The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships — Doctoral (CGS D) program is to promote continued excellence in Canadian research by rewarding and retaining high-calibre doctoral students at Canadian institutions. By providing support for a high-quality research training experience to awardees, the CGS D program strives to foster impacts within and beyond the research environment.

The Canada Graduate Scholarships — Doctoral (CGS D) program is a federal program of scholarships administered by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Scholarships are awarded through national competitions by these three granting agencies.

The CGS D program supports and promotes research excellence in a wide variety of disciplines and broad fields of natural sciences and engineering, health and social sciences and humanities, including interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research. This support allows scholars to concentrate on their doctoral studies more fully, to seek out the best research mentors in their chosen fields and to contribute to the Canadian research ecosystem during and beyond the tenure of their awards.

In addition to the CGS D, each agency has its own doctoral awards.

For all three agencies, only one application must be completed and submitted to be considered for both a CGS D award and either an agency-specific doctoral award (for NSERC/SSHRC applications) or any available doctoral Priority Announcements (for CIHR applications). CGS D awards are then offered for the top-ranked eligible applications in each agency’s competition.

Some eligibility requirements for CGS D differ from those of the agency-specific doctoral awards. Refer to the appropriate literature for NSERC , CIHR and SSHRC for further details as well as information on doctoral awards tenable at foreign institutions.

To be eligible to apply, you must

• be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), as of the application deadline
• have completed no more than 24 months of full-time study in your doctoral program or the PhD portion of your joint professional undergraduate/PhD program (such as MD/PhD, JD/PhD, DVM/PhD) by December 31 of the calendar year of application if previously enrolled in a graduate program
• direct-entry applicants must be enrolled in their doctoral program at the time of application
• if you have not previously completed or enrolled in another graduate program, you must be enrolled in your joint MD/PhD program at the time of application
• if you fall into this category, you have access to the 36-month window whether or not you were previously enrolled in a master’s program

Note: If you are eligible to apply to the Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGS M) program, you may be able to maximize your potential period of funding by applying to the CGS M program for your first year of doctoral funding instead of the CGS D program. You are responsible for choosing the type of award for which you apply. See Other restrictions below for more information.

Number of months

Eligibility for CGS D is based on the number of months of full-time study, including summer months, toward the degree for which you are requesting funding by December 31 of the calendar year of application . Two terms of part-time study count as one term of full-time study.

Note: The agencies count all studies toward the doctoral degree for which funding is requested, whether or not they were completed at the degree-granting institution.

Fast-track and joint programs

Fast-track: If you were registered in a master’s program and subsequently transferred to a doctoral program (fast-track), the months of study completed are calculated starting from the date on which you transferred into the doctoral program.

Joint programs: If you are registered in a joint program and a master’s degree is obtained as part of the program (for example, MA/PhD, MSc/PhD), the months of study are calculated starting from the date on which you are officially registered in the joint program (including the master’s portion of the program).

If you are registered in a joint professional undergraduate/PhD program (such as MD/PhD, JD/PhD, DVM/PhD), only the months of study in the PhD portion will be counted.

Other restrictions

• You can submit a maximum of one scholarship or fellowship application per academic year to either NSERC, CIHR or SSHRC. Should more than one application be submitted, the eligible application submitted first chronologically will be retained. Nominations to the Vanier CGS program and applications to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program do not count toward this limit (other exceptions may apply to CIHR internships)
• You cannot have already received a doctoral-level scholarship from NSERC, CIHR or SSHRC (does not apply to CIHR Fellowships)
• You cannot hold a tenure or tenure-track appointment concurrently with your CGS D award

An eligible doctoral program must include a significant research component that leads to the completion of a thesis, major research project, dissertation, scholarly publication, performance, recital and/or exhibit that is merit/expert-reviewed at the institutional level as a requirement for completion of the program.

Joint programs with a professional degree (for example, MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD, MBA/PhD) as well as clinically oriented programs of study , including clinical psychology, are eligible if they have a significant autonomous research component as described above.

Selecting the appropriate agency

You should complete the agency application that is best aligned with your research subject matter to ensure that it is reviewed by experts in disciplines closest to your field(s) of study. For more information refer to Selecting the appropriate federal granting agency .

Incomplete applications may be rejected from the competition.

