A background remover and Firefly AI image generator are recent additions. The online Adobe Express also offers helpful design tips, like how to use negative space effectively. Free accounts get 2GB of cloud storage, basic editing, and thousands of design assets and templates. Premium subscribers ($9.99 per month) get 100GB of cloud storage and a full selection of premium templates and assets.

Best for Social Promo Videos: Canva

Canva is well-suited to people who need to create videos for promotional use and social media posting. Though it's mostly about template-driven graphics creation, Canva also has some video editing capabilities. A video project type helps get you started. You get basic abilities to crop, trim, split, speed up, and resize clips, but no multitrack timeline editing—just storyboard thumbnails. As you might expect, the software has good support for social media aspect ratios, especially for vertical mobile formats. Free users get 5GB of online storage and more than a quarter million templates, while Pro subscribers get 1TB of storage, more than 610,000 templates, and social media post scheduling. Canva for Teams adds workflow, branding, and reporting options.

Best for AI Content Generation: FlexClip

FlexClip is for small businesses that want to create marketing videos for social media. You start either from a template or from scratch, and you can upload multiple clips at once or drag them from File Explorer to the source panel in the upper left. The interface lets you use timeline or storyboard modes and vertical or horizontal aspect ratios. As with most video editors, you can drag clips from the source panel onto the timeline (or storyboard) and stretch the timeline to fit the program window. You get all the trimming, transition, text, and overlay options you could want, along with a decent selection of background audio sorted by mood. We're not impressed with the AI text-to-full-video generation, but the image, text-to-speech, and script AI generators are better.

FlexClip comes in three levels: Free, Plus, and Business. The Free account limits you to 720p resolution, a maximum of 12 projects, and a video length of 10 minutes, and all your videos have a FlexClip watermark. The Plus level ($9.99 per month with an annual commitment, $19.99 without) removes the watermark and gets you up to 1,080p, unlimited projects, and unlimited video length. The Business plan ($19.99 per month billed annually, $29.99 monthly) also doesn't go above 1,080p, but it does get you 100GB cloud storage and 1TB video hosting. The plans also vary in the amount of stock footage (one for Free, five for Plus, and unlimited for Business) and AI prompts (from 5 times per month for free to 6,000 for Business) you're allowed. Though the company is based in China, its privacy page states that it complies with GDPR.

Best Cheap Full-Powered Online Video Editor: Kapwing

Kapwing is surprisingly slick and powerful. Along with Veed, it's among the best options for those who want full-power video editing without the hassle of downloading and installing a local application. It lets you combine video clips, trim, split, and add transitions, overlay text and images, generate subtitles, and upload music. You can drag clips around and up and down in the timeline. Kapwing lets you crop and move the image, even using keyframes for things like pan and zoom.

You get access to stock video, photos, and background music, but there's no fancy stuff like chroma keying, motion tracking, or video effects. Free users' output shows a watermark and is limited to 7 minutes and 720p resolution. A $6-per-month Basic subscription removes the watermark on videos under 30 seconds, and the $16-per-month (with a one-year commitment) Pro account lets you make high-res projects up to 2 hours long and gives you branding tools, too.

Best for Small Businesses: Clipchamp

Microsoft Clipchamp

Microsoft Clipchamp is now the default video maker that comes with Windows, and it's available free via the web on any platform. It's best for those who need to create template-based social videos, though it also has fairly powerful timeline editing. You can start with a template or from scratch, either uploading clips or connecting your OneDrive account. The app lets you record your screen with or without your webcam image and can perform speech-to-text translation.

Stock video and photos are available for b-roll, and there's a good selection of title styles, background music, and sound effects. Many options, however, are paywalled for subscribers. Free users get unlimited watermark-free (unless they use premium content) exports up to 1080p, while Essentials subscribers ($11.99 per month) get premium filters and effects, a brand kit for managing logos and colors, and content backup.

