  • My class has one big blackboard and one big whiteboard, which the teacher uses to explain a concept or draw something for us.
  • Our class also has an activity board, which all the students decorate turn-wise.
  • My classroom is well-ventilated as has two big windows.
  • My classroom also has beautiful yellow colour on the walls and white ceilings.
  • There is an open almirah in my class, where kids keep all the essentials like water bottles, bags, etc.
  • There are two dustbins in my class to throw waste.
  • There is a cupboard near the teacher’s table where our teacher keeps things necessary to conduct a lesson, like chalk, dusters, napkins, etc.

Many kids understand a topic but get puzzled when it comes to writing. Therefore, teachers first give a small paragraph to write on an easy subject like ‘my classroom’. Writing a short paragraph allows kids to explore their inner thoughts on the subject:

Everyone loves their school and classroom, and I am no exception. There are many reasons why I adore my classroom; one of them is that it is very spacious and big. It has 15 desks, one big almirah for keeping kids’ essentials, and two boards – a whiteboard and a blackboard. It also has a projector, which our teacher uses to show us stories and movies. My classroom has two windows facing the playground. I love seeing outside during a free period; it makes me feel relaxed. We also have a craft board where every kid needs to add something from their imagination.

As kids progress in class, they need to write progressive and longer sentences on various topics. Topics like my classroom challenge kids’ creative thinking and boost their sentence construction ability:

My classroom is one such space where I spend maximum time learning and exploring new topics and concepts. It is where 30 students like me from different walks of life sit together and learn together. My classroom is hi-tech and equipped to tackle any emergency with a fire alarm, fire extinguisher, etc. We also have a projector and whiteboard as our teacher explains most concepts with videos and graphics. Besides having a big shelf for kids’ essentials, my classroom has a small section with many books we can read during our free period. I can only take some books home after my teacher’s permission for a day or two. The best part about my classroom is it has lively interiors that can attract anyone. One can see different types of charts, quotations of notable personalities, and drawings done by students like me on my classroom walls, making it more attractive. We don’t have ceiling fans in our classroom as we have a centralised AC in the entire school. My classroom is impressive in every sense, as it showcases a part of me in every corner.

An essay on my classroom is a good way to promote critical thinking and observational skills via writing. Below is an essay for class 3 on essay my classroom for your reference.

Writing on the topic of my classroom is like writing about the most special space of your school. This is the place where learning and exploration go hand in hand and add a new dimension to our life. Here, we make many memories that stay with us even after school. My classroom is a very advanced, well-planned room that can accommodate around 30 students comfortably. My classroom has a unique feature: a soft board under every child’s name. All students get a chance to decorate that board weekly, and to do that, we need to come up with fresh ideas every week. The best idea gets a small prize and appreciation from the teacher. I have a whiteboard and a blackboard in my class, which my teacher uses as per the demand of the topic. I like the projector in my class; for crucial topics, our teachers use videos and graphical representation for better understanding. My seat is near a glass window, which I like the most as it has a stunning garden view.

My school believes in a no-baggage policy; therefore, all our books are in a big almirah in our classroom. Thanks to that, my bag remains light. My classroom is where we do lots of creative work and participate in competitions to boost our confidence. My teacher says this is our second home, and we should keep it clean; therefore, students take turns cleaning the classroom every day. We have two dustbins to make sure no wrapper or dry waste remains on the floor. After Covid, my classroom has a hand sanitiser bootle installed at the entry door, and no student can come without sanitising their hands. My classroom is hi-tech and equipped to tackle any emergency as it has a fire alarm, fire extinguisher, smoke detector, etc.

Your child will learn to give words to their thoughts and write a better composition on my classroom. Their writing skills get refined, and they learn new words that enrich their vocabulary.

Even while at home, the lessons of my teacher resonate in my mind. I listen to my teacher’s lecture and sincerely remember almost every word that s/he speaks in class. I never disobeyed my teacher or did something that could offend them. My Teacher is a blessing of God and is the most significant one for that matter.

Short Essay on My Teacher – Essay 1 (200 Words)

We, humans, are social beings. Therefore society plays a vital role in shaping our personality and career. Our society, or any society for that matter, comprises relations. As we are born, we become part of our society and are introduced to many relations—for example, father, mother, brother, sister, friends etc.

A maximum of the relations mentioned above have a clear-cut function. But there is one relation, which is a combination of all relations, and I think that relationship is a student-teacher relation. I can say this with absolute certainty because of my personal experience. My nursery teacher (especially other teachers) was a complete world to me. I am sure many of you will agree with this. A teacher is a guide, mentor, friend and many other things.

Sant Kabir das has truly said this line for teachers:-

“Guru Govind doukhade, kakelagupaye, Balhari guru apne, Govind diyo batay”

In the above lines, a student says that if God and my teacher are standing in front of me, I have to decide whose feet I should touch first. In that case, I will touch the feet of my teacher first because it is the teacher who has taught me the way to reach god.

This was the place given to teachers in those days, but now both (I mean students and teachers) have changed. Earlier it was more of a passion than a profession, but now it has just become a means of livelihood. But I think all is not lost. Whenever I see students celebrating teacher’s day and teachers getting emotional over it, I feel really happy. Teachers have and will continue to hold a special place in our hearts.

Essay on Teachers are the Builders of Our Future – Essay 2 (300 Words)

No one can deny that teachers play an important role in shaping our future. Right from the first day of school to the last day of college, they teach, find and correct faults, and besides giving education, they also shape our personality. In short, they make our future.

Teachers are the Builders of Our Future

There are many relations which have a special place in our hearts. I am sure one of them is a “teacher” for most of us. Some of us even hate our teachers, especially those who were strict with us, used to give us punishments, or scolded us for misdeeds.

As we grow old, in most cases, this hate turns into love because we realize the importance of being scolded in professional life. Kabir das has put the functionality of the teacher beautifully in the following lines….

“Guru khumbhar shishya kumbha hai, Gadhi gadhi kadhe khot, Anter hath sahar de, Bahar mare chot”

In the above lines, Sant Kabir das says that a teacher is like a potter and a student is like the water pot being made by him. In making the pot, he beats the clay from the outside but simultaneously keeps a hand from the inside for support.

