How do I add Assignments tab to a Team
I am unable to add the Assignment tab to any of my Teams/Channels and cannot find the App in the Add Apps section. Please help.
Hi @Jannie Kriel ,
Do you have any further issue on this topic?
Hi, When you click "Join or Create a team", and click Create Team > If you see a team type > You can choose "Class" type. In the Class Team Type it has already the button Assignment. Other Team type not a Class Team type the button Assignment is hidden. Thanks
According to your description, it seems you cannot find TD Assignments when you add this tab in your Teams channel.
If you are the admin in Microsoft Teams, we recommend you go to Teams admin center, click Teams apps -> Manage apps to search if Assignments can be found in it.
Besides, please check your permission policy for Teams apps in your organization and make sure you allowed all apps in Microsoft Teams.
If the response is helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and upvote it.
Hi @Jannie Kriel
Is there any update on this issue?
Hi @JimmyYang-MSFT
I am currently facing the same issue, "Assignment" tab is missing not "TD Assignments" as mentioned in your answer. It is not available in the list of apps either.
Another colleague of mine has the Ässignment" tab in her Microsoft Teams.
Could you advice please?

Creating assignments for students in Microsoft Teams issues you cannot overlook if you’re planning to manage multiple tasks and people at the same time.
Many new features have been brought to Teams’ assignments in the past few months. The promise of a faster, more streamlined design has turned into reality and it didn’t come alone.
Assignment creation finally has a more intuitive single-column layout, teachers can easily view how the document would appear for students, review their work in a snap and grade them on the go.
It sounds almost too good to be true, at least until discovering that Microsoft Teams assignments are not showing up sometimes. Worry not, as we’ve got various solutions that you can try to resolve your problem. Let’s dive right in.
What can I do if Teams assignments aren’t showing up?
1. download the android mobile app.
- Go to your mobile device.
- Follow the link on Microsoft’s download page .
- You may also grab it from Google Play Store .
- Install Microsoft Teams as any other regular app.
Don’t know how to react when Microsoft Teams assignments fail to show up and you’re out of time? Mark it as a known issue and simply apply this workaround, later followed by an actual desktop solution.
If you are looking for the quickest way now, then simply use Microsoft Teams on Android mobile.
2. Check for Microsoft Teams fresh updates
- Click your profile picture at the top of the app.
- Select Check for updates .
- If a new update is available, it will be downloaded and installed when the computer is idle.
- Then, exit your Teams entirely.
- Restart it to check it again.
The desktop client normally updates itself automatically and it’s up to date most of the time. If you want, you can still check for available updates. To do so, just complete the above procedure and make sure they’ll provide the necessary feature and speed enhancements.
Note : You must be signed in for updates to be downloaded.
3. An alternate way to check Microsoft Teams assignments
- Go to the Teams section of the side-bar.
- Select the Team used for your course.
- In the Teams client, go to Activity in a single team . Here you should be able to check all the assignments.
- Click Assignments in different team to see if you can check it in the Assigned tab , mark it, or give a feedback.
4. Wait for the notification of grading
The notification of grading may suddenly restore access to the previously missing assignment. Just double check it via Activity tab .
5. Get Microsoft Teams desktop client
- Visit the official Teams on desktop page .
- Choose the Desktop version to start the download.
- Do one of the following:
- Choose Open or Run this program from its current location if you want to start the installation immediately.
- Choose Save or Save this program to disk to copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time.
Remember that assignments may refuse to show up as Teams doesn’t fully run in Safari. We recommend you to stop looking for the assignments in the Microsoft Teams web client on Safari and download the desktop client instead.
Remember that Microsoft Teams is a collaboration tool used as an extension of a classroom or as a hub for teamwork in general.
There is no arguing that assignments play an important part in any teamwork environment, so make sure to try all of the mentioned methods to solve your problem, even if this means stepping in and taking the matter into your own hands.

