ప్ర‌తి ద‌ర్శ‌కుడికీ ఓ ముద్ర ఉంటుంది. ఇంగ్లీష్‌లో స్టైల్ అంటారు. అదే… త‌న బ‌లం. దుర‌దృష్టం ఏమిటంటే అదే త‌న బ‌ల‌హీన‌త‌. వెంక‌ట్ ప్ర‌భుకీ ఓ బ‌లం ఉంది. త‌న క‌థ‌ల‌న్నీ స్క్రీన్ ప్లే మ్యాజిక్ తో సాగుతుంటాయి. క‌థ‌ల్లో గొప్ప‌ద‌నం ఏమీ ఉండ‌దు. కానీ ఆ క‌థ‌ని చెప్పే విధానంలో మాత్రం త‌న స్టైల్ క‌నిపిస్తుంది. టైమ్ లూప్ జోన‌ర్లో చాలా సినిమాలొచ్చాయి. అయితే… వాటిలో మాస్ట‌ర్ పీస్ గా నిలిచిన సినిమా.. `మానాడు`. దానికి కార‌ణం…. వెంక‌ట్ ప్ర‌భు ఈ సినిమాలో అనుస‌రించిన స్క్రీన్ ప్లే విధానం. త‌ను నాగ‌చైత‌న్య‌తో క‌లిసి ఓ సినిమా చేస్తున్నాడు అన‌గానే.. ఇందులో కూడా స్క్రీన్ ప్లే మ్యాజిక్ క‌నిపిస్తుంద‌ని అంతా ఆశిస్తారు. మ‌రి క‌స్ట‌డీలో ఆ వెంక‌ట్ ప్ర‌భు చేసిన క‌థ‌న మాయాజాలం ఏమిటి?  క‌నీసం ఈసారైనా అక్కినేని అభిమానులకు ఊర‌ట‌నిచ్చే విజ‌యం ల‌భించిందా, లేదా?  క‌స్ట‌డీ ఎలా ఉంది?

శివ (నాగ‌చైత‌న్య‌) కానిస్టేబుల్ గా ప‌నిచేస్తుంటాడు. త‌న‌కో ప్రేమ క‌థ ఉంది. చిన‌నాటి స్నేహితురాలు రేవ‌తి (కృతి శెట్టి)ని ఇష్ట‌ప‌డ‌తాడు. కానీ రేవ‌తి ఇంట్లో మ‌రో పెళ్లి సెట్ చేస్తారు. తెల్లారితే ముహూర్తం. ఎలాగైనా స‌రే.. రేవ‌తి పెళ్లి ఆపాల‌ని ప్ర‌య‌త్నిస్తున్న శివ‌కి దార్లో ఊహించ‌ని ఘ‌ట‌న ఎదురవుతుంది. ఓ కేసులో రాజు (అర‌వింద్ స్వామి)ని అరెస్ట్ చేసి స్టేష‌న్‌కి తీసుకొస్తాడు. అత‌నొక పెద్ద క్రిమిన‌ల్ అని త‌ర‌వాత తెలుస్తుంది. పోలీస్‌స్టేష‌న్‌లోనే రాజుని చంపేయాల‌ని ఓ ముఠా రంగంలోకి దిగుతుంది. వారి నుంచి రాజుని త‌ప్పించి  సీబీఐ కోర్టులో హాజ‌రు ప‌రిచే బాధ్య‌త శివ‌పై ప‌డుతుంది. ఓ సాధార‌ణ కానిస్టేబుల్‌.. ఈ ప‌ని ఎలా చేయ‌గ‌లిగాడు?  ఈ దారిలో త‌న‌కెదురైన ఆటంకాలు ఎలాంటివి?  అనేది మిగిలిన క‌థ‌.

వెంక‌ట్ ప్ర‌భు సినిమాల్లో గొప్ప క‌థ‌లుండ‌వు. కానీ త‌న స్క్రీన్ ప్లే మాయాజాలాన్ని చూపించ‌డానికి త‌గిన సెట‌ప్ మాత్రం చేసుకొంటాడు. అలాంటి సెట‌ప్ ఈ క‌థ‌లోనూ ఉంది. ఓ భ‌యంక‌ర‌మైన క్రిమిన‌ల్ ఓ సాధార‌ణ‌మైన కానిస్టేబుల్ క‌స్ట‌డీకి వ‌స్తే.. త‌న‌ని ర‌క్షించుకొంటూ, సీబీఐ కోర్టుకి ఎలా హాజ‌రుప‌రిచాడ‌న్న సింపుల్ లైన్‌ని వెంక‌ట్ ప్ర‌భు త‌న‌దైన స్క్రీన్ ప్లే మ్యాజిక్ తో చెప్పాల‌నుకొన్నాడు. అయితే… ఈ క‌థ‌లో సెట‌ప్ మిన‌హాయిస్తే… క‌థ‌నంలో మాయాజాలం మాత్రం మిస్స‌య్యింది. బాంబు బ్లాస్టు సీన్ త‌ర‌వాత‌.. క‌థ నేరుగా.. ల‌వ్ స్టోరీలోకి వెళ్లిపోతుంది.  అంత‌కు ముందు.. హీరో నిజాయితీని ఓ రొటీన్ సీన్ తో ప‌రిచ‌యం చేసి, వెంట‌నే పాటేసుకొన్నాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. రేవ‌తితో ల‌వ్ స్టోరీ అత్యంత సాదాసీదాగా సాగి ప్రేక్ష‌కుల స‌హ‌నానికి ప‌రీక్ష పెడుతుంది. నిజానికి ఇలాంటి క‌థ‌ల్లో ల‌వ్ ట్రాకుల‌కూ, పాట‌ల‌కూ చోటు ఇవ్వ‌కూడ‌దు. కానీ.. తెలుగు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల అభిరుచిని త‌క్కువ‌గా, త‌ప్పుగా అంచ‌నా వేసిన త‌మిళ ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు… పాట‌లూ, ల‌వ్ ట్రాక్ అంటూ కాల‌యాప‌న చేశాడు. ఆ ల‌వ్ ట్రాక్‌లో కొత్త‌ద‌నం ఉంటే.. ప్రేక్ష‌కులు క్ష‌మించేద్దురు. కానీ.. కుల మ‌త అడ్డుగోడ‌లంటూ రొటీన్ సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ సృష్టించి ఇంకాస్త విసుగు తెప్పించాడు. అర‌వింద్ స్వామి ఎంట‌ర్ అయినప్ప‌టి నుంచీ.. క‌థ కాస్త దారిలో ప‌డుతుంది. నిజానికి క‌థ‌ని ఈ పాయింట్ ద‌గ్గ‌రే మొద‌లెట్టాల్సింది. అలా చేయాలంటే.. స్క్రీన్ ప్లే పై మ‌రింత క‌స‌ర‌త్తు చేయాలి. రాజు పాత్ర‌ని ప‌రిచ‌యం చేసే స‌న్నివేశాలు బాగుండాలి.  ల‌వ్ స్టోరీపై పెట్టిన శ్ర‌ద్ధ వాటిపై పెడితే ఫ‌లితం మ‌రోలా ఉండేది.

