Essay on “a visit to a mall” for students and children, best essay, paragraph, speech for class 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in english language..

A Visit to A Mall

I love visiting malls. The mall is a place where people shop, eat, hang out and just have fun. With the coming up of malls in different cities of the country, days of picnicking with family and friends are almost gone. As they do not have much time, people look for entertainment, food and shopping mall at one place. Malls make a suitable outlet to shop and pass time.

Our family recently visited the Heerabai Mall. It is amongst the most happening malls in the city. As we entered the mall, I was amazed. It was by far the largest shopping mall I had ever seen. The mall was packed with people. Kids ran all around the place. There was a big line at the center of the mall, filled with parents and their kids. Later, we found out that the line was formed for the kids that wanted to get their picture taken with Santa Claus.

There were so many stores of different kinds. People wandered around. We went from store to store of our interest. It was quite noisy inside but it all just seemed remarkable to me. Everyone there was dressed well, since it was about Christmas time. There were multi-cuisine food centres and a large movie theatre with several separate rooms with screens. It was known as multiplex cinema. Thus, everything was under one roof. My mother shopped eagerly for monthly rations. We now moved onto shopping for some decorative items and clothes for Christmas.

Shopping always makes me hungry. Thus, we moved towards the food centres. My sister and I ate pizzas. Our parents preferred diet cokes with chicken sandwiches and fruit salad. Food usually makes one lazy and we needed to rest for a while. Still shopping had to be done. Therefore, we chose to see Chhota Bheem movie showing at the multiplex in the mall. It was an adventurous movie.

After the movie was over, we decided to take on another round of shopping. Shopping had just begun to get better. This time we shopped for sports shoes and some accessories for dad. We also saw a sweet store that had assorted range of toffees and chocolates. They were in the shapes of dolls and animals.

Soon enough, it was the time for us to return home. Until now, we had so many carry bags. We had to go down to the parking to put them into our car. We happily headed towards home. Visiting such a mall was an enjoyable and wonderful experience.

500 Words Essay on Shopping Mall

Introduction to shopping malls.

Shopping malls are large buildings filled with many different stores. These stores sell a variety of items, like clothes, shoes, toys, electronics, and food. Shopping malls are a popular place for people to shop because they offer a wide range of products under one roof.

Structure of Shopping Malls

Shopping malls are usually multi-storied buildings. Each floor has a number of shops or stores. There are also escalators or elevators to help people move from one floor to another. Most malls have a food court, where there are many different types of food stalls. Some shopping malls even have movie theaters, play zones for kids, and other entertainment facilities.

Shopping malls offer many benefits. First, they save time. Instead of going to different places to buy different things, you can find everything you need in one place. This makes shopping easier and more convenient. Second, shopping malls offer a wide variety of products. You can compare prices and quality before making a purchase. Lastly, shopping malls are a great place to socialize. You can meet friends, have a meal together, or just spend time browsing the stores.

Challenges of Shopping Malls

Despite the benefits, there are also challenges with shopping malls. One of the main challenges is that they can be very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. This can make shopping stressful and tiring. Another challenge is that items in shopping malls can be more expensive than in local markets or online stores. This is because the shops in the malls need to pay for their rent and other expenses.

Impact of Shopping Malls on Society

Shopping malls have a big impact on society. They have changed the way people shop and spend their leisure time. Many people prefer to go to shopping malls because they offer a comfortable and convenient shopping environment. They also create jobs for many people, from shopkeepers to security guards. On the other hand, shopping malls can also lead to increased consumerism. People may buy things they don’t really need just because they are available and easy to buy.

In conclusion, shopping malls are an important part of modern life. They offer a convenient place to shop, eat, and have fun. Despite the challenges, they continue to be popular with people of all ages. It is important to be mindful of our spending habits in malls and make wise choices. Shopping malls are more than just places to shop – they are also places where we can spend time with friends and family, and enjoy our leisure time.

Essay About Shopping Malls

Why are young people attracted to shopping malls? Shopping malls are really convenient because you have all the shops you need under one roof. Shopping in such places can also be more economical because you can compare prices at different shops since they are all so close to one another. If I am not at a mall, I will probably buy the first thing I see, without comparing it with something similar at another shop. Finally, going to a mall is fun because there are also cafes and cinemas there, as well as video game arcades. That means a shopping mall is a great place to go for entertainment with your friends as there are plenty of other things to do besides shopping. Well, shopping in a mall is certainly entertaining and has several advantages. However, I think it 's important to support small local shops, as well. I believe you get better service in your neighbourhood stores. At a mall, the shops are mostly international chain stores and a lot of the products are imported. Would you like to live in yout hometown for the rest of your life? I am very happy where I live, as my neighborhood is a quiet one but never dull. There are lots of shops and many restaurants and coffee shops. It is close to the city center but far away from all the noise and crowds. Although my city is nice, it does have some major problems. The first thingsI would do is try to reduce the traffic by improving public transport. That would also help alleviate the pollution and noise problems. I would

Shopping Trumps Turkey Summary

The article, “Shopping Trumps Turkey”, by Gregory Karp, argues between whether or not retailers should initiate Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving day. Karp considers that retailers should not commence the sales a day earlier. I agree with the author, due to the fact that the retailers that begin the sales on Thanksgiving day are careless and greedy, along with commanding people to not spend time with their families. Clearly, retailers should not release Black Friday sales a day earlier. To start off, experts say that the saying of retailers opening because the consumers are asking them to is false.

