How to Use Keynote Presenter Display View in 60 Seconds

Andrew Childress

Presenter Display view is one of the best tools in Keynote to help you get comfortable with giving a presentation. It's designed for multiple screens, so that you can keep your important data in front of you with the presentation shown to the audience on another screen.

To get started with presenter view, make sure that you're using a multiple display setup. Usually, this is a laptop connected to a projector or external display.

How to Add Presenter Notes in Keynote on Mac, iPhone, and iPad

keynote presentation mode with notes

In this article, I will explain how you can add presenter notes to your slides in Keynote on your Mac, iPad, or iPhone.

When you are creating a presentation, for every slide, you can add presenter notes (also called speaker notes) to provide reference material for you, as the speaker or presenter, when you are presenting a slideshow in front of an audience. For example, these notes may help you recall important points during your presentation. These notes will only show up on your screen. They aren’t visible to the audience. You can also print these notes.

How to customize the presenter display in Keynote

In this tutorial, we will help you customize the presenter display feature in the Keynote app on your Mac, iPad, and iPhone so you’re ready for your next presentation.

Customizing Presenter display in Keynote on iPhone

Do you present a lot of slideshows using Keynote or at least enough that you’d like to make things a bit easier? One way to do this is by taking advantage of the presenter notes feature, but another is customizing the presenter display.

When you show a presentation in Keynote, you can configure the screen you see as the presenter. Whether for comfort or easy access to items, setting up that view for what works best for you can lead to a successful presentation.

Related: How to work with Keynote Presenter Notes on Mac and iOS

Customize the Keynote presenter display on Mac

Open your slideshow in Keynote. You can either play your presentation, use the Rehearse Slideshow mode, or jump right into customizing the display.

  • #1 Click the Play button in the toolbar.
  • #2 Click Play in the menu bar and select Play Slideshow or Rehearse Slideshow .
  • #3 Click Play in the menu bar and select Customize Presenter Display .

If you choose #3, you’ll go directly to the customization options and skip the first group of settings you can adjust. For this tutorial, we’ll customize the display using #1 or #2 above so that you can see the first group of settings.

1) On the presenter screen (Play > Rehearse Slideshow), click the Layout Options button at the top. This is the square icon to the right of the Help button (question mark).

2) Here, you can check or uncheck the items available. This includes the current slide, next slide, presenter notes, ready indicator, clock, and timer.

If you check the Timer setting, you can then pick from displaying elapsed or remaining time. This is a terrific way to stay on track with longer presentations.

Customize Presenter Display Layout Options Keynote Mac

3) To change the layout of the display, click Customize Presenter Display in that small window.

4) You’ll then see those same checkboxes, and you can adjust them here if you like.

In addition, you can move, resize, and position items, as well as change the appearance of your presenter notes.

Customize Presenter Display Keynote Mac

Move items : Click and drag elements to different locations on the screen. By default, slide labels move with the slides, but you can drag a label separately if you like. To move multiple items at once, hold the Command key and click each one. You can then move the selected group.

Resize items : Drag a corner or edge of an element to resize it. To retain an item’s proportions when you resize it, hold the Shift key as you drag. To proportionally resize from the center of an item, hold the Shift and Option keys as you drag.

Automatically position items : Click the Use Auto Layout button.

5) When you finish customizing your display, click OK .

Customize the Keynote presenter display on iPhone and iPad

While it’s easier to present a Keynote slideshow on Mac, in my opinion, that might not be an option for you. So here are the steps to access the customization settings for your presenter display on iPhone and iPad.

1) If your external display is connected, tap Play . If not, select tap the More button (three dots) on the top right and select Rehearse Slideshow .

2) On the top right, tap the rectangle that displays your Layout Options. This is to the left of the X to stop the slideshow.

Tap the layout view you want to use from options like current or next slide, slides with notes, or notes only.

Customize Presenter Display Layout Options Keynote iPad

3) Below Presenter Notes , you can increase or decrease the font size of your notes or invert those colors.

By default, the clock displays at the top. If you tap it, it will switch to the timer with elapsed time.

Customize Presenter Display Timer Keynote iPad

You don’t have as many customization options for the presenter display on iPhone and iPad as you do on Mac. But those you do have should help to get your display in a way that works for you.

With some small adjustments, you can create the perfect presenter display to move through your Keynote slideshow. Are you going to keep these options in mind for your next presentation?

How to use Keynote's hidden presentation features to hold your audience's attention

William Gallagher's Avatar

Last updated 3 years ago

Apple's Keynote application isn't only for creating slideshow presentations, it's for showing them too. That's quite unusual for software: nobody writes a book in Word and then holds their iPad up for people to read from. Yet the two sides of Keynote are complementary and what you set up while you were creating your presentation will help you now with showing it.

Keynote has a lot more to offer when you're getting ready to put this show on the road. There are tools to make your presentation work the way you expect — and there are tips to help ensure it does.

You've made that non-linear presentation using Master Slides, Outline View and Light Table . You've also included video even though we warned you about that.

keynote presentation mode with notes

The warning about video isn't only because you're relying on your venue to have loudspeakers. It's also because video files are big, and it makes your presentation file that much larger, and that much more difficult to transport.

