Creating a self-running PowerPoint, as Microsoft calls it, can be a great addition to your company’s booth at conventions or industry-wide conferences. By featuring photos, infographics and key points in a continuous loop, PowerPoint becomes an effective communication tool to inform others about your company, its goals, and your products or services.

Auto-playing presentations are also great for employee training , meetings where the speaker is absent, and reaching remote clients or customers. Microsoft provides easy steps to turn your PowerPoint into an autoplay presentation.

How to create a self-running PowerPoint presentation

Set up the presentation.

There are several options for creating a PowerPoint presentation automatically. All of these are accessible under the Slide Show tab.

Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show

There are three options under this menu:

  • Presented by a speaker: This first option requires the viewer to click through each slide. This is the default setting that most PowerPoint presentations are already in and is the mode with which you’re likely most familiar.
  • Browsed by an individual: This option will create a slideshow where the viewer cannot control when slides advance. This is an autoplay feature, but the viewer will still have to hit Play to get it started.
  • Browsed at a kiosk: Once selected, this option will loop the slideshow until a viewer presses the escape button.

If you don’t want your viewers to have access to when the slideshow starts and stops, select the third option. The Loop Continuously option underneath will automatically remain selected.

Set the slide timing

Before you begin recording your presentation, it’s important to set the slide time using the rehearsal toolbar. This will give you an idea of how long each slide will run before advancing to the next one. It will also allow you to practice your presentation and understand how long the run time will be. Like setting up the slideshow, you can access this window via the Slide Show tab.

Slide Show > Rehearse Timings

The recording window allows users to advance to the next slide, pause the presentation, view the current slide’s time, restart the recording for a slide and view the total run time of the presentation.

After recording the last slide, PowerPoint will ask whether you want to keep the slide timings.

Record the presentation

Once you’ve set your slide timings, you can record your slideshow.

Navigate to Slide Show > Record Slide Show to begin your recording. Click End Show and save your file once you’ve finished recording. After saving, your presentation is ready to be sent to clients or customers, uploaded to YouTube , or played at your convention or conference booth.

Here are some quick tips to check before recording your presentation:

  • Prior to recording, make sure you adjust the Play Narrations and the Use Timings checkboxes.
  • If you want all narration and slide transitions included, be sure to check both boxes.
  • To create a silent sequence of slides, make sure the Play Narrations button remains deselected.

Step 1: Apply transitions to automatically advance slides during a slide show

Transitions occur between slides when you run a slide show.

To apply transitions to automatically advance slides during a slide show:

  • In Normal View or Slide Sorter View, display or select a slide.
  • Click the Transitions tab in the Ribbon.
  • Select a transition in the Transitions gallery (such as Fade).
  • Click Effect Options and choose the desired option. Effect Options change depending on the transition you selected.
  • In the Timing group, click the arrows beside Duration to set the timing you want (in seconds) for the transition. You may also type a duration.
  • In the Timing group, under Advance Slides, deselect or uncheck On mouse click and beside After, select or click the up and down arrows to set the timing to transition to the next slide. You may also type a duration.
  • In the Timing group, click Apply to All.

Step 2: Set up a presentation to loop during a slide show

To set up a PowerPoint presentation to loop during a slide show:

  • Click the Slide Show tab in the Ribbon and then click Set Up Slide Show. A dialog box appears.
  • Under Show type, if you select Presented by a speaker (full screen), the speaker or those watching the slide show will have control over when they advance slides. This is the default setting for slide shows. If you select Browsed by an individual (window), those watching the slide show do NOT have control over when slides advance. If you select Browsed at kiosk (full screen), those watching the slide show do NOT have control over when slides advance and the presentation automatically loops until those watching press Escape (Esc).
  • Under Show options, select Loop continuously until 'Esc'. You will be able to select this option if you selected one of the first two options under Show type.

Set up your slideshow to be looped, apply automatic slide transitions.

Slideshows are sometimes used to display images at events, such as weddings or trade shows. Whatever the occasion might be, you’ll want to loop your PowerPoint presentation so your guests aren’t staring at a blank screen. Here’s how it’s done.