Give a custom name to the General channel in Microsoft Teams
Teams Public Preview team

Hi , M icrosoft 365 Insiders! We’re excited to share that it’s now possible to rename the General channel in an existing team in Microsoft Teams, or give a custom name to the first channel you create in a new team. This allows you to give a more meaningful name to this important channel.
Up until now, every team in Microsoft Teams had a default General channel. All team members are part of this channel, and it can’t be archived or deleted.
We’ve heard from users that they wanted the option to retitle this channel to something more meaningful. So, we made it happen! The General channel can now be renamed by the team’s owners. It will then show up in alphabetical order like other channels in the teams and channels lists for all members.
How it works
1. To rename an existing team, open Microsoft Teams and navigate to that team.
2. As the team owner, select the More options button next to the General channel.
3. Select Rename channel .
4. In the Channel name field, give the channel a meaningful name, and then select the Save button.
5. To create a new team, navigate to the + button in the header and select New team from the context menu. You are now able to name the first-created channel in this team whatever you like (it will no longer be named General by default). This channel cannot be archived or deleted, and it will appear in alphabetical order with the other channels in that team.
Tips and tricks
- The General channel can also be renamed from the Manage channel settings page or the context menu from the onboarding page channel header.
- General is a reserved string, and no new channels can be named General.
- The first-created channel in a new team will have the same description as the team by default.
Availability
To use these new features, you must be a member of the Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release and use the new Teams client for Windows or macOS. Other meeting participants aren’t required to be members of the Teams Public Preview.
To enable your Teams client for the Public Preview, IT administrators must enable Show preview features in their update policy. Learn more
For Targeted release, global admins can go to the Microsoft 365 admin center and give access to a select set of individuals or the entire organization. Learn more
Feedback
We want to hear from you! Select Settings and more > Help in the top right corner of the Teams app, and then select either Give feedback or Suggest a feature to share your thoughts.

Find your BitLocker recovery key
A BitLocker recovery key is needed when BitLocker can’t automatically unlock an encrypted drive in Windows. This key, which is a 48-digit number, is used to regain access to the drive.
You might be prompted for the BitLocker recovery key during startup, due to a security risk or hardware change:
You might need to provide a BitLocker recovery key for data or external drives, for example if you forgot the unlock password:
This article provides information to help you locating your BitLocker recovery key.
Having trouble playing the video? Watch it on YouTube .
Take note of the recovery key ID
When you are prompted to enter a BitLocker recovery key, take note of the first 8 digits of the recovery key ID .
The recovery key ID helps identifying which recovery key to use, in case you have more than one.
Where can I find a BitLocker recovery key?
There are several places where your recovery key might be, depending on the choice that was made when activating BitLocker. Expand each section to learn more:
Attached to your Microsoft account
If the BitLocker recovery key is backed up to your Microsoft account , follow these steps to retrieve it:
From another device, open a web browser and go to https://aka.ms/myrecoverykey
Sign in with your Microsoft account and locate the key ID:
Use the related recovery key to unlock the drive
If the device was set up, or if BitLocker was turned on, by somebody else, the recovery key might be stored in that person’s Microsoft account.
Starting in Windows 11, version 24H2, the BitLocker recovery screen shows a hint of the Microsoft account associated with the recovery key.
Attached to your work or school account
If your device was ever signed into an organization using a work or school account , the recovery key could be stored in that organization's account. You might be able to access it directly, or you might need to contact the IT support for that organization to access your recovery key.
From another device, open a web browser and go to https://aka.ms/aadrecoverykey
Sign in with your work or school account
Select Devices and expand the device for which you need to retrieve the recovery key
Select the option View BitLocker Keys
Using the key ID, find the related recovery key and use it to unlock the drive
On a printout
You might have printed your recovery key when BitLocker was activated. Look where you keep important papers related to your device.
For example, in the following printout the key id and the relative recovery key are highlighted:
On a USB flash drive
Plug the USB flash drive into your locked device and follow the instructions. If you saved the key as a text file on the flash drive, use a different device to read the text file.
What if I can't find the recovery key?
If your device is managed by an organization, check with your IT department to retrieve the recovery key.
If you can’t find the BitLocker recovery key and are unable to undo any changes that caused it to be needed, you’ll have to reset your device using one of the Windows recovery options .
Resetting your device will remove all of your files.
Important: Microsoft Support is unable to provide, or recreate, a lost BitLocker recovery key.