Don't include any more video that you absolutely must. We mean that literally. If you have to have a 35-second clip, make it 35 seconds and not 36.

You can drag in a three-hour movie and then trim it down to 35 seconds in Keynote but you're not actually cutting the size of the video file. You're just determining how much of the whole file your audience will see. Keynote keeps the entire clip in your presentation so that you can later change your mind and adjust the clip you want.

For that reason, do your basic trimming in QuickTime Player on your Mac or use something like Final Cut Pro X to do more elaborate work. Only drag in the finished segment you need. Otherwise, your presentation could be so bloated that it takes longer to sync over iCloud from your Mac to your iPad.

It could also be so weighed down with the video file size that the presentation will run slower, too.

Watch your size

If your Mac's storage is not yet using APFS, the Apple File System, then after your presentation goes over about 500MB on your Mac, Keynote will step in. When you go to save it, you'll be prompted to choose between saving as a Single File or as a Package.

keynote presentation mode with notes

You get the choice but you only get it once: whatever you pick now is set for the life of this presentation. This is a problem that goes away when you're using APFS so over time it will be seen less and less. For now, though, your best bet is to choose Single File — so long as your presentation isn't already creakingly slow when you're editing it.

The reason is that a package lets Keynote split your presentation data out into separate files and folders so that it can then choose what to load and when. Rather than your video sitting there throughout 200 slides, it can be loaded when you reach the one slide it's on.

Plus a package with lots of little files suits the way that iCloud syncs data. So if you're the only person who's going to use this presentation and that's how you want to sync, choosing package could help you.

However, if you need to share it over Dropbox or really any other cloud service then packages aren't as robust as a single file is.

Even if you don't need to share the presentation with anybody else, though, save copies on different cloud services — and in different formats.

Belt and braces

Save your shiny new Keynote presentation to the Mac and/or iPad you're going to be presenting it from. Preferably save in iCloud Drive where all your devices can get it. Then save it to Dropbox too. Email yourself a copy. Pop one onto a USB stick.

And when you've done all that, do it all again but with the presentation saved in the old Keynote '09 format.

And then when you've done even that, do it all again but saving the presentation as a Microsoft PowerPoint file .

Sometimes your venue will have a Mac in place and it's better to use their equipment instead of yours because it's already tried and tested. Only, the Mac is using the older Keynote format.

keynote presentation mode with notes

Or perhaps the venue neglected to tell you that every speaker has to hand over their entire presentation at the start of the conference. There are companies that will insist on joining every speaker's presentation together so that a single file runs for the entire day. When that happens, you can bet it'll be a PowerPoint file.

Better you give them a PowerPoint file that Keynote has created than to trust that their PowerPoint will open Keynote okay.

Then there are the acts of God that will leave you without any copy of the presentation at all. Dropbox or iCloud should get it back but there is one further option.

Go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID. There's a fully-functioning copy of Keynote on that site and we've used it for three-day-long residential workshops when necessary.

Remember your place

All of this so far has been about the visual side of presentations, of about making sure your audience has something to look at. They also need to hear you, though, and Keynote has tools to help you make sure you stay on track.

keynote presentation mode with notes

Every time you create a slide, you can write your own notes at the bottom. These Presenter Notes won't be seen by your audience, they will only show on your Mac or iPad screen in front of you.

That's even when you're presenting from that screen: Keynote is excellent at by default routing only the slides to an external screen.

On the Mac, choose the View menu and then Show Presenter Notes . You get a small text box at the foot of the screen and it's tied to each individual slide. Write something in it, then move to the next slide and write in that one's empty text box.

When you duplicate slides, by the way, you also duplicate the notes. So if you've done a slide you really like and want to base the next few on it, select-and-cut the note before you duplicate the slide. Otherwise you'll have the same note in every one.

That's an issue if you've gone back to the View menu and chosen the Hide Presenter Notes option for any reason. When you later come to present and switch on the notes, you'll lose track of what you meant to write where.

On the iPad, tap on the three-dot ellipses icon at top right and then toggle on Show Presenter Notes .

What you see

It's years since we presented from our Macs because the iPad version of Keynote is so very good, especially when used with an Apple TV . Except for one thing.

On the Mac, you can have your screen be showing you all sorts of things that the audience isn't supposed to see. You can have your presenter notes, for instance, but also both the current and the next slides showing.

keynote presentation mode with notes

Then you can choose to have a clock showing you the current time or a countdown of how long you've been speaking — or both.

On the iPad, you're more limited. You can have the clock or the timer and many presenters don't even know you've got that option. By default Keynote shows you the clock but you can tap on it to swap to the timer.

Then you can have presenter notes and the current slide. You can have presenter notes and the next slide. You can have the current and next slides on your screen.

Only, you can't have current and next slides plus presenter notes and that's the one we want the most.

However, there is a way around it. Previously we recommended planning your Keynote presentation in another app such as OmniOutliner. If you've done that, and not strayed too far from the original plan, then you can re-use that outline now.