How To Write A Rhetorical Analysis Shopping For American Culture

The topic discussed in this article focuses on the positive impacts malls have in society. Malls have been around for many years and continue to influence society into buying or shopping for material things in order to satisfy our everyday needs. They are also a way of connecting society by the interaction of shopping in masses brings and creates a fun ambiance for everyone to enjoy. Home was always different, every 2 to 3 years we always moved around so I really didn’t have many friends, until I moved to San Antonio is where I found a great home in 2007, the neighborhood was filled with nice people and each house actually had a lawn and not just broken cars or dried dirt in the front porches. The community was fantastic as well, the people and atmosphere we lived in when we moved to San Antonio was so much better than Laredo because people were actually nice to you and everyone didn’t look like they were going to cause trouble.

Essay On A Busy Shopping Mall

Then there were the pairs of housewives who were chiefly concerned with price. They could be seen making enquiries about prices and bargaining for better ones. Couples, young and old, sat eating fast food and talking in low voices. At every other corner, there was a small stand and a young enthusiastic sales person trying hard to attract the attention of the shoppers to the amazing prowess of some innovative product. Thought they were getting a good deal of attention judging by the crowds that mulled about the stands.

Essay Example on On A Busy Shopping Mall

Banners proclaiming huge discounts swayed about from the ceiling of the centre. It was still fairly early in the morning for people to be shopping but then of course, it was the season of sales. All over the tiny town, huge shops were holding sales. Almost everything could be got at a bargain. During the current period of unemployment and retrenchment, the sale was probably what many had looked forward to.

Only then could they afford to buy that branded pair of shoes or that glittering diamond bracelet that was at other times, priced well beyond the average man’s pocket.

As sat and waited, I noticed that there were a fair number of security officers walking about. In particular, they lingered about the stretch of jewelry shops further down the centre. The centre held many different shops selling varieties of products that ranged from household stuff to branded, designer goods to exclusive jewelry.

“ Rhizman is absolutely amazing at what he does . I highly recommend him if you need an assignment done ”

The shops were mainly situated on two sides of a sloping stretch of road. The road was closed for traffic to enable shop owners to walk about more comfortably and in safety. I perceived that there were crowds of people at the jewelry shops.

Amidst the hustle and bustle, a man in dark glasses and dressed entirely in black stood by the side of a lamp-post, at the end of the raw of shops. Two security persons seemed to be in heated conservation with him. Then, almost casually, the security man produced some small bags from the inside of their shirts and quickly placed them into the hands of the man in black who quickly disappeared into the crowd. Sat there, deeply baffled. The crowd was lost in its affairs.

The Sample TOEFL Essay

Shopping malls have a major impact on the neighborhoods surrounding them.  Personally, I believe that these effects are mostly negative, so I would oppose the construction of a new shopping area in my town. I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.

To begin with, a shopping mall would cause many small local businesses to shut down, which would have a negative effect on overall employment.  It is true that a shopping mall would employ a lot of people from the community, but the jobs lost at small local retailers forced out of business would be greater in number.  For instance, when a shopping mall opened in the small town where my parents live, it forced their favorite local hardware store out of business. Even though the hardware store located in the new mall was three times as large as the family store, it only employed half as many people.  Not only that, but the small local store employed well-paid experts, while the shopping mall mainly hires teenagers who earn minimum wage.

Secondly, shopping malls often result in urban sprawl, which is something that reduces the quality of life in the surrounding area.  While small local shops are usually located at the center of a city, shopping malls are usually found on the outskirts of town. It is possible for customers to walk to local stores found downtown, but it is necessary to drive to shopping malls.  To make matters worse, after a shopping mall becomes successful, other retailers will open up nearby and patronizing them also requires driving. I am of the opinion that the ability to walk to shops and services is a part of a high quality of life. My brother’s experience is a compelling example of this. Last year, a shopping mall opened in his city, and his favorite downtown bookstore closed as it couldn’t compete with the new bookstore in the mall.  He has told me many times that driving forty minutes just to buy a book is a real inconvenience, especially since he could just walk to the old bookstore.