I love my teachers (especially those who scolded me more). They are the ones responsible for making my future.

When I was young, I wanted to become an English writer. When I told my friends and parents this, they used to laugh because I was very bad at English. My teacher used to scold and punish me daily, but I never lost my patience. His guidance and hard work paid off, and I can become an English teacher and a writer. I used to curse him earlier for being so strict with me, but now I am thankful to him because his strictness paid off.

Essay on the Role of Teachers in Our Life – Essay 3 (400 Words)

It is true that parents are our first teachers. They teach us a lot, but this fact cannot be denied that our real education starts in school and is provided by our school teachers. This is why teachers are given a lot of respect in our society. They play an important role in a person’s life.

Role of Teachers in Our Life

A teacher is a guide, mentor, friend and many other things. It depends upon the student on how he defines his teacher. Sant Tulsi das has put this beautifully in the following lines…

“Jaki rahi bhavana jaisi, Prabhu murat dekhi tin taisi”

In the above lines, Sant Tulsi das says that God/Teacher will appear to the person in the same way as the person thinks. For example, Arjun felt that lord Krishna was his friend, while Mira Bai felt that lord Krishna was her lover. This is true for teachers also.

My Nursery Teacher- My Every Thing

There was something magical about her. I trusted her blindly. I can’t give a name to the relationship I shared with her, but I can surely say it was an amalgam of many relationships.

My Primary Teacher- My Mentor

It is said that if the foundation of a building is strong, then one can add any number of floors to it, but if the foundation is weak, doing that is risky. I was lucky to have very good primary teachers who laid the foundation of everything, like education, character etc., in me. Because of that strong foundation, I could become what I wanted to be.

My Middle School Teacher- My Boss

Whatever discipline I have, it’s because of my middle school teachers. They scolded, shouted and pushed me to the limit. I hated them the most in school, but now I realize why they did that.

My Secondary and Higher Secondary School Teachers- My Friend

Someone has truly said that when a son’s/daughter’s shoe size becomes equal to the size of the parent’s/teacher’s, they become friends. I used to share all my things with my teachers, and in return, I got guidance, and because of that, I got saved from teenage-related problems.

Essay on the Importance of Teachers in Our Life – Essay 4 (500 Words)

It isn’t easy to write about the importance of teachers in one’s life because they are the whole world for a maximum of us. Lucky are those who had good teachers.

Importance of Teachers in Our Life

A newborn child has an empty mind, or we can say his mind is blank. Whatever a teacher teaches him becomes their personality.

They educate us.

The primary aim of the teacher is to impart education. They try their best to teach and impart education to students. He has to adjust according to the needs of the students and sometimes has to prepare and perform with less or practically no resources (in government primary schools).

Often, teachers have to work long hours to meet their financial needs as the salary paid to teachers is normally not good. To maintain quality of education, a teacher has to prepare notes, do research etc. All in all, he works very hard.

A Teacher is a Character Builder

Besides giving bookish knowledge, a teacher is expected to impart moral education to kids. Sometimes, it is given formally, and sometimes, it is given casually.

When I was a kid, I once picked up an eraser from my friend without asking him and forgot to return it. My friend went to my teacher and told her that I had stolen his eraser. I cried and said that I just forgot to ask him. My teacher said, “I believe you, but you should have asked for it.” Trust me, till now I remember that lesson, and never forget it.

We are taught small things in schools (manners) like, ‘do not tell lies’, ‘always say thankyou and please’, ‘ask for permission before entering a room or sitting on a chair’ etc. I thought they were small things but trusted me; these small things can make or break a situation (especially interviews).

A Teacher is a Guide, a Mentor

When I was in class 10 th , I was unsure which stream (science or commerce) I should pursue. The more I took opinions from others, the more I got confused. At last, I consulted my teacher, and he said,” listen to your heart, and you will get the answer”, and yes, I got the answer.

A Teacher is a Friend

I firmly believe that no matter how talented a person is, they can’t perform if they are emotionally not well. If one can consider their teacher a friend, trust me, your teacher will guide you through emotional turbulence.

Teacher- our Well Wisher

Some people will never betray you. One among them is your teacher. No matter what you think of him, they will always be your well-wisher.

I want to share one incident. When I was in school, there used to be one maths teacher who was very strict with us. He used to scold us, beat us, and give us punishment. In other words, he made our life hell. All students used to hate him. One day we lost our patience and decided to take revenge. We burnt his motorcycle. An FIR was registered. When one of my classmates was threatened, he took some names. When the police came to arrest those boys, our maths teacher withdrew his complaint.

No one of us expected this. We went to him and said sorry. We also asked him why he withdrew the police complaint. He said,” As students, you are bound to make errors, and as a teacher, I must correct them. But I can’t give you that punishment which will ruin your career and brand you as a criminal. This is why I withdrew my police complaint.” We all cried and said sorry again. This is what a real teacher is like.

Long Essay on Teacher and Student Relationship – Essay 5 (600 Words)

Man is a social animal. We are so many things at the same time. For example, we are a son, father, mother, brother, husband, friend, boss, employee, etc., all simultaneously. We fulfil so many obligations at the same time. Almost the scope of every relationship is well defined. But some relations are complex, or in other words, they are an amalgam of many relations. One is the relationship between a student and their school teacher. It isn’t easy to define it because a teacher plays many roles in a student’s life.

Magical Relationship (between a Nursery Student and his/her Teacher)

Most of you will agree that the relationship between nursery students and their teachers cannot be defined. I have just one word for it – magical. If she asked me to do something, there was no way I could say no. Once I asked her innocently,” Madam, do you like me?” To this, she replied,” yes, of course”. That day I became so happy.

One day, due to some reason, I got angry and was not eating food at home. My Mom and Dad tried every trick they knew but were unsuccessful. At last, my dad called my school teacher, and I was asked to talk to her on the phone. She just said, “Dheerendra…..”. I instantly replied,” Yes, Madam, I am not angry at all and will have my food right now and do my homework….”. That was her magic of her.

As a teacher, I try to create the same bond with my little students. Whether I became successful or not can be a matter of debate, but I am trying and will continue to become a good teacher.

