Introduction

Disadvantages.

Historically, big cities were always centers of commerce and economic growth, offering greater security and job opportunities. To this day, leaving the desperation of the countryside for the success of a huge metropolis is a popular trope in culture and media. Although it is common to romanticize the lifestyle of big city dwellers, living in a large urban area comes at a high cost. Metropolitan residents do indeed enjoy a tremendous amount of career and quality of life advantages; however, it is not a secret that living in big cities is often associated with a lack of meaningful interpersonal interactions.

On the one hand, big city life offers excellent opportunities for economic growth. According to Loschiavo (2021), “urban concentration enhances productivity, which, in turn, spurs national economic growth” (p. 5). Due to their sheer massiveness, big metropolitan areas provide their inhabitants with a greater number of open vacancies and increased competitive salaries. In addition, dwellers of such cities benefit from easy access to various quality-of-life services, such as different specialty stores, pharmacies, hospitals, restaurants, and entertainment options. Massive city residents enjoy the best medical service and numerous means of mass transportation.

On the other hand, big city dwellers suffer from a lack of meaningful interpersonal relationships. Loschiavo (2021) claims that “big-city dwellers are exposed to unceasing external contacts with numbers of persons that are nevertheless impersonal and transitory” (p. 10). According to his research, people in larger cities tend to create relationships to meet their needs rather than form meaningful mutual connections. Moreover, a competitive environment in areas of large economic growth contributes to the dissolution of cooperation and thus leads to increased residents’ unhappiness.

In conclusion, life in a big city has advantages and disadvantages. Large urban areas offer better job opportunities and easy access to the best possible medicine, transport, and leisure. However, the competitive and transitory nature of metropolises contributes to the decadence of cooperation and interpersonal relationships. Although big cities offer numerous career-related opportunities, those aspiring to move there must be prepared for lack of satisfaction in their personal life.

I liked the pros and cons, but I just felt like it was too short, you know? The ones you gave were helpful but I don’t like that there was only one pro and only two cons. The only thing that I found out was the use of the word **whenever** when I guess it should be **wherever** . I quess it was a mistake due to the haste and rush to finish and hand in the essay.

Again, thsnks for sharing your essay with us. Blessings.

From burning the fossil fuels and vice versa n increasing in the amount of different transportation. Thus the amount of O2 decreases by replacing the tress and establishing the different buildings or opening of facilities. I'm not at least 16 I m at 14 ☺

Advantages & Disadvantages of City Life Living Essay

' src=

What about moving to a busy town or city. There are a variety of reasons why towns and cities cater to people: better. Mass transit, a blend of races, work prospects, and convenient access to shops and services. But the lifestyle that comes with an urban environment might not be what you’re used to. so before making significant changes, make sure you’re mindful of the Advantages and disadvantages of city life.

Table of Contents

Advantages and Disadvantages of City Life

To most people, city life can be a temptation. This is because they can conveniently access social services, leisure facilities, and better infrastructure while one lives in a city.

Advantages of living in City

The biggest reason why there were high levels of urban-rural migration was the glamour of city life. Contrary to what individuals conclude, though, city life has its benefits and drawbacks.

Advantages of Energy in City

Access to energy is the first benefit of city living. Many of the city houses have power, which is convenient for us, unlike many rural areas with no electricity. It really is accurate that industrial society is primarily expected in urban culture. In towns, all sorts of new facilities are found. The city has the services and luxuries that in communities can not be found. City life’s charms still draw tourists, so many people move from village to town. City life, though, is not without drawbacks and annoyances. City life has many perks. Urban living clearly has its good and bad aspects.

Education and Health Advantages

Advantages of City life

More advantages of city life in terms of education and healthcare, towns have better services. In the towns, many of the famous medical centers are situated. For better care, people from elsewhere in the cities ought to come to the towns. In the city centers, all the popular schools, educational institutions are also based. So, people want to live in cities for school. The life of man is now more relaxed and simpler with the progress of science and technology. They have access to decent roads and better modes of transport while you are staying in the city. Cities provide access to improved transportation-easing road networks, airports, and trains.

Business Benefits in City

Advantages of Cities are better centers for commerce, too. A corporation situated in a town is more likely to develop than a village-based business. In the city, there are more work opportunities as well. This is because there are many factories and centers of trade in cities.

Conveniences and Amenities

Advantages of city life also deliver the finest conveniences and amenities. Hereby holding yourself in the air conditioning unit, one can keep out of summer sun. One can drive in a luxury car here, eat in fine restaurants, shop in luxury stores, watch movies in theatres and cinemas, and chill in parks. Towns are energetic and lively. Youngsters quite like this life.

City living facilitates ethnic convergence as well. In towns, residents in work and rural buildings come from various regions and connect. Therefore, ethnic convergence is strengthened.

Medical Facilities

Access to medical facilities in the area is also convenient. Because most of the big hospitals and doctors are situated there, you can get better medical care in the city advantages.

Parks and Touring Places

Life in town will grant you access to amenities as well. There are several amusement centers and different attractions in the city. Such as national parks and exhibitions also in the advantages of city life.

Shopping Malls

Entry to shopping malls is another bonus of benefits of city life. As shopping centers are numerous and available, it is easy for one to buy the requisite necessities.

Modern Technology

Living in the city is also helpful since you can have access to digital innovations. Urbanites are always the first to use it to get more advantages of modern technology is created.

You’re going to commute to work and come home, and you’re not going to queue for public transport. You’re going to save money as well.

Generally, a community is a business hub. All will be practically at your fingertips and often at a premium, so you’ll have choices even in the middle of the night. It is arbitrary, though, without the want to go to the city in question, you can get to see the city surrounding it all the local and prominent locations.

Fast Transportation Advantages

For fast transport, a town has metal roads with train and bus connections. Academic and probably technical establishments with services for using the library are available.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Living in a City

Disadvantages of living in City life

Disadvantages of City Life

Crime disadvantages.

Another downside to urban living is that individuals engage in crime to make money due to the city’s unemployment rate. Often, community life is more costly than rural life. Compared to rural areas, labor, water, accommodation, and power are very high in the capital. This is the biggest in all disadvantage of city life.

High Traffic Disadvantages

Road conditions tend to be a problem, particularly during peak times when folks are going to work and from work, due to the sheer number of cars in the area. Elevated concentrations of emissions still occur in the town.

Air Pollution Disadvantages

Industrialization and water degradation caused by inadequate waste management, there is air pollution disadvantages of living in a city.

Sewerage Disadvantages

In the list of advantages and disadvantages of city life, the other poor disadvantages of city life are sewerage services, too. Owing to the large population density, multiple individuals use the same stormwater infrastructure that creates a blockage if not properly managed.

Overpopulation is also present in the city. This makes it impossible to walk through the streets as you would most likely crash into other persons, which may be a nuisance.

Noise Pollution Drawbacks

They are even prone to noise pollution while they live in the city. This is attributed to the various amusement facilities and the vast number of automobiles. Losing one’s culture while living in the city is also very natural. This is attributed to various cultures being introduced to them. Another downside to living in the city is that land can be pricey because most people incur mortgage and rental loans that impact their finances.

