The best presentation apps for android.

best powerpoint presentation on android

Desktop computers have become a rare commodity these day and although laptops are holding on to the last shred of anything that doesn’t resemble a smart device, it might not be long before they might be replaced for good. Even modern laptops have begun to resemble smart devices, as hybrid models aim to replace the conventional laptop.

Whether you are a PC user or someone who favours Mac, the chances are you need to be ready for a world ruled by Android. In fact, many PC and Mac users already own an Android device.

To help presenters prepare for things to come, we have compiled a list of the best presentation apps for Android. This list consists of not only apps that can be used for making and presenting your slide decks but also apps which can help you turn your Android device into a presentation remote or a tool for remotely delivering your presentations.

[This article contains affiliate links. For more information, see our disclosures here .]

1) PowerPoint for Android

According to some estimates there are 30 million PowerPoint presentations delivered per day. It can be safely assumed that most presenters globally use PowerPoint for delivering their slides. Even many who use alternative apps, usually make use of applications which support PPT files. This is why PowerPoint for Android is number one of our list of best presentation apps for Android.

While users have complained about the need for an Office 365 account to use the PowerPoint app for Android , however, there is no denying the fact that it is indeed the real deal when it comes to Android presentation apps. PowerPoint for Android supports many features that many so called PowerPoint alternatives on the Play Store have failed to provide. This includes features like: support for PowerPoint charts; transitions and animations; and integration with SharePoint and major cloud storage services.

You can access files from not only your Android device but also via OneDrive, Google Drive, box, DropBox and SharePoint. Furthermore, you can create, edit and present presentations right from your Android device.

PowerPoint for Android is not without its limitations, as it is not as powerful as its desktop version. Unfortunately, you cannot do much with the app unless you are logged in with an Office 365 account.

If you’re wondering why would you use a paid app instead of the dozens of free alternatives on the Google Play Store, the answer is simple. PowerPoint for Android not only provides support for many native features that other apps can’t provide but also enables making high-quality slides; something a professional presenter desperately needs to have.

Furthermore, your imported PowerPoint files will not have any missing charts, animations or pixelated images when you open them on Android. Moreover, you can safely use PowerPoint for Android for presenting your slides by connecting your Android device to a projector using a PC, Chromecast, Miracast, etc.

2) Google Slides

If you don’t want to pay for an Office 365 subscription, Google Slides is the next best alternative. What started as a cloud based imitation of PowerPoint has come a long way. While Google Slides has a long way to go, as explained in our post about Google Slides Vs PowerPoint ; it gives adequate options for making a good looking presentation.

With the Google Slides app for Android you can create, edit and present your presentations from an Android device. Furthermore, it supports PowerPoint files, which can help you use this app as a free alternative to the Office 365 subscription based PowerPoint for Android app.

If you’ve never used the web based version of Google Slides or haven’t tried it since its rebranding, it has come a long way. A few years back I would not have fancied importing a PowerPoint presentation to Google Slides but all that has now changed. The imported PowerPoint files have much better editability and few slides (if any) get botched after import.

The only downside of using Google Slides is that you can’t do much without internet connectivity. For example, you need online connectivity for making a presentation. This can be a buzzkill for people looking for an app they can use without keeping their mobile data packages on when making slides on the go.

Needless to say, Google Slides comes integrated with Google Drive and gives you access for your presentation files via your Google account. While Google Slides is no PowerPoint, however, it can help you get the job done with all basic functions a presenter might need. Furthermore, it’s also a good enough option for viewing and editing PowerPoint files for free on an Android device.

3) WPS Office+PDF

I have been using WPS Office for as long as I have owned an Android device. This is one of the oldest Office Suites for Android and one of the best ones available for free. With WPS Office you can create, view and edit Office files, including presentations, with support for PowerPoint files.

WPS Office also provides a number of other handy functions, such as wireless printing support for Office and PDF files, a reader-friendly mobile mode for PDF files and documents, built-in image editing functionality, track changes, etc.

It can be safely assumed that after PowerPoint for Android and Google Slides, WPS Office has the features and smooth functionality which makes it a viable Android app for creating, viewing, editing and presenting presentations.

WPS Office screenshot

4)  Polaris Office+PDF

Many Android devices come with the Polaris Viewer, which makes it possible to view MS Office files on Android devices. Polaris has many apps for Android, including separate apps for LG devices, Symantec mobility suite, and an enterprise version known as Polaris Good. Polaris Office+PDF is a free Office suite which can be used for viewing and editing MS Office files, including PowerPoint presentations.

Polaris Office also provides a number of other useful features, such as the ability to take notes with handwriting, passcode protection for documents, document sharing and commenting features, etc. Polaris Office+PDF is a free Android app, which offers in-app purchases.

Polaris Office screenshot

5) Smart Office 2

Smart Office 2 for Android is one of many Office apps which came way before Microsoft woke up from its slumber. This app is not just a mere PowerPoint alternative for Android but an entire Office suite. Smart Office 2 is a free app, which supports creating, editing, viewing, printing and sharing Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. It also provides support for viewing PDF and image files, including GIF animations ad Vector Graphics (WMF & EMF).

Smart Office 2 also enables converting Office files to PDF format, with the utility to annotate PDF files. You can use Smart Office for presenting PowerPoint and PDF presentation using your Android device. Smart Office 2 also gives templates for creating Office files, including PowerPoint presentations.

While Smart Office 2 is not as feature rich as PowerPoint for Android or Google Slides, it does serve as the poor man’s PowerPoint and can perform many basic functions you would expect in an office suite. Something that I personally find lacking in this app is the lacklustre interface and slower functionality. This is why WPS and Polaris Office are ranked higher in our list.

Presentations aren’t necessarily supposed to be all about PowerPoint slides. There are many useful apps that can go beyond support for PPTs and actually deliver a platform which can make professional presenters stand out from the crowd. ShowPad is one such service, which makes it possible for presenters engaged in sales and marketing to deliver robust presentations on the fly.

ShowPad is a sales enablement platform. In other words, it is a service which allows bringing together all your marketing data to create custom presentations according to specific customer needs. This might include PPTs, PDF files, Word documents, videos and relevant images.

The ShowPad app for Android is an extension of the ShowPad web service, which gives a plethora of options to access sales data for presenting your sales pitch anytime, using interactive tools. ShowPad is a paid service which can be tested out using a free trial account.

7) MightyMeeting

MightyMeeting is not your average presentation app, as it integrates web conferencing with polls, whiteboards and PowerPoint slides to provide a comprehensive platform for presenters. MightyMeeting is perfect for remote presentations and for delivering your presentation during a webinar or online conference.

Like ShowPad, MightyMeeting app for Android is an extension of a web service. You can instantly start online meetings, invite attendees and begin presenting your content using PowerPoint slides, whiteboards, videos and even conduct polls to gather opinion from meeting participants.

MightyMeeting is a paid service but you can take it for a spin using a trial account. Read a more detailed review of MightyMeeting here .

8)  AIO Remote

You might have used apps that turn your Android device into a presentation remote. And when it comes to the best Android presentation remote app, AIO Remote is a clear winner. When I first installed this app, I didn’t expect much, however, I was amazed by its smooth functionality and wide range of features.

AIO Remote can not only be used if you are presenting PowerPoint slides on your computer but even if you are using another presentation app. This is because AIO has features for controlling not just PowerPoint slides but your entire computer. With AIO Remote you can control your mouse pad, turn your Android device into a joystick, browse your PC files, control your media player, as well as create custom remotes by specifying control variables.

AIO Remote for Android is free to use and works with Windows, Mac and Linux. AIO also has a mobile version for Kindle tablets. You can connect AIO Remote via Android to your computer using a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.

You can find a more detailed review of AIO Remote here.

AIO Remote screenshot

9) Office Remote

Office Remote is an official app by Microsoft which is meant to remotely control Office apps on PC using Android devices. Office Remote can not only control PowerPoint running on a PC but also other Office apps like Word and Excel.

Office Remote is a free app and requires Bluetooth connectivity between a PC and Android device. Like any remote control app for Android, you will require installing a desktop plugin for MS Office on your PC and the Android app for Office remote on your Android smartphone or tablet.

Office Remote screenshot

10)  AirDroid

When it comes to Android apps providing remote control, AirDroid is indeed a novelty. This is not your conventional Android remote, since it does pretty much the opposite of what AIO Remote and Office Remote Offer; i.e. you can remotely control your Android device via PC, Mac or web browser.

