PTE Summarize Spoken Text | Tips and Template

Hello everyone! Welcome back. In this post I am going explain how to respond for PTE Summarize Spoken Text. This is the first task in listening section. However, you will be given 10 minutes optional break before this task begins. Please utilise this time and relax yourself. Because when you start the speaking section you have to continuously attend the test for around 2 hours till you complete the reading section.

Our brain needs some rest so that we can concentrate well in listening section. So take atleast 5 minutes rest, ensure your marker is working properly and keep your textpad ready. Take a deep breath and start the listening tasks.

Understanding the task

Let us understand PTE summarize spoken text task first. Write a summary of about 50 to 70 words. Not more or less than that. You will get 2 to 3 questions with 60 to 90 seconds audio prompt. Sometimes you will get more than 90 seconds. You will have 10 minutes to write the summary. This is very easy task. You can write even in 5 minutes but utilize entire 10 minutes to review your response to avoid any mistakes.

Listening Summarize Spoken Text with tips and strategies including template. Grammar, vocabulary and spelling contributes more in this task.

Remember that for entire listening section you will have 45 to 57 minutes, which depends upon the number of questions and audio length for each task. For summarize spoken text alone, each question will be given 10 minutes time. Suppose, say if you get 2 questions: 20 minutes out of 45 minutes total time will be given to PTE summarize spoken text.

You cannot use this time for other tasks. That said completing this task in 5 minutes and saving some time for other tasks cannot be done. You can utilize the entire 10 minutes time only for this task. The rest of the tasks will share the remaining time. This task contributes for both listening and writing section.

Use cut/copy/paste buttons on the screen instead of keyboard shortcuts – We have already discussed this in SWT. Don’t use keyboard shortcuts as it will not work properly. Use the buttons displayed in the screen.

Scoring Structure

For listening, the score carries 13 marks and for writing it carries around 12 marks. The points will be awarded based on the following factors.

Content If you identify the main idea and many supporting key points, you will get 2 points. Zero points will be given if you mention irrelevant points. The software will not check any of the below factors if it is not related to the content and you will get zero marks for that.

Form If you write between 50 to 70 words, 2 points will be given. You will get only 1 point if you write less than 50 words or more than 70 words and zero marks for less than 40 words or more than 100 words.

Grammar, Vocabulary and Spelling If you write without any grammatical errors, 2 points will be given. Grammar is scored by examining the sentence structure, punctuation and capital letters, wherever is required. Use variety of academic vocabularies but if you don’t know the exact meaning then don’t use them, and avoid repetition of same words.

Most importantly PTE Academic recognizes English spelling conventions from United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. But use only one spelling convention consistently in all your responses. Don’t mix the spelling content from different countries. Otherwise, your spelling marks will be affected negatively.

PTE Summarize Spoken Text – Tips and Strategies

If your typing speed is good, you can directly type in the textbox, which appears in the screen, instead of taking notes in the textpad. This way you can capture many key points. If you write in the textpad, you can capture only few keypoints. Moreover, if your handwriting is not good, you cannot understand what you have written.

And while typing try to use abbreviations wherever is possible, ignore if you make spelling mistakes, but make sure you can understand and able to correct it finally. But if you feel you are comfortable in writing, make sure that the marker and notepad are ready. Try to capture atleast 6 to 7 key phrases to get more marks.

If you don’t understand the name of the person whom the speaker mentions or don’t know the spelling, just write his designation such as the researcher said, in scientist point of view, but don’t mention their names wrongly. Don’t recall if you don’t hear the phrase. Just ignore and keep hearing the audio. Otherwise you may miss hearing the further prompt.

PTE Summarize Spoken Text – Template

The lecture was about <main topic> . The speaker firstly provided information on <key point1>, <key point2> and <key point3> . Furthermore, he mentioned <key point4>, <key point5> and <key point6> . Finally, he concluded that <key point7> .

This is the template we can use for SST. We can use any template, but I suggest that the number of words in the template should be less and properly structured. Hence, we can capture many key points and stick to the word limit. Moreover, if we use the template, we can simply include as many key points as possible without worrying about the grammar. Like the one that we are seeing above.

Identify the topic sentence and supporting points as much as possible and include them in the template. Also make sure the text is grammatically correct. If you are able to capture more key points, include them appropriately but keep in mind that it should not exceed 70 words. On the other hand, if you capture only 2 to 3 key points, then write a lengthy phrase using those key points until it exceeds 50 words.

Finally, review it and make sure you have written an error free text. Spend atleast 2 to 3 minutes for proofreading yourself. In the video shared above, I have worked out a sample exercise using this template with one of the most repeated question. I have explained this sample as how we can do in real exam.