Where to submit an application

You must apply either through a Canadian institution or directly to the appropriate agency depending on your registration status at the application deadline date and/or your registration status in the calendar year of application. Failure to submit an application through the correct channel will result in your application being rejected .

To determine the correct channel, you must

• determine if an institution has a quota for your selected agency
• refer to the chart and supporting information in the Where should I submit my application? flowchart

If you are unsure of your registration status in the calendar year of application, contact your faculty of graduate studies (or its equivalent).

The term “quota” refers to the maximum number of applications an institution can forward to each agency’s national competition. Institutions receive separate quotas from each agency ( NSERC , CIHR and SSHRC ).

Institution deadlines

If you are applying through an institution, you must submit your application by the deadline set by the institution, which may be well in advance of the agency deadline.

Agency deadlines

If you are eligible to apply directly to one of the agencies (consult the Where should I submit my application? flowchart), you must submit your application using the appropriate agency application portal before 8:00 p.m. (ET) on October 17. If the deadline falls on a weekend, applications can be submitted the following business day before 8:00 p.m. (ET). Incomplete applications may be rejected.

Institutional review

The faculty of graduate studies (or its equivalent) at each Canadian institution is responsible for coordinating the institutional evaluation of CGS D applications. Institutions then submit applications according to their quotas for consideration to each agency.

Agency review

Agency selection committees review applications (whether sent directly to the agencies or via the institutions).

Institutions may recommend applications from self-identified Indigenous student researchers to the doctoral awards competition beyond their application quota. Self-identified Indigenous student researchers must agree to their personal information being used for this purpose by making the appropriate selection in the application form.

The Government of Canada has deployed additional funds to increase direct support for Black student researchers . CGS D applicants who self-identify as Black and provide consent to be considered for funds targeted towards specific groups may be selected to receive this funding. Each agency has a limited number of additional CGS D awards reserved for this initiative.

The evaluation of CGS D applications, whether by institutions or the agencies, is based on the following criteria:

In 2019, NSERC, CIHR and SSHRC, along with other Canadian research funding agencies, signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) . The agencies are committed to meaningful assessment of excellence in research funding and to ensuring that a wide range of research results and outcomes are considered and valued as part of the assessment process. They will continue work to ensure that their strategies, policies and guidance align with DORA.

Applicants whose applications were submitted to the agencies, whether directly or via their institution, will be notified of results by April 30.

The agencies will publish the names (and other basic award information) of scholarship recipients on their respective websites.

Canada scholarships promise a fully or partially funded path to study, work and build a life in one of the most popular countries in the world.

Official data from the Canadian Bureau for International Education showed more than  800,000 international students had active student visas in 2022, up from 275,000 in 2012.

McGill’s University offers merit-based entrance scholarships to first-time university students entering a full-time undergraduate degree programme.

4. University of Montreal

The University of Montreal (UdeM) is Canada’s second-largest university, boasting an enrollment of 36,000 students .

5. University of Toronto 

The University of Toronto is the fifth-best university in the world, according to the latest National Taiwan University Rankings .

One major admission award for undergraduates is the University of Toronto Scholars Programme,  valued at CA$7,500 .

Meanwhile, PhD students will receive a base funding package covering up to five years of their study period.

The Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (4YF)  is an excellent option for students pursuing a PhD. This programme guarantees that students with a track record of academic excellence will receive annual financial support of at least CA$18,200.

This scholarship is open to all international students and is ongoing based on admission.

This scholarship is intended for international doctoral students. An important contribution to the financing of their studies.

The information on this page is subject to change without notice and does not represent a commitment from the University of Ottawa.

As of May 2023

A value of $45,000 over five (5) years, the International Doctoral Scholarship supports  full-time international students, admitted in May 2023 or beyond, during their doctoral studies. A maximum value of $3,000 per term, for 15 consecutive terms, will be credited to the student account. Please note that the scholarship will only be paid if international tuition fees are charged.

Before May 2023

If you began your  full-time doctoral studies at uOttawa before May 2023  and you’ve received the International Doctoral Scholarship, your tuition fees are equivalent to those for Canadian students residing outside Ontario.

NB This scholarship cannot be combined with the Differential Tuition Fee Waiver or the Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship.

