Working with Assignments
At least one category must exist before you can create assignments.
Your district may have set up assignment categories at the district level for you and other teachers, or your administrator may have selected categories for your classes. You can use these categories or you can create categories .
Consider how to score an assignment before setting up the assignment:
- Do you want to record the score as points, a percentage, or letter grade?
- How many points is the assignment worth?
- How do you want to weigh the assignment?
- Do you want to include the assignment in the final grade calculation?
Count in Final Grade
When you create an assignment, select Count in Traditional Final Grade if the assignment should be included in the traditional final grade calculation. The value set for a category is the default for all assignments within that category but can be overridden on an assignment-by-assignment basis.
Assignment setup includes the option to weight assignments. Weighting gives particular assignments more value than others when determining final grades. The weight value is used to multiply the points earned and the points possible.
Extra Points
You have the option to allow extra points for an assignment. PowerTeacher Pro takes the total sum of Points Possible and Extra Points to determine the maximum points available on the assignment. When entering the score on the Scoresheet , you cannot enter a value greater than the maximum score that displays in the Max Entry field on the Assignments window.
The maximum point value ((Points * Weighting) + Extra Points) for any assignment is 9,999 within PowerTeacher Pro.
Standards Based Grades
You can assign multiple standards to an assignment, which can be scored separately or auto-calculated from assignment scores.

You can copy from one assignment to another from the scoresheet. If you enter scores for the wrong assignment (source), you can copy the source assignment scores and paste them into the correct assignment score column (if the score type is the same).
Assignments that do not migrate will need to be recreated in PowerTeacher Pro. 1. View the assignment details in the Summary tab. 2. Find the failed assignments in PowerTeacher Gradebook. 3. Copy the values from PowerTeacher Gradebook into a new assignment in PowerTeacher Pro.
Step 1: In PowerTeacher Pro, click on “A+ Grading” in left-hand margin Step 2: Click the “cog” icon in the top right -hand corner to show drop-down menu and click “Copy Assignments”