Here is the audio prompt

“But what are the dangers of keeping these drugs at home?”

There are a number of dangers. Parents should know that leftover drugs are dangerous because they may be accidentally ingested by children.Either adults don’t keep the bottles properly closed and stored or because even many kids can sometimes open childproof lids.To divert children from committing such dangerous activities parents can the find the best nursery in worsley as they can guarantee children well-being. Patients may use the drugs after their expiration date. The leftover drugs may be taken for the wrong reasons. For example, someone may have a viral infection and self-prescribed to left over into microbial that was prescribed for a bacterial infection. But that drug will have no effect as the viral infections. Without knowing about the NHP Disease Models , any kind of drugs that are left over might be given to or taken by someone else who may have a serious allergy to the medicine and who for that reason would not be prescribed to medicine under the supervision of a physician. Finally, inappropriate use of drugs promotes drug resistance if the drug is taken for the wrong indication, the wrong duration, or in the wrong dosage.

“Todd, what can people do about this how can the situation be improved?”

“I think physicians, patients and parents of patients can take steps to improve the situation. First of all, physicians should prescribe the drug only when appropriate, only in the correct amount and only for the correct duration. Also, the physician must stress to the patient that the full course of the drug like the delta 8 near me must be taken. This is recommended even if symptoms resolved before the end of the prescription and parents of children on antibiotics need to ensure they complete their course as well.”

We can take the notes as below in the textbox appears in the screen.

How to take notes for PTE summarize spoken text

dangers of keeping drugs at home leftover drugs –  ingested by children properly closed – child proof lids open by child after expiration date left over wrong reason, viral but bacterial infection might be given to taken by someone else serious allergy prescribed under the supervision of physician  drug resistance – wrong dosage improved – patients take steps – appropriate, correct duration physician stress full course must be taken symptoms resolved before prescription ends parents on antibio – complete course

This is how we can take notes directly in the screen. So I was able to capture many key points now. Don’t worry about the spelling, we can correct it later. Now type the template and incorporate the points into the template.

How to write using template

The lecture was about dangers of keeping drugs at home . The speaker firstly provided information on children ingesting leftover drugs, people using drugs after expiration date and for wrong reason . Furthermore, he mentioned drugs taken by someone else may cause allergy and wrong dosage of drugs causes drug resistance . Finally, he concluded that patients should take full course of antibiotics even if symptoms are resolved .

Drug resistance – Here, I was not able to capture the entire phrase about this keyword but I know this is an important one. Therefore, I just framed this with some simple phrase. Don’t ignore the keywords if you heard it. Just phrase it without grammar errors. Here full course, complete course both are same. So I just mentioned it only once without repeating.

Finally, review the content and make sure the word count is within 50 to 70 words. Also check the starting letter is capital, commas, full stop, spelling mistakes and grammar errors if any. Because even if we use the template, unknowingly we may do some spelling mistakes. Hence, double check each and every word to ensure that your response is error free. For this response I got the word count 65.

So that’s it for PTE summarize spoken text. Using this template I am sure that you will get 79+ (read my post on how to get 79+ in PTE to score more than 79). Once again, use the 10 minutes optional break, take a deep breath and start the task. Hear the audio with full concentration and take notes as much as possible. Use the template, include the keywords and make sure the word limit is between 50 to 70 words.

Utilize the time properly and check grammar, spelling, capital letters and punctuations if any. Before moving on to the next, read the sentences again and again to make sure that you have written an error free text. I hope you like this post. Thank you all for following all my tips.

Content:  Does your response address the topic? Content is scored by determining if all aspects of the topic have been addressed in your response. The appropriateness of the details, examples, and explanations used to support your point of view is also scored. If your essay does not address the topic, you will not receive any score points for your essay on any of the seven factors. Your essay will be scored zero. The best responses are on topic, contain logical and specific information, and answer any questions asked. They also support any arguments with details, examples, and/or explanations.

Development, structure, and coherence:  Does your response demonstrate good development of ideas and a logical structure? Development, structure, and coherence are scored according to the organization of your response. A well-developed response uses a logical organizational pattern, connects ideas, and explains these connections. The best responses contain multiple paragraphs and have a clear introduction, body, and conclusion that relate to the topic of the essay. Within paragraphs, ideas are clearly presented and supported with details, examples, and/or explanations. Transitions between paragraphs are smooth.

Form:  Does your response meet the length requirement of between 200 and 300 words? Form is scored by counting the number of words in your response. You will receive full credit if your essay is between 200 and 300 words. Writing less than 200 words or more than 300 words will decrease your score. If your essay contains less than 120 words or more than 380 words, you will not receive any score points for your essay on any of the seven factors. Your essay will be scored zero.