Expensive Living Disadvantages

Yet citizens who still have capital enjoy much of the services or amenities. All are very expensive in city life.

Very few individuals can appreciate the comforts of city life here. The majority of people lives an unhappy life. For themselves, because of their friends, they can not handle decent food. Their offspring will not be sent to decent schools. Also present in the markets is schooling in all fields of knowledge. Educational services are accessible from the main to degree level in the city.

Violence and Violence

Vast slums are the poorest side of city life. They’re fast-rising. Hovering people are flooding the open plots, and slums are rising. Dirty huts and slums are hotbeds for drugs, violence, vice, and corruption. Once again, hundreds of homeless people who work and sleep on walkways exist. Violence and exploitation endanger the lives of the residents of the area.

Noise Traffic Congestion

We are here to read the advantages and disadvantages of city life. Urban life is often turned hellish by noise and traffic congestion. They see all sorts of waste here. Filth and waste are spreading here and there. The avenues of the city are full of dust and smoke from cars. In a contaminated climate, the welfare of the city’s inhabitants is seriously endangered. Traffic jam also makes it very intolerable to city life.

If one has a reliable source of money, city life can be perfect. However, it can be very difficult to live in the city without a career, which can lead to people going for illicit means of getting rent. Therefore, migrating to the city with a steady career or with a business plan that you can grow is preferable.

Final Wording

We realize there are two sides Advantages and disadvantages of living in city life. There are several charms for residents of the city on one side, and the misery and misery on the other.

People living in big cities are accustomed to higher standards of living; this life just the kind of life every person often strives at; urban residents have advantages easier access to food and livelihood, though unlike those citizens living in the villages.

The rural areas are evolving their many projects in modern times, given up in a particular seriousness. The rewards of a town’s life are much greater than those of remote regions, which are more welcomed.

Exhilaration to agree on a major transfer to a larger city can also be distracted from the reality that you have had to switch from a comfortable life in the fields to a higher income. Most people, particularly those who live in small villages and rural areas, are drawn to city life. Any of the reasons behind this attraction are convenient accessibility amenities, better facilities, and superior recreational opportunities.

Big Cause of Urban Living

The big cause in my essay about the advantages and disadvantages of city life is a high degree of migration is the elegance of city life. Yet then it should be taken into account that modern life is not for everyone. In the cities, it would be much tougher than living and runs at a rapid pace. There are several positives and drawbacks to living in a major town and community.

The UN has predicted that 55% of the world’s economy resides in cities, which are projected to increase by 68% by the completion of 2050. This would make the city more populous and overcrowded. Consider an example of any well known or big city, such as Los Angeles, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Beijing, and you’ll be able to remember news detailing the issue of these cities. We hope you like our essay about the advantages and disadvantages of city life living. The Essay Writing section of the IELTS Writing Module can be a difficult task for many IELTS Aspirants. Thus, it is vital that you polish your essay writing skills before attempting the IELTS.

Below is a sample IELTS Essay for the IELTS Essay topic:

Some people believe that living in big cities is becoming more difficult. Others believe that it is getting easier. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. OR Describe the advantages and disadvantages of living in the city.

There has been much debate about whether city life is harder or easier. While it is argued that it is more difficult to live there, I think there are more comforts of urban life.

City dwellers may be confronted with various problems. The first matter can be the higher cost of living than that in villages or other smaller towns because urban citizens might have to pay higher prices for transport service or household bills. Secondly, high population density in urban areas may cause overcrowding , followed by a lack of open spaces for green trees or other recreational activities for metropolitan residents . Finally, together with thousands of tons of daily emissions discharged from families or offices, a huge quantity of fumes are released from motor street vehicles or metropolitan factories, leading to air and water pollution. In other words, there may be a deterioration in the quality of air and water ; consequently, health conditions are likely to be threatened.

However, in my view, city life is becoming easier in several cases. Well-known universities, schools at the international level, or other high-quality educational centers located in metropolitan zones generate advantages for city inhabitants to enjoy better educational opportunities to increase their knowledge level . Another factor to make urban life easier is that thanks to the governmental financial investment in improvements in public transport systems like bus or underground services in cities, urban residents’ travel can be facilitated. Furthermore, metropolitan citizens may enhance their spiritual life or enjoy relaxing moments by going to the cinema and theater or spending time in art galleries as well as museums.

In conclusion, although there are numerous difficulties of residing in metropolitan areas, from my point of view, it is increasingly easier to spend life in big urban areas on the basis of my above-mentioned analyses and explanation.

  • THE CITIES ISSUE

How the pros and cons of city living vary around the world

Every day, more people become city dwellers. The challenge of urban existence is to balance its benefits and its drawbacks.

For most of the six million years of human evolution , all humans and protohumans lived like somewhat glorified chimpanzees , at low population densities, scattered over the landscape as families or small bands. Only within the past 6,000 years, a small fraction of human history, did some of our ancestors come together in cities. But today more than half the world’s people live in these new settings, some of which have tens of millions of inhabitants.

Urban life involves trade-offs. We may gain big benefits in return for suffering big disadvantages. Let’s consider two of them: the trade-off between individual freedom and community interests, and the trade-off between social ties and anonymity.

To understand the issue of freedom, take first the city of Singapore , in effect one of the world’s most densely populated micro-countries. Singapore’s nearly six million people are packed into about 250 square miles—230 times the average U.S. population density. It’s an Asian financial center, a major port on one of the world’s busiest shipping straits, and a tiny piece of prime real estate wedged between two giant, powerful neighbors, Indonesia and Malaysia. Singapore was part of Malaysia until 1965, when economic and racial tensions spurred its separation. But Singapore depends on Malaysia for most of its water and much of its food, and can’t afford to make mistakes or provoke its neighbors.

Singapore citizens’ bargain with their government: less individual freedom in return for First World living standards.

So Singapore’s government monitors its citizens closely, to make sure that individuals don’t harm the community. Inspectors check for water standing in each household’s pots, lest they furnish breeding sites for disease-transmitting mosquitoes. Smart-technology sensors measure (or will measure) the traffic on every street, the movements of every car, and the temperatures of and shadows cast by buildings. They also will track the water and electricity consumption of every household and will note the time whenever a household toilet is flushed. Americans may view such measures with horror, as George Orwell’s novel 1984 come true. But for Singapore’s citizens, it’s the bargain that they have made with their government: less individual freedom in return for First World living standards, health, and security.

Next consider Germany’s cities, also densely populated. Local governments have rules about the shapes and colors of tiles that Germans may use on their houses’ roofs, and about the sizes and ages of trees that they can or can’t cut down on their property. To obtain a fishing license, Germans must attend many hours of fishing classes, then pass a 60-question exam. Most Americans would bristle at such restrictions. But benefits to German communities include beautiful regional architecture , green cities, government support for the arts, and healthy fish populations.

