ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

ELIGIBILITY FOR MS/MPHIL:

• Candidates having relevant BS/M.A/M.Sc degree or equivalent (minimum 16 years of education) with at least a CGPA of 2.5/4.0 (in Semester System) or 2nd Division (in Annual System) from a HEC recognized University, shall be eligible for admission.
• The candidates should pass university admission test by obtaining at least 50% marks OR already have a valid GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS test score of at least 50% marks.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PhD:

• Candidates having relevant MS/MPhil (minimum 18 years of education) degree with at least a CGPA of 3.0/4.0 (in Semester System) from a recognized University, shall be eligible for admission. 
• The candidates should pass university admission test by obtaining at least 60% marks OR already have a valid GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS test score of at least 60% marks.

Submission of the Statement of Purpose by the scholar along with the application form.

ADMISSION SCHEDULE:

MOST IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

• A candidate who already has a valid GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS score card is not required to appear in departmental test to be conducted by the concerned department/institute /centre/college for Fall 2023-24 admissions.
• The concerned department/institute/centre/college will inform all the candidates of their departmental test date, time and venue.
• Only those candidates will be considered for admission whose results are properly declared/notified by the Controller of Examinations on or before 19th September 2023.
• Candidates employed in any Government or Semi-Government department/ organization must submit a No Objection Certificate from the concerned department/organization prior to provisional admission.
• Provision of hostel accommodation will be subject to the availability of seats and shall not be claimed as a matter of right.
• If found ineligible during scrutiny, the candidate shall not be allowed to appear in the interview even if he/she has qualified for the GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS or departmental test. Further, if the candidate appears in the interview and is later found to be ineligible for any reason, his/her admission will be cancelled at any stage. 
• In case of ambiguity about eligibility, the opinion of the Graduate Studies Committee of the concerned department will be considered final. 
• All the HEC/University of Peshawar rules/regulations shall be applicable to the admitted scholars.
• The University reserves the right to make changes in any program/admission procedure/regulations when and where deemed necessary.
• Admission fee once deposited shall not be refunded.

APPLICATION:

• Interested candidates shall submit Online Admission Applications at the University website www.uop.edu.pk or by visiting http://gadmissions.uop.edu.pk.
• No hard copies are required for submission to the admission office.
• All the candidates are instructed to apply for admission well in time without waiting for the last date in order to reduce the burden on the online admission portal/website.
• No printed admission application form will be issued. Therefore, the candidates are required to apply online on the above-mentioned link only.
• Corrections, if any, in the online admission form will be made through email requests to [email protected] with proper evidence regarding requisite correction before the last date i.e. 19th September 2023.
• No corrections will be made after the last date.
• Admission dues should be paid on the date of interview.
• The admitted dues original bank voucher shall be presented to the concerned department/institute/centre/academy/college to confirm admission seat.
• The concerned department/institute/centre/academy/college will scan and upload the fee voucher on the admission portal for admission seat validation.

• The selected candidates in the merit list (called for interview) must produce the following documents/requirements at the time of their interview:
•  Printed Application Form
• Original Bank Receipt
• Original relevant Degree & DMC/Transcript along with a Photocopy
• Valid GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS scorecard with a photocopy
• Service Certificate (for University Employees only)

• Once you apply, download and print the bank voucher Rs. 2000/- and deposit the requisite amount in any United Bank Limited (UBL) branch
• Upload the scanned copy of digital bank receipt of your deposit slip in the portal to complete the application process

Application deadlines vary among departments. Please be aware of the deadlines specified by the department to which you are applying.

• If there is a dash (-) in the term column, it means the department does not admit for that term. 
• The deadline for each term is midnight Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the date specified below. You will be unable to choose the term on the application after that deadline.

When completing the online application, if the term you want to apply does not show, it means that term is either unavailable or the deadline has passed. If you are past the deadline, please reach out directly to the program department before reaching out to Graduate Studies to determine if they will allow you to still apply.

The ANSO Scholarship for International Students 2024 Call for Applications to Study at UCAS

Part I: Introduction

The Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) is a non-profit, non-governmental international organization founded in 2018. Founding members include 37 scientific institutions, universities, and international organizations worldwide. ANSO aims to improve regional and global capacity in science and technology, human livelihoods and wellbeing, and to promote broader S&T cooperation and communication.