General linguistic range:  Does your response use language that precisely conveys your ideas? General linguistic range is scored by determining if the language in your response accurately communicates your ideas. This includes your ability to provide clear descriptions, change emphasis, eliminate ambiguity, express subtleties in meaning, and use stylistic features to communicate meaning. You are more likely to receive full credit if you use complex sentence structures and vocabulary correctly, rather than consistently using simple sentence structures and vocabulary. This is because complex ideas are often expressed with complex sentence structures and vocabulary. The best responses use language that highlights key ideas, creatively expresses opinions, and ensures clear communication.

Grammar usage and mechanics:  Does your response demonstrate correct grammatical usage and consistent control of standard written English? Grammar usage and mechanics are scored by examining sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization. The best responses contain high proportions of grammatically correct complex sentences that clearly communicate the intended meaning.

Vocabulary range:  Does your response demonstrate command of a broad vocabulary range? Vocabulary range is scored according to the variety of words in your response and their appropriateness in an academic environment. Synonyms, idiomatic expressions, and academic terms are also assessed if appropriate. The best responses use precise academic terms and avoid repetition by using synonyms and idioms where appropriate.

Spelling:  Does your response demonstrate correct and consistent use of a single spelling convention?

  • Partial credit scoring applies to Write Essay. No credit is given for no response or an irrelevant response.
  • This question type affects the scoring of the following: writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and written discourse.
  • Your listening and speaking skills are not tested by this question type, and your reading skills are only used to read the instructions and the prompt.

Source:   https://pearsonpte.com

Be mindful of the instructions, for example, the world limit of 200-300 words.    Read the subject well and know the kind of question it is.     Make sure that you write in the correct academic English language.     Try not to write in pointers or bullets.    Write in clear and compact paragraphs.     Stay away from a language that is excessively complicated. Keep it simple.    Plan your essay before you start writing. Many individuals use up all available time composing their essays since they keep changing their ideas on the part of their argument.    Use a good structure. Because you won’t be able to decide, compose, and check everything within 20 mins.    Brush up on your academic vocabulary! It is very important to use good vocabulary when writing an essay.    When you have composed your essay, leave a couple of moments to read what you’ve written, and make further upgrades. It is quite often conceivable to improve what you have composed the first run through. In your last read, pay special attention to these things.    Watch what you have composed carefully on the given subject. It isn't remarkable for test-takers to lose their way after the main passage. Try not to get into one point so much that you miss the general picture.     Ensure you don't repeat a similar point again and again. When you start an argument, create it completely and afterward close it. Try not to continue bouncing to it in the resulting passages.     Check for grammar mistakes, appropriate sentence structures, punctuation, and so on.

You should mention the main idea and important sub-idea (if any). Only one full stop is allowed in the sentence; otherwise, your content is not valid.

The screen layout will include the following parts:

  • PTE writing format – Everything you need to know

3 Common Types Of Ideas In The SWT Section

Depending on the given text, you can express your ideas based on 3 types: Same, Opposite, or Cause and Effect.

The Same Central Idea

The text is usually about a fact known or accepted by people. Your sentence should include the main point of the fact and other sub-ideas to support it.

For example:

Flour is one of the cheapest goods in the world and can be used to make various products such as cakes, noodles, or wrapping covers for deep-fried chicken and fish.

The Opposite Central Idea

The given content may begin with a misconception and discuss the opposite fact with an explanation. In this case, you should start with grammar structures such as although, though, despite, inspire, etc. And then mention the actual fact (opposite from the misconception) in the second part of the sentence.

Although many of us think 8 hours of sleep is perfect for people to relax, a survey conducted by the National Health Care Center proves that the necessary sleeping hours vary depending on people’s gender, health, age, and working conditions.

Cause And Effect Idea

The paragraph often explains a series of actions and their impact. You need to point out the sequence with cause and effect.

Research by the University of Health Care shows that drinking alcohol is the number one reason leading to liver damage due to its poisonous content.

PTE SWT Templates You Can Try

PTE SWT Templates You Can Try

To be successful in this Writing task, you should learn how to use a PTE summarize written text template. Let’s find out what templates are suitable for you and how to use them effectively.

For Students With Average To Good English Skills

For this group of students, the aiming score is from 60 to 80. If it’s your target, the template introduced later can help you achieve it. However, remember that the template is just one of the useful tools during practicing and testing.

To have the best result, you should also practice getting used to the test requirements and know how to identify the central idea, important keywords, and key phrases.

While reading, you should note down all this necessary information and then correctly fit it in the template pattern to form a proper response. Plus, capturing the smaller phrases is also useful. Yet, don’t go too deep in detail. 5 to 6 words are enough to help you avoid grammatical errors.