Open your Keynote presentation on the iPad, press Play to start the slideshow. Then swipe up from the bottom of the screen to show the dock and then choose OmniOutliner from there. Drag it up and to one side of the presentation.

keynote presentation mode with notes

So long as Keynote is playing the slideshow, your audience will see the current slide. And you'll see current and next plus an entirely separate outline.

What the audience gets

The audience or the venue will always ask you for a copy of your slides. You can tell them as often as you like that the slides make little sense without you standing there talking in front of them, but it doesn't matter.

Don't bother arguing and also don't bother doing any fiddling with the slides. Just choose File , Print and then in that print dialog click on Show Details .

There are options in these details to determine whether your printed version includes the presenter notes and slide numbers, whether it includes any skipped slides. Make sure those are all turned off and then click on the PDF button and choose Save as PDF .

Having done a number of travelling, online presentations -- the first back in 1986 before there were projectors and (real) laptops -- these are good tips. I have seen so many go out there there assuming that "you just turn it on a go" find out differently. But, they forgot the most important part:   donuts.   If all else fails, keep 'em happy with donuts.

Is there a way to print just the presenter notes?

How to use Keynote’s new Play Slideshow in Window feature with videoconferencing services

keynote mac icon 2020

Keynote is designed best for presenters to work across two screens. One is typically a projector or large monitor; the other, a laptop screen or computer screen in front of the presenter. Keynote fills that second screen with a variety of presenter’s tools, like notes, thumbnails of the previous and next slides, and a time-elapsed clock.

mac911 keynote presenter screen

In a normal two-screen Keynote presentation, slides occupy one screen (as at top), while presenter’s tools, including notes, fit on another screen.

In the new world of always-online meetings, whether professional or social club, you might have frequently been frustrated, even if you have two monitors at home. Full-screen app mode in macOS in general doesn’t interact well with Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other videoconferencing tools, because you typically must stay in the app that’s gone full screen to keep it working in that fashion.

In particular, Keynote is tricky. In Zoom, for instance, you have to open the Keynote slide deck and not enter slideshow mode ( Play > Play Slideshow ). Instead, you switch back to Zoom, use its screen-sharing option to select the Keynote slide window, then return to Keynote and start the presentation.

However, even with all that monkeying about, you must remain in Keynote to present. Some conferencing tools (including Zoom), let you have access through floating overlays to certain features. Zoom can show a resizable strip of the participants watching the session, for instance. (Keynote does offer the option to press H—not Command-H, but simply H—to hide Keynote in presentation mode and return to the previous app without breaking out of full-screen mode.)

With a new option introduced in July by Apple to Keynote, however, you can have more control and flexibility, particularly if you want to switch among other apps or remain largely in the videoconferencing app while presenting. My trick combines that new presentation option with the Keynote for iOS/iPadOS app.

Apple added Play > Play Slideshow in Window to Keynote, which presents slides with full interactivity in a regular window instead of the previously required single- or dual-monitor full-screen mode. The presentation window can be resized and moved around. You can start the slideshow and then share its window in a videoconferencing app, so you don’t have to show the raw Keynote interface at all before you start the presentation, as you do with a full-screen slideshow.

mac911 presenter screen

A slide presentation in Zoom using Play Slideshow in Window looks just as good as when using Keynote’s full-screen mode.

Because the Slideshow in Window option is a regular window, you can switch among apps without causing problems with Keynote. But two problems remain: First, you have to return to the window to advance slides (or go backwards). Second, none of the presenter’s tools are available.

That’s where the mobile app comes in. With Keynote on your iPhone or iPad, you can use the Keynote Remote feature to link the app to your Mac. (See Apple’s step-by-step instructions here on pairing your devices via the Keynote apps.)

Once paired, you can use this sequence to share a Keynote screen. The example that follows is for Zoom, but it works with any tool that allows screen-sharing of a window or portion of a window:

Open your slide deck in Keynote for macOS.

Choose Play > Play Slideshow in Window .

In an active Zoom meeting on your Mac, click the Share Screen button and select the Keynote window from the Basic tab. Click Share .

On your iPhone or iPad, use Keynote Remote to select your Mac and tap Play (even though the presentation is already playing—this tap asserts control by the Keynote mobile app).

Tap the side-by-side screen icon and select a mode that shows you notes and slides as you like. You can pick among Current and Notes, Next and Notes, and Notes Only to see your notes.

mac911 keynote ios app control

The mobile Keynote app lets you remotely control a presentation in macOS.

You can now get the best of all worlds. Advance or pick slides from the mobile app; read your notes as needed on the mobile app; have full access to macOS without worrying about disturbing the Keynote presentation.

Keep your slides updated

If you're working with a team of people to create your slide deck it may be that changes are being made to the slides right up to the last minute. Traditionally once you've started your presentation your slides wouldn't update. If you're using PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 you have the option to let your slides be updated by your team even as you're presenting so that you always have the up-to-the-minute changes.

You can turn this on by going to the Slide Show tab of the ribbon, selecting Set Up Slide Show , and checking the box for Keep slides updated .

Present with your team. Seamlessly.

