students' grades. It provides context on the importance of academic performance and discusses past research identifying causes of poor performance such as intellectual ability and socioeconomic status.
Going hand-in-hand with procrastination, laziness fills any task with dread and prohibits our potential as successful individuals (Study International, 2017). Laziness really does destroy the students’ performance and ruin their future. But why do the students still practice laziness? What could be the source of all this?