రాజుని పోలీస్ స్టేష‌న్‌లోకి తీసుకురావ‌డం, అక్క‌డ ఓ ముఠా రాజుని హ‌త‌మార్చడానికి ప్ర‌య‌త్నించ‌డం, అక్క‌డి నుంచి రాజుని కానిస్టేబుల్ త‌ప్పించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేయ‌డం.. ఇవ‌న్నీ ఆస‌క్తి క‌లిగిస్తాయి. క‌నీసం ఇక్క‌డి నుంచైనా క‌థ ప్రాధ‌మిక సూత్రాల‌కు అనుగుణంగా సాగితే బాగుండేది. హీరో ప‌క్క‌న హీరోయిన్ లేక‌పోతే గ్లామ‌ర్ దెబ్బ‌తింటుంద‌ని ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు భావించి ఉంటాడు. రేవ‌తి పాత్ర‌ని సైతం.. మార్చురీ వ్యాన్ ఎక్కించేశాడు. ఓ పాత్ర‌ని అన‌వ‌స‌రంగా క‌థ‌లోకి ఇరికించాల‌ని చూడ‌డం వ‌ల్ల క‌థ‌నానికి ఎంత ఇబ్బందో చెప్ప‌డానికి ఈ సినిమానే పెద్ద ఉదాహ‌ర‌ణ‌. హీరోయిన్ ఉంది రేవ‌తి పాత్ర క‌థ‌తో పాటు ట్రావెల్ చేయ‌డం వ‌ల్ల వచ్చిన ప్ర‌యోజ‌నాల కంటే… ప్ర‌తికూల అంశాలే ఎక్కువ‌గా క‌నిపిస్తాయి.

సెకండాఫ్ అంతా.. హీరో.. విల‌న్‌ని ర‌క్షించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నమే. దాంతో క్లైమాక్స్ ఏమిట‌న్న‌ది ముందే తేలిపోతుంది. ఇంతా చేసి.. విల‌న్‌ని ర‌క్షించాడా అంటే.. అదీ లేదు. చివ‌ర్లో ఓ వీడియో సందేశంతో.. హీరో త‌న ల‌క్ష్యాన్ని పూర్తి చేస్తాడు. ఇంతా చేసి, ఆఖ‌రికి తండ్రిని కూడా త్యాగం చేసిన హీరో ల‌క్ష్యానికి దూరంగానే ఆగిపోయాడేమో అనిపిస్తుంది. సెకండాఫ్‌లో ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు చేయ‌డానికి ఏం లేకుండా పోయింది. అందుకే అక్క‌డో ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ వ‌స్తుంది. అది కూడా సాదాసీదాగా సాగిపోయింది. జీవా లాంటి న‌టుడ్ని పెట్టుకొని కూడా స‌రైన రీతిలో ఎమోష‌న్ పండించ‌లేక‌పోయారు. ఈ క‌థ‌ని.. పర్స‌న‌ల్ రివైంజ్ డ్రామాగా మార్చాల్సిన అవ‌స‌రం కూడా లేదు. పైగా.. రాజు పాత్ర‌ని నెగిటీవ్ కోణంలోంచి, పాజిటీవ్ కోణంలో మార‌డం వ‌ల్ల క‌థ‌కు వ‌చ్చిన కొత్త లుక్ లేదు. ఆ పాత్ర‌ని భ‌యంక‌రంగానే చూపించాల్సింది. ఈ క‌థ‌లోకి స‌డ‌న్ గా వ‌చ్చి ప‌డిన‌ రాంకీ పాత్ర కూడా ఫ‌న్నీగా మారిపోయింది. ఆయ‌న ఓ సీన్‌లో అర్థాంరంగా వ‌చ్చి బుల్లెట్ల వ‌ర్షం కురిపిస్తాడు. ఇదంతా ఖైదీ సినిమా వ‌లం్ల వ‌చ్చిన సైడ్ ఎఫైక్ట్స్ అనుకోవాలి.

అయితే అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డ కొన్ని ఛ‌మ‌క్కులు మాత్రం కనిపిస్తాయి. ఇది రెండు భాష‌ల్లో తీసిన సినిమా. త‌మిళ వెర్ష‌న్ న‌టులు వేరు, తెలుగు వెర్ష‌న్ న‌టులు వేరు. తెలుగులో వెన్నెల కిషోర్ చేసిన పాత్ర‌ని త‌మిళంలో ప్రేమ్ జీ చేశారు. అయితే వీరిద్ద‌రినీ ఒకే ఫ్రేమ్‌లో చూపించి.. `తెలుగు వెర్ష‌నా.. అయితే నువ్వు వెళ్లు..` అని ప్రేమ్ జీ. వెన్నెల కిషోర్‌తో చెప్ప‌డం బాగుంది. 1989 … ఆ ప్రాంతంలో సాగే సినిమా ఇది. అయినా స‌రే.. వారియ‌ర్‌లో ఓ పాట‌ని పాడుకొంటూ.. `ఈ పాట ఎక్క‌డో విన్న‌ట్టు ఉందే` అని కృతి శెట్టి ఆలోచ‌న‌లో ప‌డ‌డం కూడా ఫ‌న్నీగానే ఉంది.

నాగ‌చైత‌న్య త‌న వ‌ర‌కూ బాగానే చేశాడు. క‌ష్ట‌ప‌డ్డాడు. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు ఏం చెబితే అది గుడ్డిగా ఫాలో అయ్యాడు. ఓ హిట్ ద‌ర్శ‌కుడ్ని న‌మ్మ‌డంలో త‌ప్పు లేదు. కానీ స‌రైన ప్ర‌తిఫ‌లం మాత్రం అంద‌లేదు. కృతి శెట్టి ని చూస్తే ఉప్పెన‌లోని గ్లామ‌ర్ అంతా ఎక్క‌డికిపోయిందో అనిపిస్తుంది. రాజు గా.. అర‌వింద్ స్వామి స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ ఆక‌ట్టుకొంటుంది. అయితే ఆ పాత్ర‌ని డిజైన్ చేసిన విధాన‌మే స‌రిగా లేదు. శ‌ర‌త్ కుమార్  ఓకే. ప్రియ‌మ‌ణి పాత్ర‌కు బిల్డ‌ప్ ఎక్కువ బిజినెస్ త‌క్కువ‌. వంట‌ల‌క్క‌.. ఈ సినిమాలో స్పెష‌లాఫ్ ఎట్రాక్ష‌న్‌.

ఇళ‌య‌రాజా, యువ‌న్ శంక‌ర్ రాజా.. వీరిద్ద‌రూ ఉన్నా, పాట‌ల్లో, నేప‌థ్య సంగీతంలో మెరుపులు లేవు. 1890 నేప‌థ్యం ఎంచుకోవ‌డం వ‌ల్ల‌.. ఈ క‌థ‌కు కొత్త‌గా ఒరిగిందేం లేదు. యాక్ష‌న్ సీక్వెన్స్‌లు బాగున్నాయి. ముఖ్యంగా పోలీస్ స్టేష‌న్ ఫైట్ బాగుంది. సింగిల్ షాట్ లో చూసిన ఫీలింగ్ క‌లుగుతుంది. వెంక‌ట్ ప్ర‌భు స్క్రీన్ ప్లే మ్యాజిక్ ఈ సినిమాలో క‌నిపించ‌లేదు. ఓ సాధార‌ణ‌మైన క‌థ‌ని, అంతే సాధార‌ణంగా చూపించి.. మ‌మ‌.. అనిపించాడు. మొన్న‌టికి మొన్న అఖిల్ ఇచ్చిన డిజాస్ట‌ర్ తో ఇబ్బంది ప‌డిన అక్కినేని ఫ్యాన్స్‌కి.. ఈసారి చైతూ కూడా ఊర‌ట ఇవ్వ‌లేక‌పోయాడు.

