Presentation Education is centred on the formation of the whole person. Our curriculum is designed so that every student is a valued member of our school and later becomes a confident, well-adjusted and fulfilled member of the wider community.

School History

The Presentation Congregation was founded by Nano Nagle a the end of the eighteenth century and the origins of Presentation Secondary School date back to July 9th, 1809, when the Presentation Sisters came to Tralee to teach the children of the area.

Their first school was in the Blackpool are of the town. Later they moved to the Parish Church and in 1824 a school was built. The school continued to develop and, despite the hardship of the famine years, the Presentation Sisters, with the co-operation of the local people, erected a new school in the 1850’s.

In 1889 Presentation facilitated the town of Tralee by providing a centre for Intermediate Examinations. Throughout the decades the school flourished and in 1978, having outgrown its premises, a decision was made to build an entirely new school on a site near the town park. The official opening of Meánscoil na Toirbhirte, Tralee, took place on March 15th, 1985.

While the school as firmly rooted in the traditional and distinctive qualities of the Presentation Sisters, successive Principals and staff have ensured that the curriculum has kept pace with modern educational thinking. They have also ensured that the school is equipped to prepare girls for higher education and the working world of the twenty-first century.

Fantastic First Year Performance in Tralee!

Today, our First Year football team overcame the challenge of Gaelcholáiste in Na Gaeil pitch Tralee on a beautiful sunshine filled afternoon. Spirited performances all over the field contributed to an excellent team performance scoring a total of 7-9 in the 60 minutes. Well done to all, especially to our visiting students Yuna and Mathilde whom played their first gaelic football game today. Final score: Presentation Castleisland 7-9 Gaelcholáiste 3-7.

Presentation Secondary School Tralee will hold an open night on Tuesday, November 15 from 6pm to 8pm.

The school has a proud tradition of academic success. In 2022, 26% of our Leaving Certificate girls achieved over 500 points.

This continues our well-established trend of far exceeding the national average for students who achieve the highest points in their Leaving Cert.

First years complete a unique transition programme, called Tús Maith. During this week long programme, the girls are introduced to life in secondary school, in a fun and enjoyable way.

Our Taster programme which lasts for 11 weeks enables students try out every subject before making their final subject choice.

We have a school cooperation scheme, running with CBS The Green in a number of subjects including, Construction Studies, Computer Graphics, IT Multimedia and Photography.

About the school

The British International School of Moscow, first established in April 1994 is a non–government educational institution and is licensed by the Moscow Department of Education.

Highly qualified, native English speaking teachers deliver the curriculum, ably assisted by Russian teachers and teaching assistants. The school has an excellent provision for English as an Additional language (EAL). Children of approximately 65 nationalities attend BISM, bringing a unique richness and variety to the educational experience.

The class sizes are small and allow for the curriculum to be differentiated, meeting the individual needs of our students. Those children who need specific support with the English language receive an E.A.L. support programme. All the schools are well resourced with teaching and learning materials including excellent information technology provision, sports halls, libraries and well equipped science laboratories.

This International Baccalaureate World School has six different sites in Moscow, each site has a different Headteacher and there is a close connection between all the schools and staff.