Best for Marketing and Stock Footage: Promo.com

As its name suggests, Promo.com targets marketers and small businesses. You first enter your business name and sector, then pick a template from thumbnails to start, with more than 5,000 options. You can search or browse template categories, and you get a choice of landscape, square, or vertical aspect ratios. It's a very simple interface, with just three buttons along the left for Editor, Media, and Music.

Promo.com features a single-track timeline and just one choice of transition—fade. You get around 50 good-looking fonts, and you can apply a basic color filter but no special effects. The service lets you schedule social posts or download your creations. There's no free account level. A Basic account costs $29 per month (with a one-year commitment) and includes 2GB of storage. At the high end is the $199-per-month plan that includes "unlimited everything." All accounts have a 5-minute maximum video length, a choice of 1,500 fully licensed music tracks, and editorial stock content (meaning celebrities and newsworthy footage).

Best Free Online Video Editor: Oslo

The online Streamlabs Video Editor (formerly called Oslo) is a good choice for those who want a free service, as the free account level is quite generous compared with others. It provides multitrack timeline editing with the standard join, trim, and split tools. You get a few filters à la Instagram and a good set of transitions and text fonts, but no shape or sticker overlays. A nice touch is its comment feature, which can help teams work together on a video project. You can record your screen with or without included the webcam view. You can crop, zoom, change speed, and apply a few animations and basic image corrections.

Free users can export 1,080p videos up to 30 minutes long without watermarks. You also get 15GB of online storage, a maximum file upload size of 5GB, and collaboration features. The paid plan is $10 per month, which increases storage to 250GB, upload size to 20GB, and maximum export length to one hour.

Best Replacement for Installed Software: Veed

Veed is an impressive multitrack timeline video editor that features a clear and simple design. It's best for those who want a full replacement to installed video editing software. You start with sizes suited for all output types, social and otherwise. Use either one of the predesigned templates or go ahead on your own. Then you can upload or record your media or use some of Veed's stock video, music, or sound effect content. In terms of look and feel, Photopea sits roughly hallway between Photoshop and GIMP , and the range, depth and power of the tools and features it offers is simply staggering. To appeal to advanced users, there is support for Photoshop's native file format as full support for layers, allowing for greater levels of creativity. Image can be uploaded from your computer, or you can work with online images by providing the relevant URL. When it comes to saving files, you have no fewer than 15 popular file formats to export to.

With a selection of powerful filters, a range of selection and masking tools, multi-levels undo, and even the Photoshop-aping Spot Healing Brush, you'd be hard pressed to find something Photopea fails at. It could be argued that for some people – certainly some tasks – Photopea is a bit too much. This really is an advanced image editor, and it's hard to hold that against it.

Pricing is entirely reasonable too. There is a free version which has only two limitations – there are ads and undo is restricted to 30 steps. Pay for a Premium account, however ($40 for a year, or about £30 / AU$50), and ads vanish, and you can undo up to 60 actions.

Look past Lunapic 's slightly unimpressive interface, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by this online photo editor. You can upload an image you would like to work with, provide the URL of one that's already online, or pull in content from Facebook or various other social platforms.

The slightly unusual interface mixes a semi-traditional set of image editing tools in a toolbar to the left of the screen, a series of menu options across the top, and links and buttons to tools you might want to access quickly. You can work with gradients, apply a good range of quality filters, add stylized effects, and even create simple animations.

To help get you started, there are a range of tutorial available via the Help menu. These serve as a great introduction to some of the theories of image editing for newcomers to the field, but also give specific advice about how to achieve various results in Lunapic.

Pixlr X looks like a modern desktop photo editor, and has a range of tools that put many installable apps to shame. As you would expect, you can upload images to work with, or provide the URL of an online image to edit instead.

This done, a vertical toolbar to the left of the page gives access to familiar editing tools broken down into a number of sections – Arrange & Style, Text, Layout, Adjust & Filter, and so on. Within each of these sections is a new sub-toolbar filled with the associated tools and options. Some, such as simple effects, can be applied by just clicking a preview thumbnail, while others allow for greater customization through the manipulation of sliders and settings.