Now, being a presenter you might be wondering what good can AirDroid be for you? The answer is simple. AirDroid be useful to remotely accessing your Android device to Mirror it on a PC or Mac connected to a projector. Moreover, you can use it to remotely send SMS, transfer files, control your mobile camera, play and manage audio and video files, as well as transfer files to your computer without the need for wired connectivity.

In other words, whether you want to mirror your Android on a projector via computer, remotely control your Android device during a presentation or need to quickly transfer a file from your Android device to a computer, AirDroid can help you do all that. Furthermore, if you intend to share something like a WhatsApp chat, video or need to demonstrate something using your Android device, you can show it all on the big screen.

AirDroid is a free app but offers some in-app purchases.

AirDroid screenshot

The above list is meant to provide our fellow presenters with useful apps to help them use their Android devices more effectively for presenting presentations. We excluded apps which we thought were not user-friendly enough or lacked essential features.

This is why Prezi did not make it to our list. Unfortunately, Prezi currently only has a Prezi Viewer for Android and its mobile site doesn’t make it any easy to create presentations from an Android browser.

Similarly, we did not include many presentation remote apps, since the ones mentioned in this post come with comprehensive features that are hard to match by other Android apps.

If you think we missed out a presentation app for Android which should be on this list, feel free to share your thoughts via our comments section.

Some features of certain apps might require online connectivity. However, most of the apps have some kind of offline support. WP Office for instance provides complete offline support, similarly, you can connect AIO Remote via Bluetooth.

It often happens that our laptop is not with us, but for some urgent office work, we have to make a presentation from the phone itself. So for them, these editing APPs can be utilized.

5 Of The Best Apps To Create And Edit Presentations On Android Devices

woman showing presentation on phone

Whether you're attending school or are part of the corporate world, you're likely no stranger to presentations. They're a staple in both academic and professional settings as they're one of the best ways to share ideas with your class, client, or higher-ups. Normally, you'd rely on your computer to create your presentations, but it isn't exactly convenient for on-the-fly edits. After all, you can't just open your laptop as you're running to class or on an elevator on the way to a board meeting. You'd need something more portable for last-minute tweaks like adding speaker notes or changing the image caption in your slides.

Thankfully, you're not without options as there's a plethora of apps on the Play Store designed to help you whip up or polish presentations right from your Android device. What's even better is that some of these apps don't require you to be online, so you can stay productive anytime, anywhere. We've narrowed down the search and came up with five of the best presentation apps for Android you need to try.

Google Slides

Google Slides sample presentation

If you're already in the Google ecosystem and using apps like Drive, Meet, and Calendar,  Google Slides is one of the top presentation apps for you. One of its main draws is its seamless interconnectivity with other Google products. Create a presentation in the Slides app, and it will pop up in Drive automatically. Punch in your Google Meet meeting ID, and you can show your presentation directly in Slides -– no need to install the Meet app itself. Connect Slides with your Calendar, and you can also start presenting your Slides file for a scheduled meeting in Meet. Another nifty presentation feature of Slides is its live Q&A session that allows you to display questions on the screen as you go.

Editing and creating presentations from scratch is a breeze in Slides, too. There are several Slides templates to get you started, along with a handful of themes and layouts you can switch to depending on your style and content. Slides comes with all the standard formatting options at your disposal, including font styles, sizes, colors, and emphasis (e.g., bold, italics, underline). Just like in other Google products like Docs and Sheets, Slides lets you leave comments and enable offline use for certain files.

Google Slides won't cost you a dime — all you need is a Google account. The downside, however, is that the Android app has limited font styles and doesn't let you add slide transitions. For those extras, you'll need to open your presentation in the web app on a computer.

Microsoft Powerpoint

PowerPoint sample presentation

Microsoft PowerPoint is most people's go-to presentation platform, and for good reason. The mobile app mirrors the look and functionality of its desktop and web counterparts, so you won't have a hard time navigating and using the platform. You'll find nearly all the editing tools you'd expect from the desktop and web apps, including layout adjustments, text formatting, drawing capabilities, themes, transitions, animations, and review and view modes for inserting comments and notes. Even the handy search functionality is featured in the mobile app. PowerPoint also syncs to your OneDrive in real-time (provided you're connected to the internet), making it pretty easy to switch editing between your phone and computer.

Similar to desktop and web apps, the PowerPoint mobile app allows you to present directly on your device in full-screen, complete with extra presentation aids. There's an ink tool for live annotations that you can choose to keep in the file like drawings. The app also offers a button to display a blank screen, a handy tool for Q&A sessions, or when you're using PowerPoint for quizzes and need to temporarily hide questions from students.

Downloading the PowerPoint mobile app is free, but there's a catch: if you're using a free personal account, you can only view presentations you've previously made using the desktop/web app. You can't create a new presentation or edit existing ones without subscribing to a premium plan first.

WPS sample presentation

One of the affordable alternatives for Microsoft Word , WPS Office comes complete with a presentation maker and editor too. What makes it stand out from other presentation apps is its extensive collection of templates, sorted into neat categories like education, business, nature, minimal, work report, album, and medical. You can choose from at least 70 templates for education-related presentations, 40 templates for business presentations, and 30 templates for work reports, most of which are free to edit. Speaking of editing, WPS Office includes most of the standard tools you need. There are text styling features, transitions, animations, and layout options. You can also insert different extra content like a picture, background music, audio, video, shape, table, and chart into your slides.

On the other hand, WPS Office's presentation tools are beyond the basics. You can opt to auto-play your presentation for convenience, selectively hide or show certain slides, and annotate the slides with the ink tool. Another handy presentation feature is the PPT Recorder which allows you to record your presentation in full-screen, complete with audio and ink annotations. There's also a Miracast option right within the app, so you can readily cast the presentation to a bigger screen.

WPS Office is free to download and use, but you do need to sign into an account to create a presentation. If you feel like the free account is too basic, feel free to upgrade to WPS Pro which comes with extra features like document merging, image-to-PDF converter, PDF editor, document recovery, and bigger cloud space.

Canva sample presentation

While you probably know Canva as a free photo editing app for Android, it's actually an excellent platform for creating and editing presentations on mobile as well. However, you'll notice it doesn't quite echo the vibe of Google Slides, PowerPoint, or WPS Office as its interface is a world away from the three (but you really won't need to spend days getting the hang of it, thanks to its intuitive and user-friendly design). Canva's customizable templates are also different from other presentation apps not only because they come in varied styles (e.g., elegant, corporate, pastel), themes (e.g., game, brainstorm, quiz), and colors but also because you can pick from more than one size (16:9, 4:3, or mobile-first).

Another thing that sets Canva apart is its app integrations. There are apps that allow you to create a QR code, use photos from Pixabay or Pexels, turn a photo into an anime-style graphic, and even translate text all within Canva. Beyond the typical photos and videos, Canva also lets you insert other fancy elements like AI-generated images, pre-made graphics, and charts into your presentation without needing to import them from your local storage. And yes, you can also run your presentation straight from the app. All of these neat features, however, are only accessible when you're connected to the internet. You can't use Canva offline.

Canva is free, but there's a Pro tier for those looking for other advanced features like image background remover, file resizer, and access to Pro templates.

Presentation Creator

Presentation Creator sample presentation

Presentation Creator is similar to Canva in several ways, especially when it comes to user interface and features. Moving away from the familiar style of traditional presentation apps like PowerPoint or Google Slides, its UI leans more towards the feel of a photo editor. Its features also resemble that of photo editors, much like Canva. You'll find an element tab featuring dozens of graphics and line drawings, a text tab allowing you to add simple text, text within graphics, or AI-generated content, and a video tab letting you insert videos from YouTube, Google Photos, or your gallery. There's also an images tab providing you access not only to stock photos but also pictures from your storage and third-party sources like Facebook, Google Photos, and Google Drive.

Another nifty thing about Presentation Creator is that you can download your slides as JPG, PNG, or PDF, with options to use a transparent background if you prefer. Like other presentation apps, you can also present your slides within Presentation Creator. However, the presentation tools are pretty basic, with only the option to display the slides full screen and show or hide the next slides.

You only need to sign up for an account to use Presentation Creator, but to access more features like more stock images, background remover, AI content writer, and PDF editor, among many others, you need to upgrade to the Pro+.