ఫినిషింగ్ ట‌చ్‌:  ప్రేక్ష‌కులే అరెస్ట్‌!

నాగచైతన్య ‘కస్టడీ’ సినిమా కోసం అక్కినేని ఫ్యాన్స్ ఎంతో ఆసక్తిగా ఎదురుచూశారు. కాగా ఈ చిత్రం ఈ రోజు విడుదలైంది. మరి ఈ సినిమా ప్రేక్షకులను ఏ స్థాయిలో ఆకట్టుకుందో చూద్దాం..

శివ (నాగ చైతన్య) ఒక సిన్సియర్ కానిస్టేబుల్. డ్యూటీ అంటే ప్రాణం పెడతాడు. మరోవైపు రేవతి (కృతి శెట్టి) తో ప్రేమలో ఉంటాడు. రేవతి కూడా శివని ప్రాణంగా ప్రేమిస్తోంది. అయితే, కులాలు వేరు కావడంతో రేవతి ఇంట్లో శివతో పెళ్లికి ఒప్పుకోరు. ఈ క్రమంలో జరిగిన నాటకీయ పరిణామాల నేపథ్యంలో రాజు (అరవింద్ స్వామి), సీబీఐ ఆఫీసర్ జార్జ్ (సంపత్ రాజ్)ను అరెస్ట్ చేసి స్టేషనుకు తీసుకొస్తాడు శివ. మరోవైపు రాజును చంపాడనికి పోలీస్ కమీషనర్ నటరాజన్ (శరత్ కుమార్) సహా ఏకంగా పోలీస్ ఫోర్స్, రౌడీలు రంగంలోకి దిగుతారు. అసలు ఈ రాజు ఎవరు?, రాజును ఎలాగైనా సిబిఐ కి అప్పగించాలని శివ ఎందుకు బలంగా ప్రయత్నం చేస్తాడు ?, ఈ ప్రయాణంలో శివకి ఎదురైన సవాళ్లు ఏమిటి? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

నాగచైతన్య తన కెరీర్ లో ఒక ఛాలెంజ్ గా ఈ సినిమాలోని శివ పాత్రలో నటించాడు. పైగా తన గత సినిమాల్లో కంటే ఈ సినిమాలో నాచైతన్య చాలా సెటిల్డ్ గా నటించాడు. ఇటు హీరోయిన్ కృతి శెట్టి తో ప్రేమ సన్నివేశాల్లో గాని, అటు యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాల్లో గాని నాగచైతన్య నటన బాగుంది. హీరోయిన్ గా నటించిన కృతి శెట్టి తన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకుంది. కొన్ని చోట్ల సందర్భానుసారంగా ఆమె పలికించిన హావభావాలు మరియు ఆమె నటన బాగుంది.

ఈ చిత్రానికి మరో ప్రధానాకర్షణ అరవింద్ స్వామి. నమ్మిందే న్యాయం అనుకుని అతని చేసే క్రైమ్ లో కూడా కామెడీ పడిస్తూ అరవింద్ స్వామి తన పాత్రకు పూర్తి న్యాయం చేశాడు. అరవింద్ స్వామి పలికిన కొన్ని డైలాగ్స్ కూడా పేలాయి. పోలీస్ కమీషనర్ నటరాజన్ గా శరత్ కుమార్ నటన బాగుంది. అలాగే ప్రియమణి, సంపత్ రాజ్, ప్రేమ్ జీ అమరెన్, ప్రేమి విశ్వనాథ్ లతో పాటు మిగిలిన నటీనటులు కూడా తమ పాత్ర పరిధి మేరకు బాగానే నటించారు.

ముఖ్యంగా వెన్నెల కిషోర్ తన కామెడీ టైమింగ్ తో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. అలాగే కొన్ని కీలక సన్నివేశలను దర్శకుడు వెంకట్ ప్రభు చాలా బాగా తెరకెక్కించాడు. ఇంటర్వెల్ సీక్వెన్స్ తో పాటు చేజింగ్ సీన్స్ ను, మరియు పాత్రలను డిజైన్ చేసిన విధానం బాగుంది.

కస్టడీ లో మెయిన్ కంటెంట్ అండ్ పాయింట్ బాగున్నా.. ట్రీట్మెంట్ విషయంలో కొన్ని చోట్ల స్లో అనిపించింది. దీనికితోడు దర్శకుడు వెంకట్ ప్రభు సెకండ్ హాఫ్ కథనం విషయంలో రాజీపడకుండా ఉండి ఉంటే బాగుండేది. ముఖ్యంగా సెకండాఫ్ లో సినిమా జరుగుతున్నంతసేపు తర్వాత ఏం జరుగుతుందనే ఉత్కంఠను ఇంకా పెంచగలిగే స్కోప్ ఉన్నపటికీ దర్శకుడు వెంకట్ ప్రభు ఆ అవకాశాన్ని పూర్తి స్థాయిలో సద్వినియోగం చేసుకోలేదు.

అలాగే సెకండ్ హాఫ్ ను కాస్త ఎమోషనల్ గా నడుపుదామని మంచి ప్రయత్నం చేశారు గాని, కొన్ని చోట్ల అది స్క్రీన్ మీద ఎఫెక్టివ్ గా వర్కౌట్ కాలేదు. అలాగే చాలా చోట్ల లాజిక్స్ కూడా లేకుండా ప్లేను డ్రైవ్ చేశారు. దీనికి తోడు కథ కూడా సింపుల్ గా ఉండటం, చివరకు ఏం జరుగుతుంది అనేది ప్రేక్షకులకు ముందే అర్థం అయిపోతుండటంతో సినిమాలో ఇంట్రెస్ట్ మిస్ అయింది.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం :

మంచి పాయింట్ ను తీసుకున్నా.. ఉత్కంఠభరితమైన కథనాన్ని రాసుకోవడంలో, దాన్ని ఇంకా ఉత్కంఠభరితంగా తెరకెక్కించడంలో వెంకట్ ప్రభు పూర్తి స్థాయిలో సక్సెస్ కాలేదు. అయితే, ఈ సినిమాకు పనిచేసిన సాంకేతిక టీమ్ పనితనం బాగుంది. సన్నివేశాలకు అనుగుణంగా సాంకేతిక వర్క్ సాగింది. సంగీత దర్శకులు ఇళయరాజా, యువన్ శంకర్ రాజా అందించిన సంగీతం బాగుంది. ఎస్ఆర్ కతీర్ ఐఎస్ సి సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ కూడా మెచ్చుకునేలా సాగింది. ఎక్కడా బ్యూటీ తగ్గకుండా ఈ చిత్రాన్ని తీర్చి దిద్దారు ఆయన. శ్రీనివాస చిట్టూరి నిర్మాణ విలువలు చాలా బాగున్నాయి.