Relationship between an Army Cadet and his Instructor

When I was in class 6 th , I joined NCC. I remember he was such a tough guy. We used to call him Gabbar. Whatever discipline and toughness I have, all credit for it goes to him. He taught us survival skills, among other things. The relationship that existed between us was mainly based on fear. It is almost like the terror of Gabbar Singh from the movie Sholey.

When he used to shout, “Boys, are you hungry”? We used to shout back, “no sir”. Then again, he shouted, “Are you tired”? “No sir”, was the reply. Even now, when I feel tired, I recall that shout, and I feel fully charged the next moment.

Relationship between Teenage Students and their Teachers

Teenage is normally considered the best time of life. Normally at this age, the student-teacher relationship is based on understanding, love and attraction. To handle teenage kids, a teacher has to be very mature; otherwise, things may go south.

It is also an age of rebellion. Therefore good teachers use strictness in a calculated amount because excess of it can become counterproductive.

When I was in class 8 th , my English was horrible. This is why I was not able to write answers correctly. One day my English teacher called me. She had my English literature copy in her hand. But thank God nothing like that happened. She politely asked about my problem, but I could not explain it because of fear. When I realised she wouldn’t scold me, I told her my problem. She then worked very hard on me, and only because of her hard work and my willpower improved my English. The point is, if she had scolded me or punished me, I am pretty sure things would not have worked out.

I try to do the same with my students. Sometimes, the situation becomes tricky. For example, once a girl student of mine asked me in class, “sir, mai AAP ko kaisi lagti hu”. I laughed and said, “You are a good kid”.

We always happily participate in all extracurricular activities such as singing, dancing, quiz competition, speeches, essay writing, tabloids, and sports events. The school administration also encourages and motivates us very much to be more active in extracurricular activities. We have a school bus which picks and drops us at our house. We have a lot of fun even on the bus with my friends.

My school teaches me how to behave, self-discipline, public speaking and many other things. Most importantly, they taught me how to face failure with grace. We have National Credit Corp (NCC) in our school. After we complete the camp of NCC we will be provided with an ‘A’ certificate. This also helps us further in many ways.

After every exam, they give us a progress report where we can check our grades and this is also a kind of performance management for us. We get to know where we are exactly lagging to build up ourselves. We have a computerised lab, where we get to learn various things over our syllabus. Our school conducts a drill session twice a week. We have a big auditorium where we assemble for prayers.

My Teacher teaches me subjects; clear my doubts; watches my conduct and corrects me when needed; inspires me; motivates me whenever I am feeling low and encourages me to explore my limits.

I don’t know whom do you consider as a God’s gift, it could be your mother, father or grandparents; but, for me My Teacher is a gift of God, especially delivered to make my life. Even while at home, the lessons of my teacher resonate in my mind. I listen to the lecture of my teacher sincerely remember almost every word that s/he speaks in the class. I also, never ever disobey my teacher or do something which could offend him/her. My Teacher is a blessing of the God, and is the most significant one by that matter.

Short Essay on My Teacher – Essay 1 (200 Words)

We humans are social beings. Therefore society plays an important role in shaping our personality and career. Our society or any society for that matter is made up of relations. As we are born, we become part of our society and are introduced to many relations. For example, father, mother, brother, sister, friends etc.

Maximum of the relations mentioned above have a clear cut function. But there is one relation, according to me which is a combination of all relations and I think that relation is a student teacher relation. I can say this with absolute certainty because of my personal experience. For me my nursery teacher (especially and other teachers also) was a complete world for me. I am sure many of you will agree to this. A teacher is a guide, mentor, friend and many other things which one can think off.

Sant Kabir das has truly said this line for teachers:-

“Guru Govind doukhade, kakelagupaye, Balhari guru apne, Govind diyo batay”

In the above lines a student says that if both God and my teacher are standing in front of me and I have to decide that whose feet I should touch first. In that case I will touch the feet of my teacher first, because it is the teacher who has taught me the way to reach god.

This was the place given to teacher in those days but now both (I mean students as well as teachers) have changed. Earlier it was more of a passion than profession but now it has just become a means of livelihood. But, I think, all is not lost. Whenever I see students celebrating teacher’s day and teachers getting emotional over it, I feel really happy. Teachers have and will continue to hold a special place in our heart.

Essay on Teachers are the Builders of Our Future – Essay 2 (300 Words)

Introduction

No one can deny the fact that teachers play an important role in shaping our future. Right from the first day of school to the last day of college, they teach, find and correct faults and besides giving education, they also shape our personality. In short they make our future.

Teachers are the Builders of Our Future

There are many relations which have a special place in our heart. I am sure one of that is a “teacher”, for most of us. Some of us even hate our teachers, especially those who were strict with us or used to give us punishments or scolded us for misdeeds.

As we grow old, in most of the cases, this hate turns into love because in professional life we realize the importance of being scolded. Kabir das has put the functionality of the teacher, beautifully in the following lines….

“Guru khumbhar shishya kumbha hai, Gadhi gadhi kadhe khot, Anter hath sahar de, Bahar mare chot”

In the above lines Sant Kabir das says that a teacher is like a potter and a student is like the water pot being made by him. In the process of making the pot, he beats the clay from outside but at the same time keeps a hand from inside for support.

This is why I love my teachers (especially those who scolded me more). They are the ones responsible for making my future.

When I was young, I wanted to become an English writer. When I used to tell this to my friends and parents, they used to laugh because I was very bad at English. My teacher used to daily used to scold and punish me but I never lost my patience. His guidance and mine hard work paid off and I am able to become an English teacher and a writer. I used to curse him earlier for being so strict with me but now I am thankful to him because his strictness paid off.

So, do love your strict teachers because they will make you what you want to become. In other words they are the architects of your future.

Essay on Role of Teachers in Our Life – Essay 3 (400 Words)

It is true that parents are our first teachers. They teach us a lot, but this fact could not be denied that our real education starts in school and is provided by our school teachers. This is why teachers are given a lot of respect in our society. They play an important role in a person’s life.