Using Pixlr X, it's possible to get very quick results if that's what you're looking for, and there is the ever-useful healing brush on hand to tidy up images and clear up blemishes in an instant. However, it's also possible to get quite hands-on and spend time editing things to perfection, taking full advantage of layers to create stunning results.

Newcomers may find the toolbars and buttons are a little difficult to interpret to start with, but once you have mastered this, the learning curve is pretty gentle.

4. Adobe Spark

Spark is an online photo editor from Adobe , but it's nothing like Photoshop. It's capable of producing some impressive results when it comes to getting creative with your photos in projects such as producing business cards, posters and the like, but if you're looking for an actual Photoshop replacement, this is not it.

That said, it is certainly not to be dismissed – Adobe Spark has many potential applications, and lots of templates for you to work with to help you to get started. There are some image editing options available, but they are somewhat more limited than in other sites we've looked at that are perhaps better suited to anyone looking for a more traditional image editor. What Adobe Spark manages to do is to blend the worlds of image editing and desktop publishing, and create a hybrid mashup that is great for creating a range of content for both on- and offline use.

A free account gives you a great opportunity to try out the service, but in reality you will probably want to upgrade to a paid-for account if you decide this is the tool for you; you can pay on a monthly basis (about $15 / £10 / AU$20 per month) or annually (about $150 / £100 / AU$ 200 per year).

The advantage of switching from the free version is that not only do you get to drop the Adobe Spark watermark from your projects, but also that you gain access to additional templates, as well as the fact that you can customize template to an even greater extent.

Canva is one of the most popular online photo editors around, and it doesn't take long to see why. Like Adobe Spark, this is a tool that lets you transform your digital images for a range of specific purposes – everything from posting to Instagram or creating a presentation, to design a business card or poster.

In this regard, it's not a dedicated photo editor like some of the other options we have looked at here, but it's geared up to enable you to achieve a great deal with your images. There are scores of templates covering a range of different project, and the selection in this area just about makes up for the lack of advanced editing tools. Those that are present are reasonable, but they're slightly hidden from view, which is a little frustrating.

The different approach taken by Spark and Canva makes it difficult to compare directly with traditional photo editing tools, or even the other options featured in this roundup. If you are look to simply edit, enhance, improve or tweak your images, you're probably better off looking elsewhere, but if you have a vision in mind for a project to use your images in, Canva may well be the online photo editor you've been looking for.

Host Reba McEntire kept the audience chuckling throughout the night, but the funniest moment came from Ashley McBryde and "Schitt's Creek" star Noah Reid, who sang original songs poking fun at, among other things, Morgan Wallen's April arrest for allegedly throwing a chair off the rooftop of a Nashville bar , with McBryde advising, "You should smile in the mug shot."

The show also included a poignant tribute to the late Toby Keith, with good friend Jason Aldean performing Keith's first No. 1 hit, "Should've Been a Cowboy," with Keith's family in the audience.

As for the night's performances, Stapleton offered up the biggest surprise: Dua Lipa, who joined him for "Think I'm in Love With You."

Post Malone shared a preview of his country album, performing a previously unreleased tune, "Never Love You Again," as well as "I Had Some Help," sans singing partner Wallen. He and McEntire also sang a bit of "Ramblin' Man" in tribute to the late Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band.

As for the evening's other performances, Wilson kicked things off with "God Bless Texas" followed by "Hang Tight Honey," Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan performed a mashup of "Mountain With a View" and "Stick Season," Miranda Lambert debuted "Wranglers," and Kane Brown covered the classic "Georgia on My Mind," which the late Ray Charles performed on the ACM Awards stage 40 years ago.

McEntire then closed out the show with a performance of her new tune "I Can't" backed by a 20-person choir and told the audience she would be back next year to host the 60th ACM Awards.