At the opposite extreme comes my own city of Los Angeles, where rights of the individual property owner are prized as sacred. The result is a free-for-all, in which many individuals and communities suffer disadvantages. Almost any style of house is permissible; local architectural character is nonexistent. Tree cover is vanishing, temperatures are rising, and landowners’ excavated dirt and sprayed pesticides end up on neighbors’ property. To fish in the local bay waters, anyone can buy a fishing license—no questions asked—so of course fish populations decline.

The outcomes of trade-offs differ for Singapore, Germany, and L.A. because different geographies and histories have led to different customs. Population density is highest in Singapore, intermediate in Germany, lowest in the United States (including California). China—whence the ancestors of most of Singapore’s population arrived—has had cities for five millennia, Germany for two millennia, the United States for just a few centuries. Chinese traditional farming is communal; Germans have close-packed individual farms; and U.S. frontier settlements had self-sufficient, widely scattered families. The cultural legacies of those differences live on today.

Another issue of urban life is the trade-off between social ties and anonymity. Traditional living arrangements still practiced today in rural areas of New Guinea, where I’ve been working since the 1960s, resemble those formerly practiced in pre-urban Western societies. New Guinea villagers live out their lives where they were born, constantly surrounded by lifelong friends and social support.

How rats became an inescapable part of city living

A first reaction of many lonely, urban Americans is: How heartwarmingly wonderful! When New Guinea villagers move to cities, they find themselves surrounded by strangers, their friends few or recent or scattered across the city. The frequent results are unhappy isolation, decline of social support, and proliferation of urban crime.

Still, we American city dwellers shouldn’t romanticize traditional village living arrangements. My New Guinea friends tell me that those arrangements are also socially suffocating, and limit individuals’ abilities to realize their potential. In New Guinea villages, everybody knows, constantly watches, and incessantly discusses what everybody else is doing.

As a result, a New Guinea friend who spent years living in a U.S. city loved it—because (as she told me) she could sit alone and read a newspaper in peaceful anonymity in a sidewalk café, without being importuned by fellow clan members asking her for money and bewailing their troubles. New Guineans have learned to appreciate the modern urban inventions of opaque bags and trouser pockets—because those inventions permit them to conceal things from neighbors and thereby to acquire small luxuries without becoming targets of village comment. Thus, New Guineans recognize drawbacks as well as heartwarming benefits of village life. They also understand the benefits, not just the pains, of urban anonymity.

It all comes down to compromises. As the world becomes increasingly urban, will all of us be forced to adopt more of Singapore’s solutions? If a government meter that records every flushing of your toilet is part of the price you’d have to pay for living in safety, health, affluence, and beautiful surroundings, what would you choose?

Living in a City: Advantages and Disadvantages

People are usually faced with different options when deciding on where to live. That is do they want to live in the city or would they prefer to live in the suburbs where it is more peaceful. The essay that follows intends to show the advantages and disadvantages of city life. Before someone settles down, one has to consider the life that he or she prefers. The essay will give comparison and contrast between the advantages and disadvantages of city life.

There are certain advantages that come with life in the city. One of the biggest advantages that life in the city presents is the ease in the accessibility of educational institutions, business centers and trade. A critical analysis of city life shows that most educational institutions are located in the city. Majority of colleges and universities are located in the city. This causes students who live outside the city tom incur transport costs everyday so that they can reach their educational institutions.

Another advantage that comes with city life is that no transport costs are incurred. This is because business centers are located in the city. Schools are also in the city and the two distances between school and home or work and home is just a walking distance. This helps to save the costs of transport that would otherwise have been incurred if the person had been living far from the city. There is little or no driving involved simply because the supermarket is just around the corner. There is provision of public transportation as a way of cutting down on the fumes being released in the atmosphere.

The close proximity of these educational institutions and work places also saves time. The time that would have been wasted in trying to connect the two areas is saved. Living in the city therefore helps to save the time that would have been otherwise wasted in commuting.

Those people living in the city can also reduce expenses. The money that would have otherwise have been used in eating at a hotel is saved. Living in the city enables one to go home during lunch and eat there rather than eating at a hotel. Those living away from the city have to incur the expenses of eating out in hotels and this entails big spending even though it is affordable.

There are also disadvantages that come with living in the city. One of them is the high crime rate that exists in the city. This can be attributed to the fact that a variety of all sorts of people is found in the city.

Another problem present in the city is the pollution rate. Even though the number of vehicles is greatly reduced, there is wide spread pollution due to the numerous numbers of industries that are present in the city.

The presence of buildings everywhere in the city is another problem that is faced in the city. All the trees are cut down to provide rental space and therefore little fresh air can be found in the city. Life in the suburbs is great as there is plenty of land and trees are everywhere. This provides a serene environment where there is plenty of fresh air to be enjoyed as compared to the city where almost every space is filled up with buildings.

One of the benefits of suburban life is the privacy that is experienced by the people living in this place. This sort of privacy enables people to get to know each other as compared to the city where people are always too busy with their lives to want to know even who their next neighbor is.

One disadvantage of suburban life is the fact that taxation is scarce and therefore the social amenities are not adequately advanced or equipped. Comparing this to life in the city shows, that taxation in the city is high and therefore there are adequate funds make equipping public places such as libraries easy.

A comparison between the city and the suburbs shows that both places experience crimes. Though the city has higher incidences of crime and violence, the suburbs also receive their own fair share of crimes. This one thing is common to both city life and suburban life.

To conclude, both the city and suburbs have their own advantages and disadvantages. Both of them experience violence and crime. Pollution rate is high in the city while there is plenty of fresh air in the suburbs where trees exist in great numbers. Since both places have their own pros and cons, the choice of where to stay depends mainly on a person’s lifestyle and preferences.

Essay on City Life Vs Village Life for Students and Children

500+ words essay on city life vs village life.

Village life reflects the rural lifestyle and city life shows the urban lifestyle. Life in both rural and urban areas has its own plus points and problems. One is quite different from each other. Traditionally, India is a predominantly rural country as Mahatma Gandhi had said, “The real India lives in villages”. Though India is mainly a land of villages, there are many cities as well in the country.  Life in these big cities is quite different from life in a village. Let us consider, in brief, life in a big city and point out some of its important advantages and disadvantages.

essay on city life vs village life

Comparison: City life Vs Village life

The facility of education.

In big cities, there are good arrangements for education. The big college even universities are available.  There are also a very large number of school both government and private in the big city.  These arrangements do not exist in small towns and villages.

Medical Facility

Cities also provide sufficient medical facilities.  Almost in every city, there are good hospitals in which the poor get free medicines and treatment. Many qualified doctors are also there to serve the sick and the suffering. Indeed lack of such medical arrangement is the main drawback of villages.

Amusement and Recreation

Cities also provide many opportunities for amusement and recreation. In every city, there are a number of cinema houses and multiplexes, where we can enjoy with family. Also, a number of restaurants and hotels are available for better food of variety. There are also many parks and gardens where we can enjoy the best natural beauty. Villages are always lacking such facilities.

