Preply is an online tutoring platform, where people around the world can offer their educational services in anything from mathematics, art, and humanities, to business and natural sciences. You can opt to become a tutor in maths in your home language and charge students hourly for your services. You can make anything from $3 to $100 an hour depending on your qualifications and experience. Because you can select your weekly availability, it’s a great way to earn some extra money teaching math in your free time.

Like Preply, Upwork is also a freelance tutoring network but on a bigger scale. This comes with its benefits, like a larger customer base and potential for work, but also its pitfalls, like having to compete with many other people for those customers. Upwork requires a more senior level of math expertise than some of the other platforms listed, and, therefore, isn’t a good option for high school or university students wanting to make money teaching maths.

To apply for a job on Upwork, all you need to do is create a profile and start applying for math tutoring jobs by sending through proposals about your offerings. If the customer likes your bid, then you’ve got the job!

There are plenty of freelance online tutoring platforms to choose from, but Yup.com is another one of our favourites and enormously popular. Their user-friendly interface allows you to dig straight into the teaching and avoid spending hours trying to figure out and navigate their interface. What’s more is that hours are accumulated and paid out monthly, creating a steady and consistent flow of income.

Getting started is slightly more tough as you will be required to complete a Math proficiency and Teaching exam - a task that should be easily accomplished if you’re wanting to teach other kids math! To get started, set up your tutoring profile and determine your availability. The rest will follow.

7. Math Cash App

The Math Cash App offers a plethora of ways to earn money, not just by doing math. For example, you can do crossword puzzles and Sudoku or participate in the mystery number challenge. The most popular way, however, is to challenge other players to a math duel. You get one minute to solve a set of 20 math questions and you have to be the first to complete the challenge before the time runs out. And the time runs out quick! Most of the questions involve addition, subtraction, division, and combination problems - a great way to improve your quick thinking arithmetic.

You earn approximately $1 for every 1000 points, so it might take a while to actually make some decent money. The minimum payout is $5.00 via PayPal, which they transfer to you pretty quickly.

Perhaps for the more advanced expert, Chegg may be one of the most well-known online tutoring websites. Chegg seeks mathematicians who are skilled in advanced or basic math concepts who can facilitate students with any or all of their math needs.

You can download the app and apply for a position where you will answer the problems submitted by students. You will receive monthly payments for your contributions, which range around $20 per hour. Download the app to ensure you’re constantly connected and earning money helping students with their math.

9. PhotoMath

Considered one of the Top 5 educational apps on both the Google Play Store and App Store, Photomath offers positions to those who have a passion for solving math problems. Apply for the position of Math Content Contributor and provide answers and solutions to high school and college-level math questions.

Each math question posted has a predefined rate based on its complexity, which you will receive for your contribution. Compensation is determined by the number of math problems you solve and review, and how long you spent solving the task. Math lovers can earn up to $100 a week helping solve student’s math queries.

10. Jump Math

Jump Math is a math game that let's you solve math problems by jumping on the correct answers. You get points if you hop on the correct answers. You can stand a chance of winning $100 by getting a minimum score which gets you a ticket into a $100 lotto draw.