కస్టడీ అంటూ వచ్చిన ఈ ఎమోషనల్ యాక్షన్ డ్రామాలో.. మెయిన్ పాయింట్ తో పాటు కొన్ని యాక్షన్ అండ్ కామెడీ సీన్స్ బాగున్నాయి. ఐతే, కథ సింపుల్ గా ఉండటం, స్క్రీన్ ప్లే కూడా స్లోగా సాగడం, అలాగే లాజిక్ లెస్ సీన్స్ వంటి అంశాలు సినిమాకి మైనస్ అయ్యాయి. అయితే, సినిమాలో చైతన్య యాక్టింగ్ తో పాటు మిగిలిన స్టార్ కాస్టింగ్ ఈ సినిమాకి ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణ. ఓవరాల్ గా ఈ చిత్రంలో కొన్ని ఎలిమెంట్స్ కనెక్ట్ అయినా, సినిమా మాత్రం పూర్తి స్థాయిలో ఆకట్టుకోలేకపోయింది.

Custody review: A competent cop drama that keeps the viewers invested in spite of its shortcomings

Venkat Prabhu’s latest directorial takes time to find its feet but eventually gets better as the plot becomes thicker.

Cop dramas usually have a superhero cop who takes on an army of villains and vigilante justice is delivered.  Venkat Prabhu’s Custody belongs to a slightly different space.

Here, Naga Chaitanya’s Shiva has the duty of protecting a goonda (criminal) and making sure that he is produced before the court, without any harm.

Another factor that makes Custody different from other movies of the same genre is the fact that Shiva is a constable, not a higher official. There is an underdog quality about him that makes him endearing.

The movie is set in the 1990s. Its opening shot is a terrible incident where 40 people die in a small town due to a gas cylinder blast. After that, we cut to the constable Shiva.

Shiva is someone who believes that human life is more important than anything else. This is wonderfully established when he rushes to stop the convoy of the Chief Minister (Priya Mani) so that an ambulance can pass.

Revathi (Krithi Shetty) is Shiva’s love interest. They both have a steady relationship for a while but there are some serious obstacles from her parents’ side.

Things take a turn with a car accident when Shiva is on the way to her house to save her from a forced marriage.

After the accident, two men are seen fighting – one is Raju (Aravind Swami) and the other is a CBI official George (Sampath Raj). Shiva ends up arresting both.

On reaching the police station, Shiva learns the true identity of Raju, a well-connected goonda with political backing. He needs to be produced at the Bangalore court in the next 24 hours to testify against some influential people.

Meanwhile, there is an assassination attempt to kill Raju before he reaches court. Shiva makes sure that the assassination attempt is not successful.

He and George escape from the police station with Raju. But IG Natraj (Sarathkumar) is hell-bent on making sure that Raju doesn’t reach the Bangalore court.

Adding to the mayhem, Revathi escapes from her house by making her prospective groom (Vennela Kishore) a bakra .

The rest of the story deals with whether Shiva is successful or not in producing Raju before the court and what happens to him and Revathi later.

Shortcomings & best moments

Custody begins engagingly. As viewers, we instantly connect with Shiva’s honesty and want him to succeed in whatever he does.

But things go haywire with the addition of the love story and also an irritating comedy track featuring Vennala Kishore.

The songs also come as major speed breakers, which is surprising, given that it is the first time that the father-son duo of Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvun Shankar Raja have worked together.

It is a step down from Ilaiyaraaja after a soulful soundtrack in Krishna Vamsi’s Rangamarthanda (2023).

Nevertheless, the plot becomes more engaging with the entry of Aravind Swami. The action set piece in the police station is wonderfully staged. Here, it has to be mentioned that, the background score is much better than the songs.

The cat-and-mouse chase involving Natraj, Raju and Shiva gives the film some of its best moments.

Another action stretch that deserves a mention is the pre-interval block involving an underwater sequence.

We see an unlikely bond developing between Shiva and Raju through the journey. This has been well-etched by Venkat Prabhu.

Impressive show by actors

Aravind Swami does a wonderful job in making sure that Raju, despite being a goonda, comes across as endearing. He also brings in some dry humour that raises many chuckles.

Much like in Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story (2021), here too, Naga Chaitanya plays an underdog and delivers a wonderful performance.

He does justice to the arc of the character which goes from a happy-go-lucky guy in the flashback to a determined young man in the present.

Krithi Shetty alternates between a typically chirpy heroine and a serious woman. She does it quite well in spite of the romantic track coming across as a hurdle.

Sarathkumar as Natraj makes for a formidable opposition.

Naga Chaitanya-Venkat Prabhu's Custody is capturing the attention of all as they are coming together for the first time. The film is a bilingual entertainer released even in other languages. The film's teaser and trailer got good responses and is releasing on 12 May 2023. The film's OTT streaming rights are yet to be finalised and date will be announced after the end of its theatrical run. 

Custody (2023) Telugu Movie: Story Review

Custody story is about an honest police constable who fights all odds to bring arrest a dreaded gangster and punish him according to the law. Shiva (Naga Chaitanya) is an honest police officer in Rajamundry and how his life changes drastically when he comes into contact with the dreaded gangster Raju aka Razu(Arvind Swamy).

What are the repercussions and how CM Dakshayani (Priyamani),  CBI Officer ( Sampath Raj), police officer Nataraj ( Sarath Kumar), driving school instructor Revathi (Krthi Shetty), his father (Goparaju Ramana) are connected to it from the crux of the story?

Custody Movie: Artists Review

Naga Chaitanya worked hard for his role. He put in lot of effort but everything went for a toss due to the poor content. He even tonee down his usual antics and changed his look for the role of the cop. Krithi Shetty is ok in her role that is inconsequential . Arvind Swamy is good in the role of a dreaded gangster. He tried to elevate the scenes with his performance but his role didn't offer much scope. Priyamani is ok in the role of chief minister. She showed good emotions as a arrogant CM. R.Sarathkumar, Sampath Raj played key roles in typical manner. Vennela Kishor irritates with his comedy. Ramki, YG.Mahendran, Ravi Prakash, Goparaju Venkataramana are ok in their roles.

Custody Movie: Technicians Review

Custody story selected by Venkat Prabhu is all about an honest officer and how he braved all odds and took risks for the society. Many such films came earlier but Venkat Prabhu decided to go with it and elevate the heroism of Naga Chaitanya to the new level. But alas, right from the start till the finish Venkat Prabhu much to the shock of all failed on all fronts.

Everything turned out to be routine and he spent the entire first half highlighting the romantic angle of the honest cop. Only ahead of the interval, the antagonist is introduced and people expect things to change in the second half. 

But the second half is loaded with action and chase sequences which after a point of time turned out to be illogical and silly and this disappoints all the fans and movie lovers. Finally, when the film ends, people heave a sigh of relief. Venkat Prabhu failed on all fronts be it story, screenplay, and direction. The script turned out to be the biggest drawback.

Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is just ok. The songs acted as speed brakers to the already spineless narration. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score turned out to be below average. The editing of Venkat Raajen left a lot to be desired. There are many drags that slowed the pace of the narration but he cannot be blamed as the story is outdated to the core. SR. Kathir's cinematography is ok. The dialogues of Abburi Ravi are just average. Production values of Srinivasaa Silver Screen are ok.

Altogether, Custody turned out to be an outdated story. Expectations soared as Naga Chaitanya teamed with Venkat Prabhu who earlier created a sensation with a thriller like Manaadu. Naga Chaitanya cannot be criticized but Venkat Prabhu failed to repose the confidence shown in him by Naga Chaitanya.

Venkat Prabhu failed in all the crafts and no amount of fine-tuning would have helped the project. The film is another example of how not to make a project. The top of it, the Tamil flavor makes viewers find it difficult to digest. This proved that associating with big names alone will not guarantee success and only strong story and content turn out tobe the king at the box office. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.25 Rating for Custody .