The Opportunity of Employment

The most important advantages of cities are the availability of huge opportunity for employment . They are centers of trade and commerce as well as offices of many multinational companies . Persons with different qualifications can easily find jobs to suit them.  In villages, employment is available mostly in farming. Due to farming, only seasonal jobs are available to a large population in villages.

Mixed Culture

Cities are having a variety of people from various cultures. But real India and its customs are highly visible in villages.

Natural Environment

It is fact villages are always natural due to be their self-creation by nature. On the other hand, most cities are manmade. Hence the natural environment of villages is their main attraction. In villages only we may have the charms of birds and flowers or the beauty of the day-dawn.

Pollution and Adulteration

City life is extremely unhealthy due to air pollution, water pollution, and noise pollution . The people are not getting fresh air to breathe or the clear sky to enjoy the sunshine. Also, food in the cities is dirty, unhealthy and adulterated. The villages are very much away from such drawbacks.

Population and Other Issues

In city life is very costly. People have to live with a lot of pomp and show. A simple life as in the villages is almost impossible in the city. Besides, the cities are over-crowded and it is very hard for people to get suitable accommodation. People in the city do not have much sympathy with others even with neighbors. The sympathy and close interdependence which is marked in the village’s life is entirely lacking in the city.

Thus, life in villages and in cities presents two contrasting pictures. There are positive as well as negative aspects of both. Therefore it is up to the individual to make the most of it irrespective of the rural or urban setting that one lives in. I, myself, like to live in a village in the close vicinity of a modern city so that I can enjoy the pleasures both of the city and the village.

DOL IELTS Đình Lực

More and more people are living in big cities these days. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this for society and individuals?

essay advantages and disadvantages of city life

1. Disadvantage

It is reported that there is a rising number of people residing in metropolitan areas . Even if work prospects are more abundant in these areas, the quality of city life would still be unpleasant due to living expenses and noise levels being substantially higher.

On the one hand, major cities provide both a significant amount of employment and higher average salaries. With corporations dominating the city skyscrapers , it is impossible to not find work. Statistics from New York City demonstrate that inhabitants here have ten times more job prospects than those in the neighboring suburbs and smaller towns. Additionally, greater earnings are also another reason why workers are attracted to large cities. High-skilled workers tend to concentrate in urban centers because they can accumulate valuable experiences that are not available elsewhere. This skilled workforce is, of course, the target of agglomeration economies which are often willing to pay higher wages.

The increased cost of living, on the other hand, is the first disadvantage that people typically evaluate when considering relocating to a city. Major cities always have vastly higher living expenses than their surrounding suburbs. Places such as San Francisco and Los Angeles consistently have the highest accommodation costs in the United States. In these cities, basic living expenditures such as rent, utilities, food, beverages, and gasoline tend to be much greater. Secondly, metropolitan regions also have higher noise exposure . Major cities have far more inhabitants and traffic, which adds to the noise, as do trains and neighboring airports with shrieking planes arriving and departing. Special events, such as musical concerts and tournaments, can also render a neighborhood more disruptive and congested .

In conclusion, although living in bigger cities provides greater job opportunities, the living experience would still be undesirable due to the exorbitant living costs .

2. Disadvantage

According to estimates, the number of individuals residing in urban regions is increasing. Even though people can have a wider range of activities living in cities, it has significant drawbacks due to the high noise and air pollution levels.

On the one hand, major cities provide a plethora of enjoyable activities and ways to meet new people. There is always plenty to do in a large city to keep people of all interests entertained. Metropolises like Las Vegas, Bangkok, or Tokyo, for instance, feature vibrant nightlife , a variety of food to taste, festivities , and sporting events. Furthermore, these large metropolises also often come with millions of residents from varied origins and backgrounds. As such, meeting new individuals who share similar interests and passions can be incredibly exciting.

From another perspective, however, metropolitan regions suffer from higher levels of noise exposure and air pollution. Firstly, major cities have a significant number of inhabitants, which increases noise. General transportation modes like trains, buses, and airplanes also contribute to noise. Downtown districts in New York City, for example, are loud and crowded virtually twenty-four hours a day. Secondly, most urban dwellers worldwide are inhaling unhealthy levels of pollution. Ambient fine particle air pollution and nitrogen dioxide are the two primary pollutants that are especially notable in urban environments. As both of these are linked to the aggravation of asthma symptoms and other lung-related problems, city life is extremely harmful.

In conclusion, living in a city may provide for a broader variety of activities, but there are also substantial negatives owing to the increased rates of air and noise pollution.

essay advantages and disadvantages of city life

Today, the urban population is growing increasingly. Whilst individuals have more options for commuting and job opportunities, the lack of green space and living space has significant drawbacks.

On the one hand, larger cities provide greater commuting alternatives and work prospects. Public transi t in cities is typically a viable option for driving oneself and coping with traffic and parking issues. In Tokyo, for instance, certain public transportation choices, such as subways and buses, are also quite affordable and free the locals from the hassle of driving. The public transit system here also has connecting routes to international airports, which is particularly convenient for professional business travelers. In addition, there are also countless types of jobs in urban areas. These locations often provide ample opportunities for employment and entrepreneurial ventures . The possibilities can go from part-time and full-time positions in offices to retail and service industry jobs. Hence, urban areas have long been regarded as diverse job hubs.

The lack of living and green space, on the other hand, is a huge deterrent to individuals coming to cities. Most residents in larger cities often reside in apartments, which can be rather modest, if not tiny. It is also atypical to have an outside space such as a yard or terrace. Even though there are residences with open-air gardens in urban areas, they are considered highly luxurious. Living in the city, therefore, entails accepting the fact that one will be living in an apartment complex with neighbors on the opposite side of the walls. People in New York City, for example, may wander for miles before stumbling across any green area. In actuality, Central Park is commonly regarded as the communal "garden" for thousands of households.

In conclusion, despite the fact that people have more career options and transportation alternatives, the shortage of space and vegetation in cities continues to provide severe drawbacks.

4. Disadvantage

In the modern world, the population of urban regions is growing. Even though these areas have a plethora of free activities and shopping options, the increased living costs and crime rates make these places unappealing to reside in.

On the one hand, major cities feature plenty of free tourist opportunities as well as retail complexes. Firstly, everything including cycling in a park, window shopping, visiting art exhibits on free entry days, and enjoying the scenery downtown, is free, and one could easily spend an entire day being active. Individuals may occupy themselves at these amazing places, making the most of their city-living experience. Furthermore, shopping in the city offers a diverse range of choices. Within a relatively small radius, shop-goers would discover everything from traditional, larger-brand retailers with trendy, fashionable outfits to modest, artisan craft businesses , specializing in handcrafted, customized apparel.

Increased living expenses and crime rates, on the other hand, are significant deterrents to people migrating to large cities. Economic vitality has been more concentrated in a few favorable locales. As a result, these areas attract a disproportionate part of the country's wealth as well as the world's wealthiest inhabitants. As this group of people competes with each other in property purchases, they unintentionally drive the living costs up even more, which will soon no longer be affordable to less privileged people. Large cities are also more crime-prone , rendering them dangerous places to inhabit. This is logical from a statistical standpoint, as the urban population is extremely dense and the aforesaid riches attract criminals. Urban areas are also where there are higher numbers and more obvious cases of social and economic inequalities, which frequently trigger criminal behaviors.