You can make changes to the template if you feel uncomfortable using it. Yet, if you stick to it, you’ll be able to complete the task with enough information to put in one complex sentence.

Our template includes a well-developed grammatical structure, with the first part of the sentence introducing the main idea and the clever insertion in the second part to add the subordinate clause. You can even extend the sentence with the third part as well.

One more important thing to remember is your keywords should fit the template based on both meaning and grammar. You can change the word form to create a correct grammar structure.

Here is how you can do it:

The text/ research gives information about/ shows that <central idea>, because <keyword/ keyphrase 1> and <keyword /keyphrase 2> are important elements; furthermore, the <keyword/ keyphrase 3>, <keyword/ keyphrase 4> as well as <keyword/ keyphrase 5> were mentioned as a result of <keyword/ keyphrase 6>, <keyword/ keyphrase 7> and <keyword/ keyphrase 8>.

Now let’s see how you can use this template in the example below:

“Older people are growing healthier, happier, and more independent, say American scientists. The results of a 14-year study to be announced later this month reveal that the diseases associated with old age are afflicting fewer and fewer people, and when they do strike, it is much later in life. Researchers, now analyzing the results of data gathered in 1994, say arthritis, high blood pressure, and circulation problems are major medical complaints in this age group, troubling a smaller proportion yearly. And the data confirms that the rate at which these diseases are declining continues to accelerate. Other disorders of old-age dementia, stroke, arteriosclerosis, and emphysema are also troubling fewer and fewer people. ‘It raises the question of what should be considered normal aging,’ says Kenneth Manton, a demographer from Duke University in North Carolina. He says that the problems doctors accepted as normal in a 65-year-old in 1982 do not appear until people are 70 or 75. Clearly, certain diseases are beating a retreat in the face of medical advances. But there may be other contributing factors. Improvements in childhood nutrition in the first quarter of the twentieth century, for example, gave today’s older adults a better start in life than their predecessors.”
The research shows that elderly people have better life quality and grow happier than their older generations because they benefit from their childhood nutrition improvement; furthermore, chronic diseases were also mentioned as a reason for healthier elderly.

For Students With Poor English Skills

A target of a moderate score of around 40 to 60 is suitable for this group of students. If you’re in this group, don’t be upset. It’s always better to set a realistic goal and achieve it then you can go for something higher. Practicing every day can improve your results.

Try your best to practice with the above template. But, if you can’t point out the exact keywords or key phrases, there’s nothing wrong with repeating the sentence (in a logical way and concerning the given text).

Below is a simple template you can use when you’re struggling and there are no other choices.

Sentence 1 from Passage 1 and Sentence 2 of Passage 2, but/and Sentence 3 of Passage 3 or Passage 4.

Let’s see how you can use this template in the example above:

Elderly people are growing healthier, happier, and more independent because high blood pressure and circulation problems are troubling a smaller proportion every year, and there are improvements in childhood nutrition in the first quarter of the twentieth century.

PTE Summarize Written Text Tips For Higher Scores

Tips on reading the text.

This section requires you to have strong reading skills, including speed reading and deep reading, to complete the task well. You need to understand the passage well before summarizing it.

Here are some tips to perfect your skills while reading and finding important information.

  • You need to read and find the main overall idea. Once you identify it, you need to look for its supporting points. Remember, don’t pay attention to the details but the keywords only.
  • You can form your summary by collecting the central idea of each paragraph and combining them together.

Tips On Time Management

Time management plays an important role in the exam. Especially when you sit in the exam room, time seems to fly faster, and you start to become nervous and rush out.

Therefore, learning how to divide your time during the test is important. It will help you use your few minutes effectively and avoid major setbacks to complete the task successfully.

You’ll be given 10 minutes to do the summarizing test. Ensure you fully use this time to read and write perfectly with the following tricks.

You should spend the first 2-3 minutes carefully reading the paragraph. Try to understand its meaning so you will not produce irrelevant content.

The next 4 to 5 minutes are for writing the sentence. Though it’s only one sentence, it requires lots of thinking, forming structure, rearranging, and rewriting until you get a satisfactory result.

The last 1 – 2 minutes should be used for checking grammatical and vocabulary mistakes. Ensure you use correct structure relevant words and place the punctuation in proper places.

Remember that if you finish earlier, your remaining time will not be moved to the next section, so recheck your sentence as much as you can.

Combine The Two Tips

Below is what you need to do in each precious minute of the test.

Step 1. Skim the text for 1 minute

Skimming will give you a general idea about the topic.

Step 2. Deep-read the text for 2 minutes.