Custody movie review: ‘కస్టడీ’ మూవీ రివ్యూ.

గతేడాది నాగచైతన్య హీరోగా నటించిన థాంక్యూ, కీలక పాత్ర పోషించిన లాల్‌ సింగ్‌ చడ్డా..రెండూ బాక్సాఫీస్‌ వద్ద దారుణంగా బోల్తా పడ్డాయి. దీంతో గ్రేట్‌ కమ్‌ బ్యాక్‌ ఇవ్వాలనే పట్టుదలతో ‘కస్టడీ’ చిత్రం చేశాడు. సాలిడ్‌ హిట్‌తో పాటు తమిళ్‌లో కూడా తన మార్కెట్‌ పెంచుకోవాలని భావిస్తున్నాడు. అందుకే ‘కస్టడీ’ చిత్రాన్ని తెలుగుతో పాటు తమిళ్‌లో కూడా రిలీజ్‌ చేస్తున్నారు. ఇప్పటికే విడుదలైన ప్రచార చిత్రాలు సినిమాపై హైప్‌ని క్రియేట్‌ చేసింది. భారీ అంచనాల మధ్య నేడు (మే 12) ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చిన ఈ చిత్రం ఎలా ఉంది? చైతూకి సాలిడ్‌ హిట్‌ లభించిందా?లేదా? రివ్యూలో చూద్దాం. 

కథేంటంటే..  ఈ సినిమా కథంతా 1990 బ్యాక్‌ డ్రాప్‌ లో జరుగుతుంది. శివ(నాగచైతన్య).. సఖినేటిపల్లి పోలీస్‌ స్టేషన్‌లో ఓ సిన్సియర్‌ కానిస్టేబుల్‌. డ్యూటీ అంటే ప్రాణం పెడతాడు. ఓ సారి అంబులెన్స్‌కి దారి ఇప్పించడం కోసం ముఖ్యమంత్రి దాక్షాయణి(ప్రియమణి) కాన్వాయ్‌ని ఆపి వార్తల్లోకి ఎక్కుతాడు. శివకి డ్రైవింగ్‌ స్కూల్‌లో పనిచేసే రేవతి(కృతిశెట్టి) అంటే చాలా ఇష్టం. ఇద్దరు కలిసి పెళ్లి చేసుకోవాలనుకుంటారు.

అయితే కులాలు వేరుకావడంతో రేవతి ఫ్యామిలీ ఒప్పుకోదు. దీంతో ఇద్దరు కలిసి పారిపోదామనుకుంటారు. డ్యూటీ ముగించుకొని మరో కానిస్టేబుల్‌తో కలిసి రేవతి ఇంటకి వెళ్తున్న క్రమంలో ఓ కారు వచ్చి వీరి స్కూటర్‌ని గుద్దుతుంది. ఆ కారులో రాజు(అరవింద స్వామి), , సీబీఐ ఆఫీసర్ జార్జ్ (సంపత్ రాజ్) ఉంటారు. రాజు బాగా మద్యం సేవించి ఉండడంతో ఇద్దరిని అరెస్ట్‌ చేసి స్టేషన్‌కి తీసుకొస్తారు. విషయం తెలుసుకొని ఐజీ నటరాజన్‌(శరత్‌ కుమార్‌)తో సహా కొంతమంది రౌడీలో రాజుని చంపడానికి స్టేషన్‌కి వస్తారు. ఆ తర్వాత ఏం జరిగింది? అసలు రాజు నేపథ్యం ఏంటి? అతన్ని చంపడానికి పోలీసులతో పాటు సీఎం దాక్షాయణి మనుషులు ఎందుకు ప్రయత్నిస్తున్నారు? వారి నుంచి రాజుని రక్షించిన శివ.. బెంగళూరు ఎందుకు తీసుకెళ్లాడు? ఈ క్రమంలో అతను ఎదుర్కొన్న సవాళ్లు ఏంటి? అనేదే మిగతా కథ.

ఎలా ఉందంటే..  వెంకట్‌ ప్రభు సినిమాల్లో  స్క్రీన్‌ప్లే అద్భుతంగా ఉంటుంది. కథ పాతదే అయినా ఆయన ఇచ్చే ట్రీట్‌మెంట్‌ కొత్తగా ఉంటుంది. ఊహించని ట్విస్టులు ఉంటాయి. కస్టడీ చిత్రంలో వెంకట్‌ ప్రభు మ్యాజిక్‌ అంతగా వర్కౌట్‌ కాలేదు. అతని స్క్రీన్‌ప్లే మాయ కొన్ని చోట్ల మాత్రమే పని చేసింది. అయితే ఈ సినిమాలో కొత్తదనం ఏంటంటే.. ఒక విలన్‌ని కాపాడడానికి హీరో ప్రయత్నించడం. విలన్‌ని రక్షించుకోవడం కోసం హీరో పడ్డ కష్టాలు ఏంటి అనేది ఈ సినిమా కథ.  కథ బాగున్నప్పటికీ కథనం మాత్రం రొటీన్‌గా సాగుతుంది. 

సినిమా ప్రారంభమైన 20 నిమిషాల తర్వాత అసలు కథ మొదలవుతుంది. అప్పటి వరకు నడిపించిన లవ్‌స్టోరీ అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేదు. అరవింద్‌ స్వామి పాత్ర ఎంటర్‌ అయ్యాక కథ మొదలైయిందనే ఫీలింగ్‌ కలుగుతుంది. ఆ తర్వాత కథ కాస్త ఆసక్తిగా సాగుతుంది. ఇంటర్వెల్‌ సీన్‌ కూడా సాధారణంగానే ఉంటుంది. ఇక సెకండాఫ్‌లో కథ సీరియస్‌గా సాగుతుంది. కానీ తర్వాత ఏం జరుగుతుంది? క్లైమాక్స్‌ ఎలా ఉంటుంది అనేదే ముందే ఊహించొచ్చు. సెకండాఫ్‌లో వచ్చే ఎమోషనల్‌ సీన్స్‌,  ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్‌ సన్నివేశాలు అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేవు. దానికి తోడు స్లో నెరేషన్‌ కూడా ఇబ్బందిగా మారుతుంది.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే..  కానిస్టేబుల్‌ శివ పాత్రలో నాగచైతన్య ఒదిగి పోయాడు. యాక్షన్‌ సన్నివేశాలు ఇరగదీశాడు. రేవతిగా కృతీశెట్టి ఉన్నంతలో చక్కగా నటించింది. ఇక సినిమా మొత్తంలో అరవింద్‌ స్వామి పాత్రని బాగా హైలెట్‌ చేసే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు. అయితే అతనికి ఇచ్చే ఎలివేషన్‌ బాగున్నప్పటికీ.. దానికి తగ్గట్లుగా క్యారెక్టర్‌ డెప్త్‌ లేదు. ఇక ముఖ్యమంత్రి దాక్షాయణిగా ప్రియమణి పర్వాలేదనిపించింది.