The MICHELIN Guide Mexico has finally been unveiled! Today saw the arrival of 2 Two Stars, 16 One Stars, 6 Green Stars, and a whopping 42 Bib Gourmands. 

From Mexican hotspots filled with traditional dishes (think grilled Baja coast rockfish and mole amarillito) and delicious tacos to sophisticated modern menus (with items like spider crab paired with silky jackfruit to green passionfruit filled with foie gras parfait), the first Mexico selection proved that El Águila Real is filled with flavor and flair.  

So whether it's seasonal ingredients or family run organic farms, here is everything you need to know about the top distinctions in Mexico.

Quintonil Cuisine: Mexican

This captivating dining room from Chef Jorge Vallejo and his wife Alejandra Flores is named for an herb native to Oaxaca. It bears a discreet facade which belies the stunning experience within. The look is chic; more cool than luxurious and far from stuffy.

The elegant cuisine is an enticing melding of excellent local product, impressive execution, and great creativity to produce refined compositions. The tasting menu is constantly evolving but may reveal delights such as crab and shards of blue corn tostada arranged with a vivid pipian verde enhanced with untraditional elements like galangal, lemongrass, and makrut lime. The chef's command of balance is evident in a stunning finale of crème fraîche sorbet, caviar, and Melipona honey.

Pujol Cuisine: Mexican

Chef-owner Enrique Olvera’s seminal dining room has long stood as one of the country’s most famous addresses. This breezy, contemporary space is a constant hive of activity, thanks to servers dressed in sharp, black suits and a crowd eager to dine here. Some come for the taco omakase, but the culinary heart of this restaurant lies in the seasonal tasting menu. Tradition and invention go hand-in-hand in the likes of scallop ceviche with egg salad or grilled Baja coast rockfish with butternut squash puree and sherry foam. The savory progression culminates with mole madre, an effort like no other that celebrates Mexican history and cuisine in the most profound way. The wine list features an impressive number of regional vintners, some of whom bottle exclusively for the restaurant.

Em Cuisine: Mexican

A pre-dinner cocktail at the moody 686 Bar upstairs is a smart way to start an evening in the capable hands of Chef Lucho Martinez. Named for his daughter Emilia, the intimate restaurant on the ground floor suits couples well, while the handsome kitchen takes a contemporary look at Mexican ingredients, many of which are seafood. Think a savory, crispy, carrot buñuelo covered in roe or an expertly grilled wedge of corvina with spinach set in a fragrant garlic foam. The signature dessert celebrates all things mamey, arriving as a thin, delicate tart, a light tiramisu, and a refreshing ice cream. Both the a la carte and the tasting menus overlap well enough, so no need to fret. Refined, bold flavors come through clearly in both.

Esquina Común Cuisine: Mexican

The address may no longer be a secret, but reservations at this hotspot are closely guarded (and only available by direct messaging on Instagram), but any perceived hassle disappears once you've arrived at this covered rooftop setting with bountiful greenery and a lovely, relaxed vibe.

This is a special operation run by a young and talented team. Their concise menu is impressively prepared and enticingly plated. Dishes of note include the pescado del dia, which may be grilled cod set in a luscious green mole and dressed with crushed ripe plantain, fava beans and pumpkin seeds. Staying on theme, the masa and plantain tamal de pescado is filled with chile red-tinted fish with a flavorful salsa macha.

Rosetta Cuisine: Creative

Chef Elena Reygadas's Rosetta is a perennial favorite, packed with a crowd that comes here for creative cooking that leans Mexican but is inflected with global influences. Dishes are designed for sharing, ideal for those who want to sample more of her ingenious creations like the cabbage tacos with two small rounds of Savoy cabbage, served warm with pistachio puree and romeritos. Blending interesting flavors and textures, this dish is a great play on expectations and its different shades of green are visually arresting. A sweet potato tamal over toasted pumpkin seeds with a buttermilk sauce and salsa macha is equal parts sweet and savory. Honey jelly, cut into perfect cubes and served with a quenelle of brown butter ice cream and vanilla sauce, is an exquisite ending. 