Tuition expenses of PhD in Canada vary by university and course but are often roughly twice as much as rates for Canadian students. It usually costs between 6,000 and 10,000 CAD (~3.51-5.86 lakh INR) a year , with some universities costing up to 40,000 CAD (~23.44 lakh INR) . Canadian universities provide a certain level of scholarships for international students in Canada based on their degree of study. This could include a tuition price waiver, stipend top-up, internship possibilities, research assistant, and teaching assistant opportunities, and could be partial or full financing.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD Scholarships in Canada

The majority of PhD programs in Canada require three years of full-time study and research. Following are the eligibility criteria for popular PhD scholarships in Canada.

Here is a complete list of PhD scholarships in Canada for 2022 available below for international students. Students learn research techniques, practical skills, presenting skills, and teaching skills in this program.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

This award is accessible to students in PhD and Master's programs in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Health, Social Sciences, or Humanities who can demonstrate leadership skills, as well as presentable research potential and high academic standards and achievements. For PhD degrees, the fellowship provides 50,000 CAD (~29.37 lakh INR) each year for three years.

The award is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and international students. The PhD scholarship research areas are health research, natural sciences and/or engineering sciences, and social sciences and humanities research.

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) has been a merit-based scholarship to the best graduate students in Ontario since 1975. The scholarship is jointly funded by the University of Toronto and the Province of Ontario. The value of the OGS is 5,000 CAD (~2.93 lakh INR)  per annum ; for two years it will be 10,000 CAD (~5.87 lakh INR) and for three years it will be 15,000 CAD (~8.81 lakh INR) .

The awarding unit will contribute to 1/3rd of the total award. Candidates must be permanent residents of Canada, Canadian citizens, or international students with a cumulative average of A- or 80% (as per Ontario's standards).

The Ontario Trillium Scholarship

The Government of Ontario offers the Ontario Trillium Scholarship to 75 doctorate students. International doctorate students with a valid study permit who are registered full-time in any faculty's degree-granting program are eligible for a 40,000 CAD (~23.5 lakh INR)  award. Following the first year, these scholarships will be automatically awarded to the student for the next three years if the student maintains high academic standing and continues to meet recipient qualifying standards. The Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development covers 26,666 CAD (~15.66 lakh INR) of 40,000 CAD , while the university covers 13,333 CAD (~7.83 lakh INR). A candidate must have received a cumulative aggregate of first-class or A-/ 80 percent in each of the previous two years of full-time study to be eligible for the award.

The University of Waterloo Master's and Doctoral Awards

The University of Waterloo Graduate Scholarship is available to international students with a valid Canada student visa who are enrolled in research-based masters and doctorate programs at the University of Waterloo. It is generally valued at $1,000 (~58,750 INR) each term for up to three terms. Candidates for the University of Waterloo Graduate Scholarship must hold a master's or doctoral degree and be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or international/study permit students. There are no applications required for the Masters and Doctoral Awards at the University of Waterloo. Instead, qualified students will be nominated by their respective graduate departments depending on the finances available to them.

University of Calgary Graduate Scholarships

PhD scholarships in Canada are available at the University of Calgary in a variety of faculties and for a variety of programs. Scholarships will be awarded to students depending on their residency status in Canada, the faculty to which they belong, and the sort, of course, they are pursuing. It is worth 18,000 CAD (~10.57 lakh INR)  for PhD students and 14,000 CAD (~8.22 lakh INR)  for master's students for a period of 12 months for master's students and 24 months for PhD students. The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships(UMFG)

The University of Manitoba awards scholarships for its doctoral and master’s courses. The Master's program scholarship is valued at 28,000 CAD (~16.45 lakh INR) per annum, while the Doctoral program scholarship is valued at 18,000 CAD (~10.57 lakh INR) per annum . The Master's program scholarships are provided for a period of between 12 and 24 months, while the Doctoral program scholarships are provided for a period of between 12 and 48 months. To acknowledge and promote academic brilliance, moreover $2 million in university graduate fellowships are awarded each year to full-time masters and PhD students. Students who have shown outstanding intellectual capacity and academic achievement are eligible for the grants.

The Banting Post Doctoral Fellowship

The Banting Post-Doctoral Fellowship provides 70,000 CAD (~41.12 lakh INR)  each year for two years to deserving students with the capacity to contribute to Canada's economic, social, and research-based development. Citizens of Canada, permanent residents of Canada, and international students are eligible to participate in the program. Healthcare, Natural Sciences and Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences are among the research areas.