While re-reading the passage again for detailed information, note down the keywords. Remember that you’re limited to 1 sentence and a certain number of words; thus, you can use synonyms or one word to replace the whole long phrase if possible.

Step 3. Take 4 minutes to organize the keywords in a sentence.

Imagine you’re telling the information to someone who has no background or has known about the passage, so you should make it as clear and understandable as possible.

Besides, avoid including your own ideas in the content of your summary. Add conjunctions to connect parts of the sentence logically.

Ignore the details. Only choose keywords to include in your answer.

The ideal length is around 30-35 words. The longer you write, the more mistakes will be exposed. And don’t exceed the required word count.

Step 4. Recheck and edit

Spend the last 2 minutes of your given time to fix the grammatical structure, vocabulary usage, and punctuation and simplify the sentence if possible.

The PTE summarize written text is not easy as your one-sentence answer should summarize the passage’s main idea with relevant information, correct grammar, and vocabulary. You need to train your reading skills to get the main idea of the content in a short time and convert it into a proper response.

You can use the above tips and templates to assist your skills in practicing and completing the task well in the exam room. Make sure you practice them a lot and be confident while taking the test to get high scores.

This week, I got low marks in writing in the PTE exam because I used the Language Academy essay template. The same is also applicable to Describe Image and Retell Lecture in speaking. Are there any changes in the marking algorithms? Is it still safe to use your essay template as well as DI & RL templates?

Gaurav Thapa

If you have used templates from Language Academy and still got low marks, the reason might not be the template. Score for Writing does not only depend on the essay question but also on questions from Reading and the Listening sections. Therefore, just changing the format will not mean the scores will change. However, you can freely use the format provided here. My students use them regularly and get good scores. is this template working i have examon next month so please can you tell me that this template is going to work properly or not ? please

Feel free to use this template Gurman. It works 100 percent.

Manjinder

Have you given exam did you use this?

Hi will this template work till February 2025

As long as no changes are made by Pearson, this template should work forever. However, we update the format from time to time just to refresh things.

Cai

I am going to take PTE next week. Can I still use this template in WE and still have a good score up to this time?

Shalini

If you can type an essay without making any mistakes in grammar and spelling, any format would work. Heck, you can even type random nonsense and get good score in the test. The AI only detects typing accuracy and keywords.

Thank you for your reply.

Hi did you used this template. Is it working?

Adam

Hi, I just watched one youtube video about the latest change in PTE 2023 (he just uploaded on 23/9/2023). He mentioned that ONE WORD template seems to give you lower marks than full-sentence template, is that true?

It is not correct Adam. You can safely use the template provided here.

Tu

Hi admin I have heard many people said that using this type of template will make you get 0 score. I’m just afraid if this still works bc I want to ensure that I at least get a good score in writing essays

You will not get 0 if you use this format. You can see many comments here of candidates who used this template and scored well. In fact, I am a PTE instructor, and my students have been using this format successfully for a long time. If you can type this format correctly without any mistakes, I can guarantee that you will ace your essay question.

rima

hi Gaurav, is this format still working in 2024?

Yes. Go ahead and use it. Good luck.

Ahsen

Thanks for sharing, but can we use the terms advantages/ disadvantages, cause/ effect and problems/solution in one assay? Don’t we have to put them according to the type of assay question?

You can use this format as it is.

Nikhil Singh

how do you know that template is working or not in a real PTE exam?

My students are still using this format in their tests with good results. So, you can be assured that this works.

how do you know that template is working in real PTE exam?

Oswin

This template definitely works. I took my PTE exam on last Monday and scored a perfect 90 in all sections while using this essay template.

Congratulations Oswin.

Aman

Hi gaurav thanks for the template, just wanted to ask if we put in the keywords as you mentioned as in the following essay, some websites and even grammly gives grammar errors, as the keywords need to start with “the” or “a” for that matter. can you help ?

A serious amount of worldwide attention has been drawn to the topic of “the” use of car . Because of the existence of evidence in favor of as well as against the approval of “an”  alternative means of transportation , the issue of “the” environment  has been a point of critical concern. Consequently, this essay is going to be about  alternative means of transportation , and I will implore the advantages and disadvantages of  use of car  with the assistance of likely causes, effects, and solutions in order to reach a resolution on  environment  with the help of reasons and examples.

Due to the preponderance of positive arguments regarding  alternative means of transportation , people have embraced the significant role that the matter of  environment  plays and the merits of the situation about  environment . Essentially, we cannot ignore that the question of  environment  is decisive. For instance, there are people who analyze the pros of  use of car  along with the causes before acceptance.

Generally, along with the demerits of  use of car , the impacts also demand careful analysis. Here, we cannot overlook that certain assertions give rise to the idea that the consequence of  use of car  is terrible as there are plenty of examples where inadvertent implications of  alternative means of transportation  have been discovered.