First, open your PowerPoint presentation in which you would like to loop. Once open, navigate to the “Set Up” group of the “Slide Show” tab and then select the “Set Up Slide Show” button.

The “Set Up Show” window will appear. In the “Show options” group, check the box next to “Loop Continuously until Esc.” Once selected, click “OK” in the bottom-right corner of the window.

Now, when you play your slideshow, it will end only when you press the “Esc” key instead of when you've finished the last slide.

One caveat: With the way we currently have it set up, the slideshow will proceed only when someone clicks the mouse button. That’s fine if there will be a speaker present at all times. Otherwise, you’ll need to set up automatic slide transitions.

Head back to the “Set Up Show” window by selecting “Set Up Slide Show” in the “Set Up” group of the “Slide Show” tab.

There are a couple of options you need to select, but one important note is that you must first select “Using Timings, If Present” under the “Advance Slides” group.

The next option we select will lock a few things in place (which is why you need to select “Using Timings, If Present” first).

Under the “Show Type” group, select “Browsed at a Kiosk (Full Screen)." The “Loop Continuously until Esc” option will be enabled automatically if you haven’t already turned it on, and the option you’ve selected under “Advance Slides” will remain unchanged.

Select “OK” when ready to proceed.

Without the “Browsed at a Kiosk” option enabled, the automatic slide progressions would be disabled if someone were to press the Back key. With it enabled, the Forward and Back keys are locked, allowing the slideshow to automatically progress unattended without fear of someone breaking it.

Now it’s time to set the timings of the slides. Head over to the “Transitions” tab. In the “Timing” group, check the box next to “After” and set the timing at which you’d like each slide to progress. Note that it doesn’t matter if the box next to “On Mouse Click” is checked or not---it won’t work.

After that, select the “Apply to All” option in the same group.

Now, when you play your slideshow, it will continuously loop without interruption. To exit the slideshow, press the “Esc” button.

Okay, so you have this big event coming up and you need to showcase a company profile of your organisation at a kiosk. You have the company presentation but you are wondering, “How the heck am I going to turn my PPT into a self running presentation that runs in a loop automatically?”

Don’t worry, this is exactly what we are going to learn today. Plus, we share some of the most useful and important tips that you should remember while displaying a PowerPoint presentation for a kiosk. This will ensure that you have a presentation that almost always runs like a video!

But first, can you loop a PowerPoint presentation? Yes, you can definitely loop a PowerPoint presentation. To do this, we’ll need to make all our slides auto advance from to the next slide using the “Transition” tab, and then switching our PPT to the kiosk display mode in PowerPoint such that it runs automatically in a loop.

Let’s learn a bit more about it.

How to Loop your PowerPoint Presentation?

In order to ensure that the presentation plays in a loop, we will have to carry out this procedure in two steps. The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that your presentation shows the next slide automatically when put it slide show mode. Once you have done this, the next step would be to ensure that your presentation jumps back to the first slide when it is done displaying all the slides in your PPT. Doing so will make sure that your presentation continuously keeps playing in a loop.

It is not important to follow steps 1 and 2 in the same order as mentioned below. This means you can also complete step 2 first and then complete step 1. However, it is important that you carry out both the steps in order to achieve the desired result. So, let’s look at both the steps in detail below –

Step 1 – Make a presentation self-running

One of the key steps to ensure that your presentation runs in a loop automatically, is to make sure that it is self-running. The last thing that you would want to do is to manually click to proceed to the next slide for the whole day!

Making your presentation self-running is pretty simple.

Simply open the presentation that you would like to convert into a automatically running PPT. Click on any one slide from the presentation. Go to the “Transition” tab and click on it.

As a next step, make sure you uncheck the “on mouse click” box, and select the “After” option by clicking on the check box. This will ensure that your presentation now shows the next slide after a certain number of seconds rather than a mouse/keyboard click.