For slideshows with multiple presenters, you can now take turns controlling a single deck — from anywhere — on Mac, iPad and iPhone.

Play YouTube and Vimeo videos right in Keynote.

Embed a video from YouTube or Vimeo, then play them right in your presentations, without the need to download or open the video in a media player. 2

Present over video conference. Like a pro.

Play a slideshow in its own window so you can access other apps while you present. You can view your presenter notes, upcoming slides and navigation in a separate window as well.

Outline your presentation. Easier.

With outline view for iPhone and iPad, quickly jot down your thoughts, restructure ideas and move concepts from slide to slide. Then switch to slide view and start designing.

Present like never before. From anywhere.

With Keynote, presenting remotely can be just as seamless as presenting in person. Say goodbye to saying “Next slide, please” — now multiple people can present together, even remotely, with each person taking control of their section of the deck. Add a live video feed of yourself to any slide for a picture-in-picture experience. Or when presenting on your Mac, include a live feed of your iPhone or iPad screen to walk through your apps. You can even play a slideshow in its own window, so you can simultaneously access your notes and other apps.

Any presentation. Any device. Anytime.

You don’t work in one place on just one device. The same goes for Keynote. Work seamlessly across all your Apple devices. The slides you create using a Mac or iPad will look the same on an iPhone or web browser — and vice versa.

You can also work on presentations stored on iCloud or Box using a PC.

Start using Keynote at iCloud.com

Create and present together. Even when apart.

Work together in the same presentation, from across town or across the world. You can see your team’s edits as they make them — and they can watch as you make yours too. You can even get notifications when people join, edit or comment. When presenting as a team, you can also take turns controlling a single deck from anywhere.

Use Apple Pencil when inspiration strikes.

Turn Keynote Presenter Display off

I have three screens. IO do not need the Presenter Display on two of them. I must have one for other uses. How do I choose which screen to put the Presenter view on?

Hello Timothy Stringer,

The following instructions can help with presenting with multiple displays. Per the article Play a presentation on a separate display in Keynote on Mac :

If you have two or more external displays connected to your Mac, you can specify which one plays your presentation. The other displays become presenter displays, and you can customize their layout.

  • Connect two or more external displays to your computer.

the Play button

  • Your presentation begins to play on one of the external displays. The other external displays and your Mac become presenter displays.

the Display Configuration button

  • Thumbnail images of up to six connected displays are shown. The primary presenter display has a star next to its name and the label Primary Display. It also has the presenter display toolbar and the  slide navigator , which you use to jump to a different slide.
  • Click Configure below the thumbnail of any display, then do any of the following:
  • Show the presentation on the display:  Click Show Slideshow.
  • Stop playing the presentation on the display:  Click Show Presenter Display.
  • Change the items that show on a presenter display:  Choose any combination of options from the list. For example, you can set your presenter notes to show on the primary display and set the current and next slides to show on a third display.
  • Modify the layout of items on a presenter display:  Click Customize Presenter Display, then make changes.

7. Click Done.

Ea college football 25 patch notes: massive update impacts every mode.

Quinshon Judkins

The update every EA College Football 25 fan has been waiting for has arrived.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, EA unveiled its first major update for its college football game, and yes, the overpowered spin move and other major cheese plays were addressed.

The notes were provided to me on Aug. 7.

It's impossible to comment on every layer of the update, so I'll post it in sections and focus on some of the more high-profile areas.

The gameplay section of the patch notes received the most attention. Several teams saw new shotgun formations, and there are a total of 8 additions on that front. However cool those will be to use, the more impacting changes are related to tuning.

Tweaks have been made to AI defenders in regard to pursuit angles. Also, defenders should be more effective with tackles from behind. The way it has been in the game since launch if you're trying to drag a ball carrier down as a trailing defender, you're out of luck.

The Best Gaming Mouse That’ll Improve Your Aim

Another impactful change is the increased stamina drain to quarterbacks who run around for a year and a half behind the line of scrimmage. That's hyperbole, but you can sense my irritation in those instances.

In my experience, the most significant gameplay change is the decreased effectiveness of spin moves. According to the notes, EA has "adjusted the thresholds required to receive the most effective Juke and Spin moves."

Hopefully, this change will make fewer running backs, wide receivers, and Jalen Milroe–specifically–less effective on the spin move.

I got a chance to do a quick test with Judkins, and you can clearly see the spin is far less OP.

In addition to nerfing the spin move, EA "increased the speed penalty for running out of stamina during play."

This change should prevent the runs that allow players to pull off multiple spin moves without losing speed or the ability to break tackles.

While some of these plays have been great to watch in a vacuum, they're a bit game-breaking, especially from a competitive gaming standpoint.

These changes hope to bring us a little closer to a simulation without diminishing the wide-open nature of the gameplay experience that we've enjoyed. There is a delicate balance to maintain here, and we hope that EA found the right formula.

Here are all the gameplay changes from EA's patch notes.