Role of Teachers in Our Life

A teacher is a guide, mentor, friend and many other things which one can think off. It depends upon the student, on how he defines his teacher. Sant Tulsi das has put this beautifully in the following lines…

“Jaki rahi bhavana jaisi, Prabhu murat dekhi tin taisi”

In the above lines Sant Tulsi das says that God/Teacher will appear to the person in the same way as the person thinks. For example Arjun felt that lord Krishna was his friend while Mira Bai felt that lord Krishna was her lover. This is true for teachers also.

My Nursery Teacher- My Every Thing

There was something magical about her. I trusted her blindly. I can’t give a name to the relationship which I shared with her but I can surely say that it was an amalgam of many relationships.

My Primary Teacher- My Mentor

It is said that if the foundation of a building is strong, then one can add any number of floors to it, but if the foundation is weak then doing that is risky. I was lucky to have very good primary teachers who laid the foundation of everything like education, character etc in me. It was because of that strong foundation, I am able to become what I wanted to become.

My Middle School Teacher- My Boss

Whatever discipline I have, it’s because of my middle school teachers. They scolded, shouted and pushed me to the limit. When I was in school, I hated them the most, but now I realize why they did that.

My Secondary and Higher Secondary School Teachers- My Friend

Someone has truly said that when son’s/daughter’s shoe size becomes equal to the size of parent’s/teacher’s then they become friends. I used to share all my personal things with my teachers and in return I got guidance and because of that I got saved from teen age related problems.

A teacher plays many roles in our life, like an actor, who plays different roles in different movies and we appreciate him/her in all roles.

Essay on Importance of Teachers in Our Life – Essay 4 (500 Words)

I think it is very difficult to write the importance of teachers in one’s life because for maximum of us they are the whole world. Lucky are those who had good teachers.

Importance of Teachers in Our Life

A new born child has an empty mind or we can say that his mind is a blank slate. Whatever a teacher teaches him, it becomes his/her personality.

They Give us Education

The primary aim of the teacher is to impart education. He/she tries his/her best to teach and impart education to students. He has to adjust according to the needs of the students and sometimes has to teach and perform with less or practically no resources (in government primary schools).

Many times a teacher has to work for long hours to meet his/her financial needs as salary paid to teachers is normally not good. In order to maintain quality of education, a teacher has to prepare notes, do research etc. All in all he works very hard.

A Teacher is a Character Builder

Besides giving bookish knowledge a teacher is expected to impart moral education to kids. Sometimes, it is given in a formal way and sometimes, it is given in a causal way.

When I was a kid, I once picked up an eraser of my friend without asking him and forgot to return it. My friend went to my teacher and told her that I have stolen his eraser. I cried and said that I just forgot to ask him. My teacher said, “I believe you, but you should have asked for it.” Trust me, till know I remember that lesson, and never forget it.

Small things which we are taught in schools (manners) like, ‘do not tell lies’, ‘always say thankyou and please’, ‘ask for permission before entering a room or sitting on a chair’ etc. I thought, they were small things but trust me; these small things have the capacity to make or break a situation (especially interviews).

A Teacher is a Guide, a Mentor

When I was in class 10 th , I was not sure as to which stream (science or commerce) I should pursue. The more I took opinions from other persons, the more I got confused. At last, I consulted my teacher and he said,” Just listen to your heart and you will get the answer” and yes I really got the answer.

A Teacher is a Friend

I firmly believe that no matter how talented a person is, he/she can’t perform if he/she is emotionally not well. If one is able to consider his/her teacher a friend then trust me your teacher will definitely guide you through your emotional turbulence.

Teacher- our Well Wisher

There are some persons who will never betray you. One among them is your teacher. No matter what you think of him, he/she will always be your well-wisher.

I would like to share one incident. When I was in school, there used to be one maths teacher of ours who was very strict with us. He used to scold us, beat us, gave us punishment. In other words, he made our life hell. All students used to really hate him. One day we lost our patience and decided to take revenge. We burnt his motorcycle. An FIR was registered. When one of my classmates was threatened, he took some names. When police came to arrest those boys, our maths teacher withdrew his complaint.

No one of us expected this. We went to him and said sorry. We also asked him that why he withdrew the police complaint. He said and I quote,” As students you are bound to make errors and as a teacher it is my duty to correct them. But I can’t give you that punishment which will ruin your career and brand you as a criminal. This is why I withdrew my police complaint.” We all cried and said sorry again. This is what a real teacher is like.

In all I can say that a teacher makes you a complete person in true sense.

Long Essay on Teacher and Student Relationship – Essay 5 (600 Words)

Man is a social animal. We are so many things at the same time. For example, we are son, father, mother, brother, husband, friend, boss, employee etc, all at the same time. We fulfil so many obligations at the same time. Almost the scope of every relationship is well defined. But there are some relations which are complex, or in other words they are an amalgam of many relations. One of them is the relation between a student and his/her school teacher. It is very difficult to define it because a teacher plays so many roles in a student’s life.

Teacher and Student Relationship

Magical Relationship (between a Nursery Student and his/her Teacher)

I am sure, most of you will agree to the fact that the relationship which exists between a nursery student and his/her teacher could not be defined. I have just one word for it – magical. If she asked me to do something, there was no way I could say no. Once I asked her innocently,” Madam, do you like me?” To this she replied,” yes, of course”. That day I became so happy.

One day, due to some reason, I got angry and was not eating food at home. My Mom and Dad tried every trick which they knew but were unsuccessful. At last my dad called my school teacher and I was asked to talk to her on the phone. She just said “Dheerendra…..”. I instantly replied back,” Yes madam, I am not angry at all and will have my food right now and will also do my homework….”. That was the magic of her.

Now as a teacher, I try to create the same bond with my little students. I became successful or not, that can be a matter of debate but I am trying and will continue to try to become a good teacher.

Relationship of an Army Cadet and his Instructor

When I was in class 6 th , I joined NCC. I remember, he was such a tough guy. We used to call him Gabbar. Whatever discipline and toughness I have, all credit of it goes to him. He taught us survival skills among other things. The relationship that existed between us was mainly based on fear. It is almost like the terror of Gabbar Singh from the movie Sholey.

When he used to shout, “Boys, are you hungry”? We used to shout back, “no sir”. Then again he shouted, “Are you tired”? “No sir” was the reply. Even now when I feel tired, I just recall that shout and in the next moment I feel fully charged.