అయితే ఆమె పాత్రకి బలమైన సన్నివేశాలు లేవు. పోలీసు ఉన్నతాధికారిగా శరత్‌ కుమార్‌ మెప్పించాడు. యాక్షన్‌ సన్నివేశాలు బాగానే చేశాడు. రాంకీ, జయసుధల పాత్రల నిడివి చాలా తక్కువ. ఆ పాత్రలకు ఇంతపెద్ద నటులు అవసరం లేదనిపిస్తుంది. హీరో అన్నయ్య విష్ణుగా జీవా, అతని ప్రియురాలుగా ఆనందితో పాటు మిగిలిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధిమేర నటించారు. 

 ఇక సాంకేతిక విషయాలకొస్తే.. ఇళయరాజా, యువన్‌ శంకర్‌ రాజా నేపథ్య సంగీతం బాగుంది. పాటలు అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోకపోవడమే కాకుండా.. సాఫీగా సాగుతున్న కథకి అడ్డంకిగా మారాయి. ఎస్.ఆర్. కథిర్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. ఎడిటర్‌ తన కత్తెరకు ఇంకాస్త పని చెప్పాల్సింది. ముఖ్యంగా సెకండాఫ్‌లో కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలను మరింత క్రిస్పీగా కట్‌ చేయాల్సింది. నిర్మాణ విలువలు సినిమా​ స్థాయికి తగ్గట్టుగా ఉన్నాయి.

Custody movie review: Naga Chaitanya's action thriller has too many subplots, needed a lot more to make an impact

Custody movie review: naga chaitanya's latest film is one of those action dramas that never realise their potential and get lost midway..

Venkat Prabhu’s Custody, which marks his maiden collaboration with Naga Chaitanya , is built on a very interesting premise. Unlike most mainstream films, where the hero locks horns with the villain and eventually kills him, here it is Chaitanya’s character’s life mission to protect the antagonist, played by Arvind Swami. For a story that predominantly unfolds over a span of 48 hours and involves some solid chase sequences, the film wastes quite a lot of time initially in needless subplots. The film opens with a gas leak accident, which results in the death of 40 people. The story quickly introduces us to Shiva (Naga Chaitanya), a constable with his moral compass in the right place. In his introduction scene, he stops the chief minister's (Priyamani) convoy to make way for an ambulance and his deed becomes the news headlines.

Shiva lives with his parents and younger sister. He’s in love with Revathi, a driving school instructor and they decide to elope and get married. On the night Shiva is supposed to pick up Revathy and marry, he gets involved in a road rage case and arrests the two people involved in the incident. Soon, Shiva learns that one among them is Raju, a local hitman who does all the dirty work for the CM and her party. The other man in the road rage incident is a CBI officer, who has to produce Raju in a court in Bengaluru the next day. As news spreads that Raju is locked up, the CM sends out a team to kill him. Shiva quickly realises the gravity of the situation and takes the responsibility of handing over Raju in the court.

Custody is one of those action films that never realise their potential and get lost midway. It wastes a lot of time initially in the scenes (which includes two boring songs) between Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty. If only all this excessive flab was removed and the story only focused on Shiva, Raju and all those men who are after them, this would’ve been a cracker of an action-thriller. After the 40th minute, when Shiva and Raju are on the run, the film really picks up momentum and it really works on the action front. The pre-interval action stretch (including an underwater sequence) has to be one of the major highlights of the film. But every time the momentum picks up, the story takes a detour to focus on Shiva and Revathy. It is this needless distraction that makes Custody unbearable at times.

Naga Chaitanya plays his part quite well and this is definitely an attempt worth some praise. It is Arvind Swami as Raju that really stands out among the actors. In the film’s most tense moments, he brings in spurts of humour that works so well. Scenes between Chaitanya and Arvind work quite well and they form an unlikely bond which could’ve been explored more than wasting time on the romance portion. Sarath Kumar is a major miscast and he struggles to add any value to the ensemble cast.

Custody Movie Review

Dramas that unfold within a restricted time span with a high element of danger would make for a good substance to build a thriller. Film maker Venkat Prabhu who tasted success with this formula in Maanaadu has yet again deployed it in his recent project Custody. The drama is about a constable who is entwined in a situation in which he has to safeguard a ruthless criminal from a herd of henchmen who are after his life. Actor Naga Chaitanya makes his debut in Tamil cinema with his period action thriller drama Custody. Actress Krithi Shetty has played the female lead role in the entertainer. So, how has the thriller film Custody come out? Will it help establish a bankable lead hero image for actor Naga Chaitanya in Tamil cinema, and stretch the winning run of director Venkat Prabhu ? To know that let us get into the movie review.

The drama opens in 1996 to a bomb blast and cuts to 1998 where it follows the life of Siva (Naga Chaitanya), an upright young man who is employed as a constable in the police department. His sense of duty extends to the extent that he would not even flinch to halt the convoy of the chief minister of the state Dhakshayani (Priyamani), to let an ambulance pass. He is in a relationship with his childhood sweetheart Revathi (Krithi Shetty), who works as a driving institute instructor. Her parents are looking for a suitable bridegroom for her. Worried about being married off to someone else, she asks Siva to meet with her parents and ask for her hand in marriage. Siva obliges. Along with his father and mother he visits Revathi’s parents with a marriage proposal only to be rejected and insulted. A dejected Revathi rings him up later and tells him she cannot live without him and suggests that they elope and get married. 

Siva along with a colleague headed out of the station. Unexpectedly, a speeding car bumps into their vehicle. Passengers of the car are a CBI officer George (Sampath Raj), who is escorting Raasu (Aravind Swamy), a criminal, to the court to get him to testify in a high-profile case against chief minister Dhakshayani. In a mishap Siva remands them. George tries to explain the scenario to Siva, but Raasu attempts to mislead him. By the time Siva learns the truth, the situation escalates and becomes chaotic making things more challenging to present Raasu in court. Siva takes it upon himself to aid George to produce Raasu before justice. Will Siva manage to outdo a horde of hooligans and present Raasu alive in front of a judge, is what makes the rest of the case. 

Custody is the dearth of Venkat Prabhu’s bravura. It takes an ample amount of time to lure us into its world. For some odd reasons director Venkat Prabhu adopts a slow burn approach to establish the characters of his film. There are attempts from the director to document a few subtle social commentaries during this phase. The problem is, neither the writing nor the characters have layers in them to make for a gripping narrative which instantly incites a sense of banality in us. The poorly placed songs make things even worse. After the initial 30 odd minutes the film creates the impression as if it is about to take off. But it keeps playing out with predictability and dishes out exasperating events as cute and fun. For instance, Siva and Revathi are in an exigency of sorts, but on the pretext of being cute Revathi insists on going to a hotel just so she can have her favorite food. 

Fortunately, the film received the much-required zeal with the entry of Aravind Swamy’s Raasu followed by Sarathkumar’s Natraj. It is characters like these that boost the film which otherwise would have completely lost its stream one hour into the film. Few exchanges between the cop and the criminal in his custody are interesting and leaves us wanting for more. The transition of their relationship from hostility to brotherhood is constructed well. But the film lacks a coherence to turn them into much more than just a momentary brilliance. To keep the audience invested, director Venkat Prabhu uses too many twists that deters the flow of the film. The much-hyped action piece lives up to the expectations. Credit to stunt choreographer Mahesh and the cinematographer for capturing the action that takes place in a narrow space.  