In conclusion, despite the claims put forward in this essay, it is apparent that the impact and the outcome of  use of car  are disputable. Just examining the merits of  alternative means of transportation  is futile because there are refutations relating to  use of car  which muddle the case.

Thank god Grammarly isn’t used to check PTE essays. Omitting articles in places where they are absolutely essential is a big mistake. However, in the essay template here, articles can safely be avoided because the structures are correct with or without one. Yes, inserting the articles as you have pointed out makes the sentences better, but the sentences are not wrong without the articles.

🙂 thanks bro, appreciate your prompt reply.

Dikshit

this template is not working dont use it

You should know that the Essay question carries very low marks in terms of the overall Writing score in the PTE test. Out of 90, this question does not even carry 12 marks. The most important questions for Writing are Write from Dictation in the Listening section and the two types of Fill in the Blanks in the Reading section. Learn more about PTE marking here: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-marking-system-2023/#The_complete_PTE_Score_Guide_2023_for_all_20_question_types_in_PTE

dude my all other mudule was write i just got 50% in extended writing

Resham Magar

Check your writing man. You misspelled “module” and “right” even in this comment. I seriously doubt if you can type correctly. Maybe that is the reason you did not score well.

Hamza

this template is not working in language academy application. but i was putting this template in apeuni , i got 15 /15marks.

Sir can i use this template without any risk? because it will 2nd attempt Paper.

The most important thing to know is that Essay question carries only a small amount of marks in the PTE test. Write from Dictation, Summarize Spoken Text, and Fill in the Blanks questions are more important. Even if you get the full score in Essay question, your overall Writing score might still be less. Please keep that in mind.

As far as Essay questions are concerned, this template will get you the full score. Different practice softwares like ApeUni and Language Academy have their own system of marking, but this format is perfectly designed to get the full score in the actual PTE test.

Hi did you use is it working?

and one of my friend used other template and he got 80% in extended writing

Arjav

Hi, Gaurav I have memorized the old template, Can I use old templete? Thanks…

Yes. I made this new format just for a change. You can still use the old one.

Seudy El

Hi, I was wondering if this template is worked for band 7 or more?

This template is working as of August 2023. Please feel free to use it.

is this template still works ? Because i’m going to give exam in next week

It works Dikshit. Please share your experience after your results.

im giving exam at 29th i will let you know what ever it is

did you use this template during your real PTE test?

Hi did you write this essay your exam and does this essay works please tell me.

Sam

This template doesn’t give direct examples and rationale arguments or reasons related to the main topic. will not that impact the score in terms of content, logic, coherence and cohesion? Is it really safe to use it despite all of that? and what about plagiarism, if other students use it on the same exam, the algorithm will not caught them?

The algorithm used by PTE does not detect the things you have mentioned. So, please be assured that this template works. To know more about how the PTE software works, visit this page: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-marking-system-2023/

How much template in this PTE essay

Ali

HI Admin, your essay template is working, please let me know I’m going to memorize it, i used a different essay template in my first exam and did not work.

It works Alex, so don’t worry about using it. However, remember that doing well in the essay question alone will not get you a high score in the test.

thank you so much for your reply, how many formats are, and can i use it for any topics, eg, problem or adv, disadv and agree, disagree

You can use this format here for any type of essay. Best of luck.

God bless you, I will share my experience after the exam.

mangcik

hi bro, how about your exam especially about your essay? is this template works?

hello, did you use this template? how’s your exam?

Hi Ali, how did your exam goes? Did the template works? planning to take the exam this October.

“It has long been a subject of discussion whether (topic) or not. In my opinion, the former notion has several elements ……”

does this essay template still work?

I am not sure which essay template you are talking about. But, if it did work in the past, then it should also be working now. Unlike several claims made online, you can use whichever format you like provided that there are no grammatical or spelling mistakes.

But if you want to be on the safe side, you can use the format provided here. Best of luck.

Lou

Do not use this template. I got very low mark from writing because of this. Such a scam

I am so sorry to hear about your score Lou. But have you considered that the essay question alone contributes very low marks for the overall Writing score? In fact, out of 90, only about 11 marks depend on essay question. Instead of Write Essay questions, Write from Dictation and Summarize Spoken Text questions are more important for the Writing section.

Ketan patel

is it workable i m afraid to use it. My exam on 7th july

Feel free to use it Ketan. My students have used this format as recently as last Sunday to get a good score in the test.

Hi did you use this template, does it works?

ZiyadCarter

Is this Template Still Working?

Yes it is. The rumor that old templates are not working may be true, but this template is a new one.