Sud 777 Cuisine: Creative

Sud 777 enjoys an enviable location in Mexico City's ritzy Pedregal neighborhood. The space is modern and sprawling, with lofted ceilings, dark wood, and earthy colors.

Chef Edgar Núñez presides over a multicourse tasting menu as well as a large a la carte comprising starters like kampachi tostada with fermented tomatoes and Oaxacan tamal soup with beans and black mole to main dishes like red snapper al pastor and local turkey with ""mole amarillito."" Vegetables figure prominently on the tasting menu, and diners may be treated to the likes of beet tartare, avocado with foie gras, and a simple but spectacular spinach, sauteed in sherry and set in a pool of lush almond and garlic puree.

Taquería El Califa de León Cuisine: Mexican

There is a reason why El Califa de León has endured for more than half a century. This taqueria may be bare bones with just enough room for a handful of diners to stand at the counter but its creation, the Gaonera taco, is exceptional. Thinly sliced beef filet is expertly cooked to order, seasoned with only salt and a squeeze of lime. At the same time, a second cook prepares the excellent corn tortillas alongside. The resulting combination is elemental and pure. Other options are few but excellent, and include bistec (beef steak), chuleta (pork chop), and costilla (beef rib). With meat and tortillas of this caliber, the duo of house-made salsas is hardly even necessary.

Baja California

Animalón Cuisine: Mexican

Many restaurants claim to be transporting, but how many deliver on the promise? Animalón certainly does. In season, this spot shines with an al fresco dining space under a centuries-old oak tree (during colder months, they move to a pop-up space). It's the very definition of tranquility, yet with owner Javier Plascencia at the helm, it's equally thrilling.

The contemporary Mexican cuisine pulls influences from all over the country. The kitchen's vision is apparent in dishes like beer-braised barbacoa wrapped in a banana leaf, steamed and smoked in a pig's bladder, then served tableside for a dramatic presentation. Ceviche is ubiquitous, but here a custom molcajete with a blue corn tostada dusted with frozen avocado is lifted to reveal diced kampachi for a dish that truly impresses. 

Conchas de Piedra Cuisine: Seafood

This rustic-chic collaboration from the people behind Deckman’s and Casa de Piedra, one of the many wineries in the valley, brings together what both places do best—seafood and sparkling wine. The outdoor dining area is warm and inviting thanks to communal tables, café lights strung overhead and a jaunty instrumental playlist. It's a compact, seafood-focused menu offering aguachiles, ceviches, and warm dishes like seared abalone. Every dish is stunning, with balanced flavors and bright colors. Clam ceviche, served in two petite clam shells balanced on small pebbles, is just one example. For a heartier dish, consider the crispy oyster taco. A single scoop of cucumber sorbet served in an abalone shell is clever and fresh.

Damiana Cuisine: Mexican

Damiana boasts a stunning setting, nestled on the Viñedos de la Reina property. Two rows of trees provide shade for the tables lined up on the patio for those who want to dine outdoors.

Chef Esteban Lluis celebrates the local valley's products in his multicourse tasting menu that is contemporary Mexican at its core. The kitchen plays with presentation and expectations in fun and creative ways. The dishes are bold and brilliantly executed, as in the perfectly cooked, crispy duck served over pickled cabbage and sided by carrot purée and duck confit wrapped in Swiss chard. Desserts make a lasting impression, especially the pumpkin crème brûlée on a mandarin dacquoise cake or the guava flan with crispy phyllo sheets. 

Baja California Sur

Cocina de Autor Los Cabos Cuisine: Mexican

Located in the bougainvillea-strewn Grand Velas hotel, this plush oceanfront restaurant is sophisticated, amplified by the resort-formal dress code. The terrace is a nice spot for bites and cocktails, and a few choice tables overlook a koi pond.