Relationship between Teenage Students and their Teachers

Teenage is normally considered the best time of life. Normally in this age the student-teacher relationship is based on understanding, love and attraction. To handle teenage kids, a teacher has to be very mature; otherwise there is a good chance that things may go south.

It is also an age of rebellion. I mean the more a teenager is stopped from doing a thing, the more he wants to pursue it. Therefore good teachers use strictness in a calculated amount because excess of it can become counterproductive.

When I was in class 8 th , my English was horrible. This is why I was not able to write answers correctly. One day my English teacher called me. She had my English literature copy in her hand. I thought that I would get a nice scolding, may be I will get punished or worse, my parents will be called. But thank God nothing like that happened. She politely asked my problem but I was unable to explain to her because of fear. When I realised that she won’t scold me, then I told her my problem. She then worked vey hard on me and only because of her hard work and mine will power, my English improved significantly. The point is, if she would have scolded me or punished me, I am pretty sure, things would not have worked out.

I try to do exactly the same with my students. Sometimes, the situation becomes really tricky. For example, once a girl student of mine asked me in the class, “sir, mai aap ko kaisi lagti hu”. To this I laughed and said, “You are a good kid”.

Overall, I can say that the student teacher relationship is one of the best relationships among all the relationships because it is a combination of many relationships.

How To Use the RACE Writing Strategy (Plus Free Printables)

Plus, how is the RACES writing strategy different?

my teachers essay for class 1

In today’s world, it’s more important than ever for students to be able to articulate their thoughts clearly and concisely through the written word. One easy way to help them strengthen their skills is by using the RACE writing strategy. This structured method guides writers through creating a strong response to reading comprehension and other short-answer questions, including those found on standardized tests. Here’s how it works and how to teach it.

Don’t forget to grab our free printable set of graphic organizers. We’ve included options for both RACE and RACES, in color and black-and-white. Plus, get printable images for an easy RACE/RACES anchor chart!

What is the RACE writing strategy?

How is the races writing strategy different, how to teach the race/races writing strategy.

  • What’s included in the RACES Printable Bundle?

RACE writing strategy infographic

This simple method is one of many writing strategies educators use to help students ensure they’re answering questions and writing prompts clearly, concisely, and thoroughly. It’s most commonly used with reading comprehension short-answer essay questions, but it works for any situation where students need to provide a written response in paragraph form.

The easy-to-remember acronym breaks the process into four parts, and the best way to explain it is to see it in action. To explore how the strategy works, we’ll use this passage about penguins:

“Penguins have special ways to live in their cold environments. Their smooth bodies and flippers help them swim fast to catch fish, squid, and krill. Their thick, waterproof feathers keep them warm and dry, and a layer of fat, called blubber, gives them extra warmth and helps them float. Penguins have special behaviors too, like huddling together to stay warm and protect their eggs and babies from the cold. Their black-and-white feathers help them hide from predators by blending in with the ocean. All these things help penguins survive and do well in very cold places.”

Question: How do penguins’ bodies help them survive their environment?

First, students turn the question into a statement, to ensure they fully understand what’s being asked. The statement is usually open-ended, because they’ll complete the sentence in the second step.

RACE Writing Strategy Example: “Penguins’ bodies help them survive their environment because they …”

Then, students answer the question with a clear, succinct response. Essentially, they complete the sentence they began in the “Restate” step with a direct answer. ADVERTISEMENT

RACE Writing Strategy Example: ” … help them swim fast, protect them against the cold, and hide them from predators.”

In this key step, students back up their answers by pointing to evidence from the text itself. They may quote or paraphrase what’s written to prove their point.

RACE Writing Strategy Example: “For instance, penguins have smooth bodies and flippers, along with thick black-and-white feathers and blubber.”

Now, students expand on their citation in their own words, so they’re not just parroting back what they’ve read. They explain how the facts they’ve cited help to answer the question.

RACE Writing Strategy Example: “Their bodies and flippers help them swim fast to catch their favorite foods, and their waterproof feathers and blubber keep them warm in the cold weather. Predators have a hard time seeing them because their black-and-white feathers blend into the landscape.”

RACES writing strategy infographic

Some teachers add an S to the RACE strategy, which stands for “Summarize.” This is the conclusion sentence at the end of the response that reinforces the main points in the answer. A complete answer using the RACES strategy might look like this:

“Penguin bodies help them survive their environment because they help them swim fast, protect them against the cold, and hide them from predators. For instance, penguins have smooth bodies and flippers, along with thick black-and-white feathers and blubber. Their bodies and flippers help them swim fast to catch their favorite foods, and their waterproof feathers and blubber keep them warm in the cold weather. Predators have a hard time seeing them because their black-and-white feathers blend into the landscape. All of these body parts help penguins survive in cold and dangerous environments.”

Most teachers begin introducing this method in the mid-elementary years, often around third grade. Continue to use and reinforce it throughout the rest of the elementary years and into the middle grades. By high school, students should be very comfortable with RACE/RACES and consider it an important part of their writing strategies toolbox .

Try these activities and teaching methods to introduce and use this valuable strategy with your students.

Anchor Chart

Create and hang an anchor chart students can refer back to throughout the school year. Make things even easier on yourself by using our free printables to create your chart in no time flat!

Modeling and Guided Practice

As with nearly any strategy, it helps to model the correct behavior for your students first. Use the paragraph above about penguins, or choose any other reading passage you like. Then, walk through the steps together, demonstrating the thinking process and writing out the responses.

Next, provide students with another reading passage ( AI can be a real help here , and short stories work too ) and a comprehension question. Ask them to work in groups to try out the RACE/RACES model. Share each group’s response with the class, then work together to evaluate, correct, and strengthen them as needed.

Graphic Organizers

This organizational tool is ideal for RACE/RACES. Use our free printables (see below), or encourage kids to draw their own simple chart. They can use these organizers to make notes and sketch out their responses before finalizing their answer in paragraph form.

Color Coding

Pull out your highlighters! After students write their responses using the RACE/RACES method, ask them to highlight the various sections that match each letter of the model (e.g., orange for Restate, yellow for Answer, etc.). This ensures they don’t miss any of the steps in writing a complete response. We’ve included color-coded versions in our graphic organizer set to make the process even easier.