There is a presentation mode with speaker notes. You can present all the slides from your smartphone directly. The templates are pretty basic and nothing compared to what I saw in Keynotes. Slides biggest strength is real-time collaboration and how it makes it dead simple to make presentations.

  • Fonts, colors, images
  • Share, collaborate, comment
  • Presentation view
  • Simple and easy to use
  • No native client for Windows, macOS
  • Only syncs to Google Drive
  • Lacks advanced animations and graphics

5. Haiku Deck

Haiku Deck will completely change the way you create, edit, share, and present slides. With an Instagram like interface, Haiku will give you instant access to over 40 million stock images. That’s a lot.  It connects with a number of social media sites to import images from there as well.

haiku deck presentation app

Haiku Deck offers beautiful templates that are clutter-free and are designed with their own custom font. There is an option to insert pie or bar chart on the fly. Just insert the values and choose a location. Text will be aligned and spaced automatically so you don’t have to do it manually. AI at its best and a real time saver. On the flip side, Haiku Deck won’t allow you to make design choices, keeping things a little inflexible. Pricing begins at $9.99 per month. Too bad it works on Apple devices only.

  • Stock photos
  • Automatic text alignment, spacing
  • Templates, charts,
  • Share, collaborate
  • Can’t work offline
  • Not flexible

6. Remote for PowerPoint Keynote

Creating good presentations is not the only task that you will have to undertake. Once the presentation has been made, you will to literally ‘give it’. That’s where Remote for PowerPoint Keynote comes into the picture. As the name suggests, the app connects with Microsoft PowerPoint and Apple Keynote, allowing you to control your presentation using your smartphone.

remote presentation for android ios

Instead of using a presenter device, you can simply use your smartphone now. You can also view your presenter notes on the smartphone screen, and read it out loud. There is support for Bluetooth and WiFi as well as IPv6. It also comes with a mouse mode where the app will show a virtual mouse you can use to control the slides movement.

Download Remote for PowerPoint Keynote: Android | iOS

Prezi works differently then traditional presentation apps that we saw earlier above. Instead of showing slides one by one, Prezi will show the entire presentation as a video where different parts will be zoomed in. This creates an interesting effect. The animation effect is pretty cool.

prezi presentation app

Because Prezi is also on your smartphone, you don’t have to turn back and look at the screen every now and then. Just glance at your phone to view the slide, and slide notes, and carry on. Other features like sharing and collaborating are all there. Pricing begins at $5 per month.

Download Prezi: Android | iOS

Presentation Apps for Android and iOS

If you are looking for an app that’s simple to use and gets the job done, Google Slides is a great choice. It’s got everything you need and is completely free. If you need a little more control and some extra tools with cross-platform capabilities and desktop clients, Microsoft PowerPoint is the best. Hardcore Apple users should go for Keynote because it’s got killer animations. Haiku Deck got the largest collection of stock photos and connects with every social media site out there.

If you have a presentation coming up,  you can use this website to get free design templates.

2. Google Slides

presentation apps - Google-slides

Everyone has heard of Google, right? So it’s no surprise that Google Slides is one of the more popular presentation apps and PowerPoint alternatives available.

But popular does not always mean best. While the service is free to any Google account holder, its slide layouts are basic at best and its design capabilities are extremely limited.

presentation apps - Google Slides home page

However, if you need a quick and to-the-point presentation, Google Slides can be a great option since it’s free and has next to no learning curve. If you’ve used PowerPoint, you know how to use Google Slides.

  • Free for anyone with a Google account.
  • Easy to use for creating a basic presentation.
  • Users can collaborate in real time and make comments and edits throughout the slides.
  • Integrate with all Google workspaces, including Google Meet.
  • Limited design capabilities.
  • Essentially a PowerPoint clone.

presentation apps - prezi

Another popular presentation app is Prezi. The main feature that Prezi is known for is allowing its users to easily create non-linear presentations.

This type of presentation can be highly engaging for your audience because instead of side-to-side transitions, you can create a pan and zoom effect each time you switch over to another slide.

presentation app - Prezi homepage

While this type of presentation can be a fun change of pace for your audience, Prezi’s slide design options are not very visually appealing, and non-linear presentations can still be created in many other presentation makers by linking slides.

Prezi templates are also an excellent starting point for creating stunning presentations.

  • Can create engaging and non-linear presentations.
  • Embed interactive elements like video and audio into your presentations.
  • Can only create non-linear presentations, which can actually cause motion sickness in some viewers.
  • Non-linear presentations can also be created in other presentation software, making the need for Prezi obsolete.

presentation apps - Canva

Canva is a well-known cloud-based graphic design software , but it's not too popular for presentations. While it still has the “capabilities” for presentation design, it's main focus is on social media graphics.

As a creative presentation app, it offers a few visually appealing slide templates and you can create designs in the correct presentation dimensions.

presentation app - Canva homepage

There are a few static chart options and Canva also has tons of graphic elements to choose from, such as photos, shapes and icons, so you can still create static presentations in their software.

  • Beautiful premade presentation templates to choose from.
  • Graphic elements like photos, shapes and icons to spice up your design.
  • No content blocks or slide library available to save larger pieces of content and reuse later.

5. Venngage

presentation apps - venngage

Venngage is first and foremost an infographic maker.

Similarly to Canva, they have added basic capabilities for creating presentations , but their design dashboard isn’t nearly as robust as some other presentation apps and software on this list.

While there are a number of presentation templates available for each of their plans, Venngage also doesn’t offer any type of animation or transition features for moving from slide to slide.

presentation app - Venngage homepage

When it comes to creating a presentation, Venngage is in the same boat as Canva. Both certainly can be used to create a presentation, but they aren’t ideal, and they don’t offer as many features as a presentation app meant for building slideshows.

  • Well-designed templates to get you started on your presentation design.
  • Icons and photos to choose from for use in your slideshow.
  • Not created with presentations in mind, so while it’s possible to create one, it’s not ideal.

6. Beautiful.ai

The Beautiful AI logo against a white background

Beautiful.ai is a presentation maker that was created to focus on presentation design, like Visme. But while it’s meant for creating presentations, it doesn’t offer full-range design capabilities.

Instead, you’re given eight different themes with about 60 slide layouts to choose from that keep elements snapped into place, regardless of how you might want to customize your slides.

presentation app - Beautiful.ai

While this software is a great way to “stay in the lines,” per se, with your presentation design, it doesn’t allow you to design your presentation the way you want. If you’re trying to create a slide that falls outside of their parameters, you’re stuck.

  • Visually appealing templates and slide layouts to choose from in your presentation.
  • Easy to use drag-and-drop editor that allows you to quickly slide your points around on your slide to re-order them.
  • Don’t have full-range design capabilities on your slide. You’re stuck only designing in the areas the software lets you design in.
  • No free plans. Basic plan starts at $12 a month.

7. Slidebean

presentation apps - slidebean

Slidebean advertises itself as an AI-powered presentation maker. It allows users to separate the content and design of its slides, inputting content in one section and adjusting the slide design in a separate area.

When creating a presentation in Slidebean, once you add your content into the text boxes, you can switch over to the design section and have their AI automatically assemble your content pieces around the page in a way that makes sense.

presentation app - Slidebean

You’re also able to refresh different AI designs until you find one that you like. Although this can be helpful for those who don’t really want to worry about their design, it is extremely limited, and they don’t have a lot of templates to choose from.

As one of the best business presentation apps, their templates also focus on startups and entrepreneurs , so if your presentation doesn’t have that focus, your selection is limited.

  • No need to worry about design at all.
  • It’s a comprehensive pitching tool for entrepreneurs, not just a presentation maker.
  • Doesn’t give you full range of design capabilities.
  • Has limited templates.

8. Infogram

presentation apps - infogram

Infogram is another cloud-based graphic design software that tries to do everything, including presentations, but really wasn’t built for that specific purpose.

There are less than 50 available premade templates and they aren’t very well designed. Redeeming qualities include the fact that animation and transition features are available, as well as data visualization tools .

presentation app - Infogram

While there are icons and photos to choose from, most of them are premium and not available for use in the free plan.

  • Animation and transitions available for your slideshows.
  • Charts and graphs to add into your slides.
  • Limited presentation templates available.
  • Many graphic elements are premium only.

9. Zoho Show

Presentation apps - Zoho Show logo

Looking for good presentation editing apps? Zoho Show is one you should take a look at.

