Mahindra racing bev launch.

PSP event for Mahindra Racing BEV Launch

In August 2022 PSP had the opportunity to support Hyperlink with the Mahindra Racing BEV Launch at their UK Headquarters in Banbury.

The complex launch involved the PSP team working closely with Hyperlink based in Mumbai to achieve a seamless car launch at the Banbury EF1 site. The event was also used to launch the opening of the MADE (Mahindra Advanced Design Europe) building, the new design centre for Mahindra.

The main event space comprised of an elevating and tilting 10m x 3.5m LED screen controlled by a Kinesys automation system with a custom-built frame to achieve the movement in the compact temporary event space. The screen raised to reveal the fantastic new vehicles, with a comprehensive lighting package to enhance the experience and tie into the colour theme displayed on the ROE LED strip lined behind the cars.

On the entrance to the launch room a tunnel of 36 pixel mapped Astera Titan tubes paved the way for guests to enter, building the excitement for the event from the start of the attendee’s journey.

A ground support structure and tiered seating were installed into the Banbury workshop transform the site into an event space and allow VIPs and guests to sit and watch the launch live.

PSP also took care of the filming and live streaming out to Mahindra’s social media channels, with YouTube receiving over 2 million views! Influencers and media from the automotive world present at the launch were also assisted with media teams supplied by PSP to help capture content and further the online coverage from the launch.

PSP also provided PA, atmospheric lighting and custom branded information boards finished with inset LED tape for breakout spaces, marquee, and car display areas.

Birmingham ⋅ July-August 2022

New zealand house at commonwealth games 2022.

PSP - New Zealand House for Commonwealth Games 2022

PSP were pleased to collaborate with the New Zealand team to assist with all the technical AV aspects for their house during the Commonwealth Games 2022, which was hosted by the city of Birmingham. New Zealand House was where all team members, staff and families were able to relax and watch the games in comfort, when they were not competing or supporting live from the many locations across the city.

This job required a lot of logistical and technical planning. From cable routes and power to multiple streams, there were many site visits and lots of late-night calls to speak with the team in New Zealand.

The set up began with a complex design of the switching system using a black magic matrix, multi view 4 and multi view 16, all programmed in companion and controlled from just two iPads.  In the house there were 16 sources comprising of 8 x Apple TV’s, 2 x graphics, 2 x VT playbacks, 1 x Zoom, 2 x camera feeds and 1 x Sky feed.

Any screen in any area of any room including the LED could show any source including a quad view of sources. Each signal carried the individual audio to each screen, meaning that any member in New Zealand House was able to choose what they watched, whether this be a certain event from the Commonwealth Games or news from back home in New Zealand.

This all ran from a central control room, with a PA set up in all rooms for any announcements that needed to be made or for music to be played. The iPads used for controlling the sources were also programmed to run Power Point content from the graphics machines to any or all the screens for any key messages or reminders.

All of this is powered by over 6km of cable that ran round the whole venue, over the roof, through windows, through purpose built branded truss frames all hidden away to make for an aesthetically pleasing and incredibly tidy set up.

Citizen Excellence Awards 2022

PSP hosting virtual Citizen 2022 Excellence Awards

PSP jumped in to make Citizen’s 2022 Excellence Awards to the next level after the company had made the decision to host the event virtually for another year, from PSP’s own B30 Studios based in Kings Norton.

With over 700 virtual attendees watching the stream, the event was opened by a sparkling string trio, and was hosted by Citizen’s Director of Communications. A all nominees, finalists, and winners were celebrated, and Citizen’s very own staff choir closed the show.

Hosted live from PSP’s B30 Studios, the team assisted with the pre- and post-show production ensuring that Citizen’s event goals were achieved, and the process was seamless from start to finish. Citizen also pre-recorded 4 interviews for their very own mini-series for all staff. This was held in a chat show format and then edited by PSP’s design team.

Renowned for delivering award-winning global studio solutions, PSP channelled their experience and expertise into creating B30 Studios, a cutting-edge, 6,000 ft2 facility with a truly versatile, purpose-built space. Launched in October 2021, B30 Studios is the perfect space for any virtual, hybrid event production or film and content creation.

Birmingham ⋅ January 2021

One wesleyan.

Live conference by PSP

For the third year running, PSP supported Wesleyan on their Annual Conference, held in the 10,195 m 2 Hall 12 at the NEC Birmingham.

This project has taken almost a full year of careful planning and preparation. PSP were responsible for the concept, design, content, 3D visuals, CAD plans, technical and scenic management.

The 2019 event was developed around the theme of “Eclipse” which ran as a consistent message throughout.

Prior to the event, PSP produced all theming, logos, PowerPoint design and creation. For the conference, held in Hall 12 for over 1,000 delegates, the main plenary design was based on the idea of an Agora. It consisted of; 4 x 14m x 4.5m super wide screens supported by 4 x 8m x 4.5m screens. A bespoke central stage with sunken comfort screens was added for a more intimate feel. This could also double as a seated discussion area. We also created 3 breakout areas for 500 people for the afternoon sessions, each with a different objective.

Video was run through 4 x 4K Panasonic 20k lasers projectors, 4 x 12k Panasonic projectors with our Barco E2 looking after content management and switching. In the breakout areas we had 3 x 12k Panasonic projectors.

PSP provided all sound and lighting with a selection of high-end equipment including 12 hangs of KARA Line array, 4 in the main plenary, 2 per breakout room and 2 in the foyer.

4 live camera relays with record and autocue on the comfort monitors embedded in the stage, 550 metres of drape, 215m of truss, 67 motors and 36 crew completed the technical set up for Hall 1.

Newbury & Manchester ⋅ October 2018

Vodafone 5g launch.

Vodafone event by PSP

Following the announcement in June this year that seven cities will become Vodafone 5G trial areas in Autumn 2018, PSP were privileged enough to support brand experience agency, Freeman XP, with the ground-breaking Vodafone 5G launch event.

With the world’s media in attendance, the UK’s first ever live 5G stream featured England and Manchester City Women’s Football Captain, Steph Houghton MBE, calling in from Vodafone’s Manchester office and appearing as a live 3D hologram on stage in front of a 200pax audience, at the telecoms giant’s UK headquarters in Newbury.

The hologram of Steph communicated with 11 year old football fan, Iris, live on stage, giving her footballing tips and advice for her future in the sport.

Designed and produced by Freeman XP, PSP were asked to deliver video and sound technology for the live event. With a 4 day build in preparation for the show, we provided a 14m projection screen, angled in to 3 parts. The central 7m screen was a kabuki reveal, where the Musion hologram of Steph was set up behind.

All video and presentation content was designed in widescreen format and came from a media server controlled by our Barco e2, with three Panasonic 21K laser projectors providing the display. Audio was a high spec d&b system controlled from our Yamaha QL5 desk. PSP also managed the 2-way 5G link between Manchester and Newbury.

This event established a significant milestone in UK communications, and demonstrated the exciting and diverse possibilities that the new 5G technology can bring to not just the world of sport and telecomms, but also industries such as healthcare, automotive and gaming.