Sentence Starters

Jump-start the process by providing a list of sentence stems and starters . These are especially helpful for the Cite, Explain, and Summarize sections. Try these examples:

  • The passage says …
  • As noted in the text …
  • The writer tells us that …
  • According to the author …
  • As mentioned in the article …
  • This shows that …
  • The author means …
  • This example demonstrates …
  • This is how we know that …
  • The evidence supports the idea because …
  • In summary …
  • In conclusion …
  • Based on these facts …
  • For these reasons …

GCSE results day 2024: Everything you need to know including the number grading system

my teachers essay for class 1

Thousands of students across the country will soon be finding out their GCSE results and thinking about the next steps in their education.

Here we explain everything you need to know about the big day, from when results day is, to the current 9-1 grading scale, to what your options are if your results aren’t what you’re expecting.

When is GCSE results day 2024?

GCSE results day will be taking place on Thursday the 22 August.

The results will be made available to schools on Wednesday and available to pick up from your school by 8am on Thursday morning.

Schools will issue their own instructions on how and when to collect your results.

When did we change to a number grading scale?

The shift to the numerical grading system was introduced in England in 2017 firstly in English language, English literature, and maths.

By 2020 all subjects were shifted to number grades. This means anyone with GCSE results from 2017-2020 will have a combination of both letters and numbers.

The numerical grading system was to signal more challenging GCSEs and to better differentiate between students’ abilities - particularly at higher grades between the A *-C grades. There only used to be 4 grades between A* and C, now with the numerical grading scale there are 6.

What do the number grades mean?

The grades are ranked from 1, the lowest, to 9, the highest.

The grades don’t exactly translate, but the two grading scales meet at three points as illustrated below.

The image is a comparison chart from the UK Department for Education, showing the new GCSE grades (9 to 1) alongside the old grades (A* to G). Grade 9 aligns with A*, grades 8 and 7 with A, and so on, down to U, which remains unchanged. The "Results 2024" logo is in the bottom-right corner, with colourful stripes at the top and bottom.

The bottom of grade 7 is aligned with the bottom of grade A, while the bottom of grade 4 is aligned to the bottom of grade C.

Meanwhile, the bottom of grade 1 is aligned to the bottom of grade G.

What to do if your results weren’t what you were expecting?

If your results weren’t what you were expecting, firstly don’t panic. You have options.

First things first, speak to your school or college – they could be flexible on entry requirements if you’ve just missed your grades.

They’ll also be able to give you the best tailored advice on whether re-sitting while studying for your next qualifications is a possibility.

If you’re really unhappy with your results you can enter to resit all GCSE subjects in summer 2025. You can also take autumn exams in GCSE English language and maths.

Speak to your sixth form or college to decide when it’s the best time for you to resit a GCSE exam.

Look for other courses with different grade requirements

Entry requirements vary depending on the college and course. Ask your school for advice, and call your college or another one in your area to see if there’s a space on a course you’re interested in.

Consider an apprenticeship

Apprenticeships combine a practical training job with study too. They’re open to you if you’re 16 or over, living in England, and not in full time education.

As an apprentice you’ll be a paid employee, have the opportunity to work alongside experienced staff, gain job-specific skills, and get time set aside for training and study related to your role.

You can find out more about how to apply here .

Talk to a National Careers Service (NCS) adviser

The National Career Service is a free resource that can help you with your career planning. Give them a call to discuss potential routes into higher education, further education, or the workplace.

Whatever your results, if you want to find out more about all your education and training options, as well as get practical advice about your exam results, visit the  National Careers Service page  and Skills for Careers to explore your study and work choices.

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

Students opening their GCSE results

GCSE results have been released today across England, revealing that the percentage of students achieving pass grades in English and maths has fallen compared with last year - and that the gap between top grades achieved in private and state schools has increased.

The results are broadly similar to those of 2023 overall, with similar proportions of both top grades and students achieving a grade 4 or better.

However, there was a marked drop in the pass rate for English language GCSEs, which has mostly been driven by results for candidates aged 17 or over who were resitting the qualification.

Around four in five students aged 17 who took English language failed to achieve a grade 4 or better this year. (You can find our in-depth subject-by-subject breakdown here .)

Speaking in a Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) briefing this morning, Claire Thomson, AQA’s director of regulation and compliance, said the drop in pass rates was “largely around the 17-year-olds and over who are skewing the distributions. If you look at just the 16-year-olds, they are very stable with minimal movement over the years.

“The 17-and-over cohort has grown and come back over pre-pandemic levels, which is altering the results.”

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

Ofqual told examiners to proceed with “back to normal” grading standards this year after the two-step process to return to pre-pandemic grading was completed last year.

For 2024, examiners were asked to ensure the standard of work was comparable to 2023.

The 2023 GCSE results had seen a fall in the proportion of top grades awarded from 2022, bringing grade distribution more in line with 2019 levels. The proportion of top grades remained slightly above 2019 levels.

This year, examiners were asked by Ofqual to “bear in mind any residual impact of disruption on performance”.

Below are the key takeaways from this year’s GCSE results:

  • GCSE grade spread similar to 2023
  • English language resit passes down
  • Private and state top grades gap increases
  • Regions gap remains stable
  • Gender gap narrows slightly
  • Results in Wales and Northern Ireland

1. Grade spread similar to last year

Overall this year, 67.4 per cent of entries were awarded a grade 4/C or above. This is only slightly lower than last year, when 67.8 per cent of entries received a grade 4 or above.

In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, 67 per cent received a grade 4 or above.

For the higher grades, the overall proportion of entries achieving a grade 7/A or higher was 21.7 per cent. This is very similar to 2023, when it was 21.6 per cent.

And finally, in 2024, a very slightly higher proportion of entries managed to achieve grade 9 (5 per cent). In 2023 and 2019, 4.9 per cent and 4.5 per cent of overall entries got a grade 9 respectively.

2. English language resit passes down

Pass rates for English and maths GCSEs were down on last year. However, this was in part because of a marked drop in the number of students aged 17 or over who did achieve a grade 4 in English language.