Zoho Show is a presentation-making app from the Zoho family of Work and Business apps. What once was a simple presentation maker is now a full-fledged collaboration tool for making presentations with impact. Zoho presentations can be static or animated; the level of interactivity is up to you.

Presentation apps - Zoho Show home page

Create and share Show presentations on any Mac or PC plus device using iOS and Android operating systems. Zoho Show also has many integrations with other apps for better productivity. The minimalistic UI is a positive addition to the editor.

Use on any device. Mac, PC, iOS, Android. Large selection of premade templates for every industry. Available to create both online and offline. Lots of integrations.

It makes more sense to use the Zoho suite than Show on its own. You can’t buy just Show; subscriptions are for groups of apps. Not enough data visualization features.

10. Haiku Deck

presentation apps - Haiku

Haiku Deck is a web and mobile-based app that allows you to create and edit presentations. It works well for making some on-the-go edits to a presentation you’ve previously created.

Presentation apps - Haiku Deck home page

You can even download the app onto your smartphone or tablet to create full presentation decks straight from your mobile device. It also syncs presentations between your computer and phone apps, making it easy to create and edit in different areas.

The biggest caveat is that its presentation template design is outdated and not very pretty.

  • Syncs between your desktop and mobile apps, allowing you to create and edit in different areas.
  • Presentation templates are not professionally designed.
  • Design dashboard is outdated.

11. Keynote

presentation apps - keynote

Keynote is another presentation editing app that offers both desktop and mobile versions. It’s exclusively available for iOS smartphones, tablets and computers as it’s the Apple version of PowerPoint.

You can create presentations right on your mobile device and get them ready to present on your computer, which can be handy.

Presentation apps - Keynote home page

You can download the app from the Apple App Store for $9.99. It does come on most Macs and Macbooks automatically, but you’ll have to purchase it for your smartphone or tablet.

  • Allows you to create and edit presentations on both your mobile device and computer.
  • Keynote is designed for Mac. To use it on PC, you need a workaround.
  • Similar to PowerPoint, so it doesn’t really focus on the design of your presentation, just gives you the ability to create one.

12. Flowvella

presentation apps - Flowvella

Flowvella is a downloadable desktop and mobile app that allows you to create interactive presentations wherever and whenever you need to. While it’s a fast and efficient app, it lacks some of the features any good presentation needs.

Since it’s a downloadable app, users are able to work on their presentations without WiFi.

It creates an online link for you to present your slideshow from any device, and offers analytics for you to see who has viewed your presentation.

  • Has offline editing capabilities.
  • Has analytics for you to view presentation performance.
  • Used by museums for interactive displays.
  • Must have space on your phone or computer to download the app.
  • Simple technology with outdated features.

Presentation apps - Pitch logo

The app has integrations with other platforms like Chart Mogul and Brandfetch. Presentations on pro plans have analytics features and better image and video capabilities.

  • Lots of beautiful templates to choose from.
  • Pricing is affordable

Presentations are all you can create on Pitch.

14. Showpad

Presentation apps - Showpad logo

Showpad is another app that works well for sales teams. It allows users to put together various types of content and share it with a tablet user for them to scroll through and annotate.

This can be very useful for sales reps that are on the go with meetings and appointments , so they can easily share their screens with potential customers and walk them through the process.

Presentation apps - Showpad home page

The app is available on both Android and Apple devices, so there aren’t limitations to which smartphones and tablets will have access.

  • Can share and annotate various types of content on the go.
  • Caters to sales teams, so it isn’t an all-in-one presentation maker.

15. SlideShare

Presentation apps - Slideshare logo

LinkedIn’s SlideShare app is a great way to share and view presentation content on the go. You can create your presentation in any online software, like Visme , export it and upload it onto SlideShare.

You can then use the mobile app to share your presentation and help get the word out. You can also view other presentations and learn more about a certain topic.

Presentation apps - Slideshare home page

There are millions of professional presentations that have been published on SlideShare, so it’s a great community of slideshows to watch and save.

  • Great for viewing and sharing your presentations.
  • Provides an embed code for sharing on your website.
  • There are millions of presentations published on the platform, so you’ll have to do a lot of self-promoting to get yours seen.

presentation apps - Vyond logo

If you’re looking for apps for online presentation but with advanced video capabilities, here’s a great pick.

Vyond is a video presentation app with solutions for all industries and education. If you’re looking for a simple presentation, Vyond isn’t for you. This app creates engaging video presentations with talking characters and moving parts. Each slide is an animated scene, and they all come together as a group to make an animated video.

presentation apps - Vyond home page

Choose characters, scene backgrounds and props from a large library of design assets. Use their text to speech feature to add easy voiceovers and narrations. Collaborate with your team to create video presentations for sales, training, pitching and more.

  • Making animated presentation videos is easy.
  • The features and editing controls don’t have a high learning curve.
  • Monthly fees are high
  • You can’t create anything else apart from video presentations.

17. Presentation Timer

presentation apps - timer pro

Presentation Timer can be helpful both during your prep time and actual presentation time. This app lets you set a timer for how long your presentation will be and it will change the screen color based on how much speaking time you have left.

Using an app like this can be very helpful when you’re rehearsing your content so that you don’t go over on time, and you know which anecdotes you can fit in.

Just make sure when you’re giving your actual presentation, you can see your phone screen so you’ll know when you’re running out of time.

  • Gives you a heads up when you’re getting close to the end of your speaking time.
  • You have to be within eyeshot of your phone, so you won’t be able to do much moving around the stage or speaking area.

Choose Your Favorite Presentation Apps

There you go. We’ve rounded up some of the best apps for presentations. Which one of the desktop and mobile presentation apps is your favorite?

10 best office apps for Android to get work done

Published on March 21, 2024

Best office apps from Microsoft

Office apps have been a valuable center of productivity for many years. We use them for various purposes, including drafting documents, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and tracking what’s happening. No productivity suite is complete without them; virtually everybody, even kids, uses them.

The office suite atmosphere has changed very little in the last several years. Existing apps have improved in that time, but it takes a monumental release to usurp the champions in the office space. Other than some minor rebranding, most of the stuff here is the same as it was five years ago. Here are the best office apps for Android at the moment. We also have separate lists for spreadsheet apps , word apps , and presentation apps if you want to view your options at a more granular level.

The best office apps for Android

Andropen office, google drive (google workspace), microsoft office, microsoft remote desktop, officesuite, polaris office, collabora office, document reader, wps office and pdf.

Price: Free

AndrOpen Office is the first Android port of the popular OpenOffice. It comes with a full suite of office apps, including a word processor, a spreadsheet function, a presentation app, etc. You also get a drawing app and an equation editor (for your spreadsheets). There isn’t much to talk about, honestly. It supports most file types you would run into throughout your average life and plenty of niche file types. The editors and processors are more than powerful enough for most stuff. Plus, it’s entirely open-source and free. It does feature cloud storage support for Google Drive, Box.com, Dropbox, OneDrive, and your hardware if you have it. It’s a strong free option, even if there are a few bugs here and there.

Docs to Go is an older but established office app that’s been around for quite some time. It’s still receiving new features and updates. It has the basics, such as word processing, spreadsheet editing, and presentation editing. It does an excellent job of letting you do these things without too much setup. The paid version unlocks password-locked files, saves to (and loads from) cloud storage sites, and syncs with your desktop. It’s not great in every situation, but it’s one of the more solid office apps.

Google Drive screenshot 2020

Google Drive is a favorite among our readers. It has a whole suite of office apps, including a PDF Viewer, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Drive. The drive serves as the hub. It’s just a cloud storage app where you can view your files or make new ones. Opening any document in your Google Drive will automatically open the appropriate app. It’s all completely free unless you need to expand your Google Drive space.

Google recently made its Google Workspace offering free. It adds additional features and integrations into Gmail and includes things like a chat function. It may be a bit much for personal use, and we can’t guarantee that it’ll remain free forever. However, it’s still an excellent overall option, and it’s free for right now, at least.

Microsoft 365 screenshot 2023

Microsoft took its sweet time publishing its Office apps to mobile. They instantly became among the best once they were. You can download Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for free. Most of their functionality is available without paying a dime. You can open and save files, use most editing tools, and more. Those files can be synced to your desktop via OneDrive. You can get an Office 365 subscription which will unlock some additional features. However, it’s not necessary for the basics.