Once you have done that, just input the number of seconds that you would like PowerPoint to spend on each slide. I recommend putting a value in the range of 3-5 seconds based on my prior experience. However, I would also suggest that you do a bit of trial and error before finalising the exact number of seconds that work for your presentation.

Once you have identified exactly how many seconds you would like PowerPoint to spend on each slide, make sure to click on “Apply to All”. This will ensure that the transition setting of this slide is applied to every single slide in your presentation.

Note – If you have different transitions setting already set up for each slide, then, instead of clicking on “Apply to All”, make sure that you have selected all the slides by clicking on any one slide in the slide view section and then pressing “Ctrl +A” (or Command + A for Mac).

Step 2 – Loop your PPT by putting it in Kiosk Mode

Once you have made sure that your presentation is self-running, the next step to make sure that your presentation runs in loop.

Just like the first step, this is also quite easy. Let’s have a look –

First, you need to click on the “Slide Show” option in the Menu Bar. On the ribbon, you need to then click on “Set Up Slide Show”. What this option does is allows you to set up how you would like to PowerPoint to play your slide show when running in full screen (or slide show mode).

When you click on the Set Up Slide Show option, a window with multiple options will pop-up on the screen. Under the “Show Options”, identify and select “Loop continuously until Esc”. This basically means that once this option is selected, PowerPoint will loop your slide until you press the “Esc” or the Escape key on your keyboard.

You might also notice the “Browsed at a Kiosk” option under the “Show Type” option on the same pop-up window. This option also does exactly the same thing of looping the PowerPoint slides continuously. Thus, you could also select this option.

Next, just click “Okay” to confirm. Your slides will now loop endlessly automatically until the escape button is pressed on the keyboard. You can try and check if the presentation runs as desired by putting the presentation in slide show mode. The shortcut for that is Shift + Command + Return key on your keyboard for Mac users and F5 for Windows users (Shift + F5 for slide show from current slide)

Can I Loop a Presentation with a Video in it?

That is a great question that many of you might have especially when there is a supporting video or a testimonial or a product review that you want your audience coming to the kiosk to notice.

You can definitely make a PowerPoint presentation run in a loop even when you have a video in the presentation. However, you need to make sure that the video is not on YouTube or any other external location, it needs to be added on the PowerPoint slide.

You can add the video to your PowerPoint presentation by clicking on “Insert”, then selecting “Video” on the insert ribbon. PowerPoint will then ask you to browse to the location of your video file. Do that, select the video from your local hard disk, and click “Okay”. You should have the video inserted on your slide. Alternatively, you can also copy the video from a from the folder in which the video is located, open the target slide on which you need the video to be embedded, and paste it.

Things to keep in mind while looping a presentation with a video file – 

  • Make sure that the video is present on the local computer hard disk and not as an online resource
  • Ensure that the slide on which the video has been added also has self-running enabled as explained in “Step – 1” above.

Can I loop just a few Specific Slides of a PPT Presentation?

There might be times when you don’t want to run the complete PowerPoint presentation a loop. Instead, you just want to repeat just a few slides from the presentation. So, can this be done? Absolutely Yes!

Putting a few specific slides in a loop is as easy as looping the complete presentation. The process is similar to the two steps mentioned above.

However, do keep a few things to keep in mind – 

  • Only consecutive slides can loop – When putting a few specific slides in a loop instead of the complete presentation, the slides in question should all be together. This means, you could choose to put slides 1, 2, 3 & 4 or slides 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 because they are all consecutive slides. However, slides 2, 5, 7, 9 can’t be put in a loop as they are not consecutive slides. To solve this problem, you can create a copy of all the slides that you want to loop at the end of presentation, and put them in a loop. 
  • Apply Step 1 & 2 to only specific slides – Before beginning the steps 1 & 2 mentioned above, make sure that you have selected the specific slides that you wish to loop and not the complete presentation.
  • DO NOT click “Apply to All” after step 1 – Ensure that you DO NOT click on “Apply to All” at the end of step 1 as this will make sure that the transition settings that you have selected will be applied to all your slides.