The multicourse tasting menu is Mexican at its heart, with global elements and inspirations woven throughout. This is a kitchen unafraid of taking risks, especially when it comes to flavor combinations. A farm-raised sea scallop served under a miso butter with tom yum and a tempura-fried shiso leaf is delicious. Then, in a triumph of flavors, beef tenderloin is plated with celery root purée, poached beets, and maitake mushrooms. Shaved Comté with a quenelle of honey ice cream is a playful take on the cheese course.

KOLI Cocina de Origen Cuisine: Mexican

The three Rivera-Río brothers (Rodrigo, Daniel, and Patricio) combine their talents here, overseeing the culinary, pastry, and front-of-house efforts for this singular establishment. More than perhaps any other, this restaurant embodies the new face of Norteño cuisine, celebrating local ingredients and traditional dishes with a menu that is simultaneously inventive, playful, and bold. A sense of pride in local traditions and ingredients is apparent throughout their immersive tasting menu, whether it’s a suckling pig paired with a distinctive mole neolonés, or an exceptionally tender, reimagined take on cabrito, paired with plum and foie gras. Cocktail pairings, whether with or without alcohol, are both thoughtful and memorable.

Pangea Cuisine: Contemporary

After 25 years of operation, Chef Guillermo González Beristáin’s flagship remains a standard bearer for Monterrey’s fine dining scene, offering skillful cooking that combines Mexican cuisine with accents from Asia and France. The stylish space offers diners a choice between an ample à la carte offering and a tasting menu that best highlights the kitchen’s talents. Flavorful dishes, characterized by a sense of balance and astute seasoning, range from a sweet tamal of winter squash paired with crème fraîche and caviar, to a dish of crisp-skinned quail with foie gras mousseline, pistachios, and cherries. Desserts end the meal on an elegant note, like a Pavlova filled with raspberry compote and a sorbet of lychee and white tea.

Los Danzantes Oaxaca Cuisine: Mexican

This Oaxaca favorite can count more than 20 years of history to its name, but that’s not stopping the young chef Alex Burgos from forging ahead with his own ideas and sense of refinement. Set in a dazzling, open-air courtyard, the memorable space buzzes as personable servers guide locals and visitors alike. Start with hoja santa filled with local goat cheese and served in a warm tomatillo sauce before moving to the mole sampler, which is a masterclass in sauce work. Salsa borracha is another can’t-miss sauce that shines with tender pork ribs. Getting full? There is always room for the guava cheesecake, which is lighter than expected and crowned with mamey cream. The restaurant even makes its own mezcal, which is used in their finely made cocktails.

Levadura de Olla Restaurante Cuisine: Mexican

One could spend an entire afternoon in the shaded, breezy courtyard of the young talent, Chef Thalía Barrios Garcia. Colorful and creative, she channels traditional Oaxacan recipes as well as memories from her hometown of San Mateo Yucutindoo. Vegetables take priority over meat, evident in starters like the salad of local tomatoes dressed in a fruit vinaigrette and set on beet puree. The meatless tamales, which she learned from her grandmother, are peerless. A recent version featured delicate, full-flavored masa enrobed in a duo of moles and finished with squash blossoms. Heartfelt, comforting cooking can further be found in her machucados, a childhood favorite that blends tortillas and pipian salsa. A selection of ancestral beverages rounds out the experience.

Cocina de Autor Riviera Maya Cuisine: Contemporary

Once inside the opulence of the Grand Velas resort, guests are treated to an indulgent, immersive experience from beginning to end, encompassing live music, assiduous service, and, of course, singular cuisine. As its name indicates, the cooking here is driven by the creative vision of Chef Nahúm Velasco, in the guise of a sophisticated modern tasting menu that emphasizes novel flavor combinations and compelling textures. A meal might progress from spider crab paired with silky jackfruit, to roasted pork with black garlic, cleverly decorated with leaves made from beet and butternut squash, and end with textures of honey from the property's own Melipona beehives. The menu changes regularly, so there’s always an element of surprise alongside the culinary artistry.