Microsoft Remote Desktop screenshot 2021

Microsoft Remote Desktop is basically what the name says. It lets you remotely control your Microsoft PC from your mobile device. It takes a bit to set up. You must get your PC ready for remote access and connect it with this app. However, after that, you can do basically whatever you want. That includes accessing your office software on your actual computer. It’s a weird workaround but a completely legitimate one. Chrome Remote Desktop is another excellent app that does the same thing. Microsoft Remote Desktop doesn’t work well on Chromebooks yet, but keep an eye out for future updates that may add that functionality. Microsoft recently retired the previous version of this, so we’ve updated the link to the new one.

Price: Free / $99.99

OfficeSuite is a long-time favorite for many people. The app has changed a lot from its early days. The developers seem to be transitioning the suite into something closer to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. That way, they have a cloud storage solution in the office environment. Most of the basic features are available in the free version, and that’s good news. The paid version allows for PDF scanning, a font pack that’s compatible with Microsoft, a spell checker, and additional document support. It’s one of the better run-of-the-mill office apps. It is also among the most expensive. The pro version costs $99.99 and is a single payment option, not a subscription.

Price: Free / $3.99 – $20.99 per month

Polaris Office is a lot like OfficeSuite. It used to be a good, simple office suite. The app isn’t simple or small anymore. It has many features, including the basics, note-taking, document searching, encrypted files, and support for various formats. That includes PDF and Microsoft documents. The free version is serviceable if you can stand the somewhat annoying adverts. You can also get $3.99 and $5.99 per month subscriptions. That gives you additional features like using it on over three devices and extra cloud storage. The subscription models aren’t great, but the free version is okay for simple stuff as long as you don’t mind adverts.

collabora office

WPS Office was once called Kingsoft Office. Despite the name change, it remains one of Android’s most popular office apps. Some features include viewing and converting PDFs, doing the basics (documents, spreadsheets, presentations), and more. It also comes with support for wireless printing, support for Microsoft file types, and support for 46 languages. WPS is among the best free office apps. There is an optional subscription that includes things like cloud storage, but it’s not necessary if you are already using Google Drive or other solutions.

The best presentation software in 2024

These powerpoint alternatives go beyond the basics..

Hero image with logos of the best presentation software

The latest presentation apps have made it easier than ever to format slides and create professional-looking slideshows without giving off a "this is a template" vibe. Even standard PowerPoint alternatives have updated key features to make it easier than ever to collaborate and create presentations quickly, so you can spend more time prepping for your actual presentation.

If, like me, you've used Google Slides unquestioningly for years, it's a whole new world out there. The newest crop of online presentation tools go way beyond the classic slideshow experience, with new features to keep your audience's attention, streamline the creation process with AI, and turn slide decks into videos and interactive conversations.

I've been testing these apps for the past few years, and this time, I spent several days tinkering with 25 of the top presentation software solutions out there to bring you the best of the best.

The best presentation software

What makes the best presentation app, how we evaluate and test apps.

When looking for the best presentation apps, I wanted utility players. After all, slideshows are used for just about everything, from pitch decks and product launches to class lectures and church sermons. With that in mind, here's what I was looking for:

Pre-built templates. The best presentation tools should have attractive, professional-looking templates to build presentations in a hurry.

Sharing and collaboration options. Whether you plan to share your webinar slides later, or you just want to collaborate with a coworker on a presentation, it should be easy to share files and collaborate in real-time.

Flexibility and customization options. Templates are great, but top presentation apps should enable you to customize just about everything—giving you the flexibility to build exactly what you need.

Affordability. Creating compelling presentations is important, but you shouldn't have to bust your budget to make it happen. With capable free tools on the market, affordability is a top consideration.

Standalone functionality. There's no reason to use multiple tools when one can do it all, so I didn't test any apps that require and work on top of another presentation app like PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Familiar, deck-based interface. For our purposes here, I only tested software that uses slides, with the familiar deck-based editor you expect from a "presentation" tool (versus, for example, a video creation app).

Beyond that, I also looked for presentation apps that brought something unique to the table—features above and beyond what you can get for free from a legacy solution like PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Here's what my testing workflow looked like:

I went through any onboarding or guided tutorials.

I created a new deck, scanning through all available templates, noting how well-designed they were (and which were free versus paid).

I added new slides, deleted slides, edited text and images, and played around with other content types.

I changed presentation design settings, like color schemes and background images.

I reviewed and tested the sharing and collaboration options.

I tested out presenter view (when available).

After my first round of testing, I went back into the top performers to test any unique or niche features, like AI, brand settings, and interactive content. With that, these are the best presentation apps I found—each one really brings something different or radically easy to the table.

Canva, our pick for the best free presentation app

Canva pros:

Excellent free plan

Tons of amazing templates for all use cases

Feature-rich

Canva cons:

The AI tools aren't groundbreakingly useful

Canva offers one of the most robust free plans of all the presentation apps I tested. The app delays account creation until after you've created your first design, so you can get started building your presentation in seconds. Choose from an almost overwhelming number of beautiful templates (nearly all available for free), including those designed specifically for education or business use cases.

Anyone who's accidentally scrolled too far and been bumped to the next slide will appreciate Canva's editor interface, which eliminates that problem altogether with a smooth scroll that doesn't jump around. Choose from a handful of preset animations to add life to your presentations, or browse the library of audio and video files available to add. And Canva also has a number of options for sharing your presentation, including adding collaborators to your team, sharing directly to social media, and even via QR code.

Present directly from Canva, and let audience members submit their questions via Canva Live. Once you share a link to invite audience members to your presentation, they can send questions for you to answer. As the presenter, you'll see them pop up in your presenter view window, so you can keep the audience engaged and your presentation clear. Alternatively, record a presentation with a talking head bubble—you can even use an AI presenter here—to share remotely.

Canva pricing: Free plan available; paid plans start at $120/year for 1 user and include additional features like Brand Kit, premium templates and stock assets, and additional AI-powered design tools.

Beautiful.ai pros:

True AI design

No fussing around with alignment

Still allows for customization

Beautiful.ai cons:

No free plan

If you're like me, editing granular spacing issues is the absolute worst part of building a presentation. Beautiful.ai uses artificial intelligence to take a lot of the hassle and granular design requirements out of the presentation process, so you can focus on the content of a presentation without sacrificing professional design. If I needed to make presentations on a regular basis, this is the app I'd use.

Many apps have recently added AI design features, but Beautiful.ai has been doing it for years—and they've perfected the experience of AI design, ensuring the tool's reign as the most streamlined and user-friendly option for AI design.

The editor is a little different from most presentation apps, but it's still intuitive—and you'll start off with a quick two-minute tutorial. When creating a new slide, scroll through "inspiration slides" to find a layout you like; once you choose, the app will pull the layout and automatically adapt it to match the design of the rest of your presentation.

With 10 themes, several templated slides, over 40 fully-designed templates, and more than 20 different color palettes to choose from, Beautiful.ai strikes a perfect balance between automation and customization.

While Beautiful.ai doesn't offer a free plan, paid plans are reasonably priced and offer sharing and collaboration options that rival collab-focused apps like Google Slides. And speaking of Google, you can connect Beautiful.ai with Google Drive to save all your presentations there.

Note: I re-tested the generative AI feature (called DesignerBot) this year. It's great for adding individual slides to an existing presentation—automatically choosing the best layout and matching the design to the rest of the deck—but as with most other apps, it struggled to pull in relevant images.

Beautiful.ai pricing: Plans start at $12/month for unlimited slides, AI content generation, viewer analytics, and more. Upgrade to a Team plan for $40/user/month to get extra collaboration and workspace features and custom brand controls.

Prezi pros:

Doesn't restrict you to standard presentation structure

Lots of customization options

Prezi Video lets you display a presentation right over your webcam video

Prezi cons:

Steep learning curve

Struggling to squeeze information into a basic, linear presentation? Give Prezi a try. Unlike nearly all other presentation apps on the market, Prezi Present doesn't restrict the structure of your presentation to a straight line. The editor focuses on topics and subtopics and allows you to arrange them any way you want, so you can create a more conversational flow of information.

With the structural flexibility, you still get all the same customization features you expect from top presentation software, including fully-editable templates. There's a learning curve if you're unfamiliar with non-linear presentations, but templates offer a great jumping-off point, and Prezi's editor does a good job of making the process more approachable.

Plus, Prezi comes with two other apps: Prezi Design and Prezi Video. Prezi Video helps you take remote presentations to a new level. You can record a video where the presentation elements are displayed right over your webcam feed. Record and save the video to share later, or connect with your video conferencing tool of choice (including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet) to present live.