Dinesh

I used this template in the real PTE test yesterday. Sadly, I think it doesn’t work. I got 75 in writing. I have checked all the grammars for every keywords in the essay too. However, I got 2 essays. Is it because I use the same templates for both of the essays? I will write without template in the future.

I am sorry to hear that you got only 75 in Writing. Although 75 is a good score, I think you needed 79+. Anyway, the reason is not using this template twice. You should remember that Writing score in the PTE test depends not only on Write Essay question but also on Summarize Written Text, Reading and Writing Fill in the Blanks, Summarize Spoken Text, Listening Fill in the Blanks and Write From Dictation. So, you have to do well in those questions as well to get a high score in Writing. To understand PTE scoring better, go to this link: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-marking-system-2023/

Same this template doesn’t work I got 62 but other parts like speaking and reading i Got 80+

Jessica

I have my test tomorrow. Please assure me it is still working as I know some templates don’t work anymore.

It works like a charm Jessica. But always remember, only using this format cannot guarantee the full score in Writing. You have to put more effort on Write from Dictation, Summarize Spoken Text, Fill in the Blanks, and other questions.

Dheivanai

How many essay writing appear in the exam?

Sometimes you get one, while other times you get two. You can use the same template twice if you get two essay questions. Go to this page for a complete breakdown of the PTE test format: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-test-format/

Thanks Gaurav

Hajar

Hello, every body. is the template useful for PTE test to get high band in writing ? and not as plagiarism ? However, this is first time for me to do this test if some one get high band when used this template pleas let me know thank you

Swati

Don’t worry bro. Just don’t make any mistake while typing this format.

Ok .Thank you for your response 🌸

sachin

this template is very useful in PTE exam…. and thanks

I appreciate your feedback Sachin.

DEVI VAIRAV

The above essay template is still working or not?

Test takers have used this essay format as recently as May 2023 for a perfect score in PTE. So go ahead and use it in your own test. Best of luck.

Thanks for your response.

In June 2023 anyone using the same template because many YouTube videos are saying one word template is not working? In June 2023 two essays instead of one appear in writing module?

You can use this or any other similar template in the PTE test. The template can have one-word topic or multiple words. The only things that matter are correct grammar and spelling.

Also, you might get one or two essays in the test. It is randomly decided, so it depends on your luck.

If two essays appear in the exam we can use the same template or we can use different templates for both essay?

You can use the same format twice.

Amanda Carosella

Can this PTE structure be used for a agree/disagree essay or problem solving essay or any other type of essay it would be?

Yes this structure can be used for any essay type asked in the PTE test. You just need to use the right keywords. Best of luck.

Gunjan

Hi Gaurav, please confirm is this essay templet is still working?? I am planning to give PTE test soon. I have tried with multiple essays and this templet is very usable.

Just wanted to confirm once can I use this in the PTE exam?

Prompt response will be highly appreciated.

Dear Gunjan, as of May 2023, test takers are still using this template in the PTE test and reporting a high score in the Writing section. So, don’t hesitate to use it in your own test.

However, you should keep in mind that only Essay questions will not get you a high score in the Writing section. Write from Dictation, Reading & Writing: Fill in the Blanks, Summarize Spoken Text and Summarize Written Text questions carry more marks for Writing than Essay questions.

Anyway, good luck for your test.

Meme

I don’t get this sentence. To understand easily can you rephrase? For example, there are individuals who analyze the benefits of [topic keyword] along with the causes before adoption.

Here you go: Before adopting (something), people analyze its benefits and causes.

Thank you for answering my question. Does this “something” need to be a keyword?

Yes. Best of luck for your PTE preparation.

MGH

Has anyone tested this strategy on a real PTE exam?

Parham

yes, i used the templates and got 90 on writing

Rima

Kindly, are you surely this template still working?

Anju

Yes, it works.

Ayman Amin

Is the essay templet still working or no ?

AD

It works. This PTE essay template will get you the full score.

Yes it works perfectly fine. Using this template will definitely get you the full score on this item.

abu haraira

[email protected] kindly contact me

alex

What if I just use the same keyword always instead of changing. can I get a high score ? in two examples you changed the keywords. is it necessary? thanks

You can use the same keyword if you don’t feel like changing it. It doesn’t matter.

thanks, I’m exercising with APEuni and following your template, using the same keyword for all the sentences, I’m getting 14/15 which is pretty good for me. I’m loosing one point on Development, structure and coherence almost all the time.

Although you are getting 14/15 on ApeUni, you will get full 15 on the actual PTE test. Best of luck.

Mari

Isn’t this plagiarism? Won’t the computer notice?