The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents (hereinafter referred to as the ANSO Scholarship ) was formally launched in 2019 with the goal of training and cultivating young scientists from all over the world. The ANSO Scholarship supports 200 Master’s students and 300 PhD students every year to pursue postgraduate education at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) or institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) around China.

A sub-category of the ANSO Scholarship: the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship was officially launched in year 2022. Echoing the priority of TWAS/UNESCO, special (not exclusive) consideration will be given to two target groups: Least Development Countries (LDCs) and women. Up to 50 PhD students from developing countries will be selected by TWAS/UNESCO into this category every year.

CAS, the leading founding member of ANSO, is the major sponsor of the ANSO Scholarship. TWAS and UNESCO, both founding members of ANSO, provide part of the funding for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship awardees. ANSO welcomes all members and parties who are interested in creating a more diversified scholarship program together.

Part II: Coverage and duration

• For ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship awardees, the above item 1 to item 4 will be covered by CAS; item 5 and item 6 will be covered by TWAS/UNESCO. For other ANSO Scholarship awardees, all the items above will be covered by CAS.
• The reimbursement/allowance standards and procedure for item 5 and item 6 should comply with the rules of the sponsor.
• Any scholarship awardee on site in China, the host country, at the time of application will NOT be eligible for any travel subsidy.

All awardees are required to finish centralized training in Chinese language, Chinese culture and all required credits as well as practical research and completion of degree thesis at colleges and schools of UCAS or CAS institutes.

       • Termination of his/her scholarship;

       • Discontinuity of his/her master’s study;

       • Being provided with a certificate of attendance for the period of study undertaken in China but not a formal master’s degree.

Any PhD awardee who fails the qualification test or annual assessment will face the consequences including:

       • Discontinuity of his/her doctoral study;

       • Being provided with a certificate of attendance for the period of study undertaken in China but not a formal doctoral degree.

Part III: Eligibility

Eligible applicants must:

• Eligible applicants should NOT hold Chinese citizenship，with a valid passport, friendly to China and abiding by the laws and decrees of China, and UCAS rules and regulations.
• Eligible applicants should be proficient in English or Chinese;
• For Master’s program applicants: you should be born after 1 st January 1994 (inclusive);

For PhD program applicants: you should be born after 1 st January 1989­­ (inclusive);

• Meet the admission criteria for UCAS international students (please refer to the calls for 2024 Programs for international students) Eligible applicants should NOT take up other assignments during the period of his/her scholarship.
• If you are currently pursuing a master’s degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the master’s program of this scholarship. If you are currently pursuing a doctoral degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the PhD program of this scholarship. Otherwise, you will be disqualified from admission and the situation will be reported to your current university/institution.
• Not take up other assignments during the period of his/her scholarship.
• You are NOT allowed to apply for the ANSO Scholarship in both USTC and UCAS simultaneously, otherwise you will be disqualified from admission.

Part IV: Application Procedure

The 2024 ANSO Scholarship is open for application on 20 th October 2023 (The exact dates might be slightly different for USTC and UCAS, please check their websites for details).

• Online Application

Please log in the Online Admission System for International Students at UCAS ( here ) and follow its instructions to finish all the required application procedures. File and submit your application in the system as requested before deadline.

When applying:

• Firstly choose “the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents” in your application.
• Secondly if you want to be considered a potential candidate for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship, check the box as instructed in the application system.

Additional Information

• Awardees must register at the time and place indicated in the Admission Notice. Otherwise, they should apply for extension of their registration.
• The duration of the scholarship stated explicitly in the Admission Notice.
• Registered awardees must abide by relevant rules and regulations of the universities, and attend reviews and examinations, such as the qualifying tests on time. Awardees who fail review or examination will be deprived of their scholarship or their scholarship will be suspended.
• Any work produced and published by the awardees during the funding period of the scholarship must be credited to the institute/school and UCAS are enrolled. Awardees are also required to acknowledge “Sponsored by ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents”.

ANSO is committed to promoting shared sustainable development and the advancement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through catalyzing and implementing concrete international cooperative initiatives in Science, Technology, Innovation and Capacity Building (STIC).