At the end of step 2, after you have selected “Loop continuously until Esc” and right before clicking OK, make sure to enter the specific slide numbers that you would like PowerPoint to loop. Remember – the slides that you want to loop should be consecutive slides.

What are Some Other Uses of a Presentation running in a Loop?

Making your PowerPoint presentation run automatically in a loop can be useful in situations more than one. The most obvious need to run a presentation continuously is when you are at a kiosk (for e.g. at an event representing your company). But there are some often other times when you feel the need to loop a presentation. I’m sharing some of the other situations when you might need to loop a PowerPoint presentation below –

1. At a Marketing Roadshow –

There are times when your company decides to generate awareness about a new product they are going to launch. One of the methods deployed is to hire a vehicle (with or without an open back), play some visuals accompanied with some audio and distribute a one page flyer to its potential customers. The marketing effort can be more detailed at times, however, the visual that often supports such a campaign can often be a presentation that needs to run continuously without interruption.

2. At a Sales Centre –

Another great use case for a continuous looping presentation. When you visit a sales centre/showroom of a company – a real estate company or even a vehicle showroom, you may notice a presentation playing in such an office. This is often because the customers who walk in may have questions about the product or offering and having a beautiful looping presentation can grab the attention of a customer.

3. Reception/Cafeteria of a company –

Often, various companies use a looping presentation to share more information about the company to its visitors or employees. You may notice a presentation that plays in a loop at the company reception giving information about the company or even at your cafeteria telling you about a new employee initiative taken up by the company. These are all great examples where a presentation running automatically in a loop can be useful.

By default, PowerPoint saves your slide presentation as a PowerPoint presentation file with the .pptx file extension which, when double-clicked, launches PowerPoint. The presentation opens in whatever view was open when you saved it, such as the Normal view or Slide Sorter view. If you want your slide show to immediately launch in the Slide Show view, however, you need to save your file as a PowerPoint Show. To Save a PowerPoint Presentation as a PowerPoint Show:

  • Choose the  File  tab.
  • Select  Save As .
  • Pick the  Save as type  as  PowerPoint Show .
  • Type a name for your slide show in the  File name  text box (you can use the same name and location as your .pptx/presentation file) and click  Save . Your PowerPoint slide show file is saved with a .ppsx extension.

Now, the next time you or anyone else opens your presentation from outside of PowerPoint, your slide show immediately launches in Slide Show view. When you navigate past the last slide, the file automatically closes. To open the file for editing, launch PowerPoint first and open it as you would a standard presentation. If you have access to the original presentation, you may prefer to open the .pptx file to edit and save it again as a slide show file. Most importantly, make sure to manage your files, so you are working with the most current version.

PowerPoint Presentation Tips

BONUS TIP:  When I save my presentations as a PowerPoint Show, I save the file to my desktop for easy access during speaking and training engagements. If needed, I can also quickly close and re-open the file without launching PowerPoint and without showing everyone all of my slides. Working with a PowerPoint Show also saves a number of steps because it automatically launches with a simple double-click of the mouse.

To move to a specific slide in a presentation while in the slide show view (as either a presentation or show format), just type the slide number and press  [Enter] . To make these moves easier, print out a handout of your presentation, which includes slide numbers of each slide for quick navigation. Or, create a simple manual cheat sheet to reference when you want to jump to different slides.

BONUS TIP #2: In addition to saving PowerPoint shows to my desktop, I also add a generic slide to the beginning. For instance, a slide with your organization logo or simply a black slide. Although this may not apply to your presentations, I often navigate in and out of my slide show as I am also demonstrating software features and facilitating discussions within my training classes and conference sessions. With a generic or simple slide at the start, I can launch the slide show with a neutral, blank slide and then use the keyboard shortcut to type the slide number and press [Enter]  to move to a specific slide within the presentation.

Creating a Self-Running Slideshow in PowerPoint

Most people use PowerPoint in meetings and they talk (a lot) while they have a PowerPoint slide show running in the background. They use a mouse or presentation remote to advance to the next slide for the next message.