In conclusion, despite the abundance of free activities and shopping alternatives major cities provide, the growing expense of living and high crime rates make them undesirable places to live.

essay advantages and disadvantages of city life

The population of urban areas is increasing in the modern world. Although these areas suffer from a lack of space, which leads to unhealthy lifestyles, improved employment, and educational prospects make them ideal locations to settle.

On the one hand, city dwellers struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle while yet finding adequate room to live comfortably. First of all, most apartments in major cities are typically tiny while it is relatively rare to have extra outside space, such as a lawn or a yard. Thus, being creative in utilizing the space properly is one of the main traits for living a happy life in the city. In addition, city life is also commonly associated with a decrease in physical exercise. On top of limited green spaces, the urban lifestyle leaves people with little or no time to exercise. Only those who are serious about maintaining their health through exercise would search for gyms.

On the other hand, big cities are attractive places to settle due to better job and educational opportunities. There are more employment and learning possibilities in cities. Although the job market is considerably more competitive, there are numerous employment possibilities and a wide array of jobs in which to participate. There are even more occupations available for educated and high-skilled workers, ranging from labor positions, clerks, and customer service to jobs such as engineers, physicians, and scientists. Furthermore, cities provide greater educational prospects as well as a plethora of courses and institutions. Families with children may also find it more advantageous to relocate to the city, where they will be exposed to a more advanced and modern education system.

In conclusion, despite the fact that larger cities are vulnerable to a shortage of space, which promotes unhealthy lifestyles, greater employment and educational opportunities make these locations desirable to live in.

6. Advantage

In today's world, the population of metropolitan regions is growing. Although these places have traffic and pollution problems, their cultural richness and vibrant communities make them attractive places to live.

On the one hand, metropolitan regions have enormous traffic and pollution issues. First of all, the city's biggest concern is traffic, especially in central business districts. This is because a substantial proportion of the urban population prefers private transportation to public transportation for convenience reasons. As a result, avoiding traffic in metropolitan areas is impossible. Because of this nuisance , city dwellers must constantly leave their houses early for work. In addition, pollution is also unavoidable when discussing metropolitan life. Some of the causes of city air, water, and noise pollution include high carbon emission rates, contaminated drinking water, and excessive decibel levels. In cities such as Los Angeles, other sources of pollution also include the growing use of motorized transportation and the massive quantity of waste generated.

On the other hand, cities are desirable locations to reside in because of their thriving communities and diversity of cultures. The reason is that people from varied ethnic backgrounds commonly flock to certain mega-cities. In these places, individuals would have more opportunities to explore other cultures. As one becomes more accustomed to the city lifestyle, the chances of forming friendships and developing meaningful connections increase. Cities are the perfect places for people to develop their group of connections and networks, thus gaining better life experiences. Furthermore, leading a busy life in a fast-paced metropolis may be the key to finding true happiness as people feel they are steadily working towards their dreams. According to research, there is a positive correlation between people's levels of life satisfaction and the pace at which they spend their lives.

In conclusion, while cities often have traffic and pollution issues, their cultural diversity and lively communities make them ideal locations to live.

7. Advantage

The population of urban areas is increasing in today's world. Although this tendency has some environmental risks, people continue to migrate to cities since they provide better overall facilities and healthcare.

On the one hand, metropolitan areas pose a threat to the environment. Even while cities cover only a small percentage of the Earth's surface, they have an extraordinary concentration of population, industry, and energy usage. This causes massive local pollution and environmental deterioration since they are also large producers of greenhouse gas emissions, trash, and pollutant emissions in water and air. Furthermore, cities' ecological footprints extend well beyond their urban boundaries to forests, farms, rivers, and other surfaces to provide food and water to their population. Cities are, therefore, hubs of consumerism , which have a detrimental influence on the surrounding rural, regional, and global ecosystems as they deplete natural resources.

On the other hand, people still flock to major cities because of their superior general facilities and healthcare. Cities frequently have hospitals and nursing homes with skilled doctors and good medication to care for us when we have illnesses. Moreover, numerous gyms and parks would also further encourage people to stroll and exercise. With growing environmental concerns, most urban areas now also have pollution control departments to better manage waste and strong sewage systems to keep sanitary . High-tech cities , such as Berlin and Tokyo, have also invested in solar energy, and solar panels are currently being installed on several skyscrapers.

In conclusion, despite certain environmental risks, people still relocate to metropolises due to their favorable systems for facilities and medical services.

City Life offers lots of benefits such as better infrastructure, medical care, education, entertainment venues, etc. So, most people can be drawn to city life and there has always been a high rate of migration from rural to urban areas. However, contrary to popular belief of comfortable city life, it has both benefits and drawbacks as explained below;

The most significant benefit of living in an urban area can be attributed to better transportation. People can choose to take public transportation, walk, or ride their bikes instead of paying exorbitant petrol and maintenance costs. The good news is that major urban areas have cutting-edge train and bus infrastructure. These modes of transportation offer frequent service at reasonable pricing. This increases the comfort and affordability of travel.

Cities are packed with open spaces, concert halls, museums, theatres, cultural attractions, and other entertainment options. Several options are available in these densely populated places for maximizing your free time. Other than large retailers, skyscrapers, & office buildings, the arts and entertainment in a city can also be a draw.

Some experiences that aren't available in smaller towns can be found in urban places. Cities offer distinctive & memorable dining and shopping options, including departmental stores, boutiques, and ethnic food stores. You may visit malls and other business establishments if you need more goods.

There are a variety of eateries available for folks who have a busy schedule and cannot prepare their food. You can order online, which is much more practical. The meal of your choice will be brought right to your door while you are working from home. The lengthy wait won't be an issue because it will be quick. Additionally, every courier is kind, amiable, and competent.

Typically, equipment and services are less abundant in rural areas than in cities. The rural population is thus compelled to relocate to an urban area, for instance, to undergo surgeries, pursue higher education, or obtain more specialized medical help.

There should be thousands or perhaps millions of people living in a city. Many think living in an urban area makes it impossible to find comfort and peace. Nevertheless, it is always feasible no matter how many individuals there are.

There will be a benefit for you given the high population percentage. It offers limitless social potential for making friends and networking. Cities also have tremendous diversity, while individuals from similar backgrounds segregate into neighborhoods. Additionally, by residing here, you can expand your professional network. Further, it will foster personal bonds.

The lack of modern hospital equipment in a rural place is the issue. The sick individual doesn't always get the most excellent care when hospitalized at a suburban medical facility. Sometimes visiting doctors will advise them to transfer to a hospital in a city, which is incredibly stressful and inconvenient for them.

Low-quality amenities are not an issue in urban areas. Hospitals are outfitted with cutting-edge technology, a group of elite medical professionals, or first-rate services. The only drawback is the high cost. However, there are many associated with medical insurance that can be used to cover high medical care costs.