"● Included eight new shotgun formations to a total of 35 teams: Bunch Quads Open (Known as Diamond Quads; added to teams including Texas Tech, Western Michigan), Deuce Twins Over (Buffalo, Toledo), Slot F Wing (NC State, Liberty), Split Pro Far (NC State, Liberty), Split Pro Near (NC State), Tight Y Off Flex (Florida), Wing HB Wk Close (Indiana, Minnesota), Wing Slot Over (Texas A&M, Kansas State)

● Tuning and logic enhancements to pursuit angles.

○ Introduced new behavior that further differentiates players with high and lower pursuit ratings.

Dev Note: We will monitor feedback on how this change impacts gameplay and, based on results, could make further adjustments in a future title update.

● Reduced frequency of broken tackles from trailing defenders.

● Fixed various instances of rare broken play bugs.

● Fixed issue where certain formations had offensive players align too wide when on the near or far hash.

● Fixed an issue where you could not use 4-2-5 or 3-3-5 formations in a custom playbook.

● Fixed an issue where single-back formations would be assigned the wrong name when creating a custom playbook.

● Fixed an issue where Spiking the Ball in online modes was not working as part of the Turbo Tempo system.

● Fixed an issue so a Speed Option Running Back will follow the QB longer.

● Adjusted AI QB behavior on shot plays to make more lob throws vs bullet passes.

● Adjusted AI QB behavior to be less aggressive based on awareness rating.

● Adjusted AI offensive line behavior, resulting in fewer illegal man downfield penalties during RPO-style plays.

○ Dev Note: For the best chances at success, press the icon of which receiver you want to throw to before the RB receives the ball.

● Adjusted the DB's ability to effectively shed blocks on the perimeter.

● Increased the speed penalty for running out of stamina during play.

● QB scrambles behind the line of scrimmage will lose stamina at a faster rate.

● Fixed an exploit where players would leave a QB contain player unblocked and run around them.

○ Dev Note: We will make further improvements to QB Contain in a future title update.

● Increased the reward players receive for shading inside or outside correctly in Man Coverage vs passing routes.

● Adjusted False Start chances when you make pre-play adjustments late in the play clock.

● Fixed an issue where run-fit defenders were not responding as effectively to Wildcat run plays.

● Made an adjustment to the Wildcat Unbalanced Motion Zone play.

● Reduced the effectiveness of multiple laterals in a single play.

● Adjusted the thresholds required to receive the most effective Juke and Spin moves.

● Adjusted press animations to be more of an effective counter to the Takeoff Ability.

● Updated pass protection mechanic to only include the RB in the protection if they are already on a block or block and release assignment."

Further nerfing the spins and Milroe, EA has rebalanced the gold and platinum tiers of jukes, spins, and extender abilities.

Here is what EA shared about the changes to Abilities.

"Updated the coloring of Platinum tier Abilities to further distinct the look vs Silver Abilities.

● Rebalanced the Gold and Platinum tiers of the Juke and Spin abilities like 360 and Side Step.

● Rebalanced the Platinum tier of the extender ability, including not firing on QB designed run plays.

● Slightly rebalanced the effectiveness of the Gold and Platinum tiers of the Quick Jump Ability. Additionally, we made adjustments to the tier levels found on the Texas Front 7."

The most significant pain area in Dynasty mode is the issues with the feature's online version. EA has fixed an issue preventing users from creating more than 20 coaches.

There's also been some tuning to the Heisman voting logic. EA has decreased the value given to top receivers, but I doubt that change will completely scratch the itch.

In the Dynasties I've had, I've seen far too many unlikely players win the Heisman. In Road to Glory, I've seen running backs have historic seasons but still fail to qualify as finalists for the award.

Hopefully, this part of Dynasty receives future adjustments.

Here is a complete breakdown of everything that changed with Dynasty mode.

"● Fixed an issue where players were unable to have more than 20 created coaches at one time in an online Dynasty League.

● Various fixes around score summaries and Box Scores.

● Various fixes for News Stories.

● Introduced a new Playoff Bracket Screen.

● Updated Texas/Oklahoma Rivalry data.

● Discovered that FCS SE, MW, and NW were secretly using professional players and passing them off as collegiate players. Gave them sanctions and ensured they are now using properly-rated players.

○ Dev Note: For this change to go into effect, you will need to create a new Dynasty.

● Fixed an issue where Wear and Tear did not recover for FCS teams, resulting in a high number of FCS team injuries during gameplay.

● Reduced dynamic attendance penalties for playing FCS teams.

● Increased dynamic attendance in rivalry games.

● Retuned Toughest Places to Play formula to reduce the impact that large stadiums have on Toughest Places to Play and increase the value of filling the stadium and winning games at home historically.

○ Reduced impact of raw crowd size.

○ Increased impact of historical win rate.

○ Increased impact of attendance rate.

● Updated Right hand panel in Stadium Atmosphere Grade on My School screen to accurately reflect the Toughest Places to Play at all times.

● Increased the accumulation of Pride stickers, particularly for defensive players and offensive linemen.

● Reduced the Chance to Transfer Penalty for players rated below 90 OVR.

● Updated Coach Talents on Wyoming Offensive Coordinator.

● Defensive Schemes and Playbooks for the following teams have been updated.