But our audience are people looking at digital signage or information screens and then there is nobody to advance to the next slide. For our purpose of information delivery on television screens, we need self-running presentations!

This article will describe the options, and settings to get to a self-running and ever-running presentation for digital signage, created in PowerPoint.

PowerPoint Transitions between Slides

Not a real must but we recommend to choose a given transition between slides. In PowerPoint you have transitions and animations. Transitions are animation effects that you see when you advance from one slide to another. Animations in PowerPoint are the effects that you set on specific shapes to emphasize its movement or importance.

Without transitions and animations, a presentation is considered boring and slide advancing is sometimes barely visible. With PowerPoint transitions and animations, a message or presentation is more looking like a video. Just one piece of advice with transitions; use a consistent transition that you use on all slides. Use a smooth transition effect. Never use a random or complex transition effect that is too overwhelming.

To choose a transition effect, select your slide and click the Transitions option from the PowerPoint ribbon. E.g. select the Push transition. Open the Effect Options at the right of the transitions list and choose e.g. the more natural From Right . Preview the transition immediately. Now set an effect for every slide of your presentation.

PowerPoint Advance Slides

Digital signage presentations are mostly self-running presentations like a channel on television. By default, PowerPoint presentations advance manually so, you have to use a mouse to click on the presentation. A mouse click instructs PowerPoint that the current slide is over and that the presenter wants to move to the next slide or message.

To change the advance options, look again at the Transitions menu. At the right, you will find the Timing group with Advance Slide settings. Uncheck the On Mouse Click option. Then check the After option and set a time. Set this value to 00:12.00 when you want to show this slide for 12 seconds. You can check and set a different time for every individual slide. Or just click the Apply To All buttons.

1. Open the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation that you want to loop.

2. With your PowerPoint presentation open, click on the "Slide Show" tab, then click on "Set Up Slide Show." 

3. In the pop-up window that appears, click on the box next to "Loop continuously until 'Esc'" so that a small checkmark appears inside the box. Feel free to adjust any other settings in this menu as well. Click "OK" when you're finished.

4. To test whether your PowerPoint can loop successfully, click on the "From Beginning" or "Play From Start" button in the Slide Show tab. Click through the slideshow until you reach the end. When your PowerPoint reaches its final slide, it should start over from the beginning automatically. When you're confident that looping is enabled, and you're ready to close the slide show, press the Esc key.

From Microsoft's list of command line switches , you can use the /S switch to start a presentation:

To get the slideshow to start on boot-up create a shortcut to the path given above and put it in the Startup folder in the Start menu.

you can also rename the file to pps or ppsx. this should make the presentation go immediately in presentation mode.

How do I set a Powerpoint presentation to start automatically when opened?

Once you have completed a presentation in Powerpoint, you can save it as a PowerPoint Show.

This means your audience will see the slide show run when they open the file, rather than seeing the slides in edit mode.

  • With your presentation open, click  File ,  Save as .
  • Name your presentation, and then click the  Save as type  dropdown menu underneath.

How to auto execute a macro when opening a Powerpoint presentation?

I have a pretty basic question, but could not find the answer on internet. In Powerpoint 2010, I have a macro that I would like to be executed everytime the Powerpoint document is opened. How to achieve this ? Thanks !

While Auto_Open doesn't run in a PowerPoint presentation, you can fake it. Add a CustomUI part to the presentation, then use the CustomUI OnLoad callback to run code when the presentation opens. The CustomUI part needs no more than just the CustomUI tags.

Open the presentation in the Custom UI Editor. Insert a CustomUI part from the Insert menu:

I am using PowerPoint 2016 so I can't speak for earlier versions although the documentation indicates this works for PowerPoint versions 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007. This method DOES NOT require any add-ins or application hooks to handle events.

Start PowerPoint from command line and use the /M switch to have PowerPoint run a specified macro when it starts a named presentation file.