Actor Naga Chaitanya just about managed to pull off his role. His stout physique makes him fit perfectly in the role of a cop. However, it is a bit tiring to watch the exaggerated mien of the actor throughout. Actor Aravind Swamy brings about his excellence to elevate his underwritten part. He puts on a great show. Actress Krithi Shetty’s character does not have a strong hold in the flow, and just jumps in and out of the proceedings. Nonetheless, the actress lives up to her role. Actress Priyamani makes her presence felt even in a short screen time. Literally except one or two gags, rest of actor Premgi Amaren’s jokes turn out to be a dud. Actor R Sarathkumar demands our attention with his towering screen presence. Actor Ramki makes an impact. Actress Jayasudha does justice to her role. Actor Sampath Raj delivers in his typical stereotypical role. Actor Y G Mahendran is as effective as usual. Actor Jayaprakash is functional. Actors Surya, Ravi Prakash, Annapoorna, Rajitha, Premi Viswanath, and Kadambari Kiran have all chipped in and have depicted their part well. Actors Jiiva, Anandi , Vaibhav, and Venkat Prabhu buck up the mood in cameo. The rest of the cast has delivered what was asked of them. 

On the technical front, music directors Yuvan Shankar Raja and Ilaiyaraaja are clearly not at their best. But Yuvan Shankar Raja somewhat covers the ground with his background score that helps in shaping the thriller tone of the movie. Cinematographer S R Kathir has set up his camera at right spots . His visuals are colorful. Editor Venkat Raajen brings forth his editing prowess and enhances the work of his colleague with sharp scissor work. 

On the whole, director Venkat Prabhu’s Custody is a trite thriller film that fluffs the narrative with too many red herrings to hold fast to the attention of the audience but fails at it utterly.

Naga Chaitanya, who has been trying to establish himself as an action hero since his debut, is back with an action movie “Custody”. Let’s see if he has finally scored a hit or not.

Custody” follows the story of Shiva, a young and honest constable played by Naga Chaitanya, who gets caught up in a conflict between the CBI and the Mafia. Along with the CBI officer played by Sampath, a hitman named Raju played by Arvind Swamy, and a corrupt police officer played by R. Sharat Kumar, Shiva is compelled to follow them. The remainder of the plot focuses on the reasons why both groups are pursuing Mr. Raju and how the chase plays out.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, “Custody” failed to meet the high expectations set by the director’s past successful films. The story, set in 1996 and revolving around a bomb blast that killed 40 people, fails to impress. The introduction of the protagonist and his love interest falls flat, and the attempted comedy fails to land. It’s not until the characters of Raju, the CBI officer, and Sarath Kumar enter the scene that the film starts to pick up some pace. However, the low-budget chasing sequences fail to leave any impact.

The film’s second half begins with the backstory of Shiva’s family, but it fails to add any significant value to the plot. The film seems to drag on with the rogue cops chasing Raju. The film’s technical aspects are also lacking, with poor background score and bad songs. The film’s biggest drawback is its patchy production values. Although the casting is impressive with many reputed artists, the weak script mars their performances. The film lacks entertainment value and even fails to deliver adequate action. At some point, the film feels like a Tamil film with a few Telugu actors. Venkat Prabhu failed to deliver a cohesive product, missing his signature flavor in this bilingual attempt.

The performances of Naga Chaitanya are commendable, but the characterization and getup of Aravind Swamy are irritating. Krithi Shetty is adequate in her role, while Priyamani, Sampath, and R. Sarathkumar play the other main characters with average performances.

“Custody” is a disappointing watch that requires a lot of patience to sit through. Despite the impressive cast, the movie fails to deliver even average content. The repetitive chase sequences involving the same trio of characters become tedious, and the flashback family story is nothing new. The movie feels more like a Tamil film, with only a few Telugu actors present. In terms of technical aspects, all crafts, including background score, songs, and production values, fail to impress. Overall, “Custody” fails to live up to its expectations and is not recommended.

Custody Movie Review: ఫస్టాఫ్ థ్రిల్.. సెకండాఫ్ డల్.. ‘కస్టడీ’ మూవీ ఎలా ఉందంటే..?

ఈ మధ్య అక్కినేని హీరోలకు వరస ఫ్లాపులు వస్తున్నాయి. దాంతో ఈ సారి వచ్చే సినిమా కచ్చితంగా హిట్ కొట్టేలా ఉండాలి కానీ మామూలుగా కాదు అని గట్టి నమ్మకంతో కస్టడీ సినిమాతో వచ్చేసారు నాగ చైతన్య అక్కినేని..

ఈ మధ్య అక్కినేని హీరోలకు వరస ఫ్లాపులు వస్తున్నాయి. దాంతో ఈ సారి వచ్చే సినిమా కచ్చితంగా హిట్ కొట్టేలా ఉండాలి కానీ మామూలుగా కాదు అని గట్టి నమ్మకంతో కస్టడీ సినిమాతో వచ్చేసారు నాగ చైతన్య అక్కినేని. వెంకట్ ప్రభు దీనికి దర్శకుడు కావడంతో అంచనాలు మరింత పెరిగాయి. మరి ఈ చిత్రం నిజంగానే ప్రేక్షకుల మెప్పు పొందుతుందా..? అసలు సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది..? పూర్తి రివ్యూలో చూద్దాం..

శివ (నాగ చైతన్య) ఒక సిన్సియర్ కానిస్టేబుల్. డ్యూటీ కోసం ప్రాణాలు కూడా లెక్కచేయని తనం ఆయనది. ఏం చేయడానికైనా సిద్ధంగా ఉంటాడు. అతడికి డ్యూటీ ఎంత ప్రాణమో.. రేవతి (కృతి శెట్టి) కూడా అంతే ప్రాణం. కానీ కులాలు వేరు కావడంతో రేవతి ఇంట్లో శివతో పెళ్లికి ఒప్పుకోరు పెద్దలు. ఈ ప్రేమకథ ఇలా సాగుతుండగానే.. కొన్ని అనుకోని పరిణామాలు చోటు చేసుకుంటాయి శివ జీవితంలో. అతడి లైఫ్‌లోకి రాజు (అరవింద్ స్వామి) ఎంటర్ అవుతాడు. మరోవైపు రాజును చంపాడనికి పోలీస్ కమీషనర్ నటరాజన్ (శరత్ కుమార్) సహా పోలీస్ ఫోర్స్, రౌడీలు రంగంలోకి దిగుతారు. అసలు ఈ రాజు ఎవరు.. అతన్ని చంపడానికి అంతమంది ఎందుకు వెంట పడుతున్నారు..? మధ్యలో ముఖ్యమంత్రి (ప్రియమణి) ఎందుకు ఇన్వాల్వ్ అవుతారు..? అసలు రాజును సిబిఐకి అప్పగించాలని శివ ఎందుకు అంత బలంగా ప్రయత్నిస్తుంటాడు..? ఈ ప్రయాణంలో శివకి ఎదురైన సవాళ్లు ఏమిటి? మధ్యలో రేవతి ఎక్కడికి వెళ్లింది అనేది మిగిలిన కథ..