Le Chique Cuisine: Contemporary

Nestled inside the Azul Beach Resort, Le Chique presents a thoroughly charming experience in a swanky setting. The space, service, and presentation all display a high polish, and there is a distinct theatrical sense that lends an air of special occasion to this spot. The tasting menu spans Mexico's regions, showing a clear sense of style and personality while consistently impressing with creativity, excellent ingredients, strong technique, and impactful flavors. Green passionfruit filled with foie gras parfait and vibrant maax ik or brûléed marrowbone with escamoles are just two of the first bites that set the meal off on a luxurious start. Seafood-based bites are then presented with a flourish, followed by heartier compositions. Finally, the sweets course is as tempting as the very first bite.

HA' Cuisine: Mexican

If you’re not staying at the Hotel Xcaret, be sure to devote extra time to arrive at this restaurant, as it involves some navigation. However, once you’ve found it, you’re in for a treat. The cuisine has a definite French bent, which is perhaps no surprise given Chef Carlos Gaytán’s training, but there is nonetheless a confident use of distinctly Mexican flavors and ingredients. This is cooking with a clear sense of identity and strong technique, and noteworthy for bold, creative flavor combinations. The mushroom beignet decorated with a frilly crisp of cauliflower in a creamy truffle and mint sauce is a standout, as is the seared filet mignon with crispy potato mille-feuille garnished with house-cured ikura. Choose the wine pairing to learn more about Mexican wines.

Our farm program has been developed to maximize conscious planting and harvesting; every ingredient grown in-house will be used on our menu. We use sustainable products from local farms allowing for traceability and illustrating responsible practices that lead to preservation. We also source products that help preserve national traditions and support our local community of farmers and fisherman.

We have 3 farms that grow specifically for Deckmans group. We source only legal, responsibly grown or foraged Baja California mollusks for our ingredients. We reuse all waste shells as erosion control, grind up for our chickens and use for calcium in our vineyards and farms. We make our own olive oil and use only salt from San Felipe.

Deckman's en El Mogor

We have 3 orchards where we produce approximately 80% of our vegetables. In each garden we have a minimum of 5 boxes of bees. We produce compost with organic waste; and use all the mollusk shells for erosion control, construction, garden fertilizer, and calcium for our chickens. On average, our ingredient travels 35km from production to consumption. We only use seafood products from Baja California.

Flora's Field Kitchen

This family-run property features 25 acres of organic herbs, vegetables and fruits trees including mango, papaya and citrus. We raise chickens for eggs and have a butcher program on site. Our ranch feeds are all vegetables, with no hormones or antibiotics and they are milled fresh every 2 weeks. We continue working to realize efficiencies between the farm, ranch, restaurant, and market. For example, we send our “spent” flowers out to the chickens who love to peck at the drying seed heads, vegetable trimmings go to the pigs and chickens, and chicken manure comes back to heat the composting we use on the farm.

Los Danzantes Oaxaca

We have our own organic garden and use seasonal products. We responsibly manage organic waste and follow a Zero Waste policy. We have alliances with small producers, social organizations and artisans. We donate our glass bottles and cooking oil to a glassblowing workshop that uses oil as an alternative fuel. We reuse coffee remains to roast our beets, and organic waste for compost. We collect rainwater to irrigate crops. 