Overall in English language, 61.6 per cent achieved a grade 4/C or higher, compared with 64.2 per cent in 2023 and 61.8 per cent in 2019.

The pass rate in English language for candidates who were 17 or older was 20.9 per cent this year in England - down from 25.9 per cent last year.

The results only for 16-year-old candidates saw 71.2 per cent of entries awarded grade 4 or above - very slightly down from 71.6 per cent last year.

The percentage of students achieving the grade they need to pass in maths (4) has fallen this year to 59.6 per cent. Last year, 61 per cent of students achieved grade 4 in maths.

The results for 16-year-old entries show that 72 per cent of students achieved grade 4 in maths this year, slightly down from 72.3 per cent last year.

For entries among students who are aged 17 or over, 17.4 per cent of entries achieved grade 4 or above - up from 16.4 per cent last year.

Overall, 40.4 per cent of entries failed to achieve grade 4 in maths, and 38.4 per cent in English language.

In English literature, 73.7 per cent of entries received a grade 4 or above, very slightly down from 73.9 per cent last year. However, this was still slightly above the last set of pre-pandemic results, as 73.4 per cent passed in 2019.

Last summer’s GCSE results saw an increase in the number of students failing to achieve a pass mark for English and maths, and therefore an increase in those having to resit in November.

However, less than a quarter of the students who took GCSE maths in November 2023 passed - meaning the majority failed their resits .

Leaders across the sector have called for reform to the GCSE resit system, as many students currently never pass. Earlier this week, Professor Alan Smithers, director of the Centre for Education and Employment Research at the University of Buckingham, said that the current system is “soul-destroying” , and called on the government to make a change.

Paul Whiteman, general secretary of the NAHT school leaders’ union, said that the current GCSE resit policy for English and maths “must be scrapped”.   “Those students who haven’t achieved the required grade are forced into repeated resits that are demotivating and can lead to disengagement with their learning,” he said.

Instead, Mr Whiteman said alternative qualifications in maths and English would be a more positive way for some students to demonstrate their achievements.

3. Private and state top grades gap increases

This year has also seen the gap between entries from academies and independent schools grow for achieving the top grades. Nearly half of entries from private schools achieved a grade 7/A or above (48.4 per cent), compared with 21.2 per cent of academies - a 27.2 percentage point gap.

Last year, there was a 26.5 percentage point gap between the proportion of entries from academies (21 per cent) and entries from independent schools (47.5 per cent) being awarded a grade 7 or above.

At secondary comprehensives, 19.4 per cent of entries achieved the top grades.

Statistics for independent schools also include city training colleges.

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

There was a slightly larger gap in 2023 between secondary comprehensive entries hitting the top grades (19.3 per cent) and independent schools of 28.2 percentage points.

However, the gap between school types was slightly lower in 2024 than in 2019, when there was a 27.5 percentage point between academies and independent schools and a 29.3 percentage point gap between comprehensive and private schools.

Schools minister Catherine McKinnell congratulated students and teachers on their achievements today but added: “While this is a moment to celebrate, I am deeply concerned about the inequalities in our education system with where you live and what type of school you attend still being too big an influence on your opportunities.”

4. Regions gap remains stable

The attainment gap between the North and South of England has also remained very similar to last year in terms of top grades.

The proportion of entries achieving a grade 7/A or above was lowest in the North East at 17.8 per cent. This is compared with London, where 28.5 per cent of entries made the grade 7/A.

GCSE results 2024: English and maths pass rate down

Last year, the North East also saw the lowest proportion of top grades, with 17.6 per cent achieving a grade 7 or above. London remained the highest, with 28.4 per cent of entries being awarded those top grades.

That 10.8 percentage point gap was up from 9.3 percentage points in 2019. It has remained constant this year at 10.7 percentage points.

Senior leaders said earlier this year they were concerned about Year 11 exam readiness as absence remained high this spring term.

Absence has been particularly high among the most disadvantaged students. There is a higher proportion of disadvantaged students in the North.

Last week, education secretary Bridget Phillipson pledged to turn around “baked-in” educational inequalities and accused the previous government of leaving a legacy of regional “disparities” in exam outcomes and an attainment gap between private school students and their peers in state schools.

Pepe Di’Iasio, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said that the results show “significant differences” in regional outcomes for GCSEs in England.

“This suggests that relative levels of prosperity and socioeconomic disadvantage continue to play a huge part in educational outcomes,” he said. “Addressing these gaps must be a key priority for the new government working alongside the education sector.”

He added that “funding and teacher shortages, combined with post-pandemic issues around mental health, behaviour and attendance, have made circumstances particularly challenging”.

5. Gender gap narrows slightly

For 2024, the gender gap very slightly narrowed with 70.8 per cent of entries from girls achieving a grade 4/C or above compared with 64.1 per cent of boys - a 6.7 percentage point gap.

Last year, 71.3 per cent of all entries from girls achieved a grade 4 or above, compared with 64.4 per cent of entries from boys - a gap of 6.9 percentage points.

This 6.9 percentage point gap was narrower than in 2019, when 71.4 per cent of girls achieved a grade 4 or above compared with 62.7 per cent of boys.

Entries from girls were also more likely to receive top grades, with 24.4 per cent being awarded a grade 7/A, compared with 18.9 per cent of boys this year.

This was a slight narrowing of the gap from last year, when there was a 5.8 percentage point gap between girls and boys getting the top GCSE grades.

Girls continue to get more grade 9s than boys at 5.8 per cent of entries compared with 4.2 per cent.

GCSEs 2024 gender grades results

The Education Policy Institute (EPI) highlighted recently that the gender gap that has seen girls generally attain higher for many years has been narrowing since the pandemic.

Up to 2023, this narrowing has not only been driven by some increases in attainment for boys at key stage 4, but also some falls in attainment for girls.

6. Wales and Northern Ireland: slight rise in top grades

In Northern Ireland, 31 per cent of GCSE students achieved a grade A/7 or above in 2024, compared with 30.5 per cent in 2019. Meanwhile, 82.7 per cent of exam entries received a grade C/4 or above, similar to the 82.2 per cent of entries in 2019.

In Wales, 19.2 per cent of students achieved an A/7 or above, compared with 18.4 per cent in 2019. This year, 62.2 per cent of exam entries received a C/4 or above - only slightly lower than the 62.8 per cent of entries that achieved this in 2019.