○ USC ○ UCLA ○ Mississippi State ○ Texas Tech ○ UConn ○ Miami ○ Memphis ○ Nevada ○ North Carolina ○ Notre Dame ○ Oregon State ○ San Jose State ○ TCU ○ Texas A&M ○ Troy ○ UMass

● Updating your coach's playbook in the Schemes and Playbooks screen will now update your team's scheme and should be reflected in Team Needs.

● Fixed an issue where Offensive Linemen would appear in the Preseason Heisman Watch in future seasons.

● Updated the Heisman Watch logic to reduce the value of receiving TDs.

Dev Note: Our primary goals for this update were to remove most of the recruiting strategies that were discovered during early access and to smooth out the pain points our players were reporting. Recruiting is a delicate balance as we want to try to make things as realistic as possible, while also allowing players to live out their football fantasies. With that in mind, we decided to introduce additional recruiting logic and balance changes:

■ Fixed an issue where teams were pursuing too many quarterbacks in High School Recruiting.

■ Reduced the number of unrecruited 4 and 5 stars early in the season.

■ Increased the number of players that the AI will pursue at one time.

● Dev Note: The above changes strive to decrease the number of players that go unrecruited until late in the cycle, while also slightly reducing how aggressive the AI could be with those recruits once they start to recruit them. Our goal is to deliver a fun but balanced recruiting experience that feels rewarding to all players. We will monitor the impacts these changes have on the overall recruiting experience and continue to adjust as needed."

■ Fixed an issue where you could not schedule visits for recruits in certain situations.

■ Fixed an issue where a visit remained scheduled even if a recruit was removed from a board.

■ Fixed an issue where the allowed the number of visits scheduled for a week to exceed 4.

■ Tuned Visit Influence effects:

● Removed initial influence when scheduling a visit.

● Increased disparity between winning and losing a game during a visit.

● Tuned the logic for game stakes to better account for ranked teams.

Increased the penalty for choosing a visit activity that the team does not have a high grade in or the player is not interested in.

○ Increased hand off rate for simulated RPOs to increase the number of running plays across the country, especially for teams with a lot of RPOs in their playbook.

○ Various tuning fixes to increase the gap between good and bad teams/players.

■ Dev Note: We are going to continue to monitor the simulation results to ensure that teams and players are performing within expected ranges, including reducing frequency of upsets, based on Pre-Season Projections and expected win totals.

○ Increased the loss penalty for schools with more than 1 loss.

○ Increased the weighing of Conference Prestige in the poll calculation.

○ Reduced variance in CFP poll logic vs Media/Coaches

■ Dev Note: As with the other systems mentioned above, we will continue to monitor the Polls system to ensure that it strikes a balance between realism and reward for player success.

● Custom Conferences/Custom Schedules Dev Note: We will continue to monitor feedback about Custom Conferences and Scheduling. Based on this feedback we plan to continue making adjustments in future title updates.

○ Fixed an issue in Conference Rules where Divisions were changed to off, even if those Divisions were previously turned on.

○ Fixed an issue where the Independents Tab disappeared when removing all teams from Independents

■ Dev Note: This also fixes issues with tabs to the right of Independents having incorrect or missing data.

○ Addressed UI issues around the Conference Title game for the CUSA and PAC-12

○ Addressed UI issues around Dynasty Team Select UI appropriately respecting Custom Conference moves

Updated text in the Team Header on the Custom Schedules Screen

ROAD TO GLORY

I've played Road to Glory more than any other mode. That wasn't by design, but I found myself wrapped up in the journey of a 2-star QB, and the rest is history.

While I was immersed in that experience for four seasons, a few issues stood out to me.

Many of them are addressed in the notes below, but a few weren't. I'd love to know why most CPU-controlled running backs have the vision of a star-nosed mole.

In case you're unaware, the star-nosed mole is an animal that is born blind.

It often feels like my running backs are completely incapable of seeing open holes, and because of this deficiency, they kill drives.

I don't see that issue addressed anywhere in the notes below.

"● Added an additional scenario and NIL content.

● Fixed rare issues where you'd get a scenario reward screen that did not align with your received bonuses.

● Fixed an issue where users were getting Skill Points maxed out after completing a practice.

● Fixed a crash when quitting a Position Battle.

● Reworked Wear and Tear UI to show position-appropriate ratings-impacts.

● Fixed an issue where you cannot equip a Mental Ability during the RTG Player creation flow if you enter a settings menu during creation.

● Fixed an issue where Meter Mental Progress is not tracked during Bye Weeks.

● Fixed an issue where it is impossible to lose Coach Trust once you reach max Coach Trust.

● Fixed a UI issue related to the display of Coach Trust when a user is close to max Coach Trust.

● Fixed an issue where you cannot Upgrade your player during Bye Weeks.

● Fixed a UI issue related to the display of Weekly Energy in the Meters Screen.

● Fixed issues with Mental Goals not tracking correctly or reaching Platinum correctly.

● Fixed UI issues around Text Messages.

● Fixed an issue where backing out of the Team Selection step in RTG Creation can soft lock the mode.

● Fixed an issue where a player can continue to work on Academics after graduating early."

