Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) will soon upload the official notification for holding the TNOU Home Assignment Question papers for the academic year 2023. In the official notification, the officials will release the question papers most probably in the first week of April at the official website i.e. www.tnou.ac.in. We suggest the students to check the question paper for TNOU Assignment carefully, download it & write the answers clearly. Students must understand the academic schedule for the Academic year session 2023. It must be noted that, students need to submit TNOU Home Assignment only through post/ courier. Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) is an open and distance learning Indian institution formulated by the government of Tamil Nadu, India. The institute came into existence in the year 2002 and is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) –  was established in the year 2002 by an Act (No.27 of 2002) of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu (TN). The University is the institution of India for open and distance learning. The University was established with the motto of providing education to anyone, anytime, and anywhere. he programmes offered in Tamil Nadu Open  University are recognized by University Grant Commission (UGC), Distance Education Education Council (DEC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

The growth of the University during the past 20 years has been phenomenal. TNOU Credit System

The University follows the ‘Credit system’ for its Programme. Each credit in the system is equivalent to 30 hours of student study comprising all learning activities (i.e., reading and comprehending the print material, attending to face-to-face counselling sessions, teleconference sessions where available and writing assignment responses/open book tests). Thus, for example, a four-credit Course expects120 hours of study from the student. Credit System helps the learners to understand the academic effort they have to put in to successfully complete a Course/Programme. Completion of an academic Programme requires successfully clearing the requirements of both Continuous Assesment and the Term-End Examination of each Course in a Programme.

TNOU Credit Exchange and Transfer

Under the scheme of Credit Exchange/Transfer in force at the University, students who had partly completed an approved Programme of study at the Indira Gandhi National Open University [IGNOU] or other Open Universities in India or at a University in Tamil Nadu recognized by the University Grants Commission, can carry forward the credits they had accumulated in the Programme of study concerned and continue the studies at the Tamil Nadu Open University, subject to the conditions laid down by the University .

TNOU Dual Registration

Students who are already enrolled in a Programme of one year or longer duration can simultaneously register themselves for any one-year Diploma Programme or Certificate Programme of six months duration. University shall not, however, extend any concession, if there is clash of dates for counselling or examination schedules for the two Programmes.

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU)  offers education in 3-year under-graduation in B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BBA, and BCA. College offer studies in 2-year Master’s program in MBA, MCA, M.A., M.Com. and M.Sc., Diploma and Post-graduation Diploma courses in multiple specializations.

• Applicants to B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BCA and BBA courses must have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized board.
• Those who have applied to M.Com., M.A., M.Com. and M.Sc. courses must have passed Bachelor’s courses from a recognized board.
• Candidates applying for MBA courses must hold Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized board.
• The minimum marks required to be eligible for admission to MBA course is having secured at least 50% marks in undergraduate degree.
• Final admission to the courses will be through merit in qualifying exam as well as counseling.
• Admission to under-graduation is based on completion of 10+2 or TNOU BPP conducted by the Tamil Nadu Open University.
• Candidates who are admitted under 10+2 into a Bachelor degree program will have to necessarily complete the Bachelor of Preparatory Program to be eligible for the degree program.
• The BPP Examinations will be conducted before the commencement of the Semester examination.
• Self-learning materials, in print and electronic medium, is provided by the Tami Nadu Open University.
• Counselling is conducted by the University at various locations in the State. Counselling sessions are held during the months of March-May, and September-November, respectively.
• Applicants can simultaneously register themselves for any one year Diploma Program or Certificate Program of six months duration.

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) UG Admissions 2024: BA, B.Com., BBA, BCA and B.Sc.

Admission to three-year full-time under-graduate B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BCA and BBA programs are offered by Tamil Nadu Open University - [TNOU]. Lateral entry to two-year BCA is also offered based on fulfillment of basic eligibility. The minimum eligibility to apply for undergraduate courses is having passed 10+2 in relevant subjects. Candidates applying for lateral entry to BCA program must have any Diploma from Recognized Polytechnic College to be eligible for admission.

Candidates who are not eligible will have to appear in TNOU BPP for six months conducted by the University to be eligible for admission to the UG courses. Application forms can be obtained from the University recognized study centers.

Key points:

• Eligible candidates will have to fill and submit the application form available offline at the prescribed study centers by the University.
• Final selection of the candidates in BBA, B.Com., BCA, B.Sc., and B.A. is based on merit in qualifying exam as well as entrance exam scores.
• Candidates who do not have any formal educational qualification or haven’t successfully completed the 10+2 examination may take admission into a UG Program at the University through the non-formal way, provided they have completed 21 years of age at the time of application.
• Non-formal candidates are required to undergo a 6-month Bachelor Preparatory Program (BPP).
• To be eligible to claim the completion certificate of the UG Course, students are required to secure a minimum of 35% in Term-End Examination and overall 40% in both Terms.