The easiest way to do this is to create a shortcut to the PowerPoint application. Then go to the Properties window for the shortcut and select the Shortcut tab. Next, add the /M switch, your presentation file name (including path), and the name of the macro to run (case sensitive and must be part of the presentation) to the end of the Target field. Double-click the shortcut and voila!

Example: My presentation is C:\myPPTpres.pptm and the macro is Run_Slide_Show so I will need to add /M "C:\myPPTpres.pptm" "Run_Slide_Show" to the end of the existing text in the Target field.

Make sure you are running a macro-enabled version of the presentation (in 2016 it has the .pptm extension.)

Important note if you are trying to start a slide show automatically using the macro. Add a delay of one or more seconds at the very beginning of your macro to allow the application to finish its startup sequence. If you do not the slideshow will start but the application will steal focus as it completes its startup, pushing your slideshow to the background.

Assuming the type of macro to be Auto Events related such as Auto_open(), Auto_close(), Auto_print() etc., for powerpoint to execute macros on opening powerpoint file we require Powerpoint Add-Ins to be included or other option could be to save the file as .ppa or .ppam.

Manage email messages by using rules in Outlook

Use rules to automatically perform specific actions on email that arrives in your inbox. For example, you can create rules that will change the importance level of messages as they come in, automatically move them to other folders, or delete them based on certain criteria.

Select a tab option below for the version of Outlook you're using. What version of Outlook do I have?

Note:  If the steps under this New Outlook  tab don't work, you may not be using new Outlook for Windows yet. Select the Classic Outlook tab and follow those steps instead.

In new Outlook, you have the option to:

Create a rule  |   Edit a rule  |   Delete a rule  |   Set rule order  |   Run rules   |  Disable rules

Create an inbox rule for new Outlook for Windows

Rules are applied to incoming messages and can be created from any folder.

To quickly create a rule that moves all email from a specific sender or a set of senders to a folder, right-click a message in your message list that you want to create a rule for, hover over Rules  and then select Create rule .

Choose the folder where you want all messages from that sender or set of senders to be moved, and then select OK .

After selecting  OK , the rule will be applied to all incoming messages.

If you'd like to do more than just move the message from a specific sender or set of senders to a folder, select More options . The rules settings menu will open.

Every rule needs at least three things: a name, a condition, and an action. Rules can also contain exceptions to conditions. You can add multiple conditions, actions, and exceptions at each step by choosing Add a condition , Add an action , and Add an exception .

If you don't want any more rules to run after this one does, select the Stop processing more rules check box. For more information, see Stop processing more rules in Outlook .

Press Save to create your rule or Discard to cancel rule creation.

At the top of the page, select Settings   .

Select Mail > Rules .

Note:  Some rules created in classic Outlook can't be processed by new Outlook because they are client-side rules. To fix a rule that was migrated from classic Outlook, create a new rule to replace it.

Tip:  If you just want to turn the rule off for a while, select the toggle next to the rule.

Set the order in which inbox rules are applied to incoming messages in new Outlook for Windows

Inbox rules are applied to incoming messages based on the order they're in within the Inbox rules list. You can arrange the order in which the rules you create are applied to messages coming into your inbox.

Select a rule, and then use the Up arrow or Down arrow to change the order in which the rule is applied to incoming messages.

By default, an inbox rule runs on incoming messages after you've created the rule. To run a rule on existing messages:

If you'd like to temporarily pause, or suspend, a rule from operating and you don't want to delete it, consider disabling the rule. To disable or enable a rule:

Use the toggle to disable or enable a rule.

In classic Outlook, you have the option to:

Create a rule on a message in classic Outlook for Windows

Right-click an existing message and select Rules > Create Rule .

Select a condition, and what to do with the message based on the condition.

For example, to move messages with a certain title to a specific folder, select the Subject contains condition, select Move the item to folder , select or create a New folder, and then select OK .

When you're done creating the rule, select OK.

To use the rule right away, select the Run this new rule now on messages already in the current folder checkbox, and then select OK .

The message now appears in that folder.

Create a rule from a template in classic Outlook for Windows

Select File > Manage Rules & Alerts > New Rule .