COLLEGE FOOTBALL ULTIMATE TEAM

Ultimate Team has received few complaints, which explains why EA's list of changes focuses primarily on minor fixes and visual tuning.

Here are all of the Ultimate Team changes.

"● Generating 'Best Lineup' no longer changes your equipped visuals and playbook.

● Player Portraits will no longer appear on non-player items after filtering or sorting.

Fixed a crash that occurred during kicking off at halftime when playing Champs.

● Attributes on the front of Player Items should update correctly after a Player Item has been upgraded.

● Fixed an issue that was occurring when highlighting the Rename Team tile on the UT Hub.

● Fixed an issue with Squads 3v3 that prevented 2 users from being able to connect to the game.

● Fixed an issue with the Orientation Pack that was preventing new users from being able to upgrade their lineup and progress through the Orientation Field Pass.

● Fixed an issue on the Player Profile Screen that prevented users from being able to transition within the Profile selections.

● Removed the Green Gavel icon that appeared on owned items placed on the Auction House.

● Fixed a crash with House Rules: Touchdown Tango that triggered when the play clock reached 0.

● Player Items displayed on the New Items Screen no longer appear transparent when not highlighted.

● When viewing Challenge Details, the yardage marker is now displayed within the Conditions.

● On the Lineup Screen names of players in backup slots contributing to Chemistry should change in scale when highlighting a Chemistry boost.

● Improved UI around Attributes that are receiving chemistry boosts when viewing the Attributes tab of the Item Detail screen.

● Fixed issue that was causing long load transitions on the New Item Screen during the First Time User Experience.

● The Difficulty star for Challenges now displays correctly when scrolling down the Play Co-op List.

● Fixed an issue that was causing users to error out to the Main Hub when trying to access the Auction House.

● Conference Filters in the Auction House now work correctly.

● Fixed stability issues for users entering Ultimate Team for the first time."

PRESENTATION

Who doesn't love new uniforms?

EA added several new uniforms, including Vanderbilt's all-white.

● Added new uniform pieces for Baylor, Oregon, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Bowling Green, Northwestern, UTEP, Boise State, New Mexico State, App State, Texas State, Louisiana, New Mexico, and South Alabama.

● Adjusted uniform pieces for 2024 season: TCU, Arkansas, Missouri, Baylor

● Various improvements made to teams' uniform pieces for authenticity

● Updates have been made to the following stadiums:

○ Holiday Bowl ○ Texas State ○ Kansas ○ Kennesaw State ○ Oklahoma State ○ Wake Forest ○ UL-Monroe ○ Nebraska

● Fixed an Issue where the USC Mascot would disappear during the opening ceremony.

● Fixed an Issue where the incorrect mascot would appear during different situations.

● Restored opening chants for Penn State, FSU, and Tennessee on Xbox Series S.

ROAD TO CFP

The gameplay enhancements will dramatically benefit Road to CFP. The mode is fine structurally, and that's why there aren't very many changes to it specifically.

Here is the only bullet point.

● Tier Rebalancing and Reconstruction changing the format from 3 tiers to 5 tiers.

We want you to feel as though you’re earning, progressing and building your Ultimate Team regardless of how you play. Also, we know MUT can feel daunting for new players. That’s why we’ve focused on streamlining your experience with some changes throughout Ultimate Team we think you’re going to love. Lastly, we know how much you loved the amount of MUT content in Madden NFL 24, so we’re going to deliver even more in Madden NFL 25: More seasons, more content .

Let’s dive in!

New Ways to Play

Madden 25 Ultimate Team Deep Dive Screen 9

So, you think you’re a Madden GOAT? Here’s where you prove it. Online Ranked Head-to-Head is a live service outside of Ultimate Team where you can make your mark across the Madden universe. Over a quarter of all of our Madden players play Online H2H. This year, to ramp up the competition and give you a tangible marker of your Madden skill, we’re bringing rankings into Online H2H. It’s just as it sounds – you win, you climb the rankings. Each win earns you Rank Points. As you rank up, you’ll make your way to Madden legend status. You’ll see exactly where you are on the leaderboard and climb H2H Divisions as you rank up. Want to solidify your spot atop the best of the best? Legend Rank is an exclusive club for the Top 100 Online H2H Madden players in the world!

In Madden NFL 25, Online H2H has received upgraded matchmaking! Also, break out your snow boots, we’re adding the much-requested ability to select time of day and weather. Both players will be able to choose their preference but the match will use the settings of whoever is selected as the home team.

Online H2H will lay the foundation to have more live service updates throughout the year. Each season will provide its own Ranked event with a new opportunity to achieve top dog status and prove your skills.

Madden Ultimate Team Ranked

The H2H Hub is your home for ranked, Head-to-Head MUT play. You’ll now see, clearly displayed, your persistent rank amongst the best as well as the division you’re in. With improved matchmaking, winning matters more than ever because ranked points can only be earned by victories. With ranked mode, we’re using our divisions technology to create an experience unique to the Ultimate Team player. The divisions system provides you with a long-term goal to climb the ranks, make your way to the top, and earn the best rewards in Ultimate Team along the way. Keep grinding once you get to Legend rank, because the Top 100 players at the end of each session earn themselves an auctionable player item!