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) PG Admissions 2024: MBA, MCA, MA, M.Com. and M.Sc.

Admission to two-year full-time post-graduate M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., MBA and MCA programs are offered by Tamil Nadu Open University - [TNOU]. M.Sc. is offered in 18 basic specializations and M.A. is offered in 7 basic disciplines.

The minimum eligibility to apply for M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., MBA and MCA programs is having passed bachelor’s from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in aggregate in a relevant discipline. Admission to the program will be merit-based and applications forms are available at the study centers of the Tamil Nadu Open University.

• Candidates seeking admission to M.Sc., M.A., M.Com., MBA and MCA courses should register offline through the application form available at the study centers.
• The student is required to secure a minimum of 45% in Term-End Examination and overall 50% in both the terms to be eligible for the completion certificate of the program.

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) Diploma and PG Diploma Admissions 2024

Admission to the three-year full-time Diploma program and PG Diploma course is offered by Tamil Nadu Open University - [TNOU]. Diploma and PG Diploma is offered in various specializations as listed below.

The minimum eligibility to apply for Tamil Nadu Open University Diploma Courses is having passed 10+2 or Graduation from a recognized university. Applicants to PG Diploma will have Bachelor’s or Master’s will have to appear in University level entrance exam to be eligible for admission in MBA course.

• Applicants having Degrees awarded by the Universities which are not recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) are not eligible for admission to the Program.
• Only those applicants who have passed the qualifying examination either under the 10+2+3 pattern of education or under the 11+1+3 pattern of education or 11+2+2 pattern of education or under the Open University system will be eligible for admission to the Program.
• The copies of the Certificates enclosed should be duly certified by a person authorized to attest the Certificates must be enclosed.

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) Application Process 2024

Students applying for Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, Diploma and PG Diploma programs offered by the Tamil Nadu Open University [TNOU] must visit the specified study centres to get the application forms and prospectus. The final selection of the candidates is based on completion of qualifying exam followed by counselling.

• The Application Forms can be obtained from the study centers on the payment of prescribed payment of Rs. 100/- in cash.
• Application forms can also be obtained From the Deputy Registrar, MPDD, TNOU, 577, Anna Salai, Saidapet, Chennai– 600 015 by post on payment of Rs.150/- by demand draft issued in favour of the Tamil Nadu Open University payable at Chennai.
• Admission forms need to be submitted to the study centres on or before April 30th or October 31st of the academic year.
• On submission of the Application Form, the Study Centre will issue a statement of acknowledgment to the Applicant and forward the Forms to the Zonal Centres.
• The Admission Wing, after the detailed examination of the Application Forms, shall allot the Enrollment Number and send the ID Cards to the Study Centres for handing over to the students.
• Then the students may quote their Enrollment Number in all their further references with the University.
• Applicants who wish to enroll for a Diploma/ Certificate Program under the scheme of Dual Registration shall submit separate Application Forms.
• Separate copies of the eligibility and other certificates, a photograph of the applicant and the signature of the applicant should be attested by any one of the Group A and Group B Officers.
• For all the Program the fees shall be paid to the University. The fees may be remitted in any branch of the State Bank of India or Indian Bank.
• For remitting the fees, the applicant may use the photocopy of the remittance Challan Form enclosed in the Prospectus. The Banker will return the challan of TNOU copy and STUDENT copy.
• The applicant will have to enclose the TNOU copy of the remitted challan with the application for Admission. They may also consult their Study Centers regarding remittance of fees.
• Applicants may submit the filled in Application Forms along with the University copy of the Challan.
• Selected candidates will have to get their documents verified and the counselling will be held on the dates prescribed.
• Documents Checklists:
• Passport size photograph.
• Signature of the candidate
• 10th Standard Mark Sheet or equivalent in support of Date of Birth
• 12th Standard Mark Sheet (wherever applicable).
• UG Degree Certificate (wherever applicable).
• Community Certificate in respect of SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates.

Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) Scholarships

University provides the facilities to reserved category and disabled candidates in the form of exemption from tuition fees. Following are the facilities available to the students:

SC/ ST students who are pursuing distance education are eligible for reimbursement of fees if they are not employed and if the annual income of their parents does not exceed INR 1,00,000

The students should apply for scholarships in the prescribed form to be obtained from the Offices of Adi Dravidar/ Tribal Welfare Department along with the supporting documents.

• Differently-abled students studying a Program at the University are eligible for tuition fee exemption.
• The candidate may apply in the prescribed Application Form, for admission along with the core banking challan for INR 300 enclosing a copy of the disability certificate.