కథ విషయానికి వస్తే కస్టడీ పాయింట్ కాస్త కొత్తగా అనిపిస్తుంది. రొటీన్ రెగ్యులర్ మాస్ సినిమాలా కాకుండా.. స్క్రీన్ ప్లే బేస్డ్ డ్రామాగా దీన్ని తెరకెక్కించాడు దర్శకుడు వెంకట్ ప్రభు. ముఖ్యంగా ఈయన సినిమాల్లో ఎక్కువగా కనిపించే ఆ స్క్రీన్ ప్లే మ్యాజిక్ ఇందులోనూ కనిపిస్తుంది. కాకపోతే ఎక్కువ కాదు.. అక్కడక్కడా ఛమక్కులు మాత్రమే. హీరో తన స్టేషన్‌కి వచ్చిన విలన్‌ను కొందరి నుంచి కాపాడాల్సి వస్తుంది. సాధారణంగా సినిమాల్లో విలన్లను చంపేస్తుంటారు కానీ ఇందులో కాపాడటమే కథ. దానికోసం హీరో ఎన్ని సమస్యలు ఫేస్ చేసాడనే లైన్‌ను తీసుకుని కథ అల్లుకున్నాడు వెంకట్ ప్రభు. కస్టడీ కథ అంతా 1995 టైంలో జరుగుతుంది. సినిమాలో యాక్షన్ బాగుంది కానీ లవ్ స్టోరీ, కామెడీ పెద్దగా వర్కవుట్ కాలేదు. చైతూ, కృతి శెట్టి మధ్య సీన్స్ కూడా అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేదనే చెప్పాలి. సినిమా టేక్ ఆఫ్ అవ్వడానికి కనీసం 25 నిమిషాలకు పైగానే తీసుకున్నాడు దర్శకుడు. ఆ తర్వాత కానీ కథ ట్రాక్ ఎక్కదు. ఎప్పుడైతే కథలోకి అరవింద్ స్వామి వస్తాడో.. అప్పట్నుంచి కథ బాగానే ముందుకు వెళ్తుంది.

ఇంటర్వెల్ వరకు చాలా వేగంగా వెళ్తుంది సినిమా. సెకెండాఫ్‌పై అంచనాలు పెంచేస్తుంది ఇంటర్వెల్ సీక్వెన్స్. ఫస్టాఫ్‌లో పాటలు, లవ్ ట్రాక్ మైనస్ కాగా.. ప్రీ ఇంటర్వెల్ సీన్ హైలెట్ అయింది. సినిమా పర్లేదు.. సెకండాఫ్ ఈ మాత్రం ఉన్నా చాలు పక్కా బొమ్మ బ్లాక్‌బస్టర్ అనుకుంటున్న సమయంలో.. ఊహించని రీతిలో డౌన్ అయిపోయింది కథనం. సెకెండాఫ్ ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఎపిసోడ్ నార్మల్‌లా ఉండటం.. విలన్ బ్యాగ్రౌండ్ వీక్ అవ్వడంతో కథ దారి తప్పింది. దానికి తోడు స్లో నరేషన్ చాలా వరకు సినిమాపై అభిప్రాయం మార్చేసింది. ట్విస్టులున్నా.. పెద్దగా ఆకట్టుకోవు. సినిమా కథ అంతా 48 గంటల్లోనే సాగుతుంది. నాలుగేళ్ల కింద వచ్చిన కార్తి ఖైదీ సినిమాకు ఖరీదైన జిరాక్స్ తీస్తే ఎలా ఉంటుందో.. ఇప్పుడు కస్టడీ కూడా అలాగే అనిపిస్తుంది. సిఎంగా ప్రియమణి పాత్ర జయలలితను గుర్తు చేస్తుంది.

శివ పాత్రలో నాగ చైతన్య బాగున్నాడు.. మరోసారి మెప్పించాడు.. తనదైన శైలిలో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. లుక్ పరంగానూ మారిపోయాడు చైతూ. ఇక కృతి శెట్టి ఉన్నంతలో పర్లేదు. సినిమాలో హీరో కంటే ఎక్కువగా అరవింద్ స్వామి హైలెట్ అయ్యాడు. చేసేది క్రైమ్ అయినా కూడా.. తాను నమ్మిందే న్యాయం అనుకునే పాత్ర ఇది. అరవింద్ స్వామి డైలాగులు కూడా బాగున్నాయి.. అక్కడక్కడా మంచి వినోదం పండింది. నటరాజన్‌గా శరత్ కుమార్ పాత్ర కూడా బాగుంది. అటు శరత్ కుమార్.. ఇటు అరవింద్ స్వామి పాత్రలు హైలైట్ కావడంతో.. ఆటోమేటిక్‌గా చైతూ కూడా హైలైట్ అయిపోయాడు. ప్రియమణి జస్ట్ ఓకే.. మిగిలిన వాళ్లంతా ఓకే.

టెక్నికల్ టీం:

యువన్ శంకర్ రాజా, ఇళయ రాజ అందించిన బ్యాగ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ బాగుంది. కొన్ని సీన్స్‌కు పర్ఫెక్టుగా యాప్ట్ అయిన మ్యూజిక్.. మరికొన్ని చోట్ల తేలిపోయింది. పాటలు పెద్దగా ఆకట్టుకోలేదు. ఎస్ఆర్ కతీర్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. ఎడిటింగ్ మాత్రం కాస్త వీక్.. అక్కడక్కడా కొన్ని సీన్స్ బోర్ కొట్టిస్తాయి. ప్రొడక్షన్ వాల్యూస్ పర్లేదు. వెంకట్ ప్రభు దర్శకుడిగా ఫస్టాఫ్ దుమ్ము లేపినా.. సెకండాఫ్ మాత్రం వదిలేసాడు. ఫస్టాఫ్ తీరుగా సెకండాఫ్ ఉండుంటే కస్టడీ రేంజ్ మారిపోయేది.

Custody teaser: Naga Chaitanya’s stages a thrilling return to action, watch video

Naga chaitanya plays the role of a cop in director venkat prabhu’s action-entertainer, custody..

Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya will be seen in an all-out action avatar with director Venkat Prabhu’s bilingual film Custody . The film’s teaser shows the actor in the role of a angry young cop who is honest and dedicated towards his job.

The teaser starts with Chaitanya’s voice-over saying that a wounded heart can push a man far, and even make him start a war. As the action scenes show Chaitanya fighting the bad guy, it ends with him saying, “Truth is conviction… truth is legion… yes, that truth is in my custody.”

The teaser was also released on the official Twitter handle of the production house, with the caption, “Truth is Conviction, Truth is Legion”

Chaitanya is doing an pure action film after a long time. He was recently seen in films such as Love Story, Bangarraju, Venky Mama, Majli and the Bollywood film Laal Singh Chaddha, which stayed away from the genre.

The film will release in Telugu and Tamil and also stars Krithi Shetty as Chaitanya’s love interest in the film. The movie is produced by Srinivasaa Silver Screen and presented by Pavan Kumar. The film has a talented ensemble of actors such as Arwind Swami , Priyamani, Sharat Kumar, Sampath Raj, Premgi Amaren, Vennela Kishore and Premi Vishwanath. The film is set to release in theatres on May 12.

Chaitanya’s last release was his Bollywood debut film Laal Singh Chaddha, where he shared screen with actor Aamir Khan . The film was the official Hindi remake of Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. In the film, Chaitanya played the role of Balaraju Bodi, a friend of Laal Singh Chaddha. In the original Hollywood film, Chaitanya’s role was played by actor Gary Sinise, whose onscreen name was Lieutenant Dan Taylor.

In 2022, YSRCP MP and businessman Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy's two Hyderabad companies donated Rs 46 crore in electoral bonds to West Bengal's ruling TMC. This coincided with a water treatment project in Kolkata, which was facing issues and was eventually transferred to Reddy's company, Ramky Infrastructure.