Weekend Gauntlet

Ready to test your MUT lineup and stick work against the best of the best? Weekend Gauntlet is here, giving you a place to earn high value rewards when you win. You’ll earn Gauntlet-Exclusive player rewards after 10 wins, but stay locked in, because two losses and it’s game over. Qualify for the Weekend Gauntlet by winning 16 MUT Champs games from the past week or with coins. With Weekend Gauntlet we’re trying to bring back the community spectacle element by celebrating and rewarding the most competitive MUT players out there while also providing an arena for the best players to compete against each other. Season One will have two Gauntlet-Exclusive player item rewards. These items are earned after achieving 10 wins in a single run. There will also be 500 Limited versions of these two player items that have more ability power for the first 500 players to 10 wins! All Weekend Gauntlet games are five minute quarters, All-Madden difficulty. We’re looking forward to these being some of the most competitive games of the MUT week!

6-on-6 Events

We’ll be introducing some 6-on-6 events this year! These events will let you compete in small-sided 6-on-6 football, a totally new way to play with your existing Ultimate Team roster. You’ll take on solo challenges that will have you reconsider how to best utilize your squad. We anticipate this being a more approachable format for MUT beginners as well as a new, fun experience for the MUT veterans. You’ll have more open field, more space to see a route develop and hit the right read. Stay tuned for more information, we anticipate the first event coming this Fall.

Solo Seasons

Some of our most avid MUT gamers rarely play head-to-head against other players. This year, we’re introducing more robust solo experiences for our offline players. Online H2H seasons mode is now available for offline players! Players will enter solo seasons, play an entire solo season, make the playoffs and eventually make the Super Bowl all against AI opponents. You’ll even be able to move up and down divisions with an escalating difficulty curve, just like in Head-to-Head Seasons. Truly endless play for solo players allowing them to have full competitive games without having to wait for the next content drop.

New Challenge Types

Introducing… Epic Challenges! New to Ultimate Team in Madden NFL 25, these solo challenges are not for the faint of heart. The challenges demand a strong coaching sense and an impeccable playcalling strategy. Only the most dedicated users will be able to conquer these grueling tasks. Time to test your stick skills!

Now a permanent fixture, Gridiron Forge challenges are back! Gridiron Forge challenges are quick challenges that escalate in difficulty. New ones will be added all year long.

Streamlined Experience

Madden 25 Ultimate Team Deep Dive Game Screen

Refreshed MUT Presentation

You spend all year building your ideal lineup. Well, you deserve to show that lineup off! In Madden NFL 25, we’ve refreshed the in-game MUT presentation. You’ll see your stars standing up front-and-center prior to kickoff of your game. This is our first step in providing you with opportunities to better celebrate what you accomplish!

New Lineup Experience

Ultimate Team has always been part football simulation and part deck building. In Madden NFL 25 we are streamlining that deck building experience, making it as easy and as fun to use as the in-game experience. For starters, your lineup screen will now suggest improvements and show you how they impact your team’s overall rating. This includes strategy items! You can now easily see, when you equip a strategy item, which players are being impacted by the strategy item without having to transition screens. One pain point we know you felt in lineups was setting your depth charts after a substitution. This year in MUT, you’ll be able to drag and drop player items across your lineup! The goal here is to make your lineup-setting experience as quick and easy as possible, allowing you more room for experimentation. Looking for a specific Theme Team? Building the best 6-on-6 lineup? Lineup customization will be easier than ever. We’re looking forward to seeing you get in the lab and experiment, unleashing the power of many lineup combinations!

We’ll make setting your 6-on-6 lineups easy, too. 6-on-6 positions are designated in your existing lineup. For example, you’ll see a “6-on-6” tag on your QB1’s item in your lineup. This means you’ll be able to jump into the 6-on-6 gameplay without having to manage two separate lineups. If you’d rather manage two lineups, you can save a different 6-on-6 lineup, the option is yours.

More Seasons, More Content

In Madden NFL 23 we had five seasons. In Madden NFL 24 we had seven seasons. Madden NFL 25 will have eight program-filled seasons!

Last year you loved the amount of content we released, especially late in the season, after the Super Bowl. We released more than 50 unique Ultimate Team programs, each one bringing new ways to build your Ultimate Team. We’re going to provide even more programming in Madden NFL 25. We’re determined to keep that momentum going. As long as our players are enjoying the content we’re putting out, we’re going to keep creating new experiences. We want Madden to feel fresh and rewarding 52 weeks a year.

Dev Note: We re-visited every single MUT program from Madden NFL 24. In doing so, we re-worked some fan favorites and developed new ones to keep things fresh throughout the year. Stay tuned!

In summary, we’re beyond excited for you to enjoy new ways to play Madden Ultimate Team in Madden NFL 25 – whether you play competitively, solo or both. We’re looking forward to seeing your powerful lineup customization with a refreshed, streamlined presentation. And of course, we’ll be delivering rewarding, meaningful experiences every week, all the way up until the launch of Madden NFL 26. See you on the sticks!