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships

The Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation offers scholarships to 16 doctorate fellows each for their studies and leadership training. The PETF scholarship covers tuition and living expenses for three years at a maximum of 40,000 CAD (~23.5 lakh INR) each year. In addition, the scholarships include 20,000 CAD (~11.75 lakh INR) each year for three years as research, networking, and travel grants (the funding may also be used to learn a new language). The scholarship also gives you access to a lively network of researchers, fellows, and mentors who are all experts in their disciplines. The topic of study should be broadly related to the humanities or human sciences and has a direct bearing on Canada's future.

The Graduate Global Leadership Fellowships

This scholarship is given to promising leaders from developing nations who have excelled academically, who demonstrate extraordinary leadership in their countries' humanitarian and development efforts and wish to pursue PhD studies at UBC. The value is approximately 18,200   CAD (~10.7 lakh INR)  each year, including tuition for a four-year term, which is offered to two new students each year.

NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships

Meritorious scholars enrolled in a PhD degree in Natural Science and Engineering are eligible for NSERC PostGraduate Scholarships. The scholarship is worth 20,000 CAD (~11.75 lakh INR)  and will last three years.

The eligibility requirements to pursue a PhD from UBC are:

To apply for this course, students fill out the application online and pay a non-refundable PhD programme deposit of $300 which will be credited towards tuition. Students must upload all required supporting documents and ensure they follow the instructions for transcripts and letters of recommendation references . The international student fee for doctoral programmes starts at around $17,000.

Subject to these Terms of Use, TC Global grants each user of the Site and/or Service a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-sub licensable and non-transferable license to use, modify and reproduce the Content, solely for personal, non-commercial use. Termination

You release TC Global from all liability for you having acquired or not acquired Content through the Service. TC Global reserves the right to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which event you will assist and cooperate with TC Global in asserting any available defenses.

Limitation of Liability

ALL LIABILITY OF TC GLOBAL, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS OR CONTENT PROVIDERS HOWSOEVER ARISING FOR ANY LOSS SUFFERED AS A RESULT OF YOUR USE OF THE SITE, SERVICE, CONTENT OR USER SUBMISSIONS IS EXPRESSLY EXCLUDED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAVE THAT, IF A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION DETERMINES THAT LIABILITY OF TC GLOBAL, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS OR CONTENT PROVIDERS (AS APPLICABLE) HAS ARISEN, THE TOTAL OF SUCH LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED IN AGGREGATE TO THE VALUE OF TC GLOBAL'S SERVICES AVAILED BY THE USER FOR 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE INITIATION OF A CLAIM.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TC GLOBAL, NOR ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS OR CONTENT PROVIDERS, BE LIABLE UNDER CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, NEGLIGENCE OR ANY OTHER LEGAL OR EQUITABLE THEORY OR OTHERWISE (AND WHETHER OR NOT TC GLOBAL, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS OR CONTENT PROVIDERS HAD PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES GIVING RISE TO SUCH LOSS OR DAMAGE) WITH RESPECT TO THE SITE, SERVICE, CONTENT OR USER SUBMISSIONS FOR:

• INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSSES OR DAMAGES;

Governing Law

A printed version of these Terms of Use and of any notice given in electronic form shall be admissible in judicial or administrative proceedings based upon or relating to these Terms of Use to the same extent and subject to the same conditions as other business documents and records originally generated and maintained in printed form. You and TC Global agree that any cause of action arising out of or related to the Service must commence within one (1) year after the cause of action arose; otherwise, such cause of action is permanently barred.

Terms of Use and all other policies available on this Service shall be interpreted and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms of Use and/ or other policies available on this App, including any question regarding its existence, validity or termination, shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre ("SIAC") in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre ("SIAC Rules") for the time being in force, which rules are deemed to be incorporated by reference in this clause. The Tribunal shall consist of 3 arbitrators. The seat and venue of Arbitration shall be Singapore and the language of proceedings shall be English. Subject to the foregoing, the Courts of Singapore shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes relating to the subject matter, herein.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, if a dispute arises with respect to the validity, scope, enforceability, inventorship, ownership, infringement, breach or unauthorised use of any patent, trademark, copyright or other intellectual property right or any non-proprietary data owned and/or controlled by TC Global, whether or not arising from the Terms of Use, such dispute (at the option of TC Global) shall not be submitted to arbitration and instead, TC Global shall be free to initiate litigation, including but not limited to a claim for interim injunctive relief, in a court of competent jurisdiction, in any country or other jurisdiction in which such rights apply.