Our monthly tasting menu is crafted from locally-sourced, seasonal produce, mainly from our own farm, vegetable garden, animal pen and apiary. All our dairy products are produced in-house. • Filters and Reviews: “Filter in, filter out, and read the reviews,” says Popp. “I usually start by filtering down to the category/style/brand I am looking for, but then progressively remove the filters to see if I missed anything spectacular. And I look for cues on sizing, whether that’s new technology solutions or purely customer reviews.” She points out that this kind of filtering strategy will likely save you a lot of time and energy that you'd spend returning purchases based on less research and insights.
• Fit: Once your shoes arrive, no matter if you love them or aren't too sure about them, Popp recommends trying them on more than once—just not after a long day on your feet. “This will ensure that it wasn’t a fluke or ‘love at first sight’ and you are truly able to walk comfortably and style the shoes as you anticipated,” she says.
• Style and Comfort: When it comes to choosing the right styles for your wardrobe and lifestyle, Popp says she usually goes by the “know thyself” rule. “If strutting in stilettos isn’t your thing, pick a blockier heel with sexy strapping and call it a day. Snap judgments don’t usually pay off in the footwear department,” Popp says. “Pick the shoes that let you be your best self—shoes should never hold you back because they hurt, slip, et cetera.” Features like cushioning, arch support, and a roomy toe box will also add comfort.

When it comes to shoes, trying them on and walking around in them is encouraged to gauge fit, but taking them out on the road or the town is often a different story. That is to say, you don't want to scuff them up and risk a retailer turning you away in the event that they don't ultimately work out. It’s generally a good idea to try shoes out on clean surfaces to keep them as clean as possible in case you have to make a return. And always check the site's return policy before purchasing.

Measuring your shoe size at home isn’t all that complicated, but if you're unsure where to start, all you’ll need is a ruler, a piece of paper, and a pencil. This video explains the rest of the process.

Depending on where you live, Homesite’s personal liability coverage may not automatically apply to incidents involving pets or swimming pools. Instead, you may have to add animal or pool liability to your policy separately if you need either type of coverage.

For homeowners policyholders in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon and Washington, Homesite offers free access to Wildfire Defense Systems. If a fire is threatening your area, WDS may take protective actions such as setting up sprinkler systems, removing anything combustible from around the house and applying fire-retardant gel.

You may also be able to add the following to your policy:

Identity theft coverage . If someone steals your identity, this coverage can pay for legal fees and other expenses associated with recovery.

Personal injury coverage. This coverage expands your liability insurance to cover libel, slander and invasion of privacy claims.

Extra coverage for valuables. A standard homeowners insurance offers limited coverage for jewelry, musical instruments and other pricey items. Adding this coverage ensures you’ll be reimbursed for their full value if they’re damaged or stolen.

Extended dwelling coverage. In case your home costs more to rebuild than expected due to inflation or high demand, this option adds a 25% or 50% cushion to your dwelling coverage limit. So if you have $200,000 of coverage for the structure of your home, Homesite would pay an extra $50,000 to $100,000 if necessary to rebuild it after a covered claim.

Replacement cost coverage for personal property. If your belongings are stolen or damaged, many homeowners policies reimburse you on an actual cash value basis. That means your payout is based on what the items were worth at the time of the incident. For older items, you might not get much of a payout since they’ve lost value over time. With replacement cost coverage, you’ll receive enough to buy brand-new replacement items.

Water backup coverage. This coverage pays for damage from a sewer line or drain that backs up, or a sump pump that overflows.

Mold protection. This coverage can reimburse you to test and remove wet or dry rot, fungi or bacteria.

Equipment breakdown coverage . If a major appliance or household system has a mechanical or electrical failure, this coverage can pay for repairs or replacement.

Service line coverage. This endorsement pays for damage to underground pipes, wires or other lines that serve your home.

Earthquake protection . Standard homeowners policies won’t pay for earthquake damage, so this coverage may be useful to add if you live in an area at risk.

Additional belongings coverage. This endorsement expands what the personal property section of your policy will cover to include scenarios like spills and drops.

Increased roof coverage. Having this coverage ensures you’ll get enough to fully replace a damaged roof after a hail- or windstorm (minus your deductible ), rather than a partial payout based on the age of the roof.

To evaluate a company’s complaint history, NerdWallet calculated a similar index for each insurer, weighted by market shares of each subsidiary, over the three-year period.