Prezi's generative AI feature works ok, but it's more useful as a wireframe. When I asked it to create a presentation about the Stanley Cup Playoffs, for example, the resulting content read a lot like a student writing a term paper in the broadest strokes possible to avoid doing any actual research.

Powtoon pros:

Timing automatically changes based on the content on the slide

Can toggle between slideshow and video

Can orient presentation as horizontal, vertical, or square

Powtoon cons:

Limited free plan

Powtoon makes it easy to create engaging videos by orienting the editor around a slide deck. Editing a Powtoon feels just like editing a presentation, but by the time you finish, you have a professional video.

You can edit your slides at any time, and when you hit play, a video plays through your deck—the feel is almost like an animated explainer video. Each slide includes the animations you choose and takes up as much time as is needed based on the content on the slide. Powtoon figures the timing automatically, and you can see in the bottom-right of the editor how much time is used on your current slide versus the total presentation. If you ever want to present as a slide deck, just toggle between Slideshow and Movie.

You'll likely need to subscribe to a paid plan to get the most out of Powtoon—like creating videos longer than three minutes, downloading them as MP4 files, and white-labeling your presentations—but doing so won't break the bank. Plus, you'll unlock tons of templates complete with animations and soundtracks.

One of my favorite Powtoon features is the ability to orient your video: you can choose horizontal orientation (like a normal presentation) or opt for vertical (for mobile) or square (for social media). When your presentation is ready, you can publish straight to YouTube, Wistia, Facebook Ads, and any number of other locations.

Pitch, our pick for the best presentation software for collaborating with your team

Pitch pros:

Google levels of collaboration

Assign slides to specific team members

Excellent generative AI feature

Pitch cons:

User interface is a little different than you're used to

Need to collaborate on presentations with your team? Pitch is a Google Slides alternative that gets the job done. As far as decks go, Pitch includes all the beautifully-designed templates, customizability, and ease of use you expect from a top-notch presentation tool. But the app really shines when you add your team.

The right-hand sidebar is all about project management and collaboration: you can set and update the status of your deck, assign entire presentations or individual slides to team members, plus comment or add notes. Save custom templates to make future presentations even easier and faster.

You can also invite collaborators from outside your company to work with you on individual decks. And if you opt for a paid plan, Pitch introduces workspace roles, shared private folders, and version history.

Pitch also offers one of the most impressive generative AI features on this list. It still struggles to pull in relevant images, but I found the AI-generated written content and design to be top-notch.

Gamma pros:

Creates fully fleshed-out presentations from a prompt

Conversational chatbot-like experience

Can still manually edit the presentation

Gamma cons:

Not as much granular customization

I tested a lot of apps claiming to use AI to up your presentation game, and Gamma's conversational AI features were head and shoulders above the crowd.

Simply give the app a topic—or upload an outline, notes, or any other document or article—approve the outline, and pick a theme. The app will take it from there and create a fully fleshed-out presentation. It's far from perfect, but Gamma produces a very useful jumping-off point. (Last year, it was by far the best, but this year, other apps are catching up.)

Here's the key: Gamma is much more geared toward the iterative, chatbot experience familiar to ChatGPT users. Click on the Edit with AI button at the top of the right-hand menu to open the chat, and you'll see suggested prompts—or you can type in your own requests for how Gamma should alter the presentation.

Once you've done all you can with prompts, simply close the chat box to manually add the finishing touches. While you do sacrifice some granular customizability in exchange for the AI features, you can still choose your visual theme, change slide layouts, format text, and add any images, videos, or even app and web content.

Mentimeter, our pick for the best presentation software for audience engagement

Mentimeter pros:

Tons of audience engagement features

Simple for participants to interact

Mentimeter cons:

Less granular customizability

Bit of a learning curve

If you need to engage with an audience during your presentation, Mentimeter makes that easy. The app is designed around interactive elements like quizzes, surveys, Q&As, sliders, and more (even a Miro whiteboard!).

Each of these is included in a number of different, professional-looking templates, so you can build a fully interactive presentation super quickly.

When it's time to present, your audience members can scan the QR code with their phone cameras or type in the URL and access code to participate. There's one code per presentation (so they won't have to do this on every slide), which gives access to each slide as you move through the presentation.

There are two main drawbacks to this one, though. First, there's a bit of a learning curve and less familiar editing interface (but I found it pretty easy to learn with some practice). The other drawback is that you can't get as granular with the visual customization as you can with many other presentation tools.

Tome, our pick for the best presentation software for generative AI

Top-tier generative AI features

Simple, customizable templates

Intuitive doc-style editor

There's definitely a learning curve

Tome is one of the new additions to this list that I'm most excited about. If you're looking for generative AI that just genuinely works , it's definitely worth a look. The editor is a bit more stripped down than most presentation apps but intuitive nonetheless—it's almost a cross between your standard deck editor and a Notion-style doc.

To generate an AI deck, click Generate with AI in the top right, and either write your own prompt or choose from the example prompts that cover a handful of common use cases, like sales enablement and company pitches. Edit or approve the suggested outline, then generate the full presentation.

From there, you can edit each slide as a doc via the right-hand menu—without limits on how much information you can include. During the presentation, you simply size down any slides that take up more than the standard amount of space. It's super simple but somehow feels revolutionary in a presentation app.

What about the old standbys?

You might notice a few major presentation players aren't on this list, including OGs Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, and Google Slides. These apps are perfectly adequate for creating basic presentations, and they're free if you have a Windows or Mac device or a Google account.

I didn't include them on the list because the presentation space has really developed in the last several years, and after testing them out, I found these behemoths haven't kept pace. If they weren't made by Microsoft/Apple/Google, I might not even be mentioning them. They're pretty basic tools, they're behind the curve when it comes to templates (both quantity and design), and they don't offer any uniquely valuable features like robust team collaboration, branding controls, video, and so on.

In any case, if you're reading this, you're probably looking for an alternative that allows you to move away from one of the big 3, and as the presentation platforms featured above show, there's a ton to gain—in terms of features, usability, and more—when you do.

What about PowerPoint and Google Slides add-ons?

While I focused my testing on tools with full feature-sets—those that can serve as your sole presentation tool—there are a ton of add-on tools you can use atop big name tools like PowerPoint and Google Slides.

How to Use PowerPoint on an Android Smartphone – Basic Overview

How to Use PowerPoint on an Android Smartphone – Basic Overview

A lot of people use PowerPoint on their smartphones. As someone who’s had to complete work on my phone many times, I know just how much can be done on smartphones. Microsoft PowerPoint for Android offers a robust set of features that allow users to create, edit, and deliver presentations from their smartphones and tablets. In this article, we’ll take a look at a basic overview of using PowerPoint on an Android device.

Getting Started with PowerPoint on Android

Installation and Setup : First things first, download the Microsoft PowerPoint app from the Google Play Store. Once installed, you need to sign in with your Microsoft account to access your presentations across devices. The app supports both personal and organizational accounts, providing seamless integration with OneDrive and SharePoint.

The user interface is slightly different from what you would expect (if you’re familiar with PowerPoint on the PC). But this version of PowerPoint is very user-friendly. You can make presentations easily.

image

Creating Presentations on Android

Starting a New Presentation : To create a new presentation, tap the “+” button on the home screen.

image

You can now choose from various templates. PowerPoint for Android offers a range of professional templates to jumpstart your design process. You can also download templates from websites like SlideBazaar.com if you want more options.

Next up, you’ll be asked if you want to try the new outline view to create your presentation. I highly recommend that you try this out, since it makes presentation creation a lot easier on your Android smartphone.

image

After you select OK, you’ll reach the next step.

image

You can now structure your entire presentation in the Outline section. Add titles, paragraphs, headings, and enter the entire text of your presentation. Add new slides whenever you want. Once you’re done, select Next.

image

And just like that you have your first PowerPoint slide ready. It even adds a theme that suits your content. Wasn’t this a lot easier than you thought it was going to be?

Choose a different design if you need, press the pencil icon to go back to the outline, or press Save to go to the next step.

After clicking on Save, you get more options to edit the slides, add images, text, tables, shapes and more. It’s pretty intuitive and straightforward:

image

Click on the Edit button, and then you’ll get more options on editing and customizing your slide.