IB unveils new exam rules to tackle time zone cheating

5 free AI tools for school that students, teachers, and parents can use, too

screenshot-2024-03-27-at-4-28-37pm.png

This back-to-school season features a new, major player: generative artificial intelligence (gen AI). In the nearly two years since ChatGPT launched, the chatbot has received many transformative updates, and many other gen AI tools for students have appeared on the market. As a result, there is a plethora of tools that students, teachers, and parents can tap into today.

Also: How to use ChatGPT to analyze PDFs (and more) for free

Many people worry that gen AI can harm education by promoting cheating. However, when used properly, these tools have the potential to help students learn more efficiently. They can also help parents and teachers assist students by creating custom materials and explaining complex topics that would appear in homework, study guides, and more.

I test AI tools every day, and I wish I'd had these tools when I was in school.

The key to effectively using AI for schoolwork is identifying the right tools and use cases. Since there are so many tools, I compiled the list below from months of testing to make your life easier.

ChatGPT is at the top of my list because of its multiple potential use cases that could improve a student's workflow.

As mentioned above, OpenAI's chatbot, launched in November 2022, unleashed a generative craze because its writing, coding, and reasoning capabilities captured people's attention globally. Since then, it has become even better, undergoing major updates that make it even better suited for student use.

Also: How to use ChatGPT to write your resume

For example, ChatGPT can  browse the internet and, as a result, has information on all current events and sites. It can do everything that Google can, but instead of having to aimlessly search through the search results for what you're looking for, the technology gives you the answer in an easy-to-understand response with footnotes that you can follow to lead you to the site.

ChatGPT can also now ingest other inputs, including documents and images, which students can use to  summarize documents ,  transcribe handwritten notes , simplify textbook passages, and more.

Of course, ChatGPT also has the advanced writing, coding, and mathematical abilities that it is known for, making it a great assistant for all subject assignments, including writing and editing essays, solving and explaining math problems, and generating and debugging code.

Some other ways you can use ChatGPT in your studies are:

  • Answering questions you have about class or materials
  • Researching for a paper
  • Working through take-home exams or assignments
  • Explaining complex topics, such as history, current events, politics, and scientific terms, in a more digestible way
  • Writing Excel formulas
  • Making graphs and charts
  • Planning vacation itineraries (we all need a break from school sometimes)

To find the best way to use ChatGPT for your own workflow, I recommend applying it to the use cases discussed above and experimenting with different things.

2. Quizlet

I used Quizlet from middle school through college as a study tool to help me remember content for exams. Although the platform has leveraged AI for more than six years to power some of its study features, such as its Learn mode, it recently further implemented AI to improve its offerings, solving every issue I ever had with the platform.

Quizlet's core feature is its study set, which includes terms and definitions that students can use for different learning exercises and styles, such as flashcards (my personal favorite), matching columns, and more. Building those study sets used to take hours of manual input. Now, AI can do it for you.

All a teacher or student has to do is input their notes, whether in the form of a PDF, image, or document and then Quizlet will automatically build the study set that they can use to study.

Also:  How to use ChatGPT to write an essay

Students can also browse the millions of study sets created by other users. As a student, I found that if I searched Quizlet for a study set about any topic or even a specific textbook, someone else had likely made one.

Recently, Quizlet added two features teachers can use to create engaging content for their classrooms: Blast and Categories . Blast is a gamified learning tool that lets students participate in asteroid-blasting sessions, matching terms to definitions from study sets. Categories is a Jeopardy-style game in which the whole class participates in a mock quiz show.

3. Grammarly

The free Grammarly extension is so helpful that I even included it in my  AI tools for work round-up  because I still use it every day. The beauty of this tool is that it exemplifies using AI to enhance your work rather than doing it for you. The application runs in the background of your work and catches small mistakes that are easy to miss.

Also: Grammarly to roll out a new AI content detector tool. Here's how it works

Whether you are writing an essay in Google Docs or email in Gmail, Grammarly will scan your text and detect spelling and grammatical errors. It can also offer edits about the actual syntax of your text, offering suggestions to rephrase, rewrite, be more concise, add details, adjust tone, and more. The results are not only more polished work but also an opportunity to learn from the edits.

4. Duolingo

Duolingo is a great app for learning a new language. Students can use it to supplement the language courses they are taking in school and build their skills further at home.

The appeal of the Duolingo app is that it gamifies the language-learning experience through bite-sized lessons that feel like individual quests. It also has a streak, leaderboard, league, and point system that motivates learners to want to keep going.

I quickly became invested in Duolingo, earning a 245-day streak in an attempt to learn a new language.

Also: College students: This new AI tool could make doing the reading easier

Foreign language courses are typically mandatory for students throughout their education, starting at the middle school level and going all the way through to college.

As if learning a new language isn't already hard, my experiences suggest foreign language courses are not a priority for schools, especially at the younger learning levels, making them under-resourced and sometimes poorly taught.

Duolingo would be a great way to bridge the understanding gap that is being created in class. Test yourself on your understanding of the language before an exam, or simply supplement your in-class lessons with some out-of-classroom practice.

5. Socratic

Although younger learners can benefit from AI chatbots , such as ChatGPT, there are concerns about giving them access to the entire Internet. Socratic by Google is a great alternative if you are a parent concerned about these concerns.

With the Socratic app, students can type in any question about what they are learning in school or upload their worksheets. The app will generate a conversational, human-like response with unique graphics and even related YouTube video links.

The app will not just pump out answers or generate essays. Instead, it will give step-by-step explanations and instructions that students can use to get the answer themselves, functioning as an intelligent learning tool.

Also:  How Google Socratic can help you with your homework

To give parents peace of mind, Socratic also blocks inappropriate questions from being answered.

The app isn't limited to younger learners, and Google actually refers to it as a "learning app from Google that helps high school and university students." However, due to its functionality, I would say it's better suited for younger learners because of its limits and fun graphics.

Artificial Intelligence

College students: this new ai tool could make doing the reading easier, how to use chatgpt to analyze pdfs (and more) for free, how i test an ai chatbot's coding ability - and you can, too.