In conclusion, I would strongly oppose the construction of a shopping mall in my hometown.  This is because it would force small family-run businesses to shut down, and because it would cause my life to be less pleasant. (394 words)

Paragraph on My Visit to a Shopping Mall – By Anand

visit to a shopping mall essay

Introduction:

A visit to a shopping mall is always exciting for someone who has resided in a rural area all his life.

I was always excited about tall buildings, shopping malls and big restaurants. I happen to have a chance to visit my aunt, who stays in the city.

I had already told her beforehand that the moment I reach, she would take me to a shopping mall to which she had readily agreed.

The shopping mall we went to was not far from her residence and was one of the biggest malls in the city. I was left with my jaw hanging when I looked at the enormity of the structure. It spanned the length equivalent to ten houses in my district. As we were nearing the entry, I felt a gush of cold air coming from inside. Not being very used to air-conditioning, it was a new experience for me. My aunt told me that she would buy new clothes and a bag for me. There was a huge crowd inside the mall and loud music played. At one particular corner, there was a music event in progress.

Shopping At the Mall:

ADVERTISEMENTS:

We entered one of the stores inside the mall and I was astounded to find so many varieties of clothes at the same place. It looked so colourful from a distance. We went from one rack to another looking through t-shirts and jeans. My aunt bought me a pair of jeans and t-shirts. I had never seen the usage of an ATM card before.

Everything was a new experience for me and I was elated the entire time. We then visited a shoe store because even my aunt had to buy new shoes for herself. She couldn’t find her preference in that store. We then visited almost ten different stores. After getting the shoes we went to have lunch.

Lunch at Shopping Mall:

The eateries at the mall were all big and enticing. Food items ranging from burgers, sandwiches, pizzas to Indian, Chinese, continental, etc. were available. My aunt took me to a Chinese eatery where she ordered haka noodles and ginger chicken. It tasted delicious, better than any other fast food I had before. We then had ice-cream for dessert.

Conclusion:

The visit to the shopping mall was a new and exciting experience for me. I saw many new things which I don’t usually get to see at my place. I was brimming with joy holding my new clothes and wearing new shoes. I expressed my desire of visiting the mall again to my aunt to which she smiled and agreed.

In Alan Brinkley’s essay The Mall he explores the history of shopping complexes in the United States and gives us insight on the different kinds of complexes. The mall started off as a shopping center. The first shopping center was the Country Club Plaza, opened in Kansas City in 1924. The shopping center soon increased in size and became small “strips.” In 1956, the first enclosed, climate controlled shopping opened in Minneapolis and was called South Dale Shopping Center many cities. The malls spread and began to have similar aspects of the downtowns that they were rapidly displacing, but they were safer. Soon after that malls started being built in many cities. The malls were still increasing in size and they were begging to add movie theaters, video arcades, bowling alleys, restaurants, and hotels. “In cities and towns in every part of America, malls became not just a place for shopping, but often centers of a much-altered community life as well” (Brinkley 115). Malls became like little cities with their own police that were private security forces. For the most part they were able to keep undesirable customers off the premises. Mall evolved into self-contained imitations of cities, minus many of the troubling abrasive features of downtowns. Malls set out to be perfect urban spaces mostly having white middle class women in mind. Many teenagers began to cling to the malls instead of other hang out spots such as street corners, parks and downtown. The mall became a universal shopping center that attracted everyone.…

Driving down Peach Street, there were many visible signs informing shoppers of how to reach the mall. It was very easy to exit the highway and reach the mall with no confusion and stress free. The one of twelve entrances eliminated the need to cluster parking spaces and promoted cars to spread out, allowing for a closer spot to the door. The entrances made it every wheelchair accessible with ramps and automatic doors. This positively contributed to my trip due to the fact my father is in a wheelchair. Analysis: Shopping For American Culture

Although, this is the only part of his essay with actual number facts, his remaining opinions are interesting as well. Farrell states, "Currently, America's shopping centers (most of which are malls) generate more than a trillion dollars in annual sales…more than half on the nation's retail activity." Just the though of one trillion of anything is an overwhelming amount to think of, especially in reference to how much money is actually spent at the mall per year. The other numbers, such as millions of people being employed and billions of square feet of leasable space add to the extent of what malls are becoming and continue to intrigue the reader. Lewis also states facts, but that of which he has gained through interviews with people who are often at the mall. Farrell used his factual numbers as a way to capture our attention so we would pay attention to his ideas; while Lewis used his factual information as the focal point of his essay. Ira Zepp uses his facts by referring to Eliade and Wheatley, as well as referring to architectural designs. He notes figure 10.3, which says "Park City, Lancaster PA. This mall reflects the many circles of a rose window, the quadrilateral design of a mandala, and the floor plan of a typical cathedral or basilica. The center of this mall in inescapable."