Slide Layouts

Click on the first icon on the bottom to enter the Layout menu. You can choose between the different layout options available, and use what you need.

image

Adding Transitions and Animations :

To add animations and transitions, first select a slide. Press the Pencil icon to enter the Edit menu. Once in the edit menu, select on the tiny up arrow on the bottom right side. This will bring a new menu:

image

Now tap on Home:

image

And now you get a ton of options. You can add transitions, animations, and so much more. Oncer you select a transition, you can even apply it to all your slides to make things easier.

Using Notes and Comments :

To add notes to your presentation tap on “Notes” at the bottom of the screen to add speaker notes for each slide. Youcanalso collaborate with team members by adding comments. Tap “Review” and select “New Comment” to provide feedback or ask questions.

Delivering Presentations from Your Android Device

PowerPoint for Android includes features to help you deliver presentations directly from your device as well. Use the “Slide Show” mode to present slides full-screen, and swipe to navigate through your presentation.

PowerPoint for Android has evolved into a powerful tool for creating, editing, and delivering presentations on the go. While it may not be as powerful as its counterpart, it provides you with enough features to comfortably create a presentation on your phone, no matter where you at. There are many ways you can still improve this workflow. For example, you could first browse through SlideBazaar, and find slide templates that you’d like to customize and then download them. Open these templates with the app, and simply add your content, and you’ll end up with a presentation that looks as good, if not better, as any presentation made on a computer/laptop. Well, that concludes this basic overview of PowerPoint on Android devices. I’ll be updating this article with more information soon, so bookmark this page and check again soon.

best powerpoint presentation on android

Working from home, on the train, in cafes, in hotel lobbies… Some of us have been doing it for years, but non-traditional working hours and locations are becoming more common as employers realise trapping people in the office from 9-5 doesn’t necessarily produce the best work. PowerPoint for Android is a version of PowerPoint you can use on your mobile device on the go to create, edit and present. Is it the answer to our changing working practices? Or is it a poor replacement for the full-fat version of PowerPoint we know and love?

Requirements

You’ll need a device with a screen size of 10.1 inches or less, 1 GB RAM or more, running any of the supported versions of Android and with an ARM-based or Intel x86 processor.

Getting started

It’s super easy to get started, simply download the app from Google Play then sign in with a mobile number, Microsoft account, or your Skype details. That’s it! You can then pull in any PowerPoint files on your OneDrive, your device or that have been shared with you. The changes you make to a file are synced across your account.

If you already have a Microsoft 365 subscription, sign in with your account and get access to ‘the full Microsoft Office experience’. If you don’t, you can upgrade for a month for free and test whether it’s worth shelling out for the extra functionality.

Creating and editing presentations with PowerPoint for Android

To create a presentation from scratch, tap the + icon in the top right-hand corner. Then choose where to save your new deck and pick a design style. Autosave is automatically turned on, so none of your changes will be lost.

PowerPoint for Android new presentation screen

To open an already existing PowerPoint, tap Open in the bottom right-hand corner and select the location of your file.

PowerPoint for Android Open presentation options

What immediately strikes me is how small everything is! If you’re not comfortable using a smartphone day-to-day – you keep hitting the wrong things or struggle to read small text – this might not be for you. To navigate around the workspace, use common touch gestures, such as using two fingers to zoom in and out of a slide.

Template

So, what can you do with PowerPoint for Android?

You can insert a variety of elements including tables, shapes (all the basic shapes from the desktop version except Freeform), lines, and images (from device or camera). With a 365 subscription you also have access to Smart Art graphics. Once you’ve inserted elements, you can format them in similar ways to the desktop version. Images can be cropped, and frames, shadow, reflection, and alt text added. You can change the size, colour, transparency etc. of shapes and add and edit text.

When you’re placing items on your slide, keep in mind that there are no alignment tools, you have to rely on smart guides to keep things neat. PowerPoint for Android has the usual Arrange tools (send to back, bring forward etc.), so you can arrange your slide in layers. You can also easily copy formatting from one object to another, this is super helpful for standardising decks quickly.

There are a few tools missing, such as a change picture option, and the Morph transition and PowerPoint Designer are not available with the free version of the app but on the whole, the app has everything you need.

My top tip for using PowerPoint for Android is, if you think you can’t do something, try tapping the light bulb icon and typing the action e.g. add audio.

best powerpoint presentation on android

This is where I found animations, font size, insert a link and more. It seems that a bunch of functionality is hidden here, accessible if you need it, but not wasting precious screen space.

Animation options

The app crashed for me a couple of times, but thanks to autosave my edits were safe and I could easily open the app back up and carry on, without disrupting my work flow too much.

Collaborative working

PowerPoint for Android seems geared to reviewing on-the-go. When you tap an element, you get cut/copy/paste options, then the very next action is New Comment . It’s very easy to add comments and with a 365 subscription you can tag people in your comments and read and respond to comments from your email. I can see this would be a great app for collaborative working, allowing you to review decks and make small edits on the go.

Presenting with PowerPoint for Android

If you have PowerPoint for Android installed, you can present both on and from your device.

To present on your device, simply tap the start slide show icon then swipe left to advance the slide and to trigger animations. Note: This icon starts the slide show from the slide you are on.

PowerPoint for Android how to present

in Slide Show mode there are annotation tools and the option to blank out the screen. Presenting wasn’t super intuitive; I kept wanting to tap, rather than swipe, when I knew there was an animation coming.

You can also present from your mobile device to a projector, using a HDMI cable, or to a screen that supports Miracast , Chromecast or AirPlay . If you have an Office 365 subscription, you’ll be able to view your speaker notes on your phone as you present. You can also use your phone as a laser pointer by resting your thumb on the notes section and moving the phone up/down, left/right to move the on-screen laser.

To add speaker notes, tap the menu in the top right-hand corner and select Notes.

PowerPoint for Android: Final thoughts

Obviously creating presentations with your fingers on a 5-inch screen is a bit fiddly and it’s difficult and time consuming to get elements placed accurately. It’s also more labour intensive to pull in content from other sources, unlike being on a desktop, you can’t have several tabs open in the same way. For these reasons I would advise against using the PowerPoint app to create presentations from scratch. You also miss out on great add-ins, such as BrightSlide , that help to speed up the design process. However, if you’re simply adding text into a pre-made template, making last minute edits on the fly or responding to colleagues’ comments this app could be really handy.

Microsoft Office all-in-one-app

PowerPoint for Android is available to download now. However, Microsoft have another mobile-centric offering on the horizon – the all-in-one Office app where users can access Word, Excel and PowerPoint in one place. The app was announced in November 2019 and promises extra functionality compared to the individual Office apps. For example, users can take a picture of a document and automatically turn it into a Word file. There will be new actions including creating a PDF, signing a PDF using your finger, and easily transferring files between different devices.

This app should significantly reduce the amount of space used on your phone compared to having the separate apps installed. To see screenshots, walkthroughs and to sign up for the public preview click here .

How to Open a PowerPoint Presentation on Android

Viewing PowerPoint files using an Android device has become easier than it was just a few years back. There are a number of easy methods that you can use to open a PowerPoint presentation on Android. We have listed a few of the most convenient methods below; which can enable you to seamlessly view and (in some cases) edit your PowerPoint presentations on Android devices.

Microsoft Office Apps for Android

With the mobile first, cloud first strategy, Microsoft has been delivering Office Applications for the major mobile OS’s. On 2015, it was launched the  Microsoft PowerPoint for Android . This release of the popular presentation software provides a comprehensive set of functionalities to create, edit and deliver presentations on the go. For devices with Android versions below 4.4, Microsoft delivered the Microsoft Office Mobile which enables users to view presentations in their phones. Both products are free to download and use and require a Microsoft Account.

PowerPoint Online

There are a number of online platforms which enable viewing PowerPoint presentations for free. These include cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box and more. For the best experience we recommend using PowerPoint Online . This is a web app from the Office Online family which enables creating, viewing, editing and presenting your PowerPoint presentations from an Internet connected browser.

The below screenshot shows the Creative Roadmap Concept PowerPoint Template running via PowerPoint Online web app on an Android browser. PowerPoint Online is the best suited presentation tool when you need to work with decks that make use of advanced PowerPoint features as 3D effects, gradients and animations as it preserves the experience generated with the Application version. You can use the online editor to open your presentation in different devices.