Honestly speaking, it is plagiarism. Ideally, a test taker should learn how to write an argumentative essay alongside using correct grammatical structures and appropriate vocabulary. However, my personal experiments as well as those done by others all over the world have proved that you can use a ready-made template in the test. In fact, everyone can use the same template over and over again, but the computer doesn’t care.

Therefore, it is up to the candidate appearing for the PTE test to decide whether they want to go the proper route by improving their essay writing ability or simply “cheat” the test by copying this format provided here. If the essay fulfils the criteria mentioned in this article, you can score good in the test. Plagiarism, it seems, isn’t a criteria.

rabia

is it workable i m afraid to use it

It is perfectly fine to use this ready-made essay in your own PTE test. It has been tried in the actual test with success. However, you should remember that only doing this question perfectly doesn’t mean you will get full score in the Writing module. There are other questions to worry about as well. Refer to this page for more details: https://www.pteielts.com/pte-marking-system-2022/

Roney

Such an easy PTE essay template to remember. Thank you so much.

I am happy that you liked my PTE essay template.

Rana

Sir I am not good in Reading please give me the tricks

If you are not already very good in answering Reading questions, you can start learning all the rules of grammar. Most questions are based on your knowledge of grammar. However, if you don’t have much time, you can practice all the past questions, which are easily available online. Most questions in the test are repeated. Best of luck.

PTE Summarize written text | FREE PTE Tutorials | Updated for 2024

PTE summarize written text introduction

The writing section in PTE Academic consists of just 2 types of questions – summarize text and essay writing. There can be up to 2 questions of each type in your exam. PTE Summarize written text is similar to the traditional summary writing tasks you might have done in your school time English classes.

In PTE Summarize written text questions you will receive a short to mid sized text – usually a paragraph or couple of paragraphs on a particular topic. Your task as the name of the question type suggests is to write a summary clearly explaining the main theme and the key ideas of the text.

PTE summarize written text

There are some PTE specific requirements – the summary that you write must be only one sentence long! Further it can’t be more than 75 words. To say the least it needs to be crisp and to the point.

Can you guess which sections this question type contributes to?

Yes! You are right if you have said – Writing as well as Reading! After all if you can’t read and understand the text correctly you will not be able to write the summary.

For each question you will receive 10 minutes – i.e. 10 minutes to read the text and write the summary. How well you do depends to a large extent on how wisely you use these 10 minutes.

If you approach the task randomly, you will end up with a random result.

PTE Summarize written text method

( Note : Our expert tutors have put together a full series of PTE Tutorials and PTE Tips and Tricks articles. Make sure to read all! Also, check out the PTE Mock Test packages for mock tests with score cards, section tests, mini tests – all with authentic questions and real PTE like software!)

Therefore, we advise you to follow a system!

  • Read the text from top to bottom as you try to identify the main theme of the text. How will you do that? Well! main theme is the one around which the rest of the text revolves. You will see references to it in various forms throughout the text. For e.g. if the text is on electric cars, the whole text may include examples of popular electric cars or the problems that electric cars solve or the benefits of electric cars, etc.
  • Start by writing 2-3 sentences that according to you convey the essence of the text. If someone was to read just these few sentences they should be able to tell what the whole text is about.
  • Once you have boiled the whole text down to 2-3 sentences combine them to form one single sentence. You can use conjunctions and other sentence connectors. You might also have to refine the sentences further and leave out the unnecessary. Keep only the core in the text.
  • Examples, anecdotes, statistics, and any other supporting information is not the core of the text. It is just that – supporting information. For e.g. You can just say – “Electric cars are expected to contribute to emission reductions in a major way in next two decades.” You don’t need to include statistics or percentages telling how much reduction.
  • Review and improve the summary. Once you have written the summary review it in the last couple of minutes of your given 10 minutes for that PTE Summarize written text question. In your review you can improve the vocabulary used – more complex words for simple words, synonyms or similar words instead of repeating the same word again and again, etc.

We have written a detailed article on the tips and tricks you can follow for PTE Summarize text – PTE Summarize Written Text Tips and Tricks ! Make sure to check that out.

Ultimately your score will depend upon a few things:

1) How well you capture the key information – If you miss out the main points nothing else will matter.

2) The grammatical correctness of your response – Often when people try to combine sentences or compress a lot of information in under 75 words, they end up making mistakes. You should try to avoid that.

3) Diversity of your language and vocabulary – The PTE software does not want to see a response which has the same few words repeated again and again. Impress it by showing your large vocabulary.

In today’s world where we are flooded by information, PTE Summarize Text is an easy question type to practice. Pick any newspaper article or anything written on an academic or professional or news website like npr.org and try to write the gist of it. You will find you will get a hang of it in no time!