Integration and Severability

These Terms of Use are the entire agreement between you and TC Global with respect to the Service and use of the Site, Service, Content or User Submissions, and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals (whether oral, written or electronic) between you and TC Global with respect to the Site. If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms of Use will otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable. The failure of either party to exercise in any respect any right provided for herein shall not be deemed a waiver of any further rights hereunder. If any provision of these Terms is held to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, in whole or in part, under any law, such provision or part thereof shall to that extent be deemed not to form part of these Terms but the legality, validity and enforceability of the other provisions in these Terms shall not be affected. In that event, the parties shall replace the illegal, invalid or unenforceable provision or part thereof with a provision or part thereof that is legal, valid and enforceable and that has, to the greatest extent possible, a similar effect as the illegal, invalid or unenforceable provision or part thereof, given the contents and purpose of these Terms. International students can avail a number of PhD scholarships in Canada in various fields of study. Both renewable and non-renewable Ph.D scholarships in Canada 2022 are available for international students that covers some of the major expenses and also fully or partially covers the cost of doctoral studies.

Generally, a Ph.D. degree is the highest level of study, the students can achieve after completing their postgraduate studies. Most of the PhD courses in Canada require a duration of 3 years in full-time study and research. In this program, the students are taught research methodology, practical skills, presentation, and teaching skills.

Canadian Universities offer excellent facilities with highly qualified researchers and faculties who have real-world experience. Pursuing your Ph.D. at a Canadian university would provide a great boost to your career and help you network with top researchers in different fields of study.

Ph.D. Scholarships for International Students in Canada

International students can find below a complete list of PhD scholarships in Canada 2022:

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

The university of waterloo master's and doctoral awards, ontario trillium scholarship, the ontario graduate scholarship, university of calgary graduate scholarships, the university of manitoba graduate fellowship, the pierre elliott trudeau foundation doctoral scholarships, the graduate global leadership fellowship, banting post doctoral fellowship, nserc post graduate scholarships.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (VCGS) program was named after the first Francophone Governor General of Canada, Major-General Georges P. Vanier. The scholarship grants CAD 50,000 per year for doctoral programs, for 3 years. The selection criteria for the scholarship is done on the basis of academic excellence, research potential and leadership qualities.

The scholarship is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and international students. The areas of research for the doctoral scholarship are Health Research, Natural Sciences and/or Engineering Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research.

The University of Waterloo Master's and Doctoral Awards is awarded to graduate students registered in the Master's and Doctoral programs at the University of Waterloo. The scholarship grants CAD 1,000 per term for up to three terms, to students who have a minimum cumulative average of first class (80%) in their current program or over the previous two full-time academic years, within the limits of their graduate program.

For the Master's and Doctoral Awards at the University of Waterloo, no applications are required. Instead, the respective graduate departments will nominate eligible students based on the funds allocated to them.

The Ontario Trillium Scholarship is another scholarship awarded by the University of Waterloo. The scholarship is valued at CAD 40,000 to international doctoral students who have a valid study permit, and are registered on a full-time basis in any faculty's degree-granting program.

Out of the CAD 40,000, CAD 26,666 is covered by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development while CAD 13,333 is covered by the university. To be eligible for the scholarship, a candidate must have achieved a cumulative aggregate of first class or A-/ 80% in each of the each of the previous two years of full-time study.

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) has been merit-based scholarships to the best graduate students in Ontario since 1975. The scholarship is jointly-funded by the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto. The value of the OGS is CAD 5,000 per annum.; for two years it will be CAD 10,000 and for three years it will be CAD 15,000.

In each case, the awarding unit will contribute to 1/3rd of the total award cost received by students. Candidates must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or international students with a cumulative average of A- or 80% (as per Ontario's standards).

The university of Calgary has a host of PhD scholarships across various faculties, for numerous programs. The scholarships provided will differ for students based on their residence-status in Canada, the faculty to which the student belongs to, and the type of course the student is studying. The scholarships below are provided to international students at the University of Calgary:

The University of Manitoba awards scholarships for its Master's and Doctoral programs. The Master's program scholarship is valued at CAD 28,000 per annum, while the Doctoral program scholarship is valued at CAD 18,000 per annum.