Select a template.

For example, to flag a message:

Select Flag messages from someone for follow-up .

Edit the rule description.

Select an underlined value, choose the options you want, and then select OK .

Select Next .

Select the conditions, add the relevant information, and then select OK .

Finish the rule setup.

Name the rule, setup rule options, and review the rule description. Click an underlined value to edit.

Select Finish .

Certain rules will only run when Outlook is on. If you get this warning, select OK .

If you’ve set rules to organize your incoming mail but they’re not all working as you expect them to, these steps might help you find and fix the problem.

To fix a broken rule:

Click File > Manage Rules & Alerts .

If you see a message that says you have a broken rule that needs to be modified, click OK.

Check the box next to the rule in red.

Click the links under Rule description and edit the rule as needed, and then click OK .

To change the settings, name, location or behavior of a rule:

Check the box next to the rule that you want to modify.

Click Change Rule , click the type of change you want to make, and then complete the steps.

Note:  To delete a rule, in the Rules and Alerts dialog, check the box next to the rule, and then click Delete .

You can delete a rule when it's no longer necessary.

On the File tab, choose Manage Rules & Alerts .

In the Rules and Alerts dialog box, on the E-mail Rules tab, choose the rule you want to delete.

Tip:  To temporarily suspend a rule, clear the check box next to the rule. This enables you to keep the rule and turn it on later.

Run rules manually in classic Outlook for Windows

You can manually run one or more rules.

On the File tab, choose Manage Rules & Alerts , and on the E-mail Rules tab, choose Run Rules Now .

In the Run Rules Now box, under Select rules to run , select the check box for each rule that you want to run.

In the Run in Folder box, to select a different folder, choose Browse , choose the folder, and then choose OK .

Select the Include subfolders check box to include all folders under the folder you chose in step 3.

In the Apply rules to list, accept the default setting of all messages, or change to read or unread messages.

Choose Run Now .

In Outlook on the web, you have the option to:

Create a rule  |   Edit a rule  |   Delete a rule  |   Change rules order   |  Disable rules

Select Mail . Then under Mail , select Rules .

Type a name for the inbox rule in the Name your rule box and then select a condition and action from their respective drop-down lists. You can add additional conditions or actions by selecting Add a condition or Add an action .

Add exceptions to the inbox rule by selecting Add exception and then choosing one from the Add exception menu.

By default, the Stop processing more rules option is turned on. With this option on, when a message arrives in your inbox that meets the criteria for more than one rule, only the first rule will be applied. If you don't select this check box, all inbox rules that a message meets the criteria for will be applied.

You might have created a rule to forward or redirect messages you receive to another email address. If so, it's important to know the difference between forwarding and redirecting.

A forwarded message appears as a message you received and then forwarded to another recipient. When the recipient replies, the reply will go to the address the message was forwarded from.

A redirected message keeps the original sender on the From line. When a recipient that a message was redirected to replies, the reply will go to the original sender.

This is a transcript of Vice President Kamala Harris’s speech on Thursday night in which she formally accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination for the presidency.

OK, let’s get to business. Let’s get to business. All right.

So, let me start by thanking my most incredible husband, Doug. For being an incredible partner to me, an incredible father to Cole and Ella, and happy anniversary, Dougie. I love you so very much.

To our president, Joe Biden. When I think about the path that we have traveled together, Joe, I am filled with gratitude. Your record is extraordinary, as history will show, and your character is inspiring. And Doug and I love you and Jill, and are forever thankful to you both.

And to Coach Tim Walz. You are going to be an incredible vice president. And to the delegates and everyone who has put your faith in our campaign, your support is humbling.

So, America, the path that led me here in recent weeks was, no doubt, unexpected. But I’m no stranger to unlikely journeys. So, my mother, our mother, Shyamala Harris, had one of her own. And I miss her every day, and especially right now. And I know she’s looking down smiling. I know that.

So, my mother was 19 when she crossed the world alone, traveling from India to California with an unshakable dream to be the scientist who would cure breast cancer.