Cities are thriving hubs of distinct & memorable cultures that offer chances to engage with the neighborhood. Many exciting options are available, including parks, clubs, restaurants, theatres, art galleries, etc. Whatever your interests, there are many pleasant activities available. You won't have any regrets about having a good time there.

You also choose to reside in a city as city life is comfortable. You have access to whatever you need. Transportation is easy, whether you need to go to work or get supplies for your house. And having fun on a night out is much easier and safe as not worrying about catching the last bus relieves you of that burden.

Living in a city has many outstanding advantages, like having easy access to jobs and education. The city offers you the chance to learn and grow, whether your goal is to obtain a bachelor's degree, pursue post-baccalaureate education, or look for employment opportunities. Additionally, you can perform voluntary work.

Although this might vary in some locations, the best educational institutes are concentrated in urban areas. Due to the variety of schools offered, many individuals decide to move there. There is a variation in academic levels, starting at the lowest levels, like primary and secondary. Selecting your school or even the school for your children from various possibilities is one of the many benefits of living in a city. There are numerous choices, both public and private schools, colleges and other educational institutions.

Naturally, only some buildings in a city are a place to live or work. There are areas where you can pass the time by amusing or diverting yourself. There are numerous green spots where you can go for walks, engage in sports, and coexist in addition to pubs, restaurants, movies, and museums.

The real estate options are more significant in the city, allowing you to select from single or condominium homes, apartments, or even multi-purpose buildings that make your life easier by serving as homes, businesses, and offices.

Living in an overcrowded metropolis is the biggest drawback of urban existence. Because of the limited space and late-night events, your privacy is restricted. Privacy is simple to get in rural areas as compared to a city. The majority of structures are congested in a city. The most typical option is apartment living. As a result of being surrounded by so many people, your ability to maintain personal privacy will be compromised.

It is predicted that an urban area attracts more people. The demand for housing increases due to the requirement to accommodate this population. A sharp price increase results from the public's great need. Each apartment is rented out for a hefty rent. The expense of outright acquisitions is even higher.

Typically, green spaces are rare in urban contexts. The remarkable thing is that even if they exist they can be challenging to find. People seek out these areas to engage in healthy physical activities like walking and running. There are fewer parks and other public spaces.

The two biggest problems in metropolitan areas are motorized transportation and human waste. As a result, the atmosphere contains a significant amount of dangerous gases. Urban areas, in contrast to rural lifestyles, suffer from a lack of clean air, which causes substantial illnesses.

Have you ever spent months residing in a city? How did you find it, exactly? What insights on the populace did you gain? You may have noticed that urban environments value individuality. There needs to be more of a sense of community. Most people may be focused on their affairs. They ignore even their friends and neighbors.

Everyone may find it challenging to maintain the frantic pace of city life, as there is occasionally no time for rest. People's health might suffer when stressed, whether at work or home.

Cities are known for their heavy traffic, making getting from one location to another challenging. The physical strain is felt by the automobiles' noise and pollutants and the time wasted in a traffic jam.

With so many people living there, some services might only be ideal for some residents. Some colonies experience issues because of a shortage of water, power outages, and constant light.

Violence in impoverished communities has increased due to a high unemployment rate in prominent city neighborhoods. Smuggling, narcotrafficking, and human trafficking are all examples of these heinous crimes. Asia, Africa, and Latin America all experience this problem severely. You may find it difficult to live somewhere without a sense of community.

Urban living may be challenging when you live alone. However, urban living also offers lots of benefits such as when time is tough you can visit shopping centers, eat at restaurants, and tour the area to have fun!

Short Essay On City Life Vs Village Life

City life and village life are two different ways of living, each with its own unique advantages and disadvantages. While city life is fast-paced and dynamic, village life is calm and peaceful. Both ways of life offer different experiences, and the choice between the two often comes down to personal preferences and priorities.

City life is characterized by fast-paced living, with a high level of activity and a constant buzz of excitement. Cities are centers of commerce, industry, and culture, and offer a wide range of employment, educational, and entertainment opportunities. City life is also more convenient, with easy access to shops, hospitals, and other facilities.

However, city life also comes with its own set of challenges. Cities are often crowded, with high levels of pollution and noise. Housing costs can be high, and the fast-paced lifestyle can be stressful and overwhelming. In cities, it can also be difficult to find a sense of community, and people may feel disconnected from their neighbors and the world around them.

Village life, on the other hand, is characterized by calm and peaceful living. Villages offer a close-knit community and a sense of connectedness to the land and nature. People in villages are often more connected to each other and to their environment, and the pace of life is generally slower and more relaxed.

However, village life also has its own set of challenges. Villages are often isolated, with limited access to basic facilities such as shops, schools, and hospitals. Employment opportunities can be limited, and people may have to travel long distances to find work. Villages also tend to be more conservative and traditional, which can limit opportunities for personal growth and self-expression.

In conclusion, city life and village life are two different ways of living, each with its own unique advantages and disadvantages. The choice between the two often comes down to personal preferences and priorities, and there is no right or wrong answer. Both city life and village life offer different experiences, and it is up to each individual to decide which is best for them.

Long Essay On City Life Vs Village Life

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a city or a village? With contrasting lifestyles, city life and village life provide two different perspectives on how humans can live. In this article, we will explore the differences between city life and village life so that readers can make their own informed decisions about which lifestyle appeals to them the most.

Introduction: Definition of City Life and Village Life

City life and village life are two different types of living. City life is fast-paced and full of hustle and bustle. There are many people and things to see and do. Village life is slower paced and more laid back. There are fewer people and things to see and do.

city life vs village life essay introduction

When it comes to city life vs village life, there are a few key differences that you should know about. For starters, city life is typically much faster paced than village life. There are more people in cities, which means there is more happening at any given time. This can be great if you’re someone who enjoys being busy and having a lot to do. However, it can also be overwhelming for some people.

Another key difference between city life and village life has to do with the amount of space that each offers. Cities are often much more crowded than villages, which can make them feel cramped and claustrophobic. Villages tend to have more open space, which can be refreshing if you’re used to the hustle and bustle of city living.

Finally, another key difference between these two types of living is the cost of living. Cities tend to be more expensive than villages, simply because there is more demand for goods and services. If you’re on a budget, then village life may be a better option for you.

Advantages of City Life

City life has a number of advantages over village life. For one, cities are generally more economically prosperous than villages. This means that there are more job opportunities and a greater variety of goods and services available. Cities also tend to offer better educational and medical facilities than villages.

In addition, city life is generally more exciting and stimulating than village life. There is more to do and see in a city, and the pace of life is generally faster. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your preferences.

Advantages of Village Life

Village life has its own unique charm. It is peaceful and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The people in villages are friendly and close-knit. There is a strong sense of community in villages.

Village life is simple and natural. People in villages lead a healthy lifestyle as they are not exposed to the pollution and noise of cities. They eat fresh and organic food, which is good for their health.

