But the porridge my mother prepares on the occasion is what I like most. I feel very important in my beautiful new dress. How I wish there were many birthdays every year!

My friend and neighbour, Natasha, turned five years old recently and her parents held a birthday party for her. All the kids in the neighbourhood were invited. I was one of those invited. The party began at 6:30 p.m. at the house of the birthday girl. She wore a beautiful new dress. About twenty children were there. All of them were in their best clothes. Natasha’s mother served soft drinks to the guests. Then we had a round of games like ‘musical chairs’, ‘treasure hunt’ etc. It was fun and enjoyable. The winners were given prizes. Balloons were burst and cake pieces were served to all the guests. This was followed by giving and receiving gifts. All the guests gave presents to the girl and wished her all the best. In turn, all the children were also given gifts. By then it was 8 p.m. All the people were hungry and tired. Soon dinner was served. We all had our food which was quite delicious.

Shortly afterward people started leaving thanking the hosts for an enjoyable evening. I was also eager to go home and look at the present I had got. I wished Natasha all the best and slowly left the place.

Everybody likes to celebrate his birthday but children are particularly fond of celebrating their birthday. I turned twelve last month. I decided to celebrate my birthday with the usual pomp and show. I invited all my friends and relatives to my birthday party which was to be held in the evening on that particular day. My friends and I had decorated the room well with balloons and bunting where the party was to be held.

It became difficult for me to decide which dress I should wear for the party. Different friends of mine suggested different dresses. Finally, I chose the pink dress which had been sent by my aunt from Paris. Everybody at the party appreciated my dress. The guests started coming in the afternoon. As I started cutting the cake, all the guests and my friends spoke out in chorus “Happy Birthday to you.” Then everybody was given a piece of cake and drinks.

My father had also arranged an elaborate orchestra for the occasion. The tunes displayed by the orchestra were, indeed, marvelous and everybody there automatically started dancing to the sweet melodious tunes.

Then the dinner was held after which a brief session of skits, titbits, and jokes was held. My friend Savita, was declared the best clown for her mimicry, funny talks, and titbits. She was given a precious watch as a prize by my father.

As the guests left, I was tempted to have a glance at the gifts I had received. I found all the gifts precious since they were presented with genuine love and affection. The monetary value of a gift could not sway me to value any gift more or less than others. It is thus that even at this tender age I have realized that money does not always rule the roost.

I was born on 24th January, eleven years ago. For me, it is the day when I am made to feel very important. I am busy sending invitation cards, arranging games and decorating the drawing room, on my birthday. I have left certain things entirely to my sister. For example, it is for her to decorate the cards and write addresses in a very beautiful handwriting. She also invites her friends to join the party. My father has a very different notion about the celebration of my birthday. Last year, he had taken me to an orphanage and had made me contribute money to their welfare fund. My Birthday Party Essay

I shall ever remember my twelfth birthday. It was celebrated in a grand style. My birthday falls on the 13th of April every year. Baisakhi is also celebrated the same day. My birthday falls in the spring season and days are very pleasant then.

The drawing-room was tastefully decorated with flowers balloons and colourful paper buntings. In the evening, the celebrations began when all the guests arrived. Then I went into the hall dressed in my special clothes.

Birthday Party Essay: Birthdays are celebrated in the most gracious way as they come once a year. Inviting friends and relatives for cute parties at home and treating them with special celebrations bring in happiness and joy on the day. My birthday is my favourite day of the entire year. Not because of the presents or the cake or the decorations, but rather because of the special attention and love I get from my close friends and family. The thought of being a year older is always surreal and exciting. I don’t normally like to have birthday parties, but my small surprise birthday party last year was unique and very special.

Some people wouldn’t really define it as a party, because I didn’t have lots of guests and I didn’t play party games. It was my first week at university, and to celebrate my birthday, my friends wished me at 12 AM and gave me plenty of hugs. We decided to watch a movie of my choice, so I chose a horror movie. We ate lots of food, chatted and listened to music, which made for a nice, small party.

Later in the day, I went to see my family, who surprised me with the prettiest birthday cake I’d ever seen. The edge of the cake was completely made of Kit Kat’s, and the top was sprinkled with M&Ms. I blew the candles, cut the cake and cheered as I opened birthday presents. I played around with my younger siblings and watched a movie with them.

I think the reason this birthday party of sorts is memorable for me is because it was my first week in a new place. I was very frightened and nervous, but spending time with friends and family because of my birthday helped me feel more comfortable.

Birthdays are a lot of fun. Your friends come together to celebrate your life and have a great time together. In my short life, I have seen a few birthdays. For the most part, they have been all the same. My parents send out the invitations, my friends dress up and come at the appointed hour, we eat a lot of food, play a lot of games and have a lot of fun.

One of the problems with birthdays though, all the good ones seem to melt together. It is hard to distinguish one birthday from another. They all seem to have a common theme and one good party is the same as the one previous to it and the one previous to that one.

Sometimes it is hard to pick one but not this time. I have one particular birthday that has stood out in my memory and while it does not haunt me it does not leave my memory banks. It is just kind of there reminding me that not all birthdays are memorable for good reasons. This particular birthday was not marred by accidents, injuries, or disasters. And the memorable part came after it was over.

It all took place on my 19th birthday, a year out of high school. I was a freshman in college at the time and my friends who attended were my classmates. It was not an exotic affair, just friends gathering together to celebrate a birthday over a nice dinner in town.

None of us had a car so we took the bus to the restaurant. This particular restaurant was not that expensive but it was very birthday friendly. That allowed us to have a good time without disturbing other dinner guests. I do not remember what we ate but it was good. That much I do remember about the food. the cake was shaped like a heart because my birthday falls on Valentine’s Day.

I have become tired of heart-shaped cakes as I seem to have one every year. My birthday wishes now are to get a different shaped cake next year. Before they presented me with their gifts they had to sing Happy Birthday to me which I appreciated but thought they could have skipped that part.

Of course, they did not have to but friends being friends always give something nice to their buddy on their birthday. This part I enjoyed immensely but it did not separate this particular day from all the previous ones. I always received gifts n my birthday.

I am not sure how long the party lasted but it could not go to late as our college had a curfew and we had to be back by 10 or we would be in trouble, birthday or not. By all accounts, this was not a memorable birthday. It was the standard party most people receive on their special day. Good friends just gathered together for a great time of fun and food.

What made it memorable was the news I received after I returned to my college dorm room. My family had called with sad news. One of my best childhood friends had passed away earlier that night. We were friends since before we went to elementary school and we faced school life together. He was more outgoing than I and he had a lot of friends.

What made it hard to fathom was my friend did not have a dangerous or contagious disease. Nor did he take a lot of risks when participating in different activities. No, he died of appendicitis. It had burst before the doctors could save him.

Maybe I would have understood it better if he had not died from such a simple medical procedure. There are times I think about my friend and that keeps this birthday standing out above all the rest.