The Master's program scholarships are are provided for a period of between 12 and 24 months, while the Doctoral program scholarships are provided for a period of between 12 and 48 months. The maximum support for any student is for a period of 5 years or 60 months. Students who have a minimum GPA 3.0 will be considered for the University of Manitoba Fellowship.

Every year, 16 doctoral scholars are selected to receive funding for their studies and leadership training through the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation. The PETF scholarship provides up to CAD 40,000 per annum for three years to cover tuition and living expenses.

The scholarships also awards CAD 20,000 per annum for three years as funds for research, networking and a travel allowance (the funding may also be used to learn a new language). The scholarship also provides membership in a vibrant community of scholars, fellows and mentors, all of whom are experts in their respective fields. 

The Graduate Global Leadership Fellowship or GGLF is provided to international students from developing nations looking to pursue their doctoral studies, who show exceptional leadership in humanitarian and development work in their countries. The eligibility criteria for the GGLF scholarships are as follows:

• Candidates must be from a developing country
• Candidates must have a valid study permit
• Candidates must have an exceptional academic background
• Candidates must show a history of outstanding leadership in humanitarian and social work, in their home-country

Students will be considered on the basis of academic excellence, research ability and leadership in civil and sustainable development in the home-country.

The Banting Post Doctoral Fellowship grants CAD 70,000 per annum for two years, to students meritorious students who have potential to contribute to Canada's economic, social and research-based growth. The program is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and international students.

The areas of research are Healthcare, Natural Sciences of Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The fellowships are granted by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

The NSERC Post Graduate Scholarships are awarded to meritorious scholars engaged in the doctoral program in Natural Science and Engineering. The scholarship is valued at CAD 20,000 for a period of 3 years. The scholarship is open to permanent residents of Canada and Canadian citizens.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health-related fields. Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and international students are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier Scholarship, which is valued at $50,000 per year for up to three years.

• UBC Vanier application deadline: 12 noon (PT – Vancouver time) on Thursday, August 29 2024

Note: Per changes to Tri-Agency award values announced in June 2024, the Vanier CGS program is expected to continue under its current parameters of $50,000 per year for this competition year. Further information on the future of the program will be shared as it becomes available.

You are considered an international student if you are not a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and you come to Canada on a temporary basis for the purpose of pursuing an accredited course of study.

Students fully funded by a third party sponsor, including government funding, are not eligible for University of Calgary awards under the  Graduate Award Regulation .

Students registered in a graduate program at the University of Calgary-Qatar are not eligible for any graduate awards unless explicitly stated in the terms of reference for the award.

A new List of Malaysian BS MS PhD Scholarships For 2025 for international students. The Malaysian Government aims to attract 250,000 students to Higher Learning Institutes (HLI) and schools by 2025, and one university in Asia will be in the Top 25, two in the Global Top 100, and four in the Global Top 200 by 2025. Malaysia attracts international students through its Government scholarship programs. There are two popular fully funded scholarships in Malaysia for international students known as MIS and MTCP scholarships.

Compared to other Western countries and Asian countries, Malaysia is a cheaper country for international students in terms of Higher education, and living cost. Education in Malaysia is well-developed. People from all over the world come to Malaysia. The Malaysian weather remains the same all year. The list of scholarships in Malaysia is given below.

1) MIS Scholarship in Malaysia

MIS stands for the Malaysian Government Scholarship. This scholarship is Funded by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. International students can pursue Master’s and PhD degree programs from Malaysian Public Universities.

IELTS is not required. There is no application fee to apply for the scholarship.

2) MTCP Scholarship by Malaysian Technical Cooperation

MTCP Stands for the Malaysian Technical Cooperation. This is another fully funded scholarship for students from developing countries to pursue a Master’s degree program from Malaysian Public & Private Universities.

This scholarship covers Airfare, Tuition Fee, and Monthly Stipend.

3) UniKL British Malaysian Institute

They are looking for a Graduate Research Assistant for the Masters and Doctor of Philosophy.

4) University of Malaya Scholarship

Graduate Research Assistant Position is available for students in the fields of Social Sciences, and Biotechnology-related disciplines.

6) Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) Postgraduate Opportunity

Project Title : A Bilevel Algorithm of Feed Forward Neural Network for the Development of Transformer Health Index.

• Requirements : Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, ICT or equivalent with CGPA>2.75.