Village life gives you a chance to connect with nature. You can enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and the peace of mind that comes with it. Village life is an ideal way to escape the stresses of city life.

Disadvantages of City Life

Though city life has many advantages, there are also several disadvantages of living in a city. Here are some of the main disadvantages of city life:

1. Cost of living is higher in cities. This is because real estate is more expensive in cities and there are also more expenses for things like transportation and utilities.

2. There is more pollution and congestion in cities. This can lead to health problems from exposure to pollution and also from stress caused by the crowded conditions.

3. There is less personal space and privacy in cities. With so many people living in close proximity, it can be difficult to find a place to yourself or to have any sense of privacy.

4. There is more crime in cities. With more people comes more opportunities for crime, and the anonymity of city life makes it easier for criminals to get away with their crimes.

5. There can be a feeling of isolation in cities. With so many people around, it can be easy to feel like you’re just a small part of the crowd and that no one really knows you.

Disadvantages of Village Life

One of the main disadvantages of village life is the lack of access to basic amenities and services. villagers have to travel long distances to get basic necessities like healthcare, education, and even clean water. This can be a huge burden, especially for families with young children or elderly members.

Another downside of living in a village is the limited job opportunities. Most villages are too small to support businesses or industries, so villagers typically work in agriculture or related fields. This can make it difficult to earn a good income, which can lead to poverty and other problems.

Finally, village life can be quite isolating compared to city life. There are usually fewer people around, and there may not be much to do in terms of entertainment and social activities. This can make it hard to meet new people and make friends.

Comparison Between City and Village Life

There are many differences between city and village life. Most significantly, the pace of life is much faster in a city. This can be seen in the way that people move around, the way that they interact with each other, and the way that they work. In a village, people tend to know each other well and there is a strong sense of community. Life in a city is often more anonymous and people are less likely to stop and chat with each other.

Work patterns are also different in cities and villages. In a city, most people work long hours in office buildings or factories. They may only see their families for a few hours each day or week. In a village, people often have more flexible work patterns. They may work from home or have jobs that allow them to take breaks during the day to spend time with their families.

The environment is another key difference between city and village life. Cities are typically full of concrete buildings, busy roads, and polluting factories. Villages are usually greener, with more open space and fresh air.

Of course, there are also some similarities between city and village life. Both types of communities typically have schools, shops, and medical facilities. And both cities and villages can be lively places full of culture and interesting people.

City life and village life are two different worlds apart. Though both offer their own unique advantages, city life has far more benefits than living in a rural area. With better technology, career opportunities, and educational facilities of higher quality, living in the city is definitely the better choice for anyone looking to progress in their lives. That being said, everyone should experience both lifestyles before deciding which one suits them best; after all, it’s always good to have options!

City life, with its unique blend of opportunities and challenges, is a fascinating study in contrasts. It offers a kaleidoscope of experiences that can enrich and transform lives. However, it also demands adaptability and resilience to navigate its challenges. As more people migrate to cities, understanding the nuances of city life becomes increasingly important. It is a journey of discovery, growth, and adaptation, as one learns to thrive in the urban jungle.

Advantages and Disadvantages of City Life

Advantages and Disadvantages of City Life

Living in a city has its advantages and disadvantages. The city offers modern amenities like tall buildings, schools, hospitals, markets, supermarkets, and other modern places. It is easy to find work and there is a choice of public transport. There are also many interesting things to do and places to see, such as good restaurants, museums, theatres, and concerts. However, the cost of living in a city is often very expensive, and it is difficult to find good cheap accommodation. Public transport can be crowded and dirty, and even the parks can become crowded. Despite all the crowds, it is possible to feel lonely in a city. Overall, city life can be appealing to young people who like the excitement of the city, but many people prefer the peace and fresh air of the countryside, especially when they have young children.

Living in the city has its advantages and disadvantages. The positive aspects of cities include their modernity with tall buildings, schools, hospitals, markets, super markets, and other contemporary places. Additionally, finding employment opportunities is generally easier in cities and there are various public transportation options to choose from which eliminates the need for car ownership. Cities also provide a wide range of engaging activities and attractions to explore such as dining at high-quality restaurants, visiting museums, attending theater performances, and enjoying concerts.

Moreover, living in an urban area offers various possibilities for unwinding. You can opt to visit a park and engage in duck-feeding or seek solace on a park bench with a book. The city is always bustling with energy and diversity, ensuring perpetual excitement. However, alongside these advantages come disadvantages too. Despite the abundance of job opportunities, engaging in leisure activities can be arduous if one’s income is insufficient due to the high cost of living. Moreover, finding affordable and satisfactory housing can pose significant challenges.

In addition, public transportation can be crowded and dirty, especially during busy times. Similarly, parks can also become overcrowded, especially on Sundays when city residents look for open spaces and green lawns. Moreover, despite the large number of people, it is possible to feel isolated in a city. In conclusion, I believe that young individuals who enjoy the excitement of city life and are not bothered by noise and pollution may find urban living very appealing. However, as people get older—particularly when they have young children—many often prefer the peace and fresh air found in rural areas.

Advantages and Disadvantages of City and Country Life

essay advantages and disadvantages of city life

Writing an argumentative essay

Rural and urban life is so different. Write about the advantages and disadvantages of life in the city and in the country.

Some people prefer living in big cities while others enjoy their life in the country. It is absolutely normal because urban and rural life has its positive and negative sides.

What are the advantages of city life?  Firstly, life in the city is much easier than in the country because cities have a developed transport system, a sewerage system and better services such as telephone, central heating, gas, electricity and the Internet.

Secondly, there is far more entertainment in the city than in the country. There are lots of shopping centres, cinemas, theatres, concert halls, discos, night clubs, art galleries, cafes and restaurants. It’s easy to choose where to hang out with your friends and have fun, relax at night or at the weekends. There are also lots of opportunities to do sports as you may join a great variety of clubs.

Thirdly, in the cities people have more chances to be employed and to succeed, because you may find an interesting and well paid job and climb the ladder of success.

Moreover, the city people are more open-minded and use different sources of information.

As for the disadvantages of the city life they are the following. There is too much noise, traffic and too much garbage. But air and water pollution is the greatest disadvantage of the city life today.

In addition, the criminal situation is not good and there is much stress in the city life.

Why do people like to stay in the countryside?  First of all, life in the country is quiet, peaceful and healthy. People are closer to the nature and friendlier.

I’d like to mention the disadvantages of rural life. It’s difficult to find a job, working and living conditions are  difficult.  What is more, social and cultural life is not full of  entertainment. That’s why more and more young people flee from the country for a better life in the city.

To make a conclusion, I’d like to say that life in the city seems more appealing and interesting for me.

Nowadays, more and more people choose to live in the city. In this essay, I will discuss about the advantages and disadvantages of living in the city.

