CEVA Logistics launches own operation in Russia with focus on developing Contract Logistics

Marseille, France,  March 11th 2020, CEVA Logistics has opened its own operation in Russia. CEVA Logistics Russia is based in Moscow, from where it offers a full range of air, ocean and ground products. As part of an ambitious development plan, contract logistics services will also be introduced in the coming months.

CEVA Logistics Russia is part of CEVA's Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Cluster and is led by Managing Director Cyril Pacary. The operation is based in the Russian capital, Moscow.

Contract Logistics coming in 2020

In the course of 2020, CEVA Logistics Russia intends to expand its service portfolio with the introduction of Contract Logistics. Project Cargo will also be on the agenda.

CMA CGM’s CEVA Logistics Makes Entry into Car Carrier Market

CEVA Logistics has signed a 10-year lease agreement with parent company CMA CGM to lease four roll-on, roll-off (RORO) vessels from Eastern Pacific Shipping.

The LNG dual-fuel hybrid deep-sea vessels, each with a 7,000-car capacity, will allow CEVA to transport about 140,000 vehicles per year between global markets, particularly China and Europe.

The RORO ships, which are being built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard, will have hybrid power systems that include both LNG and electric battery capabilities. CEVA will have full commercial control over the RORO capacity and manage and operate the vessels under the lease agreement.

The first vessel is set to be delivered in December 2023, with the other three ships coming in 2024.

The new vessels will mark CEVA’s entry into the vehicle shipping market, enabling it to offer owned and controlled capacity to automotive customers and provide flexible shipping options and end-to-end services. The company will offer door-to-door solutions, taking delivery of finished vehicles directly from manufacturing facilities and managing transport to final destinations globally through its network of port connections, RORO capacity, car haulers, and vehicle depots.

CEVA will also strengthen its Cars in Containers solution, which offers a more flexible option for shippers needing to transport small quantities of finished vehicles to strategic ports or in-land locations not easily served by its own RORO vessels or other carrier partners. CEVA has the global network and specialized capabilities to manage the container loading and unloading of finished vehicles, a step that can often make the solution too time-consuming and labor-intensive for shippers.

CEVA will benefit from the expertise of the CMA CGM Group’s newly formed department dedicated to specialty maritime shipping, including vehicle transport on car carriers, La Méridionale, Brittany Ferries, and Neoline.

“As the automotive supply chain continues to stabilize from numerous shocks over the past several years, we have remained close to our customers to understand their challenges and growth opportunities. The decision to operate four deep-sea ROROs is a clear example of our promise of responsive logistics,” said Emmanuel Cheremetinski, global FVL leader, CEVA Logistics. “With such a large need for additional capacity, we found a solution that allows us to co-create long-term value with our customers in the global economy by improving the go-to-market conditions for their finished vehicles.”

France-based CMA CGM took over CEVA Logistics in 2019 to expand its land logistics services in a deal valued at about $1.7 billion.

CEVA is currently hiring a Business Development Director. The Director will act as subject matter expert, responsible for securing new Contract Logistics business through a targeted and clearly defined sales approach for new clients across and aligned with specific verticals throughout North America.  CEVA’s Contract Logistics division is focused on designing and operating complex supply chain solutions including dedicated and multi-client warehouse & e-Commerce fulfilment operations, and dedicated and managed transportation solutions in the following verticals; AUTOMOTIVE. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting account strategies, building customer relationships, supporting the development of best practice solutions and presenting same to potential customers.   In addition, this individual will work internally to align all stakeholders and build support for these opportunities; ensuring timely RFP/RFQ response communications, sales presentation excellence, as well as supporting post-award on-boarding.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

• Work with a wide range of stakeholders, across CEVA North America and other CEVA clusters, to develop compelling and integrated supply chain solutions, with a focus on complex, large scale dedicated & multi-client, single and multi-warehouse solutions, and dedicated and managed transportation solutions.  This should include clearly articulating the CEVA value proposition for Contract Logistics.
• Develop and implement sales plans and sales campaigns to take advantage of market opportunities.
• Work well with and lead cross functional teams to develop innovative industry solutions to meet and exceed our customers’ objectives, increasing profit and service.
• Generate sales leads and participate in networking opportunities for MNCs and large North America-based companies, within the assigned market vertical.
• Ensure lead and opportunity pipelines have sufficient revenue to drive budgeted top line growth for CEVA.
• Utilize C-View (CEVA CRM) to manage customer accounts, contacts and opportunities as specified and within required timelines.
• Proactively establish and cultivate trust-based relationships with potential customers, with the aim of becoming their preferred Lead Logistics Provider.
• Prepare and present compelling, commercially creative proposals to prospective clients, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information and within clients’ specific timeframes.
• Secure new Contract Logistics business that meets or exceeds your personal new business annualized revenue target.
• Ensure all business development best practice processes & procedures are followed.  Support the negotiation and development of contractual documents that protect CEVA's commercial and risk position.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required, preferably in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Marketing or a technical field.   
• 7+ years’ contract logistics sales experience working for a tier 1 3PL.
• Hunter mentality with demonstrable experience of successfully targeting supply chain leaders from large MNC’s and converting leads into significant business opportunities.    
• Multi-year experience of working with companies in one or more (ideally) of the following sectors: Consumer & Retail, Technology, Automotive, Industrial, Aerospace or Healthcare.  
• Strong communication skills; oral & written along with excellent presentation and report writing skills.
• Highly motivated and results oriented.
• Experience developing and implementing broad sales and related business programs.
• Applying comprehensive sales, business, and related principles and practices.
• Interpreting and applying company policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Working with executive management.
• Developing and monitoring budgets.
• Providing consultation and advice on overall business strategies and philosophies.
• Integrating global sales, product development, and business strategies. 
• Analyzing and researching information and determining actions.
• Understanding of marketing, research and development, manufacturing, and related business functions.
• PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Able to travel 60% or more