Google Slides

Other than PowerPoint Online, you can use Google Drive powered Google Slides app. This web app can either be directly accessed via a browser or you can simply get the Google Slides for Android app to get support for PowerPoint files on your Android device. With Google Slides you can create and edit presentations on the go, as well as view existing PowerPoint files.

The below screenshot shows the Mission and Vision PowerPoint Template running on the Google Slides app for Android.

SlideOnline

SlideOnline is a web app which supports PowerPoint and PDF files for instant conversion into shareable online slides. You can upload your PowerPoint presentations to SlideOnline and view them via an Internet connected device with a browser; including Android devices.

Files uploaded to SlideOnline can be viewed within an easy to navigate interface, where each slide can be seen using navigation buttons. You can also enable comments for user feedback for uploaded presentations. The uploaded files can be kept either public or private and you can share them online via direct link, social media buttons and embed code.

The below screenshot shows the Marketing 7C Compass PowerPoint Template uploaded to SlideOnline, running on an Android device via an internet browser.

Convert PowerPoint to PDF

If you don’t intend to use PowerPoint apps for Android, you can simply save your PowerPoint files to PDF format and view them using a PDF supported Android app. If you have PowerPoint installed on your computer, you can save your PowerPoint presentation files to PDF format via File –> Save As –> PDF . Otherwise, you can use PowerPoint Online and print the PowerPoint presentation into PDF.

To demonstrate the above mentioned functionality, we saved the Company Profile PowerPoint Template in PDF format and opened it using Android.

PowerPoint file converted to PDF for Android

Convert PowerPoint to Pictures

You can also export your PowerPoint slides as individual pictures, save them to a single folder and save the folder to your Android device. This way you can play your slides as images one by one.

You can save your PowerPoint in a preferred image format (e.g. JPG, BMP or GIF) via File –> Save As -> JPG / BMP / GIF  from PowerPoint.

We saved the Blue Dashboard PowerPoint Template in JPG format and opened the slides as images on Android. As you can see from the screenshot below, you can easily present your content as images on Android devices by converting your PowerPoint slides as JPG files.

Convert PowerPoint to Video

Another easy way of viewing your PowerPoint files on Android is to convert them to video format. PowerPoint 2013 supports conversion of PowerPoint slides to MP4 format, whereas older versions support conversion to WMV file format. To use the native video conversion function in PowerPoint, go to File –Save As –> MP4 or WMV .

Microsoft Office vs. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides: Which Is Best?

7 android security features you should be using, what network does google fi use, quick links, table of contents, start with a goal, less is more, consider your typeface, make bullet points count, limit the use of transitions, skip text where possible, think in color, take a look from the top down, bonus: start with templates.

Slideshows are an intuitive way to share complex ideas with an audience, although they're dull and frustrating when poorly executed. Here are some tips to make your Microsoft PowerPoint presentations sing while avoiding common pitfalls.

define a goal

It all starts with identifying what we're trying to achieve with the presentation. Is it informative, a showcase of data in an easy-to-understand medium? Or is it more of a pitch, something meant to persuade and convince an audience and lead them to a particular outcome?

It's here where the majority of these presentations go wrong with the inability to identify the talking points that best support our goal. Always start with a goal in mind: to entertain, to inform, or to share data in a way that's easy to understand. Use facts, figures, and images to support your conclusion while keeping structure in mind (Where are we now and where are we going?).

I've found that it's helpful to start with the ending. Once I know how to end a presentation, I know how best to get to that point. I start by identifying the takeaway---that one nugget that I want to implant before thanking everyone for their time---and I work in reverse to figure out how best to get there.

Your mileage, of course, may vary. But it's always going to be a good idea to put in the time in the beginning stages so that you aren't reworking large portions of the presentation later. And that starts with a defined goal.

avoid walls of text

A slideshow isn't supposed to include everything. It's an introduction to a topic, one that we can elaborate on with speech. Anything unnecessary is a distraction. It makes the presentation less visually appealing and less interesting, and it makes you look bad as a presenter.

This goes for text as well as images. There's nothing worse, in fact, than a series of slides where the presenter just reads them as they appear. Your audience is capable of reading, and chances are they'll be done with the slide, and browsing Reddit, long before you finish. Avoid putting the literal text on the screen, and your audience will thank you.

use better fonts

Right off the bat, we're just going to come out and say that Papyrus and Comic Sans should be banned from all PowerPoint presentations, permanently. Beyond that, it's worth considering the typeface you're using and what it's saying about you, the presenter, and the presentation itself.

Consider choosing readability over aesthetics, and avoid fancy fonts that could prove to be more of a distraction than anything else. A good presentation needs two fonts: a serif and sans-serif. Use one for the headlines and one for body text, lists, and the like. Keep it simple. Veranda, Helvetica, Arial, and even Times New Roman are safe choices. Stick with the classics and it's hard to botch this one too badly.

use fewer bullets

There reaches a point where bullet points become less of a visual aid and more of a visual examination.

Bullet points should support the speaker, not overwhelm his audience. The best slides have little or no text at all, in fact. As a presenter, it's our job to talk through complex issues, but that doesn't mean that we need to highlight every talking point.

Instead, think about how you can break up large lists into three or four bullet points. Carefully consider whether you need to use more bullet points, or if you can combine multiple topics into a single point instead. And if you can't, remember that there's no one limiting the number of slides you can have in a presentation. It's always possible to break a list of 12 points down into three pages of four points each.

avoid transitions

Animation, when used correctly, is a good idea. It breaks up slow-moving parts of a presentation and adds action to elements that require it. But it should be used judiciously.

Adding a transition that wipes left to right between every slide or that animates each bullet point in a list, for example, starts to grow taxing on those forced to endure the presentation. Viewers get bored quickly, and animations that are meant to highlight specific elements quickly become taxing.

That's not to say that you can't use animations and transitions, just that you need to pick your spots. Aim for no more than a handful of these transitions for each presentation. And use them in spots where they'll add to the demonstration, not detract from it.

use visuals

Sometimes images tell a better story than text can. And as a presenter, your goal is to describe points in detail without making users do a lot of reading. In these cases, a well-designed visual, like a chart, might better convey the information you're trying to share.

The right image adds visual appeal and serves to break up longer, text-heavy sections of the presentation---but only if you're using the right images. A single high-quality image can make all the difference between a success and a dud when you're driving a specific point home.

When considering text, don't think solely in terms of bullet points and paragraphs. Tables, for example, are often unnecessary. Ask yourself whether you could present the same data in a bar or line chart instead.

find a color palette

Color is interesting. It evokes certain feelings and adds visual appeal to your presentation as a whole. Studies show that color also improves interest, comprehension, and retention. It should be a careful consideration, not an afterthought.

You don't have to be a graphic designer to use color well in a presentation. What I do is look for palettes I like, and then find ways to use them in the presentation. There are a number of tools for this, like Adobe Color , Coolors , and ColorHunt , just to name a few. After finding a palette you enjoy, consider how it works with the presentation you're about to give. Pastels, for example, evoke feelings of freedom and light, so they probably aren't the best choice when you're presenting quarterly earnings that missed the mark.

It's also worth mentioning that you don't need to use every color in the palette. Often, you can get by with just two or three, though you should really think through how they all work together and how readable they'll be when layered. A simple rule of thumb here is that contrast is your friend. Dark colors work well on light backgrounds, and light colors work best on dark backgrounds.

change views

Spend some time in the Slide Sorter before you finish your presentation. By clicking the four squares at the bottom left of the presentation, you can take a look at multiple slides at once and consider how each works together. Alternatively, you can click "View" on the ribbon and select "Slide Sorter."

Are you presenting too much text at once? Move an image in. Could a series of slides benefit from a chart or summary before you move on to another point?

It's here that we have the opportunity to view the presentation from beyond the single-slide viewpoint and think in terms of how each slide fits, or if it fits at all. From this view, you can rearrange slides, add additional ones, or delete them entirely if you find that they don't advance the presentation.

The difference between a good presentation and a bad one is really all about preparation and execution. Those that respect the process and plan carefully---not only the presentation as a whole, but each slide within it---are the ones who will succeed.

This brings me to my last (half) point: When in doubt, just buy a template and use it. You can find these all over the web, though Creative Market and GraphicRiver are probably the two most popular marketplaces for this kind of thing. Not all of us are blessed with the skills needed to design and deliver an effective presentation. And while a pre-made PowerPoint template isn't going to make you a better presenter, it will ease the anxiety of creating a visually appealing slide deck.