It can't be denied that living in the city has many benefits. First of all, if we live in the city, we will have many chances get the developing science and technology. It means that we will have more job opportunities and broaden our knowledge more easily. Secondly, we will have many different ways to spend our free time. There are a lot of theatres, concerts and other kinds of entertainment. There is always a lot to do and visit There are a lot of possibilities of shopping. In various shopping centres and galleries you can buy whatever you want. What is more, a big city is a potential market for trading activities, so we can earn more money to provide our family a comfortable life

Besides advantages, living in the city brings to us a lot of disadvantages. Firstly, a problem about which everyone is worrying is environment. The increase of factories based on industrialization and modernization has severely polluted environment. Smoke from factories' chimneys not only pollutes the air but also makes people get many serious cancers. Sewage is bumped into rivers without being purged, which threatens underwater ecosystems. The second drawback of living in the city is society's vices such as drug addiction. Young people. especially the students, are easily spoiled by bad habits. If people use up all the money, they can't control themselves and even become robbers or murders. Moreover, a problem that many people living in the city have is heartlessness. With some people, it's not worth being worried and it has no effect on our life, people are too busy to care for any others. But if more and more people become heartless, the society will be worse, no one cares another one, they live boring lives, every purposes became meaningless, without love, sympathy and many other good things.

There are good things as well as bad thing of living in the city. However, I strongly believed that advantages outweigh disadvantages. If people know how to live and enjoy their life, living in the city is one of the most interesting things that people want to experience.

Living in urban areas brings many great advantages. Firstly, it offers a great convenience of services to its dwellers. As a result, they stand the chance to receive the best possible healthcare and enjoy the entertainment options, as there is a huge range of recreational places and healthcare systems available in every city. Secondly, the urban areas open avenue for job hunting. Most of the corporate offices, factories, government offices, garments and companies are either situated in a city or close to the city. Finally, the recent advancements in technology and transportation comfort the urban lifestyle. The large number of transports facilities has made life easy to live in the metropolis areas and the commuting to work is not a problem. Furthermore, the media and means of communication enables people to get information, catch up with the latest. To sum up, living in a big city is generally considered to be beneficial in multiple ways.

It's undeniable that Living in a big city brings great advantages but also some significant drawbacks.

Big cities are major cultural centers that have vibrant art and music scenes, a wider variety of food, more places of interest such as museums, events like ball games and concerts, and a diverse population with a shared experience of city living. There is always something to do in a major city to keep people of all different interests from getting bored. Most cities have a lively nightlife, different types of food to try, shows of all types, museums, landmarks, parks, festivals, sports games, and much more. The public transportation system in major cities is a good alternative to driving yourself and dealing with the traffic and parking situation. Cities have trains or subways, buses, and plenty of taxis and ride sharing drivers so you can get where you need to go.

However, living in the urban areas still has many disadvantages. The higher cost of living is the first disadvantage that people typically think of when considering moving to a city. Cities have more people and more traffic that contribute to the noise, as well as trains and nearby airports with loud planes flying in and out. Special events such as concerts and ball games can also make a neighborhood louder and more congested.

To sum up, although life in the city is difficult, it also gives me many benefits.

Nowadays, large cities are becoming more and more inhabited. The majority of the population prefer living in a big town mainly because of the great advantages it has compared to living in the countryside. However, what are the benefits of this situation, and what are the drawbacks? In this essay, I will explore the pros and cons of living in a large city and try to draw some conclusions.

Let’s start looking at the advantages. One of the main positives of a big town is the large amount of shops available in every corner of the city. What I mean by this is that whenever you live, there are some useful stores supermarkets, banks, tobacconists and clothing stores where you can easily buy everything you need without going to the city center. Secondly, living in a big town is a big challenge for evening parties. In London, for example, there are so many things to do in the evenings going to the cinema, to the pub or to the park during the summer period.

Turning to the other side of the argument, traffic could be one of the major disadvantages of living in a big city. Many people take the car everyday and it has also been proved that the majority of the families have at least two cars. This means that you have to deal with rush-hour traffic on your way to work and on your way back. In addition, in a big town there is consequently a lot of smog and this can really affect people’s health.

To sum up, living in a big city has great advantages but also some significant negatives. You have to weigh up to the pros of enjoying evenings’ nights outside and the availability of many shops and the cons of cope with smog and traffic issues. Personally, I believe that the benefits of enjoying the city-life and the comfort of having shops at every corner, eventually overweigh the negatives.

I was born and raised in the heart of Hanoi city. I love Hanoi and my life right now. My family lives in an apartment in Dong Da district. The cost to live here is quite high. My parents have to work a lot to make sure I live the most comfortable. Everyone here is very sociable and friendly. Because it is the city center, it is always crowded and bustling here. You can buy anything you want. There are many shops selling different items to choose from. You can go anywhere with the bus. When you live in the city, you will be very familiar with the malls. This is a place for shopping and also a place for entertainment. My parents will take me to the mall once a week to buy essential items for my family and myself. I joined a badminton club in the apartment complex to exercise after stressful school hours. One feature of the city that I like very much is that its roads are very flat and easy to navigate. Night food in Hanoi is a culmination. You can easily find a great place to eat here. Life in the city has many wonderful things. That is the reason so many people have always wanted to be able to live here. I always try to deserve the wonderful life my parents give me.

Starting last year I started college. So I need to move to the city where I go to. For a student like me, living in the city is not easy. All costs in the city are more expensive than in the countryside. Therefore, besides studying, I have to work part-time to have living expenses. The city was always crowded and noisy. If you go out into the street at 10 pm you will still see a lot of people and cars on the road. One thing that I find very inconvenient is traffic congestion. In cities, especially in central areas, during peak hours, it is extremely congested. DO has a lot of transportation so the atmosphere in the city is full of dust and smoke. Since I live alone, I have very few friends here. That is why I often miss home. When I have free time I often call my mother to tell her about my experiences. Although life in the city is difficult, it also gives me many benefits. I feel more mature.

It's no doubt that living in the urban areas brings both benefits and drawbacks.

Living in the city has lots of advantages. First of all, modern facilities in the city help you access to the best infrastructure in your country. For example, the roads are better, there more kind entertainments, better educations, modern skyscrapers and hospitals,.. As a results, you can enjoy the best social services as well as never get bored with the life in the city. There are many recreation parks, clubs and outdoor activities to join, or shopping centres to shop, movie theaters, music concerts… Besides, when you pursue your career, remember that the head quarters of big corporations are always located in big cities, never in the countryside. So if you want to have a successful career or well paid job, stay in the city and find a suitable job as well as expand your knowledge to have chance of promotion.

Besides advantages, living in a city still has some disadvantages. Pollution is the most serious issue in the city. There are many kinds of pollution in the city such as air pollution, noise pollution, light pollution, water pollution, etc. Furthermore, such a large number of vehicles make the road crowded and so the traffic jams occur usually during rushing hour. Additionally, the rate of accidents happening and the rate of crime make people worried when living in the city. Many young people living are easily spoiled by bad habits in including social vices. Because many people want to rush the city to find jobs, they put the pressure on food, water and shelters to live. City officials often meet difficult dealing with building houses for immigrants.

In conclusion, although living in the city has many drawbacks, I believe that many people want to live there because there are many opportunities there in stead of staying in countryside with a low paid job.
